    Editorial Review

This limited edition Xbox bundle includes two Sega games, Sega GT 2002 and Jet Set Radio Future--a $100 value!
Take the power and flexibility of a dedicated computer-gaming system and combine it with the easy-to-use, instant-on format of a high-end console system and what do you get? Well, if you also add in DVD playback ability and broadband Internet connectivity, you get Xbox.

The advanced components inside Xbox make it the undisputed powerhouse among current game consoles. A 733 MHz Intel main processor and 233 MHz graphics processor from industry leader nVidia deliver photorealistic graphics in real time. A cavernous hard drive stores saved games and characters, making flimsy memory sticks obsolete. The built-in Ethernet port enables super-fast multiplayer online gaming over a broadband Internet connection. Four game-controller ports allow you and three of your buddies to play at the same time, or you can use them for other peripherals such as gamepads, light guns, voice-activated headsets, and who knows what else?

But Xbox has more going for it than fancy innards. The Xbox's Windows-based operating system is a breeze to program on, earning it grateful accolades from Electronic Arts, Infogrames, THQ, and other game producers. The less time developers spend struggling with the operating system means the more time they spend tweaking gameplay, which ultimately results in better games. And games are what it's all about.

Well, games and the fun of owning a green-glowing game console that looks like it came from Darth Vader's living room. --Mike Fehlauer ... Read more

okay, you people make no sense in speaking about system's.
    here's something short and simple

XBOX is like your home computer, it will have it's up's and down's.

For the most common problem with the xbox.
    dvd rom:
    - games freezes up
    - will not start up the system properly
    - DVD-rom is filled with dust.
    - laser lens is broken
If you want the system to last for few years, try not to play with the system for more than 6hours, considering that some games will actually take 48 to 100 hours to finish and yes they're very addicting.

The system does over heat but mainly from the dvd rom only. Over 10,000 console have had this problem and if you surf the net, you will be able to read about people complaints on the system.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRICE & GREAT PACKAGE!!!
This really is a great unit and a great package, even if the included games are not your favorite. The price alone makes it worth it & you can trade or sell the games that you don't like! To Cameron (below) from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; You should only apologize for your pure ignorance (that being said in every sense of the words meaning. Oh...You do own a dictionary, don't you? It's that dusty book that is sitting on your shelf of which you could not even decipher the spelling of the title).Perhaps I should ask if you can even read?! (Let's hope that your chronically unused version of a dictionary has some pictures to look at!) You really should spend more time at gaining an education instead of playing video games (of which I am quite sure you are also inept at).
You suggest that other reviewers attend a 3rd grade English class...but I must ask why you would offer them a higher level of education than yourself? You accuse the other reviews of lowering your IQ "massively" but I must ask, "Is there a massive quantity of numerical amounts below 12?" Hmmm...what can we expect from someone who spells the words 'basically' & 'helpful' wrong (i.e.: 'basicly' & 'helpfull'). Hey, I know....you should try to get bumped up to that 3rd grade English class! (After all, how many more years can you spend in 2nd grade special ed? What's that? A 'massive' amount you say?!).
By the way, had you bothered to look at who wrote the "second review", you might (with your limited mental capacity) have noticed by whom it was written...Nubia Rodriguez from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. M...E...X...I...C...O, you moron. Perhaps you might have heard of it? Or maybe even seen it in one of your "picture" books? You see, you asinine little "DOLT" (I am surprised you could spell that one right!) in Mexico they speak MEXICAN! The dear girl was doing her best to relay her feelings in a language which is not native to her. I would really like to see you on a Mexican forum, what with your grand education and all.
FYI...Mexico is located south of the United States of America....which is located south of Canada (with facetiousness I say, "We're all so proud to have geniuses such as you here"). I suggest you attend a 3rd grade geography class as well so that you can figure out which way South is. You see, you seem to possess upside down anatomy....it appears your head is located south of your hips and your ass is north of your shoulders (which would explain your review). That means your "vomit" should be wiped with toilet paper, you half-witted retard! HEY...Edmonton is really cold right now, so it's a good thing that your world contains "ass-hats" to keep your thinking cap warm.
P.S. There is no such thing as "intellectual stability" as you have written. But there is such a thing as having no intellect whatsoever....you are living proof of that.
P.P.S. "Self respect"?! What would you know about that? Try to get some and then learn to have respect for others.
P.P.P.S. Who helped you with the big words like "of" and "to"?

3-0 out of 5 stars A good price. A good console. A poor choice of games.
First I would like to apologize on behalf of the above dolts. With no understanding of basic grammar, punctuation, spelling, and self respect, these tools have the audacity to write reviews that are barely legible let alone helpfull. Nobody has the time or patience to read filth such as the above. You people make me want to vomit. That second review; WOW! Now that made alot of sense. Not once when reading it did I detect a hint of intellectual stability. Maybe you should stop crying about people commenting that the Sony Playstation 2 is better than the X-Box, and go attend a third level english class. Because education is a wonderfull gift, but it's no X-Box(nice use of the late Mountain Dew advert huh?)

This review is not for the X-Box itself as the above ass-hats thought it should be. This review is for the listed X-Box Bundle. As advertised, and i quote; "Xbox Bundle Pak(another spelling mistake!) with 2 Free Games: Sega GT 2002 and JSRF." As you can plainly see this bundle includes two games. The above reviews, which is a stretch saying that, said nothing about these two games. I may be wrong, having lowered my IQ massively by reading that dribble, and they might have mentioned them. So basicly I am just going to say this "Bundle" is not bad when you think about it. Receiving the X-Box console and two games for a fair price is pretty good. Three stars because these are horrid games. Mindless dribble... ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Got an Xbox? Do you enjoy watching DVDs? Then you need one of these. This DVD playback kit unlocks the DVD functionality of Microsoft's powerful Xboxand helps make the console an even more important addition to your homeentertainment deck.

Feeling rather light in hand, this remote features large keys that feel rubberyyet firm. The kit sports some of the basic functions you'd expect from a commoncontroller, including chapter skip, play, pause, and number buttons. There'salso handy 32x fast-forward and reverse controls.

Pressing the display button calls up a friendly onscreen menu that allows accessto more features, including up to 10x magnification, A-B playback loop (forcueing and viewing favorite scenes repeatedly), and subtitle and audio options. It's worth noting that many lower-cost DVD remotes have access to such featuresthrough the press of a button. The fact that this one requires you to usea menu to access such common commands may rankle DVD aficionados, as the menu isa bit slower than using buttons. Still, the menu is quite intuitive and couldn'tbe much easier to use.

For the remote to work, you'll need to plug the included infrared receiver intoan open controller port on the Xbox. Most gamers will never need to unplug thereceiver again, as you can plug it into the rarely used fourth port.Interestingly, the receiver works best when the remote is operated almostdirectly in front of it, and can be a little finicky when signals are sent fromthe far left or right.

The couch potato crowd won't be thrilled to learn that the remote does notinclude power or eject buttons. Why such standard features were omitted escapesus, but that is far and away the worst thing we can say about an otherwisedecent control. --Mark Brooks

    Pros:

    • Though very lightweight, the controller seems sturdily made and the buttonsare large and comfy
    • Uses any of the 4 Xbox game controller ports; rarely gets in the way
    • Gives the Xbox cool DVD playback features
    • Onscreen menu is very easy to use
    Cons:
    • No power or eject buttons
    • A-B looping, subtitles, and language selects--as well as other features--areonly accessible via onscreen menus
    • Cannot use the remote from far to the left or right of the sensor

1-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Useless
I used my remote all of about 8 times before it stopped working.Even with the proprietary dongle inserted into a controller slot you cannot control this thing with a controller, you must use the remote control. When you take the dongle out with a DVD in, a screen will come up telling to reinsert, so if either the dongle or the remote get slightly injured or malfunction, then you've just wasted thirty bucks.I feel quite ripped off. With the low cost of DVDs nowadays, it's a MUCH better idea to buy a standalone IMHO, you can get a good progressive scan for about $30 or $40, which comes out to about the same price.

As a side, it is also EXTREMELY annoying that you can't turn on, or off the device with the remote, you must go up to box to do it yourself, especially annoying if you just want to watch a DVD in your bed and crash afterwards.

All in all the value proposition offered by this product is very low considering the similarly priced alternatives.

1-0 out of 5 stars DVDs don't play!
DVD's which play perfectly well on other cheap players, freeze/skip or don't play when I try to play them on the XBOX. Don't waste your money on this, buy a stand-alone DVD player instead so you won't have the frustration that I've had!

5-0 out of 5 stars Do NOT buy Substitutes!!!!!!!!!! Buy the original!!!!!!
Buy the original Microsoft XBOX DVD Remote. I bought a substitute from Game Liquidation and after only 10 movies the receiver/transmitter stopped working. I did not get a refund although I returned the product.

The original remote is GREAT! No problems so far and I have seen dozens of movies - satisfaction guaranteed. ... Read more

Xbox Live is an online gaming service that lets you play multiplayer Xbox games over the Internet via your broadband connection. This Xbox Live starter kit includes a one-year subscription to Xbox Live, plus the Xbox Communicator, a device that plugs into one of your Xbox controller ports and lets you talk with other Xbox Live gamers during games.

To play games over the Xbox Live service, you'll need:

    • High speed, or broadband, Internet service
    • An Ethernet cable so you can connect your Xbox to your external DSL or cable modem (and maybe a router, if you want your home computer and Xbox to share your Internet connection)
    • A subscription to the Xbox Live service (this kit comes with a year of service--additional service costs a monthly fee)
    • An Xbox game that is online-enabled

5-0 out of 5 stars XBox Live owns!!
Well, I've played Halo 2 with my friend and he has Xbox Live, and I have to tell you it's the best thing you can buy. It's so much fun talking with your teammates and strategizing, Personally I think it's a nescessity if you like playing Halo 2 with a lot of people. I mean you can play for hours and it will never get boring, I'm suuuperr excited that I'm gonna get Halo2 and Xbox Live for X-Mas, and I suggest anyone who has Halo2 to get it. This is a great product. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Credit Card!!???
I bought a 3 month kit of xbox live to see if I liked it;however during the sign in, it said to enter a major credit card.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's Costly but it's the Best Way to Enhance Your Xbox Fun
So you'd like to enter the world on online console gaming? The Xbox Live Starter Kit is the place to start because it has everything you need to join Xbox Live. However, make sure you have already contacted your phone or cable provider for a high speed internet connection such as DSL or cable. Without that, you won't be able to connect to Xbox Live. Unfortunately, you also have to pay a monthly fee to Microsoft on top of your monthly internet bill so while Xbox Live is a fun way to play games, it can be expensive, especially if you don't use your internet connection for anything other than the Xbox. The Xbox Live Starter Kit comes with a one year subscription to Xbox Live and a headset that connects to your Xbox controller which allows you to talk with other online gamers. You'll still need to enter your credit card info when you subscribe so make sure you keep track of your renewal date because you will automatically be billed once the initial subscription ends. With Xbox Live you'll be able to play against gamers around the world. It's always interesting to play a game and hear people with Southern, Brooklyn and Australian accents talk smack. Many games also offer downloadable content which provide more missions, vehicles, maps and other fun stuff for your chosen game. Check around the internet or ask friends that play on Xbox Live which titles are the "must buy games" because some games have larger online communities than others. My personal recommendations would be to check out MechAssault, Rainbow Six 3, Project Gotham Racing 2, Crimson Skies and ESPN Football.Right now, if you don't play games on the PC, Xbox is really the only console worth owning for online gaming. Many of its titles are designed with the online portion given as much attention as the offline portion. One thing to look out for is a growing problem with Xbox Live cheaters. There is a device you can buy (I won't name it in case dishonest gamers are reading this.) that was originally meant for offline gaming but helps Xbox Live gamers cheat, especially on popular titles such as Rainbow Six 3.Hopefully, Microsoft will fix some of the problems and deal with cheaters harshly before it becomes a big problem. If you can afford it, definitely check out Xbox Live, it enhances your games and makes them enjoyable for a longer period of time. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars the s controller
the s controller is a auesome buy i have three and my big controller is horrible i let my dad use it and i always win but when he uses the s controller he wins .so if u want to buy a controller the s controller is the very one to buy and if u only have two or one buy two or three.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sleek
Although I don't own my own Xbox - I always play someone else's because I already own a PS2, I never-the-less feel obligated to add my thoughts on the matter. The new Xbox controller S is one sleek piece of equipment - FAR superior to that original monstrousity of a controller those idiots at Microsoft initially came up with (it was that super ugly, gigantic, and clunky original controller that turned me off from buying the Xbox when it came out). The new controller S is visually appealing to the eyes. Although the PS2 controller is still slightly more attractive, the controller S is an extremely close second. The controller s is smaller and handier than the original, has easier to use controls, and is VERY comfortable to grip. Just compare the different controllers of Xbox, PS2,and Gamecube by holding them in your hands, and fiddling around with the controls. You will see that the Xbox controller S has the nicest fit of them all on the palms of your hands (the Gamecube is the least comfortable). Ironically the controller S was originally designed for the Xbox release in Japan because the original controller was deemed too big for Japanese players. I really think those folks at Microsoft should plan things a little better before jumping in to the game....

3-0 out of 5 stars Not comfortable after playing Galaga for a while...
I didn't mind this controller at all in the beginning. But after playing Galaga for a while, the thumb gets quite tiring since we have to press the A button quickly for the entire game.I play the same game on GC, it's easier and I get higher scores.I wish there's even a smaller version of the Xbox controller that's designed with women and kids in mind.My conclusion -- do NOT play Galaga type games on Xbox, play it on GC or PS2 :) ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
This is a fun and Awesome game.I'm not much into the NBA, College Ball is way Better.I recommend this to anyone who likes or doesn't like Basketball.

4-0 out of 5 stars BIG JAM
Exeptionaly cool game if you are not looking for a real basketball game but is just the same fun as one I've it's funier than just an old fashiond basket whit faults and free trows
This one is BIG just like ea-sports-big big you'll love it

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun game, nothing to get excited about though
Now that more and more nba games are comming out on the three systems consisting of PS2, Xbox:):), and gamecube:(:( you kind of know what to expect, especially from these extreme nba games like this one and nba ballers. The basic point for this one, street 1 and ballers is to pass the ball, pass again, perform trick move, and score. The com will sometimes block it, sometimes not. So it basically turns into a luck game. In terms of stealing, the com will hardly get a good chance to successfully steal the ball from you as long as you perform a trick move such as act a fool, or in this case y and b which perform different trick moves. Or if you want to be fancy shmancy then you might pull both triggers, click the left thumbstick and push x or y resulting in a more advanced trick move resulting in more points. One thing that i do not like about this game is the gamebreaker move. While it takes away one point from your opponnent and adds one to yours, i don't think that that is enough considering how many tricks and shots you have to pull off in order to get the gamebreaker meter full. Even the gamebreaker level 2 meter isn't enough. Special meters such as the ones in NBA jam and nba ballers, (particularaly ballers:) are a little, or in ballers case, a LOT more rewarding. But, as you can see by the amount of stars that i gave this game, there is a lot to the game that i like, such as, legal goaltending, (this can get fun.) Instant replays are way out sick and the soundtrack is totally awesome. Did i mention the Old School Ballers. THey are so sweet its not even a laughing matter, well maybe for someone who laughs a lot it is, but besides that its definetely not. Also, the create a team and create a baller is tight. Now, on to the things that i dislike about this game. One thing is the graphics. Those definetely need working on for nba street volume 3, (hopefully:). Also, like a previousely stated, its basically the same concept as ballers and jam with the same style and "trick like" moves. The one thing that i hate about this game is the dissapointengly short season. It took me three days to complete it TWICE! So dissapointing. The last thing that i don't like about this game is that it does not include the xbox live feature. Do you know how much fun this game would be if it included this. I'd be playing it from dawn to dusk no kidding. Looking back on this review, i probobly would give this game a 3 1/2 which you know, isn't all that bad, but there are certainly definetely rooms for improvement. Now, the list.

    Pros

    -Great Old School Ballers
-Completely up to date rosters, (I think:)
    -Nice instant replays
-Create a baller and create a team are totally outrageously sick

    Cons

    -Horrrrrrrrribbbbbleee graphics
-Lack in player models, (which i guess is the same thing as above)
    -Unbelievebly short season
    -No Xbox Live! WUT!?!?

Mindue, there haven't been any EA games that have been on Xbox live, at least none that i recall. Uhhhhhhhhh...No!

I hope this review was helpfull. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

There's road rage, and then there's road rage Simpsons style! "D'oh!" Monty Burns is up to his greedy ways again. He's purchased Springfield's transit corporation and heinously jacked up the fares. Refusing to shell out for the new rates, the rage ensues. You'll take on commuters and jam-packed back routes, all in an effort to help buy back the corporation before time runs out.

More than 25 Simpsons characters climb behind the wheel or wander the streets begging for a ride. Careen through timesaving shortcuts and take on terrain including hills, mountains, and forests. Wreak havoc in five Springfield neighborhoods that include landmarks such as Moe's Bar and the nuclear power plant. Busy traffic and wayward pedestrians confound your rage. However, two-wheel leans, speed starts, power slides, and other cool car physics help you release that rage.

Multiple game modes let you go head-to-head in two-player split-screen action that challenges your opponent in a race for the next passenger, or you can steal his or her passenger midride! Complete up to 60 unique passenger deliveries in story mode, or take a leisurely Sunday drive through the fair Springfield. A bonus system lets you unlock cars and specific characters, while intuitive menus make this game easy to play. As Homer would say, "If it's hard to do, it's not worth doing!" ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars It's good for little kids.
Now you see a T rating on this box you expect at least a little more violence or something. I think the only reason it's rated teen is because Homer says ass once. I don't hear no other profanity and the violence is weak. Now about the game. It's a fast-paced kid version of Crazy Taxi. I had no clue what i was in for when i bought this game all i was thinking was I love the Simpsons. But don't get me wrong it is a fun game. I don't like Bart's car. Other than that nice cars and awesome neighborhoods. Except the plower plant because it's really boring and there's a giant wall that just gets in your way. The missions are ok and you can skip them after 5 losses which basically means all you have to do is win the 10th mission and you unlock Homer's special car. Not too bad of a game I just wish it had more options because basically when you beat the missions, you're not gonna wanna play them again and all that's left is the Road Rage. Worth renting, not buying. Or maybe snatching it from a friend.

4-0 out of 5 stars Love it or hate it
Some love it, others hate it. Here is the low-down.This is "Crazy Taxi" in Simpson-Land.There are plenty of sight and sound gags that should satisfy Simpsons fans, but they will become repetetive and annoying if you play long enough. The "worlds" are terrific, but are not "perfect" - this game is about cartoon-driving mayhem, it is not intended to be realistic. The bottom line is that the game is a blast to play.

Crazy Taxi has larger, more detailed "worlds", but without the comedy and humor of Road Rage.Road Rage, however, has more and better cars to play.My only criticism is that some of the language and inuendo could easily have been left out without detracting from the fun at all.

P.S. Sometime, be sure to drive around and read all the signs, billboards, and the names of the businesses. Also, look for backyard shortcuts and hidden tunnels.

2-0 out of 5 stars They Can Do Better Than This
I was so excited once I got The Simpsons: Road Rage. But once I started playing it, I was very dissapointed. The 3-D effects aren't very impressive, and this game is very repetitive. But if you're a true Simpsons fan, you will find the humor of The Simpsons in this game. The voices in this game match up to the voices on the show as well. But, like I said, this game is very repetitive and you will probably hear the same catchphrases over and over throughout the game.

This game is not very challenging either, and will probably take you no more than a month to finish. And when you do finish the game, let me tell you now, the ending is not that exciting.

A plus side to this game is that an exclusive character & vehicle comes along every holiday, which goes with the holiday. That feature is kind of cool. But, you could easily see all the characters by re-setting the calendar on your game console, and if you don't do this, you will only see the holiday character once a year.

This is an average game that is appropriate for the whole family, but it is not a must-buy. If I were you, I wouldn't rush out and buy this video game. ... Read more

This game truly has some of the best graphics in a video game. The characters actually look real. Now look, i'm not a huge fan of the Matrix series. I like them, i'm just not that big a fan. But I bought this game cause it looked pretty cool and it was cheap and it was awesome. My only complaints are the last two levels where you drive around in that thing and shoot those electric squid things and then the cheesy ending which sets up the film "The Matrix Revolutions". But anyway, I played as Niobe and the character looks real, they sound real. The shooting looks real and the focus thing is really cool. The game however is relatively easy, I beat it in less than a week and I suck at video games. But this game is really fun and I highly recommend it. A-.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sloppy Sloppy Sloppy
Maybe I am a putz. But maybe this is just a lousy game. The graphics are not bad, the storyline is a little weak. But the controls suck and that makes for a lousy game.In first person mode, the controls are way too sensitive, and you cannot change the sensitivity or the up down orientation. The characters do things you do not want them to do, turn whatever way they want, stick to the wall when you do not want them to, refuse to when you do.The camera goes off on an angle you do not want.In fact, playing next to walls, I have seen nothing but the wall on the screen while the character is fighting.

Personally, this game had a lot of hope. But poor controls, and lousy logic in certain areas make this game a major disappointment.Do not waste your money.

This game is ok. The game is way to short and it is to easy if you put it on easy and is way to hard when you put it on hard. The controls are a little wired. The games grafics are good when you are in a velical they are not when your a person. The game is good but the control and the difficalty kind of mess it up.

    Editorial Review

More often than not, when a game is in development for more than threeyears, it does not live up to the hype. Bungie's Halo is the exception. Not only does it meet expectations, it greatly exceeds them. This sci-fifirst-person shooter is a nearly perfect blend of gameplay, graphics, and sound.

The story revolves around the conflict between humans and an alien race known asthe Covenant. The aliens have discovered a powerful artifact--on the ring-shapedplanet called Halo--that will shift the balance of power, and it's up to theplayer to stop them. In addition to several first-person-shooter levels, thegame offers numerous opportunities to engage in vehicular combat. Both the enemyand allied artificial intelligence are extremely impressive. Enemies will usethe terrain and layout to put you in tight spots. Allies will know when to coverand aid you. For instance, if you hop into a jeep, an ally will know to jump inand man the turret on the back of it.

The graphics are exquisitely detailed, but only move at 30 frames per secondrather than 60. The sound effects and voice acting are superb. The level designis among the best ever; most of the game is engaging and challenging withoutbeing frustrating. There's also high replay value thanks to the built-insingle-player, cooperative, and deathmatch modes.

Much like the outstanding GoldenEye 007 for Nintendo 64, Haloraises the bar for console first-person shooters. All console action games willbe measured against Halo for years to come. --Raymond M. Padilla

    Pros:

    • Outstanding game design
    • High replay value
    • Impressive AI
    Cons:
    • Several maps are used multiple times
    • Save functions could have been better implemented
    • Graphics move at 30 frames per second, not 60

5-0 out of 5 stars Setting the bar for First-Person Shooters
I admit, I never had any desire to even buy an X-Box. I was convinced that it didn't have any games that could match, let alone surpass, anything of the same genre on the PS2. Oh, how wrong I was.

First a word of oh-so-obvious warning, this game has been givin a well-earned "M for Mature" rating. In other words keep it away from the kiddies.

Now that that's outta the way here's the skinny. You start as the Master Chief, The last of the Spartan-II super soldiers. The ship you're on, The Pillar of Autumn, is under heavy attack from the enemy, An alien race know as the Covenant. Outgunned and seriously outnumbered, you must fight you way to an escape pod and that's just the first level. It doesn't get any easier from there.

The music goes really well with the levels and is by far one of the best scores ever written. The actors do a splendid job performing their roles. I could swear that SGT. Johnson is the same cigar chomping sarge from "Aliens" but maybe that's just me. The graphics are outstanding. The different enviorments add to the mystery of this strange alien device called Halo.

I must emplore everyone reading this review to remember when this game was released. Naturally this game's graphics can't compare to something like Final Fantasy X, but again check when they where released.

The weapons are very well done. If the enemy get too close you can use you gun for a melee attack and no two are alike. The human weapons have a very military feel to them. Each one built for it's speical use. The Cov. weapons are really fun. Whereas I am fond of the Needler gun, others may prefer the Plasma Rifle. Maybe that's because once you're out of ammo you can find more for the Needler, but you have to find a new gun with the Rifle.

Keep an eye out for ammo cashes and medpacs. There are a few in every level but sometimes you have to find them. Best of all some have different weapons you may need. Perhaps just as useful is the Chief's built-in flashlight. Very helpful in those foggy and lowlight areas. Yes, it does let them enemy (Cov or...) know your postion, so use it wisely.

All in all this Game is the single reason the X-Box is still even on the map, much less the market. Microsoft knows this. Why do you think Halo 2 is so short? Microsoft is gonna need something to get thier X-Box 360(I think That's what they're calling it after all that fuss) off to a good start. I hope this review is helpful.

5-0 out of 5 stars 2 thumbs way up!
Hmmm, where to begin? This game kicks, that's all there is to it.No cheat codes, great storyline-escept for the fact that the marines fight for the UN, and not a more worthy world power, but no biggie.Great sound effects, storyline, wepon selection, music, charachter customizability, co-op, multiplayer, and maps. The enemies AI, however, will probably leave something to be desired...

5-0 out of 5 stars The xbox's first killer app
I was the biggest Sony fanboy for so long.I refused to believe that the stupid xbox could outshine my gorgeous PS2.This all changed in the summer of '04.That was the fist time I played Halo.Since them I've probably beaten the game 30 times. My xbox is now my best friend, and sometimes my PS2 and Gamecube just have to sit and watch.

Halo is no doubt the original killer app for xbox.Halo 2 has since taken the crown thanks to its phenomenal multiplayer, but every loves to go back to Halo and relive that first rush they got playing the game and beating it on Legendary. In fact, I believe that this game was made to be played on Legendary. It may be frustrating at times, but when you finally beat it, there's a sense of relief like no other.

The single player game is awesome.Sure, the levels may be slightly repetitive, but you'll have your finger on the trigger so much that you won't even notice walking through the same hall a dozen times. When the end product overshadows any little things that may bother some people, you know you have a winner. The AI is amazing, especially on Legendary. You may quickly find yourself being ambushed, and those brushes with death make the game truly shine.

Halo brought on what many people believe is the biggest multiplayer revolution since Goldeneye on N64.With the addition of vehicles, it was easy to spend hours playing 4 player FFA or 2 vs 2 team games. When I discovered that you could link 4 xbox's together to system link, I was in awe.8 vs 8 games of CTF on Blood Gulch is still classic.NOTE:Halo is NOT xbox live capable.PC owners are reviewing on the xbox game stating how fun it is to play online. This feature is PC only for Halo.If you want online play, go for Halo 2.

So if you were like me, a Sony, or even a Nintendo fanboy, I dare you to give Halo a try.You might find yourself going to Best Buy tomorrow to pick up your own xbox. And at a newly released Platinum price of 19.99, it's hard to say no. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding ditches the conventional racingmodes of other snowboarding games and instead focuses on freestyle action--inother words, executing tricks with style. The excellent trick system andaccurate physics make for tight gameplay across the board. The game sports arobust career mode as well as quick start and multiplayer modes.

Career mode is divided into four parts: High Score, Media, Sponsor, and ProRide. High Score challenges the player to pile on as many tricks as possible.Media requires the player to execute tricks at certain points where aphotographer is waiting. Sponsor mode focuses on a particular group of tricks. For instance, one sponsor may favor grinds over airs, so players better makesure to grind everything in site to win the sponsor's gear. This mode is alsothe least forgiving, as it's the only one where mistakes detract from theoverall score. Finally, Pro Ride has the player follow and out-trick one of 17professional riders in a follow-the-leader manner. Multiplayer mode allows up tofour players to participate in a round robin tournament with numerous selectableconditions.

Graphically, the game isn't as sharp as EA's SSX Tricky, nor are thephysics and pace as extreme. That isn't to say the game looks bad. The real-lifelocations of Stratton, Brighton, Snow Summit, and more look great. Thesoundtrack features more than 50 songs in a wide array of genres, includingelectronica, emo, hip-hop, rap, punk, ska, and reggae. Players can also opt touse their own soundtracks off the Xbox hard drive, letting them snowboard toJourney and Air Supply as nature intended. --Raymond M. Padilla

it is way too easy to score way too many points off of just a single, simple jump, with out grabs, combos, and disregarding the actual professional scoring system used in the real world competition.I suggest amped 2 instead.

4-0 out of 5 stars My first Xbox sports game
I recently bought an Xbox and am slowly building up my game collection. I had a demo of "Amped2" and loved it. However I found "Amped" for a good price and thought I would try it. I must say that it is fantastic and very addictive. There are quite a lot of controls to learn to really do well on high scores but it is a lot of fun learning to play. The hardest part for me is the rails. With a limited budget, I have to start with some of the older games, and this one is well worth the money. It is hilarious to try a front flip and end up landing on your head.Great game. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Bizarre Creations, the developer of Metropolis Street Racer forDreamcast, makes its Xbox debut with a sequel of sorts. Project GothamRacing is very similar to its predecessor, except with refined gameplaymechanics and vastly improved graphics. The focus of this racer is unique, asit's centered on the "kudos" system. Players are rewarded bonus points forsustaining slides, riding on two wheels, catching air, clean driving, andpassing other drivers. Chaining any of these actions together results inhigh-scoring combinations. So in addition to trying to finish the race first, theplayer must worry about style and technique to succeed in this game. The kudossystem is fun and definitely makes this game stand out from the competition.

Another highlight is the game's detailed graphics. The more than 200 circuitsbased on London, Tokyo, San Francisco, and New York are extremely authentic. Those familiar with the cities are sure to do a double take at the numerouscourses. The game's cars are also beautifully rendered and feature impressivereflection and lighting effects.

Gameplay is quite diverse with quick race, arcade race, kudos challenge, timeattack, and multiplayer modes. Kudos challenge alone features nine differenttypes of gameplay that range among races, time trials, and obstacle courses. Theonly significant drawback with Project Gotham Racing is its difficulty. Most players will find that two-thirds to three-quarters of the way through, thegame becomes exceedingly difficult to the point where it's more frustrating thanfun. Despite this problem, it still provides dozens of hours of entertainmentfor most and a challenging time for hard-core gamers. All players will findProject Gotham Racing a truly distinct and beautiful racer. --RaymondM. Padilla

    Pros:

    • Unique gameplay
    • Exquisitely beautiful cars
    • Detailed levels that look like the real cities
    Cons:
    • Frustratingly difficult towards the end
    • Fewer cars than other racing games

3-0 out of 5 stars Great game, not as good as the second though. (Obviousely)
No doubt that Project Gotham Racing is an extremely fun game, but it is just not as good as the second one. I will make this review in PRO/CON format. It is basically your average racing game with the addition of Kudos, which are basically points that you get for cutting sharp turns.

    PRO:
    1.Graphics are over average
    2.Audio (If you like rap)
3.The idea of Kudos is pretty neat.

    CON:
1.Not as many cars as PGR 2
2.Not as many maps as PGR 2
    3.Not very realistic
    4.Not online
    5.Can get frustrating at times

This game definetely gets a 5/5 in terms of how fun it is, but there is just way less features in this one then there is in the second PGR 2 which is the reason why i gave it a 3/5.

1-0 out of 5 stars Awful
I didnt think id see the day where there would be a racing game this bad. No career mode at all, theres no storyline, it takes forever to unlock things and all you can do is quick race and arcade race. HUGE waste of $20. Dont buy unless you like bieng bored to death.

5-0 out of 5 stars Project Gotham Racing
Metropolis Street Racer may have been announced early on in the Dreamcast cycle, but by the time the game was released, the system was on its last legs. Never mind the fact that this took place over the course of under two years -- it was a shame on all parts. MSR had its problems, but the fact that someone had taken the racing simulation and tried to pull off something truly unique was to be applauded.

In a stroke of luck, not only was the developer Bizarre Creations recognized for their work, but they were given the opportunity to do their racer one better for the launch of a new console system. While Project Gotham isn't quite a sequel, it's certainly a revamp of the MSR formula, and a honing of the Kudos formula that made the game so unique. It's a new way to look at racing, and while it's going to be criticized for focusing on a different aspect of racing than most people are used to, that's also part of what makes this game a new experience worthwhile for anyone who calls themselves a racing fan.

For those of you that felt like Gran Turismo's levels were too long and drawn out, you've got your savior. Of course, you've probably also got Attention Deficit Disorder, but either way, a big bulk of Gotham's gaming takes place in tiny, bite-sized pieces that stress specific skills. The entire game is sectioned up into three major modes: Kudos, Quick and Arcade races, each of which tests your general driving skills, your racing skills, and your technique skills respectively. Each mode is split up into race sets, and you can choose the order of each race, and beat them at your leisure. Can't finish all for races in level one of the Arcade race mode? Try playing the Kudos mode until you unlock a faster car, then go try it again. It's freeing to be able to play the races in the order you want, when you feel like it.

Part of the reason the game is structured this way is because the game is about technique, not simple wins. So you can unlock cars by getting first place in a set of races, by beating a certain car in a one-on-one race, or by getting a certain total number of Kudos. Even in races, the Kudos are always the factor in winning, not simply a place number. At first, the Kudos bonus you get for getting in the top three is enough to have you win a race, but as you get further in the game, things will get tougher, and you'll have to actually place and get a minimum amount of Kudos to win. You can't just play sloppy and expect to get far in Gotham -- you're going to have to learn to play like a champ.

Fortunately, the Kudos system is a lot easier to handle in Gotham. You can points by sustained slides (without hitting any walls), for getting on two wheels, for catching air, overtaking another car, and of course combos based on doing any of them in quick succession. In Arcade mode it's even tougher, because in order to hit the high scores needed to get gold in the races, you'll have to do all the above while keeping yourself going through sets of green pylons at a speed fast enough to keep the score from totaling. It's brutally tough, but so much fun that you'll put yourself through sweaty sessions on one race just to learn to read the track and get you and your car playing perfectly.

Your competition is just as ruthless as the courses, and when you're in one on one races you'll spend most of the time peering through the rear view mirror, trying to block your opponent from passing you. Sometimes you can manipulate the AI to your advantage by simply slamming cars to slow you down and help you around corners, but they're smart enough to aggressively seek out gaps and pass you on straightaways. More often than not you'll be slamming your fist because a stupid cornering mistake you've made, not because you felt the AI's been unfair or overly stupid.

I was a big fan of the heavier feel of the cars in MSR, and I instantly fell in love with the control in Gotham, particularly in the subtleties between the cars. Because you're doing so much turning, sliding, and braking, you'll find yourself intimately aware of the differences between an Audi TT Coupe and a Focus, just on how well they brake at certain speeds, or take tight turns. This is a game that should be judged on its control first and foremost, and in that regards this is a fantastic example of racing precision.

This one's not for everyone. That being said, neither is the Tekken or Gran Turismo series. Both are games that require some heavy duty dedication to really find the beauty of their respective play mechanics, and Gotham is no different. It's a tough game that demands perfection more often than not, and to beat some particular races you'll be restarting the entire race the moment you've made an error. But if you're meticulous enough to enjoy getting into the meat of a deep title like this one, you'll find that the designers have really tried to create a new driving experience, and for the most part, succeeded in doing just that.

Though I wish the environments were handled with more flair, the cars are beautiful, and the gameplay is polished and fun. If you can get over the tight corners and lower-speed racing involved, you'll be amazed by the depth of the game, not to mention the technique required to master it. Add to that the most in-depth music manager of any Xbox game yet, and an amazing pack-in soundtrack, and you've got yourself an awesome reason to buy an Xbox as a racing fanatic.

I'm one of those rare people who get every action-trick sports games, granted some I wait on, and others I will get day of release, and well I waited on THPS4 and glad I did.

First off the game went under major reconstructive surgery for this incarnation, pretty much throwing away the 2:00 clock. I have serious problems with that, it's what made THPS, trying to do the goals within the time frame. Also out is the tape system, and again I'm seriously upset, just like I was for the arrival of THPS2.

The gameplay is THPS without a question. Its a little dulled down from the sharpness of THPS3, but gives a little more realism to the game, but if I wanted that, I'd go out and pick up the deck and go skating. Many of the challenges are excrutiatingly tedious. Actually about 90% of them are tedious, I like the races, and the traditional collect SKATE of find 5 whatevers in 2 minutes, but then the competitions don't have the skate park feel to them. The levels are big, but fairly unimaginative (Chicago from Mat Hoffman 2....I won't say more)

If you're looking for a THPS game, I would go 3 and maybe even 2x before 4, but if you're looking for new levels and don't have 4, pick it up now that it is at a platnium price, and be glad you didn't spend twice as much on it. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Midnight Club II builds on the illegal street racing fun found in the PS2 launch title Midnight Club. Like that game it pits you against street toughs in non-linear street races, all for bragging rights and access to better and more sophisticated rides. New in Midnight Club II are the police and the ability to drive a motorcycle.

The game begins with you in the charge of a slob named Moses. He acts as tutor, teaching you how to control your beater car and how to use power-ups, as well as offering overall moral support. He teaches you how to go about the business of the game: earning new gear such as Nitrous Oxide, new cars, and even new controls. The award of new controls later in the game show how you're a novice driver at the start but by the end you're a pro who can land on all four wheels after a jump, expertly control a power slide turn, and much, much more.

Much of the game consists of cruising around three large and well rendered cities: Paris, Tokyo, and Los Angeles. You don't just challenge someone to a race or sign up for an event and show up. Instead you get a map and have to follow a red dot. The dot is a rival racer. Once you track and chase him down, you flash your high beams and then you can race him. It's a clever way of giving you a warm up, keeping you immersed in the game, and best of all, teaching you the layout of each city.

Racing is fun, fast, and furious. This isn't a simulation, it's an arcade-style racer--but the physics system is internally consistent so it feels more "realistic" than it actually is. Rockstar has put a premium on keeping you in control, keeping the thrill-factor high, and giving you a heart stopping sense of speed. The graphics are fantastic and the cities are incredibly detailed. As a counter-point, the voice acting is just plain awful.

Midnight Club II offers a wide range of game modes ensuring it will be playable for a long time to come: career, mission, and a mode that lets you just jump into a race. Multiplayer is possible in hotseat mode, but it also supports Internet play. Internet lag is bad over dial-up modem (PS2), but broadband players (Xbox Live or PS2) will find the game silky smooth. All of this makes Midnight Club II a great addition to any videogame racing fan's library, but a must for online fans.--Bob Andrews

5-0 out of 5 stars The game is just the don of racing games...
Look at the date that midnight club 2 came out, and now look at the date i am writing this review. Midnight club 2 came out AGES ago but yet i still play it because it was so well put together. The soundtrack to the game is probably my favourite game soundtrack of all time. The gameplay is impeccable because there is so much action, like if you are a lamer who likes games that are really easy and love thrashing the computer because of this, then do not expect to like MC2. This game is challenging which makes it even more enjoyable to play, if you manage to thrash the computer (which is highly unlikely) thats when you can tell yourself that you are a Don. The graphics are above average (seen as there is midnight club 3 out) but this is hardly noticable due to the great gameplay and great audio. Alot of races to win, alot of cars to win, 3 cities to explore, choose your own path to the finish line, outrun the cops, race bikes against cars, vanish in the distance with nitro, life like car physics including slipstream turbo which is basically driving behind one of your opponents cars so that they take the wind resistance for you which slows them down and cause a slingshot like effect which enables you to speed right past them due to the fact that your vehicle has not taken any wind resistance (hopefully that makes sense), the characters in the game are entertaining due to the fact that they think they are street Gods until you beat them and take their car!! to the guy who said it looks like GTA3- that is a complete lie. BASICALLY WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY IS... THIS GAMES OWNS. FINISH THIS, AND THEN GO AND BUY MIDNIGHT CLUB 3. PEEEEEEEEAAAAAACCCCEEEE.

    5-0 out of 5 stars MidnightClub2-5*****
MidnightClub2 is an awesome game. It is sooo realistic, you can land on roofs and rome around. You can use noss and get up to speeds of 200 mph. And if you just want to play it safe and rome around town slowly and calmly, the stop lights actually work. And its not any violent fighting game either.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tough but very enjoyable
This is a pretty sweet game right here. Not the greatest racing game ever, but I like it alot. The cars are really cool and the vast cities make for enjoyable albeit usually pretty challenging races. I mean, I spent at least an hour trying to beat mutliple individual races and that did get to be a pain in ass, but no biggie. The races where there isn't one set way to race them (i.e. just a bunch of checkpoints with no order in which to get them) take a while to learn and they really tried my patience, but the soundtrack is probably my favorite out of any game so I didn't really notice how much of my life I was wasting away staring at my TV. The controls are responsive, but get crazy as you progress through the game and I felt like mother nature got incredibly annoying because too many levels were rainy and made driving fast cars pretty hard. Anyway, so this is a fun game with a great soundtrack, nice graphics, solid controls and it's challenging so it'll take up a good chunk of your life. Some might find it a little too tough and say that it lacks depth and reality which admittedly it does, but I think it's great none the less. OH YEAH, one more thing. THE VOICES OF MOST THE PEOPLE YOU RACE ARE SOOOO PAINFULLY ANNOYING! They say the most obnoxious, non-funny things ever. Like right now I'm going through the game again and in Japan you race this guy with ridiculous hair and he calls you a Squid Head at least 789534785988912 times. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice graphics.
I'll say this much. Sweet graphics. But I hate that you have to switch the reverse and gas gear with A and B all the time and then trigger it to go. That is so stupid. Another thing is that it doesn't feel that realistic when I'm driving the car. Other than the gameplay though, it has funny people and sayings and it's great how more than one customer can be picked up in the streets. I also like some of the mini games. The best one is were you have to drive the length of the football field before time runs out with traffic trying to stop you. Great landscapes and alot of destinations, so it is a fun game, just not perfect. Worth a look at.

5-0 out of 5 stars CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love crazy taxi,im a real big fan of it, I have the first one for gamecube. Then i bought an xbox with 3 games, i didnt buy this one because i didnt know if it was as good or not, so i rented it.WOW, i love this one the most, here are some reasons.

1.Graphics: Really great, they are cartoony graphics sometimes but are really the best.

2.Sound: The sound effects are really cool, and the music, I LOVE, if u like punk bands like offspring and bad religion you'll like this, both bands are in the game plus some band called citizen bird...????.

3.Controls: The controls are the same as the last 2 games, i'd recommend the controller s or the racing wheel for this.

4.Gameplay:I love playing this game.IT has 1 level from each of the 1st games and same characters, I Played this game for hours.

Overall:Crazy Taxi 3 is crazy, i'd recommend buying it, if u never played crazy taxi,(any of them), then i'd recommend u rent it before purchasing. That's All.............Have fun Playing

4-0 out of 5 stars A Must Buy Game
When I first played this game it was on a demo ...I had never played any previous versions so I didn't know what it was about. It only had one level (being a demo and all). But for only having one level, it was awesome.I knew that I had to get that game.So I bought it and played it all the time.

    It's easy to play:

    1. Pick a level
    2. Pick a driver.
    3. Right trigger go, left trigger stop, Y button hop, B button shift up, A button shift down.
Simple, basic, and most of all FUN.Overall, A MUST BUY GAME. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, not bad at all
I am not a sports fan, I am a gamer... and while I used to play little league back in the day, I haven't actually played a 'baseball' game since the Atari 2600. They've come a long way. Real teams and real stats. Which probably gives a decided advantage to those that are familiar with the stronger players and how to best utilize their statistical advantages. Aside from the regular baseball game of alternating pitching / batting, MLB Slugfest adds some flava to the mix. You occasionally get the ability to throw a 'special pitch' of some physically impossible insane screwball, fireball, bouncer, etc that can usually be counted on for a strike. Small menu additions like "Headlines" that show small mock-ups of the 'sports news' as the season progresses add some minimal flavor. And the ability to punch players on base (occasionally causing a dropped ball) is what this Slugfest franchise is all about. And there is a song by San Diego's own Buckfast Superbee that plays behind one of the menus, and that's very cool. Fun and super easy controls, unlockable fantasy parks and `special teams' make it enjoyable for the 'non-baseball' gamer but with advanced tweaks like scouting new players, trades, pitcher swaps and player substitutions, the couch managers should find enough depth to challenge the whole season.

4-0 out of 5 stars MLB Crapfest
This was the worst baseball game I have ever played. I put the difficulty level on "Trainee" and it played like it was on allstar mode. It also wasn't easy to pitch were I wanted to. I was unable to catch the ball in the air which the computer seemed to do with great ease. Stay as far away from this game as possible, it only causes frustration and isn't worth the rental fee or wasted time.

All my friends love this game ,but i don't . it isn't realisticlike people are bigger well the part where if they are good is pretty cool they're on fire [literitely] this game is just like any other baseball game. You've seen one you've seen 'em all. I do not particuarly like this game but many people do so I would say BUY THIS GAME. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Newly optimized for Xbox, SpyHunter is a mission-based combat racing game based on the arcade classic. It puts you behind the wheel of the G-6155 Interceptor, the ultimate counterintelligence prototype vehicle that's turbocharged and ready to go with 845 horsepower for lightning-fast speed. That's not all--there's an arsenal of futuristic weaponry and morphing abilities to turn the car into a speedboat, Jet Ski, or motorcycle. Basically, it's everything you need to undertake 14 high-adrenaline missions on wheels.

Should you choose to accept these daring reconnaissance missions, you'll travel to Panama, England, the Middle East, Venice, and other exotic locations around the world. Each location is rendered with a high degree of realism and provides recognizable landmarks and scenery. Throughout, you're the hunter as well as the hunted, pursued by enemies over land, on water, and in the air. Your mission is to take on NOSTRA, an out-of-control multinational corporation headed by an evil madman who's threatening the world.

As SpyHunter, you must always be ready for heavily armed enemy vehicles that lurk around every corner and strike at the first site of the Interceptor. But you have a steady supply of weapons trucks that load you up with machine guns, missiles, lasers, and counterattack weapons such as oil slicks, smoke screens, and cluster mines. Each successful attack gets you one step closer to revealing who SpyHunter is and what he's ultimately after. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Like a James Bond car chase without James Bond
Although some people think it isn't, Spy Hunter for Xbox is a great game. As the title suggests, Spy Hunter is very much like a james bond car chase w/o james bond. Actually, it's so like a james bond car chase that the third level, venice, looks and feels just like the venice car chase in "Moonraker". Spy hunter is a combat driving game. You drive along the endless highway guns a blazin' killing enemies. If you inflict too much damage, you will automatically turn into a motorcycle, or, if in the water, a high-speed jet ski (a.k.a. speederboat). You could also go into the weapons van to get full ammo and health. Now, killing enemies is not the only thing you do in each level. You also have objectives, such as "defuse the bombs", "destroy the comms-towers", or "activate the satcoms". You get a wide array of weapons. You get:

    9mm Machineguns
    15mm machineguns
    25mm machineguns
    unguided rockets
    guided rockets
    oil slick
    flame thrower
    smoke screen
    emp launcher

    rail gun

These are the guns you get to dispatch enemies. Oh, and the machineguns sound SO COOL! Each machinegun 9mm, 15mm, and 25mm, has a totally different sound, and each one is better than the last. They're awsome!

    (out of 5)

    Graphics: 3

The graphics are pretty good, but not the best. They are clear, though, so you can make out enemies and objects clearly. The lighting and explosions when you fire machineguns are great.

    Sound: 5

The sound, as mentioned above, is great. Each gun has it's specific sound, and the sound is ingenious, especially the machineguns.

    Gameplay: 5

It's a racing game! Of course the gameplay is good! You drive around shooting enemies while doing objectives in a fexed period of time. The controls are good, too.

    Multiplayer: 4

In multiplayer is pretty good. The only problem is that you have to complete all objectives in a level to unlock a level in multiplayer, and each level has it's own mode of play (chicken hunter, spy race, satcom collect), so you can't, for example, do spy race in venice because venice is and always will be a satcom collect level. However, that doesn't bring down the score because it's so fun to use your guns and gadgets on each other no matter what level.

    Difficulty: 4

The reason the difficulty got a 4 out of 5 is because the game can be very hard at some times, but it's not impossible. You can still beat it.

    Overall: 4 1/2

    Although this game gets a 4 1/2, it's so fun that it deserves a 5. Besides, 4 1/2 rounds to 5 so it gets a 5 anyway.
Whoever likes racing or shotting stuff should buy this game. It's great.
ALSO: If you put in OGSPY as your codename, you'll get to play the original 1983 spyhunter!

3-0 out of 5 stars Spy Hunter.
This is a drive around blow the hell out of everything game. You get to drive a highpowered car that can change from a land car to a boat. and if you really suck a motorcyle. Which is what i spent most of the time as for lack of health. The only place you get to get repaire is when your near your weopens van or boat which is usually toward the end and plain useless. Fairly guick Only 65 objectives with about 15 going to the Training missions. Lots of weopens. Youll have to win missions in order to get most of the other than the oil, machine guns and unguided missles

    Defensive
Oil slick which can seriosly mess up anyone's day, if there behind you
Smoke screen. does exactly what it says obsructs the view of the cars behind you. great to use on before corners.
Fire. another rear facing weopon that will leaves your oppnents behind you sizzling

    Offensive.
Machine guns. 9mm 15mm and 25mm. Takes out most enemy with ease
Unguided missile. You'll have to lead your targets
Guided Missles. Lot easier to use. Comes in single and swarmer which is 4.
Emp. Does something to mess with electronics and disable bombs.
Rail gun. Not sure never used it.

rent the game first to see if you'll like.

3-0 out of 5 stars The original was more fun.
So they jazzed up Spyhunter for 2003.Whoop-de-doo!Car drives well, but the courses are difficult to frustration. There's only one good thing about this game.If you enter OGSPY at the name screen, it'll bring up the original Spyhunter game from the 80s!It's the only reason for owning this game. ... ToeJam & Earl III
Average Customer Review: 4.0 out of 5 stars
    Video Game (25 October, 2002)

US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

The Toe Jam & Earl franchise is an anomaly to the trend of hyper-realism and violence in video games, and this latest addition to the series excels at creating another gloriously fun and wacky cartoon experience. The goal of Toe Jam & Earl III: Mission to Earth is to recover the stolen Twelve Sacred Albums of Funk by exploring various levels on Earth, befriending Earthlings, and finding keys and presents to aid in the journey. The real fun of the game, however, is its funk theme. You can convert unfunky Earthlings to the ways of funk, and there are inspired funky touches throughout the game, including a gospel vocal trio that sings whenever a new level loads. The game doesn't take itself seriously, and to enjoy it, a competitive gaming mindset should be set aside. In two-player mode, the game promotes teamwork by allowing players to share health (just high-five each other) and immunity to attacks. The game's combination of 80s funk and overall goofiness won't appeal to everyone, but it's an ideal mix for parents in search of a game that they can enjoy with their kids (the game is rated Teen for animated blood and violence, but the gore is all cartoonish) and anyone else with an offbeat sense of humor. --Sung Nicholas Kim

    Pros:

    • Excellent 3-D graphics
    • Kitschy fun for all ages

    Cons:

    • Erratic split-screen view in the two-player mode
    • Older gamers may find the game too simple

4-0 out of 5 stars A Platform Game Outside the Mario/Sonic Mold
I really enjoyed this game despite being completely unfamiliar with the previous two games.Like most other platformers it has all the worlds you've come to expect such as desert, ice, forest, and water. But what most sets it apart from the pack is the sense of humor; both in the cutscenes and in the wisecracks you will hear from the various characters ( crazed dentists, bratty kids, inquisitive nerds, and mischievous elves ).Unlike Ratchet + Clank and the Jak and Daxter series, the comedy here actually works since it is more mature and doesn't ape the Disney model ( goody two-shoes hero with a goofy/irritating tag-along sidekick ).And, if you're a child of the 80's, you'll get a kick out of the vinyl sleeves of the records you collect, which parody landmark hip-hop, r&b, and funk albums. The game is a respectable length and sells for reasonable price; the only knock against it is the level of challenge. It can't be adjusted, and is just a bit too easy to slide through ( although, some of the timed bonus challenges can be tricky ) once you get the hang of it.But this is somewhat alleviated by the abundance of unfunky earthlings ( midwestern 50's housewives with beehives? Hilarious! ) chasing you around the rather narrow dimensions of most worlds. All in all, this a game you should certainly pick up, since I haven't played any other that made me laugh more and few others that were quite as much fun.

3-0 out of 5 stars Just a platformer with a theme
ToeJam & Earl III is a standard platform game (think mario).

On any given level you accomplish a set of tasks that include collecting things (keys, presents, food), convert humans to the funk, and delivering something from A to B. You can play as any of the 3 characters and switch mid-game.

Along the way you can find power-ups, replenish your health, jump, run...all the standard stuff.

The focus on the funk is all about old-school hip-hop. ToeJam, Earl, and Latisha are all sterotypical hip-hop characters. Mini-level cut-scenes include sweet-honey-in-the-rock style vocals. The focus on the funk is different although taken somewhat overboard. That's ok though. This is a platformer.

This is as much of a kids game as any platformer (crash bandicoot, spongebob) although there isn't really any violence (unlike flying body parts in crash). Humans will come up and kick you but when you blast your funk-fu at them they become nice and stop hitting.

More like Spongebob, this is more tongue-in-cheek and not serious like Mario.

All in all this is a decent platformer that is a little different and somewhat amusing.

I purchased mine from an alternate seller (used & new) which offered a reasonable price.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Game!
I am quite suprised by the people who gave this game such low scores.Toejam and Earl III is one of the funnest games I have played in a real long time.

I've been a TJ&E fan since the begining back on Sega Genesis and I've been looking foward to this since they announced it would be released on Dreamcast.Unfortunatly, the game never made it to Dreamcast and ended up being released only on X-Box.Being a loyal sega fan and old schooler gamer, there's no way I'm going to buy an X-box.Toejam & Earl 3 is the only game on the whole system that I am even impressed with.

I am now in pain because this game is only released on one system.I dont want to buy an X-Box for just this game, and I dont feel its right for Sega to ask us too.I hope they port this game to the PC or create a new version for GBA or something.

Here's an idea: why not port the original 2 games onto the Game Boy Advance?I'm still holding my breath.

Until then, Jam out to the funky music of TJ&E III and have yourselves a blast! ... Read more
