5-0 out of 5 stars Best Of The Best
This is a Great Tent!No better deal out there! If I had known just how truly wonderful this tent was going to be, I would have paid more for it.It's definitely worth every penny.Lots of room, perfect amound of windows, in all of the right places, and even a place to store watches, cell phones, and flashlights in a small compartment in the inside of the main dome, at the top.It is a Great tent that I would not hesitate to buy again.I also bought this exact one for my sister's wedding present.I Absolutely Love This Tent!

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent family tent!
With the assistance of our Coleman, 3-room tent, our family of seven has become avid and enthusiastic campers. This tent is easy to set up and take down -- even for those of us who are mechanically challenged -- is capable of withstanding all but the most severe weather, has a number of useful features (such as the removable interior walls), has plenty of space for our large and active family, and is a great value. We are on our second one, the first having been retired after many years and multiple camping trips in a variety of settings, and look forward to many more years of continued use.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

3-0 out of 5 stars Very nice, but takes waaay too long to set up
Unlike some of the other reviewers, I am by no means a regular camper. In fact, if I set this tent up twice a year, it's a lot.I'm amazed by one reviewer's set-up time of 15 min. because it took me over an hour to complete my setup of both tent and fly.I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I don't think it's supposed to be that difficult to set-up.
One thing's for sure - my family loves the tent with all its room - the kids sleep in one "wing", my wife and I in another, and the dogs and luggage/gear occupy the rest of the main room.Tons of room.Other than some condensation on the outer layer in the morning, we haven't had problems with water either.Great value for the price, too. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
I bought one of these laterns for a 9 day camping trip.It is very easy to use and turns on with a flip of the switch. It is so much nicer than having to worry about finding matches in the dark.It is also great because it fits on the top of a proprone can and you don't have to bother with puting fuel in it.The ingition switch has an automatic flow so there is no need to pump air into it, and the mantles will last longer. The stand is very stable, we used it on a pontoon boat and it sat on the deck with out tiping over even while we were moving. The only down fall that I saw was the brightness of the latern, it was not very bright.About a 3-4 foot radius.A frind of mine had a North Star Latern which actually gives off more light. But over all it is worth the money.I am thinking about buying another one for my next camping trip.

5-0 out of 5 stars This lantern makes a world of difference!
I recently went on a group car camping trip and had an exceptional time with this lantern- it provides a great source of light, allowing the fun to continue later (or at least until 11PM!) in the night. I definitely recommend this lantern for any trip to the woods- much better than fumbling with flashlights and candles! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Could be better but does the job.
I've been looking for a folding, portable table ever since I saw the one my mom got from Target a few years ago. Her's is metal (this one untreated wood)and similar to this one but far superior in quality and only cost $20.This table is a little to short and once it is set up becomes a little flimsy. If I hadn't seen one of these tables before I bought this one, I wouldn't see as many flaws. All in all, its small, portable, great for camping, light, and does the job it is suppose to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Couldn't be easier!
We use this table when we are grilling outside - we have an electic grill, which fits nicely on the top of the table. There's room for plates, marinades, and all the other tools you need for a summertime barbeque! It puts up and breaks down in seconds, and spends its time snug in its bag.We also plan to take it camping and to evening concerts with our bag chairs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brains & Beauty
Excellent little table of brilliant design, living-room pretty, andpractical to a fault.I loved how the storage/carrying bag is divided toprotect the wooden tabletop from scratches in transit.Setup and knockdownare magically instant, and it was a stroke of genius to include thehow-to-refold instructions on a permanent fabric tag inside the storage bagso no lost papers or moments of stupidly trying to remember how to get itback into the bag.Deserves design awards, for sure. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars about the propane gas?
I need some answer to this Question?is it possible to use liquid petrolium gas instead of propane gas in this model coz that's the only one available in the place where I'm going overseas.I want to know before I purchase it.thank you for informations.

5-0 out of 5 stars Homework, Baseball, and the Coleman Stove
We use the Coleman Grill Stove at my son's baseball games.During week nights with homework and all the schedule works well for families on the team to share dinner after the game.We cook hotdogs and burgers on the grill for about 30 to 40 people. The kids love it and my wife has been voted team MOM the last couple of seasons.I love the fact that cool spring evenings or cooler fall evenings we can have hot water for tea, cider, or coffee. With the burner we can not only grill but provide chili for the dogs or what have you.We use a larger white style propane tank (I think 2 gallon) and it works and takes us through a season.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gotta be a Coleman!
If you're a camping family, you own something Coleman! In the last year I've bought a coleman tent, sleeping bags, mattresses, cooler, lantern, and the amazing powercat heater. Now I own this stove, replacing separate propane grill and butane stove, and saving precious cargo space. HOT! Sturdy, both the grill plate and stove grate are substantial. The lid is removeable and latches securely for carrying(via the handle under the grill!). Line the area under the grill with foil and there's no clean-up! One curious note is that it won't stand on it's edge, so you're laying it flat or leaning it against something when not in use. There is an optional griddle available to replace the grill, makes it perfect for eggs/pancakes!
Coleman simply has THE best products for family camping, and when my child is old enough for the backcountry...we'll be using coleman exponent! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Heater
I bought this heater in an emergency when out of town and heater went out in my car (and the windchill was -20f) it worked great not that I would recommend it for that use like I said it was an emergency. I have also used this in the tent and it works like a dream, and puts out quite a bit of heat (no more cold damp sleeping bags at bedtime) If I were to change one thing it would be to make the fan more powerful (yes I would be willing to put in more batteries even)<br /> <br /> Kat<br /> BTW for the guy with a gripe about the can not lasting 8 hours the box states UP to 8 hours and actually it does last that long on a fresh can on the lowest possible heat setting

4-0 out of 5 stars Heats great, but found small problem
I've taken this heater camping about 4 times and it works great. I try not to use it all night, so I turn it on while we are getting ready to go to sleep and keep it on for an hour. I then turn it off and turn it back on in the morning for about 30 minutes before getting up. The push-button starter is very useful and allows me to turn it on fairly quick without having to look for a match or lighter. This unit stands on the floor and blows the heat at an angle. This is great since it can heat the tent across the sleeping bads. Other units heat up and you don't get the heat across the tent and it goes straight up to the ceiling of the tent. However, the threads on the unit where the propane bottle attaches are wearing off. I'm having problems attaching the propane cans as they fit in an angle and are hard to align.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good heater, but...
This heater is great. It puts out a good amount of heat, and the fan does a good job of projecting that heat. My only gripe is the advertised life of a can of propane. It's supposed to last up to eight hours in this heater, but it hasn't come close yet. If you're lucky, you'll get six hours. It sucks when it goes out in the middle of the night and the fan continues to blow cold air. This thing is great as long as you plan on getting up once in the middle of the night to change the propane can. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars if you like Scrabble ... you should get this
Lots of fun...you can save games from one month to another. You also get quite the reaction when people just randomly see you playing scrabble places.

2-0 out of 5 stars great idea but extremely frustrating
We recently took the folio version with us to Italy and spend a lot of time crawling on our hands and knees (including in the plane!) looking for "popped out" tiles.Tiles are difficult to inserset, difficult to move around, pop out when you do not want them to, but are difficult to pop out when you want them to.How about a magnetic version? Was one ever made?

4-0 out of 5 stars fuTILE losses
First off, I love this game.It has usurped my cat from my lap many a time....at first she liked the little clicking noises but now she hears them and curls up close but not on me.

Right away I noticed one 'O' tile that would not click into place unless it was turned on its side.Since it was a manufacturer's error, I figured it would be a simple thing to replace it.Nope.The game store could not help me and the 800 number was literally always suspiciously busy.
Ah, well, I can live with a lazy 'O'.

Then - I went camping and popped an 'N'after darkat Mt. Rainier. The next morning's search was, you got it, futile.Perhaps the chipmunks at Ohanapecosh are still marveling over their find.

Ah, well, it's easy enough to use a placer and stick the 'N' back in the bag after it is drawn once.

9 months have passed and more tiles have jumped ship.I'm getting very good at counting letters after every 5 games or so.Although I've found most errant tiles, right now I am using various little Lego pieces for an 'N, L, C and P'.Idid find the Milton-Bradley website and discovered I can not replace the tiles unless I buy a whole set for $7.95....which I know in this day and age is not all that much to most people, but to me it is.And there is the principle of the thing, the man who made the game was out of work and counting his pennies, and I think he would understand my hesitancy to buy tiles I do not need.

I'll do it, though...and partially rationalize the purchase by estimating that at my rate of losses, I will need to replace and, therefore, use the full set of 100 tiles in 20 to 25 years.I expect to still be alive - I'll take a chance on still being able to see.

My suggestion:Put a cute little bag of , say, 5 blank tiles in with every game. They can be trainer tiles. Then a black marker pen could readily resolve any angst over futile losses.

PSI love my own personal game...it has character., it has color.Maybe I'll wait a bit to order that new set of tiles....

    Editorial Review

If you're using the 1991 edition or the 1978 original, you're woefully behind the Scrabble-playing times. With more than 100,000 2- to 8-letter words, there are some interesting additions ("aargh," "aarrgh," and "aarrghh" are all legitimate now), while words they consider offensive are no longer kosher. Why subscribe to the Scrabble dictionary's changeable lexicon? Well, it ends the argument of whose dictionary to use, but the main reason is that it's the winner's dictionary, and why play Scrabble if not to win? Memorize those 2- and 3-letter words, and your Scrabble game becomes lethal. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Essential
This dictionary is an essential reference for any serious or even frequent Scrabble player.

The biggest advantage of this particular dictionary is that it standardizes what is acceptable when playing.Anyone who has ever played without an agreement on what constitutes the acceptable words knows that there are far too many dictionaries out there to easily agree upon one without an official one such as this.

That being said, it is not a dictionary that one can use to get definitions of words. Many times it will only define one usage of a word even when there are others as its purpose is to define what is acceptable in Scrabble play.

It is invaluable in terms of listing words that a regular Scrabble player needs to know such as two letter words, 'Q' words that don't require a 'U', etc.

One who is a frequent player will probably want to supplement this by getting a list of two letter words from the National Scrabble Association. That is definitely a good idea as it would be very difficult to be a very competent player without knowing all of those.

This dictionary does list countless words that a player may need in different situations such as qat, suq, zyzzyva, etc.

It certainly does need to be updated. There are lots of words that have become commonplace in recent years that are not in this such as spam, email, blog, latte, etc.

It is still the best out there for Scrabble players and is really an essential for playing the game.

3-0 out of 5 stars Annoyingly outdated, but you most likely need it.
Recently I was playing my computerized Scrabble opponent Mavin (Atari's Scrabble Deluxe game) when I put down the word "email".ZAP!I lost my turn. Why?Because this word is not in the Official Scrabble Player's Dictionary (OSPD).But had I played the word "kerb" (to provide with curbing) or kex (a dry, hollow stalk), or "syren" (an acceptable spelling for siren), I would have been able to play out my turn.I also learned the hard way that you can't use "FAQ"* as in "frequently asked questions" but you can use "hath", "a present 3d person sing. of have" that probably hasn't been used in a sentence since Samuel Morse invented the telegraph in 1844.And don't even think of playing the word "spam"!

But, it's important to play Scrabble with a standardized lexicon of acceptable words, so I begrudgingly use the latest third edition, a decade old though it is.And how else would one know that "outcurse" (to surpass one in cursing) and "outbleat" (to surpass one in bleating) are acceptable Scrabble words?

As you can tell from the definitions I've listed, the OSPD is not a conventional dictionary. They don't give the year the word was coined, the etymology, or multiple definitions. You just get a part of speech and a bare-bones common definition, along with acceptable suffixes and forms of the word. For example, acceptable suffixes for outcheat are-ED, -ING and -S.It's extremely easy to use, with the words listed in all capital letters, just like in the Scrabble game.

One fine use of this dictionary, other than settling disputes and debunking the phony words my human opponent likes to make up, is improving my game.Memorizing a bunch of the Q words has come in quite handy.Even memorizing a word or two a day from the OSPD would help.

Recommendation: If you can get all your opponents to agree on another dictionary, you might not need the OSPD. However, if you play the computerized version of Scrabble, want to eventually advance to tournament play, or simply want to use the standard official dictionary for Scrabble play, you'll need the OSPD.

*Yes, I know FAQ is technically an acronym, but so is "scuba" which is an official scrabble word.

P.S.As pointed out in some previous reviews, do not use this dictionary for school!(Nor for business writing, medical school applications, etc.)You don't want to be kicked to the kerb!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have If You Play Scrabble
Scrabble allows many 2 and 3 letter words as well as longer words that are unusual. You must have this Players Dictionary or similar source to learn and challenge these words. If you play Scrabble on line the acceptable words are most likely based on this dictionary. Hasbro has this dictionary available on line for those who are interested. Search Hasbro Scrabble. ... Polly is headed for a picnic accompanied by a handsome young fellow identified on the box as "her new friend Steven." And Steven is bound to be a good friend for some time to come as long as he keeps getting access to accessories such as these. Not only does the pair get to travel in style in a sporty SUV, they've also packed in-line skates to have more fun when they arrive at the picnic locale. They're dressed in cool summer clothes but also come equipped with plastic jackets, shoes, and long pants in case the weather turns brisk. A simple spread of plastic food has been toted along, although it looks like this pair may be too busy to eat. Best of all, Steven wears a shirt with "Steven" printed on it in big letters in case Polly or you forget who he is. --John Moe ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars All you need for a trip to the White Mountains
I just returned from my first trip to the White Mountains, and this book was the best thing I took with me.I stuck to day-hikes only, and found the information in the book to be the most helpful guide I had.The beginning gives an overview of the region, and tips for anyone planning to hike in the White Mountains.I'm glad I bought the book before I arrived, so I was able to make sure I had the necessary equipment to keep me safe and comfortable on my hikes. Experienced hikers may not need the advice, but novice hikers and those not accustomed to the perils of hiking above the treeline will appreciate it.

The rest of the book is devoted to trail descriptions.Lots of them.Although I carried the book and the maps with me on every hike, I found the information was most useful when I was planning my hikes.Once I found the trails (with the help of the guide), they were so well marked that I didn't need to consult the maps.I also used the maps throughout my trip, even when I wasn't hiking.I didn't need to purchase a road map since everything I needed was included.

After I had hiked a trail or two, I learned to "interpret" the descriptions, and figure out what would be the challenging sections of trails. The description of the first hike I choose didn't sound too tough, but I found myself hanging onto a boulder with only one hand and calling my husband back to help me.The description of this section is simply: "leaving the trees, it climbs over open rocks.."There are a few trails that come with serious cautions, such as the paragraph devoted to the Huntington Ravine Trail on the side of Mt. Washington.

The one odd thing lacking from the book is the fact that AMC operates shuttles that can take hikers down from the summit of Mt. Washington (for a fee, and providing the summit isn't closed to auto traffic).I descended on foot, but it seems strange that an AMC book overlooks an AMC service, especially since all of the other AMC operations are mentioned.

The book has a few suggested hikes for each area of the White Mountains, broken down into easy, moderate, and hard.Since this was my first visit, I stuck to these trails.I found them all to be enjoyable.

I can't wait to return, for more hiking. This book makes it possible.Anyone going to the area should purchase it prior to arriving, and keep it handy at all times.

Tilia FoodSaver Vac 550 Kit Vacuum Sealing System

    Editorial Review

Ingenious and simple to operate, Tilia's FoodSaver system seals food inside containers after vacuuming out the air--and the oxygen that causes foods to spoil. That means food stays fresh longer than when it's merely refrigerated or frozen. Meat, for example, remains good in the freezer for about six months; frozen inside a vacuum package, it remains good for two to three years--and it doesn't suffer freezer burn, either. Fish, coffee, cheese, crackers, sugar, nuts, oils, and wine all stay fresh three to five times longer when stored in a vacuum, whether they're frozen, refrigerated, or at room temperature. Also, silverware and other metal items won't tarnish when stored in a vacuum-sealed bag.

Like all FoodSaver machines, this one vacuums air from containers and seals bags with a simple one-touch operation. The machine measures 15 by 5-1/2 by 3-1/2 inches, weighs 5 pounds, has a cord-storage compartment, and cleans easily with a damp, soapy cloth. It carries a one-year warranty against defects. An instruction booklet and video accompany the machine.

The basic FoodSaver container is Tilia's three-layer VacLoc bag: it has two plastic layers and an outer nylon layer to keep moist foods (such as meat loaf or chocolate cake) moist, dry foods (such as brown sugar or flour) dry, and all foods from leaking odor. Included in this kit is one 11- by 10-inch roll for bagging, three quart size bags, and two gallon bags. For cooking, the bags can go directly into a microwave oven or boiling water. They're resealable, reusable, and dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product! + Helpful hints.
Excellent product! I've had a Tilia FoodSaver Vac for about 5 years (I asked for it for my birthday) and have never had a problem with it. If the person who said that one corner didn't seal will check the rubber on the lid, it may have slid to one side and isn't making contact with the bag when trying to seal it. This would make it not seal completely. Most reviewers don't offer hints to make using the Tilia FoodSaver Vac more economical or practical so here are some suggestions: (1) When making a bag, if the meat(as an example) is a steak 8 inches long, make the bag at least 12 inches long. The reason for this is that the bags can be washed and reused over and over until they're too small for anything to fit in and still seal.
    (2) After sealing the bag, there is about an inch of waste bag material on the end you just sealed so take a felt tip marker and write on that end, what it is, the weight, and the date. When you open the bag to use the "meat", cut off the end you wrote on, wash the bag, reuse it and write on the new end when you seal it again. (3) For sanitary purposes even though I wash the bag, when I reuse it for meat, I wrap the meat in plastic wrap before putting it in the bag. (4) If you want to put liquid in a bag for sealing, put the liquid in a zip lock bag and freeze it and when it's frozen, take the contents out of the zip lock and put it in a Tilia FoodSaver Vac bag and seal it as you normally would. If you try to seal a liquid in the bag unfrozen, the vac will pull the liquid into the motor and ruin it. I hope this helps some of you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great machine and easy to use
I have had my FoodSaver for a few years now.My husband and I use it often.Meats keep so much longer, without getting freezer burn, than freezing meats in the celo. wraps that they come in at the grocery store. We also now buy big packages of meat - steak, chicken, pork - at a wholesale club....We bring it all home and then pack it in bags of two pieces of meat. Then, all we have to do it take a bag out of the freezer and thaw it when we want to cook. The meat is as fresh as when we bought it.

The only thing that I have not tried with this machine is using it with a container and not a bag.I really haven't had a need to do that.

I did discover that it is not good to try to seal a fresh loaf of bread in one of the bags....It mushes the bread. However, I found a way around this.I freeze my bread overnight in a regular plastic bag.The next day, once the bread is frozen, I put the bread in a FoodSaver bag, vacuum the air out and seal it.

All in all, a great machine to have....It saves your frozen food!

5-0 out of 5 stars Totally awesome machine!!
This machine is easy to use and saves a ton of money when you have to freeze things and freezer burn is a concern. I have kept fresh salmon up to a year in a bag,and steaks I put them in marinade then freeze them they come out very tender and good.
Also great to buy ground meat on sale and use these bags to make dinner sized portions, your ground meat will never freezer burn!
    Thanks

5-0 out of 5 stars Coleman maintains its cool
I've had this cooler for about six months. I find it to be a lot classier and better made than the plastic cooler it replaced. Despite what seems like a loose lid and flimsy latch, this cooler maintains it's cool in the heat, which is the primary reason I bought it. The lid is solidly hinged. I gave it five stars because it's a good deal for the money (I paid ~$85). Though someone complained that this cooler is not bear-proof, I have to ask whether there is such a thing. I recommend this to anyone who wants to have a reliable, good-looking cooler.

5-0 out of 5 stars classy and functional
We bought this to sit out on the porch when we have guests over (frees up space in the fridge), it's awesome!!Guests make comments about it all the time.Oh, and it keeps things cold too--definitely longer than a plastic cooler.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really keeps things cold for a long time
We bought one of these a year ago because 1) it was really stylush and 2) because my fiance believes that the steel coolers are better than the plastic ones. And she was totally right. Ice last a LONG time in the steel cooler. I'm sure a lot of it is due to the fact that it's silver and reflects the sun and heat.

We liked it so much, we got a second one and took it with us to the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert, where it was quite hot. The steel cooler performed great. My only slight complaint is mentioned in other reviews is that the latch is kind of wimpy. It's not gonna spill your stuff, but it can be forced open easily. I wish they sold a non child proof replacement latch.

Anyway, after a week in the desert, we STILL had a little block ice left in second cooler. Mind you we didnt' open this one as much, but I was shocked to find ice in it after a week in the black rock desert.

This cooler rocks. Give it an option for a non child proof latch and it would be unbeatable! ... Read more

This flashlight was made to specs that do not consider the size of D cell batteries. So, the batteries shake around. The poor contact mades it flicker and dim frequently

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for kids and camping.
Mydaughter needed a flashlight for summer camp 4 years ago. This works well, and for a really good price. The other girls liked that this one also does double duty as a lantern, for schlepping to the bathroom and late night walks over a suspension bridge.Seems they all preferd the lantern to regular a flashlight. My niece wants one for camp now.

Seems quite durable, have had it for 4 years and it has lasted through 3 sessions at camp, several outdoor activities and no idea what else she may have put it through. It has been knocked on walls, dropped 2 stories, still can not believe it made it survived that.

They had no complaints, and seemed quite pleased with this. I recommend for going to summer camp or just overnight in the backyard on the trampoline. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

This is the tool that started the Leatherman revolution. Despite the introduction of new and more elaborate models from Leatherman, the Original remains a popular tool. We like the tough, compact design of the Original, as well as the high quality of the blades and tools. The jaws of the pliers are extremely tough. The Original packs a pretty impressive assortment of tools, including wire cutters, a knife, a metal/wood file, a can/bottle opener, an awl/punch, a nice assortment of Phillips screwdrivers, and more--all perfect for quick, on-the-spot jobs. It's true that the big knife blade would be more effective if it faced the other way, and that having to open the whole thing to get at any of the tools is less than ideal (both issues have been addressed in Leatherman's Wave). But it wasn't so long ago that the Original Leatherman was the only choice, and it's still a great addition to any toolbox, remaining just as handy as when it first came out. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Wondeful little tool
Put your Swiss Army Knife dreams to rest and instead buy this handy little tool, that packs convienance and utility into a package that's a mere 4" by 2" and comes with a sleek carrying case.

I've had Victorinox tools before, and sure they look nice, but they can't hold a candle to the Leatherman in terms of sheer utility. The leatherman includes a knife, a file, scissors (effective, sharp scissors at that), several screwdrivers of varying sizesin both Phillips and Slothead, a bottle-opener, and of course the integral pliers and wire-cutter.

The tool is stong, the wire-cutters can cut through metal (I was bored and chewed through some pennies), and more importantly, very safe. When using the knife or screwdrivers, one does not have to worry about applying too much pressure and forcing the blade down on a finger, for closing the tool with the blade outside prevents injury.Highly reccomended.

4-0 out of 5 stars Letherman, The Original and Still The Best
I received my first Leatherman PST in 1994. I have carried it almost everyday since. If I forget it at home, it is like leaving the house without your watch, you soon realize just how frequently you use it.

The only negative thing I can say about this tool, is that the blades and the screwdrivers don't lock in place. This is less critical with the blades because you push against the blade and it stays put. However, the screwdrivers do need to be locked down when you are cranking hard on a stuck screw. The tool will sometimes close up, pinching your fingers (this is the reason I give the PST 4 stars instead of 5). You can tighten the hinge to prevent this, but then the tool is harder to open and close, and hinders single handed operation.

****UPDATE 10/20/03 My PST is from 1994. I "believe" the newer PST has a different type of screwdriver, that is angled to reduce the possibility of it closing up on you (But I still like the Wave better)****

The best way to deal with this is to get the better Leatherman; the Wave. It has locking screwdrivers and is more comfortable in your hand when clamping down on the pliers. Not to mention it has more features.

If you are a "tinkerer" or "a fixer" type person, you need a Leatherman. Trust me, get the wave, you will own it forever and you won't regret it.

I am a professional and often wear business attire, the belt case hides nicely right next to my beeper. If I lost my Leatherman right now, I would stop on my way home and pick up another one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply The Best
If your wondering which brand to buy between Leatherman And SwissTool etc. well can I just suggest you watch any programs on Discovery Channel about explorers or adventure sports participants and see which one they chose. I have only seen leatherman.

I personally have owned the PST for about 4years and only recently had the misfortune of chipping the head on one of the screwdrivers from well a little misuse (opening a screw that was to big for the head) I sent it back to leatherman and they not only fixed the driver but sent me a whole new tool in replacement which means all the wear and tear such as a slightly blunt blade are now all gone.

I like the new 20th aniv. Wave so I just bought it along with the P4 which is a cool little keying, lets just hope they serve me as well as the PST has and will continue to do. ... Read more

This handy little invention is small enough to slip into your pocket or tuck in a picnic basket. First and foremost a sturdy and reliable stainless-steel corkscrew, this versatile tool also boasts a foil cutter and bottle opener--like a Swiss Army Knife for beverages. 2-0 out of 5 stars Good Grip - Too Short on Business End
I've broken a few corks with this tool, as the "worm" doesn't reach the bottom of some corks. Other foil cutters are easier to use. Like most OXO tools, this one feels comnfortable and steady in the hand. If you're opening an older bottle or one that has a particularly long cork, use another corkscrew.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality value.
This is a sturdy, handy, and small corkscrew that also comes equipped with a bottle opener and a foil cutter. Its size is excellent to keep at home or to take on picnics and trips, and its corkscrew has a sharp point that goes into all kinds of corks without breaking them, even the really old ones. Its bottle opener is very easy to use, and its foil cutter, a couple of wheels with sharp edges recessed into the screw's handle, although requiring some practice, offers a clean, safe alternative to the traditional rusty knife.
Like the rest of the products from the OXO Good Grips line, this one is a great value of superior quality, unsurpassed durability and flawless performance. Its ergonomic design and big, pressure-absorbing, outstanding non-slip grip, allow you comfortable, daily, wet or dry use, and it's elegant, stylized shape makes it perfect to move back and forth between the kitchen and the dinner table.
Its easy-to-clean, simple construction and dishwasher-safe, hard-wearing materials make this a tool that you will be able to depend on for years, and its stainless-steel metal parts will permanently keep your rust worries away.
After submitting this product to over two years of normal everyday use, mine is still just like new.

3-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Quality, Poor Design
I am a bartender and I work with this OXO for 3 month now. You dont want to know how many times i stung myself with this needle - eh - cork screw. Band-aid became my second best friend.
I partly agree to previous comments: I miss a small knife instead of the foil cutter. Although the cutter itself works okay, unless you need to open waxed bottle tops (Knob Creek)

I like the feel and sturdyness, but this is not a professional tool designed by professionals. I will buy something else today. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

If you're under the impression that the Northeast's natural beauty has given way to high-rises, condominiums, and suburban sprawl, this volume will certainly change your mind. In actuality, the area comprising Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont--New England, in short--is home to an abundance of flora and fauna, whether it be marine life below sea level or alpine meadows above the tree line. In fact, New England is nothing less than a naturalist's paradise. Much of the area has been scoured by glacial ice, leaving behind cirques, ar&ecirc;tes, and a fjord, all of which are featured in a geology section. Fossils are highlighted too, alerting readers to the presence of dinosaur footprints in both Hadley, Massachusetts and Rocky Hill, Connecticut. In addition, an easy-to-use field guide assists readers in the identification of 1,000 of the area's current inhabitants, including giant puffball mushrooms, a healthy sampling of conifers and hardwoods, and five species of shark. Field trip ideas, from secluded Baxter State Park (no paved roads, no hook-ups, no gas or groceries) to popular Acadia National Park in Maine, complete the picture. All this is compiled in a single volume that's perfect for both armchair naturalists and those planning actual trips to the area. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, BUT missing something...
I am pleased that the NAS published this comprehensive guide to my native area.It contains a great deal of information that any nature lover can relatively easily stick in their pocket. However, my complaint is that nowhere is there any reference to our two poisonous spiders... the famed Black Widow and the Brown Recluse.WE have them in abundance and the guide does not address these creatures. SHAME! These are very important arachnids in our environment and I am disappointed that the NAS omitted them.

5-0 out of 5 stars If it's out there, it's in here!
Simply an AMAZING book! there's a little bit about a lot of things! Weather, geology, flora and fauna, star charts, sea shells! While you'll need a more specific field guide for your particular interest, this is the one book to have from the beach to the mountains.
Probably an adequate bird guide for hikers, and an adequate hiking guide for birders.

5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely useful!
First of all, I can't believe that there are color pictures of every tree, plant, bird, reptile, insect and animal listed in this book. That is SO helpful. There is information on geography, geology, tides, National Parks, weather patterns, patterns of the stars in the night sky for every season, and so on and so on. How could they fit all this info in this tiny book??? It is bound wonderfully and doesn't exactly fit into a jean's back pocket (comes close though!).

Unfortunatley there are just too many birds in nature that look the same, so I can't tell by the book's brief descriptions and photos which bird I see. But generally I can narrow it down to at least 3.

I LOVE the ink/shadow drawings of the different trees "skeletons"! Obviously it is hard to see a tree's outline in the summer with all the leaves, but all winter I would match up the bare trees to their corresponding drawings in the book! I am becoming quite an expert now.

This book is TOPS in my ever expanding library. I bring it with me everywhere I travel in New England...because you just never know when you may need it for reference. If you live in New England, you NEED to buy this! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money!!!!!!!
I purchased this model on 12/21/03 and it started to black out on me in May.After getting some tips from Customer Service it was working again but I had to reprogram it on a regular basis; any DVD over 30 mins would make the screen go black. This is a frustrating process when you have a 5 yr old yelling "Daddy the screen is black".

When I called Customer Service back earlier this month they told me they have a warranty extended plan where you send the model back with $49.00 and they will replace it with a new one.It sounded great but why would I spend more money on a product that doesn't work well?I went ahead and ordered the Panasonic LS50 7" Portable DVD Player instead and it's like night and day. This DVD has features the Initial product doesn't have like QUALITY!DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY on this product, go for quality and get the Panasonic.

1-0 out of 5 stars Junk!
I purchased this item from WalMart and it worked for one movie and now we get a few seconds of viewing and then the black screen. It was over 30 days before we initially used it and so now WalMart is not willing to exchange or refund.I see I am not the only one with this problem so I would HIGHLY reccommend buying a more reputable brand DVD player. You get what you pay for and this one is junk!

5-0 out of 5 stars Found Replacement Remote for Initial 5820!!!
First of all, let me just say that I have owned this unit for about a year and a half and I have never had a single problem - although the battery is getting a little weak I think.

I currently use it to play DVDs and MP3s.I have found that you NEED the remote control to do many functions that are not available on the main unit. While listening to an MP3 for example (or probably even a CD or DVD), you must have the remote in order to 'fast-forward'.The controls on the main unit only allow you to 'skip' to the next file.

Anyway, I travel a lot, and LOST my "waffer-thin" remote control! After doing and extensive search on the Internet, I was unable to find a website for 'Initial', BUT I did manage to find a place where you can order a new remote (...) ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars good value
It's a good value, not super high quality. I tried to cook bacon in the large skillet and it got seriously scorched (the pan and the bacon.) The pan now has permanent black residue on the bottom inside. The handle works well. I like the variety of sizes in the set. Unfortunately the "non-stick" surface is pretty sticky.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Tent Camping
I used this set on a camping trip and am real happy with the quality and performance for a set of pots and pans in this price range. The set has a nice weight and feel. The handle works well and doesn't feel flimsy. The largest pot was large enough for me to boil corn on the cobb with out snapping them in two. Don't turn the heat up past medium, use plastic tools, non-abrasive sponges, keep lined when storing and they will give you years of service. Well worth the $20 they cost me. I've spent more on a bad movie.

1-0 out of 5 stars Non-Stick- NOT! Not even close.
I tried to fry a couple of eggs in the pan after spaying it with PAM and preheating it.The results were stuck-on burning egg. Thought it just an accident with the eggs, until I used the larger pot to boil water for noodles and that pan was also ruined.Note: I was attempting to cook with them on a Colmen Stove. Since I have bought other real non-stick cookware (Non-Camping) at Target with heavier bases and have no problems and with true non-stick easy clean-up. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not perfect, but better than most
Petzl's Tikka series lamps are hard to beat for function, price, and practicality.Sure, there are lighter weight LED-type lights out there that use watch batteries, but standard AAA batteries are much easier to come by when you're camping/trekking in out of the way places than a specific type of watch battery. The burn time is phenomenal, compared to conventional incandescent lamps, and the Zipka lamp is a very ingenious little headlamp, with its retracting strap and tiny size. They both put out a good field of usable light, and it stays bright for most of the battery life (usually 100-150 hours). As for the criticism that the Tikka line does not have a multiple intensity or flashing setting, or an adjustable angle, Petzl has introduced "Tikka Plus" and "Zipka Plus" lines which offer all of those features, though at a slightly higher price, with slightly more weight and a little bit shorter burn times. They've improved the switch too, for the plus models to allow for the multiple function settings, eliminating the original less-than-perfect slide switch, and the possibility of the lamp turning itself on by mistake.I own several lights in this series, the Tikka, the Zipka, and recently, a Zipka Plus, and I use them constantly whether bicycling, reading in my tent, hiking down a trail at night, or running tv cable in my crawlspace and have nothing but praise for each light.

    5-0 out of 5 stars great/useful light
I recently bought this light and it has been a very pleasant experience. I use it for reading late at nite and for working/fixing things around the house (it is 20 times easier to get light in the place you want it with this rather than with your wife trying to point the light at what you need it pointed at).Overall a good product.

4-0 out of 5 stars Junky switch + Great light = One Heck of a Problem
It's true (as many before me have said) that the switch is pure hell.Flickering everytime I turn it on.Sometimes the light seems very dim until I mess with the switch and realize it's just not 'contacting' well.

The problem is I LOVE the light.I'm too stupid and cheap to throw it away.So I continue on and suffer every night (since I usually use it as a reading light).

Go ahead and buy it.It's nice. It's blue and the light it great. But you've been warned about that darn switch... ... Read more
