Survival Kids Average Customer Review: Game Cartridge (02 December, 1999) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review Survival Kids is an unconventional puzzle game thathooked us from the moment we powered it up. You control a young survivorwho has been stranded on a deserted island after the sinking of a cruiseship. Armed only with your wits and a pocketknife, your challenge is tofind a way off the island. Along the way you'll find several more items that will help you progressthrough the game's devious puzzles. Fortunately, items can be combinedto create complex objects that can be used in solving these challenges. In addition to the puzzles, your character must also keep a healthysupply of food and fresh water. You'll also want to stay rested if youaim to survive. Since this title plays on the Game Boy Color, it is nosurprise that the graphics are adequate without being too fancy. Thesound effects are also decent, but not overwhelmingly impressive.--T. Byrl Baker Pros:

This game is phenomenal. It's both fun and educational--good for most ages (10 and up). Kids will love it because of the concept and the challenge. You must monitor your fatigue, hunger, thirst, and health levels and replenish them when they get to an unsafe level. Parents will love it because it's very educational. It may teach you how to survive should you actually get stuck on a desert island. Overall, this game is simply one of the best I've played in my short yet consequential life. It's a shame that this game isn't made anymore. You'll simply have to buy a used one! ... Read more Asin: B00003E4EM |

I was impressed by the graphics, & the sound was pretty good (The last handheld I had was the original clunky Gameboy) so this was a suprise to see how it's changed graphically. The story wasn't the best (Nothing like the Gamecube version), but I liked performing the tasks, & it was in a way almost relaxing to play this game.It definately made long drives less long. Although I must admit I suck at Quidditch...Oh well, we can't all be a Viktor Krum... ... Read more Asin: B00006JBS5 |

Hamtaro: Ham Hams Unite! Average Customer Review: Game Cartridge (31 October, 2002) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review Who would have thought a new Game Boy Color game, based on an anime series, could be this original and fun for all ages? Hamtaro: Ham-Hams Unite! is a surprisingly good game. You play as Hamtaro, a cute hamster. Your mission is simple: Bring 12 of your Ham-Ham (or hamster) friends back to the Ham-Ham clubhouse, where Boss--the head hamster--has a surprise for everyone. But how do you convince your Ham-Ham friends to come back with you to the clubhouse? With Ham-Chat, the secret hamster language around which the whole game revolves. Each new Ham-Chat word lets you perform new actions. You can say hi to other hamsters, apologize to them, or compliment them. You can also learn special words that allow you to perform special actions, such as digging holes, doing summersaults, or climbing. But the best part of Ham-Chat is that each word is associated with a move, so when you go to the clubhouse's dance room, you can link your Ham-Chat words together and Ham-Jam. With a link cable, you can trade your dance with friends. You can buy 30 different outfits for Hamtaro and try stuff on back at the clubhouse. You can take a photo that can be displayed in the room and on the title screen, and as you play the game, new places within Hamtaro's neighborhood become accessible. All of this makes a great game that children will love, especially those who are fans of the show. Some adults may find it too cute to resist, too. --Bryan Karsh Pros:

Pokemon Pinball Average Customer Review: Game Cartridge US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review For those a little poky about catching onto the Pokémon craze, thisgame is a great way for the uninitiated to get their feet wet. Also, pinball fanatics shouldnot dismiss this as a kid's game, because it's a solid pinball game, regardless of thePokémon brand. Two Pokémon-themed tables, Red and Blue, are here for players to bounce thePokéball around in hopes of catching up to 150 Pokémon monsters. Themonsters are collected by hitting targets on the pinball tables, and once collected, themonsters can be perused in the popular Pokédex format. Owners of the GameBoy printer can print their prize collections and mount their characters on the wall, if theyso desire. Unfortunately, the monsters collected in Pokémon Pinballcannot be traded with other Pokémon monsters from the Red, Blue, or Yellowgames, making this game a stand-alone product. A unique aspect of the game is that it hasa built-in rumble pack, which vibrates and shakes the Game Boy system as thePokéball bounces around the screen. --Jeff Young Pros:

Stuart Little: The Journey Home Average Customer Review: Game Cartridge (24 August, 2001) list price: $29.99 US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review In Stuart Little: The Journey Home, kids play as Stuart Little, the clever, ever-cheerful mouse from the popular Stuart Little movie and classic children's book of the same name. In the game, Stuart's just joined the Little family, and there's plenty of action to master, such as sliding down the laundry chute as a shortcut or using the flip-top bin to get more altitude. The Littles also join you in your play, as does Snowbell, the family cat who just can't warm up to even the most lovable of mice. This side-scrolling game abounds with action that uses many of the movie's favorite locations. Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak Average Customer Review: Video Game -- our price: $29.99 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review Hamtaro and friends are back in an even cuddlier adventure than before, this time for the GBA. Hamtaro Ham-Ham Heartbreak is a ridiculously cute, deceptively simple-looking adventure game. But dont be fooled--just like its predecessor, Ham-Ham Heartbreak is a very challenging and fun game with surprising depth. Kids will love it, and adults will get a kick out of some of the subtle jokes. The story is simple, but epic: Hamtaro and his friend Bijou must save love itself. An evil hamster named Spat is causing squabbles between hamsters, and its up to Hamtaro and Bijou to mend broken relationships and find out why Spat is causing so much trouble. The key to Ham-Ham Heartbreak is the effective use of Ham-Chat (the secret hamster language). Each Ham-Chat word represents an action. For example "stickie" enables you to whack a bush with a stick, and "putput" allows you to put something on something else. Youll need to learn certain words to solve different challenges in the game. Gameplay is very similar to Ham-Hams Unite!, but the graphics and sound are definitely better. The game looks just like the cartoon show. There are now 24 Ham-Hams to meet instead of 12, and the world is bigger. Strangely, the Clubhouse is smaller. Just like in the first game, there are all kinds of activities. You can buy different outfits and take up to 8 pictures. You can go to the dance room in the Clubhouse and compose a Ham-Jam, where you connect your Ham-Ham words into a dance (you can trade this dance with other people via a GBA link cable). A new feature to Ham-Ham Heartbreak is that you can collect rocks and get them polished. Who knows what secrets are inside the rocks youll find? Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak is a cute game that is truly appropriate for all ages. Just dont let your boss catch you playing it.--Bryan Karsh Pros:

Duke Nukem for Gameboy is awful! Obviously I wasnt expecting fancy 3D graphics and speech, but this game is the most basic of platform games. There is nothing original at all here, and it is simply a case of extending a good brand one stage too far. A pity, but there you go...
