5-0 out of 5 stars Great Toy for preschoolers
My 3 year old daughter loves this game. The barking dog house is too cute.It does have some educational value with learning colors, green, red, yellow, & blue and also counting to 3.It has some good memory skill building as well b/c you need to remember where your color bones are if another player finds them. This is just a good fun family game.It is also a pretty quick game so it keeps the attention of younger children.I think the age range of 7 and up is a bit high.I would recommend it for preschoolers!!!!!! ... Designed for competitive or cooperative play, Go Away Monsteris a delightful game for pre-school-age children. It gives them powerover fears they might have as they "rid their rooms" of scary monsters.By providing each of up to four players with his or her own playingboard--designed to look like a child's room--the game cunningly avoidspotential squabbles over sharing. Players take turns reaching into a"monster bag" and feeling for pieces of furniture needed for theirrooms. If they pull out a monster instead, they can hide it or throw itaway while shouting "Go away, monster!" Players may help one another orcompete to finish their rooms first. --Lee Strucker ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great entry game for very young kids!
I learned about it on reading many reviews at boardgamegeek.com, which is the best resource for reliable reviews of board games for kids as well as adults.Sure enough, my 2.5 year old son loves this game!I suggest hamming it up w/ much fear/consternation at the appearance of a monster. This adds to the mystery & excitement upon drawing each piece from the bag.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great first game for kids!
We bought this game for our son for Christmas and he loves it.It has really taught him how to take turns and cooperate with his sister when playing a game.It is also a lot of fun for him.Our son is has mild autism and the visuals of this game make it easy for him to learn and follow.

5-0 out of 5 stars Go Away, Monster! is a great game!!
Our son, who is now 3 1/2, has been playing this game since he was 2 years old.It is so easy to learn. The play is so quick that it holds the attention of a 2 year old. It's just like the "grow-up" games with playing boards and pieces.Everyone with young children should own this game!! ... Read more

Each picture card contains two fruit pictures, set up side-by-side, domino-style. The name of the fruit is printed below the picture. Players take turns laying down their cards by matching a picture on one of their cards to an "open end" of one of the cards already played. If a player cannot play during a turn, she must draw a card from a face-down pile. If a matching card is picked, she plays that card. If a nonmatching card is picked, she must keep the card and her turn is over. The first player to place all her picture cards wins. Contains 28 picture domino cards and instructions. --Alison Golder ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't get enough !
I bought this game for my almost 3 year old son. There are not many games out there for kids that young. This is a great game because it teaches him different fruits and how to identify them. He was playing and matching all the fruits the first day we had the game ! He can't get enough ! I highly recommend this game !

5-0 out of 5 stars We LOVE this game!
I am Mommy to 23 month old twin girls, both with slight speech delays. We got this for Christmas last year, but just took it out a few weeks ago.I am proud to say they can both identify all of the fruits and name them back to me correctly! This has been a great tool fo rme to help them get to talking more.We don't really "play" the game yet, but we have learned fruit names and colors, as well as matching, from the cards!

The cardboard is a bit flimsy, but then again my girls are a bit young and may just me hard on things.I HIGHLY recommend this!I can't wait until they can play it by the rules - it will be so much fun for our WHOLE family!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the youngsters
I bought this game for my toddler. He is only 2 and a half. There are not many games out there for kids that young. This is a great game because it teaches him different fruits and how to identify them. Then, as he gets older, he can learn how to match them. The pieces are thick and durable---even after he put half of them in his mouth!
I highly recommend this game.I am going to buy the other titles in the series (the animal matching and others). ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Spinning Wishes
This game is great.I work with preschoolers as a speech pathologist, and for kids close to or over age 5, it's fun to play.Even the boys enjoy it.I think the people who are looking for some kind of educational value to this game have their expectations set a little too high--this is just for fun!The most difficult part is the spinner, as it does fly off the board, but not really a big deal.Once the kids figure out how to move it, it hardly occurs.Just touch it gently on the side; trying to put your fingers in the holes designated for the objects doesn't work too well.Overall, it's a fun game for the current princess craze, and my preschoolers love it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Keeps a little girl's interest
I usually go for a game with more educational value but, like many little girls, my daughter loves the princesses. The spinner can be a pain in the butt sometimes with spinning right off the board, but eventually you'll get it.When you first read the directions, they are a little much for a children's game, you will probably have to play the whole game while reading the directions to fully understand what's going on.But, girls love to play it and it keeps their interest with the rolling, spinning, and finding the present at the end.I would recommend it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not a game that's fun for the whole family
If you are looking for a game parents and preschoolers (3+) can enjoy together, this is NOT it. It caught my four-year-old daughter's eye in the store because of the Disney princesses, of course. Assembling the game the first time and trying to figure out the rules was quite a process. The spinner doesn't work very well. Aside from rolling the die and counting 1 to 6, this game has little educational value.

In fairness, my daughter does seem to like playing the game, but I think it's only because of Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty & Belle.

I have always been a big fan of boardgames and am so glad my daughter can now play them. We both get a kick out of Chutes & Ladders, Sequence for Kids, Barnyard Bingo, Candyland, etc. But I have found little enjoyment in playing Spinning Wishes with her. ... Read more

Cadaco has something cool up its sleeve. This nifty set furnishes young magicians with a bag of10 tricks, including the Crystal Box Illusion, the Block through the Wand, and the Stuffed Animal from theHat.The how-to booklet provides clear and detailed instructions on these deceptions and other tricks withcards, balls, boxes and tubes.Kids will love being in on the secrets behind these illusions, and theyprobably won't want to share the mysteries with either siblings or friends. Carrying the tricks offseamlessly will take lots of practice, but this set should get kids off to a good start in understanding andperforming magic acts. Pieces are made of cardboard or plastic. Some elements needed for the tricks(candy, a stuffed animal) are not included. --Wendy Slotboom ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A wand is NOT a sword
I guess I forgot that in today's society children tend to think of fighting instead of the wonders of magic.
I bought this for my 5 year old grandson. The first thing he did was put on the hat and grab the wand and start charging with his sword ... eeks ...I had to remind him that Harry Potter would never use his wand as a sword ... that it is only to be used for magic.I would have said David Copperfield to him but he would have said ... Who ??
I'm sure it won't last long as it is a bunch of cardboard. What do you expect from a 5 year old.Butttttttttt...It gave some quality time between father and son as he had to spend time with him to figure out the tricks. So what if the toy doesn't last forever, the memory of daddy doing magic tricks with him will.

1-0 out of 5 stars Trash it!
This item stinks! One of the hat tricks doesn't work right and most of the other tricks are so lame that both my four year old and six year old think it's stupid. There is always one Christmas toy that makes its way to the trash...and this is the one.Even if they used it I'm sure it would make it's way to the trash as the hat insert and some of the cardboard props dent and rip very easily.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Beginners
This is a great little starter set for anyone who wants to get started in Magic. This set has a variety of tricks to keep both you and your audience on their toe. Some of the tricks can be performed with just a littlepractice. But there are some that you need to work with for a while beforeyou present them to your audience.

This set includes: Trading Places; aCard trick, Square Circle, Crystal Box Illusion, X-Ray Color Vision Box,Stuffed Animal from Hat, Candy from Empty Hat, Monte Rabbit Cards, BlockThrough Wand, Color Changing Balls, Wand from Tube, and Wonder Balls.

AllProps are plastic or cardboard. The only drawback is that the cardboarditems will wear out quicker with a lot of use.Over all this is aWonderful way to get your introduction to Fun World of Magic. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Nice
If you buy this for a Holiday and the next year the girl will be turning 9 I would not buy this toy. Say you buy this for Christmas and your daughter is 8 years old the next year she will be 9 and she will hate this toy! I got this when I was 8 but I only played with it for 2 months! I already stuffed it in the bottom of my toy chest!!

This is a really boring toy. I fyou still like babrbie this may be fun, but when you grow up you will hate this toy!! I recomend this to 4 year old trough 8. This toy is so boring (if u r older than 8)

2-0 out of 5 stars TOO HARD TO DO
This was the number one toy my 5.5 yr old daughter wanted for Easter. She loves playing with Mommy and Daddy's PDA and this was to be one of her own.The new color one might be better as the Barbie Black and White is too hard to see and not much fun to color. (Hmmm, shall this be black or...white?) It was also very difficult to figure out what the games were. I got her the Dino cartridge, which she did play with, but since the second day, it's been on the bottom of the toy box. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Dora's on her way to abuela's house for a family fiesta and it's up to your favorite preschooler to get her there in this fun and simple Colorforms game. As the title suggests, the game is big (measuring 26 by 36 inches) and easy (simple rules are easy to follow, leading to little frustration). As the title implies, this is a game best played by preschoolers who get the opportunity to learn about how to play board games while hanging out with Dora, the star of the wildly popular Dora the Explorer series. Along the way, skills such as counting and color matching are reinforced. Just as in the series, the game offers subtle lessons in Spanish. The game also includes 24 Colorforms that are compatible with other Colorforms sets. --John Moe ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Dora the explorer game
This game was a great idea, but the pieces were poorly constructed. Like most of the previous reviewers, I could not get the characters to stand up on the crinkly game board. Another problem is that the spinner will not spin for one complete revolution. The game ends up being frustrating.

1-0 out of 5 stars Garbage
This is one of the sorriest excuses for a game I have encountered in a long time.

The Colorforms exhibit their perennial magic/misery of only sort of sticking to the substrate. While annoying in the conventional, recumbent, Colorform context, this failing is fatal in this game in which the Colorform surface is vertical. And yes, I know that the surfaces can be cleaned so that the Colorforms will stick for a while before they get dusty again, but these failed to stick well even when brand new.

The plastic character bases are not substantive enough to keep the cardboard characters from tipping over at the slightest provocation.

The game play is nonsensical.Perhaps the most objectionable aspect is that it is not clear whether taking an item from the backpack card is a requirement to or a reward for arriving at one of the scene spaces. When playing the game using the spinner colors, it is unclear how to even arrive at a scene space since the scenes have no associated colors.Does passing over a scene space count as entering the scene?

The dark Forest is as mysterious in the game play as it is allegorically. The instructions say "When a player enters the Forest to find his/her `lost' items, he/she must collect the flashlight Stick-Ons item to help see through the dark Forest".This suggests that there is some way to collect a flashlight independently of merely arriving at the dark Forest, but since no elaboration is provided and based on the previously mentioned conflation between reward and requirement, there is, presumably, no way to obtain a flashlight other than by finding oneself in the situation in which one is needed.Confusing enough, but then the instructions say "Players only need to collect the flashlight once, even if they have to go back to the Forest more than once."Why is a flashlight even needed if it is collected contemporaneously with the circumstance requiring its possession?

The "giant" floor mat can not be made to lie flat. The folds provide provocation far in excess of the slight amount required to tip the characters over.Maybe, if it is left deployed for long enough, the mat's variegations will abate, but this is a sufficiently unlikely scenario given the abysmal game play that I consider it irremediable.

Each of these failings, on its own, is bad enough. The synergistic combination ensures that this game will quickly make its way to the trash heap whilst squandering any goodwill which parents may have harbored towards Colorforms, Viacom International, Nick Jr. or Dora the Explorer.Lest I give the impression that this game is entirely without merit, I appreciated the colorful graphics prominently displaying the names ofthe entities towards whom any ill will ought to be directed.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dora The Explorer Big Easy Colorforms Game
We purchased the Big Easy Game (Dora the Explorer) for our 3 1/2 year old son.The box advertises that it's for Ages 3 and up and NO READING REQUIRED.This game is poorly designed and a complete waste of money. My 3 1/2 year old within 5 minutes ask us to return the game to Target because It was "YUKEY".

The 10 sq ft giant floor mat won't lay flat - therefore the cardboard figures won't stand up. A cardboard game board would have been a lot better.

The stickers won't stay on the figures. The rules of the game arenot easy to understand. We were very disappointed in this product.

My granddaughter loves anything, as long as it's Bratz. I bought this for her this Christmas. She was thrilled with it and sat and played it for hours. I found it had some good points and some bad.First the bad.It isn't made well, the legs kept falling off while she was playing the game and that was quite frustrating and it was smaller than it looked, and not very durable. However, it was very colorful and the little Bratz figures that you place on the side are a nice touch. My granddaughter didn't seem to mind the little things that I saw wrong with it, so I suppose that is what matters in the end. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars MY DAUGHTER LOVES THIS GAME!!
I bought this game for my 4-year-old daughter, since she is such a big My Little Pony fan...and it was an instant hit! While I agree that many of the ponies look very similar, one could argue that it encourages children to pay attention to small differences, be more discerning. The downside (?) is that this thing has about a million little pony cards....which could mean that this game could go on forever....!!Just kidding, it's a great inexpensive toy for friends of the ponies.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too many purple ponies
We received this game as a gift and discovered that this version of Memory is different from the original in one very important and disappointing way. While there are as many cards as the original version, the vast majority of the cards look the same:pink, purple, and pale blue ponies with slight variations in the colors of the manes. There are a few other objects, such as ladybugs, flowers, and butterflies, but there are also near-duplicates of each of those. For example, there is one ladybug pair with a bit of pink gingham background, and then another pair with the same ladybug and a pale green gingham background.Overall, the amount of similarity between the cards makes this an extremely difficult and tiresome game for all but the most devoted (and knowledgable) fans of My Little Pony. This version tips the balance between game and marketing gimmick, and the game loses out to an advertising ploy directed at toddlers and preschoolers.I'd highly recommend the original version instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cute game w/lots of cards!
This game is just your basic memory card game with pictuers of ponies and butterflys to match. In my opinion there are just too many cards to lay them all out at once,so you may want to pick some of the matches out and not use every single card. The upside to this is that if some get lost you still have plenty left to keep playing. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Great for Nemo fans, but better for older kids
I bought this for my almost-3 year old daughter b/c she loves 'finding nemo'. The way we play memory with her is we take out about 10-12 cards and play a game with those, as obviously playing with all the cards would make the game too difficult and not enjoyable. But my main complaint about this particular version is that a lot of the cards look very similar but are subtley different. For instance, there are about 4 different variations of a Nemo card. So I would recommend this set to a slightly older child and pick a simpler set, where all of the cards are markedly different (like the Disney themed set, which we also have) for the 3 year old crowd. Otherwise, my daughter loves it as all children this age seem to love playing Memory. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Ideal game for 3-4 year old
My six year old son received this game as a Christmas gift.I played it with him a couple of times while my three year old son was leaning over my shoulder.Later, I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that my six year old son had taught the three year old to play the game, within a very short time.I am very impressed with the Spelling Bee Bingo game because it teaches the alphabet in a nonsystematic way. It's a game we all play now (including my husband) and are thoroughly enjoying it.

Like most board games the box is falling apart; putting pieces of scotch tape around the edges even before you start your first game is advisable. It will help to prevent the box from falling apart, and thus ensure that the small pieces don't get lost.

My 2 1/2 year old son was enjoying playing this game with his older cousins.I've been teaching him his alphabet and it really showed me how many letters he really did know. The 4 year old cousin enjoyed a spelling and letter recognitation also. The 7 year old cousin enjoyed the spelling and playing with his cousin and brother.
