5-0 out of 5 stars A Thinking Game
I work with children from preschool to high school, and kids from 3rd grade up LOVE this game.Even when they aren't good at it, it becomes addictive. It is great fun for college and adults, too.You can also play where everyone writes as many words as they can think of and the duplicates don't count (like Scategories).
Let the little kids find 3 letter words, but quickly make the minimum 4 letter words!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fast-Paced Fun For All Ages
This game was tons of fun...I purchased it for my 15-year old daughter for a birthday gift. I ordered Smart Mouth from Amazon.com after reading about it in an issue of Real Simple magazine. We opened it up at her party and everyone from my daughter to her 7- and 9-year old nieces to her aunt and myself just loved this game. It was fast-paced and the youngest girl had the quickest answers. Best of all, they had a blast while spelling words!!! A great game, both educational and fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars adult party game
It's a shame this is lumped in with educational games. Although I can see it has great potential a as a vocabulary builder, it is one of the most fun adult party games I've ever played. It's similar in dynamic to Jenga, but requires a loose tongue instead of steady fingers, so it's a better choice after partaking of adult beverages. You can set the rules however you want--minumum 4 letters, only 3 letters, only place names, pick another language, anything! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ABigHit at our house
I bought this game for my son (now 11) two years ago on a Christmas shopping whim. Basically I was down to the end of my shopping, but it looked cool I was tired of shopping so I threw it in the cart. This past year we needed the booster box because we play it so often. It's fun for kids and grownups to play together. We include my younger son (5,a non reader) by playing with teams.Although there is an element of chance, you don't know what kind of task you will be given to perform all the time, I like this game because it incorporates different learning skills and learning styles so there is more then one way to be successful. You are working againest the timer so you need to think quickly and creatively using a variety of materials: clay, charades, and drawing in addition to answering questions and of course the special glasses are part of the fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Game!
This game is the best game i ever played! Me and my friend played it for hours! I really recomend this game because you will have a blast acting sculpting and drawing! Get CADOO! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good game for the money
I think this game was worth the money, we play it a lot at my house and we are big board game players. It is NOTHING LIKE THE ORGINAL CLUE GAME, so if that's what you are looking for, look elsewhere.I would like to see more then 4 people be able to play. And you can p;ay with 2 people, but It's not very fun because you end up following each other around the board asking each other questions. That gets dull, the more people the better.

5-0 out of 5 stars The improved CLUE
This version is better than the first one! My first time playing was at my friend's house. I LOVED it! the only disadvantidge was if you're making a guess, and taking up too much time, it starts saying "Miss Peach, please move." Itget's annoying, but it's better not having to waste time rolling the dice. I think it's great!

3-0 out of 5 stars okay..............
Pretty fun to play and the sound effects are pretty cool, the only problem is that it sometimes takes a little while for the game board to recegnize the pieces.still pretty fun though

Editorial Review

Although it is designed for two or more players, this movie-based game is much more fun for a larger group of film buffs. You'll need a DVD player, along with your TV, to play the game, and it also requires the use of remote control to move the game forward as you play. The rules of the game are very simple; challenging players to recognize and call out answers based on video and sound clips they see on the screen. And because there is a good variety of classic films mixed in with more contemporary movies, the game will appeal to movie fans of all ages. Includes three different games. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This game is a blast!
I took a chance and ordered Shout About Movies 1 and 2 for a friend who loved playing DVD Trivial Pursuit. This game is fantastic. It is so much fun and so little trouble or mess. All you have to do is put the DVD in your player and use the remote control. The directions are on-screen and so easy to understand. You can say, "Hey, let's play Shout Above Movies" and 30 seconds later, you're playing! Fun for any movie fan, 2 or more people, the more the merrier. The only reason I didn't give this game a 5 star rating is that there are only four games on a disc, and you can only play once. After that, you know the answers. It was a little expensive when you take that into consideration. But I have to admit, I bought games 3 and 4 anyway. It is that much fun. I will buy any additional games they come out with as well.

3-0 out of 5 stars Very fun, but not worth the money!
Only buy this when the price goes down!!! My Aunt gave this to me because she played it and once you play all 3 rounds, the game is no good anymore. I really had fun with it, but now it's no good. I really wanted the rest of the series, but learned that the cheapest price was $20 (and at Target, btw!). $20 for this game is way too pricy if you ask me! When it goes under $10 I will buy the rest of the games! Rounds are definitely different andthis game is a lot of fun to play with other movie loving people!

3-0 out of 5 stars expensive for only 3 once used games
I very much enjoyed this game, however for $20 (depending where you purchase it), you only get 3 one time games.Once you've played the games, you can't play them again, because you know the answers. So, after playing the 3 (45 minutes each) games, we gave our DVD to friends who did not have the game. It's the gift that keeps on giving. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Computer Opponents
I was sceptical about this game because I thought that the computer opponents would not be a challenge. I play poker on-line against human players all the time and you never know how well your opponents can play. I am amazed at how this game simulated real players. The multiplayer funtion is amazing with the screen on the controller showing your cards, while hiding it from your friends. The tournement games are cool too. It really simulates playing against 50 people while you are at a table of 6. It's like other games are going on while you are at one table.
I highly recommend this game to ANY level of poker player. They really did a great job with this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's a fun game with but one glaring flaw
This is a very fun game and definitely gives you the "just one more game" thrill you're looking for.You can adjust the speed so that once you get the hang of it you don't have to wait nearly as long for the game's bells and whistles.

My problem is during the tournaments. The game keeps a running total of how many players are left. But it seems that people are dropping out like they were giving away mansions down the road. You can start with 100 players and have it down to 85 in just ten hands. That becomes an issue because the money that those players lose has to go somewhere, and when new players fill in empty seats at your table they often have ludircrous amounts of money in hand.A few exits at your table and you can go from chip leader to shortstack without calling a hand.

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is very fun!!!
It has bad graphics but is easy to play and very addicting.
The Career mode is very interesting because it gets harder as you go along. With more players joining as you go from city to city with the Poker Tour. Overall it is a great game. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Legend of Blue Eyes, not the best of the best
Mostly, you wont get a good card. The only ones that are rare and good are Blue Eyes, Red Eyes, and all 5 peices of Exodia. Although you can get into classics sence it is the first booster. It will give you a boost in your deck. Also, this is one of the few that have Exodia. But I also suggest you buy deck protectors besause of natural disasters that will damage your cards and a deck box to hold it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for staples, bad for play.
Secret Rares (2):

LOB-EN000 - Tri-Horned Dragon
LOB-EN125 - Gaia the Dragon Champion

Ultra Rares (10):

LOB-EN001 - Blue-Eyes White Dragon
LOB-EN005 - Dark Magician
LOB-EN006 - Gaia the Fierce Knight
LOB-EN070 - Red-Eyes B. Dragon
LOB-EN118 - Monster Reborn
LOB-EN120 - Left Arm of the Forbidden One
LOB-EN121 - Right Arm of the Forbidden One
LOB-EN122 - Left Leg of the Forbidden One
LOB-EN123 - Right Leg of the Forbidden One
LOB-EN124 - Exodia the Forbidden One

This set doesn't do much for today's duelist. Sure, you can get all the staple cards - Raigeki, Pot of Greed, Dark Hole, Monster Reborn, Swords of Revealing Light... but, three of those cards have been recently banned from tournament play (Raigeki, Dark Hole, Monster Reborn), and the other two can be found in a Dragon's Roar structure deck. There's also Exodia, which is necessary for building an Exodia deck. But all his pieces have been reprinted as commons in Dark Beginnings 1, and his head a variant in the Master Collection 1 tins.

If you're a scaler like myself (scaler - a person who uses calculator-sized scales to determine packs that weigh more than others, which will mean that they have holofoil cards), then this set is a goldmine, as an Exodia pull, especially if you're lucky enough to have 1st Edition packs, can do more than pay for itself. But don't bet on it. Play it safe and just stick with reprint sets like Dark Beginnings 1 and the Structure Decks to get the goods, this set is better off forgotten.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not the best booster...
Honestly, there are way better boosters (i.e. Invasion of Chaos, Ancient Sanctuary, Rise of Destiny).Don't get me wrong about the pack, but it isn't that good. All the commons are useless, one rare is worth putting in (Pot of Greed) and others are holo (9).Soon we will be getting Dark Beginning 1, and this pack will be outdated, though some of the cards in this pack will cost more.

Pros
-First Booster!

Cons
-No good commons
-Much better packs; better commons in those packs
-Terrible rares (Pot of Greed is best)
-Putting useless cards as holo.

Rating:

Commons: 0.00000000000000000000000000001/5

Editorial Review

Baby boomers and Gen Xers who are stumped by questions in the main edition of Trivial Pursuit may find this SNL Edition right up their alley. This edition follows the premise of the original game, where players roll the die and move around the board answering trivia questions to score a "wedge" of a pie. The object is to score a wedge from each of the six category areas to complete the pie and win the game. However, the less dry SNL Edition requires players to answer questions about the Emmy-award winning late-night show Saturday Night Live rather than testing their knowledge of random factoids. Players can choose from eight different playing pieces, which are cleverly shaped as some of the most recognizable comedic characters on the show, such as Molly Shannon playing Mary Katherine Gallagher, Dan Ackroyd as a Conehead, or John Belushi as the Samurai Deli owner. The game includes over 2,000 questions in six different category areas, which includes 450 interactive questions located on the accompanying DVD. This game makes for a hilarious night of reliving favorite sketches, impressions, and mock commercials from this 30-season show. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Well, ya, it's "educational"!
Okay, so it's not really educational, however, my older kids, who are big SNL fans, have gotten a good sense of the older shows from the game. We've had a blast playing this together.

The little game pieces are SNL characters, however, they are mostly recent (Land Shark and Conehead are the only older ones.) The pieces are CUTE though! Really funny.

One disappointing thing is that while the DVD plays a portion of a skit, it doesn't play the whole skit. Surely, in a DVD (part of a $40 game!), they could have included entire skits.

I like the questions in general, and found the game challenging, but not overwhelmingly challenging. I think it's great for the average SNL fan.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hello! Trivial Pursuit is supposed to be difficult!
Everyone wants to complain about how trivial and difficult the questions are, but have you ever played normal trivial pursuit? You have to be a major geek to get some of the questions right. I had a difficult time playing this, because i was not a baby boomer, and i come from the Darrel Hammond, Jimmy Fallon era. The farthest back I go are the Mango days.
As for the game pieces, they chose some of the most memorable characters from the show to be featured on the pieces and gameboards. There are some memorable African American characters for sure, but the game company had to make a decision out of all of them! It would be challenging. I'm sure they pondered Gumby or Stevie Wonder or James Brown just to name a few.
For anyone that has knowledge of only a few of the SNL seasons, you might want to refresh yourself by going over the Anthony Michael Hall days (I didn't even know he was on the show!). If you have limited knowledge, I suggest a game such as Scene It. It is much easier!
A must buy for any SNL fiend! Good Luck!

1-0 out of 5 stars !!Buy the "Best of" DVDs instead"
Man this game sucks.I LOVE SNL, but the questions here are SO trivial.I was looking forward to getting this for Christmas and was very excited when I opened it.It all went downhill from there.I think the pieces are a good idea, but they're ugly. The DVD clues are dumb and ineffective.I was playing with my dad (who is legally blind). He couldn't read the questions on the tv.I think it would have been better if the dvd was narrated.Overall, the game sucked, the questions were silly and it wasn't fun at all!As an aside, I noticed that there are no African Americans on the box or the board. One could argue that Eddie Murphy or Chris Rock were more successful SNL stars than, say, Cheri Oteri.Whatever.Game sucks.Costs too much.Stay away. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Fibbing
My 7 yr old girl loves this game.We play with her sometimes and for us parents it isn't painful to sit through a game. The kids have a great time trying to "catch us" lying. We mostly play without the board and just asked questions back and forth. My 2 yr old loves to play too. They lie just to see if the machine will catch them.Of course it's all random but the kids take it really seriously. Finally, my daughter took it to school (2nd grade) on Fun Friday. She said she didn't even get to play it because all the other kids were gathered around it playing - it was a big hit.

More than 350,000 copies of The Farming Game ("The Game Inventedon the Seat of a Tractor") have been sold, and this 20th-anniversaryedition introduces a new generation to the joys of muck and milking.Every player starts the game with 20 inherited acres and moves throughthe months (i.e., around the board) trying to build the farm into anindependent, successful concern that will feed the whole family. A fungame, it also has a serious, educational side--having been invented byGeorge Rohrbacher, a farmer in Washington State's Yakima Valley, whothought it up while trying to figure out how to make enough cash to hangon to his family farm. 5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best board games I've ever played
I grew up on a farm, and my brothers and sisters and I started playing this game when it first came out (late 70's? early 80's?) and we still play it when we have a chance to get together.Better yet, we're teaching the younger generation to play with us, and they love it as much as we do.We've added some new Farmer's Fate and Operating Expenses, based on our personal farming experiences, that make things even more exciting. This game teaches you about strategy, debt management, and how to take the good with the bad.I recommend it wholeheartedly.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Farming Game
This game is a really fun game for teenagers, and adults. It teaches you how life really is as a farmer. My family, and my extended family love this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Surprisingly Fun Game
I honestly could not imagine how a game about farming could be fun.Real farming doesn't look the least bit fun to me. After 4 years of reading game reviewers applaud this game, I broke down and bought it for a reunion weekend with a longtime game-playing friend.

When we were well into the first game, my friend put off going to the bathroom for 45 minutes so she could take "just one more turn" and then another and then another. We finally pried ourselves away from the game to go eat at 9:00pm.

It does start out slowly, so give it 2 or 3 times around the board before you give up on it.You start out in debt at the beginning of a new year. One trip around the board is one calendar year.Your goal is to build a profitable farming operation by buying/renting equipment, planting and harvesting, buying and selling livestock. In the meantime, Real Life intervenes in the form of insects, drought, disease, bad weather, taxes, equipment breakdowns, etc. In spite of these frustrations, the fun part is in the harvest. It's sort of like Monopoly with an adrenaline rush! The more fields you own, the bigger the harvest. The more land you own, the more livestock you can support.

The Farming Game is a great educational model for any business, or Life for that matter. You can borrow too much and end up bankrupt. You can have too little cash on hand and not be able to plant. No planting, no harvest. No harvest, no money. No money, no planting.

This is a great game for competitive players. For it to be fun for everyone, players need to be able to count money and either read the cards or be able to follow directions if someone else reads them.If a child can play Monopoly, he or she can play the Farming Game. ... Read more

It's hard to find family games that are fun and challenging forboth kids and adults, but Rummikub fills the bill on all counts. The rulesare simple, the game is varied, and the fun is free for everyone! Thisversion of Rummikub has 106 plastic tiles with numbers in different colorsand four dark-blue plastic tile racks to hold the tiles during play. Theobject is similar to rummy card games, combining your tiles in runs(consecutive numbers in the same color) or sets (groups of the same number). The game rolls along at a fast clip, with wild-card joker tiles adding a bitof luck to the strategy needed to win. I bought this game for my pre-teens and they like it a lot.Theres so many different ways to look at the same tiles that it really gets the brain working. The tiles are very durable--like lighter weight dominoes. The stands are less durable, but good quality in a game. We've played it many times and still enjoy getting it out.

I started playing this as a game at a math class, once I got the hang of it I loved it.To make the story shorter BuyBuyBuy!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Durable version of a fun game
Rummikub is basically the card game of Rummy transferred to tiles -- plastic tiles that resemble ivory in this case -- in a manner similar to Mah-Jongg tiles. The game rules are similar to Rummy. This is a durable set. There is some strategy in the game, but no more than in many card games, and luck remains a major component.Rummikub can be enjoyed by adults, kids, or a mixed-age group, making it a good game for families to buy.Chris da dolphin boy thanks you for reading this review.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple to learn, fun to play, competitive for all ages
A new classic twist on tic-tac-toe.Get 4 in a row, but wait!Your opponent can place a bigger piece over yours, stealing your spot.Pieces stack in 4 sizes, and part of the strategy is to figure out which size piece to play, and when to use your larger pieces to steal.

Kids to adults love Gobblet, and the classic wooden presentation makes it a game to keep on the coffee table for easy play access any time.

And my 9-year-old says, "Highly competitive - I love it!"

5-0 out of 5 stars Gobble Gobble Gobble
I'm a teenager that loves games. I like board games, pencil and paper games, card games, sports...ALL KINDS!! I got GOBBLET for christmas last year. I started playing with my dad and thought this is ok...until he beat me! I was determined to win against him. On the last week of Christmas Break, we played at least 40 games. It's the most engrossing, fun, stategical game I've played. It combines the simplicity of Tic-Tac-Toe with the strategy of Chess and adds a little bit of Memory.

The Object is to aline four of your pieces in a row. Simple right? well the other player can gobble up your smaller pieces. You can gobble up his. It gets tricky to out smart your opponent, but it's ridiculously FUN!
It's for two players and each person gets either black pieces or tan pieces. The pieces are quite nice. They will last longer than ten years if they aren't lost. The board is also nice. The company that makes it, made it extra nice. Everything's made of wood that can take a beating.

Gobblet is the best, most fun game that I own!

Editorial Review

This colorful chess set combines the classic game of strategy and intellect with the wacky and wonderful characters that inhabit the world of the Simpsons. Packed in an attractive metal storage box, the set comes with a fold-up playing board and a complete set of playing pieces. The pieces are all durable, and can probably handle a lot of abuse and mistreatment without being damaged. As a result, fans of the show could also use the pieces as action figures or perch them on a desktop or bookshelf when they are not engaged in a battle of wills on the chessboard. With Homer and Marge Simpson as the king and queen respectively, the chess set also features Bart (bishop), Lisa (rook), and Maggie (pawn) Simpson, as well as Krusty the Clown (knight). --Chris Burns ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great For A Psychologist
This is a great game, it helps do my customers iq's. And its simpsons chess, not an ordinary chess set.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Simpson's play Chess?
This is an excellent gift idea for anybody! This chess set is definitely gets an A+ for fun! Even if you're not a Simpson's fan or haven't heard much about them, this set wonderfully symbolizes the intelligence of the family. Homer is crowned with a beer in his hand while Marge stands taller than the king himself with a rose close to her chest. There is Bart as the bishop, Lisa as the rook, Krusty as the knight, and Maggie portrayed as the pawn. I am surprised, however, that Flanders was not the Bishop. Afterall, he is the holiest of people, the most spiritual to spirits, and the most faithful of all God's faithless souls!
I was asked to rank this toy on an educational level and I gave it four stars. I did so because it is a game of chess. Simply, chess is an educational game that increases your sense of logic and reasoning. Although it is the Simpson's that we are talking about, the fact that if a person can play well with these peices without mixing them up with confusion, then I think you've accomplished something. Skill. As with any chess pieces that are represented by other characters or symbols, you obtain a good sense of awareness and strategy.
This toy is a very fun toy and I would reccommend it to anyone, ESPECIALLY if they enjoy watching the Simpson's. It is fun to play, fun to watch, and fun to display. Friends should definitely be impressed with this chess set!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Dynamic Game for 3+ Players
NOTE: SPOILER ALERT!

I just finished playing this game for the third time in 24 hours, and I just can't believe how much fun it is. I played in a group of four. The first game took 2 hours to play, the second 1 hour, and the third took around 1 hour and 15 minutes.

But lest you think this is a long, boring game (like Monopoly, IMHO), it is unbelievably dynamic, fast-paced, and fun. Things are constantly changing. There are so many possibilities that no two games will be alike. In our first game, we explored the house for about a half hour (which was fun - triggering various events and gathering items) until the "haunt" began. One of our characters became evil, and his goal was to summon a ghost before we did, and then kill the rest of us. Our heroes tried valiantly and ultimately failed in our quest - but it was really fun trying.

In our second game, we explored for a short time before the "haunt began," and a different player became evil, and she immediately summoned several zombies to attack us. Though we valiantly fought, again, we ultimately perished in the effort.

Finally, in our third game, the heroes triumphed in the end. This time after exploring the house for awhile, when the "haunt" began, a statue appeared, which our heroes had to "activate" and then control in an attempt to defeat the player who had turned evil. She, meanwhile, had to try and kill one of our players. We were able to defeat her in the end. Hooray!

Overall, I felt there was a good balance. Some scenarios seemed to slightly favor the good side, some seemed to slightly favor the evil side. A lot depends on the circumstances when the "haunt" begins. But each time, there was always a reasonable chance that either side could win. There's a good balance of strategy and luck.

Since the house develops at random during the game, and since each player can choose from a multitude of characters to play, each game, even if you get the same scenario, will be quite different. This keeps the game fun and interesting.

I tend to get easily frustrated by overly complicated games, or games where it takes too long for my turn to come around (D&D, namely), but I found this game to be quite simple, yet dynamic. Once you get the hang of it (which really didn't take long at all), it's easy to get into the action and have fun exploring. It's like a very simplified RPG. Stats are very easy to track. No need to "roll up" stats - they are predetermined. There are items and events that will improve or decrease your stats as well.

I heartily recommend this game. I'm generally not into "survival horror" type games, but I found this to be incredibly interesting and enjoyable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very scary fun
This game has a lot of pieces, but it means that no two plays through the game are the same. You explore this ghoul filled manor by laying out each room card one at a time, allowing for literally endless creepy possibilities for this fun, creepy, strategy game.My favorite part is always when the Haunt begins and one of the players is suddenly not on the other player's team, but now the enemy!I've found it to be the most fun with at least 4 players, and it does have a lot of pieces to keep up with, but it's definatly many many nights of fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for fans of strategy games and horror stories
Betrayal at House on the Hill is great fun for fans of classic horror stories. You'll battle Frankenstein's monster, Dracula, carnivorous plants, cannibals, werewolves, zombies, mummies and even people you thought were your friends!

Fun - Five Stars

Betrayal is more strategy than role-playing, but it includes elements of both. Each player chooses a character with different traits needed to survive: might, speed, sanity, and knowledge.Based on what the characters encounter and how they deal with it, this traits can improve or degrade.

The most fun part is exploring. As in a good horror story, this is when the tension builds and the real fun happens. The room tile are eerily detailed and each has something different in it.Some are helpful, some are very, very harmful.

The haunt is revealed when a player makes a hount roll and the result is less than the number of Omen Cards in play. This can sometimes happen way too soon, so my friends and I decided not to attempt haunt rolls until ten rooms had been explored.

When the haunt begins, one player turns traitor and leaves the room to read "The Traitor's Tome," which explain how the traitor's win, e.g. "when all of the heroes are dead," "you blow up the house," "you open the gate to hell."The heroes then read "Secrets of Survival" and discuss their strategy.

The cooperative element is interesting, but can be difficult for highly competitive players to grasp. These do better as the traitor who, with his monstrous minions, is alone against the rest.

Close battles are a lot of fun, but sometimes the variables weight a game in favor of one side.Once as the Zombie Lord, I killed all players but one, who picked up all the dropped items and became almost invincible. The battle was epic, but the undead didn't stand a chance. Also, if Frankenstein's monster goes after a physically weak character such as Professor Longfellow, it's a no-brainer.

Educational Value - Four Stars

While no substitute for reading Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley, the game can generate interest in the classic stroies. It also has a strong cooperative element and requires critical thinking and self sacrifice.

Durability - Three Stars

Due to the incredible amount of tokens, some are bound to get lost. Also, the paint rubs off of the character cards from sliding the plastic trait markers up and down.

Overall - Five Stars

This game is very engaging and fun.Observe the recommended age of ten or above (the cannibal scenario is particularly disturbing), but ignore the 1 hour play time.Close games can take several hours, while some are over in half an hour. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Timeless and classic.
Scrabble is probably one of the games I remember playing first as an older kid; and the Spanish version was what I played at family gatherings - it's part of my heritage. It was exciting to find it on the net!I called various toys r us stores and was only able to get it through the net.Great game.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Old Version of Spanish Scrabble!
I'm bilingual (Spanish/English) but my elderly mother's command of English is limited. Decades ago we bought a "foreign edition" Scrabble set, manufactured by Selchow & Righter Co. of Bay Shore, NY. Our set is truly a Spanish version, lacking "k" but with "ñ," "ll," and "rr" (the latter two no longer individual letters in Spanish) and with plenty of the more common vowels in the Spanish language. The letter values differ from the English values, commensurate with their degree of usage in each language. The last copyright notice on the Spanish game is from 1953. We bought it in the early 70's. Why didn't Hasbro follow this edition for their Spanish version? It is definitely a more accurate and educational one!

5-0 out of 5 stars Spanish can be better
I live in Puerto Rico. My friends and I usually play in both in English and Spanish at the same time. But if you what to learn Spanish I will recommend playing the game entirely en Español. I will give you the pros and cons of this version:

Pros:
1. You can make higher scores in Spanish. K-8 points, W-8 points, Q-8 points but much easier to use, LL-8 points, RR-8 points, Ñ-8 points, and it is much easier to get rid of all your letters than in English.
2. Spanish words are written just as you pronounce them (that is why there are no Spanish spelling bees).
3. You can learn Spanish in a fun way, plus the game can be used in English and it has a couple more vowels.

Cons:
1. There are no really good Spanish dictionaries, other than the Spanish Royal Academy Dictionary (Amazon has it at a reasonable price). And no Spanish Scrabble dictionary is to be found. This will make it hard on verb conjugation.

Whether you play it in Spanish or English or both the Spanish tiles are definitely better. Go ahead and try this version. Come on, you know you what to. ... Read more

Includes three different games. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great, but need more games on each disc!
We love this game!We have played both this game and Scene It, and we think this is superior. It is true that you only get 3 games per disc, which is our least favorite part of the game. The other review written by the creator of the game is a little misleading. The disc has three games, and has about 3.4-3.5 gigabytes of data, which means they probably could fit 4 games on a disc if they are using a standard single-layer DVD (4.7GB), or up to 8 games on a disc if they used a dual-layer DVD (9.4GB).Dual-layer is what most DVD movies you purchase are, and that would be normal for something mass-produced like this game.
As I said though, we do love this, and we plan to swap discs with my brother who has a different version when we have both played them all.

5-0 out of 5 stars We love this game!
To Mr. Biel (creator)what a super concept for a game!My family is known for hosting incredibly fun parties, so every year for Christmas I make sure to either make-up a game or find one that can be played with lots of people. When I read about this DVD game, it seemed perfect so I purchased all four DVDs.I have to say, not only did we have the greatest time playing them, but everyone at the party (50+ people)swore they were going to purchase the DVD game for family members or friends.Okay, so you can only play the game one time - but each DVD takes about three hours to play.I look at that as a value considering it's a huge amount of entertainment for less than $20.Also, since I've played all four DVDs, I let each of the party guests take one of them home to give to a friend or family member so I feel like they will still get much more use. There are two drawbacks to the game, one is that there are several repeated movies from DVD to DVD (perhaps this was due to copyrighted material, not sure), the other is the scoring in the final round (you should be allowed to bet exact amounts vs. 15, 30, etc.)Regardless, the game is still great and I will purchase these again for future parties I attend.I'm also excited that more DVDs will be coming out and I will purchase those as well!

4-0 out of 5 stars Shout about Movies
My family, ages ranging from 8 to 93 played this game on Christmas Eve and we had a blast. True you only get three games, but if we were to have rented a few videos, or all gone out to see a movie or bowling it would have cost just as much, probably more. You have to look at buying this game as a one time entertainment for a party or get together. Just as if you were gong to buy some pizza or something. It was a lot of fun and kept us laughing and enjoying ourselves as a family. Its intent is not to be like a computer game that you play over and over. Its intent is for one evening of good clean fun. The creators are very up front about that. It is what it is and I thought it was a blast. I am 34 by the way.

Thanks. ... Read more
