    Editorial Review

The Diaper Genie is one of this decade's most talked-about babyitems. By providing a convenient, sanitary storage container for yourdirty diapers, the Diaper Genie will help you keep your nursery andchanging table neat, organized, and odor free. The Wide Opening DiaperGenie employs a simple yet effective Twistaway disposal system: justlift up the childproof safety lid, push a dirty diaper into the wideopening, and twist the inner rim to seal the diaper in a fragrant, plastic barrier. The lightweight unit uses blue, wide opening DiaperGenie refills only (original Diaper Genie refills will not fit), andyou can fit up to 25 medium-size diapers into the Genie at one time.Along with its compact size (19.5 inches high), one nice advantage ofthe Genie is that you don't have to empty it over a garbage can. Whenit is full you can just unlatch the bottom of the Genie, pull out theshort train of wrapped diapers, and take it out to the garbage canwithout making a mess. The Diaper Genie comes with instructions forassembly. --Chris Burns ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars DIAPER GENIE TAKES A CRAP ON THE ENVIRONMENT
The Diaper Genie is a disgusting system that takes already environmentally-unfriendly disposable diapers and makes them even worse by wrapping them in more layers of plastic. Plus, once they end up in a landfill, the diapers decompose/biodegrade even more slowly beacuse of all the extra layers of plastic they're wrapped in! The person who called this invention an environmental nightmare was correct! If you have to use disposable diapers, fine, but don't getDiaper Genie.

3-0 out of 5 stars Figure out if you really need it!!
I received a diaper genie as a gift and it sounded great but we ended up not really needing it.We used all the time at first, then only for "stinkys" then quit using it altogether. For us it was just as easy to toss the diapers in the main house trash. We live in the boonies and have to take our garbage to the dump so house trash goes to the barn pretty much daily.Once your baby is mobile, you're probably not going to keep it in their room, my guys figured out how to knock it over and open it, not only gross but dangerous since there are some sharp cutting edges any averagely resourceful kid can get at.The other thing to consider, if you are even remotely environmentally concious, this thing is an environmental nightmare, not only are you encasing the dirty diapers in extra plastic, you then need another bag for the diaper "sausage".Essentially the diapers get wrapped in extra plastic twice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why keep diapers so long?
Any diaper system will stink if you don't empty it. This one works great. If you are worried about the smell, you're probably not cleaning it out in a timely manner. Who wants to keep dirty diapers in their baby's room for two days?

    Editorial Review

This talking book comes with an interactive "magic pen" that works like a hand-held computer mouse pointer. Children can opt to turn the paper pages and listen to the story read with different voices for each character. Or they can interrupt the read-aloud session to play with the magic pen (permanently attached with a wire). They can point the pen tip to any word on a page and hear it pronounced, or touch a picture and hear a sound effect (such as "Strike one!" for the baseball bat). Very similar to the popular Living Books computer games, this 10-by-11-inch book is more portable than a home computer. Stories in this set include Lil's Loose Tooth, Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever, and Winnie the Pooh in A Sweet Good Morning. The set also includes a paper piano keyboard and map and human anatomy games.--Gail Hudson ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I would pick this over the writer's Leappad
I have both a LeapPad+Writing and regular LeapPad like this one, and I can honestly say that the extra writing feature is not worth the extra money.Stick with the LeapPad regular and get a lot of LeapPad readers.Make sure that you don't buy this if you have babies that tear things up, though. My son has all the LeapPad books, but half of them are unsalvageable because of my toddler that likes to chew on EVERYTHING.The LeapFrog customer service is awesome, though... they have replaced my books for $10 each so I don't have to go out to buy new ones!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Toy I have ever bought
I bought a pink and purple LeapPad for my daughter when she was three for Christmas. She is five now and still plays with it every single day. Everytime a birthday or Christmas rolls around she asks for more LeapPad books. This toy has been a godsend during car and plane trips, hotel and restaurant entertainment, and any other situation when children need to sit still.

She has learned the alphabet, numbers, spelling, and reading from countless hours on this pad. She owns several books and each get used all the time. I think this is honestly the best toy invented in a long time. She has been able to figure it out because it is well thought out for the young user. They can hit the stop button with the pen to stop it, or hit the Go button to continue each story. Each book also has games and other activities, so they are well worth the money. It is impossible for my daughter to get bored with it because each book is countless hours of reading, games, music, and excitement.

I encourage all parents of young children to buy this LeapPad. It is well worth the money. It is a toy that they will not grow out of in a short amount of time because the books range in ages.It is not only educational but very durable. Our LeapPad has been dropped countless times and is still intact. The only complaint I do have is that it tends to consume batteries quickly and you need a screw driver to take off the cover to put new ones in. Other than that, that is the only negative I have to say about the LeapPad.

2-0 out of 5 stars Toooo sloooowww for my boy
My boy has the attention span of a 4 year old. Why? Because he is 4 years old. He has no patience for the slow pace of age-appropriate leap pad materials. The learning games are too short, too slow, and too repetitive for him. ... Read more

    Kasey the Kinderbot
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
    Toy
    list price: $74.99

    Editorial Review

Kasey the Kinderbot is so interactive kids won’t feel like they’re being fed yet more education. Just don’t mention that he’s a "learning toy." Play up all of the top-notch bells and whistles: a cute noggin holding great-sounding speakers; limbs that rotate wherever you’d expect them to; and large, color-coded buttons and lights.

Kasey’s 40+ functions supplement the educational regimens kids are already studying, and a few others: reading, math, phonics, spelling, problem-solving, observation, art, physical fitness, foreign languages, animal identification, and even etiquette. And get this: Kasey also offers music and stretch breaks between lessons. He comes with one cartridge loaded with a bevy of entertaining lessons; other learning cartridges can be purchased separately. The only downsides: there is no computer port for downloading, no power adapter cord to let you avoid buying more of the required "D" batteries, and the LCD screen is only 2.5 square inches, with no color. Requires three "D" batteries (not included). --Diane Beall ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What a learning tool!
Our 3 year old boy absolutely loves Kasey! He has learned so much from him and has had him since he was just about 2 years old.He knows 6 words in Spanish, learned how to count, spell and lots more with Kasey, he is like a member of our family! Thanks Kasey and Fisher-Price!

5-0 out of 5 stars My 3 year old LOVES his KASEY!!!!
And so do I.It has a volume control on it to boot! This is the PERFECT educational toy to hold my little mans attention while I get some housework done.He EVEN knows how to change the learning functions on the back.He LOVES IT and will probably love it for a long time more....when he outgrows it, it will go to his baby brother or sister who is on the way.

4-0 out of 5 stars too loud
this is a very loud toy even when you put down the volume even my son who is 3 taught it was too loud and turned it off automatically. The only thing he seems to do with Kasey is singing and dancing. He used his leappad more for educational purposes. This toy just doesn't interest him and is the last he will play with and only for a short time.Leapfrog system is much better if looking for educational value. ... Silly Golf
Average Customer Review: 3.5 out of 5 stars
    Toy
    list price: $24.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

Goofy gophers Chip, Birdie, and Spike stand in the way of a hole-in-one on the mini green that is Silly Golf. Set up the tiny electronic golfing green and try to get your ball into the cup, while the gophers chatter away. If you hit a gopher he'll sink back into his hole and keep on chattering. The plastic putters have score markers on them so you can keep track of your game. The critters are pretty cute and the game was easy enough for 3- to 6-year-olds to play without getting frustrated (can't promise the constant chattering won't frustrate any adults nearby), but we were disappointed that the putters are obviously made for right-handers. Our left-hander didn't have a problem using the putter, which is only molded on the right-handed side, but it would have been so easy for the manufacturer to make both sides smooth for putting. Requires three C batteries (not included). --M. Sullivan ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Can Hurt You
my child got hurt with the golf club. the inside of his palm got stuck between the head of the club and the stick as he was turning it to pull it apart.
Hasbro is going to review it. (my son is 5 years old)

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun Toy For Preschoolers
My daughter aged 4 loves all of the "Silly" toys. This toy does come apart easily, but it is also easy to put back together. We've played with it for hours without it coming apart, just needs to be on a flat surface. She also loves to just hit the little gophers as they pop up.

2-0 out of 5 stars DONT BUY IT
My sons 2 and 4 played with this toy for about 10 minutes after setting it up.We all hated the way it fell apart when moved, and the balls didnt always go where they were supposed to.When in storage, you need to take out the batteries for the thing to shut up, otherwise you hear it in the closet in the middle of the night. My husband said he turned the switch off, but it was faulty. The boys had more fun hitting each other with the clubs, than trying to sink the balls. My recommendation....dont buy it. Ours found a permanent placement in the garbage. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Set -- Warning about "Frosty Returns"!
A fantastic DVD set.My whole family loves it.But know that the "Frosty Returns" DVD is the one done in the 90s with John Goodman as the voice of Frosty, NOT the one from our childhood where Frosty marries the Shelly Winters-voiced character.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT DVD Value! Bonus CD "OK."Timeless!!!
I'm an early thirty something father who grew up with these wonderful movies.Of course it was much different then, as many of these movies were aired just once a year!Part of me thinks there is something wrong with watching these movies anytime, as it takes something from the experience.Of course that did not stop me from purchasing these DVD's.I am very happy with the packaging and quality of movies. The bonus CD has been criticized by many in these reviews.I too am not a fan of the "bonus cd," but I also realize I am not a young child that may not have a problem with it.The songs are covers tracks from the DVD's.I think just about any non original version would seem odd to me.I will agree a male singer does sound like he might be a Judie Garland impersonator on the weekends.Keep in mind, it is a "bonus cd."Overall, GREAT value.I wonder who enjoys them more, my 4 year old son or me....

5-0 out of 5 stars Christmas is not complete without this collection!
This box set contains some of the most timeless and unforgettable Christmas specials: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Coming To Town, The Little Drummer Boy, Frosty the Snowman and Frosty Returns. I can remember watching these specials since the beginning and they have become a regular Christmas tradition. The only difference now is that I can watch them whenever and as much as I want to instead of waiting for them to air on television. Twenty-seven dollars was a fair price and it is definately a high-quality product that I will enjoy anytime I want to.

My personal favorite on this collection is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. I have probably seen it more than any other Christmas special. We all know the basic story of how Rudolph's red nose gets him much ridicule from the other reindeer and how it is his nose that saves Christmas, but until you have seen this version you are missing out on the best telling of the story. The stop-motion animation style is classic, the songs will stick in your head forever, and you will probably find that it is a Christmastime must. In my opinion it is the best of the Rankin-Bass specials. Next I would recommend Santa Claus... It is another classic that tells the story of how Santa came to be and why he makes the trip once a year to give presents to good children. Next is The Little Drummer Boy. I admit that this one is my least favorite of the specials included, although others will likely beg to differ. It is still very good but in my opinion it isnt as much fun as the aforementioned specials. It tells the story better than I have ever heard it though, so I still recommed seeing it very much. Finally we are treated to Frosty and Frosty Returns, two more classic must-haves. I especially like the first Frosty the Snowman and it is always a lot of fun to watch. Of course it tells the story of how the children made Frosty come to life, ultimately dealing with the fact that Christmas is really more about the giving.

In conclusion, if you are a big fan of Christmas then I recommend owning this box set. The price and packaging are just right and the quality of the specials included are better than you will see on tv. You can try and catch them on tv the few times they are, or you can make a good investment that the whole family will enjoy. ... Read more
