5-0 out of 5 stars To The Recue...From Boredom!
This is one of my daughter's favorite My First Leappad books. The story is fairly simple.Dora and Boots find a lost baby blue bird and precede to return it to its mother. My daughter really enjoys the story, though. The book is very colorful and there are a lot of activities that would interest a toddler, especially music from the show.If you're only going to get a few of the My First Leappad books, I would put this one at the top of your list, especially if you're child likes Dora The Explorer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Teaches young kids
Dora is a hit in my household. If your child enjoys Dora, you won't be disappointed in this fun little book. This book teaches lots of vocabulary both English and Spanish. It's a fun book for little kids.My younger brother loved this book a lot; I hope you will like it to.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of Fun
I bought this for my daughter who is 3.We had a Great time with this, and I am shocked by the reviews. There are tons of activities in this.

We had no problems with the stickers or anything else. Please note that some of the "stickers" are vinyl clings that go with a picture frame included. They are not "stickers".However, yes there are other stickers that "stuck" just perfectly. My daughter is still running around with the "Swiper Mask" on.This had everything from coloring to punch outs, all sorts of activities. We had much fun with this, and there are still tons of activities for us to do together.

The only thing that I was disappointed with was that the card board is somewhat flimsy.Othewise, I thought this was great to do with my daughter.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed Mom
My daughter received this gift for her 3rd Birthday. Like all of the other reviews mentioned, the items inside are absolute junk. They all ripped and ended up being of no use.
The only positive note- She loves the rolling case, we use it to carry her dolls.

2-0 out of 5 stars Pretend like you're just buying the suitcase...
My 3-year old daughter loves Dora! She got one of these for Christmas & two for her birthday. I can't find anywhere to return the other two! She loves the suitcase & takes it on overnight trips & puts her toys in it, etc... (...) Definitely doesn't contain what the description says. The other reviews are right- Perferated edges not perferated enough. She loves stickers & even they didn't peel off without taking the back with them & tearing. Everything inside went in the trash after about a hour. Would buy again, just for the case! ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Dora the Explorer, "Nick Jr.'s" doe-eyed, Mexican sojourner, converses in Spanish and English as a doll as naturally as a cartoon. From simple, one-word translations to the "Happy Song," Dora speaks and sings using over 30, clearly pronounced, easy-to-learn words. She interacts with four included friends--a star, baby bird, butterfly and frog--who respond with movement, light and sound (via microchips) when placed in her right hand. Dora's body is designed to sit rather than stand (she has a very flat bum and solid posture), so she's actually built to be conversational. Just position her on the edge of a chair and the fun begins. If kids still need something to coddle, Dora has pliable extremities, and her pretty, brown hair can be combed. Her clothes, however, are not removable. Required: 4 "AA" batteries.--Diane Beall ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed!!!!
Half the time Dora doesn't even know what little friend she's holding ,that is if my daughter can find them!!! Most of the time Dora repeats her words over and over and over again like a broken record!! She is a huge Dora fan but has lost all interest in this toy. Wish I could get my money back.

4-0 out of 5 stars For Dora Fans
I bought this for my girlfriend's 3 year old and she absolutely loves it. She takes it with her to school every day. She already learned the little song that Dora sings and knows how to switch Dora's friends on the palm of her hand, herself. It's a good idea to keep Dora's friends always in your sight because once lost the doll will loose some of it's coolness. But I'm happy that I could make a 3 year old jump for joy. Great gift idea for a little Dora fan.

1-0 out of 5 stars This toy is a waste of money....do not buy it!
After opening this toy that Santa brought for my 3 year old (no small feat with the master degree holding packaging engineers securing each and every extremity and accessory piece with a wire), and playing with it for a few minutes, I immediately started to wonder why I couldn't get the toy to say the 30 phrases the box promised. My husband suggested that maybe there is a Spanish mode, but there is no "Spanish" button to be found.Additionally, I too thought for the price paid, the manufacturer could have included Dora's backpack to keep her "friends" in.
As another reviewer stated, I can only get the doll to say 8 phrases unless hola and adios count each as 1, then we're up to 10.
Furthermore, the weight of this doll, if launched, will surely break a window, dent a wood floor or cause a concussion in an innocent sibling standing by.
It should go without saying that this is going back as it doesn't do what is promised on the package. ... Read more

Our 3 year old daughter loves Boots. She talks to Boots and carries him around the house. We give it 5 stars for educational value because when she talks to Boots she acts out scenes from her Dora videos. This helps her alot with her speech skills and imagination. Editorial Review

Dora the Explorer would never think of setting out on an expedition without her trusty backpack, and chances are that any kid who gets hold of this hard-plastic backpack will feel the same. It features the same cheerful expression and, at the press of a button, it says one of four different upbeat lines or sings the "Backpack Song," which chances are your child already knows by heart. The sound is awfully loud, so parents may wish to have an artfully arranged piece of tape ready for muting purposes. Rounding out the ensemble are Dora-themed bracelet, camera, magnifying glass, and binoculars. While none of these accessories actually work, like the backpack in which they all fit, they're quite charming. --Charlie Williams ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but definitely not perfect.
I bought this for my two year old daughter last weekend. She is a huge Dora fan and she was very excited about it. She plays with it a lot, but she can't get the binoculars, etc. out of the backpack without my help. The bracelet also doesn't stay on her wrist very well. I don't really understand why they didn't put straps on the backpack either, but my daughter really doesn't seem to mind. Overall she really seems to be enjoying the toy, but it could have been designed better.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it!
I purchased this toy for my 2 year old.The box says 2+ for age recommendation. She loves Dora and was quite excited until she was unable to place the pieces in the backpack easily and she could not manage to get them out without help. She immediatley wanted to put it on her back and wear it but there are no straps.Overall, this toy is a bust and will be returned.

4-0 out of 5 stars 2 yr. old loves it!
My daughter received this as a gift on her 2nd birthday. She loves taking the objects in and out of the backpack.I often find her walking around the house "taking pictures" with the camera or looking out a window through the binoculars. She's not a Dora fan, but the items have lent themselves nicely to imaginative play.I'm not sure why the backpack is hard plastic and doesn't have any straps. My daughter doesn't seem to mind. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Gentle Story That Teaches Spanish Words For Animals
Good Night, Dora! is a Lift-the-Flap story by Christina Ricci, with illustrations by Susan Hall.

On her way home, Dora and Boots discover that many creatures are either already asleep or are getting sleepy. As they make their way home, they say Buenas noches (good night) to each of them.

The pages are thicker than regular Dora books, and the large, colorful flaps reveal not only the sleeping/sleepy creature, but also the Spanish word. For example, as Dora and Boots skip across stones in a pond, they hear "Ribbet, Ribbet". She says: "Hey, someone's making a sound in the pond. Do you know who?" When you pull down the flap, you see one purple frog that's happily asleep...while the other is getting drowsy. The words under the flap say "Good night, frogs! ¡Buenas noches, ranas!"

In addition to the frogs, youngsters learn the Spanish word for birds, bees, chickens, ducks, snakes, frogs, and owls. It's a great story for bedtime, because there aren't too many words to read. Yet, the gentle story will teach youngsters a variety of Spanish terms for 8 different creatures. At the end of Good Night, Dora!, her Mami (Mom) tucks her and Boots into bed.

This book holds up well, especially since the flaps aren't the kind that are over little niches/holes imbedded in the story (what you usually find in board books or those with very stiff pages...some Arthur and Bear in the Big Blue House flap books come to mind).

    Highly recommended!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not really a bedtime story
For a child who can't get enough Dora, this is a nice, colorful book and it teaches new Spanish words to an English-speaker. But I expected more of a good-night, bedtime story (a la "Goodnight Moon") and it's really more of a language lesson, saying goodnight to various animals without much of a wind-down to bedtime.

4-0 out of 5 stars A very sweet Dora Book
This is a very cute book and if your child is really into Dora (like mine) it will help get them to bed.Because if DORA is going to bed, so is she! :) However, I do agree with the one reviewer who said board books are better for lift the flap stories for this agegroup. My daughter is nearly 4 now, so it's ok for her, but when she was younger it was a problem. But if you have a Dora fan for a child, I guarnatee s/he will like this book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
My 3 year old son loves Bob the Builder, and has enjoyed learning to use his "My First Leap Pad" with Bob.The pictures are engaging and the games are easy to understand. We will definitely look for more Bob leap pad books!

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
My son (3 1/2) loves the characters in the First LeapPad book series, but doesn't really enjoy the LeapPad books. The pace is s-l-o-w. The orientation is instructional -- and not very fun. The system depends on the reader pressing a green "Go" button to identify which page is active. Every page is framed by a border that is reserved for the successively located "Go" buttons. This works fine until your little pre-reader zips the stylus over the full page looking for hidden treasures and triggers a "Go" button for a different page. Then everyone's confused. If your child is used to structured learning, they'll probably like this a lot. If your child is used to the pace and interactivity of computer software, save this until they have some preliminary reading skills.

4-0 out of 5 stars My 2 year old loves this!
I bought my 2 year old son a My First Leap pad for Christmas.Out of all of the books he received he enjoys this one the most.He is not a fan of Bob the Builder and does not like the show on television, but he sure enjoys this product. There is a lot of praise and positive reinforcement. He loves to hear them cheer and tell him that he did a great job.If the games are too difficult, the book allows him to just touch the various pictures on the pages which make various sounds etc. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars nice set for little Bob the Builder fans
Your little Bob the Builder fan will undoubtedly enjoy these figures -- Lofty has an extending magnetic crane and Wendy bends at the waist and shoulders.(And though I know there must be some intended use for the odd hands on this and the other human figure in this toy series, I cannot for the life of me figure out what it might be.) The figures are good for imaginative play and these have withstood plenty of play without breaking. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars The Lion King
A Joyous day dawned in the Pride Lands. A lion prince had been born! The animals gathered at Pride Rock to celebrate the Circle of Life. They bowed low as the wise babon Rafiki held Simba high. King Mufasa and Sarab watched their cub prodly.
But one animal was missing from the craud. Scar,Mufasa's brother, did not want to see his new nephew. "It must have slipped my mind,"scar told Mufasa. scar had hoped to become King when Mufasa's rule ended. Now he knew that Simba would become the next Lion King.
To try toget him out of the way. Scar set a trap for young Simba and his friend Nala. He tricked them into exploring on elephant graveyard. to make sure that Simba didn't come back, scar sent three hungry hyens to meet him.
Mufasa resued the young cubs. He did not know about scar's tric. He only knew that he was disappointed in his son for talking foolish chances scar was upset for a different resson: simba was still alive scar led Simba to a deep canyon and starter a stampede to crush him.

    Editorial Review

Elton John doesn't seem like a natural choice to write for a Disney musical, but he rose to the task on The Lion King, transcending his usual penchant for the softest of soft rock. Sir Elton's collaboration with Tim Rice (former writing partner of Andrew Lloyd Webber) helps connect the soundtrack to the theatrical lineage of all Disney musicals--so much so that, like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King was eventually adapted for Broadway. Undistinguished songs like "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" are far outnumbered by stirring, stately tunes that lent the film so much of its sense of pageant and play. --John Sanchez ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Relaxing Album...
This is a very relaxing and soothing album. Out of all the songs or instrumental's, my favorite would have to be 'This Land[Instrumental]'. Its very relaxing and helps you fall asleep, it also makes you think about things. At least it does to me. I just like this whole album. Should definetly buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars The new material is worthless, but the rest is golden
As you probably know, "The Lion King" is one of Disney's most popular movies. The soundtrack has been acclaimed for years as being one of the best ever for an animated film.

The five songs that were featured in the movie are good, to be sure."Be Prepared" is arguably the best song Disney has ever given one of its villians to sing, and "Hakuna Matata" makes the transition from Simba's youth to adulthood very smooth.I've always felt that the songs in "Aladdin" and "Beauty and the Beast" were better, but the songs from "The Lion King" are still among Disney's best.

The instrumental material is even stronger. The four tracks are instantly recognizable as being from "The Lion King."Sweeping, majestic, beautiful...Those words describe the tracks without exaggeration. They fit perfectly into the movie, but it's nice to know that they still sound great without the accompanying animation.

Unfortunately, the new material on the soundtrack isn't as successful as the original songs."The Morning Report" grows old very quickly, and the Simba/Mufasa dialogue doesn't fit into the song very well.SImba's vocals are even more irritating, but that is mostly due to the fact that he suddenly sounds feminine. That wouldn't be a problem, but his voice doesn't sound at all like it did in "Hakuna Matata" or "I Just Can't Wait to Be King."The third version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" isn't a justifiable addition; it wasn't featured anywhere in the movie, and we didn't need two versions of the Elton John cover to begin with.

The Elton John songs don't fit with the rest of the tracks and I've always felt that they detract from the album. They're at the CD's end, though, so they're easy to skip.

All in all, this is one of Disney's strongest soundtracks. The new songs don't warrant a purchase if you own the original, but for anyone else, the CD is well worth your money. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars NOT MUCH PURRING ACTION
With the title "Purring" Nala, I was under the impression the thing actually purred, but it does not.You have to shake her and make this ball sounding thing shake around inside of it, and that is what is supposed to be the "purring" sound. It is a very cute and cuddly thing though, but don't be mislead by the "purring".

4-0 out of 5 stars Very cute & cuddley
this toy is so....cute. It kinda has a purring sound. I think it has beads in it. (its still cute though.) So at least you don't have to change the batteries. Its a good toy for any loin king lover. Also I think that it is for younger kids, and not for the age group they say it is. But it is very cuddely. (plus who could not think that this toy isn't cute.) But I guess it the only thing it could teach is that cats purr. So over all it is cute & a little fun. ^_^

3-0 out of 5 stars little bit of fun
I purchased this for my 1 yr old and was a little disappointed. It has balls inside that roll around (supposedly sounds like a purr). My little one really justs laughs at me when I try to get him to play with it.My 6 yr old picked it up this morning and said "I think it's broke, there is something rolling around inside."Not bad for the price I guess.
