Roundabout Car Seat with LATCH - Cascade

    Editorial Review

Combining outstanding safety features with a comfortable ride is no easy task in designing a car seat. Adding style to that mix is more difficult still. Happily, the Roundabout puts all those elements together to create what could be the perfect seat for kids up to 40 pounds. It’s equipped with a 5-point harness and while it can be easily installed in any back seat, it is also outfitted for use with the LATCH system of car seat anchorage. As for comfort, picture a car seat combined with a teddy bear and you’ll have a pretty good idea what the Roundabout feels like. Soft brown padded fabric and straps that hold firmly while being gentle on the child. We were also impressed with the seat’s versatility. It adapts to different sized kids, the restraints snapped into place easily and the unit was simple to install and move. Another nice touch was the highly detailed instruction book, which clearly shows how to install the seat forward, backward, or even in airline seats. --John Moe ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Car Seat Out There
My wife and I had heard about this car seat from my sister that lives in Texas. Being that we were new to the whole baby car seat thing, we were looking for advice. She told us that it was the best car seat out there, and almost two years later I will have to say she was right.
Our little girl loves this seat, it has much better cushioning then most seats out there. Another thing is the fabric of the seat it self, it has been two years and it literally looks like new. We have friends who have car seats that have very little use and you can see every little stain on them not to mention the stiching coming undone. They like to kid us and say how we must wash the car seat cover every week, with a two year old, who really has the time to do that?
Our girl has used this car seat since comeing home from the hospital, and I will admit that for a newborn it is rather big (we bought the pillow with the sides on it to support her head) but still they grow so fast that I find it sort of stupid to buy one of those small car seats that they will out grow in 6 months, when this one is just as safe or even better.
The button on the front to release the straps in order to better fit them on your baby is incredibly easy to use. Unlike other car seats, it can be easily used in the front or back position and you don't have to be He-Man to pull the strap free.
Now if the only thing that is keeping you from buying this car seat is the price, well I will admit when we bought it I had my reservations about spending this much money on a car seat when there are others much less expensive. So being the true blue husband that I am, I decided that we should buy a less expensive car seat for our other car. What a waste of money! It is incredibly uncomfortable , the straps wobble and bend ( for you new parents out there, this is a major pain, believe me ,especially with a baby in your hands),the button to release the straps is a hassle and you really have to pull hard on them to give a little (my wife really hates that). To put it bluntly, it is not too expensive it is worth every penny. Oh and by buying this "less expensive" car seat I just threw $100.00 in the trash, and it was all my fault(my wife made me say that).
So it's no surprise that we are going to buy the Britax Marathonfor when our little girl gets too big for this one and leave the Roundabout for our next little bundle.
After reading all this if you are still not sure of what car seat to buy ,go to your local Toys r Us and try some out, if you're still not sure you must be insane. Buy it it's worth it, and so's your baby.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST CAR SEAT AROUND - HANDS DOWN!!!!
If you are in the market to buy a car seat - DON"T BUY ANYTHING BUT THE BRITEX!We have had ours for the past four years and it is wonderful. After a year of "changing" seats for our two cars we went and bought another "cheaper" model thinking, we would only be using it about 10% of the time. Well, after using the BRITEX there is no other car seat. We wished we spent the extra money for the 2nd seat and actually gave the other one away and bought another BRITEX. This car seat is so easy to use, you can get your kids in and out quickly and easily. The belts don't bunch up like others do and it lasts for a long time. My son is 4 and is still 36 lbs. so we have had it awhile. We bought another one when I had my 2nd child............ it is great if you have to take it out and put it in another car. Easy to install.... all car seats ARE NOT easy to install. With this one, you can't install it incorrectly and it installs tightly. This past summer my husband's car was hit broadside with the kids in it. Our car was hit so hard it rolled twice. The car was totaled, my husband who wore his seat belt had a head injury but how about the kids? Well, they were in their BRITEX car seats and were absoultely untouched. This can not be said for other car seats. I am sooo happy we spent the "extra" money for the BEST car seat around. You should too!
(No, I do not work for the company - just a very happy customer!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Still loving my Roundabout after 2 years!
Love this seat! We purchased this seat for my daughter when she was 5 months old and was too long for her infant carrier. She's just had her second birthday and we are still pleased. I was wondering if we needed to change her to a booster soon, so decided to look around. She is very tall for her age @ 36" and 30 lbs!

Well, I am happy to report that we are still able to use the seat for some time. The max for weight is 40lbs.I just have to check the height! I feel that age shouldn't have anything to with it as the manufacturer recommends. I didn't really have to check online for the weight requirements because I would find the manual conveniently located in the pouch provided and located on the back of the chair where you will need them~ outside in the car! Not in a folder in my file cabinet in my house. ~But, I was here looking at lightweight strollers anyway, so I checked it out.

I have always loved the safety and smart, stylish features my Britax seat provides... LATCH sytem, sturdy foam padded interior, plush comfortable seat that still looks great after lots of snacks ground into it and leaks of all sorts! Secure straps with a comfy pad in between the legs which is great for when she's wearing shorts, or just a bathing suit coming home from the beach. No pinching! Also love the velcro on the back of the straps keeping them against the sides of the seat so when we get into the car quickly I don't have to dig for them. We went through two New England winters before coming down south, and that was so convenient with bulky buntings and ski jackets!
The recline feature is nice for long rides or for an infant~ though mine always preferred to sit up and look around!

I always get wonderful comments from other moms and dads about our Roundabout, especially those whose kids are older. They're so jealous they didn't have such a convenient car seat! I'm also a former Nanny who has seen her share of flimsy car seats. Be confident when you spend the money for this seat. It is absolutely worth it. We're not the most affluent family and I've never had one second thought. When we have our next child he or she will be using Britax for sure, but what will I use for a booster seat for my growing toddler?

Britax Help! Please make a great booster 40-100 lbs. PLEASE!

Price is little high but totally worth it

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a Stroller for City Living
I purchased this stroller while still pregnant because of all the great reviews I've read. But no where was it ever mentioned the effectiveness on steps or public transportation. This stroller is in no way made for apartment living if you dont have a wheelchair ramp. I live on the first floor of a walk up building and have 2 short steps into the building then 4 steps to the first floor. Can you believe that the break gets engaged going up or down the steps and locks stroller onto step between step and footrest. I called the company and they said this stroller has to be totally lifted up and down the steps. How realistic is this? This has become the most expensive baby seat for in the house and can only be taken out when I have someone with me. I had to invest in a Mclaren Techno XT.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great...but not in the city
We bought this stroller after reading the section in Baby Bargains on city strollers which recommended the Venezia as being the best stroller for city living.I have to strongly disagree with them.Where we live in Philadelphia, the old sidewalks are very bumpy and uneven and the small wheels do not handle this well.It often gets stuck and I have to lift the front wheels to get over the smallest obstacles.

What I do like about this stroller is that it is so well made and versatile.I love the fact that I can change the direction she is facing to avoid the sun and the boot has been great now that the weather is getting colder.

I do not think that there is a "perfect" stroller out there but I do recommend getting one with bigger wheels if you live in a city. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

While a tad more expensive than most other baby carriers, BabyBjörn carriers offer parents some wonderful design features thatmake it well worth the extra money. By allowing you to hold your babysnugly against your chest, the carrier promotes a sense of comfort andcloseness between a parent and a child. It also allows you to maintaineye contact with and talk to your little one during trips to the store, walks around the house, and short hikes (for both mom and dad). Thecarrier's other big advantage is that it frees up both your hands whileyou carry your infant. The black carrier consists of a large triangularfront piece that supports baby's head and body, along with a set ofthick padded straps that are worn like a shoulder-and-waist harness.Newborns and smaller babies should always ride rear-facing in thecarrier, while older babies who can hold their heads upright unassistedcan ride forward-facing and enjoy the view ahead of them. Made ofmachine-washable 100 percent cotton, the carrier can be easily adjustedfrom the front for your baby's size. Although the carrier has beentested for use with babies who weigh from 8 to 25 pounds, some parentsfound that the carrier became uncomfortable to wear and placed a lot ofstrain on the lower back when it was used to carry a child weighingmore than 20 pounds. --Chris Burns ... I really liked this carrier, however, unless you plan on using it ALOT when the baby is small, you won't get your money's worth. My son was too big for this by 3 months.By the time I decided to take him out of the house, he barely fit in it.It might be a better idea to get a cheaper carrier. ... A good portable crib is an item that belongs squarely on any parent’s "gotta have" list and this Graco model is one of the best. It’s patterned in nicely muted pale green and beige and features mesh walls along the side so parent and baby can see one another. This model includes other thoughtful features not found in all portable cribs: a detachable bassinet, a toy bar with soft teddy bear faces that attach to a hanging canopy, and battery-powered vibration and music options. But the true test of any portable crib is, of course, how portable it truly is. We’re happy to report that it was a breeze to take apart and put back together. While travel with very young children is always unpredictable, everyone is bound to rest easier if this crib is packed along. --John Moe ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS PACK N PLAY!
This pack n play rocks. My baby loves it. I used it in my bedroom the first couple of months after she was born instead of a cradle or regular bassinet. The bassinet features are great espeically the vibration, my baby loves it! It's not too hard to assemble and pack up either. I just wish it all fit into the carring bag a little easier. All in all, this is a great pack n play and I recommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is great
I got this from my parents as a gift and I love it. It has everything on it that I wanted and its easy to pack up and store. The only thing I found that I didn't like was the chaging part he rolls and its very cold even with a blanket on it so we don't use it we change him on the floor. But over all its a great product and it last I suggest it for all mothers too be.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't wait to use it for baby #2
This was a great choice for our little one who is now 2 years old.We have a second on the way, and I know we will get the best use out of it again. In the beginning it was used mainly for a changing table downstairs, but the best thing about it was packing it up and taking it on trips. The baby loved to sleep in it with the little night lite and vibrating mat along with the music to play, she always felt at home when we traveled. Can't wait to pull it out again. We even have had family use it for their little ones when they visited us!Great all around buy! ... Read more

    Saratoga 6 Spd Swing

    Editorial Review

Parents looking for a high-quality baby swing that is safe and easy to use should consider this Gentle Choice open-top swing from Graco. Loaded with convenience features and accessories, the swing begins with a sturdy frame and a well-padded seat that reclines to one of four different angles for baby's comfort. A detachable infant insert has been included and the seat's five-point harness and plastic T-bar underneath the play tray keep baby securely in the seat when the swing is in operation. Parents can choose from among six different swing speeds and four timer settings, and the included music box will play up to 15 different melodies to help soothe baby as she swings. The swing is also equipped with removable toys on the play tray, and the overhead mobile can be easily pushed aside when you want to load or unload baby from the swing's seat. The swing requires four D batteries (not included) for operation. --Chris Burns ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this swing...
There is nothing spectacular about this swing.I found that the swing didn't recline far enough back for my son when he was a newborn and he wasn't actually able to sit in it until he was around 5 months old!I also found that the bear mobile, which is cute, sits to far up and back for him to even see it. It just was a complete waste of money for something I think we used a total of 5 times.Big disappointment!

3-0 out of 5 stars Love the print but...
We love the Saratoga print and decided to buy everything that came in it.Our son is 6 weeks old and loves the swing but my main complaint is the mobile. First, I thought the colors could've been a little brighter so he could see it better.I actually attached some Lamaze toys to each of the bears and he seems to like them better.Second, we are using the full reclining position and the mobile swings back out of his view. I've read this complaint on other reviews as well.My husband put some electrical tape around the part that fastens into the swing and that holds it in place so he can see it.My only other issue with the swing is that on the lower settings, the motor seems to make a lot of noise. The higher settings are quiet, though.

4-0 out of 5 stars Saragtiga Swing
My daughter is 3 months old and loves this swing. She loves the moblie of bears on the top. It keeps her busy for a good 20-30 minutes of time. She likes the toys on the table part, but I think they should of been made of softer fabric, not plastic. She does play with the globe filled with little colored balls. Tan Leather P Rima Pappa
Average Customer Review: 4.0 out of 5 stars
    Baby Product

US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

The Prima Pappa is a truly innovative highchair with lots of thoughtful and useful design elements. The metal-and-plastic frame folds flat, as does the tray; when unfolded, the whole setup is an exceptionally stable "A", and (great feature) it can be moved around on lockable casters. The padded PVC seat with tan leatherette cover has a full lap-and-shoulder harness, and a simple mechanism adjusts the height, from about 24 inches at the seat down to just 12 inches. The seat can also be tilted easily. The extra-large tray snaps off in a second. One possible disadvantage is that the stability and versatility come at the price of a large (28-by-24-inch) footprint--it's more the size of a baby swing than a traditional highchair. --Richard Farr ... 5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE THIS CHAIR!
Okay, let's get real.Babies are messy.Baby food is messy. If they can mash it and spread it everywhere, then it will happen. If you are a clean freak, then don't have a baby!Other reviews say this chair is smelly, hard to clean, etc.I love my Prima Pappa. After my messy 7-month old boy finishes his meal, he gets a wipe down and so does his chair. It takes about 30 seconds to clean.Once or twice a month (maybe), I give it a good overall cleaning with a little bit of mild soap and water.I have never noticed the chair looking gross or smelling gross.House guests compliment me on how clean I keep things, considering an infant lives here.(Ha!If they only knew!)If there is ANY high chair that exists that no one has to clean or wipe down daily, please let me know.And...whoever invented it will make millions! In a nutshell, all high chairs have to be cleaned, so just face the facts. It might as well at least LOOK good.

Overall, I am very pleased with the look and quality of this chair. It was so easy to assemble and is very easy to roll around wherever we are eating! The other high chairs at the store were just plain ugly and had just as many cracks, straps and crevices to clean.

A good friend of mine had a Graco high chair with a removable tray that you could pop in the dishwasher to clean. She thought this would be super easy!Well, her baby boy soon learned that he could also pick up the tray. After that, anything that went onto the tray also went up into the air, onto the floor, and even onto the ceiling. The Prima Pappa tray also removes but is "baby proof."Unless baby has Go-Go-Gadget arms, then this tray will stay put.Between all of my friends who have kids, we have owned every kind of high chair available. This is by far the best...

5-0 out of 5 stars Three words: "I LOVE IT!"
I was cheap at first and bought an inexpensive highchair thinking that would be the more reasonable thing to do considering it's just for eating...after I got it home, putting it together was just the beginning, it was a nightmare to say the least to operate. Thats when I decided to go the most expensive route and buy this, everyone made it sound so great, i'm glad i listened (had to order it elsewhere, cause they didn't have the color I wanted) but it's an absolute dream! It comes already assembled, which was a blessing and worth the money right off the bat for a 9 month pregnant lady with a husband that has NO patience for putting things together. The chair is so simple to use and looks great too, it's easy to set up, take down, wipe clean, etc... I think the $200 was well spent. Just remember,,,you get what you pay for, and it's totally true with highchairs. My nightmare brand was "evenflo" and seems that a lot of other women felt the same way, peg perego really proved their selves with this chair!!

2-0 out of 5 stars The Smelliest chair in town...
In a nutshell, I bought this chair because it looked attractive in our kitchen and I thought it would be very comfortable and safe. There is, however, no conceivable way to get this thing clean!Even with daily wiping down and disassembling, the chair has developed an odor from food getting caught in the straps and crevices. The tan leatherette has begun to deteriorate and crack after only 5 months! We must take it outside and hose down the frame weekly to keep down the colony of fruit flies that have taken up residence there. In short, it is a disgusting chair and I am even more disgusted that I paid $180 for it.I would not recommend this chair to anyone. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great bouncer
I love this bouncy chair. Our son had a great time playing in this seat. The sounds, lights and hanging toys kept him easily entertained. Very easy to wash! I would recommend this bouncer to consumers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for a baby who loves to kick!
My brother got this for us as shower gift.It has been indispensible! My daughter figured out pretty quickly how to make the music play, and has been mesmerized by it ever since! Now that she is almost three months old, she is starting to kick the toys that hang down, too. It's a really nice way to put her down while I cook or clean, but not have to put her directly on the floor (we have ceramic tile in our kitchen). It's small enough, too, to take places so that she has something to do at grandma's, ect.Between this and the Musical Garden Activity Mat, she is a happy, active baby!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST BOUNCER EVER!
I can't say enough about this bouncer.I have a 6 month old son that is still enjoying this seat.He can get it bouncing so good and just loves to be in it.It cradles him just right and I never worry about him falling out or off.He has been in it all 6 months and I don't know what I would do without it. The bar that you can take off is great for when he wants to play or we take it off for when he wants to bounce. One thing is that if he gets bouncing with the toy bar on, it does kinda get him in the face, but he just lets me know and we take it off.I recomend this bouncer for all new moms needing somewhere to sit their child and feel safe about leaving the room for a moment! ... I didn't like this swing, it doesn't recline enough and the music leaves a lot to be desired.I used it maybe twice and my son is now seven months old.I do have a friend who used it constantly and loved it, so I guess it's a matter of personal preference.Plan to buy a lot of batteries, it sucks the life out of them quickly.

1-0 out of 5 stars A horrible product!!
I got this swing thinking how nice it would be to have one when I am on the go.The swing is so poorly designed that the seat does not recline far enough for a new born to sit in it properly. My daughter's head flopped forward and once she actually fell out of it because the seat belt does not hold her in place. If the baby is to heavy the swing will not move well and to heavy seems to be about 10 lbs.Don't waste you money on this one!!60.00 is way to much money to spend onthisitem!!

1-0 out of 5 stars A cheap piece of garbage
I got this for my now 21 month old daughter for her first birthday and I just dumped it by the trash can a few minutes ago for the garbage men to pick up. It's not even worth saving for my summer garage sale. She was never all that intrigued with it, so it hardly got any use aside from throwing the little balls around the rest of the house. It was difficult to construct in the first place, but I finally got it put together...and it seemed to be fine. But when i picked it up to take it to the alley today, the entire top ring was falling off of it and the battery plate fell off - again, after hardly any use in the last 9 months since it has been sitting in the living room. The inflatable ball never stayed inflated due to poor design of the blow hole. The way the sensor works makes the toy especially ridiculous. You have to have it in a where sunlight can't hit it, and with solid colored florring (i.e. no patterned carpet). The sensor sets the sound off at any indication of a shadow change, so as the sun comes through the window the incesent laughter and music can suddenly come on as if possessed. And we also have persian rugs in the house, so when my daughter would crawl under it the toy couldn't tell the difference in the shadows so it wouldn't go off when you wanted it to.

Don't buy this toy...looks as though it may not be available any more anyway because I can't find it on Fisher Price's website...and Amazon says it is out of stock, but other stores online still have it...so be warned...it is simply not worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for physical development
This toy is designed well for use by an infant, and did a world of good for my baby. Bending over to pick up balls while holding onto the sides, holding on while walking and interacting with other touch sensitive parts were valuable physical skills my daughter learned while playing with this toy.
The fun music and sound effects are great. It is touch sensitive to action, and placing balls on the track is rewarding. My daughter's physical therapist used this with her each week until she learned to walk.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Fun
We bought this toy for our youngest daughter when she was 8 months old.It is so much fun!She loves it.The music is very catchy even for me and it makes her break out dancing every time it comes on!Her 7 year old sister and 5 year old brother play with it just as much as she does! And the battery lasts FOREVER!! ... Activity mats are a staple baby item in most households. They provide a safe, fun, and educational environment where your little one can lie or sit, and play. Tiny Love's award-winning deluxe mat depicts a riot of happy animals. Elephants, monkeys, giraffes, and even birds will charm your baby who will love the round mirror, squeaky bird, crinkly elephant ear, and pullable giraffe tail. Also included are four plastic rings that can hang from the crossbars, each one with a different plush animal attached to it providing more stimulation and activities. Hidden in one corner of the playmat is a small plastic box housing a switch and speaker. Move the switch to Mozart to hear 10 continuous minutes of music and to light up the three flowers on the mat. Switch to Nursery Tunes for shorter snippets of three popular songs. The mat and its arches fold up nicely, and the entire gym snaps together and travels easily. --Pam Lauer ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Product
My daughter absolutely loves her playmat. She usually doesn't like to be laid down, but she will play on this mat for about twenty minutes at a time. It has great music and light-up-flowers that she loves. Also, she used to hate being put on her tummy, but now she can lay on her tummy and watch herself in the mirror or watch the lights. I highly recommend this playmat against others!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent play gym
This is a great play gym. Our kids loved it from about 3 months on. It has a lot of great features like a mirror, cute animals on the mat (which they like to look at), a monkey rattle, a giraffe rattle, an elephant whose trunk expands and vibrates, lights and music. We even loaned this to friends and their child loved it as well.

I washed it about 5 or 6 times and it has held up very well. I washed it on cold and dryed it on low. I recommend this toy as it is very entertaining and it folds for travel.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best one of them all!
I think we received every single play center offered in this website, but this one is by far the best!My baby loves it.He will not get tired of playing with it.The music chimes, sold separately are also a must.I suggest that if you want to registed for the best one, this is it.It is good for tummy time and for playing on their backs. ... No ordinary Boppy (which is already quite extraordinary), thisfive-in-one version of the popular nursing pillow comes with its ownactivity arch that hooks on to four clips on the base of the pillow. The pillow itself is made of hypoallergenic, 100 percent cotton and canbe used just like a standard Boppy pillow--for nursing, helping babysit up during playtime, and as a cozy pillow for lying on. With ninefabric loops, detachable plastic clips, and room for up to six Sassydevelopment toys, the black-and-white activity arch adds an additionallevel of visual stimulation for little ones. The Boppy comes with threecolorful Sassy toys, but you can easily add additional toys to the archor change their positions to keep baby interested. 5-0 out of 5 stars fun for baby, great for mom...
my husband loved this at first sight but I didn't register for it... thankfully, a friend got it for us as a shower present! Not only is it cute but it's really versatile.I only used it as a nursing pillow for the first month, while my son was having trouble latching on.Instead of worrying about having a cover for it, I just folded a receiving blanket in half and put it between my son & the pillow to keep it clean from baby leaks. These days it's a great source of entertainment for my 12-week-old son: the only way to get him to do tummy time without getting frustrated and a great "gym" for him to bop toys with his arms or legs.If you get this, just remember to rotate where the toys hang from to keep it interesting, and buy a few extras for variety (I've added a Sassy Smoochie Poochie to the gym and also use the toys from his Fisher Price Infant to Toddler Rocker). If I'd known how much use I'd get out of this, I would've definitely registered for it.However, if you want this primarily as a nursing pillow, get the plain Boppy instead -- I agree with previous reviewers that it's cumbersome to add & remove the hanging bars.

1-0 out of 5 stars BOPPY GOOD, BUT 5-IN-1 BOPPY A DISASTER !!!
I got this after having a simple Boppy pillow for me to use for my son when I fed him.The original simple boppy was great.I used it all the time to feed him since he ate for the first few months almost hourly (you moms know what I am talking about)... and my poor arms and back would get tired and sore from holding him, plus sometimes I was sooo tired during those 3, 4, or 6 a.m. feedings it was great to have something to support his weight for me.

Anyways, I then got this Boppy 5-in-1 Gym for him to play with.It was a disaster as every time he played with it the little loops and hooks that held it together would come undone and the whole "gym"/toy bars would come crashing down on him.He would get hit in the head or face Every Time! After several attempts to try to get them to stay and make them safer, I gave up.The boppy part worked great (after I took the bars off and used it as a second boppy for feeding) and the toys definitely caught his attention but it kept falling apart and hurting him so the use of it as a 5-in-1 toy/play-thing made it's purchase a waste. Also, whenever I would use the boppy to prop my baby up (like the 5-in-1 suggests) he would just either slide down it with his neck bent in a bad way, roll completely off it, or would get wedged into it wrong. It did not support him as it should of and the scariest thing was when he slid on his stomach (laying across the boppy propped up) face down into it and couldn't breathe!

Since I had such a good experience with the original boppy I thought I'd be loyal and take this "bad unit" back to the store and get it exchanged for a new 5-in-1 (after all I was still under my 30 days purchased time for store return)... perhaps the one I had gotten was defective.I was Soooo wrong. The second Boppy 5-in-1 I bought did the same exact thing.Do your baby a favor and go and get another toy for a play mat and an original boppy for you (it'll save you arms and back from the strain during feeding time).I got rid of my Boppy 5-in-1 for my baby's safety... and I did watch him all the time in it.Imagine what could of happened if I had ever left for even just a momment. It looks very cute (comes in sooo many patterns), and is very inexpensive, but it is not quality safety planning on the company's part.
Incidentaly, I did find a play mat (very nice cloth one my son loves - - - still and he's now 3 1/2) that has bright colors, baby safe mirror, and toys on it that is very safe that is made by fischer-price for just around $20, and they still sell it.It is a simple looking cloth play mat that baby either sits on or lays on but it is very entertaining and several kids I introduced to it for play over the years still like it deespite getting to be up to 2 or 3 years old.It is also easy to clean... just throw in the washing machine and hang it up to dry.It is great and I will be using it with the baby I am currently expecting... and an original, simple boppy for feeding.

3-0 out of 5 stars Looks good!
I was very excited about purchasing this boppy as compared to just the breastfeeding ones without the toys, however, I found the boppy awkward to use during breastfeeding as my baby kept sliding down between the boppy and me.She too (now 3 months) has the problem of not resting comfortably in it while playing as she constantly slides down and becomes fussy.

I'm now a little disappointed I didn't buy the similar playset where the baby lays down flat on their back. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Comfortable
I spent a couple hours trying gliders at a local Babies R Us and nothing compared to the Dutailier chairs for comfort. They're a bit pricey, but the quality is decent and they're very comfortable.

There was another Dutailier I would have preferred to get because it was cheaper, it reclined, and it had a slightly higher head rest. I'm 6 feet tall and when I sit up straight in this one my head can sort of touch the wood. I assume this will get a bit more noticable once we break the cushions in some more. Regardless it's still a really comfortable chair. Besides we bought this particular model because it was in stock, had a clearance discount, and we were in desparate need of a chair for nighttime feeding.

I hope it stands up over the years, I plan on using it for the next baby and then TV watching after that.

1-0 out of 5 stars I am appalled
I bought a Simmons Baby Beautyrest sight-unseen from Babies R Us when I ordered my crib for delivery. It arrived wrapped in plastic, and when I took the plastic off the stink of vinyl filled the room.I put a fan on the mattress for three days and the smell never dissipated.I decided I'd better return it -- if I wouldn't sleep on it, why should I put my baby on it?Well, it turns out that all of the major brand-name mattresses sold at BRU have vinyl ticking (the outer fabric).I suppose many people think this is a good idea because it makes the mattress moisture-resistant, but to me it's like expecting my baby to sleep in the car -- vinyl is toxic!Don't believe me?[...] order the Blue Vinyl DVD from Amazon.

[...]I'm not happy about spending three times as much for a mattress, and if Simmons, Kolcraft, and Sealy are smart, they'll start to offer something in-between -- a quality mattress with a water-resistant wool ticking that costs around two hundred dollars.

With a newborn in the house, vinyl/pvc/plastics are unavoidable, but I can avoid forcing my baby to breathe vinyl fumes from her mattress for the 12-16 hours a day that she is sleeping.I hope these manufacturers, and Babies R US, wise up and start offering something better.

2-0 out of 5 stars Extra firm...too hard for some
My daughter never could sleep on this mattress in her crib. I decided to try it on her toddler bed since I thought it didn't make sense to buy a new crib mattress when she already had one and she'll need a twin mattress in a few years anyway. She still doesn't like this mattress. At first I thought she just wanted to sleep in my bed, but when we were away for the holidays she slept on one of those foam fold out toddler sofa/beds and she went right to sleep as soon as she climbed onto it. The problem is clearly the mattress. I lie down with her when she's crying because she can't get to sleep, and if I stay on the mattress too long I get up with pains in my hip and legs that last into the next day. No matter how many pillows I use between myself and the mattress it is painfully uncomfortable. I'm looking for a new mattress now because this one just isn't working.

    4-0 out of 5 stars 27 1/4 inches not 27
I almost did not get this mattress because this website lists it as only 27 inches.FYI - I went to the store, and it says on the package that it is 27 and 1/4 inches. This is importnat because my crib specifically states not to get any mattress smaller than 27 1/4 inches.I gave it a 4 out of 5 because I havent used it yet.But it seems very firm. ... This kit comes with all parents need to monitor both video and sound from two rooms. The bright-green and white plastic cameras are only 5 inches across and can either sit flat on a table or be wall mounted. (A drill with a 3/16-inch bit is needed for wall mounting.) The cameras can be swiveled, turned, and pried in a multitude of directions and even have infrared LEDs that transmit grainy night pictures. The monitor is also fairly small, with a 5-inch diagonal screen, but easy enough to move thanks to a convenient carry handle. The on/off switch is placed on the front side, and a special snooze button on top allows the video feature alone to be turned off. There are also red sound lights on the front of the monitor that light up according to each noise's intensity. The unit operates at 900 MHz, meaning it may interfere with other wireless products. Additional cameras and monitors are available from the manufacturer, but probably not worth it as this unit has only three transmission channels. Any more than two cameras would mean that all three channels must be used regardless of reception problems. --David Morel ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great for the price
I purchased this monitor after my Safety First video monitor stopped working after 3 years (no picture on the screen suddenly). My friend also purchased this Quiet Sounds monitor and is unhappy that the picture is not crystal clear. The buyer has to realize that it is not a TV. The picture will show what your child is doing, but not with the clarity of a TV.For the price, I think it works great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great piece of equipment
This monitor works great and allows me to just turn on the switch to see if my son is ok if he cries out in the night.Disagree with other reviews that say only works in rural as I live in suburban Washington DC (and I have never had to turn off any other electronic equip in house.)I only wish I would have bought the one with two cameras so I can have one on my son who is 2 and one on my newborn.Plan to order one from manufacturer.Definitely in my top 3 things a family must have!

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible waste of money!
My husband and I bought this video monitor thinking we were getting the latest technology in baby monitors.Boy, were we wrong! The picture we got was nothing but static and lines and the sound was nothing but high-pitched squealing! We returned it the same day and bought the Safety 1st brand, but hated that too.Don't spend your money on video until they improve the technology. You'll be throwing the extra $100 out the window! ... Angel Care Monitor

    Baby Product

US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

Designed for parents who want to maximize their ability tomonitor baby from another room, this deluxe Angelcare System combines ahigh-quality sound monitor with an extremely sensitive motion sensorpad. After placing the nearly flat sensor pad underneath a cribmattress and plugging it into the nursery monitor, the system can beset for sound and movement detection together, or it can be used like atraditional nursery monitor for sound only. With a range of up to 300feet, the parent's unit (or receiver) does a good job of picking up themonitor's signal from nearly any room in the house. However, likenearly all nursery monitors, the Angelcare System is subject toexternal interference in the form of occasional noise and annoyingstatic. As long as baby does not wiggle completely off of the motionsensor pad, thus triggering an alarm, the system does an excellent jobof monitoring even the slightest movements. Along with two differentchannels and three volume settings, the monitor is equipped with anoptional ticking function that will let parents know, with anintermittent ticking sound, that the monitor is still picking upmovement. The system comes with two 9-volt AC adapters for the nurseryand parent's units. --Chris Burns ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars SO HAPPY TO HAVE THIS MONITOR
Couldn't ask for better. Had some false alarms recently after 4 & 1/2 months, but I just realized the sensitivity was turned all the way down, and seems all better since I adjusted it. I'd recommend this monitor to anyone who loves their child & has enough money to buy it.We feel much safer with it on.:)

5-0 out of 5 stars My "real" Guardian Angel
The Angel Care Monitor has been my true "Guardian Angel" and I highly recommend it to everyone! Our baby had Sleep Apnea when he was first born. The Health Nurse pointed it out to us by showing us the blue ring around his mouth caused by "lack of circulation", that would go away when he would finally took a breath of air. We had "LUCKILY" already had the Angel Care monitor, thanks to my best friend. The alarm did infact go off a few times in the first 2 weeks we were home, but we were not surprised because of his Sleep Apnea. I can honestly say, I could never sleep without it! I actually took it on vacation with me and although I wanted the baby to sleep with me, I wanted him even more to sleep with the Angel Care monitor. At 7 weeks old, it went off again in the middle of the night and I grabbed my son immediately from what seems to have been a "very deep" sleep...but, who knows really! He is now 4 months and he has been in his own room for just 2 nights... well it went off again this evening!...I ran into his room and he was visibly not breathing or like before in a "very deep" sleep...but again who really knows! I gave him a little shack and he started to move around and finally took a breath. I am one of the few people who love to hear my baby cry at 3AM and I am always happy to go to his side and snuggle him!

My husband and I were talking minutes before about what if we won the lottery and he was being selfish by saying,"I would get a plane and a boat and and and"...it was second later that the Alarm had went off. I try to be humble and see our world as a whole. I try to "live simply, so that other may simply live".

After I knew my son was okay, I lectured my husband to just be thankful for what we have: a happy secure and safe home and a beautiful healthy son! I cried tonight because I love my son so much and even though it scares me when the Alarm goes off, it always make me put life in perspective and cherish every second I have with him. I think we all need that once in a while.

Some people get annoyed when they forget to turn off the monitor, but I often pick up my baby and wait to hear the beep from the alarm, just to know it is working...and it always does!

Angel Care has never failed us and I can honestly say it is my "real" Guardian Angel that sends me sweet dreams every night! It is well worth the value and it is an excellent product! Everyone deserves an Angel in their lives!

    Sweet Dreams

5-0 out of 5 stars a must for new, nervous parents!!!
This monitor truly is a must have for all new, nervous parents!!!My husband and I had our first son in Nov. and were not sure what monitor to register for prior to our shower. A friend who had recently become a mother highly recommended this product, and are we glad she did!If no motion is detected in 15 sec., then an alarm goes off (it's loud!!).The first night our son slept in the crib at 3 weeks old, he squirmed his way off of the sensor pad, thus causing the alarm to go off. We ran into the nursery only to find him at the opposite end of the crib! What a relief that he was o.k., but also a relief to find out that this product truly does what it advertises! The sensor pad is so sensitive that it is almost hard to believe that it could pick up a baby's breathing, but it does. Although that was the first and only time so far that he's gotten off of the sensor pad. I'm sure it'll happen again as he get's bigger and older, and b/c the sensor pad isn't that large. But, that is ok as the peace of mind it brings now is worth it. It also has a nice feature, that you can have the 'tic' sound on or off.The sound part is very sensitive also.Every little sound our son makes,no matter how faint get's picked up, so we know he's o.k. when we hear him. This product is higher priced than some other monitors, but for the peace of mind it brings, I would highly recommend it!!! ... The Diaper Genie is one of this decade's most talked-about babyitems. By providing a convenient, sanitary storage container for yourdirty diapers, the Diaper Genie will help you keep your nursery andchanging table neat, organized, and odor free. The Wide Opening DiaperGenie employs a simple yet effective Twistaway disposal system: justlift up the childproof safety lid, push a dirty diaper into the wideopening, and twist the inner rim to seal the diaper in a fragrant, plastic barrier. The lightweight unit uses blue, wide opening DiaperGenie refills only (original Diaper Genie refills will not fit), andyou can fit up to 25 medium-size diapers into the Genie at one time.Along with its compact size (19.5 inches high), one nice advantage ofthe Genie is that you don't have to empty it over a garbage can. 1-0 out of 5 stars DIAPER GENIE TAKES A CRAP ON THE ENVIRONMENT
The Diaper Genie is a disgusting system that takes already environmentally-unfriendly disposable diapers and makes them even worse by wrapping them in more layers of plastic. Plus, once they end up in a landfill, the diapers decompose/biodegrade even more slowly beacuse of all the extra layers of plastic they're wrapped in! The person who called this invention an environmental nightmare was correct! If you have to use disposable diapers, fine, but don't getDiaper Genie.

3-0 out of 5 stars Figure out if you really need it!!
I received a diaper genie as a gift and it sounded great but we ended up not really needing it.We used all the time at first, then only for "stinkys" then quit using it altogether. For us it was just as easy to toss the diapers in the main house trash. We live in the boonies and have to take our garbage to the dump so house trash goes to the barn pretty much daily.Once your baby is mobile, you're probably not going to keep it in their room, my guys figured out how to knock it over and open it, not only gross but dangerous since there are some sharp cutting edges any averagely resourceful kid can get at.The other thing to consider, if you are even remotely environmentally concious, this thing is an environmental nightmare, not only are you encasing the dirty diapers in extra plastic, you then need another bag for the diaper "sausage".Essentially the diapers get wrapped in extra plastic twice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why keep diapers so long?
Any diaper system will stink if you don't empty it. This one works great. If you are worried about the smell, you're probably not cleaning it out in a timely manner. Who wants to keep dirty diapers in their baby's room for two days?

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth trying
Our baby had some problems with gas when she was very small, even though she was nursing. When she took a bottle, we started using these and we did notice a difference. I can imagine that they're not quite as convenient when mixing formula, since it says all over the instructions not to shake liquid in the bottles.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best bottles every - once you learn the tricks
I love these bottles and have been using them for my twin girls since week 2 of their lives (week 1 was spent fighting with the wide necked version of this bottle)Once we figured out how to prevent all leaks, these bottles are amazing and speed up feeding time since baby can drink continuously.
HELPFUL HINT for all Dr. Brown bottles: When pulling nipple thru the collar, everytime run your finger around the base of the nipple inside the plastic collar to make sure it is fully seated before screwing nipple and collar on to the bottle. Eliminates leaks completely. And do NOT over-tighten collar onto bottle. Again, will prevent leaks. We learned all of these tricks the hard way! :)

    DR. BROWN'S BOTTLES-

    Pros:
    1. No more suction "pulling" and noises, as with other bottles such as Avent which can be annoying and frustrating for both baby and mommy. These bottles are suction-free.
    2. Less gassy baby, though gas still not completely eliminated.
3.Nipple is much softer than on other bottles, more like actual breast feeding, and more comfortable for the baby to suck on.
4.Less frequent spitting up, but again, spitting up will still occur with these bottles.

    Cons:
1.Hassle to clean and time consuming.
    2.More expensive than other bottles.
3.Leak!!!!These bottles cannot be shaken, and cannot be warmed up with the nipples attached, or they will boil over and leak like mad.Make sure you remove the nipple and ring before you heat the bottle!Attach it after!!!!
4.The cap is annoying to snap on and off (wide bottles only). The plastic is a little too hard and tight.
5.If you're on-the-go, it is hard to fill the bottle and handle all of the parts if you don't have a clean surface to put the parts down on.
6.Take longer to heat than other bottles.I don't know why but it must have something to do with the plastic, which seems thicker than on other bottles.

I GIVE IT 4 STARS BECAUSE IT ISN'T PERFECT.BUT I SUPPOSE IT'S THE BEST OF WHAT'S CURRENTLY OUT IN THE MARKET.

NOTE:If your baby is spitting up because of acid reflux or some other gastro problem, these bottles are NOT your sole answer. You should use them in conjunction with either medication (such as Zantac) and/or with a predigested formula such as Nutramigen.Consult your doctor. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

It only takes one try to discover that most children don't likea rectal thermometer--and who can blame them? The more comfortablemouth or underarm readings are often inaccurate; this thermometer takesa reading from an ear in just one second. The ear is a more reliableindicator of body temperature because it shares blood supply with thehypothalamus, which regulates temperature control in the brain. Tofurther guarantee an accurate reading, the thermometer measures thetemperature eight times in one second. The memory mode stores up toeight readings, so you can track fluctuations easily. If you're anewcomer to the world of feverish children, the instruction book givestemperature guidelines to help interpret the numbers. And, since athermometer may be too practical for a fun gift, there's a cute Gundteddy bear included--just the thing for a sick child. --LauraCuthbert ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Accurate!!!!!
I purchased this product for the convenience.Although it is easy to use, it is very inaccurate. On more than one occasion, I have received different readings. The last time I used it on my 10 year old, it read 98.7.I then took his temp with a traditional oral thermometer and he had a fever of 103.3!!!!! I would not recommend this thermometer to anyone. It is simply not accurate enough where your child's health is at stake.

5-0 out of 5 stars It works great and DOES fit in an infants ear...
I have 1month old twins, when Lily was 12 days and only 6lbs big she developed a fever. She is obviously small and the themometor fit fine...you dont have to push it way in for it to work.I was unsure too of how accurate it was...she had a fever of 100.7 and had to go into the hospital..at the hospital she had the exact same temp 100.7 so it was just as accurate as what they use in the ER.I was very happy to find that out( not that she was sick ofcourse..horrible experience) and that it is reliable.I would tell anyone to buy this item!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Product
We purchased this product for our first child, and we have always had accurate readings with it. The only drawback is that you have to make sure you always have extra lens filters on hand - it doesn't work without them, and they are not always easy to find. ... Read more
