5-0 out of 5 stars Playmobil is Great!
We bought our youngest son the pirate ship seven years ago when he was four. He is now eleven, and is asking for this new updated ship. He has played with the old one for years, outside in the pool, inside, along with the big king castle, and countless other sets that we have. Yes, Playmobil. is delicate, and young children can be taught how to play with it, there are alot of small pieces, but like Lego, it will and does encourage a child's imagination, rather than stifle it.We have Castles, western forts, city sets, boats, all of it! It does take time to put together, but some of the best memories are of me and my boys putting together some of these intricate playmobil sets the day after Christmas! When you buy toys for your kids, don't look at a toy and say "what does it do", rather look at a toy and ask "what can my child do with this toy"? Playmobil has been one of the toys that my three boys have stayed with along with legos well past Christmas, much more, than anything else. I am keeping all of our collections for our grandchildren.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too many little pieces
Bought for three- and five-year old boys. Too many pieces and extra accesories to to keep track of.They were all over the house. It took hours to put the pirate ship together and once it came apart, it couldn't be put back together again.I do not recommend this item.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most popular toy in our home!
I purchased this pirate ship for my son's fourth birthday. This is by far the most popular toy in our house! My 8 year old son and 6 year old daughter also love this toy. There are so many items that come with the ship - from canon balls, swords, treasure chest full of goodies, food, animals and even jewelery for the pirates - they are never bored. My four year old plays on his own, or with his friends, and when all three are home they all play together. Definitely worth the investment for the amount of joy this toy has brought to our home!! ... Read more

Editorial Review

For many toddlers and preschool-age children a highlight of the week canbe watching the garbage truck stop in front of the house and lift the bins highinto the air in all their noisy power and glory. This big, brightgreen-and-yellow garbage truck from Bruder Toys will provide hours of creativeand imaginative play. The six-wheeled plastic truck measures approximately 2feet long, 6 inches wide, and 10 inches tall. The truck comes with two small, realistic bins in yellow and blue. The two bins hook on to the tailgate, whichlifts with a lever. Other turning knobs dump the trash and compact it. This toycould be used as a recycling truck given the recycling symbol on the side, whichmakes it a great educational toy to introduce environmental consciousness. Extrabins and a larger Dumpster may be purchased separately. --Lair Showalter, mother and elementary school teacher ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Very dissapionted
My three year old loved this truck. But after only two weeks the entire back end broke off.Cheap plastic hinges!I would not recommend this truck if your child wants to play with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars cool garbage truck
this garbage truck rocks! it actually dumps garbage into the loading section. it crushes the garbage with the compactor. the cab tilts, the loading section tilts, and is realistic, but not very durable. a couple of weeks after i bought it the side dial for the compactor broke off because it needed some work twisting it. but is still a cool diecast garbage truck.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too fragile - buyer beware
We looked for a trash truck that our 4 year old boy could play with. On the surface, the Bruder looked the part. Not as cartoon-looking as some, the fact that it looked like a real trash truck but had few obvious breakable parts made it seem like an ideal choice.

Actual play testing though shows this product isn't very well-built, at least not enough to withstand normal wear and tear. This truck wasn't subjected to being thrown down the stairs, jumped on, etc. It's been just played with, but it started coming apart quickly.

The hinged door in the back of the truck is a poor design. The plastic hinges on the truck are too thin, and break easily. The plastic hinges on the door start to bend after multiple open/closes, and the plastic weakens and breaks off.

The hinged front compartment and rear sections are difficult to operate, and stick easily. Items put into the cab (like the essential green army man who drives the truck) easily get caught in here and are very difficult to remove.

Worse though is the key point of this toy, the ability to latch the trash can to the lifting/dumping mechanism. This is way to complex for a child, and the intricacy in getting a solid connect is difficult even for an adult. If it's not hooked up right, the can falls off when you try to lift it; very frustrating.

Some little pieces (rear view mirror, etc) broke off easily and early on, but we kind of expected this. The parts were simply too small and fragile to last long. I don't hold this part against the design; part of the attraction was that it looked like a real truck, and I don't think there's an easy way to add small details without some fragility.

While this is orignally was one of my sons favorite toys, he can't really play with it the way he'd like to. While he still enjoys driving it around the house, he can't pick up the trash and dump it without an adults help, and that's a shame.

For the price, I expected so much more. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Wobbly Wheels Fall Off
Bottom line: the bad design makes the wobbly wheels fall off.The toll-free help number in the box - I am not making this up - rings to an adult chat site ad. Marx Toys name is all over the box and the instructions, but a little research shows they went down in a stock swindle. It is really made in Monterrey, Mexico. If I bring it back to the local ToysRUs store I am out the Andrew Jackson I spent on shipping etc. So since I am a very handy fix-any toy kind of Dad I just keep buying cap-nuts at TruValu Hardware for two bits and hammering them on. Doesn't really matter cause the basement floor is chewing up the hollow plastic wheels pretty fast. Too bad cause it is wicked fun when it works! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This toy is tops!
My son recieved it for his 2nd birthday and a year later still loves it. We keep it as an outside toy where he can dig and load dirt with it. Its nice and chunky for little hands and has a handle you push to make the loading part lift up. I imagine this toy will last forever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loads of Fun
My two boys(5 and 6) have both the loader and dump truck and they have put about 1,000 miles on tires and they keep going. They enjoy playing in the dirt with these toys..They are kept outside and have lasted along time(3 yrs)..Even when left out in the rain, they have kept together with no problems.

Enjoy the pastoral life of a pleasant agricultural community in this charming train set from Imaginarium. It features 51 pieces in all, including special mechanisms for moving hay bales and loading and unloading cargo. Small farm pieces, including a friendly farmer, a cow, and a pig round out the look. There’s nothing electronic to contend with here, no flashing lights or pre-recorded electronic sounds, just the simple pleasure of guiding a train around the track getting some farm work done. The pieces are compatible with other Imaginarium train sets, including Thomas the Tank Engine sets, as well as BRIO Wooden Railway systems. --Charlie Williams ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but not durable
We used the trike for about 2 weeks before the handle broke. Our son is at the age right now that the handle is very important. We are looking to see how we can order just a handle.Once he gets a little older, I'm sure he will love peddling it!:) The bike itself is very sturdy...just bad handle!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Bike, but Won't last long
I got this bike in September for my 2 year old. We've had a great 6 weeks with it, but recently the handle started moving to one side and then yesterday it broke completely off leaving only a tricycle with no handle to push.

The weld holding the handle on to the bike was poorly done and it broke off after only 6 weeks of use. I was still able to return it to TRU , but the new one has a leaning handle so I expect to return this one in a month for a different product...IT was a GREAT Bike...While it lasted:( ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed
I purchased this for my 20 month old son, and he is not interested at all!In the Rock mode, the bottom does not curve very much so it really doesn't do much rocking. After about a month of him not playing with it, we moved up to the Ride mode.He played with it for about a day, but as soon as he saw me pushing him from behind with the parent's handle, he decided he wanted to do that.So now he hardly ever plays with it, and when he does, he pushes it around like a stroller.I guess soon I will just take the handle off, and see if he will ride it.However it seems to me that the handle is hard to turn side to side, so we might just have to go get a regular tricycle. We've only had it for a couple of months, so I hope as he gets older maybe he'll like it more.Overall, very disappointed and would never recommend this to anyone.

2-0 out of 5 stars Rock, Roll and Ride Delux
We bought the Fisher Price Rock, Roll and Ride Delux for my son shortly after his first birthday. He has only used the toy indoors in the rock mode, being that it was winter when we purchased it.We bought the Delux model because my son loves lights and sounds.Immediately when we bought it we noticed that the lights and sounds options did not function in the rock mode like they were intended to.The lights are supposed to go off when your child rocks it.I even got on it (I weigh 100 lbs) and rocked and couldnt get the lights to come on.There are little buttons in the steering column that seem to control lights and sound function that arent working properly. We are a bit disappointed seeing how we bought the delux version for the lights and sounds which dont function well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great ride on for indoors and outdoors !!!
My son got this present for his first birthday and it is his favorite toy.He is able to ride it inside the house, or he just climbs on it and rocks and presses all the buttons. He also rides it outdoors. He absolutely loves this trike. He has been climbing on it by himself before he could even walk. This is a great toy!!! ... Little conductors will have loads of fun with this high-quality figure-eight railroad set from Thomas & Friends. Made of wood, the track features an elevated bridge in the center and a water tower where Thomas can re-fuel; the "water" rises and falls with flicks of the spout. Sir Topham Hatt and a red cargo car keep Thomas company. Other items in the 25-piece set include a railroad-crossing sign, a stop sign, and a tree. The instructions clearly diagram how to assemble the track. The box has a handle and makes a good carrying case. --Andy Boynton ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great value for a great set!
We gave this to our 4 yr old son for his birthday. When he opened it - he yelled out "Cool!".I don't think there could be any higher praise from a 4 yr old.

He had wanted the water tower, but since it retailed for $25 alone - I felt it was definitely worth it to spend $15 more and get the whole set!

Thomas products from learning curve are excellent quality and will provide years of enjoyment for your little engineer!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic value and wonderfully entertaining
This is by far the best deal I've seen on a Thomas set. The water tower retails alone for $24.00 and the bridge for $18! My son is absolutely wild about Thomas and the water tower and bridge are the two things he plays with the most. I am thrilled that they have combined them into a set along with track, and plan to give this as a gift to my nephew.

The water tower contains liquid that appears to "drain" when you lower the spout (this alone is worth hours of entertainment for a toddler). The bridge has 3 parts and is very easy for young hands to assemble. It's reasonably stable, although the top piece is not held in place with anything other than gravity and can be knocked over accidentally. There is plenty of room underneath for trains and track. Some cheaper sets have bridges that are so low that the trains don't fit underneath.

Thomas brand track is excellent quality and features indented "ties," unlike less expensive versions. However, it's fully compatible with Brio, Imaginarium, and several generic brands on the market. This set also includes a Thomas train and cargo car to start your Thomas collection (Watch out! It's addicting). These would retail for about $10 apiece if you bought them separately. If your child already has a Thomas train, don't worry. To a 2 or 3 year old, two identical trains are more fun than one.

A simple figure-8 track layout is best for young children who are being introduced to wooden train sets for the first time. You can also rearrange the pieces to make a loop or simple circle. I highly recommend this set as a first train set for any boy or girl age 2 and up! A great companion is Thomas Wacky Track, which allows for a wider range of curve diameters, and reduces the frustration level of beginning engineers. ... Read more

Soup up the wagon and upgrade the ride to first class with this top-quality padding from the makers of America's original little red wagon. One-inch-thick pads smooth the wrinkles of the road and cushion and protect passengers from jolts and bumps. All cushions are covered in bright red, matte-finish vinyl, with edge binding sewn in heavy-duty thread. The bed pad measures 14 by 1 by 32.5 inches. The two end pads measure 15 by 1 by 5.625 inches, and the two side pads are 33 by 1 by 5.625 inches. The smaller pads fasten around the slats with Velcro webbing fasteners. Don't disregard the comments about this pad set not fitting the ATW model.Radio Flyer makes several wagons and pad sets. The large ATW requires Radio Flyer set #BP29 (which Amazon does not carry). The smaller ATW model uses set #BP24.

Peep-peep! Here comes Percy the little steam engine from the ever-popular Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends book series and television's Shining Time Station (based on The Railway Series by Reverend W. Awdry). With its rounded corners and larger features, this chunky-styled Percy is designed for little hands. Made of lightweight plastic and sporting rubber-trimmed tires, Percy, the youngest and most eager engine in the station, heads off down the tracks with his traditional three-dimensional smiling face. A rear coupling prong allows Percy to pull freight and passenger cars of his same chunky style. The 4.5-inch-by-2.5-inch engine has an axle width of 1.75 inches and fits plastic tracks designed for the My First Thomas train series. This toy does not fit the standard 1.5-inch wooden tracks. --Kathryn Gustafson ... Read more

Most of my trains are pretty old except for the new ones but Percy really hasn't had any scratches and i've had him for nine years. His magnet is still there and it's in working order. Percy is one of everyone's favorite engines and this one is a great buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars My son loves it!!!
My son is a big fan of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. His favorite is Percy. He takes his Percy trains with him wherever he goes (to bed, in the car, around the house, etc.).We even bought an extra for him just in case he loses one of them.If your children love Thomas (and what toddler doesn't?), I do have a piece of advice--get duplicates of the trains. You never know if one will get lost, or forgotten!I got doubles of most of the trains, Percy included, and it can be a real lifesaver when one gets lost or left behind!

4-0 out of 5 stars Still great fun after a year & a half!
We received this for my son's first birthday. He legs were far too short to make use of it at one, and he's not a short kid.He used it effectively as a walk-behind for quite a while. He did like the phone right away, but it broke very early on.The under-seat storage has always been a big hit.And he discovered on his own that the front comes off for use as a tote (aka "my toolbox").At just 2-½ and 37", he is still using his fire truck, and loves it.For us, this is an inside toy and perfect on our hardwood floors.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great value!
This is a great ride on toy for the money.I wanted something simple and fun and thats what we got!It doesn't have any fancy noisemakers or lights to get annoyed with. It's just good, old fashioned fun.My son loves to store his water cup in the secret compartment while he makes laps around the house. He's only had a it a few weeks, but I see lots of good make believe play in the future!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best "bike" for the little people
My little guy has had a blast with this bike for almost 2 years (he's short for his age). The handle on the back helped him learn to walk at age 1 and he's been chugging along on it since. He's even getting a little daredevil-ish down slopes these days. The boy can cruise quicker than you'd think on this thing, even on a level sidewalk with foot-power.

This "bike" is a great buy.The seat opens up and is large enough to put lots of rocks, hot wheels, etc in. The bike is lightweight, plastic is sturdy, price is cheap, all functions well.

The "toybox" on the front does come off but we've just left it on so that it doesn't get to where it is too loose to stay on (plastic clips will wear out).It looks better on anyway and the toybox is too small for any real use other than a simulated "engine replacement."Use the under-seat compartment for toys, etc.

As far as the review by "kt" about the bike being too low for use outside, at about 15 months I cut the little safety tabs (visible in picture - made to keep it from tipping over front or back) off with kitchen scissors and it is still VERY stable and has never flipped over in either direction - even under recent "advanced freestyle" use.

And for the review by "Dorothy Rosa "flyawayhome"" - some people just can't handle REAL life so they insist that everyone else join their make-believe world. There is a pink/white version of the bike for those who want to bring out the feminine/ist in their boys. ... Read more

Perhaps the cutest construction vehicles to ever take to theroad, the tough oversize trucks from Little Tikes feature well-roundedseams and corners and a rugged plastic build, perfect for the smallhands and boisterous attention of enthusiastic young road workers. This12-inch-long, 9-inch-high, and 9-inch-wide dump truck, cast in brightyellow and black, gets around on fat plastic tires and has a bed thatreally lifts up to dump its load. The truck's simple design also makes a quick hose-off easy after a long day in the sandbox. --Paul Hughes ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Our toddler's favorite toy
We bought this truck for my son's first b-day. At first he just piled it with toys and dumped them out. He slowly figured out how much fun it was to hold onto the back and push it around the house. It's truly his favorite toy. His friends (up to age 4) also all love this truck. We're going out to buy another one because they all fight over it!

Our son is 19 months old and we've never had a problem with him getting hit in the head with the back of the truck the way other reviews have described. I'm not saying it's not possible to get hit. He just figured out quickly the correct way to push it and play with it.

This truck is plastic and seems indestructible. Because it's plastic, it's lightweight and easy to maunever around. We think it is a great truck for both toddlers and preschoolers.

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful toy,except!!
My son pcked this out at a local store. After a couple of weeks, the truck did not make the sound it was supposed to.I called little tikes and a check is on the way for a new one.My son loves this toy and makes the sound every time he sees.Little Tikes brands are the best made toys around!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Back of truck hits children in face
When my son plays with his dump truck ,the back comes up & hits him in the face, because there is no way to latch it while kids are pushing it around. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Rugged Riggz Are Great!
My son got this as a Christmas gift just after he turned 2.He is 3.5 now and still loves it! The motorcycles hold up really well, but they can be tricky to put on the flatbed. So, he really plays with them separately. The truck and trailer, however, are his favorite toys and he plays with them all the time.He can get the trailer onto the truck very well on his own and carries his hot wheels around on it all the time.It is virtually indestructible.Buy it for your 2-year-old!

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely great toy!
My 2-year-old loves this truck and the motorcycles! It's very durable, and even has endured my toddler trying to ride on it.Love the no-scratch tires too! This is a VERY, VERY nice toy and a great gift idea for any little boy.

5-0 out of 5 stars fantastic non-chokable motorcycle toy! woowee!
Honestly, the truck that hauls the toys gets mostly ignored but the motorcycles OVERJOY my son. I bought them when he was a bit over 18 mos - he loves motorcycles and it's almost impossible to find a well designed motorcycle toy for the under 3 set, so this toy is definitely worth it.
No chokable parts, very durable and chunky enough that it probably won't get lost under the fridge, couch or low table (which as we all know can cause a mini-meltdown). It's great that you get two motorcycles, one for each grabby toddler hand, hahahahaha. ... Read more

Editorial Review

A tinier version of the traditional Radio Flyer steel trike, this 10-inch classic couldn't get any cuter without an anxious toddler onboard. Wide handlebars with grips, matching red pedals, a step in back for piggybacking, and a wide two-color seat give it a distinctly retro look. But its old-fashioned style doesn't take away from its functionality--the ride is smooth.--Diane Beall ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars For older kids
I bought this for my son's 2nd birthday. He is turning 3 in a few weeks and finally can touch the pedels. This toy should be for 3 and up. It has been basicly sitting on my porch for a year untouched. And the weather here is nice all year. Also a wheel felloff. He barely ever used the bike. now he can reach the pedels and he can't ride it because we have to go buy a cap to hold on the wheel.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the best you can buy - needs to be heavier
We bought this tricycle for our three-year-old and had the same problem as everyone else here has - the steering on the handlebars just doesn't stay put. We've had to adjust ours numeous times too.It gets used, but it just isn't all that safe. You HAVE to use a helmet with this guy because it's VERY easy to tip over, which is a huge deal for the age group for which this is intended. It's nice that they kept the classic styling but there's one thing they shouldn't have kept - how dastardly easy it is to get your foot under that back bar and scrape the top of your foot!I did that a zillion times as a kid and now, I'm doing it again with my child's bike!I HATE that! And, I have the scars to prove it.

All-in-all, if you like nostalgia, then by all means, avail yourself of this product. But quite frankly, I'd buy something else more study.I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone letting their child use this product unsupervised. It just tips over way too much.I get the willies each time I see this guy go down the driveway.Good thing I've been there each time this thing has tipped over.

2-0 out of 5 stars Cute, but not safe
We have been very disappointed with this trike. Not only will the steering wheel not stay positioned properly, but it is very tippy and dangerous. My son has had this trike for a year, and now at 3 it is still a hazard.Children sit up so high and the broad turning radius causes the trike to tip over very easily causing a big fall.We are going to buy a Kettler instead and anticipate better results.Cute to look at, but best left at the store, at least for 3 year olds. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Spencer is number one!
This guy has a minor role in the Thomas series, but boy, is he a favorite in our house! He's different - his face looks laid back and he has a smirk on his face as well. He's a bit snooty since his job is to take the Duke and Duchess of Boxford around but since he is the fastest engine, well, he has a right to be snooty! He's on the video "New Friends for Thomas" and instantly became a favorite!Sure am glad he's available and am wondering when Max is coming out!Highly recommend this one - he's really different and a great addition to our set.Highly Recommend!

5-0 out of 5 stars Spencer the British mallard
Spencer is a silver British mallard (the fastest steam engine of its time), with a coal tender in the back, and a laid-back face.If your child enjoys acting out the stories from the Thomas video series, Spencer was brought to the island as the private engine of the visiting Duke and Duchess of Boxford, so his personality is a bit snooty. As you can see, Spencer has a very minor role in the Thomas & Friends TV show, but this train is a must have!He has a unique look. I have enjoyed Spencer as well, and bought some express coaches for him.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spenser The Silver Engine
Spenser, one of the newer friends of Thomas, is a great addition to the Thomas line. As with all of the wooden trains, these hold up really well.

I'm noticing the paint on the top chipping off, but I suppose this is to be expected with trains that are tossed into a huge backpack and jostled around.

My son plays a lot with these trains, and gets much enjoyment from them! ... Read more
