5-0 out of 5 stars What color you going to have, Daddy?
This card game is my 4.5 year old daughter's current favorite game and has been for a couple of weeks now.She could play this many, many times a day. We'll never know how many unless she takes it upon herself to play a 1-player version -- my wife and I take turns playing with her. This game does not focus on the characters in the Dora universe; rather, you need to find objects that might appear in Dora stories (star, book, boat, flute, binoculars, maracas, etc.).Each player has their own backpack card which shows which other cards you will need to get; each different colored backpack requires a different set of items to be found.A good thing about this game is that a "hand" goes by pretty quickly, so you can play for only a short time and then your child may agree to stop. Also, it is obviously quite portable.Dora fans may be disappointed that there's no Boots, Swiper, et. al.On the other hand, your child need not be "into" Dora to appreciate the anticipation of drawing a desired card. Not highly educational although matching skills get exercised, and my daughter was motivated to learn to pronounce "binoculars" (she used to say "binocky-oars", which is neither here nor there but I could hardly leave it out). You can use a little strategy but it is mostly a game of luck. ... Editorial Review

Candy Land comes to life in this electronic game for young kids. Six games of varying degrees of complexity are included: the simplest challenges kids to catch falling plums in a basket, and the hardest has players looking for matching gum drops beneath rows of peanut brittle. Other games ask kids to repeat sequences of flashing lights or to count the number of visible lollipops on the game's screen. Candy Land character Mr. Mint leads players through all the fun, helping them develop skills in counting, sorting, etc. Youngsters who don't have any preconceived ideas that this game could be hard should have no problem figuring it all out very quickly. --Tom Keogh ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Wish it had a good volume control...
as it's not something to take in the car unless you have a very quiet one!

I bought this for my son, and it doesn't hold his attention very well. The screen is quite small, so I wouldn't recommend it if you have a child with visual problems.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not good for 4 yr old
I was very disappointed with this product. My daughter often finds the devise too hard to operate and the games are too easy.
As a result, it didn't hold her interest for very long. She is 4 yrs old and is used to operating video games, computer games, etc...but this game is more annoying to try to play than it is fun.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
I bought this for my 4-year-old who is now almost five - neither of us are too "dumb", I have a grad degree and she's starting read - and neither of us can figure this thing out!!!:)If we get it to play the game she wants, it's purely by accident.Audio doesn't even sound like a real voice - very difficult to understand, video is too small to see very well.I don't think it's a game a child could figure out independently until they are 7 or 8 and I get too frustrated with the thing to help her out. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Cards separated into two pieces.
I happened to purchase two memory games at the same time. The Blues Clues version is not durable at all.The cards were separating into two pieces (front coming off back) as I was assembling the game (basically, punching the cards out of cardboard as is typical with this type of game).Over time, more cards have fallen apart when we play.

The colors are light and difficult to distinguish at night. Some of the cards are virtually identical except for a faint, small item in the picture.

My son loves the characters but was disappointed Steve isn't represented.(The new character Joe is featured in this game.)

Since we have the Toy Story II Memory Game too, we play that instead. The Blues Clues game will go to charity.

5-0 out of 5 stars We Love It! Great Memory Game (Even for Adults!)
I just bought this game a few weeks ago for my son's 6th birthday...and we love it!

This game comes with 72 colorful cards of sturdy cardboard base, a plastic tray, and instructions. For younger children, you don't *have* to use all 72 cards.

This is a great game to improve memory, even for adults. While some pictures are straightforward (Tickety Tock, Purple Kangaroo, Side Table Drawer, the blue pawprint, Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper, Cinnamon, etc.), there are some tricky cards. For example, you'll have a card with Blue gazing at a butterfly, as well as Blue gazing at a caterpillar. Then you'll have a card with Blue painting a spider, and another where Blue is painting the sun. Or Joe with a blue shirt, and Joe with an orange shirt.

I suprised at how much *I* get a kick out of it--and my son and husband enjoy it as well! ... Read more

Pooh fans can enjoy this great memory builder alone or with friends. There are 72 honey potcards (36 matching pairs) with colorful illustrations of our favorite characters from the Winnie-the-Pooh books on the flip side. The cardsare spread out with the honey pot side up. Players take turns flipping over two cards. Can you find twoidentical pictures of Pooh hiking, Piglet sailing, or Owl roasting marshmallows? If there's a match, thatplayer takes the cards and flips again. Try to remember which cards have been exposed for future matches.Play alternates until all of the tokens are gone. 1-0 out of 5 stars Skip It
I bought this game at a yard sale (...).I was not worth it.The cards all look the same (Pooh bear with a fishing pole, Pooh with a golf club, ect).It is very hard to tell the cards apart.I would skip this one and buy another memory game.

3-0 out of 5 stars Go with the "Original" memory game
This is a cute idea, but frankly the pictures are far too similar for a pre-schooler just starting out.Go with the original Memory game and call it a day.

1-0 out of 5 stars Box of Cards

2-0 out of 5 stars A Suction Cup? Please!
They need to revise this game - the idea is good, but the suction cup ruins all the fun! It is hard to catch any fish on that cup, which is also very small. We had to moisten the darn thing to get anything stuck on it, and even then it takes some pressure to get a fish hooked. Returning it back to the store.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun toy for the kids
My two boys, ages 2 and 4, really enjoyed this puzzle/toy.They loved using the magnetic fishing net to pull the pieces off the board. The only downside, like all puzzle-type toys, is you've got to keep track of all the pieces.

3-0 out of 5 stars Only worked after modification...
We bought this for my 2 year old son, who loves bugs, while on vacation. He loved it, but the magnet that was attached to the "bug catching net" was not strong enough to pick up most of the bugs.I did not want to return it, since he loved it so much, so Dad attached another stronger magnet, which fixed the problem.I plan to call the 800 number for Melissa and Doug toys, since they encourage feedback about their products.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Toy
Summer is the best time of year to observe insects at work--but this top notch puzzle keeps children learning about insects all year long. Fun to play with, a great learning tool, well made. This game is designed to help preschoolers develop memory and matching skills. It's a simple game that can be enjoyed alone or by up to four players. Each of the 48 picture cards has an animal illustration. Cards are placed face-down and players take turns overturning two cards. If the animal pictures on the cards match, that player keeps those cards and continues to reveal picture cards, two at a time, until the cards don't match. Play continues until all picture cards have been matched up. The player with the most matching pairs at the end of the game wins. --Alison Golder ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Do You Know What a Dromedary IS?
Do You Know What a Dromedary IS?Well, I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I didn't know what one was until my son received the "My First Brain Quest: Animal Matching" game for his 2nd birthday.

"My First Brain Quest: Animal Matching" game is recommended for children 2 to 5 years old.I?d say it?s more appropriate for children that are 3 and 4-years old.In my experience, 2-year olds don?t have the patience to sit, and wait to take turns, and 5-year olds would be bored. The concept is excellent? using your memory to match pairs; however, I wonder why this particular animal menagerie was selected.Considering the game is targeted at 2-year olds, wouldn?t it make more sense to focus on common creatures seen in zoos, as opposed to exotics?I?ve never seen a dromedary, and I think it?s expecting a lot from a 2-year old to compare, and contrast one to a camel.

When William received this game he wasn?t developmentally ready to play it as intended, so we talked about the animals. We discussed where they live, and the sounds they make. Some of the pictures confused him; as a result, I separated them to avoid frustration. The images on the cards are full-color illustrations rather than photographs.I?ve noticed that toddlers seem to retain information better when realistic images are used in books and in games.I wouldn?t call the images animated, but they are stylized. These pictures do resemble their real-life counterparts, although some have more of a creative twist than others.

Now that William?s 3-years old we can play the game. He?s learned how to distinguish between the animals, and how to focus so he remembers the placement of the cards. He?s also learning how to be patience, and how to take turns. He sometimes gets excited, and takes a turn out of order, but that?s to be expected.William likes the ?animal game,? as he calls it, and mommy fancies the time together with her son.Mommy also loves the broad smile that spreads across her sons face when he matches a pair."My First Brain Quest: Animal Matching" game is educational and rewards achievement; consequently, it?s a winner in my book.

Happy Playing,
Mary

5-0 out of 5 stars Brain Quest Animal Matching
This is an excellent and fun game for my 2 1/2 year old, my husband, and me to play.It is also a game that I haven't grown tired of (which is important...as I'm sure you'll agree). This game reinforces vocabulary (24 different animals), taking turns, and consentration (you must pay attention to be able to make a match).I would recommend this game for young children. My son wants to play it every day and hasn't grown tired of it in the month that we've owned it (nor have I).We also own the Brain Quest Lotto game, which is fun as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE Brain Quest!!
Brain Quest does it again! My older daughter has the decks, and my 2 year old son got this for his birthday. We don't turn the cards face down to play (as the instructions say), but lay them out face up so he can pick out the matching cards to be put back in the box.He loves seeing and naming the different animals. When he doesn't want to play this way, he enjoys dumping the box out just to watch the cards fall. It's one of the few things with a bunch of pieces that I don't mind having around!Gave it a 4 for durability, just because the cards are made of paperboard and can easily be lost or ruined. But this is a great "toy," and I will be looking at the other preschool Brain Quests for him, too. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun for the price!
I bought this for my 3 yr. old son and he LOVES it. The price is really low for such a big toy/game. It does have a lot of pieces, and you need all of them to play, so dont lose anything. We have had it for 6 months and this is bar far still his favorite game. I would not hesitate to give this to any child between the ages of 3-8. Older kids would like it too as it involves knocking people off the ship.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beg to differ with other reviews
My son received this game for his 5th Birthday.Since then, the entire family has played numerous times, including our 9 year old daughter. They really enjoy playing it and trying to throw each other overboard. It took my son a little bit of time to understand where to place the weighted captain to cause the most amount of damage to other players, but they really delight in throwing mom and dad overboard.I would recommend this game as a family fun time thing. Its not hard to put together.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's not as bad as others think
I had to write a review for this after reading the one posted. This game isn't all that bad or difficult to put together. This was a Christmas gift given to our 5&6 year old sons last year (4&5 at the time) and they still enjoy playing it. They are able to put the game together themselves to play (we leave the bulk of it together, adding only the mast and base at game time). It is a game they can play together or one which we can play as a family. I could see where an older child might get bored with it quickly but we enjoy it, as long as the 2 1/2 year hurricane in our house doesn't sink the ship! We have seen this in our local store at the clearance price; you might check that and save the shipping. ... Read more

The winner of an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal Award, Make ItUp answers those probing questions about how something is made orwhat it's made up of. Each of the 18 sturdy cardboard story cards holdsillustrations of five or more related items, with the center itemlocated on a punch-out oval section. The game can be played alone orwith one or two others, and the goal is to match each oval tile with itsproper story card. This portable pad teaches barnyard animal shapes and sounds and provides some musical fun as well. Measuring about 2.5 feet by 2.5 feet, the pad folds out for some foot-stomping fun. There are four games to play: an animal identification game, a memory game, and two music games. Farmer Jed leads the gameplay and calls out instructions in a twang that's accompanied by some countrified, banjolike music. All the games are played by stepping on parts of the mat or dancing on it as the instructions direct. This game could be great for large motor skills and coordination. Any of the four games are chosen via a console that doubles as a carrying handle, allowing the game to be cleverly folded up for travel. Three AAA batteries are required (not included). --M. The Wiggles are off to a party in this simple and highly amusing game for very young players. Each player chooses one of the four optimistic Aussies as they gather the five essential ingredients for a great party: food, presents, balloons, music, and friends. No reading is necessary to enjoy the game since the outcome of any given turn is shown with graphics on a spinner (lose a turn is the only negative outcome offered out of six). Young kids who love the silliness and infectious energy of The Wiggles will likely have a great time learning how to play board games. Older kids, naturally, will be bored beyond belief. But there are plenty of complex games out there to keep big brothers and sisters busy and this is a chance for little ones to throw a big wiggly party. --Charlie Williams ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A fun Wiggle Time!
My daughter is a big fan of the Wiggles. This a great game and the Colorforms pieces make it a plus! This is one of her first games because she is just starting to be at that age, where sitting down and playing a game is a possibility.About 6 months ago, she would never sit still.
Now, she loves games and this one is her favorite. It's pretty fun for mom to play too, not like boring Candyland!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it!3 out of 3 kids didn't like it!
My mom bought two of these, one for my child and another to have at her house for all the grandkids. We are all really big Wiggle fans so thought this would be a big hit with the kids.
We opened up mine for my 3years, 4,5 year old cousins.None of them could get into it.Grandmom decided to return hers to the store before opening it up.
I gave this a few times to my daughter to play with and really showed no interest in it.The last occasion that I gave it to her she looked at it and said "this is stupid".So that was the last of that!
But we are so glad to see other Wiggles merchandise on its way and for now will keep on Wiggling!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Starter Game!!
This is the first game that we have ever bought our 3 year old and she LOVES it!! Of course, being a big Wiggle fan, who wouldn't it?! The game is easy to play and has taught my daughter alot about taking turns and how to be a good sport. The only reason I gave it four stars for durability and not five is because I think eventually the colorform stickers will lose their sticking power!
