2-0 out of 5 stars TOO HARD!!!!!!!!!
This game is way too hard to be fun. Of all the final fantasy games this one is the worst. The PS1 version is a lot better and not has hard as finding this one. Which is long out of print.

4-0 out of 5 stars The First of Many to Come!
Not many people probably remember or have even played this one, but it was the 1st of a fabulous series to come. The graphics and music were pretty basic, but the gameplay was pretty fun and it was cool that the characters changed their look after you returned the crystal to the dragon king.It was a slow game to start with, but as you played more, it got more interesting. They possibly could've made it a bit better, but all in all it was a good game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stunning, here's why:
Final Fantasy has over the years becomed a legend.
And here's where it started, I will rate this game:

    Story 3.5/5.0
The worlds been shrouded in darkness, all life has been reduced the winds has stopped and the sea's gone and all fauna has faded into darkness. But the legends tells of four warrior legends that will arise to save the world from perish.
Great story, don't ya' think so ? simple but fantastic.

    Music 4.5/5.0
Some of the best of all of the early games, it's unique and memorable each and everything has gotten a theme (at least in the PSX version). As I said it's fantastic and memorable, the music has also becomed one of the Final Fantasy trademarks.
Remember the legendary score from Final Fantasy VII? outstanding, no game series has caught my attention as the Final Fantasy series have, bless the composer.

    Graphics 3.0/5.0
It's not fair to review the graphics as they're obviously dated, But there has been added some beautiful affects in PSX version, such as the spells and the characters has also been improved by far, good graphics and stunning affects.
But don't dissmiss this game by it's graphics, give it a try.
Remember it's classic and a very rare gem.

    Gameplay 5.0/5.0
The best part, you get to choose who you want to make it through with, your choice is: Black Mage, White Mage, Red Mage, Warrior, Monk and Thief. Here's a list of the best combination you could possibly choose, here I go:
    Knight/Knight/Black Mage/White Mage.

Strong defense and strong offense, the wariors are strong and has alot of HP and high Evasion rade and when classes changes it evolves into a Knight which can learn low White magic spells. Such as Cure2. And the White Mage stands for the healing and the black male stands for the highly effective black magis spells, make sure to get these: Flare, Haste, Ice3. I also recommend this party: Warrior/ Warrior/ Monk/ Red Mage. This is perhaps the best team you can get.Highly effective.

    Final Score 16/20
That's all for now. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A rare, classic masterpiece.
Final Fantasy III [known as VI to some] is a timeless classic. They had this game on display at a used game store, but not for sale. But eventually they decided to sell it for only 25$! I snatched it, knowing all the great things I heard about this game.

Gameplay:10/10: It's an RPG. Duh. But this one is so fun! The battle system is pretty simple, but boy, it rocks. Each character has a unique battle feature. The game has lots of secrets, so keep your eyes peeled! Also, this game is LONG! It took me about 40 hours to beat, as long as it took for VII and VIII.

Graphics:10/10: Very well done for a 1994 game. The only better graphics in 1994 was Donkey Kong Country.

Music/Sound:10/10: FF games are known for awesome music. Same here. The music is well done.

Story:9/10: The story is pretty simple for a FF game, but deep. Even though some parts seem to be taken from Star Wars.

Overall, a classic RPG. If you have an SNES, it's a must have. If you don't, it's been remade for Playstation, but with slow loading times. Now, it's time to play IX.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best RPG ever made
Final Fantasy VI (III in the US) is considered by many to be the best RPG ever made. It is a very deep game, and will provide countless hours of fun. It is one of my personal favorites in the RPG genre. I highly recommend this game, and it is worth every penny.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest RPGs, ever
Final Fantasy 2 was the second FF game to be released in America, but even today it is one of the greatest games I have ever played.

Graphics- 9/10 Back when it first came out, and when I first rented it on the SNES, I remember the graphics looking pretty good for its time. Still, I wasn't blown away, but the battle graphics, and the overworld graphics were amazing. It didn't quite have the charm of Zelda- Link To The Past, but considering the size of this game and its release date, the graphics were very good.

Music- 10/10 Okay, this is where this game shines. Without a doubt, this game has the best music I have ever heard in an RPG. Every SNES FF title had great music (including 5, which was originally only released in Japan, but can be picked up with FF Anthology), and this game started that trend. The battle music is amazing, literally. But it doesn't stop there, the boss music is even better. In fact, I am willing to say that FF2/4 has the best boss music ever out of ANY video game. You will have it stuck in your head for years. In fact, Super Mario RPG for SNES has a hidden boss that has the same music theme as FF2/4. I think FF Mystic Quest was my first FF game, but FF2 was the first one to really get me into the series, and the music sure helped.

Gameplay- 10/10 the battle system is flawless, and the level-up to gain magic system is one of my favorites. I just love battling in order to gain abilities, it just feels so old-school. All in all, all of the gameplay elements are flawless, and the story is great. You also get to go to the moon in this game, which is very fun, and not many RPGs offer something like that. Although this game is also available on FF Chronicles, I would recommend buying the SNES version, even if it has translation issues. I think the SNES version is better because it loads faster (mainly on the saving and loading data screens), it has a more old-school feeling, and just because it's SNES. SNES is the greatest system ever and I think every game originally for the SNES is 10 times better for its original system, even if it costs 20 more dollars, but it is well worth it.

Overall- 10/10 This is a pretty old game (okay, it's very old), but it is one of the greatest games ever made. Overall, FF3/6 is slightly more enjoyable, and is a little better, but FF4 is still in my top three for greatest FF games, and probably in my top ten for greatest games ever. It is well worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars My favorite Final Fantasy Game!
Although this game is called Final fantasy 2,in reality it is actually FF4! Anyway,I didnt start playing Final fantasy until just recently (2004)I've owned an NES since 1990 but I never even thought of buying Final Fantasy until I saw a TV show about it on G4TV! Since then,I've played all of the following Final fantasy titles;Final fantasy,Final fantasy II,Final fantasy mystic quest, and Final fantasy I & II dawn of souls. Out of all of them my favorite title was FFII for the SNES,why? Because FFII had the best story and charecters of all of the other Final fantasy titles that I've played so far! Unlike in FF1,you dont choose your players, you just start out as one and meet more from there!

The Heros: Cecil the dark knight,Rosa the white mage,Kain the dragoon,Cid the warrior,Yang the blackbelt,Rydia the summoner, taila the blk wizard,Edge the ninja, and Fusoya the sage.

The Villans: Golbez the dark knight,4 Elemental demons,a brain-washed Kain, and a slew of other enemys each more sinister then the last!

The story gets better and better as the story progresses! I wont spoil it for you,but one of the coolest moments in the game is when Cecil discovers that Golbez, the most fearsom fiend in the game is not the one behind all of the chaos! Plus,Golbez's true identity is revealed! (No,he's not Cecil's father.) All and all this is my favorite Final fantasy so far,I highly recomend buying it! BUT BE WARNED! Final fantasy I & II dawn of souls does not include this title! So if you want to play this and FF1 you'll have to buy them both! For more details read my Review on Final fantasy I & II dawn of souls. ENJOY!Written by,

5-0 out of 5 stars Actually, it's Final Fantasy IV!
One of Squaresoft's finest RPGs in the popular FF game series, Final Fantasy IV (mistakingly named FFII here in the U.S. back in 1991) is a classic installment and also the first FF to be released on the SNES. How can we all forget the epic storyline, the unforgettable characters, or the beautiful soundtrack composed by Nobou Umetsu? (Who also did the music for other various FFs) Without doubt, this all brings back memories of when days were just PERFECT!

Although the original English translation for the cartrige is not that good (it makes the characters seem more like cardboard cut-outs at times) it's still a rare classic to own/add to your SNES collection. Obviously, the game contains what later installments to the saga had as well: Summoning, Magic, abilities, and even side quests. Leveling up is also pretty easy to do. Later, you will get to fly two airships (one of them which can drill deep into the ground in order to reach the second world) and go wherever you want, when you want!

The story concerns Cecil Harvey, a dark knight who serves the Kingdom of Barron. However, something strange is happening at Barron, as the King vows to collect all four elemental crystals of the Earth. With the army known as the Red Wings as his resort, Captain Cecil and crew are hired on numerous missions to find all four crystals. But when Cecil is relieved from his post after questioning the King's orders, he is given another mission to deliver a small mysterious package to a small town. With the help of Dragoon knight Kain, the two arrive at the village of mist, where an incredibly destructive power is unleashed upon the village! Realizing his mistake in trusting his majesty, Cecil vows to return to Barron and seek vengeance against the King.

However, with a mysterious knight known as Golbeze on their trail, it'll be no walk in the park. This villain also shares some kind of connection with Cecil. What could it be, and why does Golbeze seek out the crystals himself? As you progress through the game, you will find out! Cecil's girlfriend, Rosa and many others also joins you in the battle against evil.

OVERALL: 10/10 This is definately on my Top Five list of favorite FF games next to: "Final Fantasy VIII", "Final Fantasy VII", "Final Fantasy VI", and the original "Final Fantasy". If you're a longtime, diehard fan of the series as I am, and would NOT prefer the new stupidly pathetic installments such as "Final Fantasy X-2", then I HIGHLY reccomend this! The classics are always the best! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars IS THIS SOME KIND OF JOKE?????
I am a huge final fantasy fan. But this is just dumb.

Basiclly its a final fantasy ripping of legend of zelda. What were they smokeing when they came out with this!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Mystic Quest just about sums up the game
This was one of my top five video games. I really like this game for so many reasons:

The first reason that I like this game is that you have actual head to head battles with the enemies you fight, unlike any Zelda or Mario or any other games along those lines. You actually see your enemy face to face, and it makes the fighting for the game more interesting.

Speaking of the fighting, it's not terribly gruesome and horrible. You can use a bunch of weapons, but other than made the looks of explosion or a sword that goes in front of the enemy that's about it when it comes to the 'violent' graffics. That was a good plus for me.

Graffically wise, it's not as great as some other more popular games, but it still has an amazing overworld to it. There's neat features that unlock as you play through the game, such as the forests will return green and water will appear. The head-to-head battle scenes are superb, for not only do you see the enemy face on, but you will see their weakened state as you get closer to defeating them.

Challenge-wise, it's about medium level. You won't have to use a cheat book, yet it's not so boring that you'll beat it in a few hours. Took me a couple of weeks to beat this game, and once I did I had the pleasure of going through it many times afterward.

This game has INCREDIBLE music! Out of all of the games with music, I especially enjoyed the music on this game. The ending songs with the final boss, and the area where the final boss is has incredible music. Simply put, it doesn't get any better with that.

As I played through this game, I was really taken on a quest. I'd suggest getting this video game for yourself and trying it out! What an amazing game!

1-0 out of 5 stars I turned it off once I found out you can jump...

4-0 out of 5 stars a lot of fun, the first entry in the Mana series
The first thing to mention is that Final Fantasy Adventure is really part of the Mana series (Secret of Mana, Legend of Mana). This is, I believe, the first game in the series with the sequel being the excellent Secret of Mana for the SNES.I suspect that the reason for the name change is simply that Square thought that the Final Fantasy name would sell more copies when released in America. This is an adventure RPG.

Final Fantasy Adventure is similar to a Zelda game in that you control a character from the top down and wander around whacking enemies with your weapon (you get different weapons throughout the game). You must get clues to find where the next place to go is and what the next piece of the storyline is.It is as simple as finding and rescuing the princess, but is deeper than that with side story and the Mana Tree.Like other Mana games you do end up at the tree of Mana after a long adventure. When I first played this for the Gameboy I was about 12 years old (or so) and I loved it.This game was a lot of fun and exploring that world was at times a small challenge but overall was just a blast. It really isn't part of the Final Fantasy series (though you will see chocobos), but this is worth playing for fans of the Mana series as well as any who like old school games.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best pre-advance, portable RPG available
I can't tell you how much I loved this game when I first played it years ago.The gameplay is addictive, the storyline is engaging, the puzzles and battles are moderately challenging, and the graphics are not so old that they are off-putting.This is a traditional maiden-in-distress adventure story with swords and magic, and was originally part of the Mana series (billed in the US as Final Fantasy to boost sales).A guide or FAQ may be useful to make sure you get all the secrets, but the game should not take anyone too long to beat.It does not meet the high standards of graphics, sound, and story that GBA games like Golden Sun are setting, but for nostalgic, "old school" gameplay this game can't be beat.Buy it if you can find it, and play the hell out of it.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's good all around.
I love this game for a few reasons.

    1. Storyline is AWSOME
    2. Regular GB games are more fun than color ones because you can imagine your own colors for the game, making the gameplay more interesting.
    3. My brother beat the game, and guided me when I needed help
    4. It's a good classic, and I wish they made the whole FF series on gameboy and others
    5. It is so surprising! I am so tensed out while playing aginst bosses that pop out of nowhere
    6. It is a traditional Saving the "Princess" game
    7. Sure it is old. Old games rock, and since not many people play it anymore, it takes it to a bigger challenge
    8. I can play it anywhere with my gameboy ;)

I don't think anyone should hate this great game, so go and buy it! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay.... I guess....
I bought this game because I thought it was FF.But its not!It actually SaGa or SagGe or something.

Gameplay:3.5/5, The gameplay gets slow and often repetitive.Weapons don't do much.Evolving monsters and mutants in the party are wayyyy better than standard humans (unbalanced).

Plot:2/5, There's a plot!?!WOW!The plot is so corny I didn't realize it was their! The dialogue is short and choppy, and it often doesn't make sense.

    Graphics:4/5, Good for its age!

Replay:4/5, Like any RPG, it has replay value.

Ingenuity:2/5, Not much new here, except for the "monsters evolve when they eat enemies meat" concept.

Overall:15.5/20, Average, if its really cheap, check it out.

2-0 out of 5 stars Despite nostalgia, still a poor game
There is no doubt that Final Fantasy Legend (SaGa in Japan, billed as Final Fantasy in the United States to boost sales) was a highly advanced game for its time (1989).However, it offers nothing that its sequel doesn't offer, and the game is, shall we say, very poor. Not having the advantage of color that its contemporaries (Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy) had, the graphics are so poor that they were actually bad in 1989, which says a lot.The story is about as simplistic as they come, and you should be able to beat this game in a few hours no problem.Considering its limited availability now, I doubt anyone will really want to play this game - trust me, you aren't missing anything. My fellow "old school" RPG players will call me a heretic, but this game has nothing memorable to offer.Skip it.

    3-0 out of 5 stars 3-and-a-half-stars; nostalgia
Final Fantasy Legend III (part of the Saga series in Japan, billed as Final Fantasy in the U.S. to boost sales) is actually a decent game, despite dated Mode-7 graphics and cheesy pre-GBA sounds. It's a standard 4-person-party RPG that requires some tedious leveling, equipment upgrades, and several quests across a variety of settings. The storyline had a lot of potential, and while incomplete at parts, should leave you satisfied at the end.

Why the high rating for this ancient game? The game brings back a lot of memories of the old days.Is it worth playing now?If you own the game but never managed to play it, I suggest you do.If you can get a good used price, pick it up.Some of the tunes are catchy, and the gameplay is pretty smooth. Also, if you can't be bothered to upgrade your portable system to a Game Boy Advance, this is one of the best RPGs available on the Game Boy.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best Game Boy RPG's...
With the exception of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Final Fantasy Legends 2 and 3 were the best pre-Advance Game Boy RPGs ever made. The battle systems for both were slightly different from their big-screen brethren (especially as they were not technically FF games, but SaGa), but FF Legend 3 is fairly recognizable: Fight, Magic, and Item are all in place (though spells are bought and learned). Unlike in Legends 2 and 3, weapons are unbreakable and magic is used with MPs, not consumable items.
This is the first FF Legend game to feature characters with given names. The plot is also more cohesive, as progress is no longer from world to world but to different parts of the same world. In addition, the airship is the coolest airship of all of the Final Fantasy games; it attacks enemies, sells items, travels through various planes of existence, provides free healing, and more.
Graphics, music, and length are all extremely impressive given the game's age (released in 1990), and still largely hold up on the strength of the gameplay. Sunsoft's rerelease ensured the game's continuing availability, though it won't last forever; both this game and Legend 2 (as well as Legend 1, though it is weaker) are strongly recommended to console FF players searching for more proofs of SquareSoft's brilliance.
Final Fantasy Adventure, actually in the Secret of Mana series rather than FF, resembles a Zelda game. It is also recommended, but very different from the Legend series.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good
It was a good game but a bit short for fans of Final Fantasy.Really it isn't even a FF game at all it is a different RPG but dubbed as being a FF game as it was in the US.I like to think of it as short but sweet. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

The enormous Playstation console smash hit Final Fantasy VII makes a successful debut on the personal computer, converted beautifully by designers Squaresoft and Eidos Interactive. Gamers familiar with Squaresoft's popular Final Fantasy series should have little trouble grasping the seventh title's action-packed, role-playing game play. However, Final Fantasy VII's excellent documentation and intuitive controls ensure that beginners won't feel overwhelmed.

Players assume the role of Cloud Strife, a defector of Shinra, the evil corporation maintaining control over the planet. As the game opens, Cloud joins "Avalanche," a resistance group determined to foil the corporation's diabolical plans. Final Fantasy VII features an extremely complex story line, offering many hours of game play (over 60 minutes of impressive cinematic sequences are also included).

Final Fantasy VII's game play involves exploration, puzzle solving, and real-time combat. Players control Cloud during exploration and take on additional party members for battle sequences, which include both fantastic weaponry and dazzling spells. While the graphics are top-notch--and support 3-D hardware accelerators to sharpen the character models--the sound effects won't impress many; Squaresoft made little effort to utilize a personal computer's sophisticated sound card to its potential.

Although deeply rooted in the limitations of the Playstation console (limited menu system, weak music, no voice-overs), Final Fantasy VII's highly addictive, easy-to-learn game play should provide adventure and role-playing fans many hours of enjoyment. --Doug Radcliffe

I think it most fantastic game. Not so complex system and yet we can feel sympathy for the humanistic story. Hero and heroines put a question about "human love" to us, and it is in form of gaming, which even children can easily enjoy. So this is a new attempt in gaming industry.

I started buying these Namco museum collections with the Vol. series for PS1. As ever, arcade authentic ports of all those great games from the single screen days. A real buzz to relive all the old memories without having to drop in all those quarters!

don't let the back of the box trick ya into thinking you are getting 10 classics and 3 new totaling 13 games it is 12 games 2unlockable games are realy additional levels to pac-man games but still fun. you get more if you buy the 3 seperate ps1 game volumes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dangerously Addicting
Now you do not have to go to a dive bar or an airport arcade lounge to play your favorite 80s video games.I can still remember when PacMan was the talk of the town and you had to fight to get on a machine. This NAMCO compilation is good and will keep you andyour guests entertained for hours upon hours of good clean fun.Where else canyou get good clean fun these days?At the supermarket?I do not think so.The Ms.Pac Man segment is enough to keep you busy for days just trying to beat the game.Pole Position just is not Grand Tourismo, but it is still fun to blow up every time you touch a sign post. You will be happy you bought this game to take you back to the 80's.

5-0 out of 5 stars No school like the old school
This was the first of a series of five PS games that showcased arcade classics from Namco, best known for Pac-Man. This one of course contains the original Pac-Man, along with:

      Bosconian
      Toypop
      Rally-X
      New Rally-X
      Pole Position
      Galaga

Each of the games you see here are presented in complete form, the way they were in the arcades, right down to the startup sequence. I mean, the flashing of objects randomly when you start playing. Namco put wonderful effort into these games, and proved once and for all that there's (see review title)!

4-0 out of 5 stars The great Namco games do come in 1 package!
      Alright, let's break it down:

Pac-Man: Still the best character on this side of the planet.

Galaga: The best damn shoot-'em-up game in the known universe.

Pole Position: Um, Hello? Where's the prepare to qualify voice sounder?

Bosconian: Sinistar on a killing spree (Just without the Sinistar) And it features great voicing and classy music.

Rally-X: Great game, but the music is somewhat stuck in your head and it's a two-note wonder.

New Rally-X: better music, better gameplay

Toypop: Very quirky music and very weird animation.

Now on the rest, the room to the game's music is a new rendition that gives birth to the phrase: "remix." Plus, the game rooms are eye-popping and the museum space is rendering and excellent! I love this game!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not quite like the old....
These games are great, but the playability is not quite like the arcade standup models. For some reason, there seems to be a slight hesitation when making some of the quick corners in Ms Pac-man and Dig Dug. Also, Pole Position plays differently without the wheel. Still, the games are exactly as they were years ago. The sames tendencies I remember on Galaga come alive in the Playstation version. These are exact replicas of the originals that helped start it all. ... Read more

Nothing lends itself better to portable gaming than the arcadeclassics. They're addictive, replayable, and fun--plus it's nice not tohave to pump endless streams of quarters into them. That's what makesNamco Museum such a must-have title for the Game Boy Advancesystem. People too young, or too impatient, to enjoy a good coin-op hadbetter stop reading now.

Like the PlayStation and N64 versions, Namco has packed a few of itsbest games onto the cartridge. For the GBA we get only five titles(four are listed on the front of the box, but Galaxian is alsoincluded). We have two versions of Ms. Pac-Man (one that showsthe whole maze but is dreadfully small, and another that scrolls),Galaga, Pole Position, and Dig Dug. They arelovingly ported, complete with all the music and sound effects intact. What we don't get is the amusing Museum portion and trivia found onother versions.

Ms. Pac-Man and Galaga are the real winners here. Bothare perfect renditions complete with all the extras (music, colors, sound effects, and bonus stages/cartoons). The controls on these twoare also perfect. Pole Position is amusing, but features twitchycontrols and pales in comparison to other GBA racing games.Galaxian, on the surface, seems the same as its sequel,Galaga, but it isn't. The fire rate is much slower, so the paceof the game is different. Galaga is certainly better, butGalaxian is a nice addition regardless. Dig Dug is aclassic, pure and simple, and it still plays well. It rounds out thecollection nicely.

Arcade fans, especially those who used to line up (or line theirquarters on the machine) to play these games, will be very pleased withNamco Museum. Those unimpressed with retro gaming probably won'tbe converted. However, here's hoping we see more arcade classics in thefuture, because I can't think of a better platform for these than theGame Boy Advance. --Andrew S. Bub

      Pros:

      • Perfect recreations of arcade classics
      • A nice, diverse slate of games
      • Nice of them to include two versions of Ms. Pac-Man

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun,and a good game to start out with
The game is only $15 so if you do buy it, its not like your spending $30 for a game you wont like. I thought this game was really enjoyable, although i have played many games with far superior quality. The games are all pretty interesting and they all have their flaws, but when i learned that these games were invented so long ago, i cut them a little slack.I didnt "grow up" playing these games so its not a walk down memory lane for me, but they are still fun games. This was also the first game i got for gba and personaly i think its a good game to start out on, because the games are simple and easy to follow and the controls are relativly easy. Its especially good for kids who are not quite ready for hard and in-depth games yet.i also like the fact that its not just one classic game but 5.Pacman is my favorite game, but its a little hard to beat. There are two things that really get on my nerves about this game, one-you cant save any high scores,so there is absolutely nothing to beat in this game, and two-in galaga the screen is only half the size of the gameboy screen, they could have put the scores at the top and had the screen be double the size that it is.but overall this game is very fun when you just want a little something to keep you entertained.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nameco Museum
I bought this game thinking it was a cheap game. When i played it it brought memories of the arcade up-rites that they had at the Pavilion in Myrtle Beach in my younger days. The Ms Pac-Man was the best and Dig Dug was also. The other 3 games i plade on the arcades and on the artari 2600. This is quiet a bit of nastalgia. Hours of FUN and ENJOYMENY at a very reasonable price. Check out the other games that i have rated Donkey Kong Country 2 , Legend of Zelda. ALL ARE GOOD....ENJOY

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite videogame!!!
I would like to start off saying that I am not a huge fan of videogames. I do not own an X-Box or Gamecube and find most games to be boring. However, I still have a Nintendo 64 system from back when I was younger. Out of the few games that I own, Namco Museum 64 is my favorite game. I was born back in a time when Atari was making it big and games like Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Dig-Dug were the hottest games around. Playing Namco Museum deffinately brings back memories. The selection of games is great. You get to choose from - Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Dig-Dug, Pole Position, Galaga, and Galaxian. All the games are exactly like they were on the Atari gamesystem. Each game is extremely fun and challenging. In fact, I would even go as far as calling this game addicting.

Nintendo 64 has pretty much become obsolete today with X-Box and Gamecube. However, if you are not into the videogames that are around today, and are longing to play games from the 80's, then you should definately buy this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Collection of Games from years past
      Hi all,

Knowing this collection of Namco games was rather rare, I was fortunate to find this game on Amazon being sold by someone for a VERY reasonable price.

The collection is a trip back in time for all including the games: Super Pac-Man, Xevious, Mappy, Grobda, Dragon Buster, and Gaplus.

My personal favorites are Super Pac-Man, Gaplus and Mappy (three well known games).Xevious should be fairly well known as well though I am not sure of Grobda and Dragon Buster.I personally have never heard of them before seeing this collection.

Super Pac-Man, Gaplus, Mappy and Xevious are basically the original arcade versions and play like it.The other two, as I am unfamiliar with them, are more difficult to rate, though they ARE decent games to play.

The one negative with this collection is the relatively slow load times between switching games. One annoying thing (and not the fault of the game) is the inability of the game to use the PS2 analog controller forcing me to use the directional controls.

But the game is still worth a buy if you can track it down!

5-0 out of 5 stars Namco does it again! again!
Bringing out another 6 titles, Namco continues its 5 CD roll (N-A-M-C-O).Super Pac-Man plays almost exactly like the arcade version, right down to thedipswitch settings.[I owned the arcade game itself for 6 months, so I know what I'm talking about here.]Mappy is a cute little game about a mouse trying to recover department-store style items from a group of cats.Xevious is mostly a plane/war style game that uses overhead bombs as its main strategy.Grobda, its sequel, deals with the "enemy" tank (the one you have to blow up in Xevious); it's now your ally against fortified enemy arsenals.Gaplus is the 3rd & final installment in the Galaxian trilogy (that game is in Volume 3)...this time, you can actually capture the enemy (up to 5) with a special item and use them against themselves!Dragon Buster, one of the first RPGs, is the classic save-the-princess story retold in arcade form.If you like classic video games, you should definitely check this one out!

3-0 out of 5 stars Super Pac Man not the only hit
This is volume 2 of the five volume set of Namco arcade classics. It includes: Super Pac Man, Xeviuos, Mappy, Gaplus, Grobda, and Dragon Buster.Super Pac-Man is the best of these for those that remember it.Xevious was a great space based shoot-em-up that can be very addictive. However, Grobda was the worst of this lot, just another dungeon crawl with unappealing graphics. If you can find a copy, it might be worth a play or two to relive the classics, especially Super Pac-Man.However, it is =very= hard to get and considered collectible. ... Editorial Review

From the makers of Soul Calibur comes a tour of the ancient days of gaming. For those who remember Ms. Pac-Man and Atari, for those who loved Dig-Dug, and those of you who spent way too many quarters on Galaxian, this little treasure is for you.

While it does contain some forgettable titles such as Phozon, a deadly boring puzzle game, and the Tower of Druaga, a sad, sad attempt at a top-down role-playing game, Namco Museum Vol. 3 is worth its price for the addictive classics alone. Pole Position II is also included, and, unlike modern racing games where you can knock opposing racers out of the way with a quick side swipe, Pole Position II's car explodes at the slightest contact. This was too much of a habit to break, but the nostalgia alone can be worth the effort.

Although this is a fun trip into video game history, younger gamers could be bored due to the low-tech nature of the package. But parents of the new video game generation should feel free to plug this into their child's PlayStation and say aloud, "When I was your age..." --Allen Stewart

      Pros:

      • Memorable classics such as Ms. Pac-Man, Galaxian, and Dig-Dug
      • A save high scores function
      • The classics are still really addictive and fun

5-0 out of 5 stars You Know You Grew Up In the 1980s If . . .
This collection of games from Namco is a blast from the past for anyone who grew up playing video games at home on Atari or who spent their entire life savings at the arcades. The games included on this collection are:"Ms. Pac Man", "Dig Dug", "Galaxion", "Phozon", "Pole Position II", and "Tower Of Druaga".For those who don't own a PS2, NAMCO MUSEUM VOL. 3 is worth owning because of "Ms. Pac Man", "Dig Dug", and "Galaxion".

"Ms. Pac Man" is just as fun to play as the original "Pac Man" but is just slightly more difficult and gives a more continues the "story" begun in "Pac Man".

"Dig Dug" is one of the classic arcade games of the 80s.The game seems easy enough to play (dig your way through dirt, kill monsters before they kill you, and collect vegetables). However, the game becomes increasingly difficult as you progress and before you know it your running away more than you are shooting at monsters because there's just too many of them.

"Galaxion" is another arcade classic. It takes the premise of "Space Invaders" one step further so that instead of defending a planetary base from destruction and invasion, you're in space trying to destroy an enemy fleet before they blow you up.In "Space Invaders" you could hide your gun behind turrets, but there is no place to hide in "Galaxion."

The other three games on the collection are fairly forgettable and were somewhat obscure in the day."Phozon" is a type of puzzle game where you try to match up the phozons with the pattern without getting blown to bits."Pole Position II" is a racing game where you blow up if you get too far off course or run into items. In that sense its realistic. However, the game is extremely difficult to play because the analog component of the paddle isn't compatible and you don't have a joystick so you're forced to drive your car using the directional buttons. What a pain."Tower of Druaga" is the final game on the collection. It involves trying to get Gil to climb through all the levels of the Tower. It's kind of like an early video game version of role playing. It's kind of interesting, but it takes an incredibly long amount of time to defeat.

Overall, this is a great collection for anyone who grew up playing video games in the 80s.For those who are too young to remember Atari, the game is nice to play because of its retro and anything retro is cool.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic fun!

man that Pac-Land game is fun at parties you get a bunch of stupid college kids together and those magic boots that make pac-man fly acroos the screen are the coolest things on the face of this earth this game wasn't all that great other then pac-land which wasn't all that great but it is worth while to have

4-0 out of 5 stars Fourth time is a charm?
I see a lot to talk about for this one.Pac-Land is based on the old TV cartoon; this side-scroller gives Pac-Man a body and you guide him through "Fairy Land" avoiding ghosts [some in hovercrafts, airplanes, and pogo sticks!] and collecting fruits, in various landscapes (ex.--town, peaks & valleys, desert, poolside, brick house, forest, waterspout).Try to find the blue cap (usually at the start of each Trip), the secret "invisibility" cactus/hydrant (usually at the 3rd of each Trip), the 7650 point bonus balloon (in the 4th stage of each Trip) and the Galaxian bird, also worth 7650 points (appears at random). And of course the energizers to turn the tables on those ghosts; depending on how many are on the screen, each blue ghost is worth from 200 to 7650 points in succession!Just about the only thing missing is Chomp-Chomp and Sourpuss; they appeared at the end of each Trip in the arcade game. The Genji and the Heike clans is based on an actual historical figure, and though it may scare some players off, is quite interesting.I think Assault qualifies as the first tank game set on a multi-layered planet in outer space...there are three different versions of Assault on this disc (if you look hard enough!).In Ordyne, you control Dr. Tomari, an inventor whose atomic converter and girlfriend were stolen, and you go after the culprit in an airplane (with a second player, Felix, at the same time if you wish) while fighting some weird-looking creatures.I didn't care much for the Return of Ishtar. If you go to the Theatre room in the Museum, you can hear PicPac, the robot band, play an instrumental song or two (with background "video" graphics!)...the same songs (with or without Japanese lyrics) can be played from the Music selector inside the Theatre room.Like the other discs, this one features history, pictures of game-based items, and classic NG magazine covers. There's also a built-in ranking system on each game if you use your memory card.Highly recommended for those who remember arcade life at its first peak.Enjoy thoroughly.

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice to find an old game, Too hard to control.
Back when I was about 6 or 7, I played the arcade version of Pac-Land. I bought this collection of 5 games, just to get the 1 game. I must say that I was disappointed. The controls for the game are terrible and it just makes it too hard to control. Where's the fun in a game if you can't control it? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Conclusion of the Namco series for the PS!
The focus here is on Pac-Mania.I still get a kick out of it.You cannot sign your name as with the Atari arcade version, but there are extra levels (and MORE SCORE!) to be had.Baraduke is an interesting romp about a group of space beings that are captured...of course you have to rescue them.Metro-Cross is a quick-paced race against time, soda cans (BURP!), and other things that get in your way.I don't care much for Valkyrie and Dragon Spirit. You can also view a piece of opera in the Theatre room, performed by the Pac-couple.Buy this CD; Pac-Mania alone is worth the cost.

      3-0 out of 5 stars Pac-Maniacs only
The last of the five in Namco's series - it includes: Pac-Mania,Dragon Spirit, Metro-Cross, Baraduke, and Legend of Valkyrie.Except for Pac-Mania, a wonderful early version of a 3-D world for Pac-Man to adventure in, the remaining titles on this disc are unappetizing at best, and generally boring at worst. The strange overhead perspective of Dragon Spirit will throw off some players.Legend of Valkyrie was an early attempt at a RPG and is laughable by today's standards. Some of the rest I had never heard of until trying this disc.I have a copy just for the Pac-Mania game, but the rest I rarely play, and it mostly sits unused in the box.Not a fitting conclusion for this series. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Half decent at best
Anyone who remembers the original series of Namco Museum compilations that first came out for the PS1 years ago remembers one of the best parts was the Museum feature itself in full 3-D where you ran around as Pac-Man selecting what game you wanted to play. All the DC version has is a select menu.Thats it.You'd figure with the space left over on the disc itself that Namco would port over a few other retro games, but no.Not to mention the emulator used to port the games was very poor, and the sound is god awful (much like with the compilation Sega Smash Pack also for the DC) and your only option will be to mute the volume. All in all, if you loved playing these old games and still have a DC this is worth a look, but others should run in the opposite direction.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!
Maybe the best $20 i've spent in my life. I love retro arcade games, and game i found sitting in the kohl's department store and i immediatley bought it. The graphics are low (duh) but it is still great. There are so many good games; my favorite is Galaga Arrangement, a new version of Galaga with better graphics and more power-ups. BUY IT!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars The video games we used to play as kids....
My 9 year old son received a GameCube for Christmas and the 2 games he received were WaveRunner and Luigi's Mansion. Both of those games he liked, however I have motion sickness bad and cannot play alot of the games they have out now because of all the movement. I specifically bought this Namco Museum for me and guess what everybody loves it! It is great to be able to show my son some of the older games we used to play as kids. I just wish it had Centipede on it..That would be great. Enjoy all you Pacman and Galaga fans....

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent.I highly recommend!
I remember when Galaga came out in the arcades. There were lines of people waiting to play it including me.This Namco collection is arcade perfect. I also LOVE the revamped versions of Pacman and Galaga. They are incredibly good in my opinion and highly addictive. This was the best $20 for the Cube that I have spent. Some people complain that the screen is small, but hey! The original Galaga was on a small horizontal screen as well, and the 25" monitors of today were unheard of.To me it just makes the game that much more perfect.I had a 10 yr old recommend this game to me!I couldn't believe it, he was not even alive when it originally came out and he said next to Smash Bro's, this was his second favorite game. 20 yrs and still kicking. GO AND BYE IT.Can't beat it for $20. ... Read more
