5-0 out of 5 stars So much better than a gameboy!
My first grader loves this game/toy. It is great for rainy days or car rides (especially with headphones) and it isn't just an empty gaming experience as it is all learning based.Sad but true, I've even learned a few social studies facts that I should have known as a 1st or 2nd grader!!!The head to head game is a lot of fun and my daughter really loves to beat Dad at that.
Bottom line, it is entertaining, it is educational, and my daughter enjoys playing it. In fact, she has asked for the next higher grade level cartridge...and I am only too happy to oblige!

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally - All in One!Great Toy!
We really like the multi-subject format, as my son was asking for multiple Turbo Twists (Spelling, Math, Fact Blaster), and that wasn't going to happen. It holds his attention, and in fact, the adults pick it up and play with it as well.Very happy with this product - glad Santa brought it! They just need to come out with a carrying case of some sort, so we stop misplacing the cartridges!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Fun Way to Learn
My first grader really likes this.I wish the screen was in color and had a backlight but the adjustable volume is wonderful!I'm learning a few things from this toy too! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
Another of my 3 year old's collection - he loves it and has mastered it well.Very well done.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finding Nemo
My son loves this game. He likes to read with it. I think it is a nice addition to the collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game !
My 4YO son loves this cartridge. The children have a choice of reading the Nemo story or playing one of four games. My son does not really like the story, but it is cute. Admittedly it is difficult for an electronic toy to beat mom's reading!

The games are great. They all have multiple skill levels and are fun and challenging. I often have to force my son to let his Leapster "rest awhile". His favorite game is trying to find the fish in the deep dark ocean. On level 2 words are displayed and you have to find the fish by listening for where the word sound is the loudest. Unfortunately, there are a limited number of fish, but my kid hasn't noticed, he is happy every time he finds one. And, instead of sounding out the A like they do with the other letters, they say "Ay".

The Nemo cartridge also has a hide-n-seek game which teaches comprehension skills. Various Nemo characters and props appear in bubbles and the Leapster asks a question such as "Who helped Nemo escape from the tank?" and the child would need to select the "Gill" bubble. I haven't seen logic games like that on the other cartridge we have.

Overall, the characters are cute, the games are educational and my kid loves it. I'd give this more stars if that were possible! ... Read more

Editorial Review

The Pixter is like a personal digital assistant (PDA) for kids. But instead of storing boring appointments and phone numbers, they get to draw, do puzzles, and learn a little, too. The Pixter is about the size of a small book, and has a pretty solid weight to it. It's made out of brightly colored and durable plastic. The main action of this toy is drawing with an attached stylus. The Color Pixter offers much better graphics then the black and white version, which comes in handy with activities like Paint-by-Numbers and Connect-the-Dots. You can draw a picture free form, or you can use one of the starter backgrounds. There are tool buttons, like on a PDA, that give you access to fun stamps, special effects, and the eraser button. You can also save your creation in the Pixter's memory. There are some boppy tunes playing along with all this creative activity, but luckily for parents, there's also a jack for headphones and a volume adjuster. An expansion slot on top of the Pixter accepts ROM-based expansion cards that contain additional software and games. Requires 4 "AA" batteries. (Not included.) --Megan Sullivan ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy Pixter...Go for a Leapster
My 3-year-old loves her Leapster and plays with it in the car on long trips as well as in the house when I have to do things that leave her on her own. That's why, when I saw what looked like really fun and educational games for the Pixter, I put it on her wish list for her birthday. It'll be twice as much fun when there are more games from which to choose, I thought. But it's turned out to be a major disappointment. The screen is grainy, the interface is not intuitive, and one really has to press hard to get the screen to recognize the stylus. It's not easy even for an adult! The drawings skip and you can't drag items once they're placed: You never know where they're going to be centered before you place them. The games are not as educational as those on the Leapster, either. We bought Global Passport, Creative Genius, Barbie Fashion Show, Pet Shop, and Symphony Painter (that one is the worst!). She's using the Pet Shop a little, but that's it. Don't waste your money. Go for the Leapster...It's elegant and fun with a clear picture and sound. Now I wish I'd taken to heart the previous reviewer who bought the Leapster instead because I'm stuck with all this expensive useless nonsense. I had also bought the math, Barbie writing and Clifford cartridges, but I'm going to return those because they were bought in a brick and mortar store and haven'tyet been opened.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun!
How cool is this?! A color computer for little hands. It is a great set.The game cartridges that go along make it just as exciting as any gaming system. The basics to it are drawing and other artistic works such as stickers, shapes and fill-in colors. My son got one at the age of 4 and loved it.He broke the first one by falling on the screen, but we bought a new one because of the use of the first one. Now, nearly 2 years later, he is expanding his artistic talents by drawing with different styled lines, creating his own coloring themes and the like. Works great, day or night, as the screen is lit.We often take ours in the car because of the headphone option and volume control.

1-0 out of 5 stars Get a Leapster instead
I was very disapointed in the Pixter. We returned ours and got a Leapster. The graphics and controls are so much better on the Leapster and the games are much more fun and educational. Also the Leapster is much more intuitive, a child can pick up a Leapster and figure everything out - there is even a "hint" button if the child gets stuck. A child that gets stuck with the Pixter can only look at the grainy screen and wonder where they went wrong. This toy is not worth the money. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT STUFF
I purchased this for my 3 yr old, and she LOVES it--she just had a preschool screening and they said that she is doing Kindergarten level skills--It is all due to the Leapster--

She loves the games, The princess songs and games are great!

4-0 out of 5 stars fun game
My daughter really loved this game!!All of leapster's games are always fun and educational.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not so great
I just bought this for my 3 year old and I have to say that compared to the other games, this one is not great at all. My daughter finds it too difficult and I think the games are boring. The Dora and Nemo games are far superior to this one and my daughter has played with those two games on and off for over a month. I'm glad I got this on sale because it didn't hold my daughters attention for even 5 minutes- I'm hoping that it will be more fun when she gets a little more coordinated but I don't think so. ... Editorial Review

If there's anyone out there who thinks that the Pokemon craze would just be another fad, disappearing from public consciousness in a matter of months, well, think again. The popularity of the Japanese monster collecting game shows no sign of slowing and may in fact be growing thanks to improving technology, evidenced in new products such as this hand held Pokedex. It features electronically stored information on all 200 Pokemon Advanced monsters and features such as personalization and tracking up to six of your favorite Pokemon. You can earn trainer points as you capture the various critters on various different terrains offered. Beyond the traditional capture game, there are other challenges available including a Pokemon quiz and a new game where you help Mudkip run without tiring the poor guy out. The Pokedex may not appeal to someone who isn't already a Pokemon fan but for those who are hooked, it's a lot of fun. Three AAA batteries are required but not included. --Charlie Williams ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Pokedex Advanced
This toy ROCKS! And I thought that the first Pokedex that was in stores was cool! This is WAY better! It actually looks like the real thing from the show! you can even catch pokemon, something that you could never, EVER do in the first one, even find pokemon in a new, cool way, by type, habitat and alphabetical!
I give it 2 thumbs up!

1-0 out of 5 stars ZERO STARS!!!This Item SUCKS! (for lack of a better word)
I have bought 2 of these and BOTH broke in less than 5 minutes. The first one's battery fell out as soon as my son started playing with it and his grandfather assumed he would just put the battery back in, but it didn't fix it.The screen went blank and it did not work after that.It still doesn't.Then I thought it was a "dud" Pokedex so I bought another one for my son.He played it for about 2 minutes and all the sudden the screen froze and it started making a clicking and humming sound.I took out the battery in hopes to "refresh" the Pokedex and even after taking the battery out it STILL made the noises!!So I put the battery back in, but it didn't fix it.For 2 months the clicking and humming sounds went on and on and on.I wasted $60.00 on these pieces of junk!)@(#!

My 9 yr daughter got this for her birthday. She loves it.I love it.The cartridges are easy to remove and install. The unit itself is easy to handle. And the variety of software available makes it a fun, and educational game. The best of both worlds. Now that my daughter has one, my 3 yr old son wants one.I'm afraid his birthday will be a repeat of her's, gift wise, anyway.

Today’s video games with all their bells and whistles had to begin somewhere, and that somewhere was your living room, in, say, 1982.Remember Asteroids, Missile Command, and Breakout? How about Centipede, Adventure and Gravitar? This TV Games Video System--just a "smart" joystick and nothing else--delivers 10 classic games in all. The joystick has the typical up-down-left-right movements, and single functions to select, start, and reset games. Front-and-center is a big, red fire button ("fire" being the only way to propel or kill things back then). The unit hooks up to your TV via those yellow and white AV output jacks (which should already be on your TV or VCR), and requires 4 "AA" batteries. --Diane Beall ... Read more

This toy is awesome! It has great gmes including:CENTIPEDE, MISSILE COMMAND, ASTEROIDS, BREAKOUT, YAR'S REVENGE, ADVENTURE, VOLLEYBALL, PONG, GRAVATAR, and CIRCUS ATARI. I have had no problems. It's so easy too! All the great classics for $20.00! Right there at home! It is not a waste of money at all!

4-0 out of 5 stars Old flashback classics - did Breakout® get weird?
I was a fanatic of the Atari 2600 - I owned one and I still have preserved it today. Yes, these games reminiscent me to the olden days playin' on me 2600. Even it is also imitating the traditional Atari 2600 controller!

Downside:

Breakout® is a neat conversion though the problems with Breakout® is that the paddle sensitivity is too hard, which means it's too fast. These don't fit well for the Atari controller and it was designed to play on the Atari Paddle, that was another add-on controller that you turn on a scrolling wheel.

Does your Atari 2600 doesn't work anymore? Have you not preserved it? Do you miss those kind of games and want to go flasback style? Then this television game is for you! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Earth to Little Brothers!
My little brother got this Plug & Play game on his 7th birthday. His favorite game is Pole Position, which is a racing game. He played it non-stop. I warned him to turn the game off so that he would not waste the battery energy. He did not listen to me, and eventually, the batteries ran down.

My recommendation is NOT to give this Plug & Play game to someone who will play it non-stop, because BATTERIES ARE NOT FREE!

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect
I have the Spongebob and Namco 1 version and are not that fun. But when I got this,it was so addicting

Ms Pacman 2/5
This is why it's 4 stars. The joystick on this game will get you mad. Try not to play it.

Galaga 5/5
My favourite game. Except Bosconian is better. Galaga is just like the original

Pole Position 5/5
Best Joystick movement ever. I tried it first and loved it

Mappy 4/5
Probulay the lamest game in history. A mouse being chased by cats? Lame lame lame!

Xevious 3/5
This game is really wierd but contronls work great.

Overall 4/5
It would have been a 5 star if Ms. Pacman's contoler didn't sulk. Buy it! It's worth the money!

3-0 out of 5 stars It's good...if you like running into ghosts a lot.
OK so, the title makes it sounds like I didn't enjoy this. Don't get me wrong, I did. Being an arcade lover, I was excited about this. And disappointed as well.

You know those Ms.Pac-Man/Galaga reunion machines that are quite popular? Well having seen those at restaurants and enjoying them a lot, I figured that these would be like those. Eh...no.

My first complaint is Ms.Pac-Man. The original used a 4-way joystick. (Up, Down, Left, Right) The joystick in this thing is 8-way. (For the flying game Xevious.) Now you might be thinking "Hey! If it's eight way, you'd be able to play a four way game easily!" Well, yes and no. All right, Picture this: You are running Thru the maze, Blinky (the red one) right on your tail. You are on your last life, and you don't think you are going to make it. Suddenly you see Salvation! A Power Pellet! You are inches away from it and all...you...have to...do is...TURN LEFT! TURN LEFT! WHY WON'T IT TURN LEFT?! The words "Game Over" flash on the screen, as you realize you weren't holding left you were holding up left. BAM! Goes your controller as it smacks the wall.
My other complaint is it goes way to slow. I mean this is easier for beginners, I guess. I don't want easier. I want to feel adrenaline pump thru my veins as I dodge ghosts and eat pellets.

The other reason I bought this thing: Galaga. Holy crap, I love Galaga.

They murdered it.

First, you can't hold down the fire button. This seems like a stupid thing to complain about, I know. But it really affects the game play. Second in the original you can hide in sides for safety. And overall, playing Galaga on this thing isn't enjoyable at all.

Xevious: I have never played the original of this game, so I can't compare it. I don't really like this game, but that is preference.

Pole Position is just fun. No complaints.

With all that complaining about Galaga and Ms.Pac-Man you would think that I would give this Plug and Play game a lower score. So, what's its saving grace? Mappy. I love Mappy. So great. The music, the game play the quirky graphics, all of it!

I have one little thing that bugs me about the whole thing in general. Doesn't save your high score. In fact, when I got the high score in Mappy, I had to take a picture of it to show it to my friends.

Over all, if you are going into this expecting the glory of the originals then you are going to be disappointed. However, if you don't mind watered down versions of them, and a few minor annoyances, then this will tide you over until you convince your parents to go to the restaurant with the small arcade in the corner. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have for every preschooler
My son received this video for his 4th birthday from his aunt. After watching it over and over for 2 days straight, not only did our son know the sound of every letter, but had also learned to create words. I only wish there was another video to continue after this one, however, it taught my son to start creating words on his own, and within a few short months, he was reading on a 1st grade level. He is not yet 5 and is reading 2nd grade books with little to no help. Definitely worth the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars works miracles
My son has been in speach therapy for 1 1/2 years. He did not start talking till he was 2 1/2.Now a 4 year old, he is as stubborn as I am and wouldn't sing the alphabet song with me, nothing I did could encourage him to learn his letters or his numbers.I stumbled onto this at our base exchange and he loved it.I would let him play with the sample one when we came into the store.I brought my husband to show him how interested he was in the system. So we made the investment.I am amazed. He got this system from Santa for Christmas with the letter factory cartridge and by the beginning of February, he knew all his letters of the alphabet and what sounds they make!He learned the proper way to make the L sound (hard for him)and when I correct him he starts singing the leapster song.He loves this game.I have since (March) purchased the Word factory and he is trying to READ!!He loves the "sticky letters" concept.I can't believe how well these games are made as to hold the attention of a very busy 4 year old! Who is no longer in speach therapy :)

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Do you have hours of time to waste?
If so, then go and buy one.I bought this for my 8 yr. old. When I saw it on the shelf, I thought WOW! what a bargain (for 5 games)and all you do is plug it in.Well I soon discovered why it was only $20.00.The first unit we had constantly cut-off while playing. The second unit we had, the picture faded in and out while playing. The third unit did all of the above.I can understand that sometimes things don't work. But for three to be defective is terrible.I even got the third one from a different store in the hope that one from a different "batch" would work.My daughter liked the games so much (when she could play them), that I went out of my way to find one that worked.I don't feel like Jakks Pacific Inc. has very much respect for their customers. At least not enough to make, and test a product to ensure its quality.I would have been willing to pay an extra $5.00 for the game.Maybe if they would have raised the price $1 or $2 then they could afford some quality assurance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Disney Domination
I have purchased 4 different plug and play games and by far this one is definitely the best! I am totally addicted to the Simba tetris-like game. I also enjoy the Timon and Aladdin games. The only that I didn't care too much for was the Donald Duck Golf Game. Regardless, I think that the graphics are great and I hope that they will continue this series with other disney cartoons.

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!
Very simple to hook to a tv, from box to playing games the first time is approx. 2 min. and that includes reading the directions in that time frame!

I was surprised at how great the graphics were on this game, didn't expect to much because of the cost.
The games are fun, for kids or adults.

I'll be purchasing a few more of these for Christmas gifts!
This was truly a fantastic game package at a fantastic price.

Editorial Review

This microcosm of Neopets is a portable world for your pocket. Meridell, the land of heroes and legends that was long hidden within Neopia has now been uncovered and is delightfully rendered here in miniature. The pocket Neopet world folds up into a small gold colored pod that you can take anywhere. Open up the case and you can play with your three Neopets: Lupe, Draik, and Lxi. Name them, choose their personalities and preferences, and then proceed to play with, feed, and generally care for them. The sensors in the electronic ports they sit in know which pet you're playing with. There are six games you can play on the small LCD screen with four toggle buttons--they aren't the most engaging games, but winning them scores you points you'll need to buy food and toys for your pet. If you don't give your pet everything it needs, it will run away. Of course, you can always reprogram it to come back to you. There are three little slots to tuck the pets neatly into when you close up the case and hit the road. --Megan Sullivan ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mystery Island neopets
This review is supposed to be for Meridell:pocket neopet, but I have a Mystery Island pocket neopet. I like it a lot becuase I love kougras and Mystery island. I think you should buy this toy because it teaches kids responsibility. And it has four of the best neopets games. one of the four is a slots game. Anyway, I think that all of them would be a great toy.

sincerly,
Quigley

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this toy! It's sooooo cool!
I have a Aisha and the kacheek, my Aisha is already 4 days old! and while playing in the Lost Desert, it found 2,000 NP on the ground! I now have at least 20,000 NP of hard work, I feed mine two times a day, and gave it a petpet, but somehow the petpet was gone the last time I checked :(, but at least my pet hasn't died! I love this toy, if you have a pet and love it and like to spoil it, but can't take it everywhere with you, get a pocket neopet! I'm in Middle school, I'm an 8th grader and I take my pet to school everyday, I'm 14 years old and have been playing neopets for about 2 years (almost) if other people say when you leave it on when you sleep and it runs away, that's so not true, I leave mine on all night and it turns off by itself but the clock keeps going, I my pet, it's one of the best pocket pet I could ever ask for! I love this pet, neopets rocks! [...] I stongly recommend this toy, it'll be fun! I'm working on keeping my pet alive for 365 days (1 year)! If you love neopets and you'd like to take care of them 24/7, then you can! Buy a pocket neopet today!

5-0 out of 5 stars WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?
It's a great toy! I got it for my 13th B-day... i know the graphics are not soo good but what could you expect for 20$? It has 6 great games including Turmac Roll, Kiss the mortog, Ultimate Bullsye, Turtle Racing and a new game Negg drop! As you rule each level you get more NP's and a trophy! It's perfect for loooong trips!!! Comes with 3 neopets, a bank account, 3 shops (including petpet shop) also i hear people are saying that its hard to get np but if try hard you will manage to get enought np's to buy things and make your neopets happy so they dont run away (happened to me only 2 times). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
We bought this toy for our 4 year old and he has almost mastered every board. This toy is super fun and keeps him occupied for hours. The only complaint is that the batteries run out so quickly, even the top long lasting brands.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun, a must for every SpongeBob fan!
I can say that again, a must for every SpongeBob fan.

With this Plug 'n Play TV Game, this thing comes with 5 games. Here is my rating on the games packed in one:

Bubble Pop - Like the classic Breakout game from Atari, with a SpongeBob twist, and lots of levels to complete. Rather than bricks it's bubbles! Wow!
Rating: 5/5

Sandy's Surf Adventure: A resemblence of Defender and it's finest, and you get to play Sandy surfing on a clam shooting out acorns at henchmen.
Rating: 4/5

Patrick and the Maze: Gauntlet calling, with Patrick as a main character in a coral maze, and finding friends along the way to try out little microgames!
Rating: 4/5

Invasion of the Hooks: This is ok, but not the best out of the collection, when you first try it you might think it's fun but if you play it again later or the next day it probably gets boring, but still allright.
Rating: 3/5

The Super Chum Bucket: A game that features Evil Plankton! On a mission to kidnap Sandy. It's up to SpongeBob to save her from the evil genius, Plankton! Reminds me of the arcade Nintendo game, Donkey Kong which debuted Mario!
Rating: 5/5

Durability is a top standard which can stand rough playing.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Plug and Play...PERIOD!
My three year old son and I went through a plug and play phase where I basically bought every available plug and play system available. Well, I can tell you that the Spongebob plug and play is by far the best of these game systems. The games are challenging but not maddening and lots of fun. There are 5 games included on this little joystick:

1. Spongebob's Bubble Pop (10/10): My personal favorite of the five games. Basically in the old Breakout/Archanoid game style but very fun and with 50 levels to complete!

2. Super Chum Bucket (9/10): This is basically Donkey Kong featuring Spongebob and Plankton...but hey, Donkey Kong is a classic and this game is just as entertaining.

3. Invasion of the Hooks: (4/10): This one is kind of lame. Sandy, Plankton and Patrick are hooked and Spongebob must save them by throwing Krabby Patties at the hooks...not much fun.

4. Sandy's Surf Adventure (7/10): This one is a fun old school style shooter in the vein of Defender but with Sandy crusing through Bikini Bottom.

5. Patrick and the Maze (7.5/10): Obviously a maze game but reminds me of Gauntlet. Patrick must unlock and find his friends...an entertaining game.

**A word about durability** - This plug and play has withstood some rough play (I also have a 16 month old) meaning slamming, banging and pulling of wires; yet it works everytime we turn it on. The batteries do need to be replaced every now and again for optimal performance.

So overall, if you or your kids love Spongebob or old school video games, this system is a must-own. Highly Recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very cool!
I got it for Christmas, and it ROCKS! All the games are REALLY cool, and I'm becoming a master at it! My brother, Bobby Gelhar, and my sister, Katie Gelhar, love it! I think that it is really awesome, and is REALLY REALLY COOL! I WOULD BUY IT IF I WERE YOU! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best software...if you're 8-13 years old
This software is great... but I agree the age range is off... WAY off. But I am in the 8-13 year old group so I find it very fun. Some of the games are battleship, mazes, pinball and the game where you bounce the ball on the stick and you move it back and forth to catch the ball when it falls.
Overall, I liked it allot.
If you have a smart kid that does not get fresturated easily by hard-to-move pieces when you're trying to move something.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of all color Pixter games
Challenging and fun for the whole family even my 4 year old daughter-that's who it was originally for.The Arcade games are clear and the sounds are cool. When you play the sunken ship pirate game against the "computer", my 4 year old thinks that there is actually a pirate inside the pixter, playing her. This game and the Barbie Fashion show are her favorite and keep her entertained for hours-at bedtime and in the car.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Age Group is off.
Its is also good for 12 year olds and 13 year olds. Its a good toy to keep kids entertained. While their busy.On a roadtrip is where my freind uses it the most and also fun to play with. ... Read more
