3-0 out of 5 stars The older the better
Our little guy did not like this toy much when he was younger. He got it for his first birthday and only liked the little animals. Now he's 20 months and he loves it.He understands it's a train and moves all the pieces around and will play with it on and off all day!Sometimes, age is everything.

5-0 out of 5 stars wished I'd started little people sooner!
Bought the happy house set for my granddaughter's 2nd birthday (in late January), and other things for Christmas.Visited after Christmas, and took along the little people zoo train in my luggage, as an only "grampa" who feels duty-bound to spoil his only granddaughter. She welcomed the toy so enthusiastically that I stopped at a store and bought the carwash and circus bike that pulls 2 other cars.I only wish that all the cars had a rear coupling so a longer train could be made.At 23 months, she promptly identified the objects in the basket in the giraff car, and had the other animals "eating" out of the basket. She enjoys interchanging the figures among the cars, and between sets. Lots and lots of play value. I only wish I'd given the house set for Christmas!

5-0 out of 5 stars my son is still using it and he's almost 3
My son got this as a gift for xmas just before his first birthday and he is still playing with it.It is very durable and he loves to take it apart and play with each animal. It took him a while to figure out how to get the train cars to stay together - and it seemed liked the first/front car almost came off the rest when he was pulling it up non-flat surfaces. He has tons of toys and still always seems to pick this one up at least each day and play with it for a while.definitely recommend it for a boy or girl! ... Unzip this 10-by-14-inch, bright turquoise, soft cloth book, and you'll find two animal-packedalphabet trains spanning both pages. Each train car is a pocket, and each pocket is embroidered with aletter of the alphabet. Inside the pockets you'll find friendly little pillow animals, each one marked with aletter of the alphabet: the pink elephant rides in the E car, and the green alligator rides in the A car.Your child will love taking the animals out of the pockets and stuffing them back in (a favorite toddleractivity). You'll have fun teaching your child the names of the animals and letters, such as N for newtand X for xenops. When playtime is over, your toddler can zip the whole gang safely inside, grab thesturdy handle, and tote the little animals to their next destination. --Elisabeth Fredrickson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Learning !!!!
I bought this for my daughter when she was 1 1/2 years old last christmas. She loves it, (and so do I).She still pulls it out to play with.Amazingly enough, we have never lost an animal for more than a few weeks.Since there is a space for each animal, it is a great storage too.You are able to see if you have everything when it is put away.Which leads to another great part about this toy, my daughter LOVES to put all the animals back in their "garages" (as my daughter calls it).Very soon after we bought this, she was memorizing her letters and telling me what each animal was.Since they all have matching letters on the animals and their "garages" it helps the younger ones find out where each goes.I can't say enough good things about this.I hate to buy toys that get put in the toy box and never get pulled out again. But this one has definately kept her attention. When you put that with the educational opportunity, how can you resist it?It is cute!Oh and you know how you get tired of playing the same toys with your children? This one is fun for the adults too. I forgot to mention one of the most important details. There is a form you get with the toy to order more animals if you lose any.

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite toy for my kids!
This was a gift to my newborn boy, but my 2 1/2 year old adores it!
Pros:
1.helps teach letters (each animal has the letter that starts its name on its back)
2.compact, portable
3.cute!
4.animals good for other play (my daughter likes to pretend to "save" them when they are stuck in a tree, or have them ride in her "airplane" (shoe)... and much much more
5.OK for babies (although the animals are smallish, ~ 3inches tall, they never presented a choking hazard for my son -- who likes to chew them)
6.The animals machine wash well (see chewing note above :))
Cons:
1.Lots of pieces to lose -- we lost the lion for quite a while, but he showed up behind the entertainment center
2.Some of the animals are not so recognizable -- I think "N" is a newt, but it's hard to tell.

Despite the few cons, this is probably my favorite toy that my kids have. Thus, 5 stars all around!

1-0 out of 5 stars useless
I found this toy to be pretty useless.Yes the blocks have the letters on them but you can buy wooden blocks that stack better and can build more things.the only thing the blocks were useful for was stacking one on top of the other. The train cars don't stay together well, they come apart way to easily and it frustrated my son. Also the blocks don't lock tightly either and when they'd come apart he would get frustrated again.Save your money buy a more durable train and the wooden square blocks with letters on them.

5-0 out of 5 stars SONS FAVORITE
My best friends mom got this for our son's first birthday and he loves it (he's 13 months now). He's not too interested in it when it's conected, but all he does is pick up one car and it unsnaps. It's a very durable toy that has been dropped, thrown, chewed on and attacked by cats repeatedly. With all six cats having very sharp claws, there are still no claw marks in the plastic. This is the only toy we take with us when we're out and he's always entertained. We can take a few blocks, or put the blocks on the cars and stack the whole thing. There are holes on the bottom of all the cars so that the blocks fit into the undersides as well. This makes for great storage, just put all the blocks on the cars, stack them together and put away. The only thing that I don't like is that the alphabet isn't complete. I wanted to show my son, Jason, what his name looked like and there is no J in my set, but there are doubles of some other letters. Go figure, this may just be my set though. All in all a great buy I think.

5-0 out of 5 stars Girls Can Choo-Choo, Too!
Grandma mailed the Mega Bloks ABC Train to my daughter for her second birthday. Both she and her older sister (3 years 9 mos) cheered when we opened the box!One engine and two railcars in bright rainbow colors make for tons of fun. I like the train because it helps them develop dexterity, sorting skills, and letter identification (both upper and lowercase). But my youngest daughters favorite activity is chugga-chugga-choo-choo!The wheels spin freely.About 1.25 inches square, the blocks interlock easily in either direction.I had to show them how the cars snap together. One design issue: the roof on the engine cabin has four pegs, but because of the curved shape the blocks do not fit snug. They keep popping off! A pull string would've been nice, but my girls are more than happy with this train as is. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A gift that keeps on giving...
We bought this for our youngest son last Christmas. He is now 2 1/2 years old and still plays with it almost every day.It is very well made, and very reasonably priced. In the beginning, we had to sit with our son to show him how to put the train back together, but now he's a pro. This is a toy we'll be pulling out for a grandchildren in the years to come, as long as he doesn't feed any of the blocks to our dog!!I highly recommend this toy; it gets more "play time" than our leappad, lego table or Vtech toys.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ours fell apart
The entire stacking train fell apart within a month of arriving in our household. My children are not rough on toys, but the wheels came off the train with normal use. My mother threw out the packagaing before we ever saw it, so I have no idea how the train is supposed to fit together (we guestimated) but even so, once the wheels were off, my children were not interested. I have a three-year-old who loves puzzles and is very proficient at them, which would seem to make her the ideal recipient of this toy. She didn't enjoy it, however. The concept behind the toy is okay, however, and if the wheels had stayed on, maybe the kids might have warmed up to it eventually.

3-0 out of 5 stars Save the picture!
Well we just got rid of the first set I bought at Big Lots when my son got a second set for his birthday. He seems to more into now than last Christmas and I saved the picture that came with it so that *I* can remember how it goes together.I think it's a little frustrating because the pieces HAVE to go just *SO* to make it fit properly. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One of my son's favorites!
My son who is now 2, has had these for almost a year and I can say that he plays with them every single day! He loves mixing them up and building different cars. We have the construction set also and he loves that too!! Highly recommend these!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Overlooked gem!!
I saw these some time back and passed on them.I'd never bought Mega Bloks before because the ones we'd played with seemed less durable and didn't stay together as well as Legos. The first time I saw these I actually thought it was such a great idea that surely Lego would surely come up with a comparable product. Well, they haven't and now these are getting harder to find.My 2 year old loves taking them apart and putting them back together. He most often wants them put back together "properly"while his 5 yr. old brother likes mixing them up.We use them to talk about colors "can you make a car with red on the front and blue in the back?"They seem very durable and roll much better than the standard building block cars (ie duplo and primo). We roll them across the kitchen floor without tipping or turning like most of ours do.The chunky pieces are great for little toddler hands, and I'm certain our vehicles are destined to travel many miles up and down our couch! How did the Oppenheimer Toy Portfolio people miss this one?My only regret is that I passed on them 6 months ago! ... Read more

This snappy red convertible is loaded, as they say at the car lot. This toy has enoughfeatures, and different ways of combining them, to conceivably satisfy a child until she's ready to ride atricycle. The car comes with a removable rocker base, footrest, backrest, safety bar. It also has a short barfor a child to push the toy as a walking aid, and a tall handle so an adult can push the car and child around. The safety bar features a removable, electronic keyboard that plays five songs, makes animals noises whenbuttons are pushed, and has a spinner. It can be attached to the side of a crib with included straps.Eventually, you can remove all the extras, leaving a steerable car with a clicking key, an on/off switch, anda gearshift set into the dashboard.--S. 3-0 out of 5 stars LOVE this toy but...
My son loved this toy - still does - but as he's about in the 150% for his height, he is way too tall for it.He easily climbs over the guard rail and tips the car over on it's side or goes head first over the front. He sits calmly when we take a walk around the block with it, but otherwise, he is very inquisitive and could hurt himself by checking out his car while it's sitting still.

4-0 out of 5 stars My son loves this!!!
My son is 14 months old and received this as a gift for his 1st birthday. He had only been using it for 5 minutes when he flipped the electronic keyboard off the scooter onto our tile floor and now the lights and sound do not work.Aside from that he loved pushing it around and started learning how to walk only 2 days after getting this toy!Now that he's a walker he still uses it as a scooter with none of the extra stuff on it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy it!
Where do I start? We got this for our 12 month old twin boys and were excited about all that it was "purported" to be. Upon assembly, it was painfully obvious that this was not a high quality item. It is extremely flimsy - the boys are able to actually lift up the safety bar section because it does not adhere adequately. They do enjoy sitting in it and playing with the activity center - for about 5 minutes. One of the boys pulled up on it and promptly fell because the activity center is not attached / locked in to the car. The "rocking" is a joke, the instructions even worse then that. We haven't even attempted to take this off the carpet so I can't review the other features. We are very disappointed with this product and are extremely grateful we didn't buy two of them. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not the best for the price
I bought this for my three-year-old son for Christmas, and before he had even played with it for two minutes, the cab with the crane part was broken at the point where it snaps on to the flatbed. For $55, I feel this is a cheaply made product. The plastic is flimsy and the parts are not durable. However, he does like it, although it is frustrating for him to have to constantly try to put the cab and crane back on the flatbed portion. I would not recommend this product because there are so many more well made trucks and machines out there for 1/2 the price or less./

5-0 out of 5 stars Pricey for a Plastic Toy
My son got this as a Christmas present and absolutely loves the truck. The only "issue" I had with the toy was that it was all Plastic for toy with so high a price tag.His Tonka trucks are 1/2 the price and are metal. He soes love it and plays with it often.

3-0 out of 5 stars a mixed bag
my kids begged for a logging truck after watching the "House Construction Ahead" video that includes footage of cool logging machines. Our Brio garbage truck has been so durable (they RIDE the thing, for heavens sake) that I figured this would be bomber as well. However, the pick-up claw broke after 10 minutes (on christmas morning, ouch). The company cheerfully replaced the broken piece, but that also broke after a couple days. The claw was never easy for little hands to manipulate - sized more for a grown-up and causing much toddler frustration - so I never bothered replacing it again. But the rest of the truck keeps going and going. My kids are now nearly 40 pounds and they have ridden it with their full weight daily for nearly a year now. I think its indestructible. What a shame that they put such a junky claw piece on an otherwise sturdy toy ... Read more

My Grandson has this tractor/train & he seems to really enjoy playing with it.He knows where the animals go, and what noises they will make when he pushes them.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good sounds but animals fall off wagon easily
My 12 month old received this as a birthday gift and likes it...the animal and tractor sounds are great. My only disapointment is that the animals and farmer do not stay in place well. It's hard for little hands to put them in the right place and for the figures to stay in place while she plays.Overall a fun toy for the price, though.I would still recommend it. ... With real train sound effects and a menagerie of chattering circusanimals, this three-car train is ideal for young engineers and circus loversalike. The set includes a red plastic locomotive with a friendly engineer whorides on top. Push him down and listen to the whistle blow and the chug-chug-chugof the engine. The next car is purple and carries a monkey, a tiger, and an elephant. Each figure sits atop a button, so that when they're pushed, theychatter, roar, or trumpet. The engineer and the animals are removable andthey can take turns sitting alone on the last car, a short yellow caboose. The carslink easily, making this train the surest way to bring the circus to town.--Lee Strucker ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Choo Choo!
My son really likes this toy. When he was younger he liked to chew on the little figures. Now he's a year and likes to push the train around and push down the animals/man to hear the noises. The only thing I would change about this toy would be if the cars could all stay attached. You just have to lift up one of the cars or tip the train over and they become unattached. Its a durable toy though and we like it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Zoo Train
This was one of those random buys for my son when he was 1&1/2.He had no interest in it at all--at first. Now he's almost 2, & has been overcome by this sudden addictiveness to the animals!!!They ALL (including the conductor) have to go everywhere with him. From his crib to the grocery store.Forget the train...the animals wobble around too much, and the caboose always falls off.He has no interest in the caboose anyway, since it doesn't make any noise. The animals have helped my son learn how to make elephant, tiger, and monkey noises. As far as durability goes, I'm not too sure about the train, but the little critters are great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loads of fun for Reed
My 2 1/2 year old received this train for Christmas, and is still in love with it. Although it's not his favorite toy, he still plays with it regularly, and likes to combine it with other animal toys to create his own zoo. The only complaint I have with the toy is that it is a little noisy, but not enought to damage anybody's hearing like some toys, and since my son is hard of hearing anyway, it is nice that he can hear the sounds. He loves that the light on the front really lights up. We tied a short piece of string to the smoke stack to make it a pull toy, but it's just as fun to push around. He loves it and that means I love it! ... Read more

You can almost hear the rumble of the construction site.Ambitious young construction workers have got to have good (and fun)equipment, and they can't do much better than this rugged, giant dumptruck filled with Mega Bloks. The 1-foot-wide-by-over-1.5-foot-longplastic dumper comes with dozens of Maxi Mega Bloks in its hauling bed(the biggest, easiest-to-handle block in the Mega Blok line). Asmiling, 3-inch-high driver, complete with green coveralls and a brightyellow hardhat, drives along on tough 5-inch-high plastic wheels, andthe bed on this rig tips back and dumps. 4-0 out of 5 stars excellent toy
We bought this for our one year old son, he is now three. He plays with it all the time. Very durable, it looks like we just bought it. He puts everything in it and pushes it around. I highly reccommend this toy well worth the money spent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beware of chipping paint!!!
We recieved this as a 1st birthday gift for our son, who is still going throught the teething/chewing on everything stage. I must say after he played with the little man that is in the truck I was horrified to see his mouth full of yellow paint. It seems the hard hat on the little man is painted and not colored plastic. And it all peels off if it is put in the mouth. My son does love the toy and plays with it all the time, just not the man that goes with it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Simply good set of vehicles and people
These are easy for crawlers to push around, as mine loved to do.Currently she enjoys the sirens the most, but she also likes me to move them around in train form, which she hasn't discovered how to do yet.The siren sounds are good quality and fun.FYI the ambulance does NOT make noise, which is okay, because its door opens. The cars and people are cute; I think the cars would be a little better if they could hold the people in a more realistic way--down in the front, instead of just sitting on top of the vehicle. But considering I wanted vehicles and people w/o the garage and station, these were a good buy.NOTE: These are also called "Emergency Tots," which matches the names of the 2 other versions: "Construction Tots" and "Tractor Tots."

This is a great toy for kids. I bought this for a friend's son and he loves it! He is fascinated with the lights and sounds. This is a durable product and it entertains the kids for hours.
For the person who gave this one star, it was inappropriate to buy this product for a 14 month old child. There is a reason for the recommended age on all toys.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great FP toy!
I had to write this review after I read a previous reviewer who gave this toy 1 star. My advice to that reviewer: READ THE AGE RECOMMENDATION! Don't call and complain to Fisher-Price that your child's hand got pinched when you buy a toy that is for 18 months up for a 14-month-old.

I am always impressed with the durability and imagination-inspiring design of FP Little People toys. You will never be sorry when you purchase them. I still have sets from the 70's when I was a child!

Baby Loves It
My 18 month old son got this for Christmas last year and still plays with it every single day. How's that for durability? It's hard to find a toy kids will play with for a week, let alone a whole year. Defintately worth it.

wonderful
My 3 year old received this toy as a birthday gift and absolutely loves it. If the crank is turned a certain way the truck wheels will turn and move forward for a good amount of space. And my 11 month old loves to push this toy around, also.

Not happy with its durability!!
This toy was purchased for my 5 year old when he turned 4, because he is such a fireman enthusiast. I also have a son who was 1 at the time. It didn't take long for the ladder to disappear. It was too hard for the active boys to keep up with, and they got frustrated with it quickly. They also did not appreciate the fact that the fireman and dog can't switch places. My son quickly put it in his "not interested" pile of toys in the closet. He just didn't play with it very long. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars not worth the money-much smaller than the image-
This car carrier is quite small 11" long 5" high-the photo looks like a much larger item.I paid $24.99 for the product-and at most I would pay is $10.00.Because the item is surely not worth the money that I paid, I have to pay to ship it back so I have to absorb these cost.I lost $3.99 by ordering this, the company should be ashamed of the price they are asking.

5-0 out of 5 stars My kids Love it!
I bought this toy for my one year old last year and both he and my three year old son LOVED IT!They still play with it and have a great time. The truck makes great noises - there IS an on/off button. The cars fit perfectly inside or on top of the truck. They're easy for little hands to manipulate! ... My 12 month old son got this for his birthday. He loves it.It is definately a toy that will last a long time and keep his interest for years to come.I like that it is free moving and it rolls eaisly and stays together. It is a really cool toy!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is Too Much Fun!
Four train cars, two buildings, a sign and a crossing make for a wonderful set.The train cars roll very well and are very durable.I bought these along with the construction vehicle set (there is also a rescue vehicle set) and my kids love them.

Each of the cars has a base and a two-piece top so you can mix and match if you wish.

The large style blocks are easy for my one year old but still fun for his older sister.Great fun.I wish they had these when I was younger. ... Read more
