5-0 out of 5 stars !!!!!!!!!!!!!The game for racing freakz!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Need for speed underground is a good racing game as well as a creative game because you can customize certain cars and you can unlock cars that already have been customized to be unlocked. I am a absolute complete racing freak and I looooooooooooove racing games but they have to look good and realistic for me to buy it or play it. I like racing movies aswell like the fast and the furious, 2 fast 2 furious and torque. The best racing games to get are need for speed games, gran turismo games, auto modellista, burnout 2 & 3 and juiced. my name is jordan josiah nicholson samuel,i'm 9 years of age but i look like i'm 12 years old,i live in london, herne hill with my mum simone and my 4-year old sister sapphire and i like rap music and mc's.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good on the PS2, but not great as the PC!
The story is engrossing, I have to admit that I really like this game. But there are a good amount of problems, A) Too few levels and the levels that exist are too short. B)Graphics are avg at best
and C)the jumping/falling off ledges so frequently gets tiring.

But the pro's do outweigh the cons.
    A) Great sound, B) A deep storyline, C) Cool guns, D) Some of the levels will really make you think.
The bottom line is that if you like this game, get the pc version! You can get 35 more levels on it!!

2-0 out of 5 stars A Complete Mess
What do you do in Max Payne 2? You walk from room to room shooting enemies in slow-motion dives. Oh yeah, and there's a competent story and some cool dream levels thrown into the mix. Now I'm all for mindless shooting (Especially when the enemy AI is as good as it is here) but a number of serious flaws suck the fun right out of this PC port.

    1. Load times- Around 45 seconds everytime you start a new level or die and have to respawn. And you will die often, so even though you can save at any time, it's annoying when you hit a difficult section of the game. Picture this: Die, wait 45 seconds to reload level, die within two seconds again, wait another 45 seconds, repeat ten times. Aggravating, to say the least.

    2. Save System- Completely f-ed up, it never, ever saves automatically, and saving manually is one of the most tedious processes I've ever encountered in a video game. Since you should save alot, this is not a good thing.

    3. Framerate- It's never smooth, even in a small room with no enemies, and during heated firefights it slows down to around 5 fps, absolutely no exaggeration there. In these moments you just move the analog stick and hold down the fire button, and the game's auto-aim feature that makes all your flying bullets somehow hit an enemy, no matter how off you are, does the rest.

    4. Graphics- This game looks like crap. Everything is too dark, textures are pixelated like mad, and it just isn't up to par with even first generation PS2 titles.

    5. Audio- Skips alot.

    6. Other problems- Game freezes for a few seconds whenever transitioning to a cutscene, switching weapons requires you to take your thumb off the analog stick, leaving you vulnerable if you run out of ammo in the midst of a shoot out and need to equip a different weapon.

Basically everything good about the PC version is either ruined or missing altogether in this barely playable port. This game is a trainwreck, stay away, it costs about the same as a roll of toilet paper for a reason. Best used as a coaster for your icy beverage. I give it a...

4-0 out of 5 stars A Few Problems, But Still Very Fun Sequel to a Great Game.
If you're a hardcore action fan like me, chances are you've probably heard of Max Payne. It combines elements of John Woo films and film noir graphic novels. Some people may not like the film noir style or graphic novel look, but I think it's very unique and stylish. Now the sequel, Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, improves on it in every aspect. I understand that of course the game is going to run and look better on Xbox and PC. It probably does, but that didn't stop me from buying it for PS2. The graphics are both good and bad. The environments are decent and the character models could be better save for Max Payne, Mona Sax, and Vladimir. Max no longer has that stupid sneer on his face. Voice acting is pretty good, but it tends to skip every now and then. Controls are pretty much the same as the first, except now you can pistolwhip or throw grenades with a weapon equppied. The Bullet-Time feature has been improved and the sequences when reloading in Bullet-Time are awesome, looking just like a top-notch action movie. Don't let the love story theme stop you from purchasing this. It's a very good story and some levels let play as not only Max Payne, but Mona Sax, but she basically plays the same as Max, which is or isn't a bad thing necessarily. Also, the dreaded nightmare sequences are on here, but they're not as hair-pulling as they were on the first. These are short and playable. My only complaints and why Max Payne 2 didn't score higher with me is that unfortunately, the Xbox and PC version are both graphically and technologically superior to the PS2 version. Also, it's a bit too short. But these problems don't hurt the game that terribly much as it's still very fun and just as good as the first if not better. I give a 4 out of 5. Semper Fi, Carry On. ... I love everything of this game. The graphics, the sound ( big time) but there is some flaws. When you doing the Grand Prix, what happen to retry's if your 4th to 8th? This makes the game almost impossible. But that's a good thing. We want the game to be more challenging (ulike to Mario Kart 64). In this game, you cna unolock characters, karts and even battle areans. Now I've spoken about that, there's 3 modes in battle

Ballon Battle: Same as oriinal Ballon mode in MK 64
Shine Thief: Touch/Run into a sun and don't get attacked for 1 minute (this match is pretty easy for people who have the sun)
Bomb Battle: Collect bombs and hit people 3 times in a row to win!

    Overall 4/5
This game is great except for a few important flaws.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Most Replayable Games of Recent Years
Mario Kart Double Dash!! is one of the most phenomenal video games ever made; a game that makes me fondly remember what video games used to be.
Firstly, for Mario Kart veterans (who I am sure have already picked this game up), this is the most unique game in the series. Two racers now occupy each car.The racer in front steers while the character in back handles weapons and attacks (you can punch nearby players now and steal their weapons). If you play single-player, you control both characters, stearing and firing weapons, while a single tap of the 'Z' button will switch character positions. This comes in handy, since each character can carry a weapon, while only the character in back can use them. So, if the driver has a banana or a shell you want to fire, and the character in back has nothing, tap 'Z' and switch positions in an instant, without slowing down your car at all.
Because of the two-character mechanic, there are now two types of weapon boxes that you drive through to recieve your weapon: single boxes give only the character in the back of the car a weapon - so if the charcater in back is already carrying one, switch the charcater's positions when you drive through a single weapon box so that both your racers will now carry a weapon.Double weapon boxes give each racer on the kart a weapon, (if one charcater is already carrying one, the other racer will recieve a weapon regardless). In single-player, if both characters have a weapon, and the one in back fires theirs, the characters automatically switch positions on the car, so the character with the remaining weapon is instantly ready to fire.
In multi-player, you have a few options. Each player can control their own car and both characters on it, or you can each pick one character to race on the same car.If you choose the latter, both players will have to push 'Z' simultaneosly to switch positions on the car.So, if one player prefers driving, and the other prefers handling the weapons, you can stay that way the entire race, since the characters will not automatically switch positions (instead, the player in front can tap the fire button to toss his weapon to the player in back when they are empty-handed).Multiplayer is incredibly addicting; especially (surprise) in battle mode, which makes a welcome return. For players used to ballon battle from Mario Kart 64, the levels in Double Dash will seem small at first (though you can unlock a few more, one of which is bigger), but give balloon battle a chance. It is incredibly addictive, and nothing is more satisfying than hitting your opponent with an expertly timed shot of a green shell from across a level.(There are also two new battle modes this time around, but I found balloon battle to be the most enjoyable.)
One thing that surprised me was the game's difficulty. The learning curve is perfect, with three difficulty levels as usual, 50cc, 100 cc and 150cc racing modes. But for a Nintendo game, 150cc proved fairly difficult, which was a welcome challenge.Computer opponents are smart on 150cc mode, but make similar mistakes to the ones you'll find yourself making. They win races not by cheating (like in other games), but by firing weapons at strategic moments in the race, or using power slides around turns (do it correctly and you'll get a mini speedy boost at the end of the power slide). So, regardless of how far ahead you may be on 150cc mode, one simple error can prove devestating. On the flip side, if you are behind, one great, well timed shot can be all you need to take the lead. The gameplay is expertly balanced, and there is even strategy involved now in selecting your team and your car, since different players and cars have varying weights and pros and cons.Plus, each character has a unique special weapon.
In addition, the course design, as usual in the Mario Kart series, is flawless.Every course is unique, and you'll develop strategies for approaching each one. Moreover, the graphics are sharp, bright and colorful. Each course and each character has their own personality.
The replay value is infinite. There are plenty of unlockables in single-player, inlcuding new characters, courses (racing and battle), cars, and game modes.Once everything is unlocked, multiplayer alone will keep you coming back for more, not to mention besting your best course times in time trial mode.
This game is a great reminder of what used to make games great - gameplay and replayability, not graphics, physics or online modes. This is a brilliantly crafted game, a game that will appeal to all ages, both genders, gamers and non-gamers alike.
    A true classic!

4-0 out of 5 stars Yet another good review
With all the other good reviews about this game who needs another. But I just felt like writing this one. First the game this off da chain but not that much better. First if you master Tony Hawk then the only thing to worry about this the racing which I consider a flaw. To think I do all the ramp stuff first and when a race comes up I think "Oh God no." Next is the longivity which is often a game's weakness. If the challege does not keep you playing the fun will. So what is the problem it enough levels especially for RPG fans who love long games. I would have given it 5 stars but for the would have to be perfect and it is not but it does come close.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME GAME
This is one of the greatest video games on the market today.SSX 3 will keep you entertained for hours and you will not be able to stop playing. One of the best things about this game is that it never gets old.You can play for a very, very long time and still not complete the whole game. There is so much fun jam-packed in this game that you may never complete it.SSX 3 is very challenging, but not too challenging that it is impossible to beat.

The conquer the mountain feature in this game is absolutely perfect. There is so much in it, and it has a great storyline. It can go on forever, and you will never tire of playing it. Trust me, if you enjoy competition and racing, this is the game for you.

The graphics in this game are also one of a kind. They look so realistic that if you weren't playing, you would really think a real snowboard competition is going on.It is great, and very refreshing to finally have a fantastic snowboarding game that is worth playing, and watching.

Another great feature is the tricks each player has the ability to do.Even though the multi-flips, grabs, and sideway spins may not exactly look completely real, they are so much fun to perform and watch. There are many tricks to do, and as you go on, you will always find more and more to come up with.

SSX 3 is without a doubt the best snowboarding game out there. At a price of 20 dollars, it is defintely worth the money and you will be glad you made the purchase.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good game
Ssx3 is an absolute must-have for any, maybe all, fans of sports games. Though the character selection is a lot smaller than the previous game, it doesn't let you down. It includes:

    Zoe
    Moby
    Psymon
Griff (new guy! he's a twelve-year-old. kinda interesting..)
    Viggo(new! another cool character)
    Elise
    Nate(another new guy! pretty cool..)
    Mac
Allegra(new! Even though her name resembles that of an allergy medication, she's great!)
    Kaori

The gameplay is set on a mountain with 3 peaks (peak 1 being the easiest and peak 3 the hardest). The single mode in which you earn money, buy stuff, and unlock peaks and places is "Conquer the Mountain" mode. The Single Event is the normal one-player mode, and the Multi-play mode is the two-player mode. In Conquer the Mountain, you can do the race, slopestyle, and freestyle modes.

The accessories for characters are amazing (ex: flaming head)! When you play this game, it can get you addicted but eventually bored, which is the only thing I have against it! ... Read more

this is one of the best shooters for ps2. socom 1 was a little better, but this is still fun. i dont have online play though so that takes some of the fun away but i still recomend this, and socom 1

4-0 out of 5 stars no title
so, i know everybodys dying to hear the story...ah, who am i kidding?...nobody plays this for the story...they play it to be a navy seal..i dont even remember the storyline...the gameplay: now thats where its at...thats where this game holds its ground..i never remember the storys of these games with terrorits and such..unless is mgs..instead what sticks in my mind is the gameplay...lets recall wat i remember...stalking a gaurd for 5 minutes, gets my rifle sights on him, then BOOM....HE SEES ME!! and ahhh im dead...thats the worst thing of these games..is when i mess up i dont feel like going back to play it again...five minutes stalking a gaurd only to have him kill me, really makes me feel like "aw just screw it"...which is why i never finished this game...but its not the games fault.. it comes with the genre...and if u like the genre u cant go wrong with this game

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Much Well Wroth The Wait
I own the original Socom And that was a great game but I never did beat it. I am only on the 4th mission and I have owned it fro quite some time. Anyhow I just got Socom 2 today in Circuit City for only 10.00. Great deal huh. My mom bought it for me which was real nice. The game has been at 20.00 fro a long time but I wanted to see if I could get it at a lower price. Thats why I had not bought it but planed to buy it in the furture.

    The Review:
I find That Socom 2 is better that the first installment. Socom 2 has great contorls. Great Graphics. very nice animations. fast loading tome. Nice guns.. And I think it was well worth the wait. See when you don't rush something out how it comes out very well. They are making a third installment I want to get that one also. Thanks. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Inherent mediocrity
A loyal and content follower of the Medal of Honor series since its inception on PS1 many years ago, I nonetheless approached this title with a considerable degree of trepidation.I'd never been disappointed with any Medal of Honor title I'd laid hands on.Yet many reports of this game were lukewarm or downright negative, and I expected to find that the MoH developers had finally made a critical misstep. To a certain degree, as it turned out, that was eventually revealed to be just the case.I didn't buy this game when it was first released-was indeed planning on just bypassing this installment of the series altogether-but when I later saw new copies of the PlayStation 2 version of it for sale on the cheap, I gave in to the beckoning voice of nostalgia and series loyalty and snapped one up.

First things first.Controlling console first-person shooters with a gamepad-a realm long surrendered to PC titles, and for good reason-is an acquired taste, yet one that has definite benefits even surpassing those of a mouse and keyboard in certain aspects once a player becomes accustomed to the scheme and limitations. As I see it, the key is in relying on strafing with the left analog stick during active combat, using that technique to adjust aiming weapons rather than the right analog stick, which almost always tends to be too sensitive to aim where you want when the adrenaline's flowing. An area where a gamepad excels over computer controls in FPS games is the analog nature of the beast, being able to pan the camera view around at a slow, cinematic movie-like pace or at any variable speed you wish, as well as being able to move your character at any number of speeds-not just "walk" or "run."Another noteworthy feature that console pads have is the force feedback effect, which has evolved far beyond the mere novelty it once was and has become an integral part of the gaming experience.Having said all that, the analog control mechanics of Medal of Honor: Rising Sun are on par with other FPS console titles and take no getting used to if you're familiar with the genre. The rumble feature works to excellent effect, thumping with explosions, shaking with gunfire and thudding like a heartbeat when your character's health gets low.The button layout-customizable only from a limited array of predetermined options-is another story, and it took me a while to become comfortable and natural with it.

A staple of the MoH series is the actual black & white World War II footage used to augment game missions, employed before or after each long mission, and that tradition is carried on here.Unlike all previous MoH titles, however, this game involves no combat with the German arm of the Axis, focusing instead on the wars in the Pacific and combat with the Japanese.Indeed, the initial mission has you waking up on board a US battleship under fire at Pearl Harbor, rescuing fellow naval personnel, manning a gun emplacement on the deck and, later on, on a small gunboat blasting frantically at the Japanese war planes peppering the smoky, crimson sky.The PS2 graphics are well-implemented and are up to the task in this instance. It's an action-filled, pulse-pounding, impressive beginning for the game, yet is over all-too-soon.After a promising beginning, however, cracks and flaws in design and execution begin to surface.Multiple missions have you creeping through dense tropical island foliage, yet the graphics engine seems to be unable to properly render natural, organic environments; instead of actual trees, shrubs and wildlife, you're given solid green walls on either side of a given path with just the images of trees and shrubs painted on them. And while there is the occasional mid-mission option of choosing one path or another to arrive at given objective, the green walls are always there, funneling you through a narrow path with no choice but to follow it.It might as well be a corridor shooter in these cases. And while some of the foliage is decently drawn, other parts of it are so pixilated that they look like something from the Atari 2600 era.The original Tomb Raider game from 1996 on the Sega Saturn rendered outdoor foliage as good as this game does. It's difficult to overlook such glaring deficiencies after spending so much time with, for example, the highly-detailed, photo-realistic, free-roaming gaming world of Far Cry.Yet this is the aging PlayStation 2 and I realize that a developer can only do so much with the available horsepower.

Another acute failing in Rising Sun is enemy AI.So many other games have advanced what is expected of the artificial intelligence programming, and this game is definite window into the past in that regard. You shuffle helplessly down confined corridors whilst the opposing forces magically pop out at you from predetermined spawn points. They stand dumbly in front of you as you pummel them with lead.Sometimes they will run, take evasive action and find cover behind some object.Yet even at these times you can shoot an extended elbow or knee or head that's jutting up from behind said cover and the enemy soldier will just stand there and take it, not reacting to being shot until he falls over dead.Japanese soldiers never seem to act in tandem, never seem to formulate any tactic to outflank or work together to bring you down; they just stand or kneel and shoot until either you and they run out of health. It's like a shooting gallery, and I found myself becoming lazy later on in the game, usually not even bothering to duck or use cover in conflicts, just standing there myself and spraying short bursts of bullets around.During the entire course of the game, the only time my health really became threatened was when a large gang of machine gunners would surprise or overwhelm me, or on the few eyebrow-raising occasions when a crazed, sword-wielding samurai soldier would charge and begin hacking at me before I could plant a bullet in his brain.Magical, inexplicable respawning also occurs, much to my everlasting chagrin.Clear an area, nab an objective, retrace you steps and find the area suddenly semi-repopulated with opposition. And let's not even get started on the stationary machine gun emplacements.Sure, it's been done in the previous MoH games too, but it's sure getting to be old hat by now: any time you take control of a stationary machine gun, wave after wave after wave of soldiers will spring into existence all in front of you for your mowing-down pleasure. The funny part is, these swarming enemy masses present almost no threat at all to you behind all the firepower your wielding.Just fire back and forth, like putting out a fire with a fire extinguisher.Funnier still is that these forces don't even begin to exist in the game unless you man the stationary guns, so can avoid these little shootouts if you wish by just not walking up to any of the emplacements.

But all is not lost in the world of Rising Sun.For all the game engine failings during the aforementioned levels, the graphics are still impressive in the more traditional MoH settings. My favorite level of the game begins at night in Singapore, a stealthy infiltration on the docks. You're crouched in shadows, the old boards of the dock creaking underfoot as soft waves lap the posts and hulls of moored ships.Light fog rolls across the docks, casting and eerie, phosphorescent glow.Up on the mainland, glowing businesses and buildings of the town proper are visible: ghostly eyes shrouded in mist.Half-seen enemy guards lounge and patrol in lazy patterns.Equipped with a one-shot-one-kill stealth weapon, the player creeps along and either sneaks by them or takes them silently out, one by one: a muffled whoosh, a projectile contacting target, the sighing grunt as he falls and the fog-muted splash as he plummets to the murky depths. It's a great beginning, and the level progresses from there into the city proper with some open street-to-street combat and hostage rescuing. There's also a nicely done level that places you and a squad of friendly AI troops on board a small boat chugging slowly up a narrow waterway.Under shadowy night skies, under the impassive eyes of the moon and stars, under the overhanging, somehow menacing branches of trees and darkly emerald topography, the soldiers whisper back and forth.Did you see something?Did you hear something?Be ready, men.We scan the shorelines, left and right, left and right again, but see nothing.Time passes. The slight murmur of the outboard motor. The conversations of insects. The wind rustling through the leaves.Tension builds. What was that?Suddenly, gunfire erupts from the canopy of night: red on green and black, the ambush is on. Once again, a terrific, cinematic moment.I also liked most of the Bridge on the River Kwai level. From a distance, the far off outdoor vistas are compelling and epic, and working your way along high above the rushing waters of the river had a certain dramatic, cinematic flair to it.At one point in this level, you descend onto a line of railroad tracks, and I heard the oddest trumpeting, grunting noises coming from behind me.I turn around and, wonder of wonders, there's family of elephants mulling about on the tracks. It was such a cool, out-of-place, surreal moment. And another example of the uneven nature of the MoH graphic engine: amidst the backdrop of some questionable outdoor environmental visual rendering, these animated elephants were nearly photo-realistic.Later on, there's a fun little section of the game where you actually get to ride atop a big ol' elephant as he crashes madly through the woods, you all the while scorching the trees and surrounding rock formations with gunfire in an attempt to take down the bad guys before they can hurt you...or your friend, the elephant.

Yet most of the game falls in the range of average to slightly below average, and certainly a been-there-done-that feeling surfaces all too often. The single-player portion of the game is notably short, probably only 6 or 7 hours long. They attempt to make up for this by offering the enticement to replay the game several times to get better "scores" and thusly earn medals for particular performance grades, but I personally didn't see much use in that. There's also a split-screen, cooperative, off-line multiplayer option that affords you the ability to wade through all the single-player missions with someone else, which is a nice inclusion, as well as PS2 online support (which I don't subscribe to). There are a couple of classy extras thrown into the mix as well: interview clips of actual WWII soldiers discussing their parts in the conflicts represented in Rising Sun, and an interesting section called Letters from Home, which features the reading of actual letters written by WWII servicemen.Still, a few memorable gameplay moments and a unique platter of extra features aren't nearly enough to save this game from its .

5-0 out of 5 stars LOOK AT THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i thought this game was pretty cool withall the japanese soldiers and pearl harbor and everything. other people say it's boring and the AI is bad, but i like mindlessly killing japs!!!!have played frontline and it is really col too, but i can't pick which one i likebetter. anyway, blowing upstuff is lots of funso ha!!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars This is the end result of a rushed game
The Medal of Honor series is famous for releasing great historic war games. With the instant success of MoH: Frontline, it left people wanting more, and EA wanting more money. MoH: Rising Sun is about as unfinished of a game as you can get. The sad part is the graphics in MoH: Frontline look better than MoH: Rising Sun, and Rising Sun was released a year or so after Frontline. Not only that, but Rising Sun is extremely short and you should be able to complete the game in 6 hours tops. One thing I did like about this game is that it at least has multiplayer offline and online, but even those features can't save the game. The computer generated cut-scenes in the game that set up the next level you will play are horrendous. I've seen better on PS1. The games AI switches from being terrible to being downright dumb. You will be in situations where your standing right in front of the enemy and they won't even shoot you. You will be in situations where the enemy will fire the opposite direction of where you are. There are some minor technical glitches such as bodies floating in the air and some collision issues. Some areas of the game you could be hiding behind a wall or rock and the enemy can shoot right through what your hiding behind. Another collision issue is that you are able to walk through certain things you shouldn't be able through. Some examples being benches, chairs, some areas of the ships. This game also has a hefty framerate problem. The first mission and last mission have terrible framerate. The rest of the game stays at a decent pace for the most part, but chugs and chugs here and there.

I appreciate how they have all the different videos that you can watch after you beat the game. I think that's important on a game like this. It shows movies of veterans speaking about their effort in the war and other historic videos.

All in all even WW2 and MoH fans will have a hard time liking this game. I'm a fan of historic war games and I can admit this game was simply rushed. I recommend getting Call of Duty: Finest Hour. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars multiplayeraspect online
I have only watch my friend play the story mode, but i have played this game online for non-stop hours. Let me say i love the online play. All though there are only 3 modes deathmatch, team deathmatch, and powerup mode, the game is so fun you just really dont care. Plus you can join in whenever, butwhen i mean by that is if theres a game going on you dont have to wait intell there done to join, you can just join in whenever. My only complain is theres no chat rooms, buddy list or usbheadset.
Theres tons of fun levels to play so your never bored. I hope my review helped you on the online aspect of this game. I really hope ubisoft makes a sequel to this awesome game and adds the chat room etc.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad game design and even worse acting and story.
Just why video-game designers love amnesiac main characters, I have no idea.Maybe they can never dream up more creative ways of generating suspense and mystery other than the ol' "Who am I?"XIII's main character is so devoid of colour, so boringly voiced and humourless, that even if the game itself were fun, the very fact that you have to play as an utter nerd for a main character just cripples the experience.

But this game isn't fun, either.Half of this game is an example of just how horribly wrong a stealth game can be when the elements aren't right.

As a shooter this game fares somewhat better, but not much more.Enemies strafe even faster than you and reloading takes forever, and their shots are so accurate that taking cover doesn't really help. This game is also extremely stingy about giving you ammo (an average enemy drops maybe two shotgun shells and 10-20 bullets).Frustrating, but at least there's action. The stealth part, on the other hand, is plain garbage for a couple of reasons:

    - Who came up with the idea of helmets?I can't remember another single stealth game where a headshot doesn't kill an enemy. In fact, the very concept of stealth games is impossible without headshot kills -- unless you have alternate methods of distracting or killing the enemy (Metal Gear Solid's choke/neck-break and noise distractions, for example).
    - I don't know where main character "Number XIII" learned how to shoot, because even un-helmeted enemies seldom die with a headshot.I've tested this by activating an invincibility cheat code, walking straight up to an enemy, and blasting him in the face.Nope, still alive and kicking.
    - No radar. The "sixth sense" in this game which is supposed to replace this basic function is useless, because it tells you where enemies are by means of the "tap, tap" of approaching footsteps.Which means you won't be able to spot an enemy who's a foot to your right, just offscreen.
    - When special events occur, they use a "window-in-window" technique which is interesting visually (a comic-book device), but unhelpful to the player. You don't know where these events take place in relation to your current location. And sometimes, you hear an important conversation that's somewhere in your vicinity, but the game doesn't tell you where it's coming from.

Give me No One Lives Forever anyday, if first-person stealth/action shooters are your thing.Cate Archer can kick "Number XIII"'s butt any day, and say more interesting things along the way.I bought XIII from the bargain bin and wish I'd gotten myself a nice dinner instead.Worth maybe five dollars, no more, and even then, I'd sell it the minute I finish it.

5-0 out of 5 stars your number is up
This is the best first person shooter i've played in a while and i don't play many first person shooters. The voice acting is incredible! It has David Duchovny and Adam West in it. All of the special gadgets and weapons are amazing. I personally don't like like many stealth games but this made me like them more. And its such a good price for the great quality of the game. I recommend this to anyone who likes action games or comics. ... Read more

    3-0 out of 5 stars 2D gaming - great!
I'm glad to see that a "2dish" game is around for us that miss the 16-bit days when "Final Fight" and "Streets of Rage" ruled consoles. I bought this game for $20 (not worth more) and played it enough but simply stopped after a while. It's not that the game is difficult, it just doesn't "keep" grabbing my interest. I'm sure I'll play the game again but if I had to compare its replayability against a game such as the Wind Waker, Viewtiful Joe would lose. If I had to compare it to Luigi's Mansion, Viewtiful Joe would win.

5-0 out of 5 stars Viewtiful.
Viewtiful Joe is a fresh experience that gives a major overhaul on the 2d side-scrolling fighting/platformer genre - one that many gamers have craved for since the bombardment of generic titles with bucket-loads of blood and neon-underlights.

The game runs a movie motif, and this theme is carried out consistently throughout the game. It's also the backbone of Joe's 3 VFX abilities (slow, mach speed, zoom) which are used throughout the game for puzzles, platforming and fighting. Amazingly none of these areas feel half-baked; Capcom have worked hard to provide a cool experience in all genres. While the fighting scenes seem extremely stylish and complex, it is actually simple to pull off; a testament of VJ's tight, intuitive and responsive controls.

VJ features an excellent graphical style reminiscent of a full-motion comic, catchy music and most importantly - rewarding game play concepts that encourages the player to be creative.

Viewtiful Joe is a must-have for your cube collection. Henshin-a-go-go!

4-0 out of 5 stars WARNING- beautiful game, but hard
It is a wonderfully visual game, with a knock-out setup and great (when you can hear it) dialogue. But all the reviewers who claim the game is low frustration and easy... wrong! I adore this game, but I have never sworn at or threatened a game so much as this one. I was stuck on one fight for a month. I wish I was kidding. The big fights rely on timing and damn good luck, because sometimes you can make it the first time, and sometimes your sidekick dies fast and you will repeat the same fight infinitely. Too bad you can't skip ahead. Puzzles take time, but I only needed help with one. Seriously, the only flaw with this game is the fights.

3-0 out of 5 stars its pretty
its pretty..u can walk on walls...thats about it...but why...why.....its a game made by the french set in persia with british voice actors..in america....okkkeday.....

and the gameplay is boring...ill go on record saying jumping on poles is not entertaing...the fighting is ok, and it was a good choice of not making it a button masher...u hold the block button for awhile and walk around till u find a opening, then u attack...its good fighting..and its good theres not too much of it cuz thatd get really annoying if it was one of those "kill baddies in one room, go next room, repeat" type of game with that fighting style

3-0 out of 5 stars Simply Average
I read the overwhelming amount of glowing reviews for this game, both by Amazon members, and professional reviewers, so I thought that it would be a safe buy, a guaranteed great time. While I wasn't totally disappointed, the game failed very much to live up to the hype.

First off, the good points: the graphics are smooth and well done. The environments are detailed, and often very beautiful. The character of the Prince is a great protagonist, fun, thoughtful, and his narration of the game was a great inclusion that kept you connected to him. The ability to manipulate time via the dagger is a unique and useful ability that I enjoyed using.

Now, for what I consider the less-than-good points: While the Prince's acrobatic moves are impressive to see, and useful, you never have the ablity to learn any new ones; this creates a certain repetitiveness throughout the game's puzzles. The sound quality was horrid, and even after adjusting volume levels in the options menu, Farah and the Prince's voices were nearly impossible to hear half the time. There isn't much strategy involved in the battle scenes. As long as you guard one moment, and mash the square button the next, you're pretty much assured a victory. The camera angles were positively atrocious about 70% of the time, which made already difficult puzzles highly frustrating. The end battle was disappointingly easy, and there is virtually no replay value. No secrets to be unlocked, new skills or movies to enjoy. The only special feature besides being able to watch the credits scroll is unlocking the original Prince of Persia, a horrid game that would have best been left buried in a landfill somewhere.

Overall, the game was enjoyable enough, but, having defeated it in 10 hours, and there being no real replay value, I feel as if I wasted my money. I would definitely recommend this as a rental; it could easily be finished over the course of a weekend. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Too many half naked chicks.
The only downside to this game is the chicks. Mostly all of them are half naked and disguisting, every movement you can see up their skirts and its gross.

But ignore that and you have the boys. The most gorgeous bishonen they have is Nightmare, one of his nipples is even an eye and with long blond hair is the ultimate fighter of the gae carrying around a giant sword (and I mean a weapon lol).

Their are extras which makes the game even more fun, a map to take your character through the world of Soul Calibur and opening new costumes (mostly only for the girls though grr..) and information, as well as new weapons and other things.

I bought the Gamecube version to use Link from the original Nintendo 64. But Soul Calibur 3 will only be on PS3 only.

    Editorial Review

The Legend of Zelda series practically defined adventure gaming for an entire generation. Link, the hero of the adventure games, delighted millions by starring in games for each Nintendo console from the NES and Super NES to the Nintendo 64. Link brings this beloved franchise to the Nintendo GameCube in The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and he's more animated than ever.

The first thing you'll notice about The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker is that it looks completely different from any previous title in the franchise. Nintendo has opted to use cel-shading technology on Wind Waker; the result is that the game looks like a cartoon. Die-hard Zelda purists initially howled at this change, arguing that the game skews too young. I think it's fantastic. The cartoon animation style allows for better expression of the characters, and several of the animations--like Link trying to pick up an object that's too heavy--are so cute that you can't help but laugh a little.

The second thing you’ll notice is a focus on wind. Instead of trotting around on foot, Link travels from island to island on a talking boat, but he doesn't get far without the wind blowing in right direction. Luckily, you'll learn how to change the direction of the wind early in the game, and you'll do so frequently--not only to power your boat but also to solve puzzles. Clever use of wind makes Wind Waker stand out from more conventional adventure games.

The third thing you’ll notice is that the game is just plain fun. Puzzles are innovative and refreshing, and despite some tricky puzzles, I never felt too frustrated to keep playing. The locales you'll visit are invariably exotic and fun to explore, and the host of bizarre creatures you'll encounter (friendly and otherwise) are always a kick in the pants. Moreover, though the look is radically different, Wind Waker feels like a classic Zelda game. Veterans of the early games in the franchise will experience more than a bit of nostalgia while playing it.

The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker is everything you've come to expect from a Zelda game, and it's one of the best adventure games to date. This is a must-have title for any GameCube owner. --Jon "Safety Monkey" Grover

    Pros:

    • New cel-shaded animation looks great
    • Puzzles and characters are a lot of fun
    • There's a special place in the heart of any gamer who's ever owned a Nintendo console, and that place is shaped like a Triforce

    Cons:

    • Some Zelda purists may be turned off by the cartoon look

1-0 out of 5 stars The End of My Zelda Relationship
I know this game has been out forever, and there are hundreds of other reviews on amazon.com about it. But, sometimes it's therapeutic to write, and so I shall write about why this game signaled the end of my relationship with the Zelda franchise, which began so many years ago with that black turtle-necked guy in a pants-wetting panic about tektikes and peahats.

Before you get to my review, let me sum it up for the ADD-cub: I didn't like this game. Don't get it. Zelda the Wind-Waker bad.

Quite a bit of attention from reviewers and critics was paid to the game's look. "Is it too cartoony?" "Is this a revolution in gaming graphics?" "Have I chosen a bad career as an adult that reviews games designed for children?" The answer to these apt questions is no, no, and yes. Zelda looks amazing - everything is fluid (which is fortunate, because it seemed I was forever on a boat in the middle of nowhere) and lit nicely and blah blah blahdity blah. You either love it or hate it, and I liked it.

So fault with the game is not how it looks, but rather everything else about it. Perhaps my concept of RPGs has been spoiled by Morrowind - once you've seen the merits of full customization, endless and often pointless side-quests, and, well, freedom for crying-out-loud, Zelda's tired "go to this island and do this and then go to this island and do that!" formula started driving me batty from the get-go. Further compounding the lacking game-play department, Link doesn't 'level up,' he just gets more and more hearts and cool stuff as you progress through each puzzle-puzzle-puzzle-action!-puzzle-puzzle-puzzle type-situation. But again, the Morrowind came blowing in, and boomerangs pale in comparison to a sword you enchanted that can do all kinds of wicked things to your foes.

THE FOLLOWING IS AN INTERPRETATION OF WHAT LINK MIGHT BE THINKING WHEN HE GETS THE GRAPPLING HOOK:
"Oooh, a grappling hook! Why, I think I'll need to use this to grapple certain objects! Wheeeeeeee! I'm Link, and I'm going to save the Princess! Or my sister! Or whatever the heck is going on in what passes for a plot! Have you met my talking boat? He looks like a dragon, and his breath smells like fish!"

The most annoying thing about this game is the sound. The music is okay, if you're into dreamy Japanese MIDI-orchestral-pop, and the sound effects are pretty much what one might expect. But its the vocal acting which fails to impress...possibly because there is no vocal acting. That's right, in an era where some games seem to exist just for voice actors to get work (Metal Gear Solid, I'm looking at you), Nintendo said (or didn't say?) "Translating Japanese into English super number one fun problem! Mind your thinking in the correct zone! Panic means progress, crossing the river badly! Collect them all!" So, every time Link interacts with something, you hear things like, "Boop!" or "Huh?" or possibly "Hee Hee!" The end result is lame beyond the call of lame and made me tired and sad, longing softly for the return of the little bearded man in the cave who dispenses pithy wisdom.

For Zelda purists, there are still plenty of rubies to collect. Ah, sweet, sweet rubies. Collect them all! And don't forget the timeless "you start with crappy sword - then you get better sword halfway through the game" philosophy. Timeless. Classic. Completely irritating.

The final insult of this mess of a game is the setting itself. Ask yourself: do you like the ocean? If the answer is yes, buy this game immediately. You will be treated to "Ocean Simulator Zelda: The Wind Waker," a simulator which treats you to long periods at sea, fishing, and realistic storms. Sometimes there will be islands, but you can easily avoid those. Watch out for squid and make sure to bring plenty of sunblock!

When Zelda shows up next, sporting fancy new "realistic" graphics and carrying a ridiculous new name like "The Legend of Zelda and the Flippitee Zoowakkabah Trumpet", I will pass. Zelda is dead to me now - dead. Like Ganon never manages to be.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST ZELDA GAME YET!!!
oh first of all im not under 13.Anyway Link is back for another adventure...this one is the best adventure yet.The cell shaded graphics are awesome, some say they they suck, but i think they are pretty cool. The gameplay is really fun you can do all sorts of stuff...but the bad thing is when you get your little boat that talks(i forgot the name)it just takes forever to go around the great sea on it.The audio is similar to the old zelda games some is new though. Now the game starts off when its links 12th birthday his sister wakes him up when he is asleep on the villages tower thingy, she tells him to go talk to his grandma and she gives him his green tunic. After that you will see find your sister she gives you a present...i dont want to tell what...but anyway i dont want to tell anymore secrets. You will have to find them out yourself.i reccomend this game to people who enjoyed any Zelda game before....or if you hated them, give this one a shot.Or if you havent even played one this one will make you want to keep playing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hours and hours of fun!
Firstly let me state that I have never before played another Zelda game. I just never got into them; I was a Mario girl.

That said, ZELDA AND THE WIND WAKER is phenomenal. My younger sister got it as a present and she let me play when she wasn't playing it. As soon as I got up and left for college I needed my own.

Link is adorable. His facial expressions are entertaining. All the characters are great; there's such a variety that you'll just keep on Ooohing and Aaahing at the screen, impressed at the creativity.

The fighting/action is difficult but not too much so. I've played games before that I would get so mad at that I would have to leave and come back to them... much, much later. Zelda provided no such frustration, but as I said before, it wasn't so easy that I zipped straight through it and was not challenged.

The storyline is interesting. The sailing, contrary to what some other people may have said, is not tedious. In fact, I did quite a bit of exploring just for fun while I was on my way to other places.

My sister and I spent hours and hours playing this game. In fact, I would even pick it up and play it all over again from the beginning if I had the time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wacko Ninja Goodness!!
This is a really great game.. The levels are fun but not too hard until you get to the last 2/3s of the game... It does get little painful have to go through most levels three times but over all it is way challenging. One of the best games I bought got the Cube and really the only game I am determined to finish!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sounds fun
With all these reviews I've decided to buy this game. I have played a little bit of the tutorial and it left my jaw in the ground. The graphics are great. What I like is that you can explore a whole level. You don't just go to parts of the level you have to go like sonic adventure 2 battle. You can do much more things than in other games like in spiderman 2. I hope it is as great as they say because I thought animal crossing was going to be great but was annoying after a while. The screenshots of this game seem like they are works of art with all that action. This game reminds me of spiderman 2, glover, and mario. if like good butt kicking games you'll like this one because it has both action and adventure. And if you're in a bad mood you can just laugh at the size of the ninja. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. You can earn belts and sword upgrades to kick some butt.

5-0 out of 5 stars there is great and then there's..................GREAT!!!
this game is the best game i got so far. it put your brain to the test and your video skills. All you really do is kill people which make the game good. and you won't bet it in a day !!

the other good thing is the graphics are one of the better ones in all the games and you don't have to keep changing the view threw out the whole game. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is great!
This game is much better than the first Ratchet and Clank. I think you should buy this game. The story line is great, and watch the videos most of them are funny. This is one of the best games I have. The graphics are great. Also, it has cool weapons and armor. If you beat the game you unlock first person mode, shortcuts, The random stuff menu, and more movies.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun yet challenging
Unlike many game sequels, this one has improved. The only thing that really hasn't changed are the graphics. In this edition, you get a ton of new weapons and you can upgrade them at certain vendors. You even get to upgrade your ship by adding on shields, guns and other mods. What makes this game fun is that there are several mini games within the main game.
The one thing I don't like about this game is that you can't move forward onto different planets unless you complete all tasks on previous planets. For example, you must win a Hoverboard race before you're given a map for the next planet.I think this will be frustrating to many gamers and may cause some to pass on the game entirely. It was frustrating to me because this wasn't a requirement in the previous game.
Overall, I'd recommend picking up this game. It's a fun, relaxed game that you don't need to take seriously.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Game I Have for PS2
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando is a great game. The guns are really cool, and they get cooler as you upgrade them. It has alot of RPG in it as you can choose which mission to complete first or which planet to visit first, ect. There are some puzzles through out the game but most all of them are easy, as it is not the type of game where you get stuck on one puzzle for days. It has a ton of action, and the controls are very good. The only part I can complain about is how on some planets the enemies are not diverse at all and some saving problems I experienced. Other than that, it is a great game. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes action games. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Thought you knew Jak?
The first game of the now legendary trilogy, Jak and Daxter, was a light-hearted action/platformer/RPGish experience that broke new ground in that it showed just how beautiful, seemless, smooth, and enjoyable a game could be that combined perfect 3D platforming, traditional item questing (power cells anyone?), and fun mini-games. When a sequel was announced, and later released, doubtless many expected more of the same.

I remember the first time I fired this game up, and watched as Jak and Daxter were transported through a dimentional portal into a strange world. And then Jak was hit over the head with a gun by a soldier, imprisoned, and TORTURED with dark Eco. As Daxter tried to rouse his old buddy, he begged him to say something, and Jak finall did. His first words in the game series ever in fact. They were "I'm going to kill Baron Praxis!!!!!" Whoa.

So gone is the sweet and innocent utopia of the first game, replaced with a distopian nightmare futuristic city ruled by an evil warlord as he wages war with the new arch-enemies of evil "the metalheads". Some people will find the change shocking. Personally I think this game is awesome!

First of all, the free-roaming nature of the first game is kept in all it's glory, and there are NO loading times as you travel along. The sameattention to detail in the animation and graphics is evident from the get-go, as well as a great musical score, tight controls, and so much more gameplay that it boggles the mind. You can now transform into "Dark Jak" with new powers to use. You can use guns, and they are upgradable. You will get a hoverboard (how cool is THAT?) with which to cruise around town. You can jump into other people's vehicles and battle against the cops (or run from them if you're smart). While this game is by no means an M-rated violence-fest, it certainly captures that anti-hero-on-the-run feeling that makes futuristic sci-fi movies a blast. I couldn't help but think of Blade Runner, The Fifth Element, and other classics of the genre as I wandered around the town completing missions (anybody else find the floating fat weapon-loving slimeball reminded them of Baron Harkonen from Dune?).

Really the biggest change in this game from the first one is that while the platforming elements are still there, every segment is now a mini-game/mission of its own, and there are very few segments where you really just go from A to B to accomplish your objective. This keeps you guessing as to what will come next, and gives the game a fresh, addictive style. Of course your mileage will vary depending on how much you like particular mini-games. And speaking of varying mileage...

If this game has one FATAL flaw it has to be the rediculous level of difficulty found in some levels. A game like this really should make it easy the first time through and then give you the option of a higher difficulty setting upon completion. Even with infinite lives, without help I never would have beat this game, and that would have quite a pity.

This game has some truly great moments, and a story that just sucks you in further and further the more you play. The whole plotline of a savior who will deliver the inhabitants of the city, time travel, the war of the metal-heads, and the wonderful love triangle is just great stuff. And I'll never forget the opening of the Temple of Doom style level that's filled with spike pits giant bugs and flaming devices of various sorts. When Jak lept through the closing doors and I got a look at the level I was both awed and terrified at the same time. Kind of like when the final boss was revealed and the whole time-travel thing was finally sorted out.

In short, this is one of the great action/platformers of all-time. If you played the first game you should definitely play the second one. True, it is more like a PG-13 as opposed to the G of the first game, but sci-fi fans are bound to have a blast with its story, and true gamers will love the gameplay. Just keep a friend on hand to help out with the tricky sections.

1-0 out of 5 stars What is this crap? Grand Theft Auto??
I got this for my cousin who was obbessed with the 1st 1. He loved the 1st one!But the 2nd one was horrible and DARK!Now all he does is go around and sqeal everytime he sees my boyfriend, Jack.He thinks he's Jak from Jak II because he has a goatee and his name is Jack. By the way this gets worse, my name is Ashlin. Poor ,little fellow. I will neverever buy this game again! You should put a warning label saying kids will run around in fear after playing this game. This is the scary part our family has a pet ferret! creepy huh?

5-0 out of 5 stars Forget the first one and...
...get this one. This game rocks. The Precursor Legasy would score an generous 0.5 from me while THIS ONE gets 10! Jak packs his bags and says goodbye to the boredom of Sandover Village and enters the glamourus Haven City. Tons of locations and about 5 bosses. The first one had... 3. So what? This one might be an continuation from J&D:The Precursor Legasy but like... So what? The first one sucked. And for your reading pleasure, I am going to SPOIL THE END FOR YOU! MWUHUHUHHAHAHA!!!

    -WARNING: SPOILER ALERT!!!-
At the beginning of JakII: Renegade, you meet an old man namer... err... Kor. Remember that creature from the RiftGate? That was KOR! Kor is also the final boss in the game and he is the leader of the Metal Heads that Baron Praxis talks to before you confront him for the first time.
    -SPOILER ENDED-

Here is a rundown on this games features:

    Pros.
    Ace weaponry.
Play as both Jak and Daxter.
    Really good graphics.
    Great music.
    Cool SFX.
    Terrific voice acting.
    Jak SPEAKS!
Unlike the first one, there is HUMOR. Haw haw...
Lots of colorful characters you will meet.
    About 5 bosses.
    Tons of new locaitions.
Most of the missions are FUN!
    GTA-ish missions.
    No fishing level. YAY!

    Cons:
    Sometimes too hard.
You can only play as Daxter on 1 level.
    Repeative enemies.
Only 4 guns. (Why, Naughty Dog? WHY?)

Here is a rundown on some of my favourite levels:
    Haven City
    Pumping Station
    Dead Town
    Strip Mine
    Haven Stadium

Here are a couple of secrets:
Look for Precursor Orbs. They are now rare artifacs and you get CHEATS *cash register sound* for 'em.
Look for a Ratchet & Clank2: Going Commando poster somewhere. Looks like Naugthy Dog repaid Insomniac Games the favour of splashing an JakII poster on Megapolis and Damosel in Ratchet2.

    Graphics: 10
    Sound: 9.5
    Gameplay: 8.6
    Replay Value: 9.5
    Overall: 9.9

This is as good as golf except perhaps you don't get the exercise. It's so addictive that I found I was doing this every night for hours and hours, till I had no option but to return it I mean it was affecting my work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best game ever!
This game is a lot of fun to play, but it does take a little time to figure out the maneuvers. There are scenarios to practice skills to make your player very skilled. Also you can make your character look pretty close to your own image. It is challenging and very addictive. Fun for both males and females.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tiger Woods 2004

This is a message to all golfers. Tiger Woods 2004
Is the best Tiger Woods game since.... well...2003.This
game has a wide variety of golfers, courses, games, and
has awesome graphics. You can even create a character
that is just like you, or not.

Like I said, this game has awesome graphics. It seems
as if you watching golf instead of watching it. Everything
looks real, squirrels and birds look real. Most importantly
you can play as your favorite golfer, such as Tiger Woods.

It only takes about 10 seconds to load. Other games take
    About 20 or 30 seconds.

The commentators say humorous stuff . They make fun
About you missing the shot. Most other sports games don't
    Have commentators.

The ball drives even further than before. There is a lot of
    windcarries the ball even farther.

I would recommend this game to kids 8 and older, because
    Of controls.

If you want to create your own guy and win championships,
You need to get this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Didn't like it at first
I actually hated this game when I first bought it due to the revised game play. I absolutely HATED...I repeat HATED the hop step, and having a seperate shot and dunk/layup button. Months later near the release of Live 05, I started playing Live 04 and became accustomed to the style of play. Now I couldn't imagine it any other way. The game is dope, and the audio appeal aint bad either. Really looking forward to playing Live 05 and mastering it. I run through cats in this game yo. Hope this was helpful...peace

5-0 out of 5 stars If games were given MVPs, this game would get it!:)
No rule about it. This game is fantastic. Now with the pro-hop button, driving to the hoop is simple. and the blocks are superb. The new and imroved dynasty mode is awesome. Even though the players dont look so realistic, it still deserves a 5-star. I hope Nba Live 2005 is just as good. I can't wait to find out.
