Editorial Review

Guess what! Dora the Explorer has jumped on the royal bandwagon! This intrepid explorer is now a fairy tale princess with magical hair that grows when the jewel in her crown is pressed with a wand. Dora talks and sings, too, in both English and Spanish: "Vamanos! Let's go to fairytale land! Will you brush my hair?" The 14-inch-tall plastic doll is not designed to be cuddled so much as played with and groomed. She is attired in a satiny yellow gown trimmed in pink and purple, and has a brush, barrettes, and magic wand. The magical tresses emerging from the hair-growing tube are quite realistic, although grownups, at least, might be a little unnerved at the sleek brown hair oozing in and out of Dora's head. Still, children are experts at suspending disbelief and accepting weirdness in the world, so they probably won't mind a bit. Four AA batteries required (included). --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not as happy as I thought!!!!
We bought this for our daughter Brittney (39 months), she wanted it so bad, then after a few days she just stopped playing with it. I don't think she's into the hair brushing and that sort of play just yet. She still loves dora's house, and her other dora dolls which include star catching dora, cowboy dora, buenas noched dora, magic surprise dora and some other ones.

5-0 out of 5 stars A review for my Sister
The first day my sister ever saw this item, she wanted it for her birthday, but she got it for Christmas. Thanks to our best friend, Pat, now living at Bethel Retirement Home. When my sister got this, she thought that Dora looked cute in the box. My sister really likes the song that Dora sings. One time, my sister combed Dora's hair too much and too hard. Then it didn't work. My father fixed it on the day he got batteries for my MindMania Spelling Clip. Last, my sister doesn't play with Dora oftenly. Dora uses 4 "AA" batteries (included.)- Cristian and Alejandra Mojica.

4-0 out of 5 stars 3 yr old likes maybe too much
Dora is still doing okay considering what she has been through since Christmas. Her pretty hair do was taken out of its rubber bands fairly quickly. She has gotten an unrequested hair cut, luckly not much was cut because I caught my daughter in the act.She gets played with somewhat often even by visiting children.I do sometimes have to take Dora away when the kids start fighting over her.She doesn't look as good as new anymore, but well loved. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Got after seeing the Dr. Phil Show ;0)
I just bought this for my 2 yr old son, after seeing the Dr. Phil show I thought it couldn't hurt to try his way ;0) I just got this doll and will start to potty train my son, so I am not sure if it will work yet or not. I hope so. But the doll, both my kids love, my 7 yr old daughter and my 2 yr old son. They both love to play with the doll.

As others have stated, it is a little hard for the little ones to feed the doll. You do have to push the cup or bottle in the mouth all the way or it will drip out. But my daughter has mastered that task now, my son still needs me to help feed the baby doll. I gave them an old baby bib of my sons to put around the doll's neck when they feed her, that way there isn't much to clean up if it does drip out.

The way the doll wont leak is what I love. She will not go potty until you sit her on the potty. That is great! No mess that way and that was well worth it for me. The little diaper they give you are on the cheap side, and hard to get on the doll. But the clothes are off the doll more than on with my kids.

I wish they had this doll in a boy though but this will work just fine I think. I would recommend this doll to anyone, very cute for all ages, esp' the potty training age ;0)

5-0 out of 5 stars what a great way to help potty training
This doll has a pretty, very cheerful face and works well.We put our own bib on her because she does leak while drinking (but it is only water). We also like the powder, and her clothes dry out quickly. My daughter loves this doll and dramatically improved in her own potty training. We clap and cheer for the doll and give her a sticker too.Easy way to make potty training more fun!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good at first, but then becomes annoying
I got this doll for my daughter when she first became interested in potty training, and it was good for demonstration purposes.

My problem with this doll is what others have stated:

1) It is too difficult for a young child to feed. You'll basically end up giving the paper her bottle and cup or you'll watch your child squirt water all over the place and then wonder why the doll doesn't have to go to the potty.

2) The diapers are a piece of junk, and your child won't be able to put it on, so that will be frustrating.

It's good to demonstrate the concept of going to the potty, but you and your child won't find it an effective toy, and it's really just taking up space now. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Dora the Explorer, "Nick Jr.'s" doe-eyed, Mexican sojourner, converses in Spanish and English as a doll as naturally as a cartoon. From simple, one-word translations to the "Happy Song," Dora speaks and sings using over 30, clearly pronounced, easy-to-learn words. She interacts with four included friends--a star, baby bird, butterfly and frog--who respond with movement, light and sound (via microchips) when placed in her right hand. Dora's body is designed to sit rather than stand (she has a very flat bum and solid posture), so she's actually built to be conversational. Just position her on the edge of a chair and the fun begins. If kids still need something to coddle, Dora has pliable extremities, and her pretty, brown hair can be combed. Her clothes, however, are not removable. Required: 4 "AA" batteries.--Diane Beall ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed!!!!
Half the time Dora doesn't even know what little friend she's holding ,that is if my daughter can find them!!! Most of the time Dora repeats her words over and over and over again like a broken record!! She is a huge Dora fan but has lost all interest in this toy. Wish I could get my money back.

4-0 out of 5 stars For Dora Fans
I bought this for my girlfriend's 3 year old and she absolutely loves it. She takes it with her to school every day. She already learned the little song that Dora sings and knows how to switch Dora's friends on the palm of her hand, herself. It's a good idea to keep Dora's friends always in your sight because once lost the doll will loose some of it's coolness. But I'm happy that I could make a 3 year old jump for joy. Great gift idea for a little Dora fan.

1-0 out of 5 stars This toy is a waste of money....do not buy it!
After opening this toy that Santa brought for my 3 year old (no small feat with the master degree holding packaging engineers securing each and every extremity and accessory piece with a wire), and playing with it for a few minutes, I immediately started to wonder why I couldn't get the toy to say the 30 phrases the box promised. My husband suggested that maybe there is a Spanish mode, but there is no "Spanish" button to be found.Additionally, I too thought for the price paid, the manufacturer could have included Dora's backpack to keep her "friends" in.
As another reviewer stated, I can only get the doll to say 8 phrases unless hola and adios count each as 1, then we're up to 10.
Furthermore, the weight of this doll, if launched, will surely break a window, dent a wood floor or cause a concussion in an innocent sibling standing by.
It should go without saying that this is going back as it doesn't do what is promised on the package. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The cutest little doll I have seen!!
My daughter just got this for her first birthday and it is ADORABLE!! From the reviews I didn't think she would be that great or that the items she comes with would be as big as they are. But she is THE BEST PLUSH DOLL OUT THERE!! The bassinett she comes with has built in pockets for the plush doll and blanket, bottle, diaper, and teddy bear. I cannot say enough good things about this toy. I also have a two year old who likes this baby doll. We are buying several to save as gifts for other little girls.

I purchased this for my neice. She loves it and plays with boots all the time she is 2 years old.

5-0 out of 5 stars Boots is in the house!
Our 3 year old daughter loves Boots. She talks to Boots and carries him around the house. We give it 5 stars for educational value because when she talks to Boots she acts out scenes from her Dora videos. This helps her alot with her speech skills and imagination. This is a very well made doll. We are also happy with it's size, it's just perfect for her. It's a great buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars My little Dora fan goes nuts for this!
When my daughter saw this in her birthday presents, she went nuts! It's her favorite toy and she carries around with her and goes on pretend adventures and the like. 2-0 out of 5 stars not worth the money
My 18 month old daughter received this as a gift and we've been completely unhappy with it.The basket comes off very easily and causes her to fall if she is leaning or pushing on it.The baby seat also comes off easily, but is difficult for a toddler to remove a baby doll from. This is very frustrating to our little girl. The accessories are very cute, but the overall product seems very poorly made.We bought the Little Tikes shopping cart and love it!

3-0 out of 5 stars not sturdy
My daughter thinks this toy is a lot of fun, but if she leans on it even a little the shopping basket falls off (and she falls too and gets hurt and angry). She wants to keep leaning on that basket when she puts food in, etc, and sometimes she wants to push it backwards. The doll is hard to get in the front basket, as the other reviewers said.Maybe this toy is better for older, more coordinated kids, age 2.5 plus???Despite the frustration, she still is facinated with it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly constructed
Although this toy looks cute and is good for imaginary play, it is very poorly constructed and can be dangerous. The base is flimsy, and the basket and high chair pop off too easily.Unfortunately my daughter was injured by this toy as a result--the basket popped off when she leaned on it; she fell forward and the basket hit her in the face (which bruised her nose and caused her tooth to cut into her lip). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars My daughter still loves it!
I bought this for my daughter when she was 12 mos old.Now she is 19 mos old and she still loves it!She pushes her baby around as well as toys, Elmo, books, etc.She has crashed it, run into things and her 5 year old brother has taken it on many indoor "races" through the house and it is still in like-new condition!I highly recommend this stroller. It's easy to put together. We haven't had any problems.

2-0 out of 5 stars Cute but Low quality

5-0 out of 5 stars "dolly" is the best thing since sliced bread!
Atleast in my daughters opinion! I think its great for kids to have "lovey" toys, and my 2 sets of twins all have them. My younger b/b twins have matching puppies, and my older (3 y. o.) b/g twins have a teddy and DOLLY! I have 3 of these dolls. My daughter CAN tell the difference though. I have had this doll since she was born, in the car, stroller, and recently she moved to Maddy's big girl bed. This doll is so pretty, she is soft too so a sleeping child can hug and love their baby doll. She is VERY easily spot cleaned, (trust me). She is also washing machine safe! (Shouldnt all toys? :) ). This doll is deffinatly my daughters favorite, and i have had a few "first dolls". Get this for your child too, they will love her! (But get extras, you will need them!) All in all this is a beautiful, soft doll that will deffinatly last for years to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars BABY!!!
My little girl got the precious baby doll for her 1st birthday and has not put it down yet.She takes it everywhere and screams if it has to go in the wash.I recommend buying 2 of the dolls since my dau. is only 18 months old and her doll is faded and stained from all the love it has recieved. This is the best doll she has.She plays with other dolls all day but "Baby" is the special one.

5-0 out of 5 stars I have 7 or 8 of them
My daughter loves this doll. It is her constant companion and comfort. She sucks on the hair -- who knows why?But since it's in her mouth constantly, I wash them constantly. They wash and dry very, very well in Woolite in the washing machine. The fabric has had everything imaginable on it, and it always comes completely clean -- except the area around the hair. After a few months, it does start to show drool stains (as another reveiwer noted), but I can't imagine what fabric wouldn't.So you have to replace Dolly every once in awhile, or ignore the stains.Fortunately, they're not terribly expensive, and they're readily available at lots of on-line stores, esp. Amazon.I'm pregnant with my second child, and I can't find any other "lovie"/doll that is a perfect as this one.I wish Eden made this particular doll in a different color!None of their other dolls compare.

5-0 out of 5 stars 3rd and going strong
we are on our third so soft baby girl doll for my daughter, the others got lost. We got the first one for my baby shower from my aunt and my daughter fell in love with it i then tried to get a spare just in case and couldn't find it anywhere and now that i found it i wish there was some kind of automatic shipper thatwould ship every 3-4 months :)

4-0 out of 5 stars Daughter's favorite "baby"
We bought this doll when we found out we were expecting a girl - my sister had one when she was a baby, so I bought it out of complete nostalgia. It is very soft and does not have a rattle inside like many soft dolls do.Because of this, we allowed my daughter to sleep with it at night - the ones with the rattles are so noisy once they learn to roll over, and would wake my daughter up.The only problem I have with this doll is that the material does not clean well --- it can be tossed in the washing machine, but if your baby totes the doll everywhere like my daughter, it can be very hard to get drool stains out.The doll does stay soft with washing though.Just do yourself a favor and buy two so that you can wash them often. ... Young caregivers can rock their babes to sleep in thisminiature cradle. Mounted to a sturdy, wooden base, the woven rattan- like sides are actually constructed of heavy-duty paper and cord.Measuring 15 inches long and 10 inches wide, the cradle doesn't take upmuch floor space, and it can accommodate a variety of dolls or stuffedfriends. Whenever freshly washed sheets are needed, remove the pink andwhite gingham bedding and pop it into the washer and dryer. --LaurenBernard. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great first cradle for toddlers to use
This is a good cradle for toddlers to use for their babies. It is a little flimsy, I completey agree, but my daughter has been using it since she was 15 months old (she's now 23 months old) and we haven't had a problem with it breaking. She's not a rough kid, though.

My complaints: the flimsiness of the cradle and the inside liner/sheet does not stay put, which is a problem when your little one keeps bringing it to you to reattach every couple of minutes. I finally had to use the glue gun to glue the sheet to the cradle so that the liner would stop coming out. This will be a problem if the sheet ever gets dirty and I have to wash it but that most likely won't happen unless something gets spilled in it. It's very cute, though, and my little one loves putting her dollies to bed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Mommy of 3 year old
I bought this almost a year ago for my daughter's third birthday. She loves to put her 'Hanna' down for her nap.(Her two year old brother does too.)It is not the kind of toy that entertains for more than a few minutes at a time, but it gets regular use.It is very cute.A little fragile, but as long as they are not standing in it, it should be fine.We have not had any trouble. She loves using the little pillow and blanket.A nice addition to a little girls room and bed time routine.

3-0 out of 5 stars Lots of potential but still a disappointment
Once again, a toy fails to "deliver" the promised fun and ease of use.The shower actually works, which was my main concern.I was pleasantly surprised that water did come through the nozzle. However, it is awkward for younger children and the tub is too short and the fish comes off far too easily. While the doll is well-made, it doesn't sit too well in the inflatable turtle. This is frustrating. Also, it would be nice if it had hair that could be washed,It's hard to lather a bald, plastic head.I'm keeping the toy because it's "somewhat fun" but it certainly doesn't deliver as promised or expected.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun Little Bath Doll
I bought this for my 3 year old daughter who loves baby dolls. Overall, she enjoys playing with the doll in the tub, washing it, and floating the doll in the little turtle float ring. But in my opinion, the shower feature on this toy is useless. You have to fill the fish toy with water, then connect it to the end of the water tube and squeeze, only to have about 2 tablespoons of water trickle out of the shower. You have to repeat this for each little trickle of water. It would be a lot better if the tube were connected to some kind of squeeze pump feature on the floaty toy (which I've seen before) which would make the shower easier to use and more fun. The doll itself is very durable. The body is filled with tiny plastic beads encased in a fabric lining, which makes for quick drying of the doll, and no mildew (which can be hard to avoid for bath toys). No water gets into the head as well which is also nice (and makes the doll float), so it is definitely well constructed, and seems as if it will be long lasting. Overall, it's a nice bathtub toy for doll lovers, and fun for my little one to practice her mommy skills on. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars This is an o.k. baby doll but not the best
Someone gave this to my daughter when she was close to a year old. She still has it, and she is 3...so it lasts through lots of play, but the person who said the rattle is too heavy is right! Also, I would not recommend this for small babies or even those who are under the age of 2 who are putting things in their mouths...I had to put it up for a while because of that, and then when she was older, it was much better for her.

2-0 out of 5 stars Owwww!
That is one hard rattle! And it really makes a knock when it hurts your baby's head! No lie, that thing is heavy and if they pick it up it will nail them.

Plus, I think the doll needs more stuffing or something. It's weird how it's head is empty and you just feel the plastic face.

I would say they should change the age range to begin at 12 months when a baby is less likely to hurt herself.

2-0 out of 5 stars Watch that Rattle!Way too heavy for this doll
We bought this for our infant at about 8 months old.I cannot tell you how many times that darn rattle hit her in the head.It isn't a "cuddly" doll at all.The rattle also unbalances the doll making it hard to hold.Cute doll overall, but they should get rid of that rattle or possibly replace it with a soft-side style rattle - not that hard 5 lb. rattle. You may be better off getting the gund "first baby" it is soft all over.

5-0 out of 5 stars doll armoire
This armoire was bought for my daughter for her American Girl clothes. The trunks from them are too expensive and this one matched the doll bed set (the one for $164) perfectly. It holds alot of clothes and the bottom is deep (the drawers that are shown in front is only for show, there aren't any drawers) hence the deepness. She uses them for shoes and boots or hats, etc.It seems pretty sturdy too. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars very excited
i bought this item for my daughters b day and is absolutelly adorable. i read the one review that it had received but decited to get it anyways because it mached with the badger crib which is awsome. well the stroller is pretty sturdy the basket is not super strong but is for dolls. my 3 year old and one year old love this toy is been a great buy and is a great toy for the money.

2-0 out of 5 stars Cute, but poorly made
I bought this for my daughter, who was 3 last Christmas.I was very disappointed when opened the box. It's made out of paper, and is not very durable at all...definitely not for active little girls! The bottom of the basket is made out of cardboard. The paper basket bends and gets holes in it very easlily. It is also very difficult to maneuver. The plastic wheels make it hard to turn without the whole thing turning over!We had to throw it away because it had fallen apart.Very cute for a doll collector, maybe, but not sturdy enough to be a child's toy. We're looking for another stroller this year...save your money and buy one that will last! ... Editorial Review

Perfect as a first baby doll for a little girl, this version of the Annabell doll is greatly simplified from the others. She doesn't suck on a bottle; make gurgling, burping, or snoring sounds; or detect motion. What she does do is rely on toddlers to imagine what her current needs are and fulfill them. Annabell has molded plastic hands, feet, and head with realistic features and a soft, fabric body so she is still cuddly enough to sleep with. She comes wearing cozy white terrycloth pajamas and a hat, which children can remove to practice dressing and undressing, and holding a matching terry rattle. For toddlers who are expecting a new sibling, Annabell is a great "trial run" baby. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars We LOVE it!
This little Baby Annabell doll is so precious. My mother got it for my daughter as a 3rd birthday gift and she just loves to play with her and take care of her. In my opinion, she's much better than the "original" Baby Annabell because of the fact that she doesn't make noise. I think this helps develop a better sense of imagination... too many noisy toys out there anyways. It just seems like everything has to light up or make noise. Anyway, I think this is a great toy and a great gift for a toddler. She's provide hours of fun for my little one :o)

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Baby Annabel doll
This is the first doll I have bought probably in 15 years and I bought it for my 3 year old granddaughter and she loves it. It is the right size for her to carry around and take care of. We have to tell her the baby needs a nap so she will put it down so she can eat or when she goes home. She likes to take everything home and grandma has to refurnish toys, so this strategy has worked wonderful. Now we are working on the accessories.

1-0 out of 5 stars NOT like Baby Annabell!
If your child is familiar with the Baby Annabell doll, DO NOT buy this doll instead! This doll is cute, but does NOTHING.It doesn't take batteries. It's just a cuddly doll, which is fine if that's what you want, but if your daughter wants a Baby Annabell (who laughs and cries and sucks on her bottle) than this doll will be a HUGE dissapointment. Her eyes don't even close and she doesn't even come with a bottle. She's a nice size for a smaller child and has a cute face, but that's about it! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Suzy's Zoo A Great Buy
As an educator and mother of a toddler, I found that Suzy's Zoo to be very educational and an attention holder. My 20 month old daughter really enjoys placing the cards on the correct object and repeating the names of the pictures. This game is helping my daughter to name objects instead of just pointing to them. ...
