Editorial Review

Ask any child-development specialist to recommend the single most educational and creative toy for a toddler, and you're most likely to hear just one answer: a set of wooden blocks. BRIO, a trusted name in the world of toys, makes this set of 50 natural beechwood building blocks that have smoothly sanded surfaces and slightly rounded corners and edges for safety. The basic cubes, rectangles, arches, pillars, half-circles, and triangles can be combined in endless combinations to create anything from a doll crib to a castle. The cubes are the smallest blocks (1.25 inches square), and the 6-inch-long arches are the largest. The blocks are designed in incremental proportions--three cubes line up to the same length as one rectangle, and three rectangles stack up to the same height as one pillar. Such design illustrates why a well-engineered set of blocks is so educational: playing with blocks of related-but-different sizes teaches sorting, matching, grouping, balancing, and spatial relations in some subtle and very important ways. This set of blocks is a classic toy that belongs in every home with a young child.--Marcie Bovetz ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars My child loves these blocks
Of everything he got for Christmas, this is the only thing he plays with on a daily basis. He plays with them non-stop most days. The only thing I wish is that the blocks were bigger. They were actually smallr than I thought they would be.He likes them, and they don't make obnoxious noise like a good percentage of his other toys, so I can't complain.

1-0 out of 5 stars I did not keep them
These look like the standard wooden blocks we all grew up with in the online picture, but they are not. These are in fact a miniature version of our old standard blocks - maybe a quarter of the size.Perfect for losing all over the house, and not at all what I had in mind for my little boy.I see now in the online picture that there are no children in the picture with the blocks so that one might be tipped off to the size.If you are looking for little blocks, that's fine, but if you are expecting the old familiar basic chunky wooden blocks, look elsewhere.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not as described!
The largest is not six inches long, it's only three inches. Some blocks were splintered and looked banged up. I returned immediatly, not safe for children of any age. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Slide!
We got this for my son, age 2 and my daugther age 1.Both of their birthdays are in May so we figured they wouldboth love a slide. My son seems to love the one at the park we go to.My daughter is a little hesitant but I'm sure as she grows she will be more willing to slide with her big bro.My son LOVES this slide. He loves to turn the steering wheel and pretend he's driving a car or as he says a "vroom vroom".I don't think in his 2 years of life I'd ever seen him so happy. We keep this slide inside and it is not too big to fit in our playroom.Lots of space left for the other toys.I did however need to put a blanket at the bottom of the slide because my son would just about fly off the end of the slide and land hard on his backside. But the blanket works great and he just loves this toy! I recommend this for both inside and outside use! The price was great too! I mean you definitely get quality. The assembly too me maybe 15 mintues and doesn't have any small screws that may come off and become a choking hazard! I LOVE THAT FEATURE! Excellent product! Kudos to Target!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my 15-mo-old b/g twins
I didn't want to like this product, this pictures really turned me off.But it's the perfect cross between a climber (which would be too big for safety) and a slide (which wouldn't have the ledge at the top where they can position themselves).Plus it's the right size for our living room.

The "rock wall" is fun, but my twins both love climbing up the slide. The trip back down is fast enough to be exciting. My daughter slides all the way to the floor & squeals with delight.

What I particularly like is that they can master this toy. It's so frustrating to be at the park with them & everything's too big or too difficult. This is perfectly scaled to a young, active toddler.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reliefat last!!!
My busy 13 month old son has had serious separation anxiety. None of the many 'stations' in my home seem to keep his attention for more than the moment I am beside him. However I finally broke down and bought yet another chunk of plastic and hello!I made dinner, ate, swept the floor, and am sitting to write this review without the guy clinging and screaming on my leg!Miraculous! My 7 and 4 year old are equally involved in the play. They have guided him as he mastered the rock climbing and the slide climbing.I pray the interest lasts until Spring!Easy assembly too!My husband will be surprised when he gets home from work!Buy it, you deserve a break too! ... Want to give your new baby the sun and the moon? Celeste has athree-dimensional, yellow velour sun face with black embroidery on oneside, and an embroidered satin moon face on the other. Trimmed inbrightly colored, boldly patterned cotton prints, this is one visuallystimulating toy. Dangling from Celeste's round body are four stretchyblack-and-white polka dot ribbons with a different toy suspended ateach end. There's a yellow star teether, a square of purple velour withan embroidered butterfly that rattles when shaken, a green velourcircle with embroidered ladybug that squeaks when pressed, and atriangular plastic link. Celeste is easy to carry, too, thanks to acrinkling fabric handle. --Tami Horiuchi ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Daughter's first favorite
We got this as a gift for Maya before she was born and hung it on the toy bar of her pack & play. She loves it!It was the first thing she swatted at and grabbed. Now that she's sitting on her own, she loves to grab it and put it in her mouth. She seems to love the bright, smiling sun.And the stretchy arms are great to grab.

5-0 out of 5 stars She still loves it!
At 4 months old my daughter "picked" Celeste out of the other Lamaze hanging toys. She immediately smiled and giggled when she saw it.We have always used it in the car primarily and to this day, even though she's 2 years old, if it's not hanging up in the car she asks for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely recomend this
This is such a cute toy. When my son was younger we did not have this one but we had another toy that we hung form his carseat and he loved batting at it or just watching it . It was great for long car rides. I saw this on here and I plan on buying it for my next baby. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Kart - Needs Improvement
My daughter got this at age 1 and is now age 3. Was great when she was 1 but the button push power isn't a grand idea - the button was not easy to push & hold - especially for long periods of time - like over a few seconds...I don't recommend it for the older toddler because it doesn't seem to carry size well - there isn't enough leg room now she's 3 and she needs help getting out only because her feet get stuck. Nice idea and cute - the child loves it even tho it isn't excellent - I think you'd be better buying a full size one for older toddler than to spend $99 on this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun for your 1+ child!
We bought my daughter this "car" for her 1st birthday. She has had it for a little less than a month now, and has mastered driving it (she is a little advanced for her aged). We all enjoy this toy.The assembly was not difficult, but required a little time.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not practical or easy to use by a kid
I got one for my daughter 6 months ago. She is 2-1/2 years old. Initially she was thrilled to get it. But when she found out that it was difficult for her to make it go (the button was hard to push for her, and the steering was tough to co-ordinate), she got frustrated. Also, getting in and out was kind of unnerving, since she would accidently press the button, and the car would start moving. Also, the lack of a reverse gear made it difficult for her to get out of corners. I would recommend getting a more easy-to-use/safe car. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My Daughter LOVES it!
Our 9 month old loves this toy.I first sat down with her to play with it and showed her with one block,"inside, outside."
She picked up on it very quickly. She nows likes to drop the blocks "inside" and take them "outside." (she does this through the top and not the shapes, but I like that she can learn shapes/color recognition with this as well.)

She loves the handle and I can see that when she gets more mobile, she'll want to carry it around with her....and we can eventually use it for cleaning up time too (which I love). The music starts when you either shake it or drop a shaped block in--it isn't too annoying and you can turn it on low or off easily.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful
I bought this toy for my 9 month old about a month ago. I have been very surpried by how much he loves it. Aside from hisactivity house, it is his favorite. He learned very quickly how to take the blocks in and out. He can spend a lot of time just doing that. It's a great toy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great shape sorter!!!!!!!
I looked for a year for a shape sorter that was made well and simple. The others that I found were either cheap looking or to difficult for little fingers to do. This one is great. We already have lots of other peek a boo blocks and love them all. My 19 month old son mastered the shapes very quickly. (It was a Christmas present) He loves the fun sounds and the handle to carry around his blocks, and the colors and shapes are great for learning.
The only thing that I would change is the square. It will only go in one way which can be difficult for children to understand. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best gift
We buy it for our little girl, she is two years old. It fantastic, my husband ensamble it in 30 minutes, my girl reach the pedals and ride it. It is a good investment, we buy it 4 month age and she used it every day in the park and looks like new.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Recommended for" ages are wrong
My 2 1/2 year old daughter received this trike for X-mas.She couldn't reach the pedals. She's improvised by straddling it and using her tip-toes to get around with.

It's wonderfully made. It's well worth the money. My daughter loves it.I just don't see any child, ages 18mo to 3years (the recommended ages) being able to use it the way it is intended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wrong recommended age
We bought this trike for my daughter's 3rd birthday. Three is the perfect age for this. DO NOT buy this for a child younger than 3 years old, the recommended age from the manufacturer is way too young. And, yes, it was kind of a pain to put together. Give yourself some time, don't wait until the last minute to assemble it. It was worth the effort though, my daughter really loves this trike. And your little princess will as well! ... Read more

Editorial Review

When the sun beats down over the long haul, this jaunty, adjustable red polyester umbrellatransforms a little red wagon into a shady Conestoga. And it will serve you well should you be surprised byrain showers on your journey. You could also clamp it on a lawn chair, a cooler handle, a park railing, or abackpack strap. The neoprene-padded jaws of the sturdy plastic, 6.5-inch spring clamp move smoothly on180-degree hinges, so the umbrella gets a flat, slip-proof grip on objects that are from an eighth of an inchto 2 inches thick--even on wet wood or slick metal. Made especially to sit pretty on a classic Radio Flyerwagon, the versatile, heavy-duty clamp also accommodates non-planar surfaces, such as a wide-lippedwall. Unfasten the Velcro closure and slide open a taut 26.5-inch diameter circle of shade made of chunky,top-quality materials. A 4-inch-long, .375-inch-diameter metal-spiraled neck above the clamp allows you toadjust the shade to any angle in any direction. This beauty is made to last as long as a Radio Flyer wagon! The umbrella is 30.75 inches long, and comes with instructions. Ava Natov ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great accessory to wagon
We have this for our radioflyer woodsided wagon and it works very well. It's a bit on the small side, same size a regular childs umbrella, but it works. Also, the small size is about the same width as the wagon, so it's easy to fit thru any doorways, gates, etc...while in the open position that the wagon can.
I rated it 4 stars for fun since my 2 year old loves to play with it (a lot). I think it's great to have and advise anyone with this type of wagon to get it too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wagon Umbrella
It's strong but very, very small. Unless you only have one child in the wagon or ride-on, you'll need to buy two. I did and it was worth it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Concept but Not Durable
The umbrella is a great idea and works well with the radio flyer wagon. The problem is ours broke after limited use.The umbrella did not bend easily in the coil area.We found that when people adjusted the umbrella they always bent it where the button is to put the umbrella up and down.In the end that is where the umbrella snapped in two.So just take your time when trying to bend the umbrella to block the sun! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Legos for little ones!
I initially bought this set for my three-year-old but thought better of it since he was almost 4.So, I bought him a regular set of Legos and was going to take these back. However, after much frustration with the smaller legos, i.e. not being able to get them apart very easily, etc., I brought these out and well, it's been true love ever since.I really recommend these for the younger set - I bought the smaller ones because I didn't think he'd get much good out of these since they indicate that they're only to age 5.Don't pay any attention to the age on these. They can expand and older kids can use these and since they smaller ones say age three, I wouldn't pay attention to that either.Grab the bigger ones for ages 2-6 or so, they will be able to use them and have fun as well.

I awoke to my child screaming because her arm was tangled in the railing and she was unable to release her arm from the railing. The side railings make it a very dangerous bed.

This bed is great! It was quite easy to assemble. My 2year old was very excited to have a "bid girl bed". It is quite sturdy and doesn't take up extra room. The crib mattress fit perfectly also. The side rails are a nice and safe added feature. The bed is also low enough to the ground that my daughter is able to get in and out easily which makes her feel independent. Another thing I like about this bed is that the siderails can detach so if you wanted, you could add longer siderails instead or remove them once your child is no longer rolling around in bed. 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for Hot Climates
Our 17 month old loves these playhouses, but we live in Texas, and most are not well ventilated.I didn't want to spend a few hundred dollars for one she could only use inside, or outside for a handful of months per year.

This playhouse is not only pretty snazzy looking, but also extremely well ventilated -- one completely open door, and a large window, but it also has a closeable door and a window with shutters, so she can still play Open! Shut! Open! Shut! to her heart's content.[See the photos to get a better idea what I mean.]I expect she will be able to use it though most of the summer here.

I bought the whole set of Geo trax for my sons 3rd Birthday, and he hasn't stopped playing with it since. He gets this out every single day and plays with it. Very durable toys. I highly recommend this toy. A must have. My son loves to put the tracks together, and it is easy for him. My 2 year old daughter even loves to play with it. Now they have out the mile high sets, and my husband said we had to get him that too. This is a definate toy to buy......... It Lets the kids use their own imagination time and time again.

4-0 out of 5 stars My Son Loves Most of This Toy
My son, who is 17 months old now, has owned this since he was 10 months, he picked it out at the store. He has played with it at least every other day for the last 7 months. But he doesn't play with the "rings" he plays with the base and the balls. He loves to put the balls in the top and hear the music, then they roll out of the front where he can pull open the door and they roll out. He has never liked the "rings", except to wear them on his feet and arms.

5-0 out of 5 stars Instant hit with my daughter!
I heard about this toy from a parenting magazine review... and to tell you the truth was a bit sceptical about all the raving. But, when I saw it in a store, I was sold. It soft and colorful. The music is not too loud. The balls and rings are a perfect size for little hands to grab.

My 7 month daughter loved it the moment she saw it. There are so many ways she can play with it. And the toy will definitely grow with her. I thought it was so good, I am going to uy another one for my friend's baby.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Impressed
We bought this keyboard for our daughter at Christmas, when she was 6-7 months. She didn't care for it then, even when I was showing her how to use it, and she's a year now and still only hits the top buttons to get it to play by itself.I think it's great that it can play animal sounds or keyboard sounds, but remarkably, one of my biggest complaints is that even on the loud setting it's too quiet! The keyboard sounds are really muted and dull, and I can see why it doesn't hold her interest for more than a few seconds. She's an active kid, and this just isn't for her.I think she's be better off with an old fashioned xylophone to bang on!That will give her results!

5-0 out of 5 stars so far so good....
Now that our tiwns just turned 6 months old we are staring to get more of their bigger toys out. We got thi one out, i think a month and a half ago. We used the music mode a lot then. Now at 6 months old we started to use the animal sounds. And they just love it. They smile and laugh! The music and lights are wonderful and can keep their attention for long periods of time. Most of all our Baby Einstein prodcuts are wonderful and the kids love them! They keys are easy to push and dont stick like some other toys we have. It is a great interactive toy that the kids will be able to use for months.

5-0 out of 5 stars A hit with everyone
I bought this for my toddler who loves music and is delayed in fine motor skills.I feel that the keys are small enough to encourage her to use one finger at a time as opposed to just pounding at it, and the added benefit is that they switch to animal sounds, which she also loves, so it will encourage her more to hit one individual key at a time. She loves the music and flashing lights.I love the fact that the sounds are more muted. It seems so many toys today with sounds blare the noise, this is actually pleasant to listen to and has volume control to boot. The only problem I have is that my 4 yr old keeps stealing it from her little sister to play with it! ... This is probably the first toy that (no pun intended) pops into your mind when you hear the name Fisher-Price. Maybe this will jar your memory: the Push Toy Corn Popper has a long, blue handle (well, "long" if you're 3 years old), and rolls along on two brightly colored red/orange wheels while making great popping sounds as it bounces brightly colored balls inside a clear plastic bubble that's mounted above the wheels. So much for the technical specifications. There must be some unwritten law that every toddler has to have one of these. And with good reason. They're still fun!--Chris Livesay ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Still playing with it!!!
Our son is almost 3 and is still getting this popper out to make some noise. He just loves it at times. Now he uses it as a vacuum even though he has a play vacuum. This toy has been around forever and I believe it will always be around.

5-0 out of 5 stars GOOD BUT NOISY
We got this for our son about 1 1/2 year ago. When I vacuum, he brings this out and pretends to vacuum with me. It is very noisy so if there are parents out there that don't like toys that are too noisy, don't buy it!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A NOISY oldie but a goodie!
We all like to make some noise every now and then don't we?Plus love has it's selective hearing advantages too.I don't know what it is, but kids love these: my daughter, her cousins, parents, etc.(I also like that it stores standing up; just tip it forward a little until the front rests on the floor.) There isn't much to say except that its a simply fun and well liked toy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Learn through Music really teaches!
My mother in law got this unit with Elmo's Scavenger Hunt cartridge for my son when he was 1 1/2.While one of the other reviewers says it's too loud it does have two volumes. My son had mastered this cartridge by his 2nd birthday. So for Christmas we got him Elmo's numbers and Blue's Clues colors....he has excelled with this toy.
He know's how to mix colors now at 2 1/2 and can tell you exactly how to do it.How many kids his age know that green and yellow make Chartruse? And with Elmo numbers he knows how to count in English and Spanish.
It's an excellent toy...annoying at first because there is something new to learn on each "page" and the songs are great for kids but hard on parents.
As for durability..the only problem we have encountered in 1 1/2 years of use is that anything that falls into the cartridge chamber can harm it...in our case cat hair. But it's worth paying the price....it's excellent and it's a learning tool that can be used for so many things.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Toy!...worth the money
I bought this toy over a year ago for my now 2-1/2 year old daughter and she still plays with it.I now have a 19 month old daughter too, and she loves the toy just as much. The youngest bops to the music, and the oldest sings away in the microphone. I have not yet changed the batteries, the "pages" don't stick, the volume is a good volume since it can be adjusted with the "high/low" switch on back. I find the toy to be plenty durable since my youngest seems to stand on it quite a bit and has not damaged the screen or any part of it yet. I also plan to buy more cartridges this weekend for them since I just still have the one it came with. I'm hoping the others are just as fun for my kids as the Sesame Street one. I gave the toy only 4 stars because of the colors on the screen...it would be nice if they were a bit brighter and bolder for the kids.

1-0 out of 5 stars A whole lot of fun..... UNTIL IT STOPS WORKING!
My 18 month old daughter loved this toy soooo much in the store that I just had to buy it for her. I also picked up two extra cartridges for it. I thought the price was a little high, but for such a great toy I felt that it was worth it. Well, we got it home and she loved it! We played with it together (at all times, other times it was put up) and had so much fun with it... until 3 days after buying it when it stopped working. We didn't have any trouble with the microphone, but the pages would stick on every single cartridge. I changed the batteries, thinking that we probably just played with it too much, but that didn't help. I ended up taking it back to our Toys 'R' Us and exchanging everything for another. Okay, second toy worked really well for about 3 wks, then not only did the pages start sticking but the microphone started cutting out as well!! There was NO REASON for this! My daughter never threw it, stepped on it, hit it, etc. I took it back AGAIN (thank goodness for saving boxes and receipts!! The 3rd one worked a bit longer, almost 2 months, and then the same things started happening again. After putting new batteries in the 3rd toy and having the problems continue, I finally had my partner try to fix it himself! We ended up getting so fed up with this toy that we threw it, along with ALL THREE cartridges, in the trash. BIG, BIG, BIG waste of money!! I am extremely disappointed! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Climber but not easy to assemble.
We bought this for our 2 year old little boy and he absolutely loves it.He really likes the tunnel and tall slide. He also likes to pretend with the steering wheel. My husband was more than a little frustrated at times while assembling it but after it was all said and done he was happy to see that our little guy loves it.We also got a free sand box which our son also enjoys.

5-0 out of 5 stars Twin Mama Rejoicing!!!!
I have always liked Little Tykes stuff anyway, and this slide is definitely no exception in quality, durability and enjoyability!!!I have 22 month old twin boys and they love it.They love the slide, the tunnel, the little footholds on either side to climb up and down, and they also love to jump up and down together holding onto the rails on the top!The steering wheel is also fun. They roll all their cars down both slides, even their huge cars (another plus about this slide is that it's wide!!!!) and the long slide is super fast. It's great.Well worth the money. We've only had this thing for a month now, but I think they'll play with this for years.

4-0 out of 5 stars Some Great Outdoor Fun
We have two boys ages 3 and 20 months. They have throughly enjoyed this toy. It took my husband and I only 1 hour to assemble. My older son enjoyes the higher slide while my yonger son enjoyes the lower slide. They also love hiding underneath. It is very durable and well made. I know that our boys will enjoy this for years to come. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars mother of only Fisher Price
I ordered this for my 21 month old daughter, and she loves it, I could not even get it together when she kept saying chair, chair. I don't know what that other lady was saying about it, my daught fits just fine in it and can play with the toys on the table, and she's 30 pds, and 33 inches tall, and has no problem, overall this is a very cute toy and fits in well with the rest of the collection I have.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Waste Of Money
I bought this for my 16 month old son yesterday and will be returning it today. The sizing on the package is 12 months - 36 months and yet the chair and table are too small for my son (granted he is quite large for his age at 34" and 33lbs, but surely he would fall within the size parameters).Once in the chair it is extremely difficult for any toddler (we tried it with our neighbor's child) to turn to the right and play with the table as it is a tight fit.The only way to play with it is for the child to use their left hand, since their right arm is wedged in.The book on the table is too close to the lamp and makes turning the pages difficult to do without pinching tiny fingers. This should have been moved at least an inch to the left.It is difficult to pull the switch on the lamp given the angle the child must be sitting, so hitting the top of the lamp is the only way to get it to work, at which point it stops being useful in teaching a child how to pull the switch.I am extremely disappointed with this given the high expectations I had based on the quality of the other Laugh & Learn products I have purchased. My suggestion to Fisher-Price:label your products by child weight limits, not age limits. ... Read more

You don’t have to be Michael Jordan to excel at basketball thanks to this fun and versatile hoops set from the educational-toy experts at LeapFrog. The adjustable backboard and hoop can be set near the ground for very young children or elevated up to 20 inches as kids grow and seek new challenges. Best of all, the backboard lights up and talks to offer encouragement and help teach numbers, letters, and simple spelling. The tray beneath the hoop can be set to catch the two included balls or roll them back to your pintsize Kobe Bryant. This is a great way for little ones to practice their motor skills, learn numbers and letters, and, most importantly, have fun. --John Moe ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great learning toy, taught my 20 month old his alphabet
My son wasn't interested in this toy at first. He received it for his 1st birthday. But a few months later he loved it.He didn't even use the balls, just pressed the button so it would say the letters and numbers. One day he dragged the basketball hoop into the kitchen and repeated every letter and number that was said. We were amazed. My son is now 20 months old and still loves this toy. But most importantly, he can identify and recite in order all of the letters and knows his numbers from 1-12.I highly recommend this and all Leap Frog products.

3-0 out of 5 stars Learning Hoop Basketball
I was dissapointed with the Learning Hoop Basketball. The music is so boring that my 11-month old baby walked away after 3 minutes throwing the ball in the basket. He once in a while passed by the toy, throw the boy and walked away again as the same music came up after his throw. It would be more interested if music has changed after a throw.
Besides, the CAT button doesn't do much good for the kid.Only 4 words are being spelled.

I still want to give a good compliment in the physical quality of the toy.It looks good, sturdy with a cute frog and very strong. I am not worried about my baby will break it if he was a little rough to the toy.

This toy could be better off with more variety of music instead of just one tone all the time. For a while, I feel like it is torturing me with that same music.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice learning toy.
My son received this toy at 7 months old and really liked it. He will still play with it from time to time and he is now 20 months old. He really perfected saying bye bye with this toy, because it tells the child bye at the end of playing. This toy is not ment to be used as a pull up toy, for those who thought it was unsturdy, they should try a learning table or something. ... Read more
