    Editorial Review

Devil May Cry 2 brings us back to Dante's world, and this time his fellow demon-fighter friend, Lucia, has her own disc. OK, she sounds a bit like Celine Dion, and her plot's a little silly, but she has her own disc with a reasonable 13 missions. She's refreshingly clothed for a female character, and like Dante, she can transform using "devil trigger"--the equivalent of rampage mode in other games. Dante's disc holds 18 missions, with a few redundant maps between the two characters.

Visually stunning, Devil May Cry 2 offers minute details that envelop the player. For example, when walking on the roof in a little Italian villa, you can hear the distinct sound of tiles under your feet.

As with the original Devil May Cry, this is not a game for children. It comes with a gore warning, but in this game some of the gothic elements--like the Demonochorus (possessed cherubs) or Infestants (energy-sucking insectlike things)--might disturb even an adult's sleeping pattern.

This is one game where it really pays to pick up the strategy guide, and here's why: Players need to complete the mission in as little time as possible. Since lots of great power-ups are found in secret rooms, you would waste a lot of time endlessly inspecting doors without it, and never reach the coveted S status that comes with a fast run through a level. The overall grade is a combination of your rankings in style, collected number of orbs, the number of items you used (the fewer the better), damage, and your overall clear time. This isn't just an attempt to get you to buy more, we promise: you'll get far more orbs, find many more secret chambers, and enjoy the nuances of the game better with the guide.

Characters can jump off the walls Matrix-style, shooting from midair. The game allows for limitless ammo and energy. These and many other facets recommend Devil May Cry 2, even if some fans find it less engaging than the original. In our opinion, it's as addictive as other sequels from successful franchises--Final Fantasy comes to mind--and we're hoping for more reincarnations. --Jennifer Buckendorff

3-0 out of 5 stars Not THAT bad, but bad! for Capcom...
Ok. It does seem like this game was thrown out in a hurry. I liked the wider area's because it let you do the stunts that are allowed in this game. (Wall walking and etc.) The guns, like in any dmc game, do nooooothing to the bosses. (unless you use the rocket launcher over and over) The melee fighting gets repetative... and the lack of story was horrible... Ok so some guy wants demon powers and bla bla. I looooved the city stages and the last levels. The ending makes you want more!! to the story as well... Part 3 totally! made up for all this, but I'm still waiting for part 4! 'cause of this game's ending... Not to mention Dante's personality is... well, Lacking! Although I like this look more than part 1's.

Overall, it does not! live up to the first dmc. Orbs are soooo hard to get and like usual, items are expensive. Don't expect much, but enjoy it as much as you can. There's at least a little something you can get out of it. :P

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Game
Ok, for those who said they beat the game in 5 hours.. What level was your weapon at.. 2? lol, did you even bother upgrading them to 4-5? that would take much more than 5 hours, because youd have to collect much more orbs. Also try the game in "must die mode" Don't just play it in easy mod and claim "OHH THIS GAME IS EASY I BEAT IT IN 5 HOURS". Also some people said this game is all about jumping and shooting, Are you a f***ing Newb? You can melee the enemies too, oh and the walking on the wall sin't useless.. it's more "stylish" I didin't just press triangle randomly , i learned the combos.. here's anotehr part of the game you should try.. The only things i didin't like about this game is the lack of monsters and the lack of diffrent monsters.. also the underwater levels, wtf is that, that's juste lame but.. oh well. the 2 cd / 2 chars thing is fun, the story.. the only thing i understood is that you have to kill demons.

It's a great game buy it, don't be a newb and play it easy mod without upgrading your weapon to 3-4 and without learning the combos!

2-0 out of 5 stars WHAT A BLOW....
First, TEHERE IS NO STORY-LINE WHATSOEVER.
Second, it's camera work often makes you frustrated so that you can stick you Dual-shock controller up into the ceiling.
Third, the battle action is so dull, slow-paced, and reapeated until you get sick of it. (By all means, do not expect some cool, stylish sword actions from the first game.)

    Need I say more?
...Nope. I think I made my point.

SUGGESTIONS: *DO NOT* BUY THIS GAME JUST YET. RENT IT FIRST. YOU WILL THANK ME DEARLY :) ... Read more

    Editorial Review

How big is this game? Even publicists for other games end up talking about Vice City when they call our office, babbling in the same helplessly intoxicated way that afflicts everyone who plays it. The achievement of Vice City (which, as everyone knows by now, is set in the 1980s and offers an all-new, Miami Vice-inspired story) is not only that it manages to live up to an absurd level of expectation, but that it takes the game places that fans of its predecessor Grand Theft Auto 3 never dreamed of, and that it achieves this astonishing level of innovation without losing anything that made GTA3 the bestselling PS2 game of all time.

After a brilliant homage to the era of the Commodore 64 in the opening credits, the first thing you'll notice is the improved graphics, which are smoother and more detailed, and--with effects like neon lights reflected on rain-slick streets, and intense Florida sunlight--have a lush, tropical look that immediately gives you a strong sense of place. The architecture is more fabulous by tenfold, with art deco buildings, high-rise hotels, and believably seedy back alleys. The control scheme is essentially the same as in GTA3, but the cars handle much better, and in pedestrian mode there is a new crouch move. You will have access to fast, great-handling cars right away, as opposed to GTA3 which made you unlock the second island before you could get your hands on any respectable wheels. This game has such riches to offer that there is no need to be chintzy with the vehicles.

Cops are more vigilant this time--minor offenses like whacking innocent bystanders will more often than not get you a two-star wanted level--and are harder to elude (though they still can't seem to climb stairs or negotiate sharp turns). So while free-roaming exploration is as fun as ever, there is more incentive to perform the missions instead of randomly raising hell. Not that that's a bad thing: even lazy criminals like myself (in GTA3, I would rather toss hand grenades into traffic than follow orders from some rude Mafia boss) will be quickly caught up in the vivid characters and hilarious, fascinating story, in which you play an acid-washed-jeans-wearing thug named Tommy Vercetti. Where in GTA3 missions were blocky, schematic affairs only nominally connected to the story, this time tasks move the story briskly along and deftly blend cinematics and game action. For example, there is a scene of a character throwing Tommy a gun, at which point you are suddenly thrown back into the action and must make an instant decision about whom to trust and what to do.

There are more, and more detailed, indoor environments, including a hotel, police station, and mall (a slight downside to this is that some of the more elaborate indoor environments require load times). The layout of the city, with tons of backyards, narrow alleys, and fire escapes, encourages creativity when eluding pursuit, as does greater access to rooftops. Get your motorcycle up the fire escape and a whole new world of action is possible, including... well, use your imagination.

This overview barely scratches the surface of the Vice City experience, its colorful explosion of music, clothes, combat, and brilliant voice acting, not to mention the plot twist midway through the game that changes the very nature of the game itself. Though it was the outrageous, amoral violence that got all the press, the essential genius of GTA3 was its intoxicating blend of script and open-ended action. In Vice City this is--to use a cliché that is for once apropos--taken to a whole new level. --David Stoesz

2-0 out of 5 stars TOO MUCH VIOLENCE ON THIS!
I think this game is too violent for kids man I mean I see and her many little kids play this I mean why are the parents letting their Kids play this? I mean I was watching the news 3 years ago when GTA Vice City came out and many Parents have been complaining that this game is too violent. and Besides I also think this game is a Rip off of Scarface because it almost has the same story as the Movie. So if you are buying a game for a young one or for an audlt to play, Please Don't Buy this!

3-0 out of 5 stars GTA 3 OR GTA VICE CITY??!!
The fact is, after playing GTA3, I didn't want any other game because it was so brilliant!!! Now when I heard about the release of the next Grant Theft Auto, I did anything i could've done to get, and then finally in the end i got it!! Then i was shocked after playing the game until i could work with the third contact, that it was so boring and dull, and so what if it had good graphics, and so what if you could change your clothes and buy companys and different savehouses!! I was actually getting excited about being able to buy different savehouses and companys and clothes, it just wasn't what i expected. Even though i found that the game sucked so bad, i still carried on playing (since it was so easy) to see if it would get any better, but it didn't, so it was a total waste of my time!!! I was even more shocked at when you kick and hit the people when they're on the ground, that noise is so unrealistic, unlike the one in GTA3!!! The amount of money you get from missions is absolutley shocking, I meen, in GTA3 the first mission is about $1000, but in vice city the highest you mostly get is about $5000, when in GTA3 the highest I have ever got so far is $500000000!!! There are only 2 islands (the big, main ones) and then there's 3 small ones with just about 1 road in each , and even the 2 big mainlands (islands) are so small, and there's too much area with too much water in it, and so Rockstar could've even have been thoughtful enough to let the character be able to swim!! So i got really pissed off when i got that game!!! So what i think you should be going for is GTA3 NOT!!!! GTA : VICE CITY!! Thank you!!

1-0 out of 5 stars good concept, very poor execution!
the controls are horrible (especially the first person targeting), ugly graphics, missions are stupidly difficult (could be ok if not for the frustrating controls), and some of them have insane time limit. this game probably never went through quality control. cross-stitching is more fun than this stupid game!

    Editorial Review

Your job is to create and maintain a city that attracts new residents, while keeping your approval rating in good standing--to do this you must interact with each and every citizen of your city. It is only through befriending the people in your town that you will be introduced to new possible residents. Each citizen has a unique name and personality, along with various issues you must help them solve. Communication is the key. Metropolismania offers much more than just friendly greetings--conversations contain topics of discussion, quizzes, and clues on how to help accommodate the other people in town. There are five different stages, each with its own unique theme. The game offers a wide range of establishments to build: various businesses such as bookstores, restaurants, banks, and hospitals; residential housing such as apartment complexes, houses, and condominiums; and amusement facilities such as nightclubs, parks, and stadiums. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars This game is complete VOMIT!
    I hate this game!
The graphics are incredibly poor. Almost as poor as the voice acting, which is just a little better than the controls (which are god awful)!
I love sim city and sim theme park and all those, but I loathe this game.
I find it hard to except that games are being made this poorly!!
Shame on you, Natsume! Harvest Moon is a good game. I can't believe it was made by the same company!
I wasted $15 on this trash and the value isn't even worth going to the hassle of selling.

Play this game for free if you hate yourself.
Rent this game if you feel you deserve to be punished.
Buy this game if you feel suicide is too good for you.

You'd be better off getting any sim game on the ps1.

They obviously got a child to program this game.

I look forward to putting this game in the microwave.

    COMPLETE VOMIT!!

3-0 out of 5 stars You'll Never be a Metropolismaniac!!
If you can get past the tongue-twister title, Metroplismania is a cute game.
But is it fun? Maybe a little.
The idea is to build a city to contain a certain amount of residents in a particular time space.
I will always try any simulation game. This one is fairly fun, but a little monotnous.
Basically the idea is to place down houses and shops and talk to the residents of the town.Agree with everything they say!And give them gifts you know they will like. One of the goals is to make them like you!!
Give it a go, but don't buy it.It isn't worth buying.I also found the controls horrendous. This is the first PS2 game I have played since purchasing my own PS2 console yesterday afternoon.I hope maneuvers are easier in other games.
Overall, a cute game, an OK game, with a pale humour. But what age range would love this game? That's a hard one. There is not enough to it to be adored by grown ups or teens.Yet the controls in this game take some getting used to, so I'm not sure if it would be children. Not small children.
Maybe kids around the age of 10 would really enjoy it.
To end this review, let me rermind you I have given this game 3 stars. That means it's worth a look, but it isn't the Sims!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars pretty good
The game is pretty fun and addictive.
The graphics aren't too good, but the buildings are pretty cool looking.
It doesn't really have much to do with building a city, but it's pretty fun putting in buildings, solving other people's complaints, and personally, I like to jump.
I think that they should make this game a little more like Sim City in the fact that you get to control more things in the city.
If they were to come out with a sequel to this game, I would probably buy it in the hope that it was better. ... Read more

James Cameron’s Dark Angel is a thi3rd-person action-/adventure game, with emphasis on stealth and fighting, based on the hit TV series of the same name. Set against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic Seattle, the game lets players take on the role of Max, a genetically -enhanced super-soldier, on a quest to reclaim her past by finding her sister and fellow genetically -altered escapees. As a child Max escapes from Manticore, her military creators, Manticore, along with a handful of her siblings, and makes a life for herself on the edgy streets of 21st-century Seattle. 1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother. This is utter crap.
This one I don't get.The developers of this game took the time to license the actual theme song of the sorely missed TV series, gets the actual actors Jessica Alba and Michael Weatherly to do the voices for the characters, which lends a great degree of authenticity...and manages to come up with a horrible, horrible game.

There's nothing wrong with the look of the game, and the Dark Angel franchise fits the popular genre of stealth/espionage games quite well.

But I noticed one thing amiss right off the bat:Where's the tutorial level?Every game I've ever played which involves stealth, like Metal Gear Solid, Syphon Filter and Splinter Cell:Pandora Tomorrow, gives you a tutorial mission because in a stealth game, not only do you have to know the controls, you have to get familiarized with them within a gradual learning curve so that movement of your character becomes second nature; in a stealth game, no good player ever "remembers" the moves -- he feels them. But Dark Angel has chosen to forego this step, and the result is that the controls, already not hugely responsive, are all but alien to me.I figured out some things on my own -- the manual is scanty and poorly written -- but nothing can replace the all-important tutorial.

There's also no radar, a must in a game of this type, and looking around is laborious and risky. Most of the time the camera prevents you from seeing what you need to see to sneak through the missions effectively. No maps, either -- and added to the fiddly mission layouts, I spent so much time running around missions trying to find things that the gameplay just slowed to a crawl. To slow things down even more, the loading times on this game are incredible.Even the "Replay Stage" command, when you're trying to stop your current mission and start from the top, takes about a minute to load.Awful.

I don't like the proportions of this game -- too much environment and not enough of the character. It makes moving around seem more sluggish than it should be, and when you're fighting, it really spoils much of the fun factor.I'd rather have had a character-screen proportion closer to Syphon Filter or Jet Li's Rise to Honor. And whoever came up with the idea of using a Matrix-style "bullet time" while you fight obviously doesn't know how to design fighting games, because it makes fighting a bore. You can't control when the slow-motion occurs, so you end up having to wait before you can execute the next move. This feature basically takes your in-game control of your character away from you randomly -- something that should *never* happen in an action game.

I am tremendously disappointed, because the TV series, the wonderful character of Max, the setting...everything was just perfect for a video-game translation. And they had taken the effort to get Alba and Weatherly, put James Cameron's name on the box, and get so many of the stylistic touches right (good one-liners in the dialogue) that it's a shame that the game is mechanically unplayable.Seems like they spent all their money and time on aesthetics and forgot to test out the mechanics...no wonder this game is now widely available second-hand for less than six dollars, less than a year after I first saw it available.I will probably sell mine soon.

4-0 out of 5 stars This Game Doesn't Live Up To Any Of It's Expectations
    Don't Judge A Game By It's Cover.

This Game Impressed Me For Like 3 Minutes When I Started Playing It And I Passed Levels Fast But Then It Started Getting Boring And Matrix Styles Is Gettin Old, Enter The Matrix Is Better Than This I Even Give IT (Enter The Matrix) 5 STARZ. This Game Is Crappy And I Realized That I Wasted A Perfect Good Solid Ten Buckz Of Buying This Piece Of Crap Instead Of Going To A Movie, So I Traded This For Downhill Domination.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, a Star Trek first person shooter for PS2!
This game is great! So many missions, so many settings, so many weapons! It has decent replay value. It's also great that they included the voices of the Voyager cast.

5-0 out of 5 stars My first and probably one of the best star trek games
This was a fantastic game. The graphics and the story line our great. You start off as second in command of the hazard eam, but believe me, that wont last for long. You start off in a holodeck simulation fighting off some borg. Next, the ship is tranported to some sort of graveyard of ships. You get to walk around the ship interact with the crew. You go the etherian ship, a standard away mission. You go to a ship called the scavengers, and when you get deep into the malon section and almost into the irogen, dont bother jumping into the pipe, i spent a long time on it and i never got in, there is a much easier way around. After a little surprise from the borg, you beam back to the ship, get a pep talk from Tuvok, and off you go to a borg ship, fight some borg, get to shoot a couple of 8472, you get back wit h an upsetting loss. Then, the harvesters are coming to attack you, they do that when you get to the graveyard. Then you go to a gunship, hint , look to the left for little things to jump on as soon as you get in, you'll need them to get to the top level. You fight some scavengers, then the weapon systems are malfunctioning so you cant destroy the harvester ship from there. Guess, what you have to take you own little team to fix them, use your torperdo lanucher, it works well. That's how far I am. It's an excellent game, if you like first person shooting combined with an interesting storyline, buy this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Game Ever
This game was the best game ever I couldn't step away from it. It is a game/story that takes you from the Voyager ship to battling borg, klingon, malon, species 8472, and the deadly/new creatures The Forsoth.
    Here is the game summrey.
You are Alexander Munro (or Alexandria Munro depending on if you are a man or a woman) and you have to try to rescue your teamates from a borg ship it is up to you and you alone. You find out after that you are just in a holdeck program. As you walk out there is a call from captain Jain Way informing you that Voyager is under attack by a mystieres ship that dose not respond to hails.Torpeatoes are releast from Voyager and the enemy ship explodes. But when it exploded it created a magnetic fealed that transports you and Voyager into a parralell dimension were danger lurks right around the corner. It seems that every thing is going wrong at once. The ship has almost no power and it is up to you and the rest of a group called "The Hazord Team" to save Voyager...

this is the beat soccer game you can get. i am a huge fan of fighting games and soccer, so this game was perfectfor me. the best feature is the boost button. with it, you can headbut, punch, and dropkick other players weather its to get the ball or not. plus you can exicute matrix style kicks at the goal, like scissors kicks, frontflip shots and even a flamingo karate shot!i could play for hours and you probablt will to if you get this game.

    Editorial Review

To get it out of the way: yes, The Getaway is a by-the-book knockoff of the massively successful Grand Theft Auto series. It is, even if it was started five years ago. (Did anyone at Team Soho play the London expansion pack for the original GTA?) But Ms. Pac-Man was a clone too, and no one complained about that. Ripping off ideas is as old as the idea of gaming, period, so this fact alone is not a sin. The Getaway carries through on its mission well enough, if falling a bit in the shadow of its predecessor.

The mission of the game is this: in what's becoming a post-Sopranos, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels stereotype, you're a tough guy, with guns, of course, and a fair amount of attitude. Having formerly worked for the British Mafia, you're looking to exact some brute force/we-ain't-no-James-Bond revenge on the boss. You jump in your car (or any car, really) and the turn signals let you know the path to follow your enemies. By the next scene, you're off and shooting, throwing out and receiving British slang and curses (e.g., "Look out! This guy's a nutter"). This pattern--car and shoot, shoot and car--is repeated over and over as you complete more missions. There's clearly a great deal of technical expertise in the game's design: knock the car door and it swings open wide, altering the aerodynamics and causing drag on that side of the machine.

Is The Getaway a good game? Yes and no. If you're a die-hard fan of GTA, you'll most likely be annoyed that you have no health meter, that the famous GTA humor is missing (Getaway is pretty dour), and that the missions are fairly linear and exacting. If you're not a rabid GTAer, you may actually like the fact that there's no health meter, since the idea is, after all, authenticity. In real life you wouldn't exactly have a "low life level" meter ringing in your ears in the event of a scuffle, after all. There are no maps and no ammo counters--causes of concern to some players--but again, the idea is: "real life." The superb photorealism (40 square kilometers of London were carefully mapped out with cinematic quality) goes hand in hand with this pursuit of reality above all else. Stylish and intentionally minimalist in its game mechanics, The Getaway is likely to have more than a few die-hard supporters (otherwise known as "mates"). --Jennifer Buckendorff

    Pros:

    • London, looking really cool
    • UK one-way streets, any which way you want
    • Notable array of vehicles
    • Catchy/cute Britishisms
    Cons:
    • Parents beware: the F word is in use
    • Lo-o-o-ong cut scenes. Getaway thinks it's a movie.
    • Nope, no strafing

3-0 out of 5 stars Not GTA!
So, the price is right for this game, I do recommend it, but be careful. The whole deal with the VERY slow British cars can get annoying to those who are used to the new GTA games where just about every car goes lightning fast. The gunfighting is definately more fun than the driving, since while you're driving you're pretty helpless and can't shoot out of your car.Another thing taking away all challenge is that there is no health pickups. You will gradually heal back to full health as you sit and wait and no one comes to attack you, so you can recharge yourself and pop back around the corner for another go at the nutters.I can't recommend it to GTA fans, but to fans of amazing stories and story-telling abilities I do recommend this game, it's like participating in a movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars MORE OF A MOVIE THAN AN ACTION GAME.
This game is more of a movie then an action game but thats cool anyways. It is a Grand Theft Auto clone with violence, doesn`t have anything in-common with the Driver series apart from the real city the graphics are the best ive seen and you get Licenced(real) cars and buildings the storyline is great and isn`t short as you play as a former gangster-turned-strieght called Mark Hammond (for the first half of the game then you play Frank Karter). The storyline starts at 8:00a.m. in London,England and Mrs. Hammond and Alex(Marks son) walk out of a building and then Charley Jolsons girl friend YasMin and two body guards walk out to talk to her but Mrs. Hammond says the wrong thing to Yasmin and gets shot and Alex runs of but Yasmin catches him and takes him and Mark runs out to catch them and his wife dies in his arms and a civilian sees him and drops her shopping(probably the one who tells the cops that Mark killed her) but mark picks the assasins gun ratha then his one that means that his gun will be DNA tested and he will be the one blamed for the murder and then the game begins.the sound isn`t anything to be proud of apart from the gun sounds and actings.and i have to admit its fun getting arrested on this so i get Mark arrested alot unlike GTA where they just point a gun at "Fido"(GTAIII),Vercetti(GTAVC) orCJ(GTASA)

3-0 out of 5 stars An Okay Game,NOT Recommended for Grand Theft Auto Fans!
This game is okay. The story is about a wife who gets murdered and a son who is kidnapped. The father must get them back.

While the story-plot is strong, the game play is not.Yes, you can take any car off the street but there is nothing fun to do with the cars.In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, you can take any car, but you can add modifications (hydralics, bumpers, paint jobs, etc.) and race with it.In The Getaway, you just drive around with them and that's all you can pretty much do.

Next, there are hardly an civilians to shoot and the cops chases aren't even that great. It's just some cops chasing you around.

Lastly, there are no displays on the screen. You don't know your health (and it's really unrealistic that your can recover full health by leaning on a wall), and you don't know how much ammo you have.

I'd have to say this game is okay, but compared to GTA: 3, Vice City, San Andreas, True Crimes: Streets of LA, and Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, this game is worthless. Now the sequel, The Getaway: Black Monday, may have some major improvements but I'm still sticking with the GTA games, True Crimes: Streets of LA, and Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Probably the best conflict game
This game is long and I did not complete it in 3 days like most games. I have played Conflict vietnam and it's the same game again but with a few things added and it's set in jungle. This game is hard at first then you get the hang of it, I played the demo and I was so addicted when crawling through the bushes to be not seen by a tank.
I remember on the demo level(Where in the cut scene Foley tried blowing up the bridge with c4 and got caught...)when I did not know how to control your friend so when I rescued Foley I kept switching to his character and did not know to order him to follow me, so my point is it seems complicating at first with the open maps that seemed big...
Conflict Desert Storm 2 is a very short game and you'll be surprised if you played it when the credits start.

but the graphics aren't that good

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
Fans of the Tony Hawk series will love it. Great graphics and levels. For instance, skate through a college, a jail, or create your own skate park and have some fun! The special tricks are incredible, and so are the regular tricks. I love tweaking around with the tricks until I find the perfect ones for each skater. This game is awesome!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Skateboarding Game! Great Replay Value!
This is the newest Tony hawk Pro Skater game (Not counting Tony Hawks Underground)

In this game you get to play as one of the following: Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, Rune Glifburg, Eric Koston, Bucky Lasek, Bam Margera, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska,Andrew Reynolds, Geoff Rowley, Elissa Steamer, and they even brought back Bob Burnquist! You can also play as a custom player. (My personal favorite is Rodney Mullen)

Unlike the first 3 THPS games, in this one you don't have a time limit to do the objectives! Instead, you just skate up to people and press circle around them and they will ask you to do something. If you don't complete the objective you just press start and choose "Retry Last Goal" and you can try it again, saving time and not having to restart the level.

I really like the levels in this game. they are challenging and fun. I love the music in this game too, in fact, one of the songs is by my favorite band!

There's not much they could do to make it better. It's got great replay value, because you'll want to beat the game with each player! And you could just go for a free ride if you dont feel like doing objectives. I think this is the best THPS game so far.

    Editorial Review

Medal of Honor: Frontline marks the debut of the Medal of Honor franchise on the PlayStation2. In Frontline, you go behind enemy lines as Lieutenant Jimmy Patterson. Your missions include the D-day assault on Omaha Beach, tracking your Nazi nemesis aboard a speeding armored train, the epic battle for control of the Nijmegen Bridge, a strategic choke point in the Allied drive into the heart of Nazi Germany, and a top-secret, high-risk mission to steal the Ho IX flying wing. The Ho IX is an experimental Nazi jetfighter so powerful it could turn the tide of World War II.

There are 20 levels of gameplay spread across six major missions, all based on real World War II events and all adding up to one complete and uninterrupted story line. Fully realized and highly-detailed 3-D environments include six times the number of nonplayer character animations as in the original Medal of Honor. The game includes detailed German, British, and American troops, as well as Dutch civilians, all with full facial expressions and lip synch. More than 20 authentic WWII weapons include the Colt .45, Springfield sniper rifle, Panzerschreck rocket launcher, MG42 mounted machine gun, and the Browning automatic rifle. Enemy vehicles include panzer and tiger tanks, trucks, motorcycles with sidecars, and armored railway scout cars. There are also player-driven motorized railcars, trains, and mine carts.

An improved enemy AI requires you to consistently vary your attack strategy as the situation dictates. Go it alone to accomplish your mission with the utmost stealth or work as part of a highly trained military unit to wreak havoc on the enemy. The game offers intense noncombat scenarios as well, such as a disguised, weaponless infiltration of an officer's pub brimming with Gestapo to make contact with a Dutch Resistance operative. Medal of Honor: Frontline includes more than 70 minutes of original orchestral music from composer Michael Giacchino, and the game as a whole features eight times more audio than the original Medal of Honor. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars fire away
this game being my first purchase for ps2 (actually why i finally bought ps2) i am a little biased but i can honestly say this is a good game.while it is true that dead guys disappear and live ones appear in the middle of walls and trees, i find this comical.this is pretty straight forward gameplay, you see bad guys you do whatever you can to kill them.the levels do not offer multiple paths but chances are you are buying this game just to blow germans away, not explore. if you want multiple paths and scattered savepoints, check out rising sun. ( but beware rising sun is SHORT and VERY EASY to beat.) another cool option is the controls are fully customizable. the biggest drawback in frontline is the lack of savepoints.the last few levels throw everything at you and while replaying hones your skills you can only play the last level so many times before giving up where you seem to drop dead every time.if you want a thinking game you might want to pass on this one.if, like me, you like to run around and shoot at everything, damn-the-torpedoes style, then this is a great game for you.forunder 15 bucks you can't go wrong.

    Editorial Review

Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland takes the Harvest Moon series in a new direction by offering a deeper and more robust role-playing experience than past titles. It might be best described as a life simulation. The object is to successfully save the village from turning into a resort. Construction begins in a year, so you must find a way to rescue your homeland within that time frame. Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland will offer nine unique ways in which to complete your task, and focuses more attention on relationships over profit. Befriending the people in town is the key to successfully completing your task. This is the first Harvest Moon title to be in a true 3-D environment. It looks much more realistic without losing the cute animation style for which the series is known.

There are 20 new characters--each with his or her own unique personality--richly detailed 3-D environments, and enhanced interaction with animals, including dog training and horse racing. Other compelling details include the ability to collect and cook recipes, real-time character movement, and the capacity to obtain helpful objects by doing part-time jobs. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Just one year
I have played other Harvest Moon games and I like them all, and I like this one too. The only problem is that you only get one year. In the other games, you can form lasting relationships, get married, even have kids, get divorced, remarry, etc. year after year. This one starts you from scratch after a year (you lose) or you manage to save the homeland (you win). You get to keep your stuff, but all the relationships start over. It's cool that there are different endings, but I lost interest after the second one- and that's only because I was putting up a brave face since the kids got it for me for Christmas and I didn't want them to feel bad! I was pretty disgusted the minute I realized I'd lost all the ground I'd gained just cause I beat the game.

This was particularly disappointing because I thought surely the PS2 version would have all kinds of extra side quests and fun stuff to do after the first year.

2-0 out of 5 stars What the...!?
This game has a great concept, lots of things to do, and a cute look. Why the low score? Well, the in-game time system is, in a word, wack. I would barely get outside and get my bearings, and it would be mid-afternoon already! Then, one time, I got lost trying to find a path in the "morning", and by the time I found it (a few real-world minutes later), it was "night"!! How am I ever supposed to build a farm and save the homeland if all the stores are closed by the time I get to them!? This game could have been Animal-Crossing caliber, but instead it's just confusing and weird. Too bad. I was really looking forward to it.

3-0 out of 5 stars An Entertaining Game
Ok, the mission to this game is to save the Homeland from being... turned into an amusement park.
You meet many characters, and experience the life of a farmer. Farmer style. You can buy chickens and cows, adopt a stray dog, and earn a trusty steed from doing great work at Bob Brownie's Part-Time job.
I recommend this game to everybody.

Great game, you'll love it, if you are into car racing, or racing of any type whatsoever. You can upgrade your car after winning a race, or be the cop and try to catch all the other races, which I found to be much eaiser, for some reason...

4-0 out of 5 stars It's mostly the car....(veiled Gone in 60 Seconds reference)

I've played both the PS2 and the PC version of this game, and I prefer the PS2 version. *

The tracks are challenging, especially in later races where the cars are faster yet less 'controllable' in tight turns. The scenery is amazing, and things like rain, smoke, fog, and sun glaring into your eyes all add to the ambiance (and the challenge!).

But what does it are the cars, especially the "NFS Editions" which are slightly tweaked on performance and seriously 'blinged out' on looks. The bubblegum-pink Diablo is way dope - the sort of car you'd expect to see cruising around Miami's South Beach club district...

I'd say that of the NFS series, this one is the top-rank for playability, especially the point-unlock feature. The High Stakes "lose the race, lose your car" feature is missing, but it's not really missed. It's not one for the 'racing sim' types - for that, you'd probably enjoy Porsche Unleashed or the Undergound series more.

*(If you prefer to play on the PC, get a high-end system. On my mid-range system I discovered low frame rates and 'stuck' controls when there are other cars on screen - if you manage to get out front, things smooth out a lot.)

5-0 out of 5 stars if you want real, get off the couch and into a REAL car!!!
I am totally addicted to this game! Sure, I get frustrated with it, but that just tells me that it's time for bed. I've read some of the other reviews, some of y'all need to get a life! It's just a GAME! And it is damn fun for what it is. First of all, all of the cars do not handle the same. You can definitely tell the differencebetween the Opel Speedster and the Ferrari F50. And over-steering is easy when a car accelerates like the Ferraris and Lambos do. The jumps are awesome! The graphics rock. It makes you wince when the cops are bashing your Murcielago off the road. I love the tournaments in Championship mode. And the timetrials are cool, too.
I was kind of apprehensive about playing Johnny Law, but I must admit it is fun chasing down law breakers. The catch up feature is cool, and I like how traffic moves over to the right for you when you are flashing your lights. Unlocking cars and courses makes all your hard driving worth it. So just sit back and take this game for what it is: hours of pulse pounding, adrenaline pumping fun! :) ... Read more

    Editorial Review

A great showcase for the PlayStation2 platform, Dynasty Warriors3 is both a terrific hole-up-for-the-weekend title and a good multiplayerparty game. The developers must have been busy with many a user test andfeedback survey form: most of the features people complained about in DW2have been overhauled or tweaked. These improvements mixed with the addition ofthe two-player option make this a truly great PS2 title. If you liked the lastversion, you'll be enthralled with this combination of compelling story andcomplex martial arts action.

Parents--and anyone else interested in a game that's a little more sociallyredeeming than some of the current fare--take note: Dynasty Warriors 3 isloosely based on remarkable Chinese legends. The violence is well-done andsubtle, and playing this game could actually cause your kid to pick up a book(something other than a strategy guide).

    Here's what's different:

    • New characters--and more characters--all with unique personality traits.
    • Great new cinematics (they're better visually, and provide a more compellingstory line).
    • RPG-style weapons management and "found items."
    • Two-player games, including cooperative musou and free mode, and combativesingle games.
    • Fewer life buns, which means players must be more judicious within bigbattles (and you can no longer think of officers as food sources).
    • Important updates are now spoken aloud instead of flashing by as screentext.
    • More balance in the powers given to each character.
    • Characters have been recalibrated so that individuals other than the bigbruisers--including women characters--have their own advantages. (Zhang He mayeven be the first gay character in one of these games, based on his killerfigure-skating attack.)
    • Archers are now even more of a threat, and are reasonably indestructible.
    • For many maps, you now have to be a general before even thinking of climbingon a horse.
    • One word: elephants

Here's what stayed the same (some of which probably should have changed):

    • Sparse maps that cause you to retrace your steps frequently.
    • The stupid Limp Bizkit-meets-Yes soundtrack.
    • The controls, which is only nice for those of us who built up calluses onthe last version.

4-0 out of 5 stars The addiction is unbeatable.
This was the first PS2 game I ever bought back in June, 2002. I had played a 10 minute session of Dynasty Warriors 3 on an Official U.S. Playstation Magazine demo disc, and loved it. It was so addictive; it was a pure adrenaline rush of video game excitement that you usually only find in 2D action games. The actual game proved to best just as intoxicating. I still play it to this day, even though the game is 3½ years old. I'm not the slightest bit tired of it.

In DW3, you take control of a warrior from one of three warring factions in ancient China, and fight in battles with the other factions in a quest to unite China under your rule (and yeah, this actually happened in real life 1800 years ago). The battles take place on HUGE maps with hundreds upon hundreds of soliders in which your goal is to generally kick the crap out of anything that comes near you with your weapon of choice, and lead your army to victory. It's like a RTS game, except you're actually controlling an individual fighter instead of watching from some sort of "Godchair". It's not as depthless as it sounds, either. The combat has a large variety of normal and special attacks, as well as bow & arrow, and horse combat. There's also some 2 player modes (co-op and versus), and Endurance and Time Attack minigames.

And with 41 (!!!) memorable characters to play as, each with different fighting styles and hilarious quotes, as well as 20 levels (with different sides for each), the replay value is nearly unparalleled. IGN couldn't have said it better when they told us "years from now, you'll still be popping this game in regularly".

There are several technical problems that hold this back from a perfect score, though: There's a high amount of fog and slowdown (I suppose this is because of how many units are on screen at once), the cooperative mode (which is fun as well) makes the aforementioned problems even worse, and the procees you have to go through to find your character's 4th (ultimate) weapon is so ridiculously specific, that it's literally impossible to do without looking at an FAQ or a list of cheat codes.

I don't think that detracts from the fact that the game is BEYOND 5 stars in terms of fun. If you've ever been curious about this series, buy DW3 first. DW4 and DW5 may be more impressive in terms of presentation and graphics, but none of them have that magical, nostalgic that you get after playing 3.

    "I defeated an officer."

5-0 out of 5 stars Dynasty Warriors 3
Ah yes, Dynasty Warriors 3. Now, before I go on I shall tell you that I am a huge fan of these hack and slash games. I had Dynasty Warriors 2 and 4 before I got 3, but what the heck, I don't care.

This game is rather interesting. Particularly seeing how high a K.O count you can get (personal record: 2218). The one problem is it is really hard to get the final weapons for final characters, and say you wanted to act a specific character (I wanted Liu Bei) I had to clear the game twice in Shu Musou mode before I could earn him. It took a while.

I like the horses in this series of games, but here, in Dynasty Warriors 3 the quality of the horses didn't seem as realistic as in the other games. They moved oddly, were too thin and looked rather like foals, not warhorses. The manes of the horses stick up in the movies, like they've been gelled.

All in all (apart from the horses) I adore the game and I recommend buying it if you are into this sort of thing!

    5-0 out of 5 stars DW3-SINGLE MOST ADDICTING GAME EvEr ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Okay, I realize that I'm writing this review in July of 2004,quite a LONG while after this games release, but that's besides the point. I honestly believe that this game bests DW4. It has 30 total characters (some rock, some aren't so great), tons of levels, and different storylines for each warrior. This game has got to be one of the most addicting games of all time. I got it when it first came out, and I'm STILL pulling it out and beating the crap out of enemies :D !!! To be fair, I'll say
DW4 is a great game, but I felt it lost that Beat-The-Crap-Out-Of-Them feeling that DW3 gave me- there was to much magic and cutscenes, and not enough ACTION! Although the graphics are improved, it just didn't measure up. DW3 also has several other fun playable modes. There is a challenge mode- Time Attack and Endurance (self-explanatory names:) and a versus mode 2 beat the living tar out of your friends in! Why we're on the subject of friends, I might also mention there is cooperative gameplay. This is extremely handy for unlocking 4th weapons, plain fun, and obtaining the MANY, MANY items in the game! This game can be found VERY cheap on the internet, and is DEFINITELY worth it. I enjoy it very much, and can't wait for the PSP version (and the psp itself for that matter :) to come out- I'll b waiting! Happy Gaming!

4-0 out of 5 stars FUN,BUT TOO SHORT!
I played this game and loved it ,but it dose take to long to load and if you die you have to hear someone talk or do a challenge over. it dose follow the book and movie. I thought the boses were not hard i thought arogong and the snake were going to hard ,butt i didnt even die once, but overall a pretty good game.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun but tiresome
this game would rule if only two things were changed.no make that three.it should load less, it should talk less, and it should have better controls.it only has avarage controls.it sucks when it comes to lasting 5 minuets without loading, and it won't shut up and let you play.maybe i'm baised, because i love Harry Potter, but it's still really fun.

4-0 out of 5 stars this game is so freakin fun
