    Editorial Review

This sturdy plastic car gives toddlers and young preschoolers the basic thrills of a real car, while parents can relax, knowing that this cherry-red sports car can go only as fast as their kids' little feet can carry them. Children sit on a bench-style driver's seat and poke their legs through to the ground. When they start walking, the car begins to scoot. The front wheels swirl like stroller wheels, making them especially responsive to the steering wheel. The front dash features a pretend key with a Little Tikes key chain and a horn button that beeps when pushed. A small storage bin in back can carry traveling gear or simply a stash of road snacks. Approximately 35 inches tall, 25 inches long, and 16 inches wide. --Gail Hudson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My son love this
I bought this for my son when he was just over a year old.He loves it.It is the first thing he runs to when we go outside to play.He loves opening the door and then getting out of the "car" and closing the door.He often gives his toy "friends" a ride.He still only goes backwards, but that doesn't stop him from playing with it.

2-0 out of 5 stars I must have got a lemon...
I just went through all 129 reviews for this toy, and most of them were glowing. My son received this car for his 2nd b-day and absolutely loves it.The only frustrating thing is that the steering wheel keeps coming off!Believe me, it wasn't easy to figure out how to put it on in the first place! It comes off almost every time he plays with it, and when that happens we have to wait for daddy to come home and fix it, because mommy is clueless.Just thought you potential buyers should know.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Riding Toy Ever!!
My son love this foot powered ride on!He was quite disappointed as he slowly realized that it doesn't really fit him any more.He is now almost 6 and I would say if you have a tall child, or larger footed child then they will out grow it faster. My son started to feel cramped by late four yearsor early five years of age.His feet would get stuck coming out if he had shoes on, but bare foot worked great.Head was getting pretty close to roof as well. But then again he is in the 90% for height!!

This is an awesome toy, and is sturdy, fun, imaginative. You can't go wrong! ... Read more

If you cross a red car with a plastic boat and combine the result withone of those big Victorian baby carriages, you get this entirely novel mode oftot transportation. This little car--32 inches long by 18 inches wide, andriding on 7-inch plastic wheels--has an integral plastic seat 9 inches off theground and can be powered by two little feet through the hole in the floor.Alternatively, raise the bandshell-style yellow nylon hood and push yourpreschooler around using the 38-inch-high metal handle that sticks up frombehind. The "cockpit" is fully equipped with steering wheel, beeping "horn," anignition key that turns, a gear shift, and various battery-powered soundeffects. Adult assembly is required. --Richard Farr ... 5-0 out of 5 stars We love this car!
We just got this car for our 16 month old. It is GREAT! She is currently using it with the "floor" at the moment, but we will likely remove that before the summer is over (in a few months). The handle is a wonderful idea, and saves your back at this early stage when the baby is too young to pedal herself. She loves the buttons, and even dances to the "radio". We took her for a walk around the block, and she was so proud, steering the car and honking her little horn. This car is a "must have" addition to your toy collection!

4-0 out of 5 stars Love this car
We got this car for our 14 month daughter for Christmas after researching the market to see what all is out there. We liked this one the best because we could push her around for walks and take the bottom out and let her push herself around. The buttons are fun for her to push, but her favorite is the conertable canopy she pulls it up and down and plays peek-a-boo with us.It was orginally going to be used for outside, but was compact enough to use inside during the cold months. She loves this car!She is now 18 months old and can get in and out of it by herself to let us know that she is ready to "drive the car".I like walking outside with her with this verses her wagon because you push instead of pull, so she is in front of me where I can watch her.

5-0 out of 5 stars Toot, Toot!
My 21 month old son loves this car. He received it as a Christmas gift and at first I wasn't too thrilledbecause we have a wagon we really enjoyed. I figured that he would quickly lose interest in the car and it would end up ignored and taking up precious space. However - much as I enjoy our wagon - this has several advantages. The car is both sturdy and easy to handle. It manuevers around corners with great ease. In fact on inclimate days - we have been known to use it in the house w/out fear of bumping into walls because it turns so easily. I am also happy that my little one is seated in front of me - unlike the wagon. This makes it much easier to see if he has tossed a sippy cup or pacifier, is about to lose his hat, or is attempting to stand up. These things are not always readily apparent when we use the wagon and he's being pulled behind me. Finally, our son loves pretending to drive. He turns the steering wheel, honks the horn, and waves at all passers by! ... Read more

If you're 3 years old, and your main mission in life is toarrest all the Bad Guys, it's a shame not to have the transportation tocatch up with them. The Tikes Patrol Police Car is the cruiser youneed. Powered by your own two feet sticking through the floor, it's aserious blue machine with blue-and-red fake lights on the 36-inch-highwhite roof. Thirty-two inches long by 17 inches wide, it has one doorthat opens, a squeaky horn on the steering wheel, and a handheld radiounit with sound effects (requires two AA batteries, not included). Thetoy holds a maximum weight of 50 pounds. The car is all plastic, exceptfor wheel struts and screws. Adult assembly is required. --RichardFarr ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful ride on car for all three of my children
We bought this for our twin boys a couple years ago before they were two.It took them a while to discover how much fun they could have in this car, and they seem to love it more and more every day.My 18 month old daughter has now decided it's HER favorite outside toy, and has to fight the boys for it.There are many other toys to ride-on, but that seems to be their favorite. However, my only complaint would be that the battery powered radio isn't really made to withstand daily "outside" weather (even when partially protected from the elements). The small piece of rope that attaches it to the vehicle broke after a while, and then it stopped working altogether. But, they love the car just the same, and so do I.My last bit of advice to someone trying to decide which ride-on car to buy for their kids.... You can't go wrong with the police coupe--it's so cute, it's covered AND has a little door (which is a huge hit with kids as little as 1, as old as 4 or 5), it's easy to ride, and it can withstand one of my 3 year olds riding it, while the other one is climbing on top of it.Heidi Olson

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the favorite toys in the house
I bought this for my oldest son 2 years ago, just before he turned 2, and it has always been a hit with all the kids who come to our house. At first, my son mostly liked to sit in it in the house, not getting how to push himself around.when we put it outside during a playdate with his friends, they all took turns sitting inside, while someone else pushed from behind. To this day, whether at playdates, birthday parties, or just daily play time on the patio, my boys (now 3.5 and 1) both love this car.Definitely a worthwhile purchase. In fact, we have considered getting a second (maybe a regular car or the firetruck) since this one is such a hit during play time with more than one child. Also very durable -- it's been an indoor toy, an outdoor toy, and has made it through lots of long walks (albeit slow walks, as the little guy does his shimmy-shimmy, Fred Flintstone pedaling!).A good purchase, used daily!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Car, awful assembly
My son recieved this for his 2 year birthday. He absolutely loves it. The car is great. So far no problems, everything seems secure and of good quality. The siren is a nice touch, and it's not to loud or abnoxious, although the lights on top don't turn on (the picture on the website is deceiving). The horn works good and there's a "trunk" in back for him to put stuff in.

But there's always a catch! Assembly was a nightmare. While putting this together, I discovered that the hole where the gas tank snaps on had a piece of plastic missing around the edge (it was cracked). So I had to return it and get a new one. That was a total pain and the people at Toys R Us actually gave me a hard time when i wanted to exchange it for another one that wasn't defective (what???!!!) Aside from that, the actual assembly process went very slow. Not a fun thing to do. Some of the parts were really difficult to screw together and putting the wheels on was the worst. But it's still a really cute and fun toy, so just be prepared to be there awhile putting it together. I think it took me an hour! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun and safe car toy. my son feels grown up in it.
My son is a 22 months old car lover. when we first bought this toy for him, couldn't get him out of it for hours.

easy for toddlers to use since they can power it with their own legs rather than having to learn to peddle.

Like most little tike brand toys, it is safe and durable. no sharp or pointy edges. Nothing so hard that if he slipped and hit something he would sustain any major injury. Perfect size for him to sit and pretend he is actually driving his own car. the key slot is great. We left the key slot empty so that he can insert his toy key set.

light colors seems not to get too hot in sun. plastic gets warm, but keeps shape well.

having door on only one side appears safer than having opening doors on both sides. HOwever, wish the door would stay closed a bit tighter.

5-0 out of 5 stars is this fun to play with if you are 3 years old?
My friends little brothers b-day is coming up soon and I am going to get him some stuff and I was tinking about this toy can someone please tell me if this toy is fun to play with. Thank you

Little ones who crave the feel of a real car will love scooting about in this sturdy aqua and yellow plastic automobile. Like the cartoon character Fred Flintstone, children use the steering wheel for direction control (front wheels turn easily) while making the car go with their foot power. Only the driver's-side door opens and children can sit on a bench-style seat with legs poking down to the ground for easy feet access. Dash accessories include a pretend car key, a beeping horn button, a decal gas gauge, and a speedometer. An ample storage compartment in the back can hold pretend tools, emergency road supplies, or simply a snack for the road. 5-0 out of 5 stars Grand Coupe deserves it name!
When I was little I used to have one now I am going to get one for my brother. I work at a day care and they have one and all the kids do is fight over who gets to ride in the big boy car. It is a must have if you have a little kid. They all love it. They are probably going to buy another one for the day car because it is so popular. They got a Gamecube at the day care, but everyone still insists on using the Grand Coupe. There are kids from 6 months up to 7 years to older kids ride on top. No one has ever gotten hurt. It is the best toy. One time they where fighting over who got to go in it and they accidently pulled of the door the company sent a new door with all the hardware! It is a great buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good quality
This car seems to be really sturdy and built better than other brands. My toddlers love it and fight over who gets to ride.

5-0 out of 5 stars Discerning Toddler, with discerning Dad, highly approve
My Daughter has an elevated sense of taste, even at 2 1/2.
She liked, but didn't love, the original Cozy Coupe. She wanted the Grand Coupe, no questions. She and I ordered it from Amazon, through ToysRus. The order was simple, the delivery was exactly as forecast. The assembly was also simple, a screw gun helps, although I didn't try it without one.
As far as the car itself goes after a week or so of use....
    Four thumbs up!!!!
She rides in it, watches her favorite programming in it, plays independently with it, we play together with it, if I let her she'd likely sleep in there too. She's thrilled, which, of course, means that I am thrilled.
The trunk, or rumble seat, is a big plus, you'd be surprised how much a little thing like that means to a little person. Scruffy the dog loves it back there, a ton of necklaces, bracelets, rings, and two or three juice cups fit nicely too.
I will do ANYTHING for her, if you feel thusly, buy it, it's the Benz of ride ons.
Gotta get a gas pump, mileage is not as good as we expected. Five Stars anyway.
    Fantastic Toy!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great multi-purpose toy!
I received a purple car (unlike the picture) like other reviewers but it was for my granddaughter so I didn't care! She is 2 1/2 and actually rides in the car very little but enjoys covering it with blankets or scarves and pushing her doll in it.Her little friend gets in the car as soon as he arrives. My favorite part is the horn!*@&!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toy worth every penny!!
My son was given this car at only 10 months old.I figured there was no way he could enjoy it so young.I was wrong... he absolutely loves this car and never grows tired of it.He climbs in and out and in and out... over and over again. He opens the gas cap and closes it.He opens the door and closes the door and pushes it around. As a matter of fact, pushing this car around helped my son learn to walk on his own. And then the sound buttons. He presses those and loveshearing them over and over again. All and all, I can say that I would recommend this for a 1 year old's birthday present.I think that my son will get maximum use out of this toy.He will be able to enjoy it until he is 4 or 5 years old. Also, about the sounds... this car has been left out in the pouring rain several times and it still works like a charm. This is a highly recommended toy. This is an all around great toy, it has helped my son learn and perfect quite a few motor skills, it has helped him learn some fine motor skills needed for pressing the buttons and opening the gas cap, it helps spark his imagination, it is easy to put together when you purchase it, and I would buy another one in a second.

1-0 out of 5 stars You messed up my Grandsons Christmas
I placed my order and rcvd confirmation of the Tyke bike, blue, yellow and red, in color, for my gransons Christmas. This is the only thing he had asked for.It is his favorite toy at daycare. He opened it today, 12/19/04 since he and his mom will be traveling on xmas and they celebrated early.Much to our surprise and his VERY DISAPPOINTEMENT, he opened a purple and pink girls car.ALL HE DID WAS CRY WHEN HE COULDN'T PLAY WITH IT BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE EXCHANGED.I AM TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH OUR SHIPPING AND QUALITY ASSURANCE ON THIS ORDER. ...
