    Pirate Ship
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
    Toy

US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

Splice the main brace! This is a plastic pirate ship for toddlers that's durable enough to survivethe toddler years, and interesting enough to be a vehicle for fantasy play for years after. At 2-feet long andalmost as high at its twin masts, this ship rides the waves (or rugs) on three concealed wheels. Carrying anornery-looking crew of bearded and eye-patched ne'er-do-wells, it also has an oversized cannon that popsout of the hold and fires plastic balls the size of a golf ball. There's a small dinghy with its ownspring-loaded harpoon, and the back of the quarterdeck opens for access to the captain's cabin. --RichardFarr ... Read more

    5-0 out of 5 stars Ahoy Matey's!
This toy has been a fantastic addition to our son's imagination. He received this for Christmas 2001, and plays with it almost every day. I have not been able to find any "new" additional pieces for this, but have managed to find a few "used" pieces. One is a raft with a shark on it, and has a barrel launching apparatus at the back. The other is a whale / raft that looks like the whale from Pinocchio. Both these items I remember from a long time ago (my brothers and sisters had these toys way back when), and I was pleasantly surprised to find these at a 2nd hand toy store. If you are interested in pieces to go with the pirate ship, check out some of the used toy stores in your area.

The one thing that I find a bit frustrating is that the side rigging fastened to the mast always pops out. I have been tempted to glue it on so that it stays. The pivoting door on the transom (where the captain's quarters are) can come off easily too. But, I think these things bother me more than our son. He will stop his play to pop them all back together, then carry on to find the treasure or just sail the seven seas!

    4-0 out of 5 stars Great boat...just doesn't float
Our 3 1/2 year old Peter Pan-obsessed son had been asking for a pirate ship for months. After lots of research, I selected this pirate ship.He loves this ship!It is durable, and the pieces are sturdy enough to survive his rough play. The firing cannon and harpoon are particular delights. However, he was initially very disappointed that neither the boat or the rowboat actually float.(They capsize immediately upon contact with the bath.)So although he loves his land ship, he does periodically say that he wishes it could float in the tub.So just be aware of this if you purchase this toy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ahoy, this toy is IT!
My four-year old son received the pirate ship as a Christmas gift.It is now 7 months later and he has literally played with this toy every day we've been home since receiving it.It is well-built & durable and both of our boys (4 & 2 1/2) have immensely enjoyed it.It has allowed them to use their imagination and pretend with all of the little pieces accompanying it.It is the toy played with most often when other kids come over to our house and all of the parents want to know where I bought it.Clever parts including a canon, gangplank, sails, crow's nest, nets, sails and little dinghy with a harpoon attached. My boys love to manipulate the parts, strip it down and put it all back together.Good value for your money.I wish, as others have stated, that it had accompanying items to purchase ... Connecting Bridge
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
    Toy

US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

There's an unwritten rule when it comes to toys: the more plastic pieces theparent must assemble, the less fun the child will have. The Ball Party series from Tomy happily defies that rule. It takes alittle effort to set up, but there's a lot of payoff. The Ball PartyConnecting Bridge is a series of bridges that connect onetower to another. You send a set of ten balls (about the size ofPing-Pong balls) through the towers and down the bridges, where theyclatter along. It's sort of like a highly simplifiedgame of pachinko. The Ball Party series is designed for toddlers togoggle at, but older kids seem eager to turn it into a competition andget noisy fun out of it. --Claire Dederer ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great toy
We bought this when my 6 yr old was a year, she still plays with it(and her 6 yr old friends too) and so does her 2 yr old sister! My hubby and I even love this toy, its very versital especially if you have the other tomy toys you can interchange it with (we have 4 tomy ball party toys). This is one of the best toys we have ever bought.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not safe enough for 1 year old
My 13 month old son leaned against it to drop a ball in the
top and it collapsed under his weight leaving a nasty
scrape and bruise on his face.

5-0 out of 5 stars Join the Ball Party!
This is a great toy.No gimmicks- just colorful balls winding their way down a series of fun connecting bridges. The route is made even funner by assorted bumps and steps to keep the balls on their toes!Little ones love watching the balls go- its a great way for them to learn cause and effect. It's addicting even for parents (I'm happy to see I'm not the only parent who enjoys a little "speed rolling")My favorite is trying to get all 10 balls going before the first makes its way to the bottom. One thing- the whole setup is a little tall- If your little person isn't steady on his feet yet, it can be hard to reach up from sitting to put a ball in the top (though you can shorten the setup by leaving out a bridge). Comes with ten balls but no secure way of storing them (in a month we have already lost two.)They do sell a pick up tube and extra balls. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Vacation Camper!
I think that the vacation camper is a great toy to open up children's minds. They enjoy playing with the boat and putting the kid in her room in the top of the camper. I have the toy and it is my favorite loving family item. I overall think that the toy is great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!
When i was little, i used to LOVE Fisher Price. It was my favorite. I used to have a dollhouse too. But, onto this toy: This is GREAT!! It was soo much fun to play with, but then i had to give it away cause i was too old. I am now 12. I still enjoy dolls, but now more mature ones like Bratz and My Scene.
I could right more, but i am very busy. Happy Holidays everyone!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun, hard to find
Ever since it came out of the box for my 2 yr old's b-day this toy has been played with!I can't put it away until the kids go to bed at night, and it's the first thing they take out in the morning. It's a very cute item, probably even more so than the big FP dollhouse we own.The people are cute and easy to bend, and the camper opens up to a very big play area with wonderful detailing. There are no tiny hard to keep pieces, and no batteries either, so no annoying sounds. The only problem I've seen is that the back doesn't always close as tightly as it should, but nothing falls out when it's on the move.If you can find one of these, it's worth whatever you end up paying. ... In Hasbro's Fishin' Around, eight colorful fish swim up, down, and around a stream, wigglingfrom side to side and opening and closing their mouths. Kids take turns picking cards and using theirdifferent-colored fishing poles to hook and catch the fish pictured on the card that they've chosen. The firstplayer to catch three, wins. Two to four preschoolers through first graders can play this motorized musicalfish-catching game without knowing how to read. 4-0 out of 5 stars great birthday gift for 3-6 year olds
My son received this as a gift for his 4th birthday and it was a hit with all the kids there, ages 3-50.
It is one of the rare toys that he still plays with a year later. What I loved about this is that he can play it by himself or with friends. It is very easy and entertaining.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Grandson loves this game!
This game provided at least 45 minutes of enjoyment for my 2- 1/2 year old grandson. The same day, he went back two or more times for "more".We were amazed that it went over so well as it was mfr. recommended for 3 year olds.He had no trouble with catching the fish, but we are waiting to "deal" the cards as he gets older. The music is fun, but it's easier on the ears if it is on the carpet.
We did have to exchange the first game we bought due to gear problems. The second one works just fine.
It's a great game to keep at "Grandma's house" to give him something special to do with us older folks.A Grandma

3-0 out of 5 stars Annoying longer than it is fun....
My kids had this toy when they were younger and I HATED it. They were actually pretty interested in it for the first month. After that it only saw occasional use. What I still remember though is how annoyingly repetitive the music was. At least it was in tune, unlike some musical toys.

The pieces are quite durable (I still find them occasionally) but they are easily separated and scattered, making the set less usable. I don't recommend this toy. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Wizard of Oz Yellow Brick Road Game
It's fun, almost any game is fun but when our family plays games I like them to be more on the educational side.I feel this would be a great game for a 3 year old but it's not very stimulating for my 5 year old.

5-0 out of 5 stars good board game
We got this game when my child was 3 and a very big Wizard of Oz fan.She saw the box and wanted it right away.It looked like she was old enough to play, and she was.The kids count yellow bricks on cards to move spaces, so it teaches counting up to 4. I have been very happy with it and we still play it 2 years later. It is as durable as a board game can be. The pieces are cardboard and ours have been taped for stability.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun for Non-Readers
A fun "first game" for little tykes and non-readers that stays true to the plot of Wizard of Oz. ... Read more

    Rescue Heroes Command Center
Average Customer Review: 5.0 out of 5 stars
    Toy
    list price: $34.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

"Calling all heroes! Code blue! Report to Sector One immediately!" Lights flashing, sirensblaring, the Rescue Heroes race to respond to the crisis. Fisher-Price's Command Center is the crisismanagement nucleus for the RescueHeroes. Towering just over 2 feet tall, its three floors are designed to facilitate a multitude of daringmissions. Accommodations such as a rescue-pole elevator, climbing hooks, and holders for equipmentpacks ensure that operations are carried out smoothly and efficiently. But the best thing about theCommand Center is the control panel on the third floor: there, young heroes can record a five-secondemergency message and play it back attended by a chorus of flashing lights and loud sirens. (Messages canbe rerecorded as often as needed.) Be sure to invest in a couple of the Rescue Heroes to go along with theCommand Center; they're sold separately and not included with this set. Takes about 15 minutes toassemble; requires three AA batteries (not included). --Julie Ubben ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Tower command center a must for rescue hero fans
We bought this toy for our 4 year old who loves the rescue hero figures. We own some of the vehicles like the police cruiser and fire truck and he said that he wanted the command center. He actually wanted the Mountain Command Center that is 2x the price of this one and 3x the size. We purchased this one b/c it was smaller and a fraction of the price and was unsure if this was going to be a short lived fascination. He loves the toy and has not stopped playing with it. The best feature is that you can record your own voice and play it over and over again. What child does not like that?He tells the recorder which mission he is conquering and requests for help from the other rescue heroes and plays it back and it makes him feel important that his voice is announcing the details of the mission. He also loves the elevator that the heroes spiral down from.A definite find especially since it is discontinued and an old item. This toy does not have some of the negatives of the Mountain Command center such as pieces falling off. We have found it very durable so far. Also, it did not take long to put together at all.The instructions were very easy and self explanatory.Enjoy.

3-0 out of 5 stars Voice recorder highly entertaining
Both my four year old and two year old find the voice record feature of the "command centre" highly entertaining. Be aware that an actual rescue hero does not come with the centre - good thing we had one on-hand as a "rainy day" toy. Otherwise, they don't play with it much except for the spiralling tower, which is very cool and holds up pretty good when they are both playing with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Durable!!
I bought this for my older son's 5th birthday. He loves it. I have a 3 year old who loves to take things apart and he can't take this apart!!! They both play with it and have endless fun recording their voices. Their isn't much to it though. I think it could have come with more cool moving parts. Overall, its a good toy and worth the money. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Start your engines! This racetrack has two 15-inch-high, side-by-side starting gates that release two racecars down two spiraling ramps with the push of a lever. As the cars race, they each make three corkscrew turns as they wind their way to the checkered flag. When the cars are finished racing they store securely in recesses on the base of the track. The brightly colored unit is made of sturdy plastic and is topped with an easy-carry handle. The entire 15-by-16-inch unit can be dipped in sudsy water for easy cleaning, and it squares up neatly in a corner for quick storage. --Kathryn Gustafson ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun for 2 year olds
Simple toy, cars launch at the top of spiral and go down speedway.Very durable for toddlers. Good toy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty fun
My one-year-old got this as a gift and still enjoys it a year and a half later. My only complaint is that the cars slow down on the tracks after a while due to wear.I don't know why Fisher Price had such a rage to add sound effects. They used to be a very good developmental toy company, but I think they now want to do way too much imagining for the children.

5-0 out of 5 stars THANK YOU, FISHER PRICE!
This is the very first toy that actually held my son's attention for longer than 5 minutes without me playing right along with him. In fact, and quite sadly, my son loved it so much he actually asked me to move so he could play with it alone, sniffle (heehee). Seriously, this is a GREAT toy, well-made, maybe not so educational, but it works with almost all of our Matchbox cars (and we seem to have THOUSANDS, sigh), and he can carry it himself with the handle. For reference, we bought this when he was a month shy of two, he is past three now, and shows no signs of falling out of love. Anytime he gets a new Matchbox vehicle (or similar size car), the first thing he does (after he has shown everyone in the nearby vicinity his new vehicle) is grab the Spiral Speedway, his basket of other cars, and try to figure out where in the speed lineup the new vehicle falls. Two thumbs up! ... Read more

My 17 month old daughter received this set (after a LONG search for play food that was age appropriate) and immediately it was a huge hit. We're talking about a little girl who has everything (of which 90% is ignored :-)She played non-stop with the entire set for 3 days and its still a big hit.Since its baby-powered, not battery powered - you know a child's response is genuine. My daughter has fed soup to everyone, is delighted to open the soup can and is even beginning to really utilize silverware at the table. Can that be attributed to this toy?I don't know, but these sets are hard to find and a good value - so I say "buy 'em when you see 'em!"From an adult perspective, its very clever and typical of Fisher Price quality.
