    Editorial Review

This talking book comes with an interactive "magic pen" that works like a hand-held computer mouse pointer. Children can opt to turn the paper pages and listen to the story read with different voices for each character. Or they can interrupt the read-aloud session to play with the magic pen (permanently attached with a wire). They can point the pen tip to any word on a page and hear it pronounced, or touch a picture and hear a sound effect (such as "Strike one!" for the baseball bat). Very similar to the popular Living Books computer games, this 10-by-11-inch book is more portable than a home computer. Stories in this set include Lil's Loose Tooth, Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever, and Winnie the Pooh in A Sweet Good Morning. The set also includes a paper piano keyboard and map and human anatomy games.--Gail Hudson ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I would pick this over the writer's Leappad
I have both a LeapPad+Writing and regular LeapPad like this one, and I can honestly say that the extra writing feature is not worth the extra money.Stick with the LeapPad regular and get a lot of LeapPad readers.Make sure that you don't buy this if you have babies that tear things up, though. My son has all the LeapPad books, but half of them are unsalvageable because of my toddler that likes to chew on EVERYTHING.The LeapFrog customer service is awesome, though... they have replaced my books for $10 each so I don't have to go out to buy new ones!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Toy I have ever bought
I bought a pink and purple LeapPad for my daughter when she was three for Christmas. She is five now and still plays with it every single day. Everytime a birthday or Christmas rolls around she asks for more LeapPad books. This toy has been a godsend during car and plane trips, hotel and restaurant entertainment, and any other situation when children need to sit still.

She has learned the alphabet, numbers, spelling, and reading from countless hours on this pad. She owns several books and each get used all the time. I think this is honestly the best toy invented in a long time. She has been able to figure it out because it is well thought out for the young user. They can hit the stop button with the pen to stop it, or hit the Go button to continue each story. Each book also has games and other activities, so they are well worth the money. It is impossible for my daughter to get bored with it because each book is countless hours of reading, games, music, and excitement.

I encourage all parents of young children to buy this LeapPad. It is well worth the money. It is a toy that they will not grow out of in a short amount of time because the books range in ages.It is not only educational but very durable. Our LeapPad has been dropped countless times and is still intact. The only complaint I do have is that it tends to consume batteries quickly and you need a screw driver to take off the cover to put new ones in. Other than that, that is the only negative I have to say about the LeapPad.

2-0 out of 5 stars Toooo sloooowww for my boy
My boy has the attention span of a 4 year old. Why? Because he is 4 years old. He has no patience for the slow pace of age-appropriate leap pad materials. The learning games are too short, too slow, and too repetitive for him. ... Read more

    Speed Racer Set

5-0 out of 5 stars A great buy!
This cute little set is a snap-together carnival of fun, which pits Speed Racer's famous Mach 5 against another racecar in a head-to-head competition. The instructions allow you to fit the pieces together quickly, and then you just pull the cars backward to wind them up and lock them into the starting gate. Then, count down, push the buttons, and watch them fly! Each car goes through four loops, crosses the finish line, and then zooms off a ramp and into the air! (That's the basic layout, there are two others!)

I bought this set for my son, and think that it was a great buy! Like I said, it goes together quickly and easily, requires no electricity, and is a lot of fun. My son loves this set and highly recommends it to you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Speed Racer Track....My OPINION
I think it is the dumbest most ostentatious track set that I have ever seen for a child's track set, and believe me having to raise two boys with just about the same similiar interest, neither one of them would have appreciated this long long red and blue monstrocity. My youngest son is a Speed Racer fanatic, and he wasn't even impressed with this thing, and he also loves various tracks, Oh well, that's just my/our opinion. This makes me glad that I don't have to worry about either one of my children liking it, well, at least one of them, the other has since grown out of playing with toys to 'playing' with girls.
(and please don't read anymore into that statement than what is intended,I'd greatly appreciate it). Okay, end of my OPINION.
    Thanks for reading this.
By the way, just by looking at this thing, I couldn't even come up with one star, especially for appearance, but since I had to give it some kind of rating, I gave it the lowest rating possible. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent inside the car at night
My son used to be frustruated when we were driving and it was too dark to play with his leapfrog. He didn't understand that turning on the overhead light was too much of a distraction for anyone driving. This light is an excellent solution to that problem. Now our long commutes together during the dark winter months are much happier since he can enjoy his leapfrog and this light does not take away from my driving visibility since its directed only towards the pages. Its also nice that it had a timer which ensures it does not get left on; although he had to learn that after awhile it may shut off during his playtime but simply needs to turn it back on.Overall this light has been excellent for us.It does fall off occasionally but will easily clip back on.Most of the time we don't even need it attached anyways.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product
It's easy to install and works with all LeapFrog products. It comes with several size clips to fit the proper system.

My son is 4 yrs old and loves for me to read to him @ bedtime.Lately he really thinks he can actually read words rather than pictures. Now he can "read" to himself using the light instead of a flashlight. He also uses the headphones from his portable CD player so if he's in the bed with his parents, we can listen to the news while he "reads". ... 1-0 out of 5 stars deceiving!!!
If you are looking to add a microphone to your product then just purchase the microphone, NOT the microhpone with these two books. If you purchase this item then you are LIMITED to these two books!!If you purchase the microphone you can use ALL microphone enhanced books!!!My kids LOVE the microphone. It is great to hear their own voice and sounds.I give the microphone itself 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun for all ages
All three of my boys (21 months-11 years) love this addition to our Leapfrog. The 4 and 11 year old have no problem putting in the mircophone. The both enjoy recording and then playing back and then rerecording and playing back again. The 21 month old moves the pen-when he hears a beep he chatters something. He can also get it to play back.I gave it 3 stars for durable because the baby ripped the pages out of the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun!
This product was loads of fun.My daughter loved hearing her own voice and making sounds in the book.We never had a problem with the microphone, just the pen when she decided to chew through the cord.No worries Leap Pad replaces them for 5 dollars! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Overall a good toy
My 2 1/2 year old son got this table six months ago as a present from my father and step mother for his second birthday. He loves it and uses it every day.He likes the chalk board best of all.He has used leggos on the table but mostly just likes to take them out and use them on the floor.I haven't given him the dry erase markers since he is really not ready for markers (will mark everything in sight if he had them)but I am sure that he will love that when the time comes since he loves to draw.He is on the smaller side of average for his age and is able to take the tables off but as other reviewers have said, they do tend to get stuck and can break easily but with a little bit of supervision, this is not a problem. The other problem is that for whatever reason every 2 year old we know immediately wants to sit on top of the table and it is really not strong enough to sustain it.He also uses the table as a regular table drawing with his crayons on paper and doing puzzles on it.Just the storage alone makes it a better toy than just a table and chairs and odds are that one or more of the activities that this table offers will appeal to your child. It would definitely be a better toy if it were stronger and easier to change the tops though.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Constructed for 2 y/o
We got this table as a Channukah gift. This table is a great idea, however it is not made for 2-3 y/o children. The table tops do not slide in, they flip flop over stabilizers. When the child tries to interchange them they gets wedged behind the stabilizers, the child pushes on the top trying to flip it = cracking the table. We got very frustrated because my son loves it, but both tops are cracked. From reading the other reviews, other children have sat on top of the table top and broken the tops all together. It sounds that it either needs to be redesigned or should not be recommended for kids under 3 1/2 y/o.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not what I ordered
Based off of the picture it showed a sliding top for LEGO's. Get it here and its a table top that pulls off INSTEAD of sliding off, not to mention the fact that it is for Duplo's, not LEGOS. Would not recommend as with kids the climbed on the table and broke it in two minutes. No wonder they are not in stock any longer. Do not recommend it unless you personally can brace the top of the set with reenforcing 1*2's spaced out. Saved our other three tops when we did this. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Neat concept but too easy from the top
The idea of this box is very neat. You can put little things inside and then it is a game for the child to learn the locks and get in it.But, why bother? The two doors on the top have no latch or lock and just a little finger size notch to pull them open (see the second photo). They were easy enough to discover by my 2 year old and so he lost interest in the other locks and latches.Plus, if I were to have designed the box I would have put a divider inside to have more then on compartment since there are so many doors.I did see one similar but made by another company with a divider inside at a discovery store after I bought this one. It does state for 3 years and up so I guess I will put his away and see if he likes later.Too bad! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toy!
A simple, virtually indestructable, requires-no-batteries kind of toy that keeps my three year old nephew amused for hours- and improves hand-eye coordination. I have not noticed any problems with paint coming off, but I have noticed they tend to end up scattered all over the living room floor. Not a mess-free toy.

3-0 out of 5 stars FYI -- block counts
Since the item descriptions on Amazon are so brief, here's what the set contains:

32 little rectangles (1x1x2)(The basic unit I'm using is the thickness of all the blocks, about half an inch, so all the dimensions start with 1 the way I'm describing them).
    16 long little rectangles (1x1x4)
    44 squares (1x2x2)
    16 big rectangles (1x2x4)
    2 extra-big rectangles (1x2x8)
10 triangles (half of a big rectangle)
    21 short cylinders (1 diameter x 2 length)
    15 long cylinders (1 diameter x 4 length)
2 arches (big rectangle with a semicircle cut out)
    2 semicircles

1-0 out of 5 stars Paint 'Blues'...do NOT buy this set!
I bought this set for my 4 year old son who loves to build. These blocks proved to be a good sturdy set with lots of possibilities. However, one day I notice his fingers all covered in paint residue from these blocks! I was shocked. I am in the midst of trying to find the right address to alert Imaginarium to this problem. The woman at ToysRus where I purchased this set said "well, I can't imagine the paint is toxic...it's no big deal." No big deal?? Toxic or not, I don't want ANYone, let alone my son, to be ingesting paint. I would NOT recommend getting this set for anyone until Imaginarium can come up with a better way to paint their sets. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Way To Start
These are great toys. Our son, who is 2, needs a bit of help setting it up, but he really is fascinated by the trains. He also likes the Thomas videos. This toy is easy to set up for a parent and, if your kid doesn't knock it over, a great time.

5-0 out of 5 stars My kids love Thomas
My 3year old son loved his cousin's Thomas train set so much that we went out and bought this set the next day. It is a good starter set at a good price and it came with a bonus video. Excellent quality. The basic figure 8 also makes it easily to add on items such as extra track and trains.

    Highly recommend this item

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for 18 months and up!
The Thomas train and train collections are durable toys. Their real value, though, is that playing with the toys allows children to act out the great Thomas and Friends children's stories they read and watch.

The figure 8 set is a popular way to introduce kids to Thomas. THIS SET THAT COMES WITH A VIDEO IS A GREAT VALUE.But there is generic track available that costs far less. Our kids haven't noticed the difference.

    Purchasing recommendation:
    * Choose which type of Thomas trains you will 'standardize' on. There are three kinds: This size of wooden trains from Learning Curve; larger, plastic, battery-operated trains from Tomy; and smaller, die-cast metal trains from Ertl. The wooden trains have the most products and accessories available.

    * The clickety-clack (grooved to look like real railroad) track in the Thomas series is great, but it's expensive; I recommend buying generic track. ... You can literally save hundreds of dollars by buying these kinds of sets.

    * Buy the Thomas and friends engines separately--and wait for sales. The kids care about the characters, so no short-cutting (ie., Brio or generic trains) here.

    * Look for trains bundled with VHS videos. You can get a video and a train (on sale) for about the same price as a train alone. ... Read more

My sister used to have a lovelly little 8" Madeline doll, which, though some of my friends thought she was freaky, my whole family, particularly my sister, really liked her and thought that she was very sweet and accurat to the book. Unfortunately, we lost the doll at an airport a few weeks ago, and have been unabloe to retrieve it. She would like a new Madaline doll for her birthday, but when confronted with the new version she started to scream, and I can quite understand this as it looks like a pretty pretty mutated alien Barbie with cat's eyes, and nothing like the adorable, quaint little Madeline in the books, who has the round chin, pebble eyes and short hair of the origional doll, which captured her charactor much better. She is an adventurous scruffy, brave schooolgirl, and in not apretty pretty Barbie. Please please bring back the old dolls. You can be sure that we will not buy your yucky new model.
P.s. Madeline in the books wears a little straight dress, not a red wolly jumper and skirt.

1-0 out of 5 stars YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!!!!!!
WHOSE "BRIGHT IDEA" WAS IT TO CHANGE THE ORIGINAL 8" MADELINE AND FRIENDS DOLLS? MUST BE SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER OPENED A SINGLE MADELINE BOOK AND, THEREFORE, VOID OF ANY APPRECIATION FOR THIS CHILDREN'S CLASSIC. THESE NEW DOLLS ARE NOT EVEN ATTRACTIVE AND ARE VERY RUN OF THE MILL AND CARTOONISH.THE ENTIRE LOOKS AND NUANCES OF THE ORIGNAL CHARACTERS ARE COMPLETELY MISSING. WHY MESS UP A PERFECT CLASSIC?THE MANUFACTURER HAS REALLY MISSED THE TARGET WITH THIS ONE.WOULD THEY ALSO CHANGE THE LOOK OF MICKEY MOUSE OR SANTA? I THINK THEY'RE CAPABLE OF RUINING ALOT OF CLASSICS.I WOULD NOT BUY THIS FOR MY LITTLE ONE OR ANYONE ELSE. I GIVE IT A BIG FAT 0. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

LeapFrog is well known for their interactive learning toys and now they've paired with Disney for a princesses' tour of language and math. Cinderella and Belle will help guide your child through various learning activities, such as: letter hunt, spelling games, addition and subtraction games, and number find. Both Belle and Cinderella tell jokes, sing songs, and are generally encouraging with sweet and cheerful voices. If your child decides to stop playing and doesn't turn the laptop off, the princesses ask, "Would you like to play some more?" and if there is no answer, the computer shuts itself off. An LCD screen displays letters, numbers, and other pictures during all the activities. Moms and dads will be glad to note that there are two volumes and virtually no set-up. Requires 4 "AA" batteries (included). --Megan Sullivan ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Disney Princess Laptop
My daughter (2) and I loved it.The music is not annoyingly loud, but soft and soothing. It's great that it has built activities as oppossed to memory cards that are inserted in and out.Children tend to loose those and then it's a junk toy.Only problem is the addition button.I've already exchanged two and it doesn't work.I bought it at Toys R Us, took for an exchange and the second new one had the same problem.Don't know if it was a factory defect, and it's been discontinued but my daughter liked it so much we had to keep it.Maybe later I can call some number to find out how to make it work.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is a good learning toy
My daughter loves Disney Princesses and she wants to get on my computer sometimes but is still too young to do things herself,so I got her this and she loves it!! She has learned quite a few things from it also. It is very durable, I think you get your money's worth. It makes them feel so big!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great learning toy
I bought this laptop for my daughter's 3rd Birthday.I think she has used it everyday since then.It really helps her learn her letters. She knows just about all of them now, after using it for about 3 months.I like that it is teaching her but she is having fun at the same time. She really enjoys playing with it.She says she is going to check her email when she uses it.There is a volume control, which is good.It also seems very durable.I haven't had any problems with it so far.I would definately recommend this toy for any little girl. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Had to buy 2!
I have a 4 and a 6 year old. Boy and girl. It is sometimes hard to find something that both can interchange in a car, waiting room, or restaurant. This toy is so wonderful and educational, too. They both like the different levels since they have different abilities. They love the sounds and the stylus that helps them with fine motor skills and the positive reinforcement of the stars, shells, or whatever the theme is. We love putting headphones in it for the car or as they doze off on those nights when they just need a bit more to unwind possibly after a big day at the theme park or with grandma!
I have seen great strides in my youngest with counting and adding since trial and error games with the cartridges. She LOVES the ones that let you create pictures and add items together while my 6 year old loves beating the clock with memory games and spelling with the learning cartridges. I would love to buy one for every kid in school if I won the lottery!!!!
You will not regret this purchase like in the past where you thought, "what possessed me to buy this?!".

5-0 out of 5 stars The best toy of all time
My parents gave this to my four-year-old for christmas with five games. She hasn't stopped playing with it yet and it's mid-May!We're going on a trip to Scotland this summer, so I bought her two more games to play on the plane. That should keep her going for the entire 8 hr. flight. She just loves it so much she plays it non stop.As for the battery life, I have only changed the batteries twice in all this time.I think it does really well for batteries. This is by far the best toy she owns because she's having fun and learning at the same time. It's like a cross between game boy advance and an educational computer game.Buy this toy. It's worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it!!!!!!!!
I have recently made a playroom in my home for when my 2yr old granddaughter comes to visit. She plays with my neighbors children and they love the doll house.

The doll house is very sturdy. I thought I would have to bolt it to a wall so that it wouldn't tip but it wasn't necessary.

I have read by other reviewers how easy it was to put together, sorry to say I didn't find it as easy. Maybe it would have been easier if the directions were made clearer. Always make sure the walls are facing in the right direction. After a few mistakes I finally had it all together in a little over 2 hours.

A few pieces of wooden furniture come with this house but I ended up going to Toys R Us and buying a few more pieces and smaller dolls. I found the larger dolls (like Barbie) didn't fit as well in the bed and shower.

After rereading my review it sounds like I am doing a lot of complaining but I want you to know the negatives as well as the positives.

The positives far outweigh the negatives. The house is sturdy, Attractive, and fun. My 2yr old granddaughter and neighbrs kids ages 4,6,7 just love playing with this doll house.

For the price you are getting your monies worth. This is a quality item.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
This doll house was easy to put together for such a big toy, and it turned out better then I had even imagined. My daughter gasped when she saw it on her birthday. It came with quality wood furniture! No doubt this was the best buy for the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stood up to our 12lb cat test !
I got this house for my 3 year olds birthday. My 12 year old put it together ! The only problem we encountered building it was putting on the attic. The pieces are not labeled left and right. The instructions are pictures only, so you need to pay attention and follow it step by step ! My 12lb cat enjoys lounging in the upstairs bedroom, and so far, the house has stood up to his standards !!!!Love the attic space !My 3 girls are really enjoying it !!! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money!
This toy is just awful. It is nothing more than cheap plastic rods and balls with an elasticized rope inside. The shapes you put together just flop all over and it is not a lot of fun trying to untwist the sticks once they are in a mass. They are just junky in my opinion and we have been much happier with Zoobs, Mags and Legos.Even the building sets from Denny's are much, much better than this toy.Yuck.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Fiddle Fun
This toy is so simple and fun it is hard to put down, even for an adult.

5-0 out of 5 stars easy for little fingers
my 18 month old is easily able to 'twist' the ends of the twistix together and work on colors and dexterity - we love it! ... Read more
