Great idea: but no instructions, so completely useless.
We live in the UK, andsent this construction toy to our 5 year old grandson in New York as it claimed to allow 40 different modesl to be built: like the Meccano system of the 1940's. They have just called to say how disappointing it is as there are no instructions included, and it is really quite complex. What a let down, and we dont know how to get the instructions either. [...]Or perhaps this product isnt meant to have instructions!

Fabulous toy
As a Harry Potter fan, I started buying Legos for the first time in years; I still remember when they didn't have specific kits.I was so impressed by my first Harry Potter Legos that I've collected quite a magical landscape by now.I loved this kit--it has a lot of interesting elements, like the swinging back door and revolving bookshelf, and I have found that its parts can be well-used to make up good alternative buildings for those of us who like to create models rather than build them exactly as instructed.This set and the Hogwarts Castle are my favorite Lego sets thus far.

Know what you are buying
Whenever I buy a Lego set for my son I consider three things.First of all, the build: How fun will it be to build the first time?Second, I consider the playability: What's fun about this set?Then I consider the pieces of the set:Will it still be fun when half of the pieces are lost in the sofa and he's building his own castles from what's left (this kind of versitility is why I buy my son Legos)?
This set is really fun on the first day.While it only took us a few minutes to build (there are lots of large pieces), my son really enjoyed acing out scenes from the movie.The following weeks however, were not quite as good.The srength of the Harry Potter Legos is that they really resemble the places in the films.However, the consequense of this is a lot of peices that are specific to Harry's world.The prblem with this is that my son's original castles become less his, and more Harry Potter's-- the pieces really do not work well in other environments.Since we bought a few Harry Potter sets my son has asked that we not get any more, he says they are "too much like the movie".So I guess it's fun for a while, but don't expect the fun to move much past the directions.

Look at the name."Dumb"ledore's Office.It's dumb this set including Harry Potter. He doesn't teach much for kids and this set makes no difference.You can always buy it I suppose for a medieval legos collection but Harry is a minifig thats mindless. ... Read more

A family that Magnetix together sticks together
A total hit in our house. All the kids though these were so cool and so did the parents and aunts / uncles. My only complaint is you can never have enough. You just want to keep building and building.

I just can't say enough good things about this toy
I just love magnetix as does my 7 year old. This toy promotes creativity, teaches about science (magnetic laws), and is just plain fun. My son and I play with these for hours. You can build them as high as legos but they also don't hurt as much when you step on them. The pieces are small so magnetix are definately not for kids under 3 and possibly even 4. They are absolutely worth the money.

My 9 year old son LOVES these toys!!!
I ran into Toys R Us on Christmas Eve last year to find another toy for my son (I wanted him to have a certain amount) and saw these on an end display. I bought a box, wrapped it, and put it under the tree.
He absolutely LOVED playing with these. So did his siblings. They spent hours and hours for weeks making all kinds of cool concoctions. We have since added several more sets to our family.
I came here today to buy a set for a birthday this weekend for a 13 year old family friend who still enjoys building things.

I have to agree with sbrown.I don't beleive Toys R Us ever had this product.I too, went to the store every day for four days.I was told that this was a "TOYS R US" exclusive and could not be purchased anywhere else.At least I got a rain check for the advertised price but here it is four (4) days after Christmas and still they have NO magnetix toys availabe.I got mine from Super Target the day before Christmas. ... Best Builders!
A total hit in our house. All the kids though these were so cool and so did the parents and aunts / uncles. My only complaint is you can never have enough. You just want to keep building and building. The best deal is when the sets are on sale.

Tempting even for "older kids"
I bought this for my 7 y.o. son, but he's had to share it with his older brother and sister, who seem to have a lot of fun with it.

The idea of adding on by buying more sets is also a good one.

Definately worth the money!

Surprisingly terrific toy
My son (then 3) got this set for Christmas from a friend.I was skeptical.Despite the age range on the box, I thought it was a toy too old to appeal to a small child, and I worried he'd lose the pieces to easily and then he'd be frustrated and annoyed.I'm happy to say I was wrong on both counts.

He loves Magnetix.I wouldn't hesitate to say it's his most played with Christmas gift, and he got many nice building block sets.And the imagination it fosters!He makes snakes, he makes rivers, he makes volcanos, he makes cranes - he loves it.And the pieces really don't get lost.They seem to just stick together in a clump.I am very happy to see him so interested in this toy, when I truly thought it was too old for him.He even took it to school for show-and-tell, and I got two calls from other mothers wanting to know more about it.

I highly recommend this toy, even for 3 year olds!The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I wish it came with a case or container of some kind to keep them in. ... Read more

Very realistic and fun
My son has a great time with this Saturn V rocket.It comes apart in the appropriate stages and the lunar lander and command module fit together well and in the proper way.The pushbutton countdown feature is nice, though I would like it more if a second push were to turn off the sound (there is currently no way to stop the sound once it starts other than to wait until it is finished).The plastic parts are slightly bendable so we have not yet had a part snap off and break.My only complaint is that the stages break apart too easily, especially when the rocket is turned horizontal, and it is a bit difficult for my son to put it back together again.Despite this, he is still playing with it regularly three months after receiving it as a gift: high praise from a five-year-old.

Great fun for space lover
I bought this last christmas and my 4 yr old still loves it. Great for imagining liftoffs to the moon. If your child likes space and blast offs ---this is it.

Very fun lego set
It's really fun making your own crazy sea creatures! I recommend this set to anyone who likes legos.

The glow-in-the-dark pieces are very britlte
Great overall.My only complain was that the glow in the dark teeth broke very easily.Those pieces are different from the regular non-glow pieces.

10 stars if i could!
i was hesitant to pay $20 for this toy but found it on sale right before christmas, boy if i had known how much my son would love this i would have had no problem paying full price, it is so so worth it.my son has spent hours with this.i am convinced lego is one of the best things ever invented.this is so much better than a hunk of plastic gadget that just takes up space in a toy box.we love the designs of the creatures in this set.the glow-in-the-dark teeth are a cool touch, my son likes to take his finished creations in the room and turn the lights off to see the teeth glow.its so neat to see him have the satisfaction of accomplishing building all this stuff. and at the same time honing his fine motor skills, and hand/eye co-ordination etc, in preparation for learning to write, all while he's engaged in fun playtime!i also really want to mention if you are hesitating because of the age recommendation, i think it really must depend on the child.i have held back on certain lego sets because they say 6+ or 7+ but my son only just turned five at christmas and had no frustration with this set. i will not be hesitating in the future.the make and create lego sets are the best! ... Zome System Creator Kit
My son received this set for his eighth birthday.It was frustrating for him, as well as myself, at first as the rods have to really be pushed hard into the balls in order for your creations to not fall apart easily.Afer hours of working with the set we have found it to be truly contagious.He has made some really amazing "buildings" and never wants to dismantel them so the 900+ piece set is very handy to have.I have a hard time seeing the price value in this product.It appears to be a very inexpensive product to manufacture and it sells for a fairly steep price.

Top's K-Nex by a long shot!! Incredibly easy!!
Just an incredible set. The pieces are well shaped and fit together not only easily but logically, the pieces are color coded so there's no bending or frustration when they don't fit (like K-Nex) and the ball connectors areuniversal so you don't have to change them in order to add more.

Irecently experimented with this set and found it veryentertaining and addictive, your creativity can just take off and there'sno limit!!

What you get is more than you see.
This construction set has been a staple in my elementary gifted classroom for nearly two years. The students love the creativity and impressive structures they can build. I got this toy just yesterday and have already "reconstructed" it around 7 times!!!!!! This toy is amazing and very fun to play with. Its actually quite big too. The Best Toy On Earth
This toy is awsome. It is the best toy ever.

Never meant to be the TV show Batmobile
The reason this Batmobile does not resemble the one from the televison show in some respects is that it is based on the comic book, not the TV show. I am not sure if Playing Mantis has the license for the show or not, but I do know they have a Batplane model which was never in the show.

I have the '50s model and the '60s model, and both are fun to build and great to display.

Johnny Lightning Batmobile Could have been better
This is not a replica of the 60's t.v. show.The Barris Batmobile did not have headlights or the yellow thing is the lower cut out, only yellow marker light in front.The original had 3 rocket launchers, turbine exhaust that shot out a flame, had an ariel with lights and beacon on top.It also had two rear winshields like on the front.It had a bat turn lever on roof, bat phone, computers.The fins on the rear on the JL do not have the webbing, the rear bumper is wrong,the hood is totally wrong the realone had no chrome or tail lights.Ther is no chain cutter, the interior is all wrong.I dont know if they did not get permission from george barris or what but ths is a poor copy of the batmobile!The Corgi # 267 was the best copy of a batmobile made. ...
