1-0 out of 5 stars Beware -- the good reviews are for other software titles!
I purchased Reader Rabbit Math ages 4-6 based on the excellent reviews listed here. The software was so awful that I had to come back to see why everyone thought it was so great. Then I noticed under each review "for an alternate product."Maybe other Reader Rabbit products are good but this one jumps from counting objects in Level One to adding three numbers on Level Two.I would think that it would make sense to stick to 2+2 before jumping to 2+3+4 which is what this program does.My five year old was immediately intimidated and confused by the software when she tried Level Two.Definitely not worth the money!

5-0 out of 5 stars outstanding!
My oldest son was having a lot of trouble in grade two with both math and reading and I purchased this CD-rom hoping it would help him to learn by having more fun and not even realizing he was learning.I was not let down.He loves to play this game. The story line is great and very entertaining and the graphics are excellent.Overall I highly recommend this game to help any child to master early grade math skills.Well woth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars A kid favorite!
My sons will be in 2nd and 3rd grade in the fall. They just love this game and would rather play it than any of their other games.I hope to find a sequel for they will be done with this game before long. ... Read more

In Hasbro's Fishin' Around, eight colorful fish swim up, down, and around a stream, wigglingfrom side to side and opening and closing their mouths. Kids take turns picking cards and using theirdifferent-colored fishing poles to hook and catch the fish pictured on the card that they've chosen. The firstplayer to catch three, wins. Two to four preschoolers through first graders can play this motorized musicalfish-catching game without knowing how to read. 4-0 out of 5 stars great birthday gift for 3-6 year olds
My son received this as a gift for his 4th birthday and it was a hit with all the kids there, ages 3-50.
It is one of the rare toys that he still plays with a year later. What I loved about this is that he can play it by himself or with friends. It is very easy and entertaining.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Grandson loves this game!
This game provided at least 45 minutes of enjoyment for my 2- 1/2 year old grandson. The same day, he went back two or more times for "more".We were amazed that it went over so well as it was mfr. recommended for 3 year olds.He had no trouble with catching the fish, but we are waiting to "deal" the cards as he gets older. The music is fun, but it's easier on the ears if it is on the carpet.
We did have to exchange the first game we bought due to gear problems. The second one works just fine.
It's a great game to keep at "Grandma's house" to give him something special to do with us older folks.A Grandma

3-0 out of 5 stars Annoying longer than it is fun....
My kids had this toy when they were younger and I HATED it. They were actually pretty interested in it for the first month. After that it only saw occasional use. What I still remember though is how annoyingly repetitive the music was. At least it was in tune, unlike some musical toys.

The pieces are quite durable (I still find them occasionally) but they are easily separated and scattered, making the set less usable. I don't recommend this toy. ... Read more

      Editorial Review

Sally, Stevie, Stanley, Sophie, Stewie, and Sid are six colorful, lightweight bowling pins--each with their own personality--that talk to kids while they bowl. Taunts such as "C'mon!Roll the ball already!" get kids started, and phrases such as "Whew! That was close," keep them aiming for the pins. Bells, whistles, and cheers are heard if a spare or strike is bowled. The tan plastic base has six colored circles to hold the pins in place, but it is not required that colors match up for a game to begin. Silly 6 Pins only keeps score one frame (two balls) at a time, so keep a pad of paper nearby if you're playing as a family. Three AA batteries are required, but not included. --Pam Lauer ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Only if your playroom is nowhere near where you sleep...
As others have stated, it's a great, durable little game.I won't argue with that. However, it would have been better if if weren't made of such hard noisy plastic! When the ball crashes the pins, it really crashes! Many times we have been awakened in the morning to the repeated sound of crashing pins rivaling that of a real bowling alley eminating from the floor below. It gets really irritating after about five minutes! So be forewarned, if you like to sleep in, be sure this game is locked up!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun for the whole family!
My little boy got to open this on Christmas Eve, his grandparents got it for him.My little boy was so shocked and excited when he saw the game!He had wanted this game for several months but I was'nt sure he'd like it as much as he wanted it but it was one of those games that I was wrong about- He loves it!I have to admit it is really a fun game.Thebowling pens shake and talk to you as you play and they say funny, cute phrases. My little boy who is almost 4 can set the game up him self and play it without anyone else or if he wants we can play with him.I like games that he can understand and be able to play without having a second player all the time.It makes this game even more a good purchase because being an only child there is'nt many games that are like this.He loves this game and still plays it a lot even 3 1/2 months later.I would reccommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars FUN FOR ALL AGES
I was reluctant to purchase this toy for my son's third birthday simply because he has never been bowling or knew anything about it.However, based on your reviews I decided to try it out.My son is not easy to keep busy and this was the trick! This toy is a blast! He loves to set the pins up just as much as he loves to knock them down.He plays it with his 12 year old sister and it seems to be the only time that they don't bug eachother. They have a ball!we all do, the voices are cute, but I wish it was louder.Easy to clean up, and just plain fun!I think we will get lots of milage out of this game. ... Editorial Review

Lucky Ducks is a sound-and-motion version of the typical color-matching game. An adult will need about 15 minutes to prepare the game (installing batteries, labeling ducks, and punching out cardboard nests), and then it's time to start selecting lucky duckies. A quacking sound effect is heard as the motorized board moves the 12 ducks around the pond. The first player to pick three ducks with colored stickers, which match the color of their nest, is the winner. The game has a couple of drawbacks: there is no volume control, so kids must figure out where their ducks are by watching the previous player replace them on the pond, and there are no game variations. --Pam Lauer ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Daughter Loves it & I HATE IT
My daughter absolutely loves this game!It is one of her favorite games. My only complaint is, WHY o WHY couldn't they have put an on / off switch on this game!We stack our games up on the shelves and if you place any games on top of this larger box game it will start quacking and is impossible to get to shut off!I considered taking the batteries out but you must unscrew the compartment. What a hassle for each time you want to play.Even though this game quacks all the time, the batteries have held out well and structurally it has held out excellent considering we are always beating on the box to get it to shut up!If the company would but a shut off button on this game, I would quickly throw this one in the trash and race off to buy one with a shut off button.Still a great game for children.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toy
I recently purchased this toy for my 2 1/2 year old daughter and she loves it. The ducks are so cute quacking and swimming around the "pond". We have created our own version of the game.We take turns pushing the big red button to start and stop the ducks. When the ducks are stopped, we each pick a duck and match the duck to it's home color. This game creates fun while learning.I must admitt the quacking gets a little old, but what child's noise-making toy doesn't.My daughter loves to play this game, and I would recommend it to anyone.

3-0 out of 5 stars I will reconsider
It's a cute game. It will hold a toddler's interest. And it's simple and fun. However, ours did not work straight out of the box. We returned it and got something else, because I felt that it was probably a game that wouldn't last. After reading all these reviews, about how durable it is, I might reconsider and try giving it another chance. ... Read more

So, it doesn't have the most exciting name, but this is still anoutstanding set of DUPLO blocks for young builders. What makes the140-piece set so entertaining is the variety of the blocks. There areplenty of vehicle pieces with little wheels to make trains or cars. 5-0 out of 5 stars Update on a previous review- this toy has been improved!
Not long ago I reviewed this toy (under my husband's ID) and mentioned that it featured only one piece with wheels on it.Since then this toy has been updated. As you can see from the image above, the toy now features numerous pieces with wheels. Please disregard the other review as it applies to an older version of the duplo 140-piece set. Apparently LEGO has taken customer suggestions to heart and come out with a set that features numerous pieces with wheels. YAY!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best
I have found that the set is the very best!I ordered this when my grandson was 3 years old and he loves it more now at 5 years old because his imagination has grown and he can build even bigger and better structures. His 3 year old sister tries to use his blocks, but he resists, so I must order more so that the both can enjoy this very durable, large, wonderful set.

5-0 out of 5 stars glue it to a piece of wood
If you're worried about it flexing glue it to a piece of wood. If you get the right thickness of wood you can match the height of the board to the height of a regular brick (ie: 3 flats high). I've got two of them expoxyed to the center of a 2' x 4' piece of MDF (~ $3 + epoxy) and it works great on the carpet. There's extra room around the plates for building or running cars on, etc.

3-0 out of 5 stars Oh no, not again...
I needed something to land my Lego Millennium Falcon (check it out at www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001CU1HY/ref=cm_aya_asin.title/104-0488135-0118334?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance ) on, so I decided to pick one of these up. It seemed all right at first, but thanks to its lack of rigidity it's a bit loath to hold onto the ship's landing gear. One little flex when I'm movin' it from one room to another, and alla' sudden the Falcon's takin' a catastrophic hyperdrive jump straight downward to Planet Floor. It also doesn't hold onto the various mini-figures very well, either. On the upside: it goes a lot better with those Lego Star Wars ships than the much smaller green base plate I was planning to get instead...

4-0 out of 5 stars It's not what I remember.....
Yes, it's a grey 15" square Lego plate. But I seem to remember the "baseplates" being the same thinkness as a regular Lego piece....the base plate is a thin (1/16"?), flexible Lego baseplate that will allow you to build really big stuff, but it's tough to use on the "living room carpet" because it is so thin it flexes into the carpet when you try to press a "house" onto it.The result is that either only one corner of the house sticks, or it sticks fine, but all the other structures you've put on, flex off.

Anyway, it's a vital item in any kid's (or adult's) Lego set.... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This baseplate is awesome!
This is a comment in response to the completely irrelevant post from tiffkilner; perhaps she should get a life instead of attacking honest helpful reviewers on the site. It is clear that the BIG GRAY BOARD is 125 sq in. larger than the the LARGE GREEN BASEPLATE and that the previous reviewer erroneously lists as an extra 25 sq in. in extra play value. Considering that the market for this toy is aged 3 to 12 years old, pointing out such a significant error is quite valuable. I do not know of many 3 year olds that can compute the area of a basic shape so having such errors pointed out is imperative for such audiences. What is of importance is how the LARGE GREEN BASEPLATE rank in value versus the BIG GRAY BOARD -- to make an asinine remark just because you do not share the views of the commentor is truly unwarranted.

To the reviewer named "G-Had", it is a shame that you do not fully accredit the LARGE GREEN BASEPLATE as a full-blown toy -- merely a "part" of the toy. Such debasement of an integral and vital component of the Lego universe shows how narrow minded you are. Must I remind you that there have been other reviewers that have been able to obtain hours of replay value with just the single BIG GRAY BOARD piece alone. I concede that the versatility of the LARGE GREEN BASEPLATE is somewhat dimished by the smaller surface area and the green color. However, this piece deserves to be honored as one of the major innovations in the Lego brick system.

Furthermore, I suspect that you may have been posting your review of this product fraudulanetly as your review hints that you do not comprehend the basic facts of this product. Please recheck your facts and **PLAY** with the toy before posting a review. This toy is clearly 10" by 10" not 15" by 15". Your lack of knowledge of such a basic fact about the toy suggests that you have never played with this toy before let alone had the pleasure to enjoy the pure delight from playing with this piece. I deplore you to please remove your review of this product or revise your rating until you have had a chance to play with this piece. I would be interested in your honest opinion regarding this piece as well as the much-vaunted BIG GRAY BOARD **AFTER** you have played with them.

5-0 out of 5 stars You definitely need these things...
Honestly, I found these plates a LOT cheaper in my local meijer's store, plus they were on sale to boot. That said, you really can't do without these baseplates if your child is going to build anything with legos. It's a bunch of fun anyway, seeing how high you can make towers, which is impossible to do without one of these. They should include these in the sets and how about different colors too?Gray and green get a little boring. You really can't use those colors when you're pretending to be out in the desert with your big army tanks, now can you?Sure wish I could find one of those big legos tables - if anyone sees one, please let me know. They would be an even better investment over these baseplates. ...
