5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite game is Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy
I love this game because I a huge fan of Star Wars and I like this game because it is so fun to play by myself and I like the sound effects and the graphics and the lightsabers too. I will recomend this game for any hard core Star Wars fan!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than Outcast, not as good asJedi Knight
What I liked about this game was the speed and 3rd person view controls (for the most part). The Xbox controller handled things pretty well under the default settings. My biggest problems with it was ducking (plunging the right stick) and the limited space available for Jedi force powers. Four assignable buttons were not really enough for all the available forces. I was always short one force power and reassigning forces in the middle of a fight was out of the question. Effects in 1st person view are lacking (not just in the resolution dept.) when compared with the PC version. For example weapons animation was nada. The story was OK. It wasn't ground breaking or anything, but it was interesting enough. My biggest complaint here was Jaden's (your character) speed of advancement. It made Kyle look like a slow learner.
Every other incarnation of the Jedi Knight series started you with conventional weapons and slowly devoloped the light sabre skills. Yes, you could use the light sabre early on in them as well, but your character (Kyle) was downright inept at it. That system forced you to get comfortable with all the conventional weapons first and then eventually had you convert over to Jedi fighting. Thats what helped make Jedi Knight so good. In this game you start off by knowing the most powerful forces (sabre throw and sabre defence) and can use them straight away. Because of this using conventional weapons in Jedi Academy became almost an afterthought really early on (eg. oh there's an enemy way off in the distance....I think i'll sniper that one). An oppprtunity to go into more training scenarios was also missed. One introductory level goes into basic training and that is it. Considering all of the acrobatics in this one I would of welcomed more than just,"Oh, you're level 3 now, move on to the next set of missions and familierize yourself as you go".

Jedi academy is a pretty good take on Dark Forces but I have played much better. Also, eventhough the Xbox release is quite good I think it would be better played on a decent PC. Although, its possible that a keyboard/mouse combo would not stack up to the contoller S specifically when in Lightsaber combat. There will be pros and cons to both versions I guess. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Idiots above cry to much!!!! Very Good Game!!!!!!!1
This game is a huge improvement of the first one. The haymakers are very cool. The only reason the people above complain about it is because they probably don't have the coordination to throw them in rapid succession. You can block them and throw them, you just have to practice. I hope EA can get permission from the IBF, WBC,and WBO boxing commissions to make the ultimate realistic game. This game is getting closer in that direction. You can move up and down in weight and unify belts, be the pound for pound champ. What I like most is, you don't have to accept challenges for your belt once your champion. You can simply fight tune-up fights whenever you feel. This will prolong your career. If you manage the time lengths between fights just right, you can have long careers. My guy is 73-0 right now and only 42 yrs old. Yea, it sucks that they start losing attributes once thier older, but I think it makes it more challenging. They also need more of the real boxers of today in the career mode. Overall there is too many good features about this game to write about, but the direction each Fight Night is going is the right one! Don't pay any attention to the poor crying video game nerds above that can't seem to figure it out. Well Worth buying in my oppinion.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Very Realistic
Probably the least realistic boxing game I've ever played and I've played a bunch. Basically, whoever lands the most haymakers wins the fight. Very unsatisfying.

The last one was very good, too bad they added the ridiculous haymaker feature. Initially I was happy to hear they got rid of tigger, thinking that they would keep the game basically the same with minor improvements and additional boxers. As it turns out, I'd rather have tigger in the game and not the stupid haymaker feature which makes this game extremely unrealistic and, ultimately, boring.

Stick with the first one and hope that for the next one they smarten up and get rid of the haymaker feature and add some semblance of reality to the game. Disapointing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best boxing game ever!
First off this is the best boxing game ever. You can get into the game right when you start playin it just takes a little while to get use to the controls, but once you get use to the controls you will have a blast with the haymaker's. Haymaker's make the game better with huge uppercuts or other moves. This game is worth the money and you will probably play it for a long time. The carrer mode is alright but once you start to be in the 30's and 40's you start to lose everything you get fat and you may start to lose more fights with some of the bigger and better stars. It is also pretty sad watching your favorite boxer getting fat and the crap knocked out of him too. There are alot of boxers to chose from like Bernard Hopkins or Jermaine Taylor. There is no Mike tyson but thats not enough to bring the game down. There are probably thousands of ways you can customize a boxer or create a boxer. I reccomend this game to any boxing fan. Go buy it and have a blast!! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware
Battery is way overpriced. Contact Battery Store near you! I did and found this same exact battery type(2-6volt Batteries) for much less. While there they told me I could use a low amp 12v Deep Cycle battery instead. It did take some time wiring (FUSED LINK IS A MUST) but is well worth it. Lasts all day and you can charge it at a 2 amp "trickle charge" with a "amp selectable" car battery charger. All told it cost me less than $60 for everything. It now longer just "Takes Up Space".

1-0 out of 5 stars Battery stinks!
Our battery quit recharging after about a year.It is very dissappointing to charge a battery for hours and then have to tell your little one that it didn't work.It has been difficult to find another battery.I thought the Fisher price 12-volt would work but it did not connect. Apparently, you have to buy this brand, which, by-the-way, cost about a third of the cost of our tractor! What can you do?

5-0 out of 5 stars You MUST follow the directions to the T!
We have this battery and it works great. We were very skeptical because of all the bad reviews. However, if you follow the instructions to the T it works great. The initial charge MUST be 18 hours. We did ours 24.You CANNOT run this battery completely dead.Once you see the toy start to lose it's speed where first is really doggy, then you must take the battery out and charge it.Again, it must be charged the entire cycle of 18 hours. We have been following these instructions (which are the manufacturers) and it works great. My son can get about 3 hours if running it nonstop.Which he has done a few times.Don't try to quick charge this because it is not made to do that. Also, you must charge it once every month when it is not being used (i.e, winter months).Again, the instructions per the manufacturer. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great pool and very sturdy
I recently bought this particular pool and set it up. It took about an hour to set it up. I previously had a soft side pool, which was a major challenge to level. Even if the ground is not 100% level, it will still be level. The pool is very sturdy and is much bigger than I expected. I hope to get alot of use out of this pool. I was surprised to find that the pool is actually a dark blue color, which I like. The pool comes with a ground cloth, pool cover, ladder, pump, leaf skimmer and a vacuum. The online description did not state what was included with the purchase. Therefore, I thought I would list that in the review so others who read this will know. I am very happy with this pool so far. Also, for the price, it is worth it. I would recommend this pool over the soft side pools. You can hold on to the side and not fall out. Also, the cover that comes with the pool is light weight and easy to put over the pool. I would recommend putting sand underneath the pool to level it, but if it not perfect, it will still look okay. Hopefully, this pool will last several years.

5-0 out of 5 stars awsome, sturdy, fun
this pool has lasted 4 years and is still going strong.one small leak was easily patched 2 years ago without even draining the water.this pool will stand sturdy even if the ground in not perfectly level.I have had 3 children learn how to swim in this pool.the pump works well, the pool is super durable.we take it down and reassemble it every season. ... This review is to help with this Adapter if you can't find it. I went to Radio Shack and they sell a 9V/300mA AC-to-DC Power Adapter. It's $14.00. It comes with 1 adaptaplug. Size O and size N will both seem to fit in the V-Smile, but only size N really fits. [...] It is Catalog # 273-1767. It works fine for the V-Smile. Good Luck to all and of course you can use the adapter for other V-tech products.Just bring it to radioshack and you can try all the various plugs to see which one you need.

3-0 out of 5 stars Cute bed but.....
We bought two of these beds for our twin daughters about 2 months ago. Within about a month of them having them they managed to pull out the bars the mattress sits on! This bed might work for a child that is laid back, But not for my two. We're going to buy them a twin bed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bought similar Dora bed
We bought my daughter the Dora version of this bed a couple of months ago.My husband put it together without a problem. It's durable, yet lightweight and easy to move around if you need to.Our daughter went crazy over it and is so proud to sleep in it.Anyone with bedtime challenges may want to try it out, or something similar. No more lying in bed with her to get her to fall asleep, as she thinks I'm too big to lie in it.Defintely got my money's worth.

3-0 out of 5 stars Cute Bed
I bought this bed because it looked like a "girly" bed. Over all the bed is cute, but it was a little trying to put together since only one of the bars on the bottom gets screwed to the side rails, every time you move the bed to try to put something else together the other bars would come out. You need two people, or need to be very talented to put this bed together for that reason. I also have a problem with the side rails where they attach to the head board they like to slide down, so I have to keep pushing them up. Other than those things it seems to be ok, but I can't say that I would have purchased this bed again. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Pokémon Sapphire's updated graphics with weather effects, amazing sound, more than 200 Pokémon with over 100 new species--as well as its faithful adherence to the existing series of Pokémon games--makes for a welcome evolution in the series.

First, the game has a lot in common with Pokémon games Silver, Gold, and Crystal. For example, players can choose to be a boy or a girl trainer, an internal clock sets events at certain times, and the game's handy-dandy Pokédex helps players keep track of the many stats. You're main goal is still to beat all the Gym Trainers and become the Pokémon Master. If you've played the old games, you will be right at home. But not all is the same.

The most obvious change is in the battles themselves. Now that two Pokémon can fight on your side at the same time, you can tag-team them against an enemy by taking advantage of the strengths of your Pokémons while covering their weaknesses. For example, you can now have a water Pokémon watch your fire Pokémon's back. You can also attack more than one Pokémon at a time.

A whole new element to the game focuses on how berries are used in battle. And if you collect enough berries, you can take them to a Berry Blender and make a PokéBlock, which is a little super-charged candy that raises your Pokémon's "Condition" attributes. You can then groom your Pokémon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like "Best of Show," which will unlock additional contests. There's even strategy in how to best use your berries: pick too many and the berry tree will disappear; plant berries, though, and a tree will grow. You can also build a Secret Base in special areas of the game, which you can decorate just like you can your room.

And let us not forget that Pokémon Sapphire has a kickin' multiplayer system, too. You can trade Pokémon, and link up to four players for incredible battles. The only downside is that you can't link up with the old Game Boy Color games. --Bryan Karsh

Pros:

Editorial Review

Though it looks like a toy, don't be fooled: the Nintendo GameCube is a powerful video game console that rightly deserves its place among the other next-generation game systems. In fact, its playful, appealing design and small size (the unit is a not-quite-cubed 6 inches) aren't the only features that set it apart from the others.

For starters, Nintendo has quite clearly made this a game-only machine. It doesn't try to play your CD collection, run your movies, read your e-mail, or store your MP3 files. The company has concentrated its efforts on games. All the prelaunch titles we've seen play smoothly, with bright, fast graphics and great sound. Nintendo says its engineers have removed traditional bottlenecks that have, in the past, slowed down processing. New components designed by IBM and MoSys, as well as a large-capacity secondary memory cache, keep instructions moving through the system's microprocessor (MPU) at peak levels. In English: the GameCube is optimized to push speed up while pushing costs down; hence its position at the lower end of the price spectrum.

The GameCube is the first Nintendo video game system to use a disc-based medium rather than cartridges for its games. Moving the software to disc media generally means lower development costs for the publishers, which, in turn, trickles down to the consumer not only in price, but also in availability and quality, as it's then easier to try out untested game ideas (Pikmin, anyone?). While most other systems likewise have their games stored on discs, the GameCube's 3-inch format is smaller than everyone else's, and is so designed to fit in a shirt pocket as much as to deter would-be software pirates.

Of course, the main advantage of the GameCube is that it's the home field of one of the world's premier game designers: Nintendo. While powerhouses Electronic Arts and Sega make games for all systems (including this one), you can play Nintendo games only on a Nintendo system. And Nintendo, you might recall, has been hitting them out of the park since it started with Donkey Kong. In fact, here's a roll call of characters and series you won't find on the other consoles: Mario, Legend of Zelda, Perfect Dark, Metroid, Kirby, and, of course, Pokémon. A few names that the GameCube will share with the other guys: Madden, Tony Hawk, Sonic, Batman, and Star Wars.

The system also comes with four built-in controller ports, so you can easily plug in extra controllers and let friends join in for the multiplayer games--it's even got a built-in handle so you can easily move it to a friend's house. It comes with two memory card slots for saving your progress through games, and there's the capacity for future expansion into the world of online gaming.

In short, the GameCube isn't an all-in-one entertainment system, and neither is it the most powerful of the modern video game consoles. But for video game enthusiasts who want to stick with their favorite characters, its value cannot be beat. --Porter B. Hall

5-0 out of 5 stars Fanboys, get some perspective.
Some of these reviews...Seriously.

Just because you like one console, doesn't mean you have to hate the others. Play what all consoles have to offer, you don't have to be a fanboy to one system...

Anyway, I bought my Gamecube on release, along with Smash Bros Melee. Now, I am a huge Nintendo fan, but I also own an Xbox so rest assured, I play games, not the consoles they come on. I don't care what game the console is on, it's the games that count.

Whilst the 'Cubes selection of games isn't as vast as the PS2s, the quality is a lot higher. Games like Mario, Zelda, Metroid Prime, Smash Bros cannot be matched, and can only be bought for the Nintendo Gamecube. This is main reason to buy a 'Cube, Nintendo games. There are other fantastic games available only to the 'Cube too, like Tales of Symphonia, and Viewtiful Joe.

If you are a casual gamer, get a PS2. The 'Cube has a lot of games for the more pro gamer; don't be fooled by the "child" like graphics, Nintendo games are all about gameplay.
Still put off by the child like graphics? Check out Metroid Prime: Echoes and Resident Evil 4, exclusive to 'Cube.

Finaly, anyone concerned about graphic power of Gamecube, it is much prettier graphically then the PS2. Resident Evil 4 has the best graphics of any console game made, even surpasing games of Xbox, which is more powerful.

So, to sum up, the 'Cube is a powerful console, with a great selection of exclusive games and a controller that is confortable to hold. If you don't play games that often, you might be better with a PlayStation 2, but if you consider yourself a pro gamer, check out the Nintendo Gamecube.
You won't regret it =)

Second, ALL of the screws included for the assembly of this item were the wrong size. None of them "grabbed" the wood. All needed to be replaced with a larger size wood screw at my cost.

Third, on one side of the toybox the holes drilled for the insertion of the cam nuts were drilled too deep.As a result, when the cams were tightened, the correspondind outside of the toybox popped out a bit adjoining to the cam.Its not sooo obvious, but definately visable. This only happened on one side of the toybox.

Four, this toybox is made from real wood, not MDF or particleboard. As a result, some natural flaws are visable. There is a large knot on the top of the toybox which was repaired. You can also see some drip marks from the poor paint job on the box.

Five, the hinges came pre-attached to the box.If there were attached to the lid, installation would have been 30min quicker. But since they were attached to the box itself, installation of the lid without an extra army of hands to help you is IMPOSSIBLE.I was working alone and found this portion of the assembly to be the most annoying.

Finally, the toybox includes the following hardware: wood screws, locking cams + cam posts, wooden dowels + glue, and some small screws for the hinges.NONE OF THE HARDWARE worked properly.Hinges were impossible to screw onto the lid.Wood screws were too small.Cams popped through the side walls of the toybox.

IN SUMMARY... I still like jardin products.I would NOT buy this particular toybox again.WOULD buy some of their other products.Their beds and pre-assembled furniture have been decent. When I contaced Dorel about this product they offered me replacement parts only, offering no other compensation or attention to this matter, but at least they answered their email.

4-0 out of 5 stars hinge tricky but great service
We bought this toy box after shopping many places. I wanted something that was versatile and safe. The one on display looked nice, but we noticed the saftey hinge missing and ripped up holes in the lid. We assumed it was damage from careless customers. The box went together easily exceptfor the hinge. The picture in the instruction sheet is somewhat misleading. We put the hinge on incorrectly causing the screws in the lid to pop out. Just like the display did. I called the manufacture. They emailed photos on how the hinge should be attatched. Only now the lid was damaged from before. They are mailing me a new lid for free! GREAT SERVICE! Before installing hinge I would suggest calling company and asking for the photos to avoid the confusion. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What a Game!!!
WOW! I can't believe how much fun this game is! The whole 'real time' thing is really cool. You get on, and if it's dark outside, it's dark on the game.Tom Nook's general store "Nook's Cranny" closes at 10:00 and re-opens the next day at 9:00.
When you get in the game you have to name your character and the town you live in, the only problem is that you only have 1000 bells (the currency in the game) and the teeny tiny house you get costs 19,800 bells. So you have to work part-time in Nook's store. He gives you lots of odd jobs to do, such as posting adds for his store and running packages to and fro.
There are endless things to do, you can fish, shake trees for cherries, 100 bells and other things (but be warned! You can knock a beehive out... and I'll let you figure out what happens next!) You can change your clothes, do favors for neighbors, mail letters...
There are lots of neighbors to talk to, and new ones are always moving in. Sometimes they'll send you letters with gifts attached!
I'm yet to find the 'end' of THIS game!
This is an awsome game I'd reccomend to ANYONE!

5-0 out of 5 stars BANANAS
I recently left home to live on my college campus and let's just say that Animal Crossing soon became the only education I would be receiving. Yeah, I know it sounds bad...but it really wasnt! (I managed scrape up A's and B's at the end of semesters). I was introduced to this delightful game by none other than my lovely room-mate and the bubbly town of OBX soon became my home away from home! This game is superb and should be ranked in a class by itself...at times it doesn't feel like a game but like LIFE. There are neighbours with various personalities, traveling guests, a local shopping center, fishing, fruit-collecting, and so much more that are simple but heart-warming. NOW! Stop reading reviews and go buy the game TRUST ME on this one, it is worth the buy...:-)

5-0 out of 5 stars Strangely addicting
Back before this came out, I remember being excited to give it a try mostly because I wanted to get those old NES games on here. Well after I got it, I became hopelessly addicted to further expanding my house and its furnishings as did some of my other friends. If you've somehow managed to stay away from this game, you really do need to give it a chance. Don't be turned off by the graphics because although they look kiddie and dated, they get the job done. Animal Crossing is one of the reasons why Nintendo is so good at delivering an innovative experience that no other company, besides a small few, can seem to create. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The Heroscape line of toys is like the all-star game of make believe. While other games might focus on a specific era of history, the age of chivalry, perhaps, or the Jurassic period, Heroscape puts everyone together on one enormous madcap battlefield. Vikings, World War II soldiers, ninjas, mutant monsters, samurais, dinosaurs, dragons, they’re all there, done up as tiny, highly detailed figure. It would be sort of comic if all the players didn’t look so gosh-darn serious. 85 interlocking terrain tiles are also included so you can craft exactly the landscape you wish for all the action to happen on. Multiple dice are featured along with game cards and detailed instructions on how to play. We liked the boundless imagination of this game and the open-minded versatility of its imaginary protagonists. --Charlie Williams ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Game - Storage system needed
This game is very well made, very intuitive game play and all hand painted characters are well designed. The only negative on this entire game is finding a way to store it when it is not being played. The box it comes in is totally useless and will not easily allow you to put the game back into it once done (although I have come close to getting it all in on a few occasions). My advice is purchase a large plastic container to store it in when you purchase the game, but I highly recomend purchasing the game, you will be glad you did!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Interactive Game
This game really brings my son & I together & he's learning so much that he doesn't realize he's learning - like creative problem solving!!!Definitely worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game even for younger children...
Recently I've been searching for more traditional (i.e. board) games for my 5 year old son in an effort to (1) get him away from all the electronic goodies he uses and (2) spend some quality family time with him.I tried some of the common old style board games (Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, SORRY!, etc...) but they didn't hold his interest for more than a few minutes.Knowing that he's just a year or two from being introduced to YuGiOh or Pokemon or whatever else his peers are into these days, I considered some of those games to try out with him.But being able to understand those games is just too far away for him right now and I couldn't see a way to simplify them so that he could at least get a foot hold on the learning curve.

So, while browsing the game isle at my local Wal-Mart I notice HeroScape.I was pretty sure the little action figures would capture his attention which is the first step in getting him going on any game. After doing some research on the game (www.heroscape.com takes you to a great site with all sorts of demos and information about the game) and after reading all of the reviews here on Amazon, I felt like I couldn't go that wrong trying it out. What made me more comfortable was the fact that there are two modes of play you can use... a basic mode and an advanced mode.So I made the purchase.I knew I made a good choice the first night I showed him the game.He was thoroughly fascinated with all of the little characters (particularly with the dragon and the guy who rides the dinosaur). However, at 5 years old, I knew he wasn't interested in the rules even in the basic mode of play so I simplified things... a lot.I set up the terrain tiles in a simple landscape layout strictly for aesthetic value and scattered some figures at either side of the board.I explained to him that he can choose which character he wants to control and which he wants to attack. No movement rules... just a good guy and a bad guy. Then I showed him that we each role ten dice (use the red or blue but not both as they're different), if he has more "face ups" than I have, he wins and gets to capture my character... if not I win and capture his.If we tie then we roll the 20 sided dice to see who gets the highest number and then that person wins. Those are the only rules in our game. And that is one of the biggest features of this game...you can make it whatever you like.I tell stories as we play that incorporate the characters on the board and his face is just lit up with imagination.

I was pretty sure that if he liked it, this game was going to help teach him creative thinking and strategy (once he evolved out of "5 year old mode") but it really hadn't occurred to me that his math skills would be polished while we play. For the 2 or so hours we played (yeah, see if "Candy Land" can hold a 5 year old's attention that long) he was clearly picking up speed counting his dice, counting mine, and comparing values.I am extremely pleased with this game, and to be quite honest, I too think its fun to play and I'm sure as we move into the more advanced modes it will be even better.

One note about something my wife said when I showed her the game... she was afraid it was going to be like Dungeons and Dragons. In other words she was concerned that it would be too violent or somehow otherwise unhealthy.Well, first of all, I explained D&D wasn't like that (but that's another story) and second, that there is nothing more violent about this game than playing cops and robbers, cowboys and indians, or even little green army men.You get out of it what you put into it.For instance, our characters don't die, they get captured.

I agree with pretty much all of the positive reviews here on Amazon for this game and also agree with the issue of the box being too small to get everything back into once you take it out. Will it all fit again?Yes, but that's no small task and its much easier to get a rubbermaid container and use that with some zip-lock sandwich bags or something for the smaller parts.

In summary, this is a fantastic game that can be adapted to younger players if the parents use a bit of imagination.I think it will grow with the child at the child's pace and rival any game that's on the shelf now.Its expandable as well with new packs of characters coming out from time to time.I hope this helps people considering this game to try it out, I really think you'll be glad you did.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Bed!!!!
We just got this bed for our 3 year old and he loves it.I had read reviews that it was not a sturdy bed, but that is just not the case.He loves to sleep in it - this is the first time he has not wanted to sleep in our bed in 3 years. He jumps and plays in his "Tom".The little tracks that are molded in the side rails are perfected for all his Thomas Friends to sleep with him - and durring the day play with them there. The front storage bin is a nice place to be able to pick them up and get tiem out of the way for mom - to clean. If your little one likes Thomas, then this is the very best bed!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Bed!
I just bought this bed for my 2 year old who refused to sleep in his own bed for the past 8 months. While putting it together he keeps saying "choo-choo bed".We've made progress in the past week since we've had it, he's slept two nights and one nap in it!Although it says it needs plywood support, the springs from a regular crib fit perfectly; it's what we used.

We love this bed.It even holds mom or dad when he needs some extra cuddling ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Dont Buy
Okay where to start, hmm, ok this game was supposed to be you can do what you want, when you want and its supposed to be the best.Well its not.First your limited to some missions, some boring and others difficult, and you go through a mediocre story line that will literlly take you about 2 hours. This game doesnt introduce anything special to the RPG genre,so dont bother with it.If your looking for a good RPG i recommend Star Wars Knights of the Old Repuiblic,Morrowind, and KOTOR 2.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best RPG I have ever played.
It didn't win best RPG of the year for no reason. Believe the hype and ignore the haters. Get the game. No online play was the only glitch.

1-0 out of 5 stars Looking for a good RPG on the Xbox? Look elsewhere.
There was a lot of hype surrounding this game and how it was going to be a go-anywhere, do-anything, alpha and omega of role playing games.

It wasn't.

It's like they attempted to cross a RPG with The Sims, and came out with something that was not as entertaining as either.

The game play was linear, basically limiting you to choosing from a pool of missions of which you could accept or decline.

The overarching "story" was.... best described as a delusional childhood power fantasy, which might appeal to the type of person that likes TV cartoons like Dragonball Z.

The mini-quests were not too bad, but seemed contrived and without context at times.

The dynamics of interacting with the other denizens of the game were equally lackluster, culminating in how stupid getting married was. You woo a person by giving them gifts and doing stupid showboating stuff like flexing muscles at them. And then if the woo'ed character likes you enough, asks you to marry them. Then you've got to go get a wedding ring and give it to them--by which time they may no longer like you and you have to lavish them with gifts and more muscle flexing. Then you get married. Then you have to buy a house to live in. Then you have to give more gifts and flex. Then there might be a "come to bed" and some "oh" and "ah" noises on a black screen. Then you're back to "more gifts and flexing, please!" It's so aweful it's outright comical.

If you decide to not be an adventurer, you can do all kinds of exciting things to make a living. Like, say, fish in ponds and sell the fish. Or buy a couple houses and rent them out and drop by once in a while to collect the rent manually. Or buy items that are a little cheaper in one town and go to the next town where they fetch a slightly higher price and sell them there. The excitement never starts!

One of the most annoying aspects of the game is the ever-badgering, intrusive narrator-that-is-actually-a-character-at-the-Hero's-Guild voice. Constantly chiming in with such things as "Your health is low!" or "You have a new quest card!", as if he manually monitored all heroes and alerted them to stuff like that through a cell phone. There's a nice health bar on the screen where you can clearly see your health is low (or not). And how hard would it be to have a villager come up and ask for your help, rather than having the disembodied voice alert you that there is a "quest card" for you at the guild. It completely ruins the immersiveness of the game.

All in all, definitely take a pass on this game. If you're looking for a good story in an RPG format, I'd recommend Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic over Fable any day of the week. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Bitter disappointment.
What a let-down this game is.Seriously, is it too much to ask for a solid flying game like Star Fox 64 was?I mean getting out and walking around shooting things is great and all, but this is a STAR FOX game, and the last thing I would buy a Star Fox game for is to run around and blow things up, especially when there are other games out there that fulfill that type of game play so much better.I was expecting the bulk of this game to be spent flying around in an R-Wing....boy was I wrong.

Do yourself a favor if you've never bought a Star Fox game before, go to a pawn shop, get a N64 and buy Star Fox 64.You'll thank me when it's over.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid!
Fox has done it again. Nintendo always revamps its games and this is no exception. Graphics are good enough to make Starfox: Adventures look like Starfox 64! Beatiful explosion effects and lasers. Sound is beautiful, gameplay is simple to learn but hard to master. I love this game, and I reccommend it to Starfox veterans or those fresh out of video game boot camp. Speaking of military stuff remember 4 player combat, because someday you'll hear some dude screaming "Remember the Titanian planes!" and then hear his Arwing get shot down.

2-0 out of 5 stars Okay
I was about to give this game a 1 star due to frausration in the levels ' but i decided to let it slide ' now im a beginner to the starfox games and i saw starfox assault on the shelves so i picked it up today i played it and the levels and gameplay are confusing as hell you ll here a character call out for help but you ll half to shoot down the enemy who is after them but sometime the enemy is invisible from the attack making it impossible to hit even the ground enemies are sometime invisible from getting hit ' maybe its because im a beginner but i doubt it ' and the levels are hard and difficult ' But if youre new to the starfox games get starfox adventures first because i think fox is not in no annoying wing

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a good choice for younger kids
My 4 yr old is crazy about The Incredibles and counted the days until his Incredibles game arrived in the mail. It was very disappointing. It is a lot of punching and being shot at and that's about it. Since The Incredibles appeal to a very large and young audience (and I know older folks too). I really thought the game would be more appropriate for younger children. It's not. My son loves Zelda, Urbz, and Mario Kart but unfortunatelythis was a waste of money and a big disappointment for a great little guy.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Intelligent Nod
I have yet to play Advance Wars 1 or 2, Intelligent Systems' modern war/strategy series for the GBA, but I can venture an educated guess that Fire Emblem shares a lot in common with it.Fire Emblem is a strategy RPG reminiscent of the Shining Force series for the Genesis, but it's been forever for me to make detailed comparisons of the two. Fans of Shining Force, Ogre Battle, and/or Advance Wars will probably find a lot to like.

Fire Emblem will be fairly easy for those experienced in these kinds of games. Most of the challenge presents itself in keeping your combatants alive, because if they are killed during battle, you won't be getting a chance to get them back. Not even a chance to revive them from defeat (unlike, for example, the popular Final Fantasy Tactics, where you had up to three turns to revive a fallen comrade). This can present a problem if you don't use tight and well-thought out tactics, because the enemy will always jump at the opportunity to kill the weakest party members within range.Fortunately, there's an ability to "rescue" other members, and even pass them off to others in your group.Anyway, I think it's pretty neat that you can't get them back.It adds an urgent dynamic to the game and forces you to really think your moves through. After the first part of the game, it even tells what the characters who didn't make it to the end went on to do with their lives. Some followed the party (although injured and unable to fight), while others went their separate ways.

In battle, it is prudent that you search out the most advantageous terrain (forests, forts) and engage from there. Also, weapon selection is an important factor, as certain weapons are good against some, bad against others.Rounding out the standard and borrowed strategy-RPG elements is the class system, albeit a limited one (nothing on the scale of an FFT or Tactics Ogre; more like Shining Force).Your units can advance in class with a specific item after reaching level 10.

One thing worth mentioning in Fire Emblem is that enemy forces, on some battlefields, are concealed within fog or darkness. The limited visibility adds another layer of danger to the combat, which can be partially alleviated with some items. However, this element only somewhat succeeds.I wonder if the developers could have made it where the limited visibility worked both ways, where the enemy had no way of knowing where you are, and would occasionally stumble into a big pack of your units (I wonder, but I think I know the answer to that one).More importantly, a stealth element is missing in the game, perhaps the ability to sneak up on an enemy without them knowing about your approach.

So, what drives all this fighting in Fire Emblem? The first part of the game has you controlling Lyn, a young woman from the Plains of Sacae, whose family was murdered by bandits, and who is of royal lineage in a far off Kingdom. Her journey takes her to the castle in search of her ailing Grandfather, in order to stop his vengeful brother from usurping the throne. But we find out that this is just a small part of a bigger scheme.Big surprise, huh?The story is ok, and the characters are ok, and the dialogue and writing might be the strongest aspect. However, there's nothing remotely profound or emotional in the melodramatic delivery of the game's story, but that's the norm for video games. Oh well.Instead, you end up developing an attachment to the characters for how well they fight in battle, cheering them on during encounters and hoping they don't get killed. The game succeeds in this.

A Final Fantasy Tactics this is not. It's not dynamic or deep enough in both its gameplay and story and sentiment. However, I'd argue that it's slightly better than Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for the GBA.Both games are derivative of what has come, but Fire Emblem's not stepping backwards--only nodding to the past.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good strategy/rpg title for the GBA/DS
This game is an excellent strategy title for your Gameboy and will give you dozens of hours of gameply. (My first go through the game was over 24 hours total)

The characters are all pretty much interesting in this game and there are tons of them to pick and choose on missions. The variety of the units and their personalities are what make this game so enjoyable.

And if a unit dies then its dead. No 1-ups or resurrection in this game. If your character dies then be prepared to never see them again.
This really keeps you on your toes as wounded units need rescuers and backup.
However, this can be a pain to play a mission for over an hour then have the boss kill them in one hit, thus causing you to start the level over again...

All in all this is simple to learn, yet highly entertaining game. Pick it up if youre missing some a challenging and engrossing strategy game.

2-0 out of 5 stars Saved games reset - *sigh*
A fun strategy game overall, but has a major flaw - I can't stand any game that does not let you save anytime you want.I know this game allows you to save at anytime, but the game auto saves for you at the last turn, so that when you die you cannot revert to where you originally saved.I know the designers of Fire Emblem did this so to make the game more challenging or "realistic", so that players can't "cheat" by playing from that save point over and over again, but it actually makes the game more annoying and frustrating. If you character dies, by lets say a way to powerful and out of balanced mini boss attacking you and killing you with one shot, you have to start the whole stupid level over again.

Otherwise, this game would have received 5 stars - trust me, you'll get frustrated and annoyed the 100th time you main character dies, and you are forced to play the level over again. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this game is awesome! It's a really cool game!
When I first played Pokemon Stadium, I looked for other Pokemon games, so I found this. It hs a unique story plot too it. You have too rescue Shadow Pokemon, and open the door to their hearts. Ther's this guy that stole a snagging machine so he could snag shadow pokemon, and a girl who can tell which pokemon are shadows. And the cool thing is that you can nam them yourself, so they suit you.
You start out with 2 pokemon, but as youi snag more you will end up with a lot more! The only thing that isn't cool is Battle Mode. You have to have
1. a gameboy advance
2. a link cable
3. either pokemon shappire, or pokemon fire
Me or any of myfriends, don't have those games so we can't battle.(wahh!!!)
But otherwise then that this game rocks! And I think that any pokemon fan, or even people who are just experincing it should buy this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars pretty cool game
This game is very fun even for me because i stopped playin pokemon games for like 1 year but this was really fun. The graphics to me look really cool like when your pokemon evolve.

There are good points and bad points i shall tell u about. The bad part is the people dont actually talk just the transcript comes. Also its strange because u can only catch "specific pokemon" not the ones you want to catch. You can only snag specific pokemon. And if u miss it u cant try to catch it again and that means no ho-oh!!!!!!!!!!

Now i prefer you save before goin to any of the main pple like miror b or dakim because dakim has entei! For pokemon lovers this game is really cool.

Good parts are well its really fun and addictive oh ya i forgot to tell u about group battle. You need a gameboy advance or sp and that pak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! which is pretty sad. It looks cool on the ads and it is cool but its not wat i expected but its stil fun. There are only 48 pokemon which u can snag in the game. Even in like ruby or sapphire or any of those games there are like 150 pokemon. A pretty cool game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but could've been better
As a long time Pokemon fan I was slightly dissapointed by this game, I mean it was good, but I think it should've been 2 games. The part I enjoyed the most (the actuall "Colosseum" part), with the battle mountian and stadium, I think could've had a few more features if it had been a game by itself. The 100 trainer knock out challenge, with your Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red, Leaf Green, or Story Mode pokemon, is the funnest aspect of the game. The Story Mode could have been better, quite frankly, I'd expected a little more from the first 3D pokemon RPG. The whole concept of "snagging" pokemon from trainers, and then purifying them is a little lacking, and doesn't work as well as catching wild pokemon. It would have been better if there had been more pokemon to choose from, there weren't a whole lot of good pokemon to snag. The best pokemon in the game are your starters, espeon and umbreon. Also, it's hard to have all you're pokemon at high levels by the time of the final battle; because they can't go up any levels before they are purified, and that takes awhile! If I were to re-do Story Mose, I'd stick soley with espeon and umbreon the whole game! Another thing I'd like to note is that all battles in Story mode are double battles (where you use 2 pokemon at once), which isn't nessearely a bad thing. It's not that Story Mode isn't fun, I just didn't feel it lived up to its Gameboy counterparts. I'm eager to see if the newely annouced sequel to Colosseum, currently titled: Pokemon XD, Dark Winds Dark Lugia, does a better job than Colosseum. I have heard that there will be a wider range of pokemon to snag, that's a start. In this new game, it seems you will start with a Lv.5 eevee (the un-evloved form of espeon and umbreon, as well as flareon, jolteon, and vaporeon), it seems you will probably get to pick your "eon" this time. Anyway, bottom line is, if you're a pokemon fan, I recommed getting Coloseum, it's great to see your Gameboy pokemon battling on the 100 trainer challenge, and it is an experiance to play a pokemon RPG in 3D. Overall, it really is a good game. ... Read more
