1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing.
I was looking forward to this book, hoping that Flynt would actually reveal something of himself that we didn't already know from the film "The People vs. Larry Flynt."Leave it to a pornographer to reveal absolutely nothing of importance. The book is really just a play-by-play of his 'career' -- and the writing is slow, at times meandering, and just boring.I've concluded Flynt himself is boring. Among other things, I would have loved to hear about his long feud with High Society publisher Carl Ruderman (one of the world's richest and least-known porn kings), but Flynt bails on us. Instead he opts to recount the demise of his wife and the legal particulars of his case with the Supreme Court. At times it's a bit reminiscent of the undoing of Lenny Bruce, standing on stage reciting court transcripts to a crowd expecting jokes. In the end, it's all just sad, pathetic and SOOOOOO old.

1-0 out of 5 stars America NEEDS more pornographers!!!
The fact that Larry Flynt has earned the undying gratitude of the Democratic Party is more of a sad commentary on that party than it is a compliment to Mr. Flynt!Yes, he's worked his way to the top and is now amillionaire --- but we could say the same about John Gotti or the ReverendJim Baker, and I certainly don't respect them!

No, I'm afraid Mr. Flyntis a flash in the pan, who will soon be discarded by his Democratic Partyfriends as the 2000 election nears. And these books showing him to be aheroic figure will fizzle out as well --- after all, Larry Flynt's loyalreadership requires full-frontal nudity in all of their reading material.

5-0 out of 5 stars A True Hero
Larry Flynt is a fighter who has overcome strong odds and defeated those who would stifle freedom and impose their own morality upon us all.Anyone who values personal freedom owes the author a debt of gratitude. ... Read more

Silly Sammy Slick and his friends can help motivatepreschoolers to learn their ABC's. This game, a great first board gamefor young kids, is brought to life by the Suessian characters from histimeless classic Dr.Seuss's ABC. Players move along the board, which features thealphabet in lower- and uppercase letters collecting cards as theytravel. Letter recognition is emphasized; as players land on a letterthey must search the table for the card bearing a matching letter, picture, or character. Landing on Y, for example, earns you aYoung Yolanda Yorgenson card. The player with the most cards onceeveryone has reached the Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz is the winner. --TrilbyCohen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ENLIGHTENING
This book was very interesting and difficult to put down once I began reading it. I have been a Motley Crue fan since 1985 when I was 13 years old...but now after reading this, I actually think I am less of a fan. I thought they had more substance. It's almost as if they didn't even care if they were a band or not. All they cared about was doing drugs, having sex, and being mean to people. They didn't care about those songs they recorded that I used to listen to all the time that turned me into a fan. They only wanted me to buy their albums so they could use my money to buy cocaine. The stories about how they would get into fights and hurt people for no good reason don't impress me. In fact, they make me sick. I was actually thinking of spending $100 to see them in concert this summer, but now after reading this book, I'd think I'd rather skip it and save my money than contribute to their drug and alcohol consumption. I'm glad they gave me something interesting to read for a few days, but I think (and I must not be the only fan to think this) they did themselves a big diservice by printing it.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST SELF-DESTRUCTION MANUAL EVER WRITTEN
THE PERSONALITIES INVOLVED IN THE MAKEUP OF MOTLEY CRUE ARE FASCINATING.LOVED THE BOOK-COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN.I AM SO ASHAMED OF MYSELF -- BUT, GOD, IT WAS FUN!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars THEY'VE GROWN UP!
I am the biggest Crue fan!Loved them since '82.I got this book and read it in one day.I couldn't put it down. The way it's written allows each person to tell their version in their way.It brought me back to some of the best times of my life.Yeah, the 80's were all about excess - but what an awesome time it was!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very cute and fun to play!
We got his game for our 3 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas and she has really enjoyed it. We haven't really "followed the rules" with this one - we kind of just set it up and she goes through all the haystacks testing them out to find the animal babies. She's always thrilled when she guesses right, and is just as excited to belt out, "No!" when the animals don't match. Very cute littlememory game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!
My son was 2 when we first got Old McDonald's Farm. He's 3 1/2 now and still loves to play it.His friends that come to visit also enjoy playing it - and that's saying alot for a bunch of active little boys!Normally we can't get them to sit still for anything. It's a great find for indoor play!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great First Game for Toddlers!!
Of all the games we own, this is by far the best for my almost 2 year old and 3 1/2 year old children! After the initial matching of animals to haystacks, set-up is minimal each time you play.

Play can range from just placing the farmer on and singing Old McDonald had a Farm or placing an animal on the stand and hearing their sounds(for really young children) to a challenging game of memory for older kids.AND, unlike some of our other toys and games where the song can drive you crazy, this one is EASY to turn off.Just take the pieces off the electronic part, and the noise stops!!

If we need a present we know a child would enjoy, this is always the game we buy!All of our friends have been equally impressed!

1-0 out of 5 stars A GIANT OF AN INVESTOR-a minature of a book
First time I was ever let down by Amazon. I've gone back a few times to look at the description of this item and have not seen it described as a little tiny minature of a very famous book. The book easily fits in your shirt pocket. It is filled with very important Lynch quotes, but it is very abridged. Not worth the time to return so I am 4.95 wiser.

1-0 out of 5 stars Warning - this is a MINATURE book
This is *not* the full version.Check out the size and the number of pages and compare to other versions.Don't buy this book if you want the complete version.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for long-term investors....
Decided to pick up this book after reading Kiyosaki's bestseller, Rich Dad, Poor Dad.I've lost a bit of money in the market (2001 - 2004, but who hasn't?) and resolved to myself that I would learn more about investing.Kiyosaki's recommendation was for Lynch's other book, "Beating the Street" but "One Up on Wall Street" looked more interesting and timely.

Given that I'm from the Boston area, I was already familiar with Peter Lynch and Fidelity Investments.Lynch's claim to fame was managing Fidelity's flagship mutual fund, Magellan, to stellar returns over many years.Lynch's advice in this book is based around the premise that most mutual fund managers while professionals, are often conservative in nature as compared to individual investors. They are bound to rules and regulations within their industry and trying to move a billion dollars worth of equities can be slow and tedious. Also their tendency to protect their capital and follow the pack means that most fund managers only perform adequately and don't really earn their pay.

According to Lynch, an informed and educated individual investor can match or beat most fund managers. He has a much better chance of beating these professionals if he looks for undervalued stocks and stays in for the long-haul.Not that much different from Warren Buffet's investing mantra, it's all about assets and earnings.Lynch recommends going for the smaller growth stocks with strong fundamentals to really impact your portfolio since they are typically under most fund managers' radar screens.Once they are discovered, you can ride the stock up as they take positions.Finding these diamonds in the rough requires a bit of screening and research but all the tools and information are now available to the average investor on the internet.Oftentimes, these diamonds are right under your nose, businesses that you are familiar with as an every-day consumer.

I really enjoyed Lynch's writing style, he mixes substantive graphs and real-life examples with self-deprecating wit and personal stories. It's comforting to know that even a investment guru like himself is capable of making (and learning from) mistakes. There are a handful of chapters and pages that are particularly useful providing broad guidelines and metrics that one should use when analyzing stocks.

The bottom line is if you want to make money investing, you need to identify what type of investor you are, do your research and homework on companies, invest in stocks that meet your criteria/goals and keep an eye on things. The work required is not insignificant but if you don't do your homework, you're better off going to Las Vegas and betting on red.Overall, Beating the Street is not only an enjoyable read but a really wonderful overview of how to create a personal investement strategy.I tip my hat to Mr. Lynch for this great primer, all beginner investors should have this book on their bookshelf... ... 4-0 out of 5 stars When wrong is right ...
I had never really liked Jim Bakker and the seeming insincerity of his program, so the title "I Was Wrong" caught my interest immediately.Surprisingly, the book follows that theme, which is refreshing in itself. For any public and/or religious celebrity to admit his wrongs....shows that they have now got it more right! There are some awesome insights, and NO WHINING !!!I am ordering paperback copies to send into a local prison and will give one to my pastor.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Is A Great Book
This is the dedication - "To my two wonderful children, Tammy Sue and Jamie Charles, who never waivered in their love and support and who gave me a reason to go on when all hope was gone." In about 5 years Jim Bakker got his life back. He had been sentenced to 45 years originally. Due to the fact that he was famous/wealthy he was able to get quality legal representation for his appeal. He won his appeal and the sentence was reduced to one that fit the crime, about 5 years. Thank God, he did finally receive justice. One wonders, if Jim was a more ordinary person would he still be rotting in prison serving 45 years. That would be a terrible injustice.

    Spiritual (Middletown 320/1)

5-0 out of 5 stars HE WAS RIGHT TO WRITE THIS BOOK!!
I never liked Bakker.I never watched Bakker on TV.I was embarrassed by his ministry.I was horrified about his theology.

But for some reason someone gave me this book and I was deeply moved.

What Bakker was wrong about was "Prosperity Gospel."The idea that God wants Christians to be rich and wealthy.Bakker says, "For years I had embraced and espoused a gospel that was branded 'prosperity gospel.' I didn't mind the label, on the contrary I was proud of it. 'You're absolutely right!' I'd say to critics... Look at all the rich saints in the Old Testament... I even got to the point where I was teaching..."Don't pray, 'God your will be done.' You already know it is God's will for you to have those things... when you want a new car, claim it." (page 532)

This is a wonderful message from a televangelist turned pastor, an entertainer turned theologian. ... Read more

Electronic sensors in each of the mud holes and on the bottom of eachswine let the game know to begin and assign each of the five spots one line ofthe nursery rhyme. If you pickup the piggy that ate roast beef first, you have to wait until your next turn totry again. Once a player finds all five pigs in the right order, the game'sfriendly voice asks you to rearrange them again, making a new sequence for therhyme to continue the game. Four cardboard pigs that stand in plastic bases makeup the pieces players move around the board. 4-0 out of 5 stars Really funfor a while but becomes boring quickly...
it's basically a memory game.there are 5 phrases which correspond to the "this little piggie went to the market, this little piggy stayed home" et cetera diddy. The objective is to recall which phase corresponds to which pig in which order.Although my 2 1/2 year old liked it for about 3 days she quickly mastered it.My 3 1/2 never really mastered it, not sure if she just didn't like it but it rarely comes out of the box.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Toy!!
My kids (age 2.5 and 4) got this toy for Christmas and we still play it all the time.My 4 year old is better at it than we are!It is a lot of fun and teaches memory skills and concentration. The piggies voices are cute and not annoying like a lot of games so you can play it over and over. The kids get so excited when they get them all right and get to hear it sing the whole song just for them.I highly recommend this toy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very cute game!
Our daughter just received this as a gift for her third birthday. She & her sister have been playing it all morning!
I think it's a smart toy, when you pick all the pigs in the correct order of the verse, the toy mixes up the pigs for the next player! The voices of the pigs are adorable also! ... Read more
