First published in 1962, Mille Bornes (pronounced "meelborn," French for "milestones") is an auto racing card game whoseobject, for each team of two players, is to be the first to complete aseries of 1,000-mile trips. Each player has a hand of six cards andpicks more in turn from a central pile. There are Distance, Hazard,Remedy, and Safety cards, each with various subgroupings, whichdetermine the course of play. This Collector's Edition reproduces theartwork of the original game. 5-0 out of 5 stars Wracked my brain to recall name of wonderful pastime!
In 1962 my brother and his wife played this game with my husband and me.We had more time than money, as young couples often do, so really enjoyed the fun this wonderful game afforded.Although I tried to recall it's name and have been wondering about it since last month, suddenly it popped into my head.Voila!I'll buy 2, one for me and one for my brother, to introduce to our grandchildren!

2-0 out of 5 stars Nothing
Mille Bornes is a fun game.Great for kids and adults. But there's absolutely nothing special about this special "collectors edition". You're paying $15 for a deck of cards and a flimsy plastic tray.[...]

5-0 out of 5 stars A Genuine Family Game
Actually first released by Parker Brothers as "Touring" in the 1920s it went through several editions until it was released in 1960 in the French Mille Bornes version. I don't know if it was actually ever played in France, but it's been around in the US for close to 100 years.
A game where children can actually compete with adults on an equal footing - and they can play it on their own. I still enjoy it fifty years after my first game.

2-0 out of 5 stars Return of the general lee is alright at best
The game is alright.Number one problem THE GENERAL LEE it's to high off the ground and to bright of an orange. If you look at the TV Show the car is alot darker orange then it is in the game. The front bumper and the back bumper needs to be lower to the ground and the push bar is to wide. The words on the roof that says general lee needs to be blue not black. The front of the general lee is to sloppy compered to the real 1969 Dodge Charger. Now lets talk about the gameplay. Ratbag tried but they came up very short. They need to stick to the other games they make. Warner Brothers Should of Got EA to make the game or Atari. When you are driving the general it slides and does 180 s and 360s just by tapping the analog stick. Driving overal just feels like driving on ice. Now lets move on Hazzard County the whole place is pretty impressive but could be a whole lot bigger. Besides a couple of Pretty noticable facts. Cooters Place isn't in the middle of nowhere it's in the town. The town is way to small i know that it's small in the tv show but not that small. The Actors did a great job of bringing the charcters to life and sounding authentic enough to sell the game. But the fact that the game is way to short. I can beat it in 3 times in an hour and a half. I'am a die hard dukes fan thats the only reason i bought. PLEASE SOMEBODY MAKE THIS GAME BETTER.

1-0 out of 5 stars Money wasted!!
On the surface, the game looks good. They have all of the original cast (except for those that have passed away) back to voice their characters in the game. There is a good storyline to be had, but then we get to gameplay itself. In a word TERRIBLE!!!A person spends more than half the time necessary to complete a mission in that you cannot steer the vehicles!!You turn one way and the car oversteers back the otherway.I think whoever set this game up must have been "asleep at the wheel".Also the camera does not do very well following the vehicle (you) around as you drive. Then there were the countless times I would get caught up in fences, trees, etc, and not be able to get out. Now, if you flip and land upside-down the game will flip you right-side up, but get caught up like I did and you have to reset the game and start over.Another problem this game has is check-points, THERE AREN'T ANY!!!Of course if they wanted to make up for that they would have given you the ability to save during a "mission".I suppose if you're an absolute die-hard fan of this show you might enjoy it.I grew up watching the show and found it very disappointing.

2-0 out of 5 stars 5% fun and 95% frustration
Overall, sure it's enjoyable.I first played the demo at a friend's house. Then I rented the game, and my best friend and I worked our way through the game.Notice that I did not say we played our way through the game.Unfortunately, it's nothing short of a chore to get through this game.Certain things you have to do have very strict (sometimes on the very brink of impossible) time limits. If you fail to meet your goal in time, then it starts you at the very beginning of that "mission," if you will. But you may have worked for hours to get where you are.

This game does not let you save very often, and there are no options in terms of difficulty levels. If that feature had been added, I would have much better things to say about this game. This game has a level of re-playability only to the extent at which you remember the frustrations you endured during your first run of gameplay.I re-started the game one night, but after a few minutes decided, "Oh yeah, I remember how irritating this game eventually became."So, I quit.

It's sad that the people who made this game were unaware of the fact that not every game-player is born with a silver controller in his mouth. But they were obviously expecting their target audience to be absolutely perfect in terms of hand-eye coordination on the controller.

I recommend everyone to avoid this game and wait for the developers to produce a game which proves that they are in touch with their market. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for building fine motor skills
I bought this for my 5-year-old nephew who loves Lego sets and Harry Potter. While it provides hours of entertainment, concentration/focus and independent play time for him it also helps him work on his fine motor skills -- which he doesn't get with sports and other favorite activities. He needs a little assistence at times because some of the pieces are very small and a little tricky for little fingers.

5-0 out of 5 stars This keeps my son busy for hours!
I bought this for my 4 year old son (as his 2004 Hanukkah gift). He LOVES it!

Although it is way too complicated for him to put together himself, he still loves it because it comes with over 900 pieces and he gets to be very creative...(and it keeps him busy for hours!) Highly recommended.

Editorial Review

Oh no! It looks like your granddad was right--things really were better in the old days. At least they were if you liked 2-D platform games, and Yoshi’s Island is indisputably one of the best ever made.

Yoshi’s Island goes back in time to recount the touching story of the various Yoshis' attempts to unite Baby Mario with his parents. You don’t actually control the Italian plumber-to-be but instead his dinosaur pal, who has the curious ability to eat his enemies and then immediately turn them into eggs, which he can then fling at more enemies.

Since Yoshi isn’t particularly fast and can float in midair for a few seconds after making a jump, the whole dynamics of the normal Mario gameplay have changed, but the same incredible attention to detail and endless imagination that mark all of Nintendo’s best efforts are still here in full effect. In fact they’re joined this time, after the rather plain-looking prequel, by some wonderful pastel-shaded graphics that were jaw-dropping when the game was originally released in 1995 and still manage to impress now.

As with the other Super Mario Advance titles, this game also contains a four-player version of the original Mario Bros. arcade game, making it even more of a bargain than it already was. --David Jenkins, Amazon.co.uk ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Too MUCH Fun
This game is AWESOME! It was my first GBA game. BUT, there are some cons. Some levels are just too long and/or impossible. Many times I think i just get lucky. Anyway, my dad saw it and didn't put it down until he beat the game. (no, he didn't play for 24 hours straight.) A fantastic game for mario lovers (like me.) A great idea would be to BUY IT!

5-0 out of 5 stars yoshis back
yeah, and its just as cool as it was on snes, man this game owns!!! i used to play it on the old system for almost 10 hours sraight, and now its back and better than ever! this is a must have for any gba owner!

3-0 out of 5 stars Cute enough, but I just can't get into it
Super Mario World 2: Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island. Phew! How about that for a title. I admit I found it a bit confusing putting these Mario Advance games in order but I think I've figured it out now. You gotta admit it's a bit convoluted.

This game is a simple 2D platformer like most of the retro Mario games only it has four more levels than the SNES version released in 1995. It's got easy-going gameplay in the typical Super Mario style, gorgeous graphics, generic sounds and not much to keep me interested. Yoshi IS impossibly cute but even for a guy who likes cute stuff this game is just TOO childish.

3-0 out of 5 stars NOT AN R4!
This toy is increadably kewl but is deffinately not and R4 unit, it's an R2, althougfh it has an inaccurate name it is still and awsome looking and durrable little toy! a recomended buy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice R4 Unit
I'm looking forward to seeing this guy in Episode III. He is a gold-colored droid that apart from his color looks alot like R2D2. Cute little guy and a fun toy to play with.

5-0 out of 5 stars R2-D2 with a k-razy paint job!
Ok,it's not so k-razy,but this R2-unit is a really fun little guy.Place him near any light source and his 'eye' glows orange. His arms/legs/whatever are poseable as are his feet/hands/whatevers and if you spin his dome around - presto - his little third leg (I'm sorry,I really don't know what else to call it) extends downwards or stows back in his body.

And,big plus - that stupid looking blue ball thingy can be easily removed and thrown away - I mean, stored for the day when this becomes a valuable collectible.

Good for kids of all ages, except those young or strange enough to try and eat it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent World War II Game
Call of Duty: Finest Hour is an excellent first-person shooter game. One excellent aspect about the game is that you play the game in three different perspectives: Russian, British, and American. In each campaign, you experience what is was like to fight the Germans in different settings (Stalingrad, North Africa, and Belgium). The individual missions usually have many soldiers (Axis and Allie) on the battlefield, which makes you fell like you are actually there. The controls in the game are really basic, which makes the game more enjoyable. The only major problem is the game can not be played in mulitplayer format without an internet connection. Overall, this is one of the best World War II first-person shooters available today. Anyone who has this game, on PS2 or Xbox, will eagerly await the sequel.

2-0 out of 5 stars Just Way too unrealistic, Get C.O.D. for PC
This game was horrible.I mean theres FPS that are unrealistic but fun, but this game just wasn't as fun as the COD on the pc's.I mean who wants to see the guy die the same time 12 times in a row!The only part of this game I liked on COD was the online multiplayer. The number of people was great, the environments were decent and the killing was really fun.I gotta give props for the Multiplayer.Even when i started out and i wasn't used to it, i came out of the round with at least 10 or 11 kills. The Campaign is horrible but the Multi-player is pretty good

5-0 out of 5 stars Just fantastic
In a time where Mac World War II themed games are a dime a dozen, Call of Duty is refreshing change of pace for the genre. The folks at developer Infinity Ward have gone the extra mile to present a game that brings the player closer to the game with decent voice acting and realistic events. Featuring gorgeous graphics, great music, "team-oriented" gameplay, and a decent multiplayer outing to boot, this is definitely one title that fans shouldn't overlook.

Call of Duty is a must have for any first person shooter fan. The game offers a unique twist in the World War II genre, combining great visuals, superb music, and a different gameplay experience to separate itself from the competition. The story in each individual mission keeps the player immersed in the whole, and the `team' oriented single player campaign allows players to be more of a hero among other allies that are present.

In addition, the multiplayer addition provides a big boost to playing looking to test their skills with other players after the single-player expedition has been worn out. If you want a great game with lasting appeal, definitely check this one out.

Editorial Review

The Legend of Zelda series practically defined adventure gaming for an entire generation. Link, the hero of the adventure games, delighted millions by starring in games for each Nintendo console from the NES and Super NES to the Nintendo 64. Link brings this beloved franchise to the Nintendo GameCube in The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and he's more animated than ever.

The first thing you'll notice about The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker is that it looks completely different from any previous title in the franchise. Nintendo has opted to use cel-shading technology on Wind Waker; the result is that the game looks like a cartoon. Die-hard Zelda purists initially howled at this change, arguing that the game skews too young. I think it's fantastic. The cartoon animation style allows for better expression of the characters, and several of the animations--like Link trying to pick up an object that's too heavy--are so cute that you can't help but laugh a little.

The second thing you’ll notice is a focus on wind. Instead of trotting around on foot, Link travels from island to island on a talking boat, but he doesn't get far without the wind blowing in right direction. Luckily, you'll learn how to change the direction of the wind early in the game, and you'll do so frequently--not only to power your boat but also to solve puzzles. Clever use of wind makes Wind Waker stand out from more conventional adventure games.

The third thing you’ll notice is that the game is just plain fun. Puzzles are innovative and refreshing, and despite some tricky puzzles, I never felt too frustrated to keep playing. The locales you'll visit are invariably exotic and fun to explore, and the host of bizarre creatures you'll encounter (friendly and otherwise) are always a kick in the pants. Moreover, though the look is radically different, Wind Waker feels like a classic Zelda game. Veterans of the early games in the franchise will experience more than a bit of nostalgia while playing it.

The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker is everything you've come to expect from a Zelda game, and it's one of the best adventure games to date. This is a must-have title for any GameCube owner. --Jon "Safety Monkey" Grover

Pros:

  • New cel-shaded animation looks great
  • Puzzles and characters are a lot of fun
  • There's a special place in the heart of any gamer who's ever owned a Nintendo console, and that place is shaped like a Triforce

Cons:

  • Some Zelda purists may be turned off by the cartoon look

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST ZELDA GAME YET!!!
oh first of all im not under 13.Anyway Link is back for another adventure...this one is the best adventure yet.The cell shaded graphics are awesome, some say they they suck, but i think they are pretty cool. The gameplay is really fun you can do all sorts of stuff...but the bad thing is when you get your little boat that talks(i forgot the name)it just takes forever to go around the great sea on it.The audio is similar to the old zelda games some is new though. Now the game starts off when its links 12th birthday his sister wakes him up when he is asleep on the villages tower thingy, she tells him to go talk to his grandma and she gives him his green tunic. After that you will see find your sister she gives you a present...i dont want to tell what...but anyway i dont want to tell anymore secrets. You will have to find them out yourself.i reccomend this game to people who enjoyed any Zelda game before....or if you hated them, give this one a shot.Or if you havent even played one this one will make you want to keep playing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hours and hours of fun!
Firstly let me state that I have never before played another Zelda game. I just never got into them; I was a Mario girl.

That said, ZELDA AND THE WIND WAKER is phenomenal. My younger sister got it as a present and she let me play when she wasn't playing it. As soon as I got up and left for college I needed my own.

Link is adorable. His facial expressions are entertaining. All the characters are great; there's such a variety that you'll just keep on Ooohing and Aaahing at the screen, impressed at the creativity.

The fighting/action is difficult but not too much so. I've played games before that I would get so mad at that I would have to leave and come back to them... much, much later. Zelda provided no such frustration, but as I said before, it wasn't so easy that I zipped straight through it and was not challenged.

The storyline is interesting. The sailing, contrary to what some other people may have said, is not tedious. In fact, I did quite a bit of exploring just for fun while I was on my way to other places.

My sister and I spent hours and hours playing this game. In fact, I would even pick it up and play it all over again from the beginning if I had the time.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but below the bar set by Ocarina of Time
The Wind Waker was a risk for Nintendo.Besides the obvious difference in graphics due to new cel-shading techniques, they mostly scrapped the core storyline of previous Zelda games and added a different, lighthearted feel to the classic series.

Did it work?Mostly. But the flaws in the game come not from the decision to use cartoon graphics or to move away from the old Zelda storyline, but in the game's execution as a whole.First, however, we must look at the most obvious change: the cel-shaded graphics.Though the decision to use cel-shading created outrage among hardcore Zelda fans, it was actually done quite well; the animation compliments the light nature of the plot.Though a disappointment for some, these cel-shaded graphics are technically very good and certainly show off the capabilities of the Gamecube.

The plot, too, is very different from the previous games, most of which (including the amazing N64 installment, Ocarina of Time) were set in Hyrule. In Wind Waker, the setting is on various islands in the Great Sea hundreds of years in the future... though as the story progresses, it turns out that the story is not as detached from previous games as one is initially led to believe. The shift was a bold move, but was well done as a whole because of the strong ties to games such as Ocarina of Time, which created a sense of nostalgia for longtime Zelda fans.Just as important are the new gamers who will find the plot of Wind Waker to be independent enough to enjoy without any prior Zelda knowledge.

That said, the major problem with this game lies in the gameplay itself.Though various innovations were successfully added to the user interface and controls (the slick counter-attack move, for example), one can't help but notice that many of the tasks given to Link are trivial at best and downright boring at worst.Take, for example, sailing, which is Link's primary method of transportation between islands. It takes forever and requires little interaction; I frequently would set the sail's direction and leave the controller on the ground to go get a snack.Beastly sea-monsters are not all that common, and only serve as a nuisance instead of a challenge while sailing.Additionally, Link is required to go on a kind of fishing expedition at the end of the game that is seriously tedious, frightfully boring, and takes lots of time with no challenge at all. Finally, combat is smooth but easy; death by combat is quite rare for all but the most novice of players.

The Wind Waker was a brave attempt at a new direction for the Zelda series, and the new direction works, for the most part. However, flaws in the gameplay itself seriously distract from the intricate plots that define the Zelda series and make The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker a less-than-stellar addition to the classic Nintendo series.

SCOUT I-X3:The "Pistol" part of the Unity Power System, this, as the name suggests, is great for scouting. It is a single-barrel pistol with a cocking action(MUCH better than pumping, and it's like a real hangun, which is cool). This is best suited in situations in which one is well covered and is depending on accuracy.

HORNET AS-6:This is the "Cool Shotgun Thingy" which is the second largest blaster in this trinity of DOOM.It is well known that the Hornet AS-6 can single-fire as well as discharge all barrels at the same time.It is reccomended that you use single-fire unless you are caught in-between a rock and a REAL hard place, in which you can strategically use "Blast Mode", get away, and call your buddies for help.To do this successfully, you need three things: extra ammo, time to reload and pump, and the guts to do it.All in all, this blaster is one piece of work.

TITAN AS-V.1:This, of all things, is the LARGEST NERF GUN KNOWN TO MAN!!!It uses a big foam rocket, takes a little while to pump(like a bicycle pump, trust me), and is the most impressive, powerful, and destructive thing to ever bear the label NERF(seriously, you could break things with this monster).Strategically, this monster is an intimidation engine, basically "Shock and Awe" from, well, you know where.....It is the big daddy of the bunch, the one that you pull out when the rest of the N-Strike crew needs some TITAN-sized cover fire!Shortened into one smaller, easier to chew piece of review, THIS THING IS GOOD OL' FASHIONED FIREPOWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I highly reccomend this NERF gun, and the Rapid Fire 20.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dang good gun!!!!
This gun is not mine but it is cool!I was impressed with the acuracy of the pistol. The rocket hurts!!I thought the blast of the shotgun thing was cool.

3-0 out of 5 stars fun,pretty durable,and a little edacation involved!
This is a great toy.I don't own it but my friend has it.It is pretty durable,It is the most fun of just about anything(esept ventriloquisom, lol),its educational value is good because it uses handeye-cordnation.Buy this toy, and it will solve your problems for at least 2 years! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A very average game.
I wasn't that excited about MX vs ATV Unleashed, so i decided to rent it. I'm just thanking myself that i decided not to buy it considering that it is an extremely average made game.

Graphics: The graphics in MX vs ATV Unleashed are very simplistic and resemble graphics that you might find in a Gamecube. (No offense Nintendo.)To put it in a better way, they are graphics that you would find in an average MX/ATV game.

Gameplay: MX vs ATV unleashed provides the gamer with many different gametypes which include freestyle, freeride, race cross, race the top and many more. The controls are fairly simple to memorize and ihave to say, it is fun once in a while when you bust off this huge trick giving you thousands of points. However, it still feels like you are playing the first ever made MX/ATV game, as not many changes have been made except for the gameplay types, a lot more have been added.

Audio: The music revolves mostly around rap/metal rock. If you like those music categories, you will like the soundtrack. If you don't, then you wont like the soundtrack. Its as easy as that.

Online: The online is probobly the best part in this game. It hardly ever lags, and you can go up against your opponent in many different gametypes including the ones that i previousely listed.

As a result, if you are a fan of these kinds of games then i guess it is worth adding to your collection, however if you are not, i would leave it on the shelf.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointment
I purchased this game a few days ago with high hopes. I have been waiting for a good racing game featuring trophy trucks for a long time, and after I saw some in the game's trailer, I decided to give it a try.

At first, I was very entertained, as I hadn't played a dirt bike game since excite bike for the nintendo. It is somewhat satisfying performing tricks and racing on the bikes, however, this leads to my first and second disappointment, which is the driving physics and the graphics. To put it bluntly, RalliSport it isn't.Maybe I was expecting too much after many hours with RalliSport and RalliSport 2, but the game just isn't up to the level of other Xbox racing games.
Another disappointment is the collision detection.I find myself partially going through walls and hills more often than I would like.Another frustrating issue I come across, is landing jumps. Most of the time it is flawless, but other times, it seems like a landing is shaping up to be perfect, but the rider crashes. Other times, the rider "crashes" in mid air before the jump is complete. If these are just due to my lack of skill, then perhaps there should be a better tutorial.
My final complaint has to do with the "other" vehicles. The driving/flying of the monster trucks, trophy trucks, and helicopter is absolutely poor. There is no other way to describe this. Also, although I somewhat expected, the involvement of the other vehicles in the actual game is somewhat limited.
I should also mention that the menu screen is not well laid out. At first it is unclear what needs to be done to initiate a "career mode".It is also not clear how you have done on individual tracks before you select them...some type of box off to the side displaying stats would be welcome.

This game will provide hours of entertainment jumping and racing the bikes and atv's, but don't expect too much from any other aspect of the game.I can't believe I haven't purchased Ghost Recon 2 yet, but picked this up...wait for the price to drop.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Off Road Game EVER!!!
This game is the best because there is a veriety of choices between what you can be ATV, Motorcycle, Helicopter, Plane, Sand Rail And MORE!! One Bad thing it king of takes to long to load each race. Grafics are super. There are also a lot of tracks you can unlock like Glamis. Another cool thing is you can choose wheather your a Motorcycle or ATV of haveing a 2-Sroke or 4-Sroke engine lots of optons for you bike and ride to have the way YOU like it. Overall a 5 star game and worth buying. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "i love it"- says me!
personally, i hated final fantasy 10 becasue of the way the story turned out after you beat almost 50% of it. i mean hey, the animation cgis were great (like the sendings dance) but that's seriously just about it, and that's really sad. it was so amazingly linear, you couldn't travel anywhere on your own until towards the end. the only characters i liked were auron, yuna, lulu, and rikku. i hated just about everyone else espically tidus, the main character. he's annoying, stubburn, and just not a people person. he's decent in the begining but then it's like arggggggggg, no more tidus!!! he never even says his name to anyone, they somehow know it from first sight! now after a while, comes along final fantasy 10-2.it's better than final fantasy 10 in more than just one way. it has an atb fighting system, like most final fantasy's seem to have, and doesn't make you take turns; it's not linear at all, you have to take on missions and do side quests to get a full ending; had a better ending, even though there were multiple endings, they were all better than the final fantasy ten ending; has better bosses, including the final boss; has better music, that actually go along with the story; didn't repeat things like "this is my story" over and over again; is actually a fun game to replay; lastly, didn't have a sphere grid, thank you god and square-enix! that was the number one thing i hated most about final fantasy ten! it took the fun out of leveling up! final fantasy ten-two doesn't have summoning and overdrives but you don't really need them. the battles are fast and easy, as long as you know what you are doing. overall i say this:

pros:
~atb fighting system
~cool characters
~fun and easy story line to follow
~great animations, such as the beginning
~cool music
~has a very high replay value
~some what challanging
~great endings

cons:
~too many missions, things to accomplish, you can't miss one thing to get a perfect ending
~no summoning or limit breaks, one of the fun things of a final fantasy
~you can't fight with any character other than yuna, rikku, or paine
~some what too girly for any "man" to love
~doesn't have any quality that previous final fantasy's (excluding final fantasy 10) offer. as in no dramatic love scenes which make you cry, or say awww how cute! or any scenes that make you scream that stupid bast*** a** son of a b****! none of that.

overall:
this is a cool game but with one sad fact, it doesn't have much emotion in it. it's just a girly fun time game really, which is one of the main reasons as to why i loved it. even though it does have two cool songs, it isn't really what you would look for in a final fantasy. it's missing that one evil villian you have to kill, the end boss is a machine and a 1000 year old pryefly (memory constructed of dreams) for crying out loud. it could have been made better. i still think that this game is completely better than it's prequel, but that is just one person's opinion. so if you're into girly fun time gamie poohs than this game is definity for you! if not, then go buy final fantasy 9. it's better than both final fantasy ten and final fantasy ten two.

3-0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing
Okay, so, I've played FFX, and it was amazing. It was my first ever RPG game I'd played and probably will be one of the best. I was so upset with the ending and I felt such pity for Yuna and Tidus that I bought this game in hope that it would reunite them and make me feel a whole lot better. Let me tell you the plot, first: Yuna, the high summoner who defeated Sin once and for all three years ago, is now a sphere hunter (spheres=videos) she is hunting with the Gullwings, which consist of Rikku (FFX), Paine (new), Shinra (new), Brother (FFX), and Buddy (new). Yuna found a sphere of "him" and their out looking. Your old sphere grid system is gone (hip, hip, HOORAY!) and you are instead rewarding with Garment Grids, which you stick Dresspheres on, and the more you use a Dressphere, the move abillities you learn on it, as well as leveling up yourself. The graphics were okay, and the whole plot was just stupid. There isn't really a villain, unless you count Vegnagun, which is more like a silent threat. Alrighty. Lets move on to pros:
Short, multiple endings (6 of them X.X) Lighthearted, easy bosses for the most part.
Cons:
I really don't reccommend this game to anyone. No. Take that back. Buy this game if you haven't played FFX. FFX is a deep, moving game that is waaay up there with great games. FFX-2 is a bunch of sluts running around trying to find something but don't ever really get around to it and in the meanwhile are doing stupid things like singing, crying, and saying 'Oh, poopie!' Okay. Characters: Rikku is the same, funny kid she was in FFX. I liked her character because she had stupid lines that made you want to laugh so hard. Paine was just there because she was looking for Crimson Spheres or something like that. I loved her battle moves, but other than that, she was worthless. Buddy was the "keep it together" guy, even though Brother's captain. Shinra is just a smart Al Bhed kid. Okay: BROTHER. You have this feeling that he's really, really gay, but he's hitting on Yuna at the same time...which is his cousin. Basically, Brother is uneeded and made you think that Yuna was starting to fall for him because Yuna's just nice that way. Alright, the big blow: Yuna. She was a great character in FFX, calm, sweet, loving, Spira's shining light. Now, she's just another teenager, out to find her lover, that loses her temper and says, 'Oh, poopie!' I don't like her AT ALL in this story. Please, spare your heart the wound of FFX-2's lightheartedness in comparison to FFX's dark, myseterious plot. Okay. I'm done.
Overall:
Story: 2/5
Characters: 1/5
Fun: 3/5
Overall: 3/5

1-0 out of 5 stars Puts a blemish upon its predecessor
Once upon a time, I was playing Final Fantasy VII for the very first time. It was 1997, and I was upwards of ten hours into the game.I had explored every inch of this monstrous metropolis known as Midgar, dominated and controlled by the evil corporation of Shinra. It was my quest (or so I thought) to stop Shinra from literally sucking the life force from the planet, when it suddenly became clear to me that my party and I were going to have to leave Midgar for the first time to chase down a man in a black cape, a man known as Sephiroth, and before I had ever even seen his face, I had learned to fear him.To my astonishment, when I left Midgar, it became apparent to me that not only was Midgar not the only place I had to go to in this game, but it was merely a dot on an enormous world map!It was then that I understood exactly why this game was being described as "epic."Since then, I've been consistently enthralled and compelled by all of the Final Fantasy games, from its humble beginnings on NES to its mastery on PS2.

And then came this debacle of a game.Final Fantasy X-2 not only took everything I loved about the series and threw it out the window, but it veritably raped everything I loved about the original. People who disagree with me will probably say that this game doesn't appeal to me because it's "different."No.Final Fantasy VIII was different.Different is one thing -- morphing an epic tradition into some sort of quasi-Sailor Moon/Charlie's Angels parody that makes me lose faith in my favorite genre is quite another.

The premise of the story for X-2 is that two years have passed since Yuna and her guardians vanquished Sin and Yu Yevon.Since the eternal calm has set in, Yuna has led a relaxed life, (which apparently involved throwing out the dress and staff for hot pants and a pair of guns, not to mention the whole becoming a pop star thing) and it comes to her attention that Rikku, who is now a sphere hunter, has found a sphere that shows a clip of someone who resembles Tidus in some sort of trouble. Thus, Yuna joins the gullwings, which is Rikku's team of sphere hunters, and the quest to find Tidus begins.

First of all, I'd like to point out that there is no real story to this game. There are subtle hints most of the time hiding in the background somewhere that a story might come into being sometime over the course of the game, which is the only reason I kept playing this game, really, but these unfortunately only remain as not much more than subtle hints until the end of chapter three, and by then you're pretty much done with the game.Everything that was epic and compelling about the previous installments of the Final Fantasy's is lost here in a muddle of girl power and uninteresting psuedo-politics that I couldn't have cared less about. The character that I grew to love in Final Fantasy X, Yuna, now has been rendered to be completely devoid of character.Sure, she's cute and happy now, but who cares? There is no conflict, no intrigue in her character. Her only desire seems to be to find Tidus and to help people (neither of which are substantially developed in this game), but rather than being the character who was built on self-sacrifice for the good of others like in the last one, she instead comes off as a self-centered brat who usually doesn't have much to say other than something along the lines of "why do I have to do this?!"Rikku's her dumb self, unsurprisingly, and Paine is just a female version of Auron except not half as cool and not a tenth as interesting. There are a few new characters who you do want to learn about, such as Nooj, Gippal, and Baralai, who are three of the leaders in the new Spira, but their backstory is minimal when compared to character giants such as Terra, Celes, Aeris, or Cloud.Characters like Buddy, or Brother, or whatever his name was wanted to make me cry.I wanted to take the composer who had replaced Mr. Uematsu and beat him out back with a stick, and every time Yuna, Rikku, and Paine would pose and cheer themselves on, I absolutely cringed.By the time the end of the story rolled around, I didn't really care what was happening next.

To be fair, there are a few good points to this game. The battle system has undergone some major revision, and the revision was for the better. The beloved jobs system of Final Fantasy V are back again, and this time they are mixed with the sphere grid of X and an extremely fast-paced upgrade of the active time battle system. The graphics are slightly better than its predecessor, which means that the graphics are phenomenal considering how amazing they were in X.Most of the missions -are- somewhat fun, but the whole game in itself was too sugar-coated, too easy, and too short (I had the game beat in fifteen hours). If I wanted just pure fun, I would've played Grand Theft Auto, and frankly, that game is much more fun than this one.Final Fantasy stands above all the other franchises because it's always been about more than just the fun involved with the battles.I have to admit that this is probably a love it/hate it type of game, but for my part, the closer and closer I got to the end, the more and more apparent it became to me that this game truly was the monumental disappointment that I was fearing it would be the second I first saw Yuna singing a pop song that reeked of Japanese excess in the introduction FMV.I wish I could've felt otherwise, but I didn't.

Forget about Kefka and Kuja -- the main villain of this game is a machine. This game was nothing more than a marketing ploy for Square to cash in on a successful game, and I'm just praying that XII won't turn out the same way. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely pleased
I bought this set for my son who loves to draw and paint. He absolutely loved this set.The colors are wonderful and the different types of pens, paints and crayons make drawing alot more fun for him.The case is sturdy and great so he doesn't lose anything. The price can't be better for everything you get.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful
I bought this set for my niece and nephew and they absolutely love it.The colors are great and the case makes it a cinch to store away. This set provides them with hours of fun.I recommend this to everyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Poor Quality Contents
I bought this for my 5 year old son who loves to draw. The crayons are cheap, compared to Crayola. We tested the 10 different reds searching for the correct "spiderman" red, but they all looked too pink, and pretty much the same color. Also really waxy. The oil crayons are terrible, totally waxy - no oil at all. Markers are OK (so far), but why provide two of each color with the same thin tip? They could have given a broad and thin tip marker in each color instead. The case does seem pretty sturdy, so worst case I'll replace the contents with better quality art supplies. I'm going to look around for something better... if I find it, this is going back to Toys R Us. Any ideas?? ... Read more

Editorial Review

Voted a Best Party Game of the Year by Games magazine, Wise and Otherwise belongs next to Pictionary and Scrabble in your arsenal of fun. This creative, interactive game (read: everybody shouting, flailing, laughing) revolves around 500 cards, each emblazoned with five obscure and long-forgotten sayings from around the world. For example, one old Chinese saying is, "Don't add salt to a boatload of salt fish." One side of the card states, "Don't add salt to..."and it is the job of the players to devise probable endings. "Don't add salt to salty soup," for example. Or, "Don't add salt to the open wound." (The actual endings are listed on the flip sides of the cards.) A player wins points when other players vote for his or her special ending, or when the player guesses the actual ending, so the goal is to finish the proverb as convincingly as possible given the geographic region in question. Each elegant box contains one game board, 500 cards, six writing pads, six pencils, one die, and six player pawns. People who love language, oddly hilarious translations, offbeat proverbs, or just making people look foolish by guessing their very clever answers will adore this game. We predict: The one who plays this game ... will hear the laughter. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best board game I've ever played
This game is a blast. I've never written an online review before, but I felt like I needed to for Wise and Otherwise. I've had my copy for a few years now, and have probably played about forty games on it. (Each game takes at least an hour or two and is most fun with four to six people with roughly similar verbal skills / creative abilities, so it takes a little effort to get a game going.) It's definitely a little "slow" when you start out playing, but once everyone in the game has played once or twice and understands how to play, it becomes incredibly fun. You don't necessarily have to be a "word" person to like it, or even think of yourself as creative, though imagination helps. A little like Balderdash... but with the potential to be way more fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wise and Otherwise Board Game
This game is GREAT!!!Fun for multicultural groups, as well.I played once with a Canadian, a New Zealander, two Australians, an Egyptian and two Dutch women, and me, an American.Makes for VERY interesting responses and tremendous laughter! You can play without the board.Just take paper and pencils (included) and the cards. We took it to the beach on the Red Sea and played in between snorkelling and sunbathing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sounds lame... Really not lame!
My dad had this on his amazon wish list for years before someone finally bought it for him for Christmas. No one would play with him, we all thought it sounded lame. Finally, the next Thanksgiving, we conceded to play this game.We couldn't believe how fun it was.We loved it.

If you're thinking about getting this for someone you know, I would if I were you. Then you can play it... or buy one for yourself.I have it on my wish list now. ... Read more

The Pixter is like a personal digital assistant (PDA) for kids. But instead of storing boring appointments and phone numbers, they get to draw, do puzzles, and learn a little, too. The Pixter is about the size of a small book, and has a pretty solid weight to it. It's made out of brightly colored and durable plastic. The main action of this toy is drawing with an attached stylus. The Color Pixter offers much better graphics then the black and white version, which comes in handy with activities like Paint-by-Numbers and Connect-the-Dots. You can draw a picture free form, or you can use one of the starter backgrounds. There are tool buttons, like on a PDA, that give you access to fun stamps, special effects, and the eraser button. You can also save your creation in the Pixter's memory. There are some boppy tunes playing along with all this creative activity, but luckily for parents, there's also a jack for headphones and a volume adjuster. An expansion slot on top of the Pixter accepts ROM-based expansion cards that contain additional software and games. Requires 4 "AA" batteries. (Not included.) --Megan Sullivan ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars worth it's money
My 9 yr daughter got this for her birthday. She loves it.I love it.The cartridges are easy to remove and install. The unit itself is easy to handle. And the variety of software available makes it a fun, and educational game. The best of both worlds. Now that my daughter has one, my 3 yr old son wants one.I'm afraid his birthday will be a repeat of her's, gift wise, anyway.

1-0 out of 5 stars Get a Leapster instead
I was very disapointed in the Pixter. We returned ours and got a Leapster. The graphics are so much better on the Leapster and the games are much more fun and educational. Also the Leapster is much more intuitive, a child can pick up a Leapster and figure everything out - there is even a "hint" button if the child gets stuck. A child that gets stuck with the Pixter can only look at the grainy screen and wonder where they went wrong. This toy is not worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars fun creative gift

4-0 out of 5 stars Comparison to AC04
Better;

* Excellent graphics, particularly the aircraft models, weather effects and cutscenes.
* The same great gameplay as AC04 with some nice tweaks (e.g. enemy stealth planes are actually harder to detect).
* Lots of missions with a choice of paths through the game (though not as many as AC3), plus refuelings and carrier landings.
* Well written and absorbing plot.
* Numerous and varied aircraft and special weapons, including a fun new super plane and a kill-based 'evolution' system for unlocking improved variants of planes.
* Greatly improved arcade mode, again with a choice of paths, making for a nice half-hour blast.

Worse;

* Ropey mission design. Targets constantly pop up out of nowhere and you get teleported around the map after every cutscene. The action feels more scripted and less like you're flying around a real battle. This is reinforced by the fact that while the target areas are highly detailed, the rest of the maps are quite empty.
* Some of the missions feel like pale shadows of AC04 missions.
* The dialogue is often whiney, unprofessional or just annoying, and often gets out of sync with the action.
* The stats on the aircraft seem to be made up at random, and don't have that much affect on gameplay anyway. The missions aren't designed to make best use of the available weapons, and hence players will never use most of the basic planes and will have little incentive to unlock most of the improved variants. The loss of selectable secondary weapons is a shame.
* Rare but highly annoying bugs; planes fly underground and through buildings, missiles sometimes mysteriously fail to track.
* For the most part the difficulty curve is smooth if a little too easy (even on ace difficulty), but there are a couple of missions that are just unnecessarily frustrating (White Noise and Four Horsemen).
* The two player mode and target shooting range have been removed.

Missed opportunities;

* Fewer targets and no re-arming, making things less frantic. This is a shame as there are some missions where landing and rearm without leaving the battlefield would've worked well.
* The medal gallery is nice, but more unlockables (e.g. rendered beauty shots of aircraft) would have provided more motivation to get those special rankings.
* Giving wingmen orders is fun, but they don't seem to do much or need your protection. Similarly the interactive dialogue could've been cool, but doesn't actually seem to do anything and is hence just distracting.
* No bombers, choppers or VTOL aircraft, to fly or give orders to.
* Music is generally great, but the score for the final missions don't quite have that spine tingling thrill that AC04 had.

Ace Combat 5 is great fun and a high quality title in its own right. However while the graphical tweaks and new features are appreciated, it isn't a major advance over AC04, and the niggling problems prevent it from delivering the same outstanding all-round experience that Shattered Skies provided.

2-0 out of 5 stars Ace Combat 5
Flight action game from Namco that lets players take part in air battles between the two superpowers Osea and Yuktobania. After attempting intercept of an unidentified aircraft, most of the 108th Tactical Fighter Squadron was destroyed. As the base scrambles its defenses and goes on red alert, you and your fellow elite fighter pilots are called up to protect your home nation of Osea. Take flight in the 5th installment of Namco's landmark air combat series, featuring ultra-realistic graphics, over 50 licensed aircraft and the all-new Wingman Command. Issue orders and coordinate group attacks. Your split-second decisions determine mission success or failure. The intriguing story spans over 30 missions and showcases exquisitely detailed environments, real-time weather effects and dynamic lighting. Features multiple game modes and loads of unlockable content for hours of additional flying excitement.

Despite it not being the most revolutionary step forward for the series, is Unsung War any good? Absolutely! Ace Combat 5 is a marvelously done, tight, invigorating experience with few shortcomings but no real problems that destroy the universe.

If you're looking for the best console flight action game in town, you'll not need to look past Ace Combat 5. Fans of the series, owners of Shattered Skies, and newcomers alike will all take great pleasure from this one.

P.S. sorry ment to give this game an overall rating of five stars

5-0 out of 5 stars Ace Combat is still Top Gun among PS2 flight sims
Awesome graphics, awesome models, awesome game!I've been a fan of PC flight simulators, especially the Jane's series for a very long time and never thought a decent flight sim could be made for a console until the Ace Combat series came about.
AC5 is the best of the series to date, in my opinion. When first loading up the game, I was treated to a magnificent opening movie that told a wonderful story of what was turning into a bleak future for the world. The story set the stage for the campaign mode of the game, which has thus far been pure eye candy!
From 5,000 feet, the textures of the ground and water look almost real, and the way the shadows and light play off of the aircraft in 3rd Person flight mode and really beautiful. The only thing that could have been improved on where the explosion effects, which were not realistic looking for my taste.I expected to see fireballs and falling debris, but did not see any of that.Sinking ships during the naval battles would have been nice as well.
Being a Navy veteran, the game reminded me of combat drills where we would recieve briefings about fictional countries we were at war with and hand to protect ourselves against. The briefing and debriefing portions of the game brings back many fond memories for me and are as much joy to watch as it is a joy to play this game.
If you are a military aviation enthusiast and love flight sims, you have to have this game! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Stilt School
After learning how to walk on the stilts, and having seen the eager look on my friends' faces, they encouraged me to begin a stilt school. I taught about 5 of them how to walk on the stilts, and we played fun games. It's really cool to be a foot above the ground! in one part of my basement, my head can skim the ceiling!

5-0 out of 5 stars great fun
For [the money] I didn't think these stilts would be anything great. My daughter begged for stilts for her 9th birthday, and these were the cheapest pair we could find. I was surprised at how durable they are and how easy it is to adjust the foot rests. It was easy for her to learn how to use these, and she had them up as high as possible after a week of using them.

4-0 out of 5 stars So Many Nephews to buy for!
