    Editorial Review

The Pregnancy Book is an excellent all-in-one guide to pregnancy from William and Martha Sears, creators of the concept of "attachment parenting." Each of the book's chapters represents a month, and deals with physical and emotional changes, describes the growth of the fetus, and discusses common concerns. The authors also focus on nutrition, exercise, information and support for home births and birthing centers, traveling while pregnant, how to avoid episiotomy, and so on. The approach is gentle, thorough, and includes more information than some month-by-month guides, which makes The Pregnancy Book an excellent choice for pregnant couples. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Ponderous to read and lacking concrete information
I really didn't like this book.I bought this and what to expect when you are expecting.I prefered the other.I found this lacking in concrete developmental info about the fetus. There were too many "write in questions" and personal anicdotes and not enough facts.I will probably sell this book in my yard sale or send it to goodwill as I really didn't find it helpful at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best so far!
Aside from the great information, I love the tone of this book.I'm very touchy about how all things feminine tend to be all things inane/dumbed down/sacharine in this world, and thus I'm picky about how the authors address their audience. This book is the only one I've found that contains comprehensive advice with compassion and thinks you have a brain as well as a uterus. My only wish was that there was more on coping with morning sickness.I'll definately buy more from the Sears.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Pregnancy Book on the Market
If you're looking for practical and thorough information and guidance to help you through pregnancy, this is the book to get. I very much appreciated that this book, based on the language it uses, assumes that the reader is an intelligent woman who wants to be empowered to make the right choices. I also liked that in the month-by-month breakdowns, it covers all the mixed emotions you may be feeling, offers explanantions why, and then reassures you that it's all perfectly normal. This is such a comprehensive book, it's hard to list all that it covers. Some of the areas it covers: what your body will be going through each trimester; how the baby will be developing each month; how to exercise properly; how to negotiate maternity leave; what federal laws exist to protect you; how to care for your hair and skin; the differences between hospital, birth center and home births, and the pros and cons of each; the difference between seeking care from an OB vs. a midwife -- and all that is covered by the time you're reading about the second trimester!
I have to add that people who believe that pregnancy is some sort of illness or disability will not enjoy this book. Neither will those who just want to get to a hospital, be hooked up to medicine and "get it over with." This book treats pregnancy as the natural, exciting occasion that it is, one that should in no way hinder you from leading an active, healthy life. It also goes to great lengths to empower women to dispel a lot of myths about "alternative" options (such as using midwives or home births) and urges them to be active, informed and vigilant stakeholders in their own pregnancies. ... Editorial Review

In The Birth Book: Everything You Need to Know to Have a Safe and Satisfying Birth, William and Martha Sears, authors of The Baby Book and creators of the concept of "attachment parenting," here turn their attention to the birth experience. In this helpful resource guide, the Searses cover the gamut of possibilities, and teach readers what they need to know to take control of their own birthings. The Birth Book is divided into three parts: "Preparing for Birth," "Easing Pain in Labor," and "Experiencing Birth." You'll find details about vaginal births; cesareans; VBACs; water births; home births; best birthing positions; drugs; pain; how to design your own birth plan; the humor, chemistry, and sexuality of birth; and pages and pages of birth stories. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent First Resource
I am a mother of three - two unmedicated hospital births and one home birth. This is an excellent book for the first time pregnant mother (as well as more experienced mother looking for alternatives to her past birth experiences). It is full of information and gives it in a concise and conversational tone.I disagree with the reviews that state that this book is one sided or biased. It is informative. If you are not interested in natural childbirth, this book is not for you.The heart does not yearn for what it does not know...

5-0 out of 5 stars The best birth book out there!
This book is informative and appropriately detailed. It educates the reader on when interventions are harmful and when they are necessary. It also discusses the various options for birthing (hospitals, birth centers, homebirth, etc.) and what to look for in each when choosing where you birth. After reading this book, I feel much more informed in my birthing decisions and reassured that I have selected a doctor who is respectful of my positions.

1-0 out of 5 stars Biased, biased, biased!
I was mislead by the reviews others have entered for this book. I am sure that this book would be helpful for those who are certain that they want a completely natural birth experience. However, if you are in need of a hospital birth (as I am due to an incompetent cervix and RH disease) or if you would welcome a little pain relief for an experience that most describe as the most excrutiangly painful one of their lives DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. The author starts out by stating that she will endeavor to give an unbiased account of one's options during birth, but instead goes on to write one of the most biased books I have ever read. She basically endeavors to make you feel like you can't possibly be a true woman if you even consider a hospital or medicated birth. She all but puts down those of us who are considering bithing methods that are not completely holistic. The thing that angered me even more was when, in her description of her own birth experiences, she stated that she never had a birth that lasted more than 6 hours. Although most of us dream of a birth as short as that, I hear more stories about women who are in labor for at least 12-24 hours, and sometimes even longer. I found the author biased and condescending and I would not recommend this book to anyone who was exploring what their options are. If you have already decided that you want a home birth that was unmedicated the author may have something to offer, otherwise, buy something else. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book...
This really is a fabulous book. You really have to take the cosleeping talk and the things you don't necessarily agree on with a grain of salt.Read around those views if you don't believe in them, because the rest of the book is fabulous.Take to heart the instruction and the positive feedback this book provides.I could have NEVER lived without it, and it is already being borrowed for the 5th time!Everyone who has used it, loves it!
    Good luck!

5-0 out of 5 stars Informative, Motivating and Easy-To-Read
The Breastfeeding Book does a great job of relating why it is so important to breastfeed and teaching techniques of getting started and dealing with any problems. It contains much of the same information as The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, but in a more organized and easy-to-read format (I recommend The Womanly Art as well, though).I have been nursing my baby with great success, and the information from this book has helped me to give my son the best nutritional start in life. The Sears' emphasis on attachment parenting, while off-putting to some, is actually helpful, because one of the most important (but often overlooked) keys to successful breastfeeding is to feed on cue, day and night, rather than on a schedule (and that won't keep you up all night if your baby sleeps near you- after the first few weeks most babies only need one or two nighttime feedings).Feeding on cue is what maintains your milk supply, and it often makes the difference between moms who succeed at breastfeeding and those who "just couldn't do it".

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible book
I hated this book. I didn't even read the whole thing because it was boring and I did not like the Sears views on mothers who give their babies formula. I read The Everything Breastfeeding Book and I loved it. I was never bored. My baby was in the NICU and her first night she was given bottles. The second day she was given my pumped milk in bottles and formula because my milk was not all the way in yet. My baby would not latch on when we got home so my mom bought me the Medela nipple shields to use and that is how I breast feed my baby. The Sears would call me a horrible mother because I "didn't try hard enough" but I really did all I could it just didn't work so I made it work with soem help from a nipple shield. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of research citation
Many books are written on birthing noutside the hospital, but most of them come from authors who are extremely biased. You can't avoid that, but this is a book which uses scientific studies to back up its biases, convincing the reader that the author supports natural childbirth because it has been proven safer, not because they are part of some conspiracy theory.I literally would pick up natural childbirth books and flip right to the back to see if the author cited medical studies. Most don't, but this has a good resource section. She cites statistic, national averages, medical journals, research studies, quotes from medical association conferences, etc. There is also a good history of midwifery and obstetrics - very interesting.

Wanting to give birth outside a hospital is not necessarily the most popular decision and those who support hospital births often say, "I would never forgive myself if something happened to the baby".However, most people have not done the research or read the material to make an informed decision.I wanted to find scientific research that proves that a "low-risk" birth outside a hospital is as safe or safer than those in a hospital. This has been the most helpful book so far.

I just discovered "Obsteric Myths Versus Research Realities" by Henci Goer which seems like it also may have good scientific backup. You may want to check it out. This book is great for learning little statistics and facts to reference when friends and family members question the wisdom and safety of non-traditional birth. If you're going to go against the mainstream, be well-informed, not just easily persuaded.

For another non-citation book, I also enjoyed Midwife's Pregnancy and Childbirth Book by Marion McCartney and Antonia Van Der Meer, which talks about the possible interventions you may encounter at a hospital, why you may need them, why you may not want them; as well as other good information

1-0 out of 5 stars Outdated and Opinionated
This book is very outdated and the opinion in it is very slanted.I would rather read a book that states facts from both sides, not a one-sided bashing.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for somethings,
but don't read this if you are only going to read one book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Ignore some of the negative reviews and give this one a try!
I have read a lot of baby books and I think this one IS well layed out and DOES support breastfeeding. Introducing solids at 4 months is NOT a bad thing, but readers and parents need to know that they DON'T have to do what a book tells them to.DO what you want based on YOUR child's development. And the book doesn't suggest switching from breast to formula. It suggests that at about 5 months you can, if you want to, introduce a bottle of breastmilk to a breast feed baby, not formula! The week by week lay out is helpful, but we ALL know that all babies develop differently and that your child is not always going to be a textbook baby!Gosh, people, lighten up!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best baby book
As a first time mom who nurses,
I find this book extremely helpful.I
received many other books from friends, but all had very clear
agendas and gave contradictory advice.I got more stressed
trying to reconcile the advise found in "Babywise" with "The Natural Baby", which claimed the other methods would make
my baby obese or fail to thrive!I finally put both
those away and use this one only. This book does not
preach one method over another and gives a good reference for
what to expect from your baby and when.Every few weeks,
my husband and I look through it and see what we should
look for, what we should change in the baby's room (ie. when to
remove the mobile hanging over the crib), and how to
encourage growth and development. There also are helpful
tips throughout the book (ie. when to call the doctor, how to
make your house safe for the baby once he starts
to move around, etc.)For now on, I will get this
book for my friends when they are expecting.

2-0 out of 5 stars Fair Read
This book is a good tool for just a simple guideline on development but it's not very up to date on some of the more "controversal" issues. If you plan to breastfeed or co-sleep, this book doesn't favour either. It also seems to favour commercial baby food and other products over making your own.It also doesn't discuss alternative ways to immunize children that might be less harmful for them. ... Editorial Review

Classical music for children has become a genre unto itself, founded on the premise of brain-power building and all too often steering parental buyers away from the full-blown versions of particular compositions toward reorchestrated renditions. It's frequently the case that a brain-tickling classical set will be played on digital keyboards, with softened tonal colors and shapes. Not so with this excellent Beethoven set. Recognized ensembles take up the music, from the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center to the New York Chamber Symphony to the Oxford String Quartet and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. The emphasis is on Beethoven's gentler side, from the poetic "Für Elise" for solo piano to the bucolic settings portrayed in the two selections from Beethoven's Symphony No. 6. This is neither a synapse-popping set of virtuoso performances nor an altered look at Beethoven, but it is a well-selected, well-programmed set of works that will ease a child's brain into the works at hand. --Andrew Bartlett ... This is lovely, soothing music suitable for babies or tired adults!I began listening to it and other "Baby Needs" CD's (the Guitar compilation is wonderful too) before my daughter was born, and have continued to play it for her ever since.Even Classical music purists shouldn't object to hearing just portions of major works-- the compensation is having a complete collection of calm, peaceful music.Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Calms your soul.....
Just had to take a moment to write this review. I bought this CD 9 months ago right before the due date of my first baby. Being a new mom and nervous and trying to do everything right, I played this CD the first week home from the hospital. It would totally calm both me and baby and we would rock and rock until he was asleep. I've always loved all kinds of music but having such a peaceful CD to listen to helped me gain my perspective and take a deep breath and just enjoy this new little one I had in my arms. Music does that to me but this CD has something extra special.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Rated Recordings. Excellent Song Selection
Too often classical music CD's for families or kids are poor in quality. But that is not the case with this excellent CD. The recordings on this CD were selected from the very best, previously released recordings.

The songs were carefully chosen for the theme of "mothers-to-be and young children," and then outstanding recordings by legendary artists were used. The quality and performances are outstanding.

You can find these recording on the legendary "Complete Mozart Collection" by Phillips. It's a who's who of classical music superstars. That's how regarded this music is.

Some people would not notice the difference between this quality CD and, say, new-age influenced synthesizer classical music, but the quality difference is important. This is just wonderful music!

What everyone will appreciate is the pleasant selection of music. This is pleasant music for parents and young children, or anyone. Mozart is like that anyway. Everyone likes this Mozart CD, and it's great for kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL
I love this CD! I play it all the time when I am at home because it helps me to relax, and being 8 months pg...it definitely eases the stress.I also bring the CD to work with me sometimes and it's very relaxing.I highly recommend this for anyone who is pregnant or expecting ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great attention grabber
Its true that it does fit on my 4 month olds infant carrier but he is much easier to play with on his tummy or in his hands, but he loves Max all the same! Max has so many different things to chew on, and 35% of the time he's in Zach's mouth! And 60% of the time Zach will sort of hold him away from him for a while, and STARE at him, than he will grab him and hug him! But the other 5% of the time is why I love Max so much, when ever Zach starts crying you just make Max giggle and within seconds Zach is happy boy again! My 20 month old twins think its soo funny that their little brother will laugh like that! Max goes in the stroller, in the car, in the diaper bag, at the highchair, in the exersaucer EVERYWHERE, Max isnt my sons "lovey" but its probably his favorite "toy".Max easily spot cleans and I have put him in the machine a few times! Max is also filled with so many cute colors. I dont know what it is about Max, but even though he can't really attatch to the infant carrier without Zach getting really angrey, he's well worth it!

If you are in preparation for the arrival of a newborn, it is essential to purchase BR Max the Monkey.I am 11 years old and whenever I hear my baby brother Matthew cry, I hand him BR and just like magic, the crying stops.I don't know if it is the monkey's infectious giggle or its appealing colors but I do know that this is like a magical ingredient to make a baby stop crying.Believe me, you must make it a priority to purchase lovable BR before your child enters the world. You will never regret it.This is one of the most effective baby toys ever.Congats to Lamaze on creating yet another successful item for babies.

    Editorial Review

Lamaze isn't lying when they say "pop and drop" about this colorful contraption. The easy-open activity quilt makes a soft place for a new baby to take in the view of two overhead arches with three dangling toys--a mirrored sun, a crinkly flower with a pull-down bee, and a ladybug squeaker with teether wings. By reaching for these dangling delights, babies can build important grasping and tracking skills, and hand-eye coordination. Once baby has progressed to rolling over, the activity quilt has hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. There's a crinkly sun hiding in a cloud, a ladybug underneath a soft flower petal, a frog in a lily, and a star behind the quarter moon. The quilt, toys, and arches roll up neatly for easy transport, and the polyester fabric is machine washable. Loops sewn around the mat allow you to attach more of baby's toys, while mesh pockets on the outside make toting those extra items a cinch. --Pam Lauer ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Our baby has played on this all 7 plus months so far...
For a portable play gym, this is awesome.I found this in a store, and bought it as our daughter's only play gym she has ever had. From being a newborn staring up at the dangly toys ... to the times when she started reaching... to now, whe she can pull ever toy (and removes them gleefully from thier hanging position, which she can do on any dangly toy now).. and she rolls over and plays with the crinkly and hidden toys now, while trying to learn to crawl. And, it is PORTABLE!!!I mean, we take this thing everywhere.

It is worth every penny one can pay for it.Now, the one downside, but I would consider this minor overall. It doesn't stay up anymore as much. But, this has to do more with our daughter.I think any play gym would suffer at her hands now.She has always been a big girl (over 9 1/2 lbs at birth) ... she is 7 months, and we buy 2 toddler sizes for her.She can reach up with her toes and knock the whole thing down. She loves moving things with both her hands and feet. But, we still can set it up for her, and away she is with it again, playing gleefully.

If I had one item I would recommend, this is it.There is an arsenal of toys she has she never uses. This one is used daily.

5-0 out of 5 stars It even put him to sleep!!!!
We bought this baby gym when our son was just born and we started using it by 2 months and a half. It has been a wonderful way to keep him busy and even stimulate him. At first he noticed the bright colors and patterns and he only had eyes for the mirrored sun that hangs from the arches. By 3 months he discovered the other toys and started playing with them. He could spend from 40 minutes to a whole hour playing happily by himself and many times I found him asleep hugging the little ladybug squeaker with teether wings!!!! or even the two arches!
Now that he is 4 months and a half he has started knocking the arches down and likes to chew on the toys. But he has rolled over and instead plays with the toys in the quilt. We really think this is a wonderful gym for your baby and you won't regret buying it!!!!!

In their excellent (and hefty) resource guide, The Baby Book, attachment parenting specialists William Sears and Martha Sears have provided new parents with their approach to every aspect of baby care basics, from newborns to toddlers. Attachment parenting is a gentle, reasonable approach to parenting that stresses bonding with your baby, responding to her cues, breastfeeding, "wearing" your baby, and sharing sleep with your child. For those parents who worry about negative effects of this attention, the Sears say, "Spoiling is what happens when you leave something (or some person) alone on the shelf--it spoils." ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars very informative book
I got this book while I was pregnant, because I really enjoy other Dr. Sears books. I really agree with most of his parenting ideals. This book also has so much helpful information. It has many things on nursing problems, and sleeping problems and colds and babies first foods and even some wonderful baby food recipes. I use this book all the time to see if my son could be teething or if he is showing signs of an ear infection, and many other things. This is a great book and a great resource for new parents.

As a first time mom, I found this book to be extremely helpful. However, one needs to take into consideration that every family is different and every child is different. Dr. Sears takes a very sensitive, natural approach to child rearing; almost old fashioned if you will. This may not be the style or approach that is appropriate for your families needs. It worked for my family though.

Dr. Sears strongly advocates attachment parenting. By this, the parents become very bonded to their child via using slings to carry them around in, co-sleeping, and being sensitive to the child's needs. My husband and I have done all of this and we have the happiest toddler you could ever imagine. People are constantly commenting on how happy and approachable he is. I am so intoned with my son that I hardly ever need to reprimand him; I just need to give him the look and he knows I mean business. My son never went through separation anxiety or stranger anxiety and I think this is because he gets his fill of us so much he doesn't feel that anxiety.

I feel this book encourages a very sensitive approach towards childrearing that just felt right for my husband and I. Several of the other baby books out there like, `What to expect the first year' just took a very cold and calloused approach in my opinion.

As far as a few of the comments I've read stating that this book is very bias towards the mother, I say that is nonsense. The only thing that this book states that the mother can do that the father can't is breast feed. Every single thing in this book can just as easily be done by the mother as well as the father.

Again, every baby is different and every household has different needs. This book worked perfectly for my son's needs and he's a happy, outgoing, smart toddler today because of these methods.

5-0 out of 5 stars Where's the review for the new edition?
I loved one of the previous editions of this book and used it as the main reference for parenting my baby. Now that Dr. and Mrs. Searses two oldest boys are pediatritians and are co-authors (in fact James is listed first) in the newest edition of this book, I would like to hear about that. Even the editorial review offered by Amazon refers to previous editions, yet they picture and give facts for the newest release. Just an observation I would like to see corrected. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THE ONE BOOK TO ORDER
I have been spending months reviewing the pros/cons of Vaccination. This book gives you a wealth of information that goes beyond vaccination in a clear concise manner. Dr. Mendelsohn is a well respected authority in the pediatric field and if you are even a bit curious about the health of your child - GET THIS BOOK - it is worth MORE than I paid for it!

5-0 out of 5 stars READ THIS BOOK!!!
As parents we are our child's best advocate.Noone else will love your child or have their best interests at heart, ever. Why people blindly trust their doctor without question is unreal. They receive much of their training from pharm. companies who are only in one business, to make money.Doctors are now trained to prescribe drugs, not teach us how to be healthy and avoid getting sick.My family only goes to the doctor for the big things, things that can't be treated at home. There is a time and place for doctors but it isn't for every little cough and sniffle. This book is a great resource. It will help you know when to treat symptoms at home and when a doctor is really needed.I have avoided many trips to the doctor by following his advice.

5-0 out of 5 stars A BOOK EVERY PARENT SHOULD MEMORIZE
This book is simply superb!!!!Dr. Mendelsohn was one of the first --- and, unfortunately, is still one of the very few --- physicians to tell the truth about the medical profession. While quite a few years have passed since its initial publication, this book only gets better and truer with age. Before you even consider ruining the lives of your children by turning them into drugged out zombies with Ritalin or damaging their immune systems with vaccinations, READ THIS BOOK!!!! ... Editorial Review

Breastfeeding mothers, especially those who need a night off orwho work outside the home, know how essential and personal a breastpump can be. Like most breast pumps, this Medela model mimics a nursingbaby's sucking motion, and it comes with numerous attachments that makeit easy to transfer a mother's milk into a standard baby bottle.Because of its compact size, the pump is discreet and highly portable.Unfortunately, the adjustable suction vacuum doesn't have the samedrawing power as that of an industrial-size electric pump, and it makesmore noise. A tester found the motor to be so loud that it could beheard from behind a closed door--this may not be the best model if youare looking for privacy at work. It comes with a companion transformer,so it can be plugged into an electrical outlet, or it can be poweredwith two AA batteries. --Hannah Reynolds ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars waste of money
I got this pump at my shower and I regret not having looked around for a better pump. My son gainedover 2 lbs in two weeks so I know he's getting enough when he nurses, but I struggle at times to get ONE ounce, sometimes two if I'm lucky. Even if I take a hot shower first to encourage let down, still no luck. It's a piece of crap.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME after 2 babies!!
AWESOME!I bought this pump 3 1/2 years ago with my first child and loved it then.Releived engourgment, adequete suction, and horribly convenient! Now with the newborn son, the little pump is still as powefull as ever! In favt, last weekend I went on a retreat with my church, leaving my breastfeed only son at home, and not only did I pump with this little one the entire weekend, a friend ended up using mine as well b/c her (advent) pump was not working! Also, I was able to pump enough so that my 2 month old had plenty of milk at home!I still have 3 Large freezer bags filled with individual 3-4 oz bags of breast milk! Can not say enough good about this pump!!

1-0 out of 5 stars VERY Disappointed
I have a Medela double pump which I LOVE!But it is too big and bulky for travel, etc.So I invested in this pump. And I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in it.First, it is so loud that it is completely impossible to let down and it distracts the baby nursing on the other breast.Second, the suction is horrid, I could barely get any milk out and I know how much milk should be coming out because I pump with the double pump every morning. This was a complete waste of money and the only way you can spare yourself the disappoint is to read these reviews because there is no return!!! ... Keep breast milk safely stored and ready for feeding with thisset of four 5-ounce plastic breast milk containers. Designed to workwith the Medela Breast Pump, each clear plastic bottle comes with twokinds of lids. Use the two-piece plastic lid when milk will be usedwithin a few hours, and use the solid air-tight plastic lid forlong-term storage. An orthodontic, slow-flowing silicone nipple isincluded with each bottle. To keep the bottle sanitary when you'retraveling, a small plastic cap (it can also be used as a cup) fitstightly over the nipple. All items are dishwasher safe, but they're notfor use in a microwave. --Marianne Painter ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Other options
These bottles are great because they're very durable and fit well on the pump.My 8 week old breastfed baby found the nipples easy to latch on to, but the flow occasionally choked him.He does better with the Avent nipples. If you're working full time and looking for some extra bottles to use with your Pump in Style, Babies R Us sells a four pack of Evenflo classic bottles for $3.99 which fit perfectly, are dishwasher safe and also sturdy. They do not, however, come with extra nipples. They're great for storage of fresh breastmilk in the fridge that will be used for the workweek.

5-0 out of 5 stars Satisfied with Medela bottles; change nipples for newborns
I have used these bottles for 3 months (since my son was 1month old). They are pricey, but overall I am glad I purchased them.I probably could have saved money buying cheaper storage containers or another bottle brand and using a conversion attachment to fit my Medela pump (an Avent attachment is available through some Medela distributors or Avent), but I just bought these for convenience.Convenience is important to help continue pumping and breastfeeding, especially if you are returning to work full-time.
My son was overwhelmed with the fast nipples too, so I bought some Gerber orthodontic newborn slow-flow nipples from BBRUS (our pediatrician recommended orthodontic nipples, like the Medela's).Now that he is older, he will probably be ready for the faster Medela nipples soon (note that the hole faces up when feeding from orthodontic nipples - this took us a little while to figure out).
I rarely use the discs that fit inside the collar rings, because I use the coller ring, nipple, and cap for the daycare bottles and the regular solid lids for the bottles I am pumping at work.I have never had a leak, although maybe if I packed the bottles with nipples upside-down this might happen.
If you are returning to work and exclusively breastfeeding, I would recommend investing the money and getting 3 sets of these bottles: 3 or 4 to send to daycare, 3 or 4 to pump at work, and 4 in the freezer (very important to keep an emergency supply frozen, and if they are already in the bottles instead of storage containers, you can just warm it and pop on a nipple).
I also use the Medela Micro-steam bags for quick cleaning of the nipples and pump parts (the bottles and lids are faster to wash with a bottlebrush).

2-0 out of 5 stars Not good for feeding
These bottles are useful for storing milk....they are sturdy and fit in bottle warmers nicely. My baby hates them for feeding, however.I now just use these for storage and then pour the warmed milk into Playtex Nurser bottles.I bought the Medela system when I was pregnant b/c I wanted what was best for my baby...and I was led to believe that Medela nipples would be most like the breast.Um, no.Take one look at them and it's pretty clear. My baby wouldn't even take it in her mouth. She instantly responded to the Playtex nipples, however.Much, much better! ... Editorial Review

When asked which of her baby gifts was the most useful, many a mom will adamantly proclaim it was her Boppy pillow. The experts agree, awarding this pillow the 2001 American Baby Best of the Year Award, Child Magazine’s Readers’ Best Nursing Pillow, and the 1999 National Parenting Publications Gold Award. This pillow can be used right away, when your child is still a newborn, providing a comfortable resting place, and raising baby to just the right height so Moms aren’t bent over in awkward positions. As baby gets older, it supports her during tummy time, or props her up to practice sitting. The pink rosebud pattern on this Boppy is designed more for the feminine set. The fleecy cover is luxuriously soft, and conveniently unzips for washing. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars We're Spoiled to the Boppy
I Love Love Love the Boppy pillow! My baby loves it too, we carry one in the car with us whenever we're out, we lock it around us whenever we're watching a movie, she lays on it while I'm on the computer!(right now)The Boppy is wonderful, I can't imagine nursing without it (okay I have nursed without it, but the Bop was greatly missed).I highly recommend buying a boppy and several slipcovers, cause you'll be washing and changing it quite a bit.

3-0 out of 5 stars Baby loves it, Mom hates it.
I bought the boppy primarily to help me nurse, but I find it very akward to use, it doesn't stay in place and I can't seem to find a comfortable position to nurse with it.So I have given up using it for breastfeeding and am using a simple pillow which works much better. The 3 stars are for baby, because she loves to be propped up and the bobby pillow is perfect for that; the way the pillow "hugs" her makes her feel secure and very comfortable. She has not used it for tummy time yet so I cannot comment on that.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have!!!
This pillow is definitely a must have for any new baby.I have used it for my 2 ½ month old almost daily. It's great for nursing, tummy play and propping her up so she can see the world. It's the perfect thing for her to sit by me while I fold clothes on the bed.I have also used it for my 7 month old niece to sit-up in before she could sit unassisted. She loved it too.I have washed the cover several times without problem. We also use it as a "chair" under her play gyms. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great bouncer
I love this bouncy chair. Our son had a great time playing in this seat. The sounds, lights and hanging toys kept him easily entertained. Very easy to wash! I would recommend this bouncer to consumers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for a baby who loves to kick!
My brother got this for us as shower gift.It has been indispensible! My daughter figured out pretty quickly how to make the music play, and has been mesmerized by it ever since! Now that she is almost three months old, she is starting to kick the toys that hang down, too. It's a really nice way to put her down while I cook or clean, but not have to put her directly on the floor (we have ceramic tile in our kitchen). It's small enough, too, to take places so that she has something to do at grandma's, ect.Between this and the Musical Garden Activity Mat, she is a happy, active baby!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST BOUNCER EVER!
I can't say enough about this bouncer.I have a 6 month old son that is still enjoying this seat.He can get it bouncing so good and just loves to be in it.It cradles him just right and I never worry about him falling out or off.He has been in it all 6 months and I don't know what I would do without it. The bar that you can take off is great for when he wants to play or we take it off for when he wants to bounce. One thing is that if he gets bouncing with the toy bar on, it does kinda get him in the face, but he just lets me know and we take it off.I recomend this bouncer for all new moms needing somewhere to sit their child and feel safe about leaving the room for a moment! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars For ANYONE who wants to have a good outcome with childbirth
This book was very helpful and informative, even though I used a regular doctor and gave birth at a hospital.I think any book that informs and empowers a woman to help her make the choices that are right for her throughout pregnancy and childbirth is a good book.I have referred to it over and over again, and this is my third pregnancy! My copy is pretty beat up because I have loaned it out several times. Some of the things I liked best about this book:

*The section that helps you know what questions to ask and what to look for in a potential caregiver. It is more in depth than most pregnancy books. This section really helps you find out if the doctor or midwife you are considering is really the right one for you.

*The section that deals with nausea and other aches and pains in pregnancy. The author doesn't belittle or patronize you or try to make you think "it's not as bad as you think" or "it's common in pregnancy".Instead, REAL advice is given as to how to remedy these problems in a natural way.

*The section on dealing with labor. This author knows and acknowledges that labor hurts! She gives many choices on how to deal with different labor situations and what to do when something isn't working. There are a lot of options given here that I think many women are not aware of.

This is a great book for a woman who realizes she is in charge of her body and wants to make informed choices during her pregnancy and birth.Information is given about medication and epidurals, pros and cons. The author does not try to persuade you to do it her way, but wants you to make informed decisions so that everything will go YOUR way! ...
