3-0 out of 5 stars Well, uh...
This game is cute. Really it is. It's music is adorable too. For me it was a little difficult being that I was eating at the same time but heck. It's graphics are a little out dated, and the story line a little weak, but I guess it is okay.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cute and fun game!
The reason I love this game is because I love Hello Kitty, and I love video games! In this game, you must help Hello Kitty get out of an uncharted island by gathering differrent items in 11 stages of the game. But watch out for those blocks, they could be trouble! The bonus rounds are a bit hard, but hey, you can deal! This game rocks! It's enteraining, graphic rich, the perfect video game! Don't quit when you're stuck, because your prize is worth while!

5-0 out of 5 stars cool game!
Cube Frenzy is a Tetris-like puzzle game with a very high cute factor! I was at first interested in this game because I am a big fan of Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty and Badtz Maru. I was happy to find that it isnot only fun, but challenging too. As you beat each level, you getdifferent Kitty's to play with and in Extra mode you unlock differentcharacters too. I like to play as Purin! Anyways, the most challenging isto play on the "Hard" difficulty level because you have to obtainall the prizes in a certain order. Also, the music really stays in yourbrain, which may be a blessing or curse... you decide!:) ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great game for Hello kitty LOVERS!
This game is great for kids who love hello kitty. We had trouble finding it,but my daughter loves it.Ithink if you love hello kitty you gotta have it.

2-0 out of 5 stars For Hello Kitty collectors only
Yes, I love Hello Kitty...Unfortunately, "Hello Kitty Cube Frenzy" is just another Tetris-style cartridge that doesn't quite deliver.

There's a large problem--but not NewKidCo's fault--in the basic design of this game. As gameplayers, we want and expect a Tetris-type game...an easy and familiar gameplaying concept...but "Hello Kitty Cube Frenzy" is different enough from Tetris to frustrate. I'm willing of course to admit this is *my* fault in coming to the game...unique design twists on old games and familiar gameplay are always something to be applauded. What *is* NewKidCo's fault is the spotty and anemic instructions that are poorly written and complicated. I pride myself on being able to play any Game Boy game for the first time *without* reading the instructions, but even after studying the booklet, I was confused and baffled by the gameplay.

Another major negative point is a difficulty level far beyond the age group for which this is geared (well, *I* couldn't get past the fourth level at all, but an eight-year-old might surprise me--I like a *challenging* game, but not an infuriatingly *frustrating* one). Tiny, tiny characters and weak use of color were also a disappointment (quiet pastels do *not* translate well to the Game Boy Color). Finally, the 'cube stacking' concept simply doesn't lend itself to Hello Kitty at all. It seems a concept shoehorned onto the character to sell a game to Sanrio fans. I was hoping for gameplay that involved Hello Kitty as a specific character, but here she could be replaced by any number of light-pixeled characters: Mario, Yoshi, Kirby, maybe even Lara Croft.

In short, if you're a Sanrio collector who *must* have ever Hello Kitty item ever made, go ahead, buy this one. If you're a gameplayer who's looking for an involving and rewarding cartridge, borrow it from a friend, because you'll tire of it quickly.

I'm a big fan of Hello Kitty and am so happy sh'e finally got a game on GBC!The game is very much like Tetris and keeps you on your toes.Don'tget this game thinking it's an easy or "girl" game! It's verytough and gets only tougher as you progress! If you are looking for achallenge though, this one is for you.

The story pannels are very prettyand really show off the characters (even though the story is pretty weak),but in actual game play the sprites are exremely small and it's hard totell who is who. This adds to the frustration factor, and increases thedifficulty.Let's hope this isn't the last we see of Hello Kitty, thisgame proves there is a lot that can be done with the license. ... What's next? All that's missing from your doll here is torn fishnet stockings and you-know-whats in her purse. Why can't little girls just be little girls, and wait til they enter high school to look like racey tarts?
Do you really feel five year old girls will find the hip-high slit in her skirt necessary or appealing?

5-0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Nursery Clock
So, I bought this clock for my daughter's nursery because I wanted to be able to see the time and duration of her middle-of-the-night feedings without having to turn a light on.Its red LED display let me easily see the time and watch the minutes pass as I nursed her.Plus the lemon slice is a night light so I didn't have to stumble into a pitch-dark room either.I don't have a Hello Kitty theme to the room, but the pink and white colors go perfectly. Now that she's 2yrs old, she knocks it over frequently, and it is also very durable, I've discovered! My only complaint is that you can't switch the nightlight off when you don't want/need it anymore.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Clock/Radio EVER!
This clock/radio is so cute! The lemon on the brim of the tea cup is a nightlight!I have had mine for a few years and have never had a problem with it.It gets good radio reception, has a battery back up for when the electricity goes out, and the snooze button is a 3-D Hello Kitty figure. If you love Hello Kitty as much as me, you need to add this to your collection!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great buy
I love Hello Kitty. It's fun to wake up to my favorite character. It's got pretty good reception. The anntenae is in the cord and the sleep mode is excellent. If you don't want to wake up to an annoying buzzer, you can slid the switch to auto, set the radio station and the time, and wake up to your favorite station. If you don't want to slide the switch to off in the morning just hit the Alarm/Reset button and it will automatically set for the same time tomorrow ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Not just for Hello Kitty fanatics
My four-year-old daughter had never seen Hello Kitty before, but we love comparing versions of fairy tales, so this seemed right up our alley. And she loved it.And who am I kidding, so did I.In addition to the usual really cute characters and simple messages like "be a good friend" or "be careful what you ask for", it has those sly adult humor asides that Disney sometimes uses to great effect (and I don't mean adult as in naughty, but adult as in sophisticated).I can still stand to watch it the thousandth time. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars cute and educational
This is a great book for kids to learn their colors with. Each page is dedicated to a color with many items for them to point out. It goes beyond the basic red apple type of items with lipsticks, flamingos and other fun things for kids to learn.

While it isn't a cardboard kid's book, it is made very sturdy. The paper pages are thick and do not tear very easily, which makes it last a good long time.

This book was purchased for a new baby to have in her collection, but her four year old sister loves it too. Of course the four year old already knows her colors, but she still picks this book up and asks me to read it to her.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
As a future educator, I fine myself looking at educational books and looks. The main reason I was drawn to this is bacause I am a huge Hello Kitty fan. After flipping through some of the pages, I decided that I liked what I saw and it could be useful in the classroom.

5-0 out of 5 stars mother/shopper
Even though my two year old daughter already knew her colors, we both love Hello Kitty, so I got this book anyways. And she loves it. She likes to sit with me and go through each page, saying the color, and then all the items of that color on each page. The pictures are really cute, and each two-page spread is dedicated to one color (even black, brown, and pink). We play games with it, such as me asking her where the red lipstick is, or the brown teddy bear. It comes with a paper Hello Kitty mobile too which I put together with clear fishing wire and hung it in her room. A year later it is still a favorite book of hers. Nice quality too - hard cover and good quality paper for pages. With all it's use, it still looks brand new. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Kitty and her twin, Mimmy, explore and learn life lessons in this octet of eight-minute episodes sandwiched between animated puzzles and clay shape play. The feline pair plant morning glory seeds, visit town with their parents, nurse a bird with a broken wing back to health, learn manners and safety, go underground with a mole friend, and in a storybook adventure visit a nice woman who turns out to be a witch. This new series is a departure from Hello Kitty's first foray into television, with a largely unsuccessful fairy tale format, in that it combines ordinary teaching moments and flights of fancy--literally, as the twins travel via hot air balloon. While the Japanese-based marketing frenzy is aimed at teen girls, this series is strictly for kids. (Ages 3 to 7) --Kimberly Heinrichs ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Too Scary Kitty
I wish I had seen all of the reviews for this, before I purchased this video from Toys R' Us.This is the first video purchase I have been disappointed in buying. The other reviewer who noted the scary witch scene was right -- the witch sharpening the knife sequence was too scary!!! My daughter is still talking about how scary it was days later. While the other shorts on here were fine - the third one implied way too much violence for the age group that might normally purchase this -- I would not endorse this video for kids under six and/or kids who have not watched a lot of violence/scary scenes. The implied violence just seemed too inappropriate given the sweet, pleasant nature of the rest of the video.

4-0 out of 5 stars Grating on the ears, yet strangely charming
Please note that this series is different from the 1980's "Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater" series, as well as the Japanese collection of short stories and fairy tale retellings with Megumi Hayashibara.

In this series, Hello Kitty and her sister Mimi have a series of short (~10 minute) adventures in which they explore their imaginations or learn a simple lesson about counting, hygiene, street signs, and other topics. The stories are mostly simple and lighthearted, with a few macabre exceptions such as the knife incident mentioned below.

Interspersed with the Hello Kitty stories are short, "educational" CG games which ask the viewer to guess a shape or animal, some of which have apparently nothing to do with Hello Kitty. These are advertised as a bonus, but I found them an annoying diversion from the HK material.

The voice acting can be grating to the point of unintended humor. In about every other episode, Kitty and Mimi sing an off-tune song about imagination that made me want to cry after a few episodes. The characters in the CG games giggle incessantly while talking. However, the overly enthusiastic "MIMI!!SHE'S MY SISTER!!!" in the opening sequence is so over the top that it makes up for all of this.

I have to admit that I am at least 15 years older than the target audience for this series. That said, I enjoyed the adventure stories more than the educational ones, if only for the expectation of seeing something very strange, such as the fact that the entire Kitty family wears the same cherry print nightgown, or the image of Kitty throwing herself against a hole in the wall to make it bigger.

Younger children (age 4-8) will probably enjoy this, but anyone else should probably stay away unless they like Kitty and are easily amused by things that aren't meant to be funny.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great themes and the kids enjoy it
Our three toddlers watched a couple of the short videos right before dinner. So during dinner I found my 2-year old surprisingly civil and polite. After some brief inquires (to my 10 year old daughter) I found out that Kitty had learned some lessons on the tape. Outstanding! Every little contribution to parenting helps. Think Veggietales for toddlers and you've got Hello Kitty.

Have multiple short videos is also pleasant because we prefer not to have extended TV viewing for our toddlers. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars My daughter and I both disliked this video.
My daughter was so excited to watch it, but within the first five minutes, she completely lost interest.I've always thought that Hello Kitty products, such as stationery and little girl's purses, etc. were soadorable.I thought the video would be the same, but it wasn't.It waskind of annoying and hard to follow for a young child. And I don't thinkthe animation was that great either.I'll stick with Winnie the Poohclassics and Franklin and Brown Bear.
