You can really bug out with this 487-piece LEGO set especially aimed at the creative entomologist. The set could be used to make anything from dinosaurs to deep space stations, but the thick (83-page) manual is aimed squarely at the Legologist who wants to design crawling critters. Spiders, scorpions, snails, and worms--if it buzzes or slithers you can make it. Frogs, lizards, a crab, and a bird round out the suggested menagerie, and of course there’s no rule against inventing new species of imaginary arthropods. Hop on over to this set and get bitten by the LEGO bug! --Richard Farr ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bugs & Other Wild Creatures Fun
I recently purchased this for my four year old son and we have a great time building the creatures in the booklet. So far, we've built the spider, lizard, and crab.He loves it!The many intricate details do challenge him but we work together and have great fun.I did purchase a container to store and separate the colors and various bricks so we can find the pieces efficiently.I am amazed by all the various pieces and how much lego bricks have evolved over the years. This set definitely provides hours of fun and creativity. We would purchase other Make & Create sets in the near future.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money
When my son was four he was such a fan for bugs and animals that I decided to buy the Lego Wild Collection for his fifth birthday.I knew he would be a year younger than the recommended age of 6+, but I figured I could help him. When he received the toy he was thrilled and immediately engaged me to build the Crab.It was very hard because there were about 500 pieces, most of them very small pieces, but after an hour of "needle-in-the-hay-stack" hunt I succeeded in locating all the necessary bits.My boy was able to put most of the pieces in by consulting the book's step by step instructions, but about 10% of the time he couldn't understand it and I would have to show him how.Although he isn't a patient boy he was engrossed with the project and never lost focus, and in the end he was proud of the Crab and admired it for hours.

After I complained to my husband, a plumber, about the difficulty in locating the tiny pieces, he suggested that I go to the hardware store and buy a utility box that contained different compartments for the various parts.I found one such box with a lid and 12 compartments and sorted all the chunks out by size and color.Everything was a breeze to find after that - I wonder why Lego doesn't provide such a box.

Since then my son and I have dedicated about 12 hours building various creatures such as snakes, snails, spiders, scorpions, birds, fish, jelly fish, mosquitoes, daddy-long-legs, and we are not even half way done with all the possible 63 creatures yet.It was fun even for me because back when I was a kid Legos weren't half this fancy. The Lego website shows many extra pictures of various things one can build with the Wild Collection. We did have one missing piece - the Ant's belly - but Lego is sending it for free after I ordered it from their website. Today my son succeeded in building the Ant by substituting the missing piece with a different piece. He worked on it for 4 hours, mostly by himself because I couldn't find the time to do it with him, and he succeeded, to my total amazement, since the Ant is one of the hard ones to build.(There are 3 levels: easy, medium and hard.)It is amazing to see how fast he is learning to put the pieces together.

I would like to yell "Bravo!" to the Lego designers for coming up with such a wonderful toy.It isn't cheap, but in comparison to the amount of time a child spends with the toy, I think it is more than worth it.One can, of course, get a small, cheap Lego thing that can build only one thing, but after the child builds the same thing a couple of times he gets sick of it.This way, because there are so many pieces, there is a huge variety of things one can build, so you pay four times the money but you build a hundred times more critters too because you can reuse the parts.I just think it makes much more sense this way, and I highly recommend this toy to anyone.

Tip:There is a grey piece shaped like a handle. It is for taking the built legos apart. It doesn't say that in the instruction booklet, but that's what I figured it must be after I spent a few days prying stuff with the butter knife!

The part of the review is added 2 months later:
My son is done with the wild life lego set.I would say that he's spent more than 200 hours on it.On some days he worked on it day and night, and he can build every single critter in their without any help from me.Familiarity definitely breeds understanding in this case. Now he is moving on to the other Lego designer sets.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beastly Fun Building!
My seven year old loves LEGO's, and is thinking of them in a whole new direction with this kit. Before he would only make cars, buildings and etc. (I'm not complaining!).He loved building the creatures in the book, and has started using them to invent his own animals. The creatures in the book are at different difficulty levels, but you can build even the biggest ones and still have enough left over to build more.My son has at least three of the biggest put together now, at the same time. ... Fully equipped for looting and plundering across the high seas, this pirate ship sports a massive wooden hull powered forward by six sails, three adorned with skulls and crossbones. Triple-firing cannons lay above and below deck, while a sword-wielding captain commands two crew members. A parrot can rest atop the captain's shoulder. There's also a working wench for hauling up all that misbegotten treasure and a removable dinghy for one-off raids. Other elements include a deployable anchor, a walking plank, and a yellow guard rail that circles the deck. The boat measures over 2 feet long once assembled, and can be put together in several ways, outlined in the accompanying booklet. --Andy Boynton ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars FUN - BUT ONLY IF YOU DON'T ACTUALLY PLAY WITH IT!
I BOUGHT THIS TOY FOR MY 5 YEAR OLD, TOOK A BIT TO PUT IT TOGETHER, AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU WILL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME DOING...PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER. SO, IF YOUR KIDS DON'T ACTUALLY WANT TO PLAY WITH IT, JUST PUT IT TOGETHER, OVER AND OVER AGAIN, IT'S GREAT. BUT IF THEY ACTUALLY WANT TO HAVE THE "PIRATE ADVENTURE" , IT COMES UP A BIT SHORT.
    SAME GOES FOR THE ISLAND.

4-0 out of 5 stars great for imagination
My son got this for xmas and absolutely loves it, we are now moving onto the knights and castle.He(4) and his sister(3) spend hours having pirate wars and finding treasure. GREAT toy, LOTS of little pieces,so just be careful of younger siblings.Would definately recommend to anyone whose interested in pirates.

5-0 out of 5 stars My 9 year old son LOVES these toys!!!
I ran into Toys R Us on Christmas Eve last year to find another toy for my son (I wanted him to have a certain amount) and saw these on an end display. I bought a box, wrapped it, and put it under the tree.
He absolutely LOVED playing with these. So did his siblings. They spent hours and hours for weeks making all kinds of cool concoctions. We have since added several more sets to our family.
I came here today to buy a set for a birthday this weekend for a 13 year old family friend who still enjoys building things.
    Great toy!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Investment!Activities for many levels and interests!
I'm a mom that has to buy one toy that will serve multiple purposes. So you can imagine my joy when I came across the Music n' Play table! On the top side, it's split between a piano and activity center, then flip it over and underneath is a miniature "lego" building table.Plus, it has storage for the lego pieces!I was looking for an activity table for my 8-month old son because he likes to stand and pull himself up on things. We've had absolutely no problems with its stability. Actually, he uses it like a walker, pushing it all around the kitchen. And it easily entertains more than one child at a time.I was hoping it was available at stores in my area, but even with shipping and handling, it was well worth the price.I highly reccomend this toy, I know Colin will enjoy his Music n' Play Table for a long time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but what's with the music?
Our 13-month old enjoys this table a lot. However it sounds like all the preprogrammed music was done in Shanghai.Vaguely American pieces are played with distinctly Chinese instruments and arrangements, basically comprising a sad-sounding fiddle, xylophones, and drums. It's some of the strangest music I've ever heard from any kids' toy (and unfortunately it's somewhat scratchy due to poor sampling or tone generation). Also be aware this item takes two sets of batteries: one for the activity area and the other for the music area.Pros: easy assembly, lots of items for the toddler to play with, and unlike many of their other toys it's one they can play with standing up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome
I'm 11 years old. I went to my cousins house and played with this toy. I couldn't stop playing. It was so much fun. When my cousins got a real keyboard they told me to play with that. I told them I didn't want to. Then they threw it away when their son stoped playing with it. I threw a tantrum ... Read more

Lego has done it again; giving us another awesome addition to their Star Wars collection, this time with this two-piece Revenge of the Sith set. You construct both the Jedi Starfighter that Anakin Skywalker (figure included) pilots in combat, as well as the Vulture Droid of the Separatist arsenal. Both of these models stand alone as finely detailed Lego units equipped with some of the best decals you’ll find. The instructions take you step by step through the simple assembly of both vehicles so there is no difficulty in achieving results. Have fun outfitting the models following the step-by-step directions or go off on your own to create unique Star Wars ships. This is a Lego product so you’ll want to be aware of the numerous small pieces that aren’t suited for young children (recommended 7+ years of age). There’s fun to be had with this toy for Star Wars collectors or Lego fans alike! --Chip Quinn ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great and Durable
This lego was great and was the second episode 3 lego I got.I think that lego could have made this item a little bit better but overall, it was pretty cool. If lego had only put a little more on it, it would be the perfect lego. Still, it is a great lego and is defenitally worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent motivator and great fun
As a child I used to play with K'nex a lot. I just dug up an old model I built to hold my poker chips today that I'd made years ago, and I decided to look around for the biggest set I could find.

As a college student now, I can see the value of playing with the K'nex set as a kid: creativity, problem-solving, even common sense about the laws of physics (big stuff that falls down tends to go boom, for example), all have been boosted thanks to this toy, I think. It's no wonder I'm able to learn new techniques and ideas so quickly now (as opposed to some of my friends).

All you have to do is show your child how to connect the pieces in different ways, plop a models book in front of them, and let them have at it with your encouragement. Just don't let them put anything in their mouth: some of the pieces are less than an inch long.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a GREAT simple toy
I bought a 22 piece set of these for my 5 1/2 yr old daughter. She played with those 22 pieces for over an hour just ditting there.

I can't say enough...they are easy to clean up since they are magnetic. The only things I'd say as a caution are that the metal balls hurt if they stray away and you step on them so keep it contained.

5-0 out of 5 stars My sons favorite toy!
I have a 6 year son that was bored with legos and licoln logs, but loved to try and build things. So, we got him this set for Christmas. He loves it! You are not limited to what shapes you can make with the other building sets. he will go to his room and build things himself from looking at the directions. Since christmas we have bought him a few of the smaller sets to go along with this set. My husband and I like to play with it to. I would recommend knex to everyone! They are worth evey penny! ... Let's face it: Lego is the standard by which so many toys these days are measured--and fall short. In a world where creativity seems to be going out the window, replaced by step-by-step instructions for proper construction of toys with pre-determined stories, Legos are basically stackable blank slates. This particular bucket o' blocks features 1,000 small elementary pieces. A pamphlet with 13 instructions (and 28 ideas) is included, inspiring young builders to create anything from clowns to dinosaurs, but most children will probably do their own thing anyway…flying tractors, anyone? Parents and kids will love the big, sturdy blue storage tub with space enough to hold far more than 1,000 Legos. A true classic. --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

This bin contains 1000 Legos(Legos are VERY fun and safe!!).If your child likes building Bionicles, Star Wars, Clickits etc. then they will like this!Legos are also very educational. They teach kids to use their imaginations. But, if your child is under the age of about 4, dont worry! There are also bins containing Duplos, and Quatros, wich are made for youner children(they are like Legos only bigger).Legos make a great gift.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value
I'm not sure if we just timed our purchase right or what, but the price we paid for this Lego bucket was great. After we ordered it on here and were shopping in stores for other items, we realized we had gotten a deal!LEGOS are always a great toy, who could go wrong, especially at such a reasonable price!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value but You'll Want More
I bought this for our four year old, and he really enjoys playing with them.I like this generic collection of mult-purpose bricks better than the sets that are designed to build one unique item. For the price, you really get a lot of stuff. On the down side, there are a lot of the smaller bricks (1 x 2 and 1 x 1), but it is still a good value. After playing with this for a few days I found that my son wanted more plates, bricks (2 x 4 and 2 X 8), and wheels (my son loves to make cars).I went to lego dot com where I was able to buy more of these specific things.

In summary, buy this set first from Amazon and then go to lego dot com to buy additional wheels, bricks and plates. ... Read more

Little ones with a knack for building and creative play will be drawn tothese lightweight and durable cardboard building blocks. A staple item in many preschools, this set can spark endless imaginative play as children buildlarge, life-size structures. Builders practice mathematical skills as they addthe number of blocks stacked on top of each other, and the various-sized blockscan facilitate a conceptual understanding of fractions. When kids aredevelopmentally ready, parents can encourage them to discover that one large redblock is the same size as two medium yellow blocks or four small blue blocks.Made from 50 percent recycled cardboard, the blocks have a smooth, water-resistant coating that's easy to clean. These blocks won a Parents' ChoiceClassic Award and a Dr. Toy Classic Award. One word of caution: Make surethere's enough storage space to hold all 40 blocks once assembled. --LaurenBernard, mother and elementary school teacher ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Large blocks are best
These are great, durable, fun cardboard blocks for your kids to build structures they can play in (for example, mine like to build walls under tables to make a fort or "rabbit hole" while they pretend they are rabbits, or they build towers around each other which they then love to crash down on their heads.)I like them because they are a nice physical toy that encourages the imagination. They are strong enough for kids to stand on (although I don't encourage it because they will weaken over time) and light enough that they aren't hurt if the blocks fall on them. And kids learn some spatial, balance, and construction concepts as well. Warning: assembly required, and you should take care when assembling to make sure you get them right (don't bend the cardboard in the wrong place or you will weaken them). Also, the best blocks are the larger red ones. The yellow ones are much harder to build with (no stability for height) and the blue (brick-sized) ones are nearly useless.I'm buying more of the red only, and I expect I will actually throw out the blue and yellow ones since they take up storage room but are pretty much useless. These blocks are expensive if you are going to buy enough of them. I recommend that your kids will need at least 30 red ones to really build things that they can play in (even building in an open-space brick-saving fashion)... and that gets costly. They can be stacked awayin a 2x3x4 area... it's helpful to cordon off a section of your room or have a big storage box that helps your kids figure out how to put them away.5 stars for fun and child development, but I only gave 4 stars due to the expense and useless smaller blocks included.

My son just turned 6 and has been slowly warming up to the joys of LEGOs.I bought him this set because he needs step-by-step directions to build things...he finds it hard to create things on his own.The directions were mostly easy for him to follow once I taught him to look for the visual "clues" in each step.He loved the different dinosaur models. We haven't had any problems with them standing...they look fantastic!I'm just so happy that he's FINALLY enjoying LEGOs!I was starting to wonder what was "wrong" with him!!!I learned he needs instructions with steps, and this was perfect for him.

Now my 4 year old daughter can create things on her own, and with this set she looked at the pictures and then designed her own models. So it works for either type of kid.Great set.I plan on getting the other sets similar to this one.To the fine folks at LEGO, I thank you! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Toy was a hit
I had bought this toy for my son's 8th birthday and it was a hit.I have three children and they all loved it.It's been three weeks now and they still play with it daily, it was a definate hit.My only disappoints were:They are plastic now, instead of wood.I recall as a kid, breaking the wood ones now and then. But the plastic is just as breakable, yet without the typical peircing points a broken wood one would have.I bought the large 200 piece tin of them, when I opened it up 2/3rds of the tin was nothing but air (they did take the time to add in cardboard so you wouldn't know.)I was disappointed such a large tin was so empty - but nontheless, the toy was a super hit.I wish I had bought them earlier.

My son got these this weekend, for his 4th birthday. All of my kids and nieces and nephews LOVE them. They range in age from 2 - 12.This toy has provided endless hours of entertainment just in the last 48 hours. This toy even got them away from the GameCube. There are no little pieces for the little ones to choke on, PERFECT for every age!

2-0 out of 5 stars broken pieces
I purchased a tinkertoy set for my grandaughter for Christmas. After only a half hour of play we had 3 broken pieces. By the next day we had six. This was not rough or unsupervised play. I contacted Hasbro and they will replace the 6 pieces. What a disappointment. They must not be using the same wood to make the most recent sets. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The better X-Wing; the best re-release
As far as overall appeal, piece count, size enhancement, and added bonuses, the 4502 X-Wing Fighter is, by far, the greatest re-release in the Star Wars Lego line. (The only other comparable re-issue might be the Falcon.) With this set you go from 263 pieces in the 7140/7142 X-Wing to 563! That's a 300-piece increase, which, by anyone's standards is worth the increase in price (I hope). And while a number of those added parts are used in Yoda's hut, the disparity between the two X-Wings is anywhere from vast to incredibly immense. The only negative difference here is the color scheme; in 'The Empire Strikes Back', the X-Wing is obviously gray, not white. But that's a minor hitch in such a beautiful set.

This set comes with three minifigs: Yoda, R2-D2 and Luke, who sports Dagobah apparel (torn green shirt, backpack) rather than the typical orange, X-Wing Fighter outfit. So you don't get Biggs Darklighter or the rebel mechanic, but that's because this is in fact a Dagobah-themed set. Along with Yoda comes his infamous hut. It can unfold from its cozy, stoplight-shape so that you can see everything inside, which includes a stovetop & saucepan and a (small) eating area. Yoda does not come with a lightsabre, but instead a walking stick. Now on to the X-Wing....

One of the first things you will notice about this set is that the way the wings extend is a great deal more complicated. In the original X-Wing, all you had to do was "click" them up or down one notch. Here, an onslaught of technic pieces come together to allow you simply to turn a knob and, thus watch the four wings move into place all at once. Most impressive. Also, the wing size is much larger, making it a wider load. The snout here is also enlarged, by about an inch, which makes it look all the more prominent. A couple more things: the area that holds R2 is, fittingly, more enclosed and the Dagobah swamp theme is carried out even on the X-Wing itself, with a couple of seaweed leaves. These are all small-but-important added bonuses.

Putting this set together took well over an hour, although it never became tedious or tiresome at any point. And I couldn't be happier with the outcome. The only thing that keeps this X-Wing from being "perfect" is its durability (or lack thereof). Here and there a piece may come flying off at you, whether it's the antennas attached to the wings or the seaweed leaves. The wings are pretty stable as long as you NEVER use your hands to move them up and down. That creates a huge re-assemblage mess I hope no one ever experiences. I guess I am inclined to say that this set works best as a displayer, as I don't recommend zooming it from Dagobah to Cloud City and back too often, if you know what I mean. All in all, I couldn't recommend a Star Wars Lego set more than this one. The price is right when you consider you're getting a much better, much bigger X-Wing and Yoda's hut--something that would have been sadly missed had it not appeared somewhere. Get this set before it zooms past you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool Set
This is one of the most confusing ships to build for me. I love the structure but it will break easily. I like Yoda's hut. It comes with two good minifigs and two light sabres.

3-0 out of 5 stars don't waste your money
Overall this toy isn't worth $50. x-wing is cool, but certain parts fall off very easily. the lego yoda's hut is larger than scale compared to the movie one. In the movie luke has to crawl to get it, it's easy for him to fit in the lego one (which is kinda good, but kinda bad.) I'd say this is worth $20-$30, but no more. Many cooler legos for the same price ... Read more

    Editorial Review

The Castle of Morcia was a nice enough place when it was presided over by a kind and benevolent king but it just hasnt been the same since Vladek, the evil scorpion emblazoned villain of LEGOs medieval storyline, took over the place. Now its up to the assortment of good knights to recapture the castle. This set of building bricks from LEGO features numerous tunnels, secret passages, and traps. Also included are small figures of the King of Morcia and all five knights. Of course since this is a LEGO set, the pieces are infinitely interchangeable, so long after youve followed the prescribed illustrated step-by-step plan to construct the castle, youre free to imagine and build an infinite variety of new configurations. --Charlie Williams ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Minifigures in Shining Armor, Rejoice!
To all those Lego Castle-series afficianados out there - who aren't six years old :) - Lego has been savvy enough to bring back the old yellow minifigures-in-shining armor. The Castle Morcia is the creme-de-la-creme of all the available sets. Not only do you get a mildly ingenious, modular castle that can switch alliegences on the fly, but you get seven unique minifigures to populate it (not to mention scorpions, a frog, a day-glo spider and a skeleton!). From the ostensibly good King Mathias and his multi-colored Round Table (each of his four knights not only has a name, but a unique face and personalized sword, shield and facemask!) to the evil Morgoth - Melkor - Vladek, yes, that's it, each minifigure is armed to the teeth and looks the part, enough to intimidate any other medieval Lego minifigures you might have laying around. The set even includes a freaky-looking robotic scorpion/catapult! How can you resist the allure? You cannot, lego-maniac.
If you're a kid at heart, and there's an $80 void in your life that could be filled by little plastic knights in shiny armor and their awesome castle, the Castle Morcia will do it in spades. Or, if you actually have a kid and want to see him doing something non-video game related, the ever-useful trait of building can be fostered with this set. Whatever your age group, enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Lego toy and Great Theme!
I bought this for my 6 year old son.He has been able to put this together on his own and he enjoys it.It's the only toy he will abandon his game cube for to sit and play with. The theme is fun for this age since it focuses on knights, sword-fighting, etc.And since there's additional components and kingdom sets we can puchase, he will become more imaginative.
I'm very pleased with this lego set and would highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Winner for GeoTrax
I knew my son would love this as soon as I saw it as he love bridges and things he can make move.

The set comes with a drawbridge, a sailboat and some cargo. The bridge has typical GeoTrax detail with crabs, shells and other things along the edges and the water under the bridge contains a sea turtle.

Bridge action is controlled with an easy-to-grasp handle that small hands can wrap right around. As the bridge is raised, a bell rings and the gates drop. When the bridge is lowered, the gates automatically go back up.The bell can also be rung by pushing down on the chimney of the gate house.

All in all this is a fun addition to a GeoTrax setup, it is easy to set up and use, and it is very durable, not to mention very reasonably priced.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bayshore Drawbridge
The Bayshore Drawbridge is another great addition to your kids GeoTrax collection. It can be used in place of three adjacent straight pieces of track. It is made from high impact plastic and is very durable.

No batteries are needed for this kit.A lever actuates the raising and lowering of the bridge.Additionally, as the bridge is raised, a little bell rings and two little crossing gates are lowered to block any oncoming trains.

The only difficulty was assembling the lever to the drawbridge. You have to line up the lever with the keying mechanism and push HARD for the lever to snap on correctly.

If you're buying the drawbridge, then by this point, you have probably purchased many of the other additional kits.It gets to be quite a challenge to include everything into a good layout.

For some great track layout ideas, search on eBay for "Geotrax Track Layout".

All things considered...this is a great toy that will keep your kids (and you) occupied for many, many hours. My kids love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Really neat...even fun for mom
I bought this set for my son when he turned 4.He didn't attempt to play with it by himself until one day I got it out, sat on the floor with him and started building really neat stuff. When he saw what I had done and watched all the colors of gears turning round and round that was it, he loved it.This set has so many options; you can build 1,000 different things. We will have this set for a long time.

3-0 out of 5 stars Start with the Under Sea Adventure set, this as add on!
We received several gears, gears, gears sets at the same time, and found that the plain set ie Super set although initially fun looses excitement without some add ons.If I were to buy just one set I would start with the Under the Sea adventure set first, then add with the fantasy play park. The Undersea set has parts that move the gears in interesting ways from the standard set.It also comes with regular gears for building, although in limited number so the super set still helps extend the play. The motorized monstors sounded more intteresting than it was, but the parts when added to the Undersea adventure set was great fun!The gears are an interesting way of learning how things work. If your child is mechanically minded any of these sets will provide a wonderful new constructin opportunity. If your child hasn't been inclined towards let's say lego's etc.. This toy may provide some interest initially in being able to create a design that moves. However, construction with this set is more complicated than legos and for the less mechanically inclined child will still need paren'ts help beyond the age minimum's recommended. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Tie'd for the best of the re-releases
Being that I didn't get into the Star Wars Lego line until early 2003, I missed out on a huge number of sets. Now, I am not a big fan of re-releases--mainly because I was able to get about 85% of all the Star Wars sets I wanted thanks to [...] anyway, and also because the originals then become sort of obsolete. But the #7146 TIE Fighter was one I failed to obtain (at first; I have it now), and I was glad to see Lego changed almost nothing from the original. And what they did change was for the better (although they did get rid of the Stormtrooper).

The sleek look of the TIE Fighter is exactly the same as before, the colors are all identical, and they enhanced the Vader minifig by giving him an illustrious light-up lightsabre. I believe this was the first set to include that detail. And while they replaced my favorite minifig, the Stormtrooper, with a TIE Pilot, they also did away with that ridiculously unsteady stand thing (the main reason there's 10 fewer pieces on this set). Had they included that again, the durability would've been about a two, at best. The TIE stands better on its own anyway, although it is still a bit unstable. Oh well. Putting this set together took no longer than a half-hour, which is pretty average for a piece count of 159. It was a very easy set to assemble, with most of the building time going into the two (identical) wings.

The TIE Fighter is one of the most recognizable ships in the Star Wars universe, since it appeared in episodes IV-VI and is set to appear yet again in Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith. Although I don't consider this set to be part of the Episode III line, it was released at about the same time and compliments a Lego collection very nicely either way. If you already own the original TIE Fighter from back in 2000, ask yourself whether or not a light-up lightsabre is worth the price of an almost-identical set. Otherwise, pick this up before you miss out on it. Again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Toy
This TIE Fighter is the best toy I've ever had. At first some of it kept falling apart. But then I tightened it the best I could. So now, I can play with it as tight as can be.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Set
I really like the Tie Fighter in this set. I don't really like the Darth Vader light-up light saber. It's one of the strongest sets I've ever built. This set has a great form and also can be a link to Death Star II or the Imperial Star Destroyer. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Choo Choo
I bought this toy for my daughter when she was six months old and it's a great value. For the money I couldn't ask for anything better. She loves the train still three months later. It is very durable and has been dropped several times and keeps on choo chooing, it still has the original batteries in it from when we bought the toy.She always gets excited when the train starts rolling and screams with delight then tries to crawl after it and get it.She loves to watch the blocks go up and down and round and round. It is one of her favirote toys and she is almost nine months old.She likes to take the blocks off and pound them together to make noise. She also loves the little blue boxcar at the end she picks it up and plays with the red flap. And tries to turn the wheels with her hand.It is just a great toy and I highly recommend it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the original
I bought these for my daughter when she was 3.Now 5, she and her 2 year old brother play with them. They are no where near as good as my bristle blocks from childhood (still at Grandma's).These just don't stay together well at all.The people that swivel and the wheels looked like they'd add great dimension and improve a classic toy, but with the reduction in block quality (ie, they don't stick together!), I have to say these are a so-so toy, at best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another interesting way to build things
My kids really like their bristle blocks.I like the bright colors and the different sizes. My 3 year old just likes to put the pieces together--it doesn't matter if it is anything or not.It is just interesting to him that they stick to each other at this point.I built a car for him--from that point on, he has been able to visualize different things--cars, buildings, yards, etc. and put them together.I think that these, blocks, gears, legos, lincoln logs, etc. are all very important to a child's development. These are lots of fun for a reasonable price.
