1-0 out of 5 stars bore me to death
...ok so heres the idea of the game....take an action genre such as first person shooter..thats typicaly fulled of action and fun...and instead make it incredibly boring...but give the consumer lots of needless information like "this plant is the jugahuga plant"..I DONT CARE!!

this game bores meeee the boss fight where u were runnign around it was pretty fun but thats the only action in the game...the world was beautiful and everythign was beautiful...but i didnt 'click' with this world... it just felt like i was looking at a pretty moving picture....kind of the equivalent of watching somebody else playing.......then again i like watching my friends play games..but..just not this one...

5-0 out of 5 stars MYSTIC
If you have played Metroid 3 on the Super NES, and loved it like i did this is a must have it have the exact same feeling as that game hade that mystic fantastic feeling. Editorial Review

The Legend of Zelda series practically defined adventure gaming for an entire generation. Link, the hero of the adventure games, delighted millions by starring in games for each Nintendo console from the NES and Super NES to the Nintendo 64. Link brings this beloved franchise to the Nintendo GameCube in The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and he's more animated than ever.

The first thing you'll notice about The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker is that it looks completely different from any previous title in the franchise. Nintendo has opted to use cel-shading technology on Wind Waker; the result is that the game looks like a cartoon. Die-hard Zelda purists initially howled at this change, arguing that the game skews too young. I think it's fantastic. The cartoon animation style allows for better expression of the characters, and several of the animations--like Link trying to pick up an object that's too heavy--are so cute that you can't help but laugh a little.

The second thing you’ll notice is a focus on wind. Instead of trotting around on foot, Link travels from island to island on a talking boat, but he doesn't get far without the wind blowing in right direction. Luckily, you'll learn how to change the direction of the wind early in the game, and you'll do so frequently--not only to power your boat but also to solve puzzles. Clever use of wind makes Wind Waker stand out from more conventional adventure games.

The third thing you’ll notice is that the game is just plain fun. Puzzles are innovative and refreshing, and despite some tricky puzzles, I never felt too frustrated to keep playing. The locales you'll visit are invariably exotic and fun to explore, and the host of bizarre creatures you'll encounter (friendly and otherwise) are always a kick in the pants. Moreover, though the look is radically different, Wind Waker feels like a classic Zelda game. Veterans of the early games in the franchise will experience more than a bit of nostalgia while playing it.

The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker is everything you've come to expect from a Zelda game, and it's one of the best adventure games to date. This is a must-have title for any GameCube owner. --Jon "Safety Monkey" Grover

    Pros:

    • New cel-shaded animation looks great
    • Puzzles and characters are a lot of fun
    • There's a special place in the heart of any gamer who's ever owned a Nintendo console, and that place is shaped like a Triforce

    Cons:

    • Some Zelda purists may be turned off by the cartoon look

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST ZELDA GAME YET!!!
oh first of all im not under 13.Anyway Link is back for another adventure...this one is the best adventure yet.The cell shaded graphics are awesome, some say they they suck, but i think they are pretty cool. The gameplay is really fun you can do all sorts of stuff...but the bad thing is when you get your little boat that talks(i forgot the name)it just takes forever to go around the great sea on it.The audio is similar to the old zelda games some is new though. Now the game starts off when its links 12th birthday his sister wakes him up when he is asleep on the villages tower thingy, she tells him to go talk to his grandma and she gives him his green tunic. After that you will see find your sister she gives you a present...i dont want to tell what...but anyway i dont want to tell anymore secrets. You will have to find them out yourself.i reccomend this game to people who enjoyed any Zelda game before....or if you hated them, give this one a shot.Or if you havent even played one this one will make you want to keep playing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hours and hours of fun!
Firstly let me state that I have never before played another Zelda game. I just never got into them; I was a Mario girl.

That said, ZELDA AND THE WIND WAKER is phenomenal. My younger sister got it as a present and she let me play when she wasn't playing it. As soon as I got up and left for college I needed my own.

Link is adorable. His facial expressions are entertaining. All the characters are great; there's such a variety that you'll just keep on Ooohing and Aaahing at the screen, impressed at the creativity.

The fighting/action is difficult but not too much so. I've played games before that I would get so mad at that I would have to leave and come back to them... much, much later. Zelda provided no such frustration, but as I said before, it wasn't so easy that I zipped straight through it and was not challenged.

The storyline is interesting. The sailing, contrary to what some other people may have said, is not tedious. In fact, I did quite a bit of exploring just for fun while I was on my way to other places.

My sister and I spent hours and hours playing this game. In fact, I would even pick it up and play it all over again from the beginning if I had the time.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but below the bar set by Ocarina of Time
The Wind Waker was a risk for Nintendo.Besides the obvious difference in graphics due to new cel-shading techniques, they mostly scrapped the core storyline of previous Zelda games and added a different, lighthearted feel to the classic series.

Did it work?Mostly. But the flaws in the game come not from the decision to use cartoon graphics or to move away from the old Zelda storyline, but in the game's execution as a whole.First, however, we must look at the most obvious change: the cel-shaded graphics.Though the decision to use cel-shading created outrage among hardcore Zelda fans, it was actually done quite well; the animation compliments the light nature of the plot.Though a disappointment for some, these cel-shaded graphics are technically very good and certainly show off the capabilities of the Gamecube.

The plot, too, is very different from the previous games, most of which (including the amazing N64 installment, Ocarina of Time) were set in Hyrule. In Wind Waker, the setting is on various islands in the Great Sea hundreds of years in the future... though as the story progresses, it turns out that the story is not as detached from previous games as one is initially led to believe. The shift was a bold move, but was well done as a whole because of the strong ties to games such as Ocarina of Time, which created a sense of nostalgia for longtime Zelda fans.Just as important are the new gamers who will find the plot of Wind Waker to be independent enough to enjoy without any prior Zelda knowledge.

That said, the major problem with this game lies in the gameplay itself.Though various innovations were successfully added to the user interface and controls (the slick counter-attack move, for example), one can't help but notice that many of the tasks given to Link are trivial at best and downright boring at worst.Take, for example, sailing, which is Link's primary method of transportation between islands. It takes forever and requires little interaction; I frequently would set the sail's direction and leave the controller on the ground to go get a snack.Beastly sea-monsters are not all that common, and only serve as a nuisance instead of a challenge while sailing.Additionally, Link is required to go on a kind of fishing expedition at the end of the game that is seriously tedious, frightfully boring, and takes lots of time with no challenge at all. Finally, combat is smooth but easy; death by combat is quite rare for all but the most novice of players.

The Wind Waker was a brave attempt at a new direction for the Zelda series, and the new direction works, for the most part. However, flaws in the gameplay itself seriously distract from the intricate plots that define the Zelda series and make The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker a less-than-stellar addition to the classic Nintendo series.

Normally, Nintendo contract players such as Mario, Pikachu, Link, DonkeyKong, Bowser, and Kirby are generally happy and well-mannered, but in SuperSmash Bros. Melee, the pleasantries get thrown out and the gloves (exceptfor Mario's) come off. This update of the N64 favorite features these and othervideo game icons in furious, yet utterly absurd fisticuffs that usually make fora smashing good time. Just make sure you have at least one human opponent topound on.

Starting off with 14 characters (an additional 11 are waiting to be unlocked),the game has a pretty standard premise--let Nintendo's stars beat on each otheruntil the timer runs out. However, a lot of emphasis is put on knockingopponents off ledges while avoiding the same fate. In typical Nintendo manner, there are quite a few power-ups to assist you in the melee. The actual combatisn't as intricate as in other fighting games; however, the ultra-cartoonylayout of the many, many arenas sometimes adds a strategic element not usuallyfound in similar titles.

Super Smash Bros. Melee's strength lays in the mayhem created infour-player fights. The camera does an excellent job of positioning itself so allcombatants are constantly visible. Also, Melee sports some of the bestvisuals seen in a Nintendo product. All the characters are highly detailed, andthe movements of each are smoothly infused with personality. Donkey Kong lumbersand Princess Peach fights with grace.

As the multiplayer mode is the key reason for this game's existence, thesingle-player mode is decidedly weak. The game features an adventure mode that playssomewhat like an old-school, side-scrolling Mario game. Sadly, despite its goodlooks, its gameplay is rather uninspired. This game is clearly at its best whenthere are two or more players with controllers in their hands. --MarkBrooks

    Pros:

    • Fantastic graphics and sound keep the action upbeat
    • Many new characters and other goodies to unlock
    Cons:

    • Too cute for a few folks
    • Adventure mode is boring

1-0 out of 5 stars too hard
I was expecting this game to be easy but it wasnt ' i think sonic team at least shouldve added a handicapp mode on story mode where it gets easy but instead they didnt ' the levels are just to hard and annyoying and walkthroughs make it sound like the game is easy when its not

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Game
In a gaming world dominated by big names such as Halo, Half Life, Warcraft, and Final Fantasy, the Monkey Ball series provides players with a new meaning of fun.

First off, it is an easy game to pick up play. Similar to Katamari Damacy, you don't have to be a gaming master, or "gosu" as people call it, or devote hundreds of hours to hardcore practicing to play the game at a competent level. In fact, the beauty of Super Monkey Ball 2 is that you don't have to be good at all and you'll still enjoy it. This game is undoubtedly harder than Super Monkey Ball 1, but learning is part of the process to any game.

The main part of the game itself consists of you having to maneuver your way through different courses and worlds to reach the end, while collecting secrets on your way to "beating" the game. Those secrets range from unlocking new multiplayer games to obtaining new music. Besides that, there is a plethora of party games that can keep children and adults alike entertained for hundreds of hours.

All in all, this game is just plain fun. The game tries to keep cutthroat competition at a minimum and makes it enjoyable for everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pulled out of the shelf
I was 9 when I bought this- I had previously wanted a game (I can't remember the game, unfortunately.), I happened out to pick one that looked pretty interesting. It was Super Monkey Ball 1.

Judging by myself, I had a pretty hard time. I haven't played it three years, because I had been playing it wrong.

Here is, you're a monkey in a ball, rolling to get in the goal. It may look kiddy, but is fun to master, and the physics are great. 6 mini-games in the original, 12 in the sequel, the replay value can get pretty high if you're into the games.

    The mini-games are:
Monkey shot (like Time Crisis), Monkey Boat, Monkey Tennis, Monkey Soccer, Monkey Dogfight, Monkey Bowling, Monkey Golf, Monkey Billiards, Monkey Target, Monkey Fight, and Monkey Race.

As I sit and watch the records on Vortiginous (http://server1.vortiginous.com/smb/), mostly by the famed Packattack, both games are fun.

If you want somethinnng more challenging to master, Super Monkey Ball 1 is your best bet. If you love mini-games, go for #2.

(If you buy this, don't forget: if you complete Expert without a continue, you get Expert Extra. Expert Extra without a continue: Master. Master Mode without a continue, Master Extra. Expert EX to Master EX is NOT story mode stages.) ... Read more

    Editorial Review

When Rare made GoldenEye for the Nintendo 64 in 1997, they created the best first-person shoot-'em-up the world had ever seen and, arguably, has ever seen to this day. Many of the geniuses behind the game left Rare shortly after to set up their own company, Free Radical. Their first game was the rather rushed (in time for the PS2's launch) TimeSplitters, but this sequel is polished to perfection and easily one of the best games of the year.

One of the main problems with the original TimeSplitters was its awful single-player mode, but this has been totally revamped for the sequel, with a proper story mode, all-new time zones and weapons, and absolutely mountains of unlockable hidden extras. Thankfully they’ve kept the wicked sense of humor from the first game, but there's also a lot more strategy for solo players this time around, including an amusing homage to GoldenEye's Arkangelsk Dam level, along with pastiches of other games and films scattered throughout the game.

The real reason for TimeSplitters 2's greatness, though, is the multiplayer mode. This is GoldenEye to the nth degree, with superbly designed levels, tons of weapons, and all sorts of tricks and gimmicks, such as remote-control gun turrets and invisibility pills. It may lack the epic scope of Halo, but in multiplayer mode at least this is a lot more fun--and fun, as the Beatles never said, is all you need. --David Jenkins, Amazon.co.uk ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Campaign sucks, but the multiplayer is fun
You know, I'm not to big on first-person shooters, and games like Time Splitters 2 are probably why.The first thing that I noticed is that this game played exactly like GoldenEye 007.Sure it (007) is a good game, but come on, was the rip-off really necessary? From the health system, to the aiming, they're very much alike. So if you're looking for an innovative challange, you won't be getting it here.Anyway, here are just a few things that I felt this game could have improved on.First, there is no recticle, only for aiming, and it gets annoying being in the aiming mode, having to hold L, or press down L (depending to you're settings).I even find it a little harder having to aim since you feel some resistance. And when you're not aiming, being accurate is hard if you don't know how the weapons shoot.Sometimes when I'm trying to shoot an enemey, I'll shoot at nothing for about three seconds before I get a "feeling" for the gun. This is very counter-intuitive.Another thing is the fact that you can't jump at all.It really pisses me off that you're still glued to the ground on these modern games.War games I can understand (even then jumping could be very beneficial and realistic), but in sci-fi futuristic games like this one, the characters should be capable of jumping.Speaking of characters, they're somewhat lame in design, but nothing too rediculous. As for weapons, they are various and abundant. This makes the shoot outs less boring and more diverse. Also, the objectives for the single player campaign are somewhat hard to figure out and not very fun to do.It took me more 20 minutes just to complete the first mission. After that I just gave up on it.

The multiplayer, or arcade as they call it, is where the game shines, and probably what it was mainly meant for.I wasn't able to explore it all, but what I did experiece, I liked very much. The good thing is that there are bots.I don't know why more games don't utilize a this feature.I mean, the AI is very weak, but it's still fun to put it on frantic, have nothing but rockets, have as many characters as possible and just blow each other away.If you have a lot a friends, it's very good for parties. There are many different modes, characters, maps, and whatever I forgot to mention. The arcade league is also great because it challanges you with minigames that aren't necessarrily hard, just somewhat frustrating.By playing this and successfuly getting the higher tier trophies, you'll get new character, maps and modes. Some of them are very fun too.

Other things like graphics and music aren't too impressive and thus not worth mentioning. So that pretty much covers it.If you plan to get this, buying it wouldn't be a bad way of doing so, seeing as how it cost so little.I wouldn't really recommend this for someone who is looking for a very immersive gameplay, but it still has its moments.

4-0 out of 5 stars If you miss goldeneye get this game
I'll be honest. I bought this game for the cheap price and the fact that I needed something to play on my GC while I change my PC's DVD drive. Being a PC gamer, I hadn't played 1 FPS on my GC since I bought it. In fact, the only console FPS since goldeneye I had played more than an hour was halo, halo 2 and the metroid prime hunters demo. Since I'm not buying an XBOX any time soon I decided to give this a try.

First of all, the gameplay is a picture perfect copy of goldeneye. That's both good and bad. Perfect if you gave away your N64 and loved that game. The graphics show their age, especially the level design, but everything is clean and there isn't a jaggy in sight. The GC hardware also manages to display some larger than life bosses in the single player mode. Everything plays smooth as butter. The music is adequate, awesome in some levels, boring in others, the sound effects show their age but there are a lot of voiceovers.

I haven't tried multiplayer becuase everyone is playing halo 2 now. But the singleplayer is great. The story seems like that Quantum leap show mixed with the mission impossible show. And the levels are very different. The first one seems straight out of goldeneye. The second one seems straight out of the untouchables and the third one seems like a Sherlock Holmes movie. It really fits the time traveling storyline and is fun to play.

Definitely recommended if you liked Goldeneye, but it doesn't match up well with Halo or Metroid Prime. I hope they release the next installment on the GC as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best freekin gamecube game ever!

5-0 out of 5 stars very much fun and challenging
its a lot of fun except for one thing doing the same part over and over and over and over and over and that kinda gets annoying but other than that great graphics cool gadgets and lots of choices on how your gonna kill someone.shock, explode, pop one in his head, sand bags, wack or just get killed by him.

oh yeah and something else thats really funny on the last level presidental palace when you knock out the first guy grab his body and go as close as you can to the cliffs edge and hit "R"
and youll pull out your gun and his body will fall off the cliff which is really funny to watch so enjoy

Splinter Cell is awesome! It has great graphics, kick-butt stealth tactics, and blow your-mind-off weapons! You can move in the shadows so no one can see you, you can pick up bodies, you can hack into computers, and use lethal or non-lethal force!
If you like strategy and/or stealth games, you'll love this! If you like an all out war, do not get this game! The story line is great but it could be longer. Still, the leves are long so it will keep you busy! There is a hard mode and normal mode. I suggest playing in hard mode. Normal mode is easy. Now, a message to all people who think that all shooters have to be 1st person:Splinter Cell is better in 3rd person! After you beat this on normal and hard mode, get Splinter Cell:Pandora Tomorrow! ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Though it looks like a toy, don't be fooled: the Nintendo GameCube is a powerful video game console that rightly deserves its place among the other next-generation game systems. In fact, its playful, appealing design and small size (the unit is a not-quite-cubed 6 inches) aren't the only features that set it apart from the others.

For starters, Nintendo has quite clearly made this a game-only machine. It doesn't try to play your CD collection, run your movies, read your e-mail, or store your MP3 files. The company has concentrated its efforts on games. All the prelaunch titles we've seen play smoothly, with bright, fast graphics and great sound. Nintendo says its engineers have removed traditional bottlenecks that have, in the past, slowed down processing. New components designed by IBM and MoSys, as well as a large-capacity secondary memory cache, keep instructions moving through the system's microprocessor (MPU) at peak levels. In English: the GameCube is optimized to push speed up while pushing costs down; hence its position at the lower end of the price spectrum.

The GameCube is the first Nintendo video game system to use a disc-based medium rather than cartridges for its games. Moving the software to disc media generally means lower development costs for the publishers, which, in turn, trickles down to the consumer not only in price, but also in availability and quality, as it's then easier to try out untested game ideas (Pikmin, anyone?). While most other systems likewise have their games stored on discs, the GameCube's 3-inch format is smaller than everyone else's, and is so designed to fit in a shirt pocket as much as to deter would-be software pirates.

Of course, the main advantage of the GameCube is that it's the home field of one of the world's premier game designers: Nintendo. While powerhouses Electronic Arts and Sega make games for all systems (including this one), you can play Nintendo games only on a Nintendo system. And Nintendo, you might recall, has been hitting them out of the park since it started with Donkey Kong. In fact, here's a roll call of characters and series you won't find on the other consoles: Mario, Legend of Zelda, Perfect Dark, Metroid, Kirby, and, of course, Pokémon. A few names that the GameCube will share with the other guys: Madden, Tony Hawk, Sonic, Batman, and Star Wars.

The system also comes with four built-in controller ports, so you can easily plug in extra controllers and let friends join in for the multiplayer games--it's even got a built-in handle so you can easily move it to a friend's house. It comes with two memory card slots for saving your progress through games, and there's the capacity for future expansion into the world of online gaming.

In short, the GameCube isn't an all-in-one entertainment system, and neither is it the most powerful of the modern video game consoles. But for video game enthusiasts who want to stick with their favorite characters, its value cannot be beat. --Porter B. Hall

5-0 out of 5 stars Best system
This is the best system currently out. It has all the classics and is more fun than the other systems.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended.
Any fan of the Nintendo 64 needs this console to add more depth and knowlegde to their already large collection of games. I highly recommended a Gamecube for any fan. And soon the Gamecube Revolution will be released making another ultimate console due out in the future.

1-0 out of 5 stars listen up, fanboys...
all you nintendo fanboys are cramping up the xbox reviews. thats our turf! :p but anyway, you say "oh, the crapbox (wow thats clever) is so bad, all the games are just rippoffs, and they're all for pc, and the controller is huge, and this and that and whatever" well, gamecube stinks even worse. i mean, what games do you have for it? animal crossing? pokemon staduim? please. what's that? there are 'mature' games for it? resident evil series, thats it. name ONE 1st party nintendo game that's rated M. you can't. conker doesnt count, he's from rare. or perfect dark, thats rare too. and rare went over to microsoft anyway when they saw how bad gamecube was doing. even the system itself looks like a Playschool product. who makes a purple console? and to the one who said 'xbox players are losers and loners with no friends', that's gamecube's territory. i'm not gonna call the guys over to play a heart-pounding game of butterfly catching on animal crossing. oh, and nintendo STILL HASN'T GONE ONLINE. xbox live is the greatest online gaming service around. and the xbox controller has gotten progressively smaller as time has gone by. and 3rd parties make controllers that are even smaller than gamecube's. so lets see, if i want Billy Hatcher's Giant Egg i'll get gamecube. if i want GTA AND Halo 2 AND just about every other game you could want, i'll get xbox. ... For any Gamecube gamer this memory card is essential. I do not understand why Nintendo waited so long to create a bigger memory card than the 59, which is all but useless now.

A must buy for any serious gamer.

If you have another, sell it and buy this (Unless, of course, you have the 1019). I have the 59, and it fills up way too fast. Third-party companies DO NOT completely understand how memory is stored, so it will get corrupted. Buy this.

5-0 out of 5 stars who in the world hates this game come on!!!
the people who hate this stink!

3-0 out of 5 stars Suffers from sequelitis
How often do you see a sequel to a movie that tries to outdo the original? That's what happened here. The original Pikmin was a masterpiece.A unique game with peaceful play interrupted with violent outbursts.Pikmin 2 is just violent outbursts.Oh yeah they ruined my favorite part of the original game, challenge mode.

1-0 out of 5 stars Why, Nintendo, why....
...why did you have to ruin such a good thing? My hours spent with the original Pikmin, chilling to the ambient music and exploring the gorgeous environments, were some of the best hours of my life. But this...all I can say is, it COULD have been amazing.

The only "pro" here is all the little treasures you get to collect. Each one is completely unique, and although they're all stuff that us normal people would consider trash (like bottle caps and empty cans), they have new names that make them sound glorious and awe-inspiring. It's hilarious to see.

But are these funny items scattered throughout a new set of picture-book-pretty worlds to explore? NO! Instead, you get to experience the beautiful outdoor environments for a period of about four seconds before being forced into a long series of underground tunnels. Seriously, the entire game takes place in the tunnels! Each tunnel is nearly identical to the last, and it gets extremely boring. And if things could possibly get worse than that, there are no more logic-puzzles to solve. No, the only thing you do in these underground labyrinths is fight monsters! I didn't mind the fighting in the first game, since it not the whole focus, but here, it gets extremely repetitive, extremely fast. After a few hours' worth of tunnel-crawling, I felt ready to cry from boredom and sheer disappointment.

Words cannot describe the sadness this game caused me. When the first Pikmin released, I felt like I had been given a VIP pass to my own private wonderland. With this second entry, my trip to paradise got tied up in tunnels. ... Read more

am up to year 4 in the game. Please post a review to tell me if I should play multi-player mode.

4-0 out of 5 stars Frustrating
Okay, so yeah this game was alright. Graphics were astounding in their clarity and realism, but I have to say, the stupid miasma stream started to seriously grind on my nerves. When I first started the game and beat the first three boss monsters i completely forgot to change the crystal chalice's element to fire. How the hell was I to know that I would need it in the future? I mean, really, the element of the nest stream was earth so I naturally thought I needn't worry about the fire element. Stupid, stupid, stupid! When I got to the nest level I was completely lost and unable to continue, thus forcing me to start the game over, again. Someone please shoot me...

4-0 out of 5 stars Another reason why I value technology over magic
My brother owns this game, and he got me to play it through the GBA connectivity. This is the first (and only) Final Fantasy game I've ever played, and while he likes it, I think it's got several good ideas which are never fully used. As I have for my Amazon.com reviews of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Rayman DS, I shall now give this game a Multi-Category Review. For those of you unfamiliar with my review system, I rate a game on 7 separate categories, which I call Graphics, Sound, Plotline, Control, Glitches, Entertainment, and Replay value, and I rate on a scale of 1 (worst) to 10 (best), which I find works better than a five-star rating system (sorry, Amazon). Then I take an average of each rating to create a final Overall Rating.

Well, let's see how well this game does its magic tricks.

GRAPHICS: One word here: WOW. No, seriously, this almost looks like a game from the next console generation. Spell effects are astounding, water effects are even better than Pikmin's (and that game up until this point had the best water effects around), and character models are excellent. Even the Moogles (which I call flying hamsters) have fur effects rivaling those in StarFox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet. I can't see why I would give this category any less than a perfect rating. RATING: 10

SOUND: The music fits perfectly and sounds excellent, but boss battle and main menu music has no variety. RATING: 8

PLOTLINE: You live in some magical happy place that's not so happy now that the land is covered with a "miasma" which burns any who touch it to death. The people protect themselves with big crystals that generate force fields that keep out this airborne poison, which must be recharged with myrrh once a year. That's where you come in. Playing as either a Clavat (which I call a slowpoke), a Yuke (some bird thingie), a Selkie (who are thieves), or a Lilitie (an angry midget), you must go on a crystal caravan and fight the same bosses and enemies over and over to get your precious myrrh. If the concept doesn't already seem to be a coincidental rip-off of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes's Dark Aether, the action can get repetitive, and some stages are just way too long. The miasma stream areas are just annoying, and the game obviously tries but fails to create a deep and engaging storyline.
Sorry, Crystal Chronicles. Maybe in the upcoming sequel for the DS. RATING: 6

CONTROL: Single-player is near perfect, but multiplayer GBA smells like Moogle droppings. The D-pad is never a good substitute for a control stick, and accessing items is tedious, bogs down the rest of the group, and leaves you wide open to attack. Here, it's a mixed bag. RATING: 6.5

GLITCHES: Thankfully, this game has no glitches or bugs, except for the occasional collision issue. The miasma must have wiped them all out. RATING: 9

ENTERTAINMENT: There are other games that are more enjoyable, but there are also some which Crystal Chronicles beats. RATING: 7

REPLAY VALUE: Good for the first few years in the game, then you'll quit. RATING: 5

    OVERALL RATING: 7.4

A FINAL WORD: This is just an average game. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go exterminate some more Ing for U-Mos in Metroid Prime 2. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent fun!
This game is quite fun and easy to play once you learn the controls. The squad based tactics work well, although the AI is not as smart as you would like. Basically if you want a job done right you better do it yourself. There is a good variety of gameplay and the level design is well done. If you like combat games I think this is one of the best for the Gamecube.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fredom Fighters
As chris one of the many fredom fighters you and your pals have to kill the soveits invading Ney Yourk/America. This is a fun action packet game were your most valublue weapon is your squad. You comand them to kill people, attack places, and scout out places and much more. Their are 6 differant kinds of guns in this game that you can choose from all with a differant pupus. If you are a kid who likes playing games full of action and if you like to comand squads in games than this is a game for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Small review
I want to start by saying I really dont like war games. This game however is amazing and I had such a great time playing it.The story is about the Cold War going to the Soviets and taking over. Its not the strongest thing in the world but it is a kind of a fresh take on things.

The gameplay is so much fun.The game can be played by someone who wants to use strategy and stealth but can also be played by someone who just runs in guns firing, which is my prefered style. There is a lot of elements to the game, such as having followers you command, there are better versions of this type of system in SOCOM, but I still love its use in this game.

I dont replay many games, I just get bored with them but this one I have replayed many times over, and you dont get anything when you finish the game, so the replay value is just in how much you ike the game, in my case that is enough to keep coming back for more.If anything when I bought the game it was full price and has been worth every cent, now its low in price and I highyl recommend checking this title out. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Such a good game!
I adore this game.I originally played the Dreamcast version, but didn't get very far into it.There are so many wonderful things, I'll just name three: 1.) Making discoveries2.) The Swashbuckler system 3.) Ship-to-ship fighting. Here are three annoyances: 1.)LOOPERS2.) Amount of random battles3.) The stupidity of Vyse after Mt. Prynn. If you want to do everything in the game, and unless you want to spend over 100 hours doing it, then I highly suggest going to GameFAQs for a little help.I keep reading about the "out-dated" graphics, but I haven't really noticed anything.About the only thing I would really like to see (or rather 'hear') more of is voice acting. This is a truely wonderful and enjoyable game for everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Great RPG that Got Away
Were this game to come out not on the Dreamcast but on the PS2 upon it's original release....then right now people would be enjoying Skies of Arcadia Part 3.

Simply put: this is a great game. Great gameplay. Great story. Great characters. Yes, the graphics are outdated. So F'in what. If you are in any way a fan of RPG's...then you owe it to yourself to get this one and enjoy all that this game has to offer.

    Skies of Arcadia.

    The gem that got away.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Long-Term Gaming
This game provides alot of gaming time, if you like. I'm sure you can whiz through it, but there are tons of side missions to provide hours and hours of adventure. I logged around 80 hours and every minute was fun. The only downfall is one side mission, making "Discoveries".Some are very difficult to find and make it a bit aggravating. But the game is really worth some minor annoyance. The battling is simple, yet strategic and you can even Battle Ship-to-Ship. Upgrades in equipment, magic and weapons give you alot to work with. You even end up recruiting members for your own crew. ... Read more

Ok, heres the deal. I have this game for myself of course and i have played this game for all of the systems available for it. First ill start with gamecube this is the best for it. No doubt about it, its graphics are awsome and theres no bad about it! Its so addicting. Ok the other systems. X box lets just say poor graphics and even worse gameplay. Good for people who love sucky games (meaning dont buy it for x box). Ok well it is a byest opinion, well it kicks butt for gamecube best gameplay. Get it!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's not the 64 one but it's still great racing
In my opinion Mario Kart are one of the better racers, besides Need for Speed. I like the hyper-realism of something like Gran Turismo or Midnight Club 3 but it's kind of boring cause you just race period. Mario Kart has gameplay elements that actually make you interested in the race. It feels slightly slower than the 64 version but it still looks great.

Story: No story literally. Basically you have racers that want that gold cup and go through different race sets to do it. Old favorites return like Rainbow Road which looks more stunning than the old one and some new ones.

Graphics: Very nicely detailed. Areas like Rainbow Road are simply great to watch but then you have to actually watch the road. Others look rather bland like souped up 64 versions instead of complete overhauls.

Sound/Music: Traditional voice one-liners like "let's-a go!" or "Yoshi!". The music has that nice bubbly catchy music but it's not catchy. What the?

Gameplay: The big change from 64 to Double Dash is right in the name: you have 2 racers per kart now. So Mario is teamed with Luigi, Peach is with Daisy(Luigi's chick I guess), and Baby Mario with Baby Luigi and others.

If you get a red homing shell but don't wanna use it, move your guy to the back and get something else until you need it. The specials are roughly the same with the backwards ? which derails you, homing red shells, ever-travelling green shells, awesome-but-inexplicable blue ones(I have no idea how they work, I just fire them).

Courses in a way are a little complicated than in the past. You'll be bumping into walls a lot and even falling into pits/water which is incredibly frustrating especially when it's such a sharp curve with very little turning room.

There's plenty of secrets to be found and shortcuts that you can explore but this game as usual best works with multiplayer which you'll get your fun's worth in bucket loads.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Karting Game
I actually liked N64's version better, but this one I like too.

5-0 out of 5 stars RACING FUN

5-0 out of 5 stars Best ever!!!!!!!!!!!
Even if I only have trial, IT IS THE BEST GAME EVER
I cannot belive you have said it is a disgrace on the game "8- year old gamer". Anyways it has good graphics it is good about the 3-play. I think #8 is the hardest one. I love the game and when I get on summer holidays I will be excited.

3-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Update
After picking up the Sonic Mega Collection to experience the classics I never owned years ago, I decided to shell out for a new 3D Sonic game to see how the character had translated to 3D.

There's a lot of good stuff here. When the characters pick up speed and start flying every which way, you're instantly reminded of what Sonic is really about. The levels are nicely varied, and some like the obligatory casino pinball stages are fantastic to look at and play through. The framerate never dips, and the levels guide you along on a set path without ever making you feel confined. Sonic isn't Mario, and subjecting him to exploratory missions wouldn't feel right.

However, Sonic Heroes will also test your patience. The team idea of switching between 3 characters is novel, but constantly rotating between them gets tiresome. Also, having four teams feels a bit unnecessary. Everyone wants to play as Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, and Amy and Cream are decent additions. But the alligator and bee? A bulky robot and an oversized idiotic cat? It doesn't help that Sega went with the voice actors from the 4Kids Sonic X series, who seem to match their roles appropriately but speak in shrill, high-pitched tones (and speak they do...the characters can't seem to shut up sometimes). There are other, technical annoyances. Some levels seem to guide you through on auto-pilot, while others have you line up odd jumps that have you falling to your death (the rail canyon stages). Also, at an average of 5-6min per level, you're left wondering if things will end soon. I know Sega wants to extend playing value, but I'm not sure if this is how to do it.

I've actually ended up listing more bad than good here, but this is still a fun game. The sense of speed and wonder outweigh the game's flaws, and it's worth the investment as a player's choice value title. It's a nice diversion from the more expansive rpg and adventure games in your collection.

3-0 out of 5 stars Sonic the Hedgehog should stay in 2D
This game was an improvement over the awful Sonic Adventure 2, but no by much. It has the potential to be more fun but is still crippled by horrible gameplay and bad camera problems. The switching between 3 characters, who each have 3 different abilities, became very annoying and the levels were all too alike and just seemed to be vaguely recycled levels of the 2 previous games.

As much as I liked the original Sonic Adventure I have to say that Sonic in 3D just doesn't work and doesn't feel right. The original Sonic platformers, plus the new Sonic Advance games are what the blue hedgehog is all about and it's worth investing your time in them if you're a serious Sonic Fan. Leave stuff like this game to the kiddies. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty awesome game!!
I was very skeptical when I bought this game at Toys 'R Us since it was reduced. I thought that since price was cheap quality would be as well but NOT EVEN!! So far it has been the best racing game I've ever played. The main reason it's a very cool game is because the crafts fly extremely fast and you can also hit your opponents to knock them out of the race. I'm glad I bought Nintendo Gamecube, I don't think I would change it for another game console. The only thing that would make me a happy man would be the release of "Killer Instinct" but I guess I'll just keep waiting.

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost impossible to beat grand pix on EASY

The hardest and most fastest racing I have ever played. It is fun? yes but some of the cups are too difficult even on EASY. I have unlocked 2 new characters and some items. I like the game but it's almost impossible to beat grand pix and Story mode because it's so damm hard.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Can't-Miss, Can't-Lose for Fans of the Racing Genre
For over a decade, the F-Zero games have made up one of the most intense racing franchises around. Now, Nintendo has teamed up with Sega to bring fans F-Zero GX, the fourth and undoubtedly best incarnation of the series.

Rather than simply reincarnate the gameplay of old, F-Zero GX continues a story established in its predecessors (This takes place four years after the events of F-Zero 64), making it new in every retrospect save its racing style, which is as intense and addictive as always.F-Zero has always offered some of the most extreme courses ever, and GX is no exception.Every track offers its own unique challenge, whether its clearing a U-turn, hitting a series of turbo boosters, or flying a few hundred feet through the air onto one of two landing strips below. You can even attack and destroy other racers, which provides for some extra fun when passing to the front of the pack.If you've mastered one track, you're hardly prepared for the rest. You have a choice of 30 racers (Though you start with just the four featured on the cover), and as you complete races and challenges, you'll earn tickets with which to customize your racers, buy special items, and even purchase chapters to the game's Story Mode, a new feature that takes you inside the story that establishes GX as a sequel.

The sound department is a mixed bag.The effects are clear and befitting, while the music, which includes themes for all 30 racers, ranges from lame to catchy; More often the latter, but too often the former.Voice acting is well-done, but the dialogue often rivals Attack of the Clones, especially when it comes to the oddly-executed interviews at the end of a Grand Prix.

Graphics are often what make or break a game in today's world of gaming, and even for the demands put forth by F-Zero GX's gameplay, the graphics here are truly stunning.Detailed vehicles, crisp visual effects, beautiful tracks and an excellent frame rate provide the smooth, stylish gameplay that's crucial to extreme racing. The cut scenes in Story Mode are beautifully rendered, almost giving you the feel of a CGI-animated film. The only strike against the graphics in F-Zero GX would be the character models, which are a still smooth, bit rigid and on the blocky side. The focus of the game is on racing, though, so its hardly anything to be concerned about.

If there's any one racing game to buy for the Gamecube, it's F-Zero GX.Even when the story mode is complete and the races have all been won, you can still go back for more, over and over again. The options are so endless, you could be playing the game for months before you've covered everything, and you'll still have plenty more to do.This is easily one of the greatest racing experiences to date. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best
Three words: THIS GAME ROCKS. For once there's a good 3D fighting game for Gamecube! It also has an eight way run that comes in handy. I actually never played the first one cause sequels are always better and I just said screw it.
The characters: I only play the female chars because there's too many guys and it's fun to ass-beat with a chick. My favorite is Talim. She weilds two short-bladed weapons, one in each hand. Her fighting style is based on a south-eastern-wind-dance-turned-deadly. There's also Taki the ninja, Xianghua, (pronounced shong-huwa) the Chinese sword-guardian, Cassandra and Sophitia Greek gladiators, Ivy the British dominatrix, and Seung Mina with her giant poleaxes. Then there's the dudes like Raphael, Kilik, Yunsung, and Voldo, that freaky dude that acts like a bug. *Disturbing character* The thing that hooked me right away was the Weapon Master mode. You basically train and fight people and earn different weapons for each character. However, they cost money, so if you clear a round with no damage you get more gold that if you get injured. You can also buy costumes for everybody! Except the unlockable chars... IMHO the only cool costume is Xianghua's black outfit, so don't waste your money. This game is loaded with unlockables, so you just have to mess around in arcade and weapon master mode. Overall I think I did good by investing in yet another fighting game

4-0 out of 5 stars Too many half naked chicks.
The only downside to this game is the chicks. Mostly all of them are half naked and disguisting, every movement you can see up their skirts and its gross.

But ignore that and you have the boys. The most gorgeous bishonen they have is Nightmare, one of his nipples is even an eye and with long blond hair is the ultimate fighter of the gae carrying around a giant sword (and I mean a weapon lol).

Their are extras which makes the game even more fun, a map to take your character through the world of Soul Calibur and opening new costumes (mostly only for the girls though grr..) and information, as well as new weapons and other things.

I bought the Gamecube version to use Link from the original Nintendo 64. But Soul Calibur 3 will only be on PS3 only.

3-0 out of 5 stars good but gets boring too fast

Mario Party 5 is fun a couple of hours but gets boring too fast because there's not so much to do. Almost no extra modes or new characters. I really hope this series ends soon because each new game is the same.

    4-0 out of 5 stars It's an all-out bash!

4-0 out of 5 stars Rebel Strike
I think Rebel Strike is a great game overall. It's got good graphics, good sountracks, very good gameplay and takes you a little beyond the movies. It's a decent challenge, althought it's pretty straightforward, and since it has unlockable levels it's still challenging after you've beaten the game. And, of course, for all you lazy cheaters out there, it has plenty of cheats and glitches- especially unlockable ships.
These are my ratings for this game:

Difficulty: 3/5- it's fairly challenging, though not exceptionally

Strategy (puzzles and things like that): 1/5- this game is pretty straightforward

    Graphics: 4/5- great, smooth graphics

Music: 5/5- this is an exceptional game as far as music goes, especially since it keeps true to the movies

Longevity (how long you're going to want to play the game): 3/5-
the normal levels go by pretty quickly, and after you unlock all the unlockable levels there's not much to do any more

Multiplayer: 4/5- Great multiplayer with several modes you can challenge your friends in and lots of ships and levels to use

Controls: 4/5- very good controls that are easy to use and use well

Characters: 3/5- decent characters but not too many new ones

Overall: 4/5- rebel strike is a great game overall and makes a great addition to any gamecube collection

    Pros:
    *Great graphics and music
*Good levels and a good plot that stay true to the movies but take you beyond the movies for extra fun
*Easy controls so you can make the best of your game
*Great variety of different worlds and ships to play with in single and multuplayer
*Great multiplayer with a good selection of ships, arenas and options so you can tweak the game to your liking

    Cons:
*Straightforward gameplay lacking a good amount of puzzles and strategy
    *Fairly short gameplay
*Not as challenging as many would hope

It's a great game overall so try it out soon. Enjoy it like i did!

4-0 out of 5 stars The force is strong with this one, but where is darth vader?
ok. Before reading this review i just want to say Star Wars RULES!!! now, When I first got this game i was really impresed by the opening when you see Darth Vader, Luke, Leia, Han solo, Chewie and the droids dancing disco! Well, this isnt what i came to tell you.
First of all, this game has awesome graphics, exelent gameplay, variety(foot missions and ship missions), good cutscenes (at the end of most missions you see our good friend Darth Vader talking with Palpatine) and a good two player mode.
This game has two campains as you might have read in other reviews, Luke's and Wedge's. at the begining of the game you are at yavin-4 a day after the death starI was destroyed and you have to kill many transport and go into a temple. At the end of the game you are at Endor as Chewie and then as Han to go destroy the shield generator wich protects the death starII. The extra missions, i don't want to give away what happens in them... In Wedge's campain you mostly use ships like the x-wing, Y-wing, Tie-hunter but the most impresive, Jedi Starfighter. In this Campain you also use the well known walker. Then in Lukes campain you also go in ships as well as in foot. But what really impressed me was that there are two campains were you actually use a lightsaver, one in Dagobah and one in the sarlac pit were you slice and dice many aliens, but unfortunately, no fighting with darth vader...
Another cool feature is the two player mode. Co-op mode takes you through the most exiting battles of the star wars trilogy, i mean all of Rouge leaders levels. Then you get the vs mode. its cool to shoot with a naboo starfighter a jedi-starfighter in the middle of an asteroid field.
Another cool extra is the original arcade wich you can unlock and play. They have bad graphics but are really exiting.

In conclusion, This game is really good soecially if you are a star wars fan. But as i told you, you dont get to fight darth vader(thats why it lost a point). I really recomend it, specially to play it with a friend.
May the force be with you...

4-0 out of 5 stars An okay game
This game is pretty good. The graphics are good and the controls are easy to use.The gameplay on flight missions is incredible and you can sit in the cockpit. The gameplay on the ground is okay. When you move it's almost like your a stick figure and it takes forever to kill people. But the controls are easy to use. The one bad part is you can only use a lightsaber on 2 levels. The game also includes bonus levels including a endurance level where you face people until you die. You can face Boba Fett on this level. Overall a good game. You get your money's worth. ...
