5-0 out of 5 stars Great sofa!
We were so pleased with our Dora the Explorer sofa that we bought this version for a friend. 1-2-year-olds will find this just the right size for them. It's a relief to find a piece of furniture that fits a growing child without having to pay top-dollar furniture prices!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best couch around

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful book
My son is 3 1/2 and I had been trying to potty train him for about a year and he was not getting it. I was very stressed out and reading lots of books for parents that were never a help to me when I decided to try this book to read to my son. Within a couple of days he was potty trained and he was very happy and proud to be like Caillou. I will always be grateful to this book and I will forever remember Caillou for helping my son. This is a wonderful book. I highly recommend it.

2-0 out of 5 stars What A Letdown!
I bought this book because my daughter loves the TV show. The illustrations don't look much like the animation on PBS (the book must be the original - before Caillou was "discovered").The book is colorful, but longwinded and somewhat repetitious. My biggest beef with the story: Caillou ditches his diapers for underwear BEFORE he is potty trained. That's insane! As a result, Mommy ends up changing her son's wet pants often.

We have read almost every potty book available on the market as of 9/2003 (over two dozen!).Most fit into two categories: INSTRUCTIONAL books that introduce the skills needed to master the potty; and those that are primarily ENTERTAINING, for children who understand what is supposed to happen on the potty, but need extra time to make it happen.

I think Caillou - Potty Time fits more in the INSTRUCTIONAL category for the following reasons:

    1) It identifies the purpose of the potty.
    2) It specifies bodily functions such as "poop" and "pee."
    3) Includes the important steps such flushing.

My advice - there are other instructional potty books on the market that are much better.Try What to Expect When You Use the Potty by Heidi Murkoff, You Can Go to the Potty by Martha Sears, or My Big Girl Potty by Joanna Cole.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not helpful
This book did not help at all with the potty training. My daughter loves Caillou and I thought it might help her figure out the potty. It didn't. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars still a favorite after all these years...
I just bought this item for my nephew's 2nd birthday. It was a no brainer because I remember how much fun my own 2 boys had with this very same set when they were younger - they're both teenagers now and have graduated to the "real professional sets" although I'm confident their first Little Tykes set was fun & encouraged them enough to make them want to continue enjoying the game!

5-0 out of 5 stars Top ten toy for toddlers
We received this toy as a gift when my son was almost two. Now a year later, I'm buying a replacement - we have played with this so much in in our driveway that he's worn a hole in the bottom of one of the clubs! Not that this set isn't durable, but it has seen a lot of action at our house. It's been one of if not the most popular toy with my son for an entire year. It's nice that there are two clubs as well so that other children or mom/dad can join in.We lost the balls that came with it quickly but wiffleballs or practice golf balls work great as replacements.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good golf toy
My mom gave this set to our 3 year old daughter last year. She played with it as soon as she saw it and still plays with it every day. The set is composed of a pretend iron, a pretend putter, a golf cart, an inverted cup that serves as the hole and 3 balls.

Since I, my husband and her older sister play real golf, my now-4 year old has graduated to a real putter and hits with adult golf balls. Whether or not you plan to introduce your child to the sport, it's still a good toy. She still pays with this set inside the house. It's made of plastic so it hasn't damaged the furniture and yet it's sturdy enough not to fall apart. Just make sure you assemble the golf cart correctly or else it can turn into a little surfing board. ;) When it's not golf, the cart has been used to transport various toys from room to room and outdoors.

Also, even though it's bigger than a regulation hole in a golf course, we've all used the inverted cup to practise our putting. I highly recommend this set for golf, its versatility, sturdiness and fun factor! ... Read more

Every child knows this much about evolution: somewhere, way, way back,we were kangaroos. All you need to satisfy the deep primal desire to get aroundby hopping is one of these big, heavy-gauge vinyl hopping balls. The slightlystippled surface of the blue vinyl provides plenty of grip, and the ballinflates to over 53 inches in circumference, so it can accommodate differentsizes of human Roo. The best feature of this model is a large, solid,arch-shaped handle so that you can hang on across long stretches of roughoutback. A pump is required.--Richard Farr ... Read more

THIS TOY WOULD BE MUCH MORE DEMANDING IF IT WERE A LARGER BALL MY SON WHO IS EIGHT WANTS ONE REAL BAD BUT I CAN'T FIND ON THAT
WILL FIT HIS SIZE AND I AS AN ADULT WOULD LOVE TO PLAY WITH THE
    KIDS WITH THESE TOYS.

5-0 out of 5 stars On our THIRD one!!!!
We got this toy for our son when he was 2 yrs of age, now, at age 10, we're buying a 3rd one.As he's grown, he's adapted the hopper to his "playing wants".Now, the hopper hangs from a rope attached to a large tree and is very roughly played with. These things are so durable, we trust the ball more than the branch it hangs from! Now, all the boys in the neighborhood want to play in our yard!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not that great
My daughter loves telephones. She somewhat enjoyed this one but then became more interested in the flap when she took it off. The volume wasnt very loud on this phone either. To be honest i dont even know where this toy phone is right now.

1-0 out of 5 stars Can I rate it a minus zero?
The phone looks cute and it would be a wonderful teaching tool for kids to learn spanish but one main problem is that you can't hear it. My 3 year old got it on her birthday and opened the phone and the flip part came off and she could not hear anything so it ended up in her toybox and I have not seen it since..

1-0 out of 5 stars THOUGHT IT WOULD BE LOUDER
I WAS REALLLY DISAPPOINTED WHEN I FINALLY BOUGHT BATTERIES FOR THIS (THE DEMO BATTERIES WERE DEAD). THE VOICES ARE SO LOW YOU CAN HARDLY HEAR THEM. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE THAT WAY OR NOT, BUT I SURE WISH THERE WERE AN ADJUSTMENT LEVEL FOR THE VOLUME. OTHERWISE IT DID SEEM LIKE A GOOD IDEA FOR A BABY PHONE. ... Read more

Bring the great outdoors right into a child's bedroom with this miniature camping lantern. The lantern's light beam can easily illuminate a bed-blanket tent (perfect for after-hours reading), and can even be used in real tents or playhouses. Children can also press a button and hear the sounds of the wilderness. An owl hoots, crickets chirp, frogs cry, "Ribbit," squirrels chatter, and night birdstwitter--all of which makes a soothing nighttime symphony. I fixed one of these for my twin 4 year-old nephews and they played with (fought over) it for hours. They got it as an unworking hand-me-down. The wiring is extremely low-quality, but servicable if you're handy. We want to buy one or two more, but can't find them.

It absolutely facinates my nephews! I think people would pay more for them if they were better built. Please make more.

    Editorial Review

Parents have embraced Fisher-Price's wildly popular Rescue Heroes series of action figures for the positive, nonviolent alternative they provide to more violent toys. Back Hoe takes it even further; he's not just constructive, he actually works in construction. Back Hoe, in the mythology of the Rescue Heroes, is a robot specially designed to get in and do the difficult work that's too dangerous for his human counterparts. Back Hoe is equipped with a drill attachment for his arm and he can transform into a front-load scooper, able to toss dirt behind him. We found the backpack attachment to be a bit tricky to attach but we got the hang of it after a while. We also suspect that the combination of a Rescue Hero, a robot, and construction equipment, will make this a popular toy among younger grade-school age children. --John Moe ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not enough bang for the buck!
My 3 1/2 yo son loves rescue heroes...he has many of them. This one is a little too hard for him to work easily, and when he does put forth the effort to get the flip-back ready and then to flip it, it just doesn't seem like a great action. It seems the kids also like the human heroes with faces and don't seem to bond with a robot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for slightly-older RH fans
Our 4 year old son just received Back Hoe for his birthday. He was thrilled, and this one gets a lot of play (he has quite a few Rescue Heroes figures). The backpack is a little complicated to get attached to the robot's back, however -- could be a bit frustrating for younger fans. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Toys Today
We became fans of Rescue Heros just before 9-11.My son was days shy of his third birthday when terror rocked the world. In the months and weeks to follow, there were lots of stories of the heros in the NYFD, NYPD and the medical teams. My son vowed to become just like the men he saw and his uncle who is NJPD. Over the years we have increased our collection of these great toys, and to date we have 18 characters and the police car.For christmas i have ordered most of the other playsets and vechicles.

These toys are the best value for money you can get today. They are durable, fun, super educational and they help instill lots of what we are starting to lose in the world today -- service above self.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rescue Heroes really save the day and teach a lesson
During the last few months, I gradually purchased numerous Rescue Heroes for my now 3 year old son for his birthday and it has proven to be a worthwhile investment. He has pulled me aside to ask me about what each of the different characters uniforms means and what they do for their "jobs."I explained each one to him and he has been spending his days role playing with them, creating situations where his other action figures are in dangerous situations and need assitance. Then he uses the correct Rescue Hero to save the day and make things right again. He, also, allows his 2 year old cousin to join in and they have learned more in 2 weeks than they learned in a year of formal daycare. He has requested Rescue Heroes software for his computer, which he now has and spends hours each day working out new scenarios and later brings a part of that into his playing with the action figures. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars CD stands well on its own
I just wanted to add that you *do not* need to watch the show or own the "Yummy Yummy" video to appreciate this CD....It is full of classic folk tunes and preschool singalongs, as well as their original compositions like "Yummy Yummy" and "Hot Potato".

We started listening to the Wiggles when after 3-year old had turned 2, and waited to watch the videos until at least that old.He enjoys the traditional tunes as much as the Wiggles tunes.Just because a song doesn't have words (like the instrumentals) doesn't mean your child can't appreciate them and dance along!

Please think about how you choose the albums you own--Do all the songs on an album have to be similar for you to enjoy it?This and other Wiggles albums have a great variety of music to learn, appreciate, and enjoy in various ways. The number of songs featured on the Wiggles videos and TV show don't do justice to the wealth of music they offer for children's entertainment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD!
My little girl (who is 14 months old)LOVES this CD. We've had it for a few months now, and she begs me to play it all the time. Her favorites are Hot Potato and Fruit Salad, although she lovesALL the songs. My personal favorite is Captain Feathersword. :)

I highly recommend this CD! It's a life saver for me. I'm able to do some housework while my little girl listens to it and plays quietly on her own. Yay!

5-0 out of 5 stars OK, my take on things...
I am 19 years old and i'm into stuff like (Metallica, Megadeth.. ect.), but i also have a daughter who is now 11 months. I downloaded (Hot Patato) off the internet and she began clapping, and shouting, it was amazing how much she liked it. So, i began buying all of there videos and became a fan myself. No matter if people say their goofy, or whatever... I think their musically talented as well as a great band for my daughter, and i. I recommend this album to anyone who enjoys nice, and wacky tunes! I normally don't buy these types of toys, but this one came free with another Wiggle purchase. My nearly two year old daughter loooves the Feather Sword.I still have not figured out her fascination with the Wiggles, but when they are on TV, she is totally glued. She dances, sings and interacts. And now when the Wiggles comes on, she immediately grabs her Feather Sword and starts imaginative play. I'm glad I got this for free, but seeing how much she loves it, I would have gladly paid the ten bucks.

The feather sword toy has 2 beautiful colors, purple and red like some of his clothes.I just love it so much because, there's two different ways on how the Captain got his name.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toy for twins!
My twins got this toy for their 2nd birthday. It's great becuase they can both play with it at the same time.It is engineered well so that if one gets off the other one does not tip over backwards. We use the toy both inside and outside and the girls love it!!

    5-0 out of 5 stars Nice see-saw
We have ALOT in our backyard. Kiddie pool, sandbox, sand and water table, swing set, a custom built tree house, but we didnt have this. Our 3 year olds loved the see-saws at nursery school, that they got this one for their birthdays in February! It is VERY educational because it teaches cause and effect, cooaperation, and sharing. My twins love going back and forth and its very safe. They now know that this see-saw takes TWO people to ride, while the police rocker and doggie rocker in the basement were for one person. I hear them pretending its a ship and I've seen four kids on it at a time. We all love it and its a very nice looking see-saw too!

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT kitchen
We had a hand-me down kitchen since my first b/g twins were 18 months, they are now 3 and have 8 month old twin brothers. We decided that a pink kitchen wasnt fit for our family, so we went in search of a new one. It was between this one and the dream kitchen. They were both, non gender specific, and both interactive. We liked this one better because the colors are more appealing to kids (atleast it was to our 3 year olds in toys r us) and that it is a little more interactive. Of course this kitchen should be for pretend, but its nice that you can put eggs on the stove and it will tell you what it is, you can also buy additional interactive foods from toysrus and from amazon. It is very durable and has held up to much abuse. My 3 year olds love to cook when mommy does (ours is in the kitchen and the old one is in the playroom). We have a lot of dishes and food, and for the ones that dont fit in the kitchen, we put in a small basket next to it. ITs big enough for about 3-4 toddlers to play with at a time. It encourages sharing and cooaperation. My kids have alot of fun with it and they espcially like the oven, who knows why! I think this kitchen is great, cute friendly and a little more interactive than the lifestyles!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fix for loudness!
I tried a suggestion that I got from a review back on January 2, 2004. Putting clear mailing tape over the round voice box (located under the black grill next to the burner) works great to reduce the sounds of the interactive burner and water sounds from the faucet to a much better level for both adults and the kids! This is easier done during the initial assembly, but the grill over the voice box can also be popped out by gripping the left side with two hands and sliding to the right, then lift up. It is easy to just snap it back in place after putting on the tape.

I researched this kitchen last year when my granddaughter was only one and kept it in mind to purchase this year. I've noticed that the manufacturer's statement has been shortened and I wanted everyone to know that the tap on the faucet has a "motion sensor"that activates dish and silverware clanging sounds with the running water sound, as long as there is movement under the spout. This is a great feature along with the food recognition on the burner. And you can use any plastic pan on the burner, not just the two that come with it. It's the food item in the pan that is somehow magically recognized!

I have learned that this model is being discontinued so if you are interested in this wonderful product, get it while you still can! The internet was the only place I was able to find it still available. (...)

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun
Our 18 month old son recieved this kitchen as a Christmas gift last year and loves it. It is a perfect size for both him and his 5 year old brother. They both play with it daily, unlike other toys that they have recieved and forget about. The constuction is as tough as it gets. Boys being boys, this toy has been used for many things other than just a kitchen(spaceship), and has always stood up to any abuse. If you can live with the color it comes in, it's a great toy. I'm currently looking to see if there are more "food" pieces that go with it. One last bit, do not wait until the night before to put it together, it takes a good hour for one person, but it's easy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars We read this book ad nauseum
This is my 2 y/o son's favorite book EVER! We have to read it every night and take it on all our overnight trips. Needless to say, even he has the text memorized. Yes, the Tonka logo shamelessly displayed on every truck is a bit much, but I've found this book to include the widest variety of trucks. These are displayed nicely in their appropriate "scenes", and the information on each truck's capabilities is a great learning tool. My son is so thrilled when we come across these machines at work in our day-to day life, and he couldn't wait to go to the State Fair. It's been the best money I've spent on a book for him yet, even though I wish we could skip it and perhaps read Stellaluna instead just one night.

5-0 out of 5 stars Plenty of details to keep you interested
My son has loved this book since he got it a year ago when he was 1.5 years old. I have found as time goes on he always finds new things to ask about - each page is packed with detail, but not so busy as to be a turnoff. This book has provoked alot of discussion about how houses are built, how roads are made, what happens on a farm etc. There is enough there to keep kids interested for a long time!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A big commercial for Tonka -- but kids love it
My in-laws gave this book to my 22-month-old son, who loves trucks, construction vehicles and machinery, and it became an instant favorite of his. They were a bit hesitant at first about buying the book because it's essentially a big commercial for Tonka products -- every truck and construction vehicle in the book (and there are many) has "TONKA" prominently written on it. That caveat aside, however, it _is_ a great book for kids who share my son's interests -- it shows the trucks in action and explains the name and uses of each. I also like the fact that it shows both women and men operating the trucks. ... Read more
