Editorial Review

Do all of the questions in your original Trivial Pursuit game seem familiar? Are you blurting out the answer before the entire question has been asked? If so, you can rejuvenate your game and bring the challenge back by adding this set of Know-It-All cards (with more than 1,000 new questions) to your favorite Genus edition of Trivial Pursuit. Or you can use the Know-It-All cards, the included dice, and score sheets to play a self-contained game without needing a game board or playing pieces. Perfect for travel. The six question categories are: people and places, arts and entertainment, history, science and nature, sports and leisure, and wild card.--Wendy Slotboom ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not the same caliber as the original Trivial Pursuit
I don't know if Trivial Pursuit sold the rights to its brand name following the success of the original game or what, but (in my opinion) NONE of the other TP games has ever measured up to the first.

Unlike the original, where well-written questions were often intuitive (if you thought hard enough) or at least very interesting if you didn't know the answer, the questions in this game are poorly phrased (and at times misleading) and BORING!!!

What a shame!

1-0 out of 5 stars can't believe i paid $15 for this
Well I misread the description, and thought I'd be getting 1,000 new cards but was disappointed to see it was only 200.For $15.Double that and you get 5 times as many cards plus a board with Vol. 6.I've about exhausted my cards from Vol. 6, looks like I'll exhaust the know-it-all cards in another two games. What a rip-off.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just wehen you thought you knew it all - - -
A sure fire crowd pleaser! Winning Moves has put together a set of 1,000 questions that can be added to ANY current Trival Pursuit game. The additional cards have new, never before seen questions, and most are very challenging.
For those who like or love Trivial Pursuit, this is neccessary addition to your set. Winning Moves brings together six catagories, including Sports and Leisure, Arts and Entertainment, to provide hours of fun for everyone.

The Questions will range from common knowledge to the obscure, keeping each player involved in the game. While the price is a bit high, the value is still very good for the money.

This game is good for home, office, on the road while traveling and would make a real stocking stuffer at Christmas. Winning Moves also has a Chicago, New York City and New England Editions. Team play will surely liven up playing this game. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Booster Box 2 is "Primo"!
Cranium's Booster Box 2 is chock-full of more zany Cranium cards and contains four tubs of the modelling clay instead of just one.In fact, BB2 has the same content as the new "Cranium Primo" [money] but without the embossed, 'collectible' game tin and clay tins.If you've exhausted your original Cranium cards and the first Booster Box, you'll want to consider either the new Cranium Primo set with the complete game in 'upscale' packaging, or the Booster Box 2 which is just the cards & clay.In both Primo and BB2 (the cards are the same, remember) there are four tubs of clay to allow enough for all 4 teams to compete simultaneously in the new "Sculptorades."True Craniacs may insist on the fancy Cranium Primo package, but we're happy to add the two Booster Boxes to our original Cranium set.For [money] we have "Cranium Primo" just without the bells & whistles! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Masterful Game of Fighting Sail
Front Porch Classics produces the highest quality family game entertainments anywhere, and this game is an outstanding example of their craft. Exquisite game pieces, a cloth `map' game surface, wooden dice and the wood-cased hourglass are all presented in an exceptionally handsome wooden chest; all of which would be reason enough to acquire this game. Yet it is the game play itself that also captures the imagination and the feel of the `age of fighting sail.' Just take a look at the rules for yourself on their frontporchclassics.com website (where you can click through to the "Master and Commander" page and download the rules in PDF format). This is a game that has not only the highest quality in game components but a high replay factor as well. It plays as good as it looks. My highest recommendation. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
Kudos to Cryptique for this inspiring product! The letters and iconography are tasteful, and light years away from the crude carnival fare that most Spirit boards feature. Truly, such evocative imagery (the swirling background) and language ("yea/nay") cannot help but conjure up some powerful Magick.

However, any tool to contact the spirit world must be used with caution. Be sure to cast Black Ward on all your creatures before using (unless, obviously, they already have protection from Black). The only trouble is that doing this will require White Mana, so it won't fit into your Black deck. But after all, no product is perfect!

5-0 out of 5 stars Our 4 year old cannot get enough, and we are all learning
Out family has played Time Troopers and/or Show Me The Wild at least 5 times a week since Thanksgiving. As family came and went over the holidays everyone played, everyone learned, and everyone had fun spending time with each other. Our 4 year old begs to play every night before going to bed and learns even from her parents questions.

The video content is even captivating for our 10 month old, so he will have a head start once he starts talking and playing

5-0 out of 5 stars Have a blast in the past, with everyone in your family!!!
This game was extremely fun and engaging!!!!

Everyone, from young to old, enjoyed it!!!

The most important and unique attribute of the game is the ability for everyone, regardless of age/knowledge, to play and have an equal chance of winning!

Pros:

-You can set the time limit of the game, so you can have the game work around you schedule.
-The video clips in the game and appearances by John Clease are classic.
-You can teach history to your children without them even realizing it.
-All ages can play, win, and have a blast.
-The DVD format works great! No clean up, no score calculations, no pieces to lose, and it doesn't take up storage space.

Cons:

-There aren't more games like it.

Overall, I am extremely excited about this DVD game, it has it all! I strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to have good clean fun with their family and heck; even learn something while you're at it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Family fun as advertised!
This game has me playing with my wife and 12 and 13 year old boys and we all love it!The game is entirely contained on anormal DVD that you play on your tv- no board pieces, etc to keep track of- the game does it all for you. You can select your level of expertise so everyone can play against each other, and then the "dynamic leveling" keeps it fun for everyone since questions for players get harder/easier with more right/wrong answers. This tends to keep the games close and fun.John Cleese is hilarious in some of the "fate card" scenes. The boys had so much fun they didn't realize they were learning history!Highly recommended!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What a good idea, Grandma
One of my kid's Grandmother's brought this. Very portable, sturdy, would be great for traveling with kids. The trick she explained is that you can have different, easier rules for younger kids so that it can be great fun for new readers too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Than The Original Version
Boggle is a game in which you try to make up the most words using the letters found in a 4x4 grid. The letters must connect and you only have three minutes to do so. The bigger the words the higher the points you get, but if two or more players find the same word no one gets points for it. The game is very fun and fast paced. Plus you can play as little or as much time as you want; no need to "finish" the game (like in Scrabble). Just add the points and whoever has the higher score wins, it's that simple.

This version is Awesome and nicely improved over the original version. Here comes the description;

NEW DOME AND GRID: The dome and grid are made of a new material that makes it QUIETER when you shake the letter dice. No more waking everyone up late at night!

BUILT-IN TIMER: It comes with an electronic timer (batteries are included) that beeps softly and changes color from green to amber, then to red when times almost up. This eliminates the need to bob up your head every 10 seconds to see if the sand timer ran out. Great!

PLAYING MATERIALS: Four pads and pencils are included, plus the instructions obviously.

COMES IN A FOLIO: Stores everything easily. The folio has pockets for the pads and pencils (extra space for more). You can carry it around comfortably and is great if you have to travel or wait for a long time in one place.

This version is so nice it should be called Boggle Deluxe Edition. If you like Boggle you must buy this. As soon as you do, you will not go back to the original version, guaranteed.

This special-edition game celebrates 65 years of Tripoley, a long-time favorite for parties or at-home fun. Tripoley combines the strategy and skill involved in hearts, poker, and Michigan rummy. One game of each constitutes a "round" of Tripoley. The group decides the number of rounds in each game before play begins. After all the rounds have been played, the player with the most chips is the winner. Designed for two to nine players. This special edition includes a rotating game tray, poker chips, and playing cards. --Alison Golder ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Lotta Fun
Tripoley is a really fun game.An entire deck of cards is dealt to the players. An extra hand is dealt to the table to either be swapped by the dealer or another player if they have no pay cards in their hand. The dealer gets the hand for free if they want it.Others have to pay.

The rest of the rules are easy to follow. This is a game that people of all ages can enjoy. It is hilarious when people have pay cards (10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace of hearts) and another person ends the game before the pay card holder can lay them down.

Poker is also part of the game, and as long as the money is just chips or pennies it doesn't get too serious and fun is had by all.

Every Tripoley game we have owned has been well constructed and never wore out.Well, the cards wear out, but we expect that.

If your looking for a good game to play when visitors come over, this is it!

See ya next review.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
Tripoley...where to start. You begin by dealing the cards evenly to all players, and there are variations which may include you dealing an extra hand. The first game you play is Hearts. If you have either the 10, Jack, Queen, King, or Ace of Hearts, or a mix, then you take all the chips out of those certain dishes; there is a special dish for players who hold both the King and Queen of Hearts, so you would receive the Queen dish, King dish, and the Both K and Q dish.Obviously this will build up in chip value over time with more players as it is harder to get both of these cards in the same hand. Also, during the game of Hearts, if you have an 8, 9, and a 10 all of the same suit in your hand then you receive the chips in that dish. This, as well, will build up over time.
Then you play Poker. You simply take five cards out of however many you have which make up your best Poker hand.If you aren't familiar with Poker, just look at the instructions for what are Poker hands and what are worth more.Start bidding with the dealer and all bets go in the "Pot".The winner, after betting stops, will get all the chips in the Pot.
The last game played is Michigan Rummy, where the dealer lays down his lowest card out of his entire hand. Then the person with the next highest card in the same suit puts down that card, until the Ace of that suit is played or the Stop Card, which is the last highest card played, is played.Whoever put the Stop Card down will then change suits by placing the lowest card in his hand from another suit down. This keeps going until the first person gets rid of all their cards and they claim all the chips in the "Kitty" section.
This game is very, very fun and they also list some variations to the game which make it even more interesting and fun.I gave the fun five stars because I have yet to have a boring game of Tripoley; the fun is endless.Five stars for educational purpose because you get to learn how to play three types of card games, and you learn to be strategic, whether it's betting or choosing the 'right' lowest card in Michigan Rummy (if you have two 3's, then stragety comes into play because you need to examine your hand carefully and see what suit will do better for you). This game is very durable; I've dropped several heavy things on this by accident and it is still in perfect condition.
Overall, this is a wonderful game for anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Grandma's view

Bringing a new look to the classic peg solitaire game, here comes Hoppers. Since peg solitaire is a jumping game, what could be more natural than designing the pegs to resemble frogs? Players choose their preferred level of difficulty (from beginner to expert) and select one of the 40 cards included with the game. Following the diagram on the card, 4 to 12 frogs are placed on the game board lily pads. Then it's time to get hopping. Frogs leap over each other until there's only one left on the board. The beginner setups will be easy enough for most players to master quickly. The expert setups will take a lot of cogitation and some false starts before they're solved. If players have jumped and jumped and are still stumped, each card has the solution on the back. When play is done, frogs and playing cards can be tucked away in the nifty storage compartment beneath the game board.--Wendy Slotboom ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FUN WAY TO MASSAGE YOUR BRAIN!
This is a great toy to develop your child's strategic thinking. The game is relatively simple. Organize your frogs as per the cards, jump one frog over the other and remove the jumped-over frog. The objective is to leave just one frog. You can only jump `adjacent' frogs along the lines (see picture).

The recommended age is 8 but younger children (supervised!) are just as enthralled. I had to improvise on the instructions, but I've taught the concepts to two 3 year olds - my buddy's son and my own. You will be amazed that they get it!

It is the greatest travel game. My son got this when he was 3 years old, and 4 years later it is still his first choice when we ask him to pick some toys for a trip........and he has a GameBoy!!

It is very durable, constructed very well and has seen no wear in 4 years of regular use. This is one of the toys that'll, literally, last you a life-time.

This is definitely a precursor for any parent looking to teach their kids Chess. Solving each situation requires you to think a few steps ahead.

This is probably the least expensive way to develop a new dimension in your child's brain.

VARIATIONS:
This toy also comes with a single "Red Frog". The objective is to leave the red frog standing.

OTHER SIMILAR TOYS:
FlipIT - This toy made by the same company, is a more difficult version of Hoppers. It is a 4X4 grid with Turtles instead of Frogs. The turtles can be placed on their bellies (green side up) or can be turned-turtle (orange side up).
One jumps over the turtles but the turtles do not come off the board - they just flip over. They flip over each time they're jumped over - green to orange and orange to green. The objective is to turn all turtles the right (green) side up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hop Hop Hop
Another fun game for those who can't read or who can't read English. The youngest likes to put the pegs in. It is good practice setting up the games from the cards. The little frogs can get lost, but the neat box the game makes into helps with that. And, you don't need all the frogs to play most of the set ups.

5-0 out of 5 stars I had a Hoppin' good time!
My friend got Hoppers as a birthday present and we all played it.It was really fun and it got more challenging as we went on.What you do is: You pick a card and place the frogs on the pgs of what the picture shows on the card. Then you take one frog and jump it over one.The one that it jumped over, take it off the peg.The object it to have 1 frog remaining. It is very educational because you have to think when you play it.It is very durable because there is a pull out drawer under it that you store the frogs and the cards in.It's a great game that you can play in the car, especially for long vacations.Hoppers is hours of fun for everyone! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT GAME
I am a card game collector. I came across this card game a while back and it caught my attention. Instructions are very easy and the game is real fun. My friends come over my place all the time and usually every one wants to get a turn. The best way I have found to make every one happy is to have one group playing target and the other playing Phase 10 (which is similar)with a slight twist. I recommend this game to every one

While the starter deck is impressive, the real power is locked within the booster packs. Right now I'm working on a darkness deck and the boosters are coming in handy.

This is a true story. Today I was shopping with my sister (because I'm the one who drives) and I picked up a couple of boosters for my collection. When I got back home I pulled a very powerful darkness card from one of the packs; Deathliger, Lion of Chaos.

Is a loser like myself can pull a spectacular card at random, then you can too. Buy the booster packs and you won't regret it.

5-0 out of 5 stars better than yu-gi-oh
This is way better than yu-gi-oh in many ways hey don't get me
wrong i know what all you fans are thinking yeah right your crazy trust me i know what i'm saying i use to be a yu-gi-oh fanatic as well until i played duel masters they call it duelmasters because its the master of all dueling tcg's it has wonderful gameplay and is much more fun here is top 3 reasons its better than yugioh
1. its less expensive than yugioh less money for more fun you do the math fun + less $$$ = happiness for you and your kids of parents or and just you depending whose reading and buying
2.has tornaments everybody can compete in not just the best soyou will never be rejected for your skill
3.alot less cards to collect so you can usally just collect for a few months and then have them al and wholla there you have it another edition of the game
hey your already on the page so buy it off of amazon right now you will see what i mean you may want to read the rules so maybe if your a first you should buy the starter deck.

5-0 out of 5 stars Future CCG investments that should be on your list!
I've been through many card games, most likely all of them were "cool to have" when they first came out. Still hard hitting, precise strategic card game is Magic: The Gathering. I've seemed to have started to play this occasionally, and somewhat never.Recently not investing in new cards due to new rules, to make it confusing.

That leads me to why I want to review this product. Familiar with Mana, and Energys, Duel Masters is a game based upon similar rules from Pokemon and MTG. Although equal in many ways Duel Masters is so much different. Many of the MTG rules were omitted, and new styles of gameplay were added. Which created the much more player-friendly gameplay style.

If you play MTG, you know there is Mana. Well there is for Duel Masters too. Every card in your deck is Mana, if flipped upside down, and placed in your Mana pool.

Booster packs, are a great addition to any CCG. Only getting starter decks will not provide exposure to DM's excellent variety of monsters. I highly recommend DM. Educationally, it it would ultimately teach basic math, and a decent amount of patience.

Overall this is a great product. As I see it, its a CCG aimed for the smaller of the crowd. The style of drawing is more unique and has a Japanese flare to it. You ask if its worth it, or if it is better than,Yu Gi Oh,when still is a good game, lacks variety, simple artwork, and no story-line behind the cards. (i.e. Flavor text and novels from MTG) This product is surely to be sucessful, it has already taken lead CCG in Japan, outranking Yu Gi Oh. A must buy situation! ... Read more

Grrr! Getting aggravated yet? Aggravation is the classic marble race around a star shape, from base to home sweet home. It's always tempting to take a shortcut, but beware! An opponent might be waiting for just such an opportunity to aggravate. By landing on another player's marble, anyone can send that marble back to its base to start over. And this could be a serious setback, since the object is to get all four marbles back home before the others do. Each player rolls the die and moves a marble around the board, choosing along the way whether to aggravate another player, take a shortcut (or super shortcut!), or just try to quietly slide by (good luck with that approach!). The game includes 24 marbles, 18.5-by-18.5-inch game board, die, and instructions. For two to six players. --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

You can get the old vintage aggravation games on Ebay for 10 or less and theres also some hand-made wooden boards as well. These new versions dont hold a candle to the old ones, Just as old tvs seem better than some of the new ones.

5-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed in the new game look
I have given my points based on the old aggravation game. I wish that I could find the old game which was better made and looked better. If there is such a place that sells this game please notify me ASAP. I will not waste my money on the new and so-called-updated game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes, it's cheaply made... but it's our favorite game!
We got this game for my daughter's 8th birthday, and it has quickly become our favorite game.In some ways, it's like Sorry, although the board is a bit more tortuous to get around. Also, it allows you to play with 6 players (although we've never played with more than 4).

What I like the best is that this game is completely unpredictable.Yes, you could have the best strategy in the world, and be on the verge of winning, but then the roll of the dice can allow somebody who is much further behind come back and unexpectedly win!

The other great things it the portability of this game.We are about to go on vacation, and all you really need is the board, marbles and dice. It's definitely coming with us.We LOVE this game. ... Read more

This low-budget game is, essentially, a modified version ofbingo. Each player gets one of twelve 6-by-9-inch cardstock boards. Afive-by-five grid of playing cards is printed on each board. The dealercalls out cards one by one (playing cards not included), and playersmark off called cards on their boards using the included poker chips. The first player to get five cards in a row wins the round and all thechips in play. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game!!
I've been playing this game since I was a child and it's so much fun.We use 3 cups and put a quarter in each cup per game. The first person to get all four corners wins that cup, the first person to get the center card wins that cup, and when someone wins Pokeno which is 5 cards in a row (Bingo) the game is over and the person collects that cup.The boards are always cleared after Pokeno and if no one wins the corner or center the money stays in the cup and keeps adding up!! The more people who play the more money you win. You can play this game many, many different ways. Great game and lots of fun for the whole family!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Family Fun
I have played this game with my boyfriend and his family, we dont use chips though (we play for Dimes) it is always alot of laughs, and we are up all night playing.

Although it is designed for two or more players, this movie-based game is much more fun for a larger group of film buffs. You'll need a DVD player, along with your TV, to play the game, and it also requires the use of remote control to move the game forward as you play. The rules of the game are very simple; challenging players to recognize and call out answers based on video and sound clips they see on the screen. And because there is a good variety of classic films mixed in with more contemporary movies, the game will appeal to movie fans of all ages. Includes three different games. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Play Disc 3 before Disc 2 - Here's why!
Discs One and Two feature clips from Dreamworks, Twentieth Century-Fox, MGM, United Artists, Columbia, Sony and Tri-Star. Plenty of material and nothing ever repeats, but some of the same movie titles from these great studios reappear. For Discs 3 and 4 a ton of material was then added from Universal, Hithcock, Paramount and Eddie Murphy. So, for the greatest cross-section of studios and films, buy one from Disc 1 or 2 and then another from Discs 3 or 4.

3-0 out of 5 stars To many repeats
I loved the Disk 1,, it was great, I love the concept, the on screen scoring, the old and new mix of movies (All of us knew something, our 10 yr old, 14, 16, 19 yr old and us)I HAD to get game two, got it cheap, was so excited... we just played it, and at least half, seemed like more, were the same movies represented on the first disk.
The questions were different, the scenes were different, but once you go through the same answers, it was more just trying to remember what last disk's answers were... I was sooo dissappointed....
Seems as though the company only got the rights to a few select movies,,, and had to rearrange questions to come up with same answers...
Too bad.. I was hooked.

5-0 out of 5 stars About two hours of lots of fun
As reviewers point out below, the DVD is good for three games. Once you played all three, that's it.

But those three games will be a lot of fun. All instructions are on screen and very easy to follow. Setup time is under three minutes.

The game moves very quickly. There is enough variety in the games to keep everyone glued to the screen all the time. Even if a team opens a big lead during the game, the last round, where teams can bet points (including all points), makes the game competitive up until the last round.

The game keeps track of the points on screen. It's a great feature.

We played a round with four people (two in each team) a couple of nights ago. It was a lot of fun. I can't wait to play with bigger teams.

Bottom line: at about $8 per game, it is a great investment. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars great cheap set
The case in this set is probably worth half the asking price. The chips are not "casino" weight, but miles ahead of the interlocking plastic chips. My only complaint is that I wish there were more white or red chips and less green and blue. Overall a very good buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best "cheap" poker chips you can buy
For plastic poker chips, this set is awesome. It has the looks of a professional 11.5 gram set. That is until you notice the chips are plastic (high quality though).

The case is very strong and very good looking. It includes 2 deck of cards, 200 chips (50 white, 50 red, 50 blue, 50 green), and a beautiful dealer chip. It has very nice instructions on how to play the game.

200 chips are usually enough for casual play. Pros should look elsewhere. If you are trying to impress your friends but not want to spend a lot of money look no further, you just found what you are looking for. Believe me you will not find a nicer "cheap" poker set than this one.
