4-0 out of 5 stars Aint too bad for a simpsons game
I love the Simpsons TV show but I never liked the video games becuase Simpsons Wrestling was crap, Road Rage was good 1st off but got repetitive and is the best out of 3 before hit and run but its still crap and Skateboarding was crap but not as crap as Simpsons Wrestling. This was good and I lent it off a friend. If your parents wont let ya have GTA (I'm allowed it even though I'm 13)this is perfect and it includes your favourite cartoon! Practically the best part is knocking over people and if u think the Busted part from GTA aint here it is because if you're Hit and Run meter is full (u can tell when it says hit and run on the screen)the cops will chase ya. The plot is s*** but for video games, I just play for fun really and this is a good break from shooting people in games like GTA and Splinter Cell. Buy it for fun and dont take it seriously either its 1 of those games which doesnt really care about storylines.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Simpsons game that is actually go-diddly-od?
If you look at many a Simpsons game since the show started, they've been pretty awful. Such "classics" as Bart's Nightmare and Simpsons Skateboarding are just some of the games that are in the catalogue. So finally we have an actually good Simpsons game, if only for a few snafus.

Story: It's hard to detail the story without giving so much away but basically there's something wrong with Springfield and it involves mysterious black vans and Buzz Cola and these flying bee cameras. It only gets nuttier from there.

Graphics: It was strange looking at Bart and Homer in 3D from the Halloween episode so when everybody looks like that, it's even more strange. But it matches the show's tone with Springfield broken up into 3 sections.

Sound/Music: You get the classic theme by Danny Elfman and other pieces of music that you might've heard from the show. The voice actors reprise all their roles which gives everything a feeling of authenticity and something familiar.

Gameplay: Best way to describe it is kind of GTA-meets-Simpsons. Springfield is divided into 3 sections: first includes the Simpsons House, the Kwik-E-Mart, Springfield Elementary and the Old's Folks Home, the Trailer Court, the Rich/Poor area codes, Mr. Burns castle and the Nuclear Power Plant. 2nd area includes Krusty Burger, Moe's, the Arena, the Movie Theatre and City Hall. 3rd area includes Burns casino, Krusty Studios, Camp Krusty, the Duff Factory, and the Comic Book Store and Bowl-A-Rama.

The player controls 5 characters(Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart and Apu) and they have story based missions. Also in the level is races, hidden vehicles by doing a secret mission, collector's cards like the hidden packages from GTA and the bee cameras.

The story missions can be quite frustrating. One particular mission has you destroying close to 30 street stands then making it back to Krusty Studios within a small time limit and you barely get close to the Studios before your time runs out. The traffic doesn't help either or the rather shoddy steering. Another mission has you literally dashing from the Nuclear Power Plant to Springfield Elementary in at least a minute and it's quite a long ride.

However, like a weird addiction, you just wanna keep going no matter how angry you get.

4-0 out of 5 stars If you are a Simpsons fan, this game is for you.
This is one of very few games I enjoy that are cartoony adventure games. This game should be fairly simple to most adults, semi-easy to teens, and maybe a bit challenging for kids. This game as i'm sure everyone could guess, is along the lines of a GTA Simpsons game. But to be kid friendly, in this game when you hijack a car, you just get in the passenger side... :'(. This game is so rad though..! Even ask Wee-Man. ( He was playing it on TV and saying how cool he though it was. ) All this praise i've been giving it...it must be perfect. Not really... It's an adventure game, so it will get old quickly. ( But you can get coins you find and go around and buy new stuff for your Simp. ) This game also has another flaw: Camera control. I havent played this game for awhile, but I think it was with Homer, and i had to collect some stuff at the Nuclear Plant. The mission involved a lot of jumping, and I got mad at the camera... ( to me, a bad angle view in a game is almost the worst thing in a game... ) But all in all, aside from the bugs and little things that are annoying.. you'll find this game to be GREAT. ... Editorial Review

This is part of a series of detailed, diorama-like environments based on locations from the Simpsons television series. This Moe’s Tavern, like all the environments, is designed to interact with Simpson figures: when you stand them in various spots around the environment, thanks to the Intelli-Tronic Voice Activation System, they speak lines of dialogue. The Duff Man figure included with this environment, for example, cries out "Are you ready to get Duffed?" when you put his foot over just the right spot behind the bar. There are two other "talking points" in the bar that prompt other lines. The tavern itself is detailed, right down to the beer spout and television mounted in the corner (tuned to a channel showing that Mexican bee guy.)The Duff Man comes with cans of Duff mounted all around his belt, can move his arms up and down, swivel his neck, and grip the included mug of frosty brew. Requires 3 AA batteries (included). --David Stoesz ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF HOMER'S FAVORITE PLACES!
How can you not love having a Moe's Bar diorama?Homer's favorite watering hole...in fact his only watering hole and the scene of drunken stories, crank phone calls, and much philosophizing.Moe's is one of the best Simpson sets around.Extremely detailed with the love tester machine, corner TV, Tap handles, payphone, heck even the exhaust fan over the door.

As with the other sets it is voice activated when a figure is pushed into the correct spot. The Duffman figure proudly asks, "Are you ready to get Duffed?"But of course the voice activation works with any Simpsons character. Those who negatively complain about promoting drinking just don't get it.These sets are made for collectors, not your 7 year old.Get a grip.Great set and a wonderful bargain right now on Amazon.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Simpsons Toy Out There (FOR ADULTS!!!)
My husband and I LOVE the Simpsons. This show is not necessarily for kids and I don't think it is marketed for young kids.It DOES NOT promote drinking or alcoholism. If you've ever seen the episode with Duff Man featured, you'll know that Barney wasn't drinking because he was the designated driver that night.Simpsons is an intelligent cartoon for adults.Duff Man is a fun character is that off the charts. If you love Moe's, you need this toy for your collection.(Parents need to understand that just because it's a cartoon doesn't always mean it's for kids' viewing!Ex: South Park!!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Show the Drunkards Love Not Motherly War
Anyone with an ounce of brain KNOWS that this collectible is NOT for children and has real arrogance to post a review shunning Moe's bar for having "adult-like" humor. If your so worried about having your child exposed to alcoholism then here's a suggestion: dont buy this product. It's not like your child, who is banned from watching the Simpson's anyway, will single-handedly go out of his/her way to get this product. If anything..Moe's bar demotes alcohol..with it's trashy/unkempt look and sarcastic remarks pointing to the nastiness of the place. You worrying babblers are not in control of society or how "open" other parents are to their children. The Simpsons and this toy are not harming society, they arent causing kids to take up drinking..they are bringing laughs to Simpsons fans and collectors everywhere. I am 13, my brother is 10, and my parents watch the Simpsons with us. We've started a new tradition of putting up the different Simpson toy environments and decorating our little Springfield with Christmas trees and lights every Christmas. It brings our family closer together..and that is of course what matters..Right? ... Read more

    Ex Simpsons Main Street
Average Customer Review: 3.5 out of 5 stars
    Toy

    Editorial Review

Bring Springfield's Main Street to your own desktop, bookshelf, or ad hoc Simpsons shrine. The setting features storefronts of Lard Lad Donuts, the Frying Dutchman restaurant, the Jazz Hole nightclub, and, perhaps most crucially, Moe's Place. In addition, the set comes with two slightly less famous but much loved Simpsons supporting players: Crazy Old Man and Squeaky Voiced Teen. The Intellitronic technology lets over 100 different Simpsons figures (everyone from Bart and Homer to Sideshow Mel and Bleeding Gums Murphy) speak lines from the show when placed on the street. This is a toy that won't make much sense to people who don't watch the show but is absolutely heaven for die-hard fans. --John Moe (Note: Reviewer is not related to the notable Springfield bartender.) ... 5-0 out of 5 stars It's just a little buggy, It's still good It's still good!!!
I picked mine up at Toys R Us, they only had 3 left and it was on sale for $30 so I thought why not. The playset requires a little assembly but nothing annoying. it comes with 2 figures (Squeeky Voiced Teen & Crazy Old Man) both figures are incredibly rare and arnt possible to buy by themselves (However Squeeky Voiced Teen comes with the Krusty Burger playset too).

Once it is complete it looks great, once you have the figures on it you will have one of the best looking Simpsons displays ever! It holds 6 figures on the pegs used for talking, you can fit another 15 or so on it just to look good.

Now for that bad part, On average 3 out of the 6 pegs either dont work correctly or dont work at all, but no matter whats wrong you can fix it just by opening it up and raising a little part of the peg up. There are instrctions at www.simpsonscollectors.com

So despite its flaws this is a very fine buy

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun .. yet some problems
We actually bought ours at Toys R Us.We have the same problems as other people.About 4 of the 6 pegs work. You have to push the character on the peg to hear its voice. The button just gets you the traffic default sound. It's still worth it if you get it on sale though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the Cash
This World of Springfield item is great for any fan of the Simpsons because you can connect many of the Simpsons action figures to it and hear them speak. For the collector this is a great item because its a Toysrus exclusive and its very rare because many stores did not recieve this item. This Main Street Envirorment is worth the 60 dolalrs because it will be worth alot more in a few years. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars DIORAMA AND NOT A PLAYSET
This is a more inexpensive offering in the World Of Springfield series from Playmates.A nice diorama of the Krusty Lu studios including Krusty and Milhouse figures that are interactive to fit with other sets in the series.Krusty holds the camera and walkie talkie, in the background an Itchy and Scratchy movie poster adornns the wall. This set can connect to other sets to expand your world of Springfield.Nice and inexpensive addition to your Simpsons collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars cheap way to get krusty and milhouse
I have nearly all of the Interactive figures and I am reluctant to admit how much I've spent on certain characters--one of which was milhouse. The figures above are in fact Interactive characters and despite different facial expressions and coloring they are cheaper ways to get popular figures for your display. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Just good fun.
It was well worth the wait, having to arrange for a friend in the States to post it on to me.
It is well built, with lots of great detail, and the 4 figures have been taken straight from the TV, and made real. The phrases chosen for each character sum up the episode beautifully, and I still laugh to myself each time I play them.
Overall, a really fun toy for children and adults who refuse to grow old gracefully.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Environment Ever!
Okay, I know...it's a sickness. But, to paraphrase Doughnut Head Homer,"They're so sweet and tasty!"Yes, the Collector's Lair Simpsons environment arrived today from Amazon and did not disappoint. For the Simpsons geek in need of a 12 step, this will push you off the wagon. The figures are hysterical and as "lifelike" as cartoon characters can be in 3D.And the spoken lines are pitch perfect/laugh provoking reminders of how funny this episode was. Many kudos to Playmates for the two-story design (if only a quibble that no fourth peg is on the second story for the fourth figure). If you buy only one Simpsons set this year, make it this one.If you, like many of us, buy virtually anything Simpsons Playmates makes, this will take the central position on your groaning (ha! ha! a pun on the series' creator's name!) bookshelf.Behold! The Collector's Lair is the best environment...Ever!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Exclusive Ever!
What else can you say but YESSSSS!! this is an exelent set. Playmates has done it again with this new Treehouse of horror set. you get all the great figures from previous Treehouse of horror Episodes. the Collector, Lisa as Clober Girl, Lucy Lawless as Xena, and bart as Strech dude. This is the first two story set. i would say the only thing wrong with the whole set is there is only one acsessory which is The collectors ray gun but other than that it is a great set and well worth the 39.99 price tag. ... Editorial Review

Broadcast in 1991, the third season of The Simpsons contains a host of candidates for "Best Simpsons Episode Ever." Homer is in such good form throughout that a reasonable case can be made that he has superseded the importance of his Greek namesake in the annals of culture and civilization. The opener, "Stark Raving Dad," for instance, features a guest appearance by an uncredited Michael Jackson, who plays an obese white inmate whom Homer meets while confined to a mental institution. Other standout episodes include "Like Father, Like Clown," in which Krusty reveals he is estranged from his Rabbi father; this is The Simpsons at the height of its powers, mature, ironic, erudite, and touching while bristling with slapstick and Bart-inspired cheek. "Flaming Moe's" features Aerosmith and sees Homer invent a cocktail that desperate, sleazy bartender Moe steals from him. "Radio Bart" is another demonstration of the series' knack for cultural references, parodying the Billy Wilder movie Ace in the Hole. Finally, there's "Brother Can You Spare Two Dimes," in which Danny DeVito reprises his role as Homer's brother, regaining the fortune Homer lost him by inventing a Baby Translator. Immensely enjoyable at any level, this third year demonstrates conclusively that The Simpsons is quite simply, and by a large margin, the greatest television show ever. --David Stubbs ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Morphing Into A Legend By Season Three
Of the first three seasons of The Simpsons, Season 3 is definitely my favourite. This show has been running for so many years now, that it was clear from the start that it would gradually get better and better by each season. For example, the show didn't peak in Season 2 or 3 like most shows do; it only continued to get stronger through Seasons 4, 5, 6 and 7. This is the point where a lot of television shows are packing it up and calling it a day because the show isn't as good as it was in its early years. Not the case with The Simpsons. By Season 3, the show was the most popular cartoon in the world and had infiltrated popular culture in a way that was completely unprecedented. If Matt Groening and his team of devoted writers had actually lifted their heads from their drawing boards, they would have surely been shocked at the impact of their creation.

Season 3 opens with "Stark Raving Dad," where Homer is sent to a mental institution and meets Michael Jackson, just not as we imagine him! It's also Lisa's birthday and her present is one she could never have dreamt of. In "Mr. Lisa Goes To Washington," Lisa gets involved in politics after winning an essay writing contest, and soon learns the injustice of the big world. In "When Flanders Failed," Ned Flanders opens a store devoted to merchandise for left-handers. Homer secretly wishes his store will fail, and has to rectify the problem when it does. "Bart The Murderer" sees Bart become a Goodfella and getting into all sorts of trouble, while the rest of his classmates are out enjoying a field trip to a chocolate factory. In "Homer Defined," Milhouse begins avoiding Bart because his mother says Bart is a bad influence on him. Meanwhile, Homer inadvertently saves the nuclear power plant from a meltdown.

In "Like Father, Like Clown," Bart and Lisa track down Krusty's rabbi father, whom he has not seen since his youth when he was shunned for wanting to make it big as a clown. In "Treehouse Of Horror II," a monkey's paw that grants wishes leads humanity to fall prey to sadistic space aliens. Bart also acquires incredible powers for mischief, which results in turning Homer into a giant Jack-in-the-Box. Finally, Mr. Burns puts Homer's brain into a robot, only to find that the robot is lazier than even the original Homer was! In "Lisa's Pony," Homer buys Lisa a pony after she is humiliated at a school concert because her sax doesn't work properly, even though Homer promised to buy her a new one. Homer gets a second job to afford the pony, but the long hours soon take their toll. In "Saturday's Of Thunder," Homer builds Bart a soapbox derby racer after he fails a quiz designed to test how well he knows his son. In "Flaming Moes," Homer gives Moe the idea for a new cocktail. Moe steals Homer's creation, and the cocktail becomes a huge, nationwide success. In "Burns Verkaufen Der Kraftwerk," Mr. Burns sells the power plant to a group of German investors for $100,000,000. They discover the plant is not all it seems, and are willing to sell it back to Burns, who is also desperate for his plant back.

In "I Married Marge," we are treated to a flashback to the early stages of Marge and Homer's marriage in a casino wedding chapel. In "Radio Bart," Bart receives a microphone for his birthday which he uses to play a prank on the town, in which he pretends to be a boy trapped down a well. In "Lisa The Greek," Homer discovers that Lisa has a great knack for picking football winners. He takes advantage of her 'powers' and wins tons of money from Moe through gambling. Lisa is upset when she realises his true aims, thinking that he actually wanted to spend quality time with her. In "Homer Alone," Marge has a breakdown in the middle of a bridge and decides to take a break to Rancho Relaxo. Bart and Lisa are left with Patty and Selma, while Homer must take care of Maggie. In "Bart The Lover," Mrs. Krabapple is searching for love in a local ad. Bart messes with her mind by pretending to be a fictious lover, but feels remorse when she is stood up on her date with her secret lover. In "Homer At The Bat," Homer rules the power plant softball team with his homemade baseball bat, until Mr. Burns hires a troop of professional baseball players to win a bet. They all fall victim to misfortune, however, and the game is left in Homer's hands.

In "Separate Vocations," school tests show that Lisa is destined to be a simple housewife and not the famous sax player she dreamed, while Bart is set to become a police man! He goes on to become the school hall monitor, while Lisa rebels against her previous goody attitude. In "Dog Of Death," The Simpsons discover their dog needs an expensive operation to survive. They didn't realise this to begin with, because lottery fever had gripped the nation, with a jackpot of $130,000,000. The family pay for the operation, but the dog runs away when they resent the cost of the op. In "Colonel Homer," Homer finds himself in a country-western bar after a big row with Marge, where he stumbles on Lurleen, a beautiful songstress. He gets her a record deal and she becomes a big star with him as her manager, but Homer must decide between his superstar and his family. In "Black Widower," evil Sideshow Bob reappears intent on marrying Selma. Everyone is happy for the marriage except Bart who sniffs trouble, and finally proves that Bob intends to murder his new bride for the money.

In "The Otto Show," Otto loses his license after a riotous visit to a Spinal Tap concert. He moves in with the Simpsons but is urged to get his job back. In "Bart's Friend Falls In Love," Milhouse falls madly in love with a new student, Samantha Stanky, after a sex education video at school. Bart's jealously drives them apart, landing Samantha in a Catholic School. The final episode of the season is "Brother, Can You Spare Two Dimes?" in which Homer's half-brother Herb Powell returns off the streets and attempts to resuscitate his sagging fortunes with an invention that allows babies to talk to adults. Mr. Burns discovers that Homer is sterile, and that he could sue the plant for millions. Instead, he presents Homer with a cheque for $2000 at a phoney awards ceremony. Herb begs for the money to invest into his new creation, and gives the Simpsons presents they've always wanted after it becomes a huge success.

This season is an incredible collection of 24 episodes, in which every single one is of superb quality. Most TV shows have at least a few rubbish episodes per season, but this is simply not the case for The Simpsons. The quality is astounding, and the minor characters add immensely to the feel of this show. Selma and Patty, Mr. Burns, Moe, Barney, the 'tortured soul' Krusty, Otto Man and Mrs. Krabapple are just some of my personal favourites. This DVD box set includes running commentaries for every single episode. I've not actually listened to any of them, because I've only just finished watching each episode on their own. I think it is a bit excessive to provide running commentaries for EVERY episode, but I guess there's so much genius that goes unnoticed in each episode that it would be criminal not to point them out! All in all, *essential* - nothing more. A must have!

5-0 out of 5 stars Unrivaled by its animated peers...
Originally a spin-off from a one-minute segment of The Tracy Ullman Show, The Simpsons morphed into the then-burgeoning FOX network's most successful program. As the longest running animated television show in history, and the longest running prime show of any type, The Simpsons is an American treasure - a combination of humor, wit, and satire that examines not just the lives of its eccentric characters, but also the society, culture, and world in which we live. Fun for adults and children alike, The Simpsons is a cutting edge television comedy that, like Seinfeld, changed the television landscape in the 1990's by creating a new genre of TV fun - spawning large network investments in new series such as King of the Hill, Futurama, and The Family Guy.

Like all new things which smash the paradigm of life, The Simpsons is unrivaled by its knockoffs, and the show doesn't show signs of slowing down. If you haven't yet visited Springfield, then I definitely recommend that you pick up The Simpsons DVD (Season 1) to catch a glimpse for yourself. You have no idea what you've been missing...

The Simpsons (Season 3) DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere in which Homer's co-workers have him committed after they mistake him for a mental patient. While in the New Bedlam Home for the Emotionally Interesting, Homer meets a tall, stocky white man who claims to be Michael Jackson. The Simpsons befriend the man who eventually admits to being bricklayer Leon Kompowsky... Other notable episodes include "When Flanders Failed" in which Ned Flanders opens a store at the local mall called the "Leftorium" (catering only to left-handed customers) and "Lisa's Pony" in which Lisa's overwhelming desire to have her own Pony nearly drives Homer to an early death as he works 24-hours-a-day to afford the expensive pet...

Below is a list of episodes included on The Simpsons (Season 3) DVD:

    Episode 36 (Stark Raving Dad)
Episode 37 (Mr. Lisa Goes to Washington)
    Episode 38 (When Flanders Failed)
    Episode 39 (Bart the Murderer)
    Episode 40 (Homer Defined)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great books, bad condition
I ordered my books from here and the hardcover came torn. I must warn you to be careful ordering books online, you never know what you're going to get. I orderd my books for $30. If I had orderd later I would of have to buy for $45. It seems amazon rose the prices. The price is the same as in the stores so I advise you to get it in stores because you never know what your going to get in the mail. Or you can wait till it's $30 again or buy from a seller. Now on to the books. This hardcover includes 3 books. The first one features seasons 1-8. The second one features seasons 9-10, the third one contains seasons 11-12. Each one contains things you might of missed facts and other stuff like production photos songs and more. I reccommend this for all simpsons fans.

Its got quotes, what Bart writes on the chalkboard in the intro, couch gags, special guest voices, writers, screenshots, episode number (i.e. 8F05), air date, scene selections, runtime, and a whole lot more. All of this for only about $30, what a bargain.

Now I have seen every single Simpsons episode up-to-date but sometimes I forget about an episode or about a quote from a certain episode that I forget but now all I do is look over at my episode guide, track the season down and from there I find out what I needed. This book isn't just for looking for episodes and finding quotes or stuff like that, it can also be entertaining and a time killer (I mean that in a good way). So if you're stuck in the car going on a vacation, you can open this Episode Guide up and have yourself a laugh and maybe even find out some useful stuff that you didn't know about. This is a strong recommendation for any Simpsons fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Simpsons Forever!
I have the first book that covers seasons 1-8 and it is an absolute must-have for Simpson fans not in front of the internet who want to remember specific shows and lines from the shows at their fingertips. It has brought hours and hours of joy to my friends and I. I think the guy from Belgium is just bitter and might want to consume some Duff. ... Read more

    5-0 out of 5 stars SIMPSONS...OLD STYLE
This retro flashback simpson's Playset has been designed to look as the Simpson's did when they first premiered way back on the Tracy Ullman show in the 1980's.This was a time when the figures looked a bit cruder and less detailed. They talked a little slower and deeper (especially) Homer.

Here we have Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and little Maggie all standing in their living room.Unfortunately the environment is not compatible with other figures but that's a minor complaint as this set is more of a specialized item anyway. And hey...for the $10 bucks that Amazon is dropping it for you won't get a better deal.Well worth it.Great display piece.

5-0 out of 5 stars JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR
I was looking for a action figure set of the whole Simpsons Family: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. Now, here are the pros and cons.

    Pros:
    Contain of whole Simpsons Family
    Cheap Price(Bought here)
    Fun

    Cons:
Living Room NOT compatible with other characters.

5-0 out of 5 stars What's up you toy nerds?
The concept of collecting toys when you can afford a credit card is absurd, that is why I am a toy NERD. This particular flashback set has been out for a while,I'm glad it's cheaper in price cause it's getting ridiculous especially with the independent toy stores. So my review is this: it's good. I saw the picture and I know what I was getting. The delivery was quite efficient and speedy Gonzales. Last I'd like to add that I DO OPEN my toys, cause you only become obsessed with mint condition and never enjoy the essence of the collectables. Get a life me. ... Read more
