2-0 out of 5 stars Great idea, but poor design
We bought this shape sorter for my older son when he was about 18 months old. He'd already been playing with a lightweight plastic one for months, but we liked that this one was wood and had more shapes -- in addition to the basic oval, circle, rectangle, triangle, square, etc., this one has a flower shape, a heart, an octagon, a couple of different triangles, a wedge, parallelogram, etc.

Unfortunately, the shapes fit through any hole in the sorter, so the child isn't really learning much of anything.Plus, the lid is impossible for a small child to keep on while they're playing with it -- even my older son (now 4) has trouble with it!

I've also found that it gets so crowded in there that the shapes don't always fit well when you're fitting in the last few.You need to shake the sorter so that the shapes settle to the bottom.Another issue that I have with this product is, several of the pieces are small enough to fit INTO a small child's mouth -- our younger son, 18 mos, has proven that on several occasions! The plastic ones we have from the other shape sorter are all a bit larger than these pieces, and I think safer. We keep this shape sorter up on a high shelf, to be played with on a rainy day with supervision. It's not a toy I'd leave out for everyday play.

5-0 out of 5 stars motor skills
I wish they had more toys like this so kids can learn shapes and motor skills. I remember the red & blue ball when my kids were little with all the yellow shapes and that was the best! Now that I am looking for the same kind of toy for my grandson and can't find anything close to it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Poorly designed Shape Sorter
We bought this for our 19 month old because we love the idea of well made wood toys, and she needed a good shape sorter.

This seems to be both of those at first glance. However, when you watch how the kids use this, you realize that they are not learning much. Most of the shapes fit through the hole corresponding to another shape. For instance, the long triangle slides easily through the circle's hole.

Perhaps an older child that knows that you only score points when you play by the rules would be able to use this as intended.Otherwise, my child uses the basic Fisher Price plastic shape sorter (4 shapes, each goes in only if placed in the right hole). That taught her what shape sorters are meant to, and she's very good at it!

This toy ends up being quite confusing; so other than the colorful, well-made pieces being used for parent-child play and instruction (or as projectiles), the toy ends up rather neglected. ... Read more

    5-0 out of 5 stars Well-made product
A sturdy and well-made puzzle. My twin girls are a little late in developing fine motor skills, so this was a great choice for them. It's a BIG puzzle and the individual pieces are large enough that they're hard to lose. They're well-finished enough that it seems safe to let the little ones chew on them. The variety of shapes and images underneath are nice.

4-0 out of 5 stars Super Developmental Activity for Little Ones!
I purchased the Jumbo Knob Puzzle: Shapes for my son's 1st birthday. It was too difficult at first, but he quickly grew into it.We'd work it together, and I'm still amazed how much he'd retain the next time we would attempt to put it together.I like that we could work on shapes, colors, matching, and developmental skills in the same toy.Additionally, the jumbo knobs are easy to work, and the pieces don't have to go in with the label upright. This is especially helpful when placing the octagon, and the pentagon pieces.William was fond of this puzzle, and it's held up extremely well.He finally allowed me to put it in the closet with the rest of his baby toys, and he's almost 4-years old.

There are pictures underneath, but not the pictures of the shape. This toy requires a bit more thinking than the typical "pictures under the pieces" puzzle. The pictures are animated objects that reflect everyday life, such as, a clock, a house, and a school bus.The pieces are very chunky for little hands, and have large jumbo knobs. My only gripe is with some of the picture selections. The diamond picture is a close-up of a diamond window. My son didn't know what it was, and when I asked him today he said, "I guess it's a diamond, mom."Perhaps, a better choice would be a kite.At any rate, the puzzle makes an excellent activity for young children. I definitely recommend it.

2-0 out of 5 stars too expensive
this puzzle costs entirely too much for what it offers. you can get the same quality puzzle for $15.00 less at a local store. It held my 2 year old's attention for about 5 minutes and that was it. B-O-R-I-N-G. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My three year old loves it
My two year old boy has never shown much interest in toys, but lately he has been dragging stuff around, so I thought a pull toy will be suitable. He just turned three and I got him the pull dog for his birthday. In anticipation to the short cord, I bought a pair of shoe laces and used one to extend the cord.It works fine.He absolutely loves it and plays with it all day long. The dog is smaller than I expected, but well designed to suit its purpose. It lands on its "feet" almost all the time no matter how many obstacles it has to pass; it rolls on any surface, including carpet. Its head shakes and its tails wags as promised, but its bark is less than desirable. It is so loud!It is a cracking sound that doesn't resemble barking and can definitely drive any adult crazy. All said, it is the first toy my boy has ever shown interest, and I certainly don't regret buying it.I am going to put tape on its belly to muffle the sound, though.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's really a push toy.
The string is way too short to pull this toy, but my twins both enjoyed pushing it around on the ground (rather like a car or truck), at least until they started walking.

5-0 out of 5 stars Max has lasting appeal...
Max has been a favorite toy at our house since we brought him home over six years ago.Our kids had a half a dozen or so pull toys but only Max kept their interest.Yes, the string is ridiculously short. However, I easily found a replacement and my kids were off and running with Max at their heels.Even now when our youngest two are almost four, Max is still popular.I think it's just that he's a dog that they can walk all by themselves. We highly recommend this toy! ... Editorial Review

This cheery two-story plastic dollhouse, which swings open and latches shut in one easy motion, comes with labels that simulate rugs, portraits, mirrors, bookshelves, food in the fridge, and other important amenities--so little decorators will delight. Other ingenious features of this nicely compact house include: a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom with a flip-up toilet, a bedroom with a cupola balcony, and an attic. The residents, three Little People dolls (mama Linda, papa John, and baby Ashley) fit exactly into the pink-and-white furniture that's included (beds, chairs, coffee table, a rocking cradle, highchair, and stroller). Press a button on the cradle and you'll be treated to a few battery-driven goo-goo sounds or a lullaby. --Elisa Murray ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful toy!! BUT..I'd say for at least 2 yr olds and up.
My 3 yr old loves this doll house now. BUT....She didn't play with it right away. We got this & the discovery city when she was around 18-24mos.... Now that she is into roll playing an using her imagination much more it has become a favorite. There isn't a day she doesn't play with it! SO much so....(smile) As for my younger daughter she is 17mos and doesn't seem to interested. She'll carry the people around with her & play with the cars from other sets but as for the house I think AGAIN it's for older children.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this doll house!
My daughter played with this only a couple of times. I think it would be alot more appealing to children if it made sounds.

5-0 out of 5 stars a big hit with my little one
I bought this for my daughter's 1st birthday and she started out just loving to hold the people, now she is almost 2 1/2 and she plays with it every day, acting out situations (I hear her making th mommy talk to the baby and saying the same things I say to her..lol) She loves to put them in bed, have them go in and out of the doors, sit on the potty, wash their hands etc...I know this toy is going to be a favorite of hers for quite a long time!Definately worth the money and now we have added lots of other little people things to go with it! (and it is a fun way for me to play with her too, she asks me, "Mommy, would you please play little people with me!") ... Read more

    Editorial Review

This sturdy plastic car gives toddlers and young preschoolers the basic thrills of a real car, while parents can relax, knowing that this cherry-red sports car can go only as fast as their kids' little feet can carry them. Children sit on a bench-style driver's seat and poke their legs through to the ground. When they start walking, the car begins to scoot. The front wheels swirl like stroller wheels, making them especially responsive to the steering wheel. The front dash features a pretend key with a Little Tikes key chain and a horn button that beeps when pushed. A small storage bin in back can carry traveling gear or simply a stash of road snacks. Approximately 35 inches tall, 25 inches long, and 16 inches wide. --Gail Hudson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My son love this
I bought this for my son when he was just over a year old.He loves it.It is the first thing he runs to when we go outside to play.He loves opening the door and then getting out of the "car" and closing the door.He often gives his toy "friends" a ride.He still only goes backwards, but that doesn't stop him from playing with it.

2-0 out of 5 stars I must have got a lemon...
I just went through all 129 reviews for this toy, and most of them were glowing. My son received this car for his 2nd b-day and absolutely loves it.The only frustrating thing is that the steering wheel keeps coming off!Believe me, it wasn't easy to figure out how to put it on in the first place! It comes off almost every time he plays with it, and when that happens we have to wait for daddy to come home and fix it, because mommy is clueless.Just thought you potential buyers should know.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Riding Toy Ever!!
My son love this foot powered ride on!He was quite disappointed as he slowly realized that it doesn't really fit him any more.He is now almost 6 and I would say if you have a tall child, or larger footed child then they will out grow it faster. My son started to feel cramped by late four yearsor early five years of age.His feet would get stuck coming out if he had shoes on, but bare foot worked great.Head was getting pretty close to roof as well. But then again he is in the 90% for height!!

This is an awesome toy, and is sturdy, fun, imaginative. You can't go wrong! ... Read more
