5-0 out of 5 stars Kid-approved "sneaky education"
This puzzle is my 2 1/2 year old son's absolute favorite. He does it on his own, and is starting to know the state names. He will do it over and over and over again, and thinks it's great fun.I think it's a great way to help him learn! It's kind of nice when a learning tool has to be pried out of my child's hands....

If I had one complaint, it would be that Alaska is on the bottom left corner of the puzzle; it would have been nice if they'd made the puzzle larger so they could stick Alaska in roughly the right place. Not a big deal, though.

5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT educational toy!
My 3 year old son spotted this puzzle while we went browsing in the store. He wanted it SO badly even though it was rated for older children.Within 3 days of playing with this puzzle, he quickly mastered all 50 states, knew exactly where they all go at a moment's notice. Then in a few days, he is able to clearly identify and pronounce each state accurately. He can read a little bit, and I had to show him North and South so he could place the Dakotas in their places. We had moved to Arizona from California a few months earlier, so he understood that his "small house" was in CA and that we now live in AZ.Two weeks after playing this puzzle, we went to California to visit our old friends and favorite places.Upon returning home, he demonstrated he really understood the map even more and even knows Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean and several cities. Because he has 2 other USA maps, he has said several times that "Michigan is a mistake! They forgot to cut out Upper Peninsula (Upper Michigann)"!!!!I was originally from Michigan and know that Michigan has 2 parts. What I'd like to see in this puzzle is 50 individual pieces, even though they may be small and that their cutouts reflect more accurate shapes (maybe make the states a bit bigger!).My parents still have the wooden puzzle from late 1960's with all 50 pieces. Now, where can I find wooden maps of other places:Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia, showing pictures of the countries, along with capital cities and other information? My son is already learning a few countries in Europe and is so eager and so ready to absorb more information in geography! We play the USA map puzzle practically every evening before he goes to bed! He's already map-literate far ahead of his peers and even amazed his summer camp teacher!Who says a 3 year old can't learn geography?!;-)

4-0 out of 5 stars A good start
I would have liked more information to be included on the puzzle. Each piece is cut out in the shape of the state and has the state capital printed underneath.I think they could have taken this a step further adding key information about that state such as it's nickname, state flower or other educational information. It is a good way to get very young children to learn their state capitals and the shape and geography of the U.S. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars have a similar product
Our kids have been Rescue Hero nuts for years. We have a similar police car put out a few years ago....not the mission select type. They have a great time playing with it. It must be at least 3 years old and still works great. A year ago someone bought our youngest the Mission select Fire Truck. It has never worked properly. I feel badly for the person who bought it hoping for all the cool things it was supposed to do. I felt really let down by Fisher Price as all the other product from this line have been great. Thankfully our kids accept things as they are and still play with it...I could never pass it along to anyone and wouldn't recommend it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Defected toy
I sent this to my grandson, who loved it. The frustrating thing is it never worked as advertised. We cannot get the action figures to inneract, therefore I consider it false advertising. He still loves playing with it but it should perform as advertised. This is our first experience with Resue Heros & it wasn't a good one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toy, incredible deal
My son has long wanted this one.The 43% discount is amazing, really.Like all other Rescue Hero toys this is really well made, easy for my son to use (no small parts, etc.) and very durable. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

LeapPad system's unique, multisensory interface already allows kids to enhance reading skills without making it seem like work. But this book has the added attraction of featuring those creepy (but, oddly, cuddly) creatures from the blockbuster movie Monsters, Inc. While top scarers Sulley and Mike figure out that kids are fun, not fearsome, children will exercise reading comprehension, retention, and concrete/deductive thinking. They'll also enhance their vocabularies and grammar skills along the way.

It's simple to use (kids insert the cartridge and book into their LeapPads, and use the attached stylus to hear information), but this system is an innovative technology that provides entertaining, effective learning, designed by a Stanford-trained reading expert. As well, the system has been credited with the TMA's Educational Toy of the Year and People's Choice awards. The books are designed to correlate with national academic standards for the grade levels they target.

Two notes: Make sure the LeapPad book you get is appropriate for the child's educational level; this one should be a challenge for kids up to age 8. As well, know that some LeapBooks work on both LeapPad and LeapPad Pro, like this one, but some books only work with one system. --Diane Beall ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Hands Down Favorite
This Monsters Inc. Leap Pad Books is my 6 year old son's hands down favorite! Although he has other leap pad books, this is the one he returns to time and again. He started by playing the games and then began reading along with the story. Highly recommended product, even fun for adults to play. !

    3-0 out of 5 stars It's a Scream-fest!
Unfortunately, this is my least favorite Leap Pad Book --- The screaming of the characters really gets on my nerves.Leap Pad has many other books that are enjoyable to play.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yet another hit!
What a great way to get kids interested in learning! My son loves this book. At first he would listen to and read the story over and over. Then he started playing the games within (some are pretty complicated)and now he loves every aspect of the book. The coolest part is that he is reading, doing math, and problem solving all at once and having a great time doing it. I highly reccomend this and all other Leap pad books to any parent who wants their child to learn while they play, or vice versa. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Game
My 5 year old enjoys playing this game. The rules are easy to learn. The review that says Scooby saying something is incorrect, there are no talking components in this game. The only thing requiring a battery is a small flashlight and that is to light up the green villains to see if you have a card that matches. It was easy for us to set up (you do have to apply a few stickers and insert batteries), learn and best of all it's fun.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun but broke the first day
My two kids, age 4 and 1 both loved this game, but unfortunately it broke the first day. What a terrible disappointment for them.Nothing we did could make Scooby call out.As much as they loved this game, I won't be buying another one.It is just too easily broken.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun fun fun !
My sister who is 4 loves this game. She plays it so much I think the game is gonna break! But it hasn't. She loves scooby doo so this game was perfect for her. So much fun to get all the villians and to see her face light up when they do. A definate buy ;) ... Read more

This is a really Neat leap pad book!My kids LOVED the movie! And were ecstatic, to get the leap pad book.It has some entertaining games, and my kids ask to play this book alot more than others. I highly recommend this book!It has alot of FUN stuff in it.I hope your children like it as much as my 7, 6, and 3 year olds do.. :)

4-0 out of 5 stars Like it pretty much
Pretty nice game. The illustrations do not look exactly like the characters in the movie. They are more like cartoon illustrated (see front cover-- the illustrations inside are similar). This was a little dissappointing at first. The voices are pretty good, it has some nice songs, and teaches some educational facts about the sea.My son's favorite part is the deep sea page.

5-0 out of 5 stars grab shell dude!
Alex got this for Christmas and absolutely loves it! This is neck and neck w/Lion King as his favorite LeapPad book. The best part for the 'big people' in the house are the jellyfish game and the turtle game. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

As wonderfully adaptable as LEGO bricks are by their very nature, recent sets have occasionally resembled model-building kits rather than neutral construction toys. And while we appreciate a spaceship or a movie tie-in as much as anyone, there's something refreshing about this 600-piece building kit. Although it comes with the ubiquitous LEGO graphic manual, which here features 130 different building ideas, the stars of this show are the bricks themselves. Just about every shape and size is included along with a wide range of colors (even purple) to let LEGO maniacs construct just about anything their minds can dream up. The big blue-handled bucket is convenient for storing and transporting these 600 pieces, but it also features plenty of extra room for other bricks that may find their way in. --Charlie Williams ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Purple Bricks!
PURPLE BRICKS! Yes, that's right, its the first time regular Lego bricks are available in a good quantity in the color purple. TRU have got an exclusive hit for themselves with this set...with six hundred pieces for only around fifteen bucks, this is one of the best deals you'll see for these bricks and parts (about a quarter of the price per piece, compared to other sets). The instructions are not the usual step-by-step but rather show many many simple designs to inspire creative building, including big letters and numbers and figures and animals. Perfect for holidays, birthdays or whenever you want to make something big with a word or two underneath/nearby. Also great for family building. Comes with plates and slopes and some face features for critters/people. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Starter set, but needs more
Legos are the greatest toy ever created, hands down. However its harder and harder to find a basic set of legos with all the good stuff. This set is an excellent starter with enough parts for numerous vehicles. However, I had to give it a 4 for one reason, however. There was only steering wheel!Any 4 year old will tell you, as my son did, that every vehicle has to have a steering wheel and a person to put inside. What is the point of making something if you can't have someone to drive it!My kids were constantly fighting over the steering wheel until I had to buy another set that had lots of people and steering wheels.Nevertheless, this is an above average collection of parts with easy to read instructions (for people who like that kind of thing - the point of legos is to NOT follow instructions). The coolest parts are the lights and grills, which really give your vehicles some realism.I'm glad Lego hasn't totally succombed to 'theme' sets.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best toy I ever bought my son!
My six year old son has lots of wonderful toys, but for the money, this is the best value we have ever got!I had no idea that he would play with this every single day!For hours! He loves to build (he built the knex rippin rocket rollercoaster all by himself Christmas day).He has built every model in the guide book several times, and then built many from his imagination. At first, we were disappointed in the way Lego shows some pictures of models, without instructions. They show this very detailed, awesome fire engine. My son was hesitant to try and build it, and to be honest I didn't think he could from just a picture.I encouraged him to give it a try, and a little while later, he came to me beaming! He had done it!!!Amazing. We can hardly wait to get the robobot set. This building set is awesome, and far surpassed my expectations.

5-0 out of 5 stars My child took off with this set.
I bought this set for my four year old because of how much he likes vehicles. Although he is a bit young for the set which is rated for 6 and up I knew he could use the wheels to create his own simple vehicles and grow with it.I was pleasently surprised to find he could build the first design on his own with me guiding him through the instructions.

There are 290 pieces with innumerable special detail pieces which we were very lacking in, in our collection.A down side though is with ten wheels only two vehicles can be made at a time. With other wheels from other sets though there are many more cars that could be made. The instructions are great and designs fun.The instruction book is for me the greatest benifit because of how it will guide him into making more complex designs.Highly recommended. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Rugged Riggz Are Great!
My son got this as a Christmas gift just after he turned 2.He is 3.5 now and still loves it! The motorcycles hold up really well, but they can be tricky to put on the flatbed. So, he really plays with them separately. The truck and trailer, however, are his favorite toys and he plays with them all the time.He can get the trailer onto the truck very well on his own and carries his hot wheels around on it all the time.It is virtually indestructible.Buy it for your 2-year-old!

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely great toy!
My 2-year-old loves this truck and the motorcycles! It's very durable, and even has endured my toddler trying to ride on it.Love the no-scratch tires too! This is a VERY, VERY nice toy and a great gift idea for any little boy.

5-0 out of 5 stars fantastic non-chokable motorcycle toy! woowee!
Honestly, the truck that hauls the toys gets mostly ignored but the motorcycles OVERJOY my son. I bought them when he was a bit over 18 mos - he loves motorcycles and it's almost impossible to find a well designed motorcycle toy for the under 3 set, so this toy is definitely worth it.
No chokable parts, very durable and chunky enough that it probably won't get lost under the fridge, couch or low table (which as we all know can cause a mini-meltdown). It's great that you get two motorcycles, one for each grabby toddler hand, hahahahaha. ... Read more
