5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT kitchen
We had a hand-me down kitchen since my first b/g twins were 18 months, they are now 3 and have 8 month old twin brothers. We decided that a pink kitchen wasnt fit for our family, so we went in search of a new one. It was between this one and the dream kitchen. They were both, non gender specific, and both interactive. We liked this one better because the colors are more appealing to kids (atleast it was to our 3 year olds in toys r us) and that it is a little more interactive. Of course this kitchen should be for pretend, but its nice that you can put eggs on the stove and it will tell you what it is, you can also buy additional interactive foods from toysrus and from amazon. It is very durable and has held up to much abuse. My 3 year olds love to cook when mommy does (ours is in the kitchen and the old one is in the playroom). We have a lot of dishes and food, and for the ones that dont fit in the kitchen, we put in a small basket next to it. ITs big enough for about 3-4 toddlers to play with at a time. It encourages sharing and cooaperation. My kids have alot of fun with it and they espcially like the oven, who knows why! I think this kitchen is great, cute friendly and a little more interactive than the lifestyles!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fix for loudness!
I tried a suggestion that I got from a review back on January 2, 2004. Putting clear mailing tape over the round voice box (located under the black grill next to the burner) works great to reduce the sounds of the interactive burner and water sounds from the faucet to a much better level for both adults and the kids! This is easier done during the initial assembly, but the grill over the voice box can also be popped out by gripping the left side with two hands and sliding to the right, then lift up. It is easy to just snap it back in place after putting on the tape.

I researched this kitchen last year when my granddaughter was only one and kept it in mind to purchase this year. I've noticed that the manufacturer's statement has been shortened and I wanted everyone to know that the tap on the faucet has a "motion sensor"that activates dish and silverware clanging sounds with the running water sound, as long as there is movement under the spout. This is a great feature along with the food recognition on the burner. And you can use any plastic pan on the burner, not just the two that come with it. It's the food item in the pan that is somehow magically recognized!

I have learned that this model is being discontinued so if you are interested in this wonderful product, get it while you still can! The internet was the only place I was able to find it still available. (...)

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun
Our 18 month old son recieved this kitchen as a Christmas gift last year and loves it. It is a perfect size for both him and his 5 year old brother. They both play with it daily, unlike other toys that they have recieved and forget about. The constuction is as tough as it gets. Boys being boys, this toy has been used for many things other than just a kitchen(spaceship), and has always stood up to any abuse. If you can live with the color it comes in, it's a great toy. I'm currently looking to see if there are more "food" pieces that go with it. One last bit, do not wait until the night before to put it together, it takes a good hour for one person, but it's easy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great kitchen to grow with your little girl!
This was a gift for my little girl's 1st birthday. She is about to turn two and this kitchen is still played with everyday! She now makes the sound of water coming out of the faucet and cooks for me on the stove.Perfect size!I think that she will be able to use it for a few more years yet.

5-0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves it and so does my wallet!
I did alot of research before purchasing this kitchen. I did not want one that made numerous sounds (I want my daughter to use her own imagination). This kitchen is perfect. She loves the full size frig. She is tall for her age 2 1/2 and this kitchen is perfect. I read reviews that it is small and it isn't!!! The dimensions are listed. If it were any bigger your child might as well just play in the kitchen with their parent... :-) This play kitchen is sturdy and doesn't have a bunch of tiny places for dirt and bacteria to hide.LOVE IT! Highly recommended it...
(also I found it very cheap on the walmart website)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Kitchen Set!!!
My 2 year old girl LOVES this kitchen. She is always opening and closing the doors. It's held up great considering she is really rough on her toys. There are no nooks and cranies for the dirt to get into inside, so it's easy to clean. She drew with crayon on the outside, and I just used some cleaner and washed it right off. I purchased this about 3 months ago, and it was twice the price it is now. I wish I knew it would go down that much, but oh well. She loves it and it occupies her while I'm making dinner. It's small enough not to be intrusive in my kitchen, either. I thought it might be bigger, but it's just right. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT KITCHEN
We needed a play kitchen for our, at the time, 12 month old twin sons to play with at grandmas. We knew we wanted a lifestyle kitchen, but dream or deluxe? Well we couldnt see spending $300 on toy kitchen for grandmas house, so we bought the dream model. I really love this kitchen and my now 21 month olds do too!

AT TRU this seemed to be very well made, the decals were adorable and there were just soo many fun features. But we relly loved how it wasnt pink and covered with flowers, why can't boys cook too? Well the dream kitchen solved that problem! We had also planned on puting this toy kitchen in my mothersactual kitchen, and these colors wouldnt clash too much with the decor...

Well this kitchen took my husband and his brother about an hour to put together, but the directions were easy for us to follow. Our sons took to it imediatly and we were just in love! Although it doesnt have as much room as the Deluxe, it has plenty! There are 7 cabinets and a basket, plus the storage in the refriderator, oven, and microwave! There was also some counter space, so we didnt really need another table, but we got one anyway... We loved the little scenes, but put the stickers on BEFORE putting this kitchen together!!! We were actually missing the important sticker (the fall one in the window) so we called Step2 and they sent us ALL the stickers very promptly with no questions asked! That means I will have stickers to use to "touch up" the kitchen in later years.

The kitchen is extremely sturdy and my boys really give it some abuse!! Their favorite feature is the telephone, but what toddler doesnt like telephones? The interactive aspects to this kitchen are the ones with the controll panels (microwave and oven)It is very fun for our boys, and its one of their favorite toys at grandmas (along with my 9 other nieces and nephews ranging from 4 years to 12 years!!)

We love this kitchen and my mother cant believe how much fun our sons have in it, but at home we have the deluxe model which can accomidate more children, has more storage, comes with more food, has more interactions, has a dishwasher, and a double sink, but they are both really impressive. I would recomend you getting this kitchen if you dont have much room, if you dont have more than 1 child (unless you have 2 children close in age) or if you cant handout $300 dollars for a toy kitchen... But we love both and they are both great quality by Step2... we couldnt ask for anything more...

4-0 out of 5 stars Mother of 2
My in-laws had bought this kitchen for my daughter who was 18 month old Christmas 2003.My daughter still loves it and has tons of tea parties. My younger daughter who will be 2 loves playing with the kitchen also. So much so we are buying her, her own kitchen. The batteries on the light above the sink runs out to fast. And it is a little disappointing that the sink does not make running water sounds. My daughter actually puts one of the pots on the burner to make the running water sound. One of our neighbors has a 9 year old that sometimes comes over and she enjoys playing with the kitchen also. It is also very sturdy. We just purchased the kitchen with the washer and dryer for my other daughter and I hope they love that as much as they love this kitchen and I hope it holds up as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just bouth for my 20 Month old...really nice but...
What is the deal with the pot and pan that this comes with..ours are flat bottom and they do not activate the noises on the burner. The burner has little buttons that need a pan with a rim or something underneath to activate the burner...but ours do not.I read the other reviews but no one else seems to mention this. What's up with that? Now I need to go figure out if we were given the wrong pans with our set.

It is a great little kitchen overall and my daughter is loving it big time. It's only the grownup that notice the water faucet and fridge not making any noise! But hey, we paid for it so we should voice our complaints!

Again, overall a great kitchen.Pretty expensive considering no running water noise and the pots and pans don't activate the burner noise. You have to buy the extra food..it's a must to get the value out of this. Ours came with no food...even though the advertisment showed that it came with at least a few items...not in ours! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Are you sane?
WEll you wont be if you buy this grill!!! My MIL bought this toy for my 21 month old twin boys to play with while daddy grills outside... is this toy a nightmare!!!

First of all educational value... NONE... who wants their TODDLERS (who are in the copying stage by the way) repeating the same rude and innapropriate gas jokes that this grill says? I have heard them making fart sounds with their tounges, and than saying something resembling "that wasnt me!"... TOTALLY INNAPROPRIATE... and my sons thought it was hysterical to grill eachothers faces, and I found them doing the same thing on the real grill (IT WAS OFF... DONT WORRY GUYS), though with the NON TALKING grills they have never had a problem... gee??

DURABLITY... again this toy is broken with wind... who designed a lid for toddlers that falls off if a speck of lint falls onto it... The toy is not made well at all...

ABNORMALITIES (although it cant be abnormal for THIS toy because it happened to all of the reviewers) The food wont stay on the spatula, NEVER so its just soo fustrating, even for me, let alone two toddlers!!! The grill doesnt know what he's talking about because if you put the ketchup in his hand he says it mustard and vise versa, same thing with the fork and spatula... UHG!!! This toy also turned on if anyone walked by it, I mean seriously!!! It would turn on if no one was there... talk about lonely!!! And we DID turn it off and it did say "see ya later" when you pushed the red button, but it still talked!!! But when it got a little soda (and I mean about an ounce) on it... forget it!! I took out the batteries because I thought it was broken but it still talked, and now constantly... AHHH!!! We put it in the closet, and it was getting louder!! SERIOUSLY... we ended up breaking it with a sledge hammer, I am sorry for all of you who wind up with the same problems we faced... We now use our Deluxe kitchen inside, and a cuter grill (that you ca actually grill on it when standing!!) for outside... NO MORE TALKING APLIANCES FOR US

Maybe its just our grill, but this drove us off the wall to the point that we viciously broke this toy... I mean come on.. and I am NOT EVEN EXAGERATING!!!! and the worse thing... OUR SONS WERE PETRIFIED!!! They would scream if it talked to them, they would cry when it would start talking in the night, they thought a ghost was turning it on... So now that this grill is "dead" there is a restored peace in our house... It SHOULD be ILLEGAL to sell such an annoying toy to toddlers... please dont buy this grill

4-0 out of 5 stars Grillin' Fun
My son received this toy for his 2nd birthday. He couldn't wait to get it out of the box!Once the grill was out of the box, he actually sat for more than 30 minutes and played with it.It's the first time I have ever seen him sit longer than 2 minutes! He loves it! My 6 & 8 year old enjoy playing with the grill with their little brother.Great gift!

For a parent - the two improvements that I would have Playskool make would be something to hold the plastic food in and a on/off switch.Mine does not go off at all until my son activates it but I'm afraid when the batteries start going low it might start going off. The lid on ours does not come off.

3-0 out of 5 stars Tip Toe by this Toy
We thought this was cute, and both my 2 yr old and 4 yr old enjoy playing with it albeit for very short periods of time. However, the lid comes off more often than it should and it's easy to lose your burgers & buns in the toy box. My biggest complaint about this toy is that it is sound activated, so even at 3am a bump in the night sets this toy off. Take care when walking by as it will loudly say, "FIRE ME UP!", usually just after you get the baby to sleep or some other time you would like quiet. The kids like it, but this toy's cuteness rubs off quickly and it becomes annoying. ... Read more

Editorial Review

This pretend kitchen is a wonderful toy to keep toddlers occupied while you're trying to cook dinner. And, for those who are short on kitchen space, this kitchen playset sets up into a full-size kid's kitchen and then folds flat to store in a closet when playtime is done. The play kitchen features an oven and refrigerator that really open and a two-burner stove with dials that make cooking sound effects, such as sizzling or bubbling, when turned. The set comes with 18 different accessories, including a phone, a covered pot, a pan, two plates, two glasses, two forks, two spoons, a spatula, a serving spoon, a salt shaker, and several fake food items--a fried egg, green beans, and macaroni and cheese. At first glance, assembly looks daunting, but well-diagramed instructions make setup fairly easy. This playset requires three AA batteries to power the sound effects. --Cristina Vaamonde ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing - not what I expected from Fisher Price
The oven door does not stay shut on the one I bought - I should have checked the reviews first, but thought Fisher Price quality was reliable and consistent. Apparently not any more. : (
I didn't even show this to my granddaughter, and am returning it to Amazon. I'll look for another one made by another company, but this time will check the reviews first.
Also, a little piece of bad design: the shelf in the oven is too high to put in the (included) casserole with the lid on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't keep my daughter away from it!
We decided to buy this particular kitchen because it is foldable, makes sounds and has every essential a real kitchen has.Our daughter who is 17 months just loves it.We have NOT had any problems with it.As far as the oven and fridge door not staying shut (commented by other reveiws), ours does.In fact I think it's a little hard for my daughter to open and close.Which is fine because then she doesn't have all the excessories out at once! This is the first toy my daughter runs to when she wakes up in the morning.Definately worth $49.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Grandma's House!
I bought this a year ago when all three of my grandchildren were coming to visit for 10 days.(The twins(boy & girl)were 22 months and the other girl 19 months.)Of everything I had, this is what they played with ... almost constantly!Since then they have all come to visit again and it's still the hit!The littlest (now 2 1/2) has stayed at my house for the past few months and this is still the thing she goes back to over and over again!I bought this figuring when the grandkids are away it folds up and is easy to store! Now that my granddaughter is moving to her new house (along with mommy & daddy)...her mommy wants to take it with them!I thought they would want a bigger & sturdier one when it came to one just for her but no....this is the one!Think we'll be buying another! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Melissa & Doug have done it again!
This is a solid wood set that will last as long as your kids!.Yeah, the paint may wear of in a few years...but no breaking, no scratchy plastic parts, no cehap construction. And you littlest one won't even be able to chew it apart like those paper grocery/food boxes!Everything I have bought by Melissa & Doug has been great. This is no exception.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Wood" you find this food fun?
We LOVE Melissa & Doug products and this one in-particular has been our daughter's favorite! She's had this wooden food set for over a year and each one is in excellent condition. The wood and paint takes a beating, since she loves to put them in and out of her grocery basket, stack em', knock em' and re-stack em' over and over. They'll last forever and she knows each peice by heart.I hope to keep these for years, so her children can play with them as well. So much better than plastic!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Time To Shop!
These are fantastic. The "boxes" of dry goods are sturdy, colorful, well made and are hefty. My son, who's turning 2 in a few weeks, just received these as a gift and he really gets a kick out of "cooking" alongside me.Great for pretend play!I also like that they are "generic" styled goods - orange juice, salt, sugar, rice, etc.No name brands being foisted on our young uns!

I imagine these will be a favorite in our household for quite some time.I also think they're fine for kids under 3; especially if your little one is starting to enjoy "pretend" play, as mine is.Safe, durable and a lot of fun! ... Read more

Dinner's on! A cute toy for budding chefs, this make-believe kitchen lets preschoolers pretend they're cooking along with mom and dad, and features a couple of chatty appliances: Bake the Oven, Zap the Microwave, and Mixy the Blender. Pressing the red buttons on the stovetop makes them talk ("Hey, Mixy--what's shakin'?" "I am!"), while Bake the Oven's eyes and mouth move. There's also a whole spread of plastic food and utensils, including a freshly baked pie, a slice of pizza, a sauté pan, and a pair of sunny-side-up eggs. Other elements include a tick-tocking timer and two attachable shelves. Included are three AA batteries. --Andy Boynton ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars More fun for adults than kids
I asked for this toy for my kids for Christmas because I have two other Playskool "like mommy's" toys.Mike the Mower, and Dusty the Vacuum. This looked GREAT on the shelf.I had a blast playing with it.When my then 2 year old and then 8 month old got it I was excited. As I write this they are 27 months and 13 months.Neither of them plays with this toy consistently, for very long, or every day.I will admit that the ages listed for this toy are 3-8 and my kids aren't that old, but my son mows with Mike and vacuum's with Dusty every time I do, so I took the chance.Out of respect for the ages listed I will put the kitchen and Bobby Q in the closet for a few months and see if my son likes them better after he turns 3!!Also, it is very small and both kids have to kneel to play with it, so it need to be on a shelf, and the pegs that are supposed to hold it upright constantly come off.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun and Space Friendly Too!
This toy is packed with fun.It isn't huge but plenty big enough to have a couple kids play at the same time..in fact my three play together with it.As some body else said..either sitting on the floor or popping it on a table is the way to go.Several neat little talking and sounds features and opening doors make this long lasting fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars My 3 year old loves it!
I had been hesitant to get this kitchen for my son. When looking at it in the store, the dialog didn't seem to have anything to do with what button you pushed.
Well, my son got it as a gift for his third birthday. He didn't even wait until it was completely unwrapped! He climbed up onto to table & started playing!
Once you flip the switch from "demo" to "play", this kitchen is wonderfully interactive! He just cracks up when it "cooks" eggs or pancakes! The toy doesn't know which item is actually being "cooked", but my son doesn't seem to care.
This is one toy that gets played with every day! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars way too small!!!
This toy looks good...but is so small! It should be bigger for the age range of 4 to 7 years.I am returning it.

5-0 out of 5 stars great grill!!
While looking for play food to "supply" our grill and kitchen, I thought I should let all know that this grill is great!I purchased this grill last christmas, and I can't think of a day that went by my 4 1/2 and 2 year old hasn't served up some barbecue cooking. It has withstood the roughest of play and we store all our plates, teapot and bowls inside. We also have the other green grill with the eyes (forgot his name) I picked up at a yard sale and this grill far outways the other that is too short and talks in the middle of the night if the cat walks by.
It is a great, sturdy grill that has never had the batteries replaced yet.If you promote a lot of pretend play in your home, this grill is worth every penny!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Perfect!!
I really like this toy for my son.We got it for his 2nd birthday along with a "playhouse" and a box of play food and utensiles.I wanted to get something he could pretend to cook on but didn't want to spend the money on a little kitchen. This is a nice size and has great sound effects for the flame.I love the bottom cabinet...you can store any play food or plates you may have in there.I think its a great alternative to a play kitchen if you don't have the room for one. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great price-great toy!
We purchased this for our daughter when she was 2- the other kitchen just seemed to have too many bells and whistles and cost more...kids can use their imagination with the gadgets! It also didn't take up alot of room like others did-it fits in corners nice too. The only problem we had with it was the phone on the side kept popping off- and eventually broke. The overall construction is good though- doesn't tip over as easily as others do. But overall-it was a nice kitchen for your money-

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice
We just bought this kitchen for our 2.5 year old for Christmas, and out of all the toys she received (including the Dora Talking House) this one she plays with the most.It took us a little time to put together, and I needed my husband's strength to push a few pieces into place, but once assembled it is very durable.
My only concern was the lack of a fridge, but she hasn't even noticed.I figure in the future if it really becomes a necessity, I can purchase a stand alone fridge like most of us have.
It is the perfect size for her and her friends to play at the same time, and will have many years of play ahead of it.The only drawback is that it does not come with too many cooking utensils and only one hot dog for food, so be prepared to buy a package of food and pots and pans to accompany, but since those items can be purchased for very little money, the kitchen is still a good choice and a good value for its size and durability.

5-0 out of 5 stars Daughter loves it, plays with is more than anything else
My daughter loves this stove and has used it for everything from pretend cooking to washing her baby dolls. She enjoys it the most out of all her toys. 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun
We've had this toy for four months and it has been played with quite a bit by our two preschoolers! However, the knife broke within the first week of use. The kids found a plastic play knife to use instead and don't seem to mind.

5-0 out of 5 stars my 20 month old son loves this toy
This set of little pieces of wooden food attached with velcro is endlessly interesting to my son, he plays with it at length and returns to it after other activities. We were somewhat concerned about the safety of hime using the wooden knife, but it seems blunt and curved enough to not be a danger.

4-0 out of 5 stars Finally, something healthy!!!!!
I have been on this site for almost an hour researching play food and a shopping cart for my little girl.We are getting this as her bday gift (no, we don't even own it yet!).However, looking through the play food sets really upset me.French fries, hot dogs, burgers, cookies....what kind of advertising is that to a child about what to eat?No ones perfect and I love my junk food, but come on really. Why does only one set (THIS ONE) actually offer something fresh and healthy. My daughter loves healthy food (I'm sure it will change)and I don't want her toys encouraging her otherwise...it's bad enough TV and other media push that on us.I was very perturbed w/ the other sets.I am going to purchase this set, I think that my only wish so far is that it included more of a variety of veggies and fruits.Hope that helps!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very happy, even after one year.
We are very happy with this toy & it's been more than a year since we bought this for our daughter. It's good quality & the fruits & veges look almost too real. It's a good way for your toddler to learn & appreciate these healthy food choices! And it makes an excellent toy to have if your kid has those cute toy kitchens or shopping carts.

5-0 out of 5 stars we have all!
all of us have seen a little child with fake fruit and one of those child sized shopping carts!. this is not the original fruit that came out in the early 1980's that was much nicer or the 80's repro fruit from the 90's but is a great runner up! trust me we all have also toched one of these fruits! usually the bannana or strawberrie! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Gracie loves it!
my almost 4 year old daughter Gracie, just received the kitchen last week and absolutely loves it.My husband assembled it, he said the instructions were very easy and clear.the only problem is that in the packaging of the item, a small plastic piece was broken off, the piece that makes the oven door click shut. Now that the item is out of stock, we have to wait to have the kitchen replaced with a new one in perfect condition.Gracie is unaffected by this though, she loves it, loves all the accessories. It's really a cute, big-girl kitchen for any Barbie fan.

4-0 out of 5 stars Brittney loves her Barbie kitchen!!!!!!!!!
This was one of my almost 3 daughters christmas gifts. It took awhile to put together, I had a rough time with one screw because it was very difficult to maneuver the screwdrive in that particular part, otherwise it went smoothly. My daughter loves the fact that"Barbie just calls her out of the blue", she plays with it and sits down for a snack or something and all of a sudden it is Barbie on the phone. She just had her birthday and it was fun for her to hear Barbie "telling her how much she likes birthday parties. Santa had his heart set on the disney kitchen, but is was out of stock, but we are pretty satisfied with his choice and most of all so is Brittney.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the best kitchen
I bought this toy for my almost 4-year old and 2-year old daughters. They wanted it so bad for Christmas, but hasn't been played with very much. It has a lot of screws and took a long time to put together...some of the screws were very difficult to get in, both because of tightness and because you can't manuever your hand and screwdriver around the toy itself. Once it was all together, it looked great, but the refrigerator doesn't exactly close right. Also, the sink comes out because it is not screwed down and doesn't snap in. I'm also just waiting for it to fall over, because it isn't very heavy, and I've seen it tip several times while my girls played with it. The food pieces are very sturdy plastic, but there aren't enough pieces. I think we'll end up using food from other toys that we have, just so there's enough to go around! There are only 2 plates and 2 cups, along with 2 sets of forks and spoons. Once my 3rd daughter grows up, I'm afraid she'll be left out! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars fun toy for playdoh lovers
I bought this toy for my 3 year old daughter who loves playdoh and she loved it ...but the stand that connects to the oven always falls off so we just turn it upside down and play with it that way because there are cool shapes on the underside you can smash playdoh into. overall it is a good playdoh toy for playdoh lovers..

5-0 out of 5 stars One Cool Toy!
I gave this Play-Doh set to my son today for his 4th birthday and he loves it!He spent close to 5 hours straight "cooking" and "making dinner" for my husband and I.It is a great toy and I highly recommend it for kids who like to spend time creating different "meals" and putting them together themselves.I think that it teaches to clean up when done or the play-doh dries out, to wash the dishes and it's just a lot of fun. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great quality learning toy that will last generations!
When you find food type items for your child they are either plastic or tiny paper packages that are damaged with mimimal play, not so with Melissa & Dog wooden toys! And it's only through play do our children learn about things they will do when they grow up.

The birthday cake is a huge hit in our home with our 28 month old daughter and I assume will only continue as she grows! Whats nice is that your child can create their very own cake creations. The Happy birthay round piece comes off so you can celebrate any reason to bake a cake and they even thought of adding lite birthday candles as well. There are jelly bean, strawberries and gum drops to decorate their cake creation. The cake is divided into pie shaped wedges and would also be perfect for discussing fractions later on down the road. Everything is held together with a nice sturdy velrco. A red plate and also cake cutter are also included and everything fits nicely into the wooden box and has a platic top that easily slides on and off for older children. This is a toy that will last though out the years and is definately worth every penny!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun with food
Most of Melissa & Doug toys are durable wooden toys but this set is not as durable as the others. We have had this toy for about three or four months and the red wooden serving platter has a number of marks on it.The other pieces are holding up much better. My girls still have tons of fun, but it is something to consider when buying this item.

5-0 out of 5 stars Favorite Christmas toy - girls ages 2 &4
I picked this out as a Christmas gift for my 2 girls (ages 2&4) after reading the other reviews.Everyday is a birthday around here (teddy, puppy, dolly, etc..), so this toy gets a lot of use.It has been out just about everyday since Christmas, and I'd say it's one of their favorites. It does make nice sounds, the quality is great, and the storage box is a plus. At first there were issues with "sharing" the toy, but lately they have split the cake in half first, then they decorate their own half !Great toy, fair price. ... Read more

Editorial Review

A fun learning toy for budding homemakers, this massive multipurpose unit is designed with electronic sensors that recognize the make-believe foods and housewares that accompany the set and respond affirmably with more than 50 different phrases. ("What a great cook!") A two-burner stovetop sits aside a sink and a cordless phone, handy for chatting with a friend. Above rests a shelf with a microwave oven, digital radio, and coffeemaker, while stationed below are a refrigerator, oven, and dishwasher. adjacent to this, swinging out from the kitchen base, is a laundry center complete with an ironing board situated atop a stackable washer and dryer, all equipped with appropriate sound effects. The toy is multilingual, able to speak in English, Spanish, or French. Included are 21 accessories such as a grilled cheese sandwich, a sauté pan, cups, plates, and silverware. In all it requires nine AA batteries, sold separately. --Andy Boynton ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Getting better all of the time
What a fun idea for a kitchen. My one year old got this for her birthday and I am sure that it will be a hit for years to come. Both of my girls (1 and 4) gat a kick out of this kitchen.

The baby loves to open and close the doors (which by the way are strong enough to handle her hanging from them)

The phone is so cute.It makes similar sounds to a real phone. What a great idea for kids who love to push the buttons on the real telephone.

The food is great! When you place it on the burner it talks to you about what you're "cooking."My 4 year old loves it and tells me that it is "magic."

The laundry center is a perfect add on because kids love to pretend to help with that too! There is a problem with the iron, though. It has 2 sensors under the handle that must be covered for it to make any noise. That's difficult even for my 4 year old to operate.

Overall this is a great toy.Well worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars VERY EDUCATIONAL
My little sister learned how to speak some thing in spanish and some in french boy am I jealous of her and her little toy.But besides it's a great toy.to the other comments the people speak slow too it's just that you don't know the language.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice kitchen, but could have more bells and whistles
I bought this kitchen for my 2 year old son because he loves to help in the kitchen and the laundry room. He has daily chores that he does and gets stickers for, so I thought he would love this kitchen. I looked at all the reviews and decided that this was the best one in the $100 range---still think it is. Seems durable, was easy to assemble (45 min), nice folding for storage, or just to use less space. Nice accessories included, great colors and cute stickers, phone works well, stove sounds are great, but a bit fussy. Love all the appliances that it has--lots to choose from.Colors are unisex---nice for boy helpers as well as girls.
But Little Tikes could have done so much more---maybe I should go into toy design. The iron sound button is very fussy---barely works really. The iron doesn't even fit into the iron holder--who did this?---duh?! The stove is also a bit fussy about recognizing when there is something interactive placed on it, and it is the only interactive part of the whole kitchen. The Spanish is spoken in Catalan dialect and is almost undecipherable and very fast. I can speak some Spanish, and live where it is widely spoken and was hoping my son would pick some of it up from this kitchen--NOT. French is fine, though a bit fast spoken. The sounds from the stove are just a bit garbled sounding overall. The microwave, oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, radio, fridge, water/ice server and overhead fan make no noise whatsoever---what a loss of oportunity. Would have been great if at least a couple of the other appliances were interactive too. I bought all 4 food packs for it and they are great, but I would like more accessories to be available, including pots to match the ones that came with the set...Also some storage cabinets for food and dishes would be great, especially since they could fit on the other side of the kitchen.
Generally very satisfied. Great toy that my son is enjoying. But would like to see more thought go into this interactive vein of toys.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little cooking set
My 3 year old daughter loves this set.And it is such a cute version of the real thing. She's got a little kitchen and so many other plastic pots and pans but this set really takes most of her playtime.
As for durability, I would say the pans are in great shape.Though, the spatula handle separated when my daughter decided to play "drums" with her pan and spatula. The utensils are not themselves "bendable" but quite sturdy except for the fact that the spoons and ladles MAY separate from their handles if used in cases such as above. And most kids love to bang these things around.
Each pan is about 9.5cm in diameter. The utensils are about 15cm long.
I definitely prefer these to the plastic vessels as they are close to the real things that kids go digging for in a regular kitchen cupboard.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok, but not great
This was given to my 3 year old 5 months ago.So far she has had a ton of fun with it.At this point, it is still in good condition. One day she will bend the utensils and then it will break. It is a great set if your child is gentle with their toys, if they are rough with their things don't get this set.

2-0 out of 5 stars Broke apart after a month of use
I bought this for my 3 yr old daughter for Christmas and the utensils broke apart at the handle which my child could have choked but she brought it to me. The pots are ok but the pan handles also broke off. I would not reccommend this toy at all. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Tea Set!
I have a 3 year old daughter and was looking for functional tea set that she could really use.We Love this tea set!It can hold real food and the tea pot holds water. It can be washed and seems to be durable. She eats snacks foods out of the little bowls every day!I noticed a lot of the tea sets make music or have stickers. We don't want pretend tea parties - we want real ones and this is perfect!

5-0 out of 5 stars a great set for cooking show performances
I bought this tea set because I've always loved them as a kid. It's a good price for the quality you get. I used it for my performance projects, where I do cooking shows and serve food on tea sets. Sometimes I also bring them to class pot-lucks, and everyone's forced to use them when they forget to bring paper plates. The only downside is that it's hard to take grease off of them, but that's because I like to serve real food on them. I have to wash it several times in hot water before the grease comes off. I don't know if the material is dish washer safe but I'd rather wash by hand than melt the entire set in the machine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!!!
I bought this set for my daughter (21 months old) after looking and looking for the 'perfect' tea set! While looking I realized that MANY of the tea sets for sell these days make noise. Now, don't get me wrong, I do love toys that make noise... but not EVERY toy needs to make noise.Especially not a teaset. My daughter loves to have tea parties with her stuffed animals and I LOVE that she is using her imagination while doing so (if it was making noise - she may not be using her imagination 'as much')!It seems to be very durable... her little brother (8 months old) has chewed on peices (although we do try to keep him from doing that) and crawled over them and they are still in perfect condition! Also, unlike some other teasets, these peices are all big enough that she can actually get some pretend food on them to serve during her 'tea parties'!Definitely the best tea set out there for any little princess! ...
