Editorial Review

There's no need to be boggled by words. Boggle Jr. helps children learn letters, spelling, and reading while having loads of fun! This easy version of the terrifically popular adult Boggle uses pictures and matching games to allow children to make the connection between objects and their names. With two skill levels, players can challenge themselves further as they become more adept at identifying letters and words. It will seem like no time at all before kids are begging to play their parents' version of Boggle! The game, for one or more players, includes a game tray with word cover, 30 picture/word cards with 60 three- and four-letter words, and eight letter cubes. --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Just saw this game for cheaper!
I was just over at Target, and I scanned it on the price scanner and it came up as only $5.I asked a clerk if this was the sale price, and she said no, it was the regular price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Educational but not very Entertaining
Rather than call Boggle Jr a game I would call it an educational tool.It is very boring! It has several dice and each of the sides are labeled w/a letter. There are also flash cards that you put in the holder and cover up the either 3 or 4 letter words and look at the picture to spell the words with the dice. That's basically it.Whoever spells the most words correctly wins. Not the most fun game but would be great to teach or improve childs spelling.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Learning GAME opportunities
I agree that the "game" is more learning vs playing per the directions. However, a little creativity and a fun, educational time can be had.The newest version that I play with my 3.5 year old son has us splitting the dice and taking turns rolling our dice with the goal of getting one of the word's letters. He has fun rolling and searching his lot even if he doesn't roll a needed letter.Plus he can easily handle 4 dice. When you roll a "needed" letter you place it in its place. The player who fills in the last letter "wins" and gets to spell out and say the word.Sometimes we make up our own songs about the winning word. This version easily keeps him happy for a half hour at a time and he has also played his own take on his own.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful
We have the musini and love it. It has held up well to three kids playing and dancing around it and falling on it. This cartridge only adds to the fun. It is easy to insert and my little three year old and two year old are able to do insert it. It works great.

Enjoy. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars I am calling to demand a safety recall!
I need a zero star option!!
I bought this for my daughter last December on her 2nd birthday and it has been a hit. However, today she was playing with it and put it on her arm and one of the wheels pinched her skin right up into the toy and it would not come off.SHe came to me screaming with the train stuck on her arm.She actually yanked it off before I could turn it off and it left a bruise and a small cut.I will call Fisher Price on Monday and report this problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best toy ever, for girls & boys!!
My Daughter got it few days ago and she does not stop playing with it. She is so excited and talking a lot to it. She is only 2 years old and very much in love with it. Very recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars great toy
Keep it in the box and remove whe you want to play with the kids. Great sturdy train for the two to four year old crowd.
The rides on the side move when the trian stops o them. Uses only 4 AAs in the locomotive. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A little too simple
I bought this toy for my 3 yr old son as it is recomended for ages 3 and up. It honestly doesn't do much and didn't hold his attention at all. If anything, he liked scattering the "coins" all over the house. The few buttons light up a picture on a screen and either say "1, 2, or 3" or make three overly electronic sounding animal noises. The credit card does nothing more than make a plastic receipt pop up. The few lights and sounds make this toy seem more appropriate for 18 months to 2 1/2. We had it for only a week before we donated it to our church nursery.

5-0 out of 5 stars cool idea for little ones
My 3 year and I play with this a lot.He likes to drop the coins into the slot. He's doing a better job now of matching colors because only the coin with the matching color goes into the slot with the button of that color. Also he likes to press the buttons and see what will light up.It's lots of fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome.
This is an awesome toy for pre-schoolers.Hours of fun and they even learn!I really like the lights and sounds. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good introductional pack to Spanish language
I got my 3 year old the Kinderbot Robot for Christmas last year. We have had a blast playing with it. It comes with a standard cartridge that has lots of games and activities. I also bought the Spanish cartridge since my native language is Spanish and my son is bilingual. I thought it would help me teach him new words. I think this is a good option for parents who want to give their kids an introduction to Spanish. It is entertaining and it repeats the words in Spanish and then in English (there is pictures of every item too), giving kids a clear understanding of each word taught. The games it contains are fun and entertaining. However, the Spanish is from Spain (I'm from Mexico) so some of the vocabulary is only used in Spain. The pronunciation is good but with a slight American accent. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Buy!
Wonderful set of blocks at an excellent price! We bought two sets- one for upstairs and one for down. My three year old plays with them quite often.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mom and Son Approved
I purchased 2 sets of these blocks for my 6 year old son for Christmas and he loves them. These blocks are the same size of the ones he plays with at kindergarten.I am very pleased, and having two sets there is plenty for him to build with.

5-0 out of 5 stars ALL children should own these!
Heavy-duty, beautifully finished LARGE blocks.I thought my 5 year old might be getting too old for blocks. In fact, we've owned cheaper, smaller ones several times and they always fell down, frustrating the kids. When I asked her kindergarten teacher what interested her most at school, she told me "she would build all day if she could!".She gave me a catalog of a school supplier whose sets started at over $150.00! WAY out of my price range. I searched Amazon and found these and couldn't be happier (unless I ordered 2 sets!).Though she may be embarrassed to admit, I keep finding my 13 year-old building! This was the BEST price and I was lucky enough to get free shipping. You'll NEVER find THESE at a garage sale! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Caution- This product could hurt your child's development
While I can see some strengths in the portability of the leappad, the only other real benefit of the product is that for older children (4 or 6 and up) it provides a source of independent play.
I purchased the leappad for my 3 year old (the content was too shallow even for him- though the game is recommended for ages 4-7), yet the hardware was clumsy and the prompts slow. My son became frustrated with it pretty quickly, and as he is still young and using his mouth a bit to explore, he wound up chewing on the pen.It was in the way and either too sensitive or not enough, so
it became an obstacle.

I knew the thing was on its way out when he walked off to to play a software program on the computer instead.I am very careful to limit the amount of time he spends on software, because so much of the work/information is spoon fed.I found this to be true ad nausium with the leappad. Some of the game ideas were cute, but very little variation. If you don't mind playing the same simple game over and over, or you have an older child who needs remedial help in preschool skills, then I would recommend it.

For prereaders, watch out! This sight reading approach(with a bit of "sounding out, after the cat is already out of the bag)could make learning to read for real seem like a lot more work for your child later on, give him/her a false sense of security in his/her reading skills, and cause them much frustration.I found the language to be unnatural in rhythm, which is typical of portable technological games.

Instead of this contraption, why not buy your child an abacus, and teach them to count in sets (not the pointing method- further confusion).Buy him/her a few high quality story tapes (Jim Weiss is excellent!), and Books, Books, and more books!!!!We read at least an hour a day outloud, and that is the least you should do if you want solid, thinking readers and kids that can problem solve.Isolated bits of information spoon fed through a steril machine takes away the relational aspect of learning, and isolates the child.

Don't get me wrong- there is nothing wrong with electronic games in their place, but don't expect this thing to "teach" your child anything of depth.Read books to your child until they are ready to do something else- for a three year old, that should be about 45 minutes. It's relational and they will eat it up!Then, watch their vocabulary improve, their creative thinking and expression open up, their interaction with you increase on a higher level.A small sacrifice in order to establish a life long love of learning, plus a chance to connect with your child and really learn about them.Reading opens up discussion.Put away the trinkets and the pacifiers. The leappad is nothing more than a pacifier.

2-0 out of 5 stars Weak Content
Great product idea, but uneven implementation. The sound quality should be much better. And some of the modules, such as reading, are pretty good.Other modules, however, are weak on content.I found that the science and nature modules are particularly superficial.Touch the wand to an animal and you get a couple of simple facts. It would be so much better to provide real insight into the animal's behaviors and habitat. So, in summary, for the science modules, you're better off buying a good book and reading to your child.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful AND Disappointing
I bought this as a Gold Box offer. Then, I saw the version that has a part that the children write on.I wish I could have paid a little more and received the upgraded version.

Before you buy the LeapPad Advantage, look at the LeapPad Plus Writing.

My daughter does enjoy the LeapPad.It's not her favorite thing like lots of children, but we got it for the educational value more than for entertainment. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Recently Bought
I recently bought this phone for my younger daughter along with the B - Bright Laptop. And I have to say I was a little bit un-impressed. My daughter just usually wanted to talk to Barbie on the phone, and when she found out that she couldn't talk to Barbie she was a little bit upset. I also bought her the Cordless - Answering - Machine along with the Smart Phone and she is a little bit happier.

1-0 out of 5 stars Another piece of Barbie junk.
Don't waste your money, there are much better "educational"
toy choices. My 4 year old looked at it for a second and has had no interest in it at all. Just another junkie Barbie toy! If you want a learning toy, look at Leap Frog toys.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Barbie learning product
My daughter loves the Barbie B-On the Go Learning Phone. She loves to take it with her all the time on errands and longer car trips. It keeps her involved and I feel good because I know she's learning at the same time. The voice is clear, it's extremely durable and the games are great for little girls. This is a terrific product for girls that can't get enough of Barbie. ... This Japanese language add-on (cartridge) to the Little Linguist will offer an engaging challenge for your little one: learning anew language. The toy (actually,Little Linguist is more of an educational aid disguised as a toy) isengineered to imitate your child's learning pattern; the more your child plays, the more intuitive the gamebecomes. Little Linguist presents your child with familiar picture icons that, when selected, give theJapanese word for the objects. This wonderful cloth book will have your child smiling all the way to bed!The soft purple book measures 8 inches and has a sturdy purple zipper around threesides, with soft stuffed handles on top. A picture of a bear tucked into bed and the words"Lullabyand Good Night" are embroidered on the front. Then your child can brush the bear's teeth with theconveniently attached stuffed toothbrush. Next there's a pair of overalls with Velcrostraps, containing a removable 4-inch-long stuffed bear that plays a Brahms lullaby whenyou press his tummy. The following pages have flaps and removable accessories thatenable the stuffed bear to take a bath, put on pajamas, read a bedtime story, say a prayer, and receive a goodnight kiss from Mama Bear. 4-0 out of 5 stars $35?? wow!
I rec'd this as a baby shower gift, and am very suprised to find it's retail is $35!I do have an older version (no music) but, my son is now 18 mo and still loves "reading" his book before bed.So worth it none the less.

3-0 out of 5 stars Cute but Not worth 35 dollars!!!
We got this book at our baby shower. It is a soft cloth book with a zipper to close it and keep peices inside. My daughter is almost two now and she plays with it on occasion. Using a small stuffed bear you go through the bed time routine. Glass of milk, bath, brush teeth, say your prayers, kiss goodnight etc. I really wish the book had a cord to attach all the small pieces to it. We lost the carton of milk and the soap. The toothbrush is attached by a cord but I noticed it fraying. The toothbrush is really the only part of it she uses. Which has been helpful in getting her brush back and forth instead of just chewing.

I really never thought about this toy much until I was browsing amazon for toys and I saw that it cost THIRTY FIVE dollars!! There is no way that it is worth that much money. Buy your kid 6 or 7 board books instead.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price...
Because of the rave reviews I ordered this book for my daughters 1st Birthday. When I received the book I opened it up before wrapping it because I was so excited! I was very disappointed!First of all the teddy bear is supposed to play lullaby's...When I pushed the tummy it sounded like one of those awful hallmark buttons, you know, the ones that play your favorite anthem, happy birthday, etc. Then it died and made these popping and buzzing noises, and there is no way to replace the battery. It is not something that would soothe a baby or toddler to sleep even if it did work properly.Second, the milk and the soap were bigger than the bear it self, I don't get it? The bear is only 2 maybe 3 inches tall and cheap looking. And third, for a nice interactive bed time story, there is no story really. The pj's are difficult to put on the bear even for an adult. The only plus side is that the book is cute and the quality of the book and accessories (except the bear) were very nice.I sent it back for a refund, for me it was not worth the price. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars poor jack in the box
I am very unhappy with this product. The handle is hard to turn, and it takes too long for the clown to pop up.When the clown does pop up it smells like a forst fire inside of the toy.Over all I would not recomend it!

1-0 out of 5 stars Jack-In-the-Box
The music does not play well.It takes many, many cranks for it to start and then it is very faint.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toy... like old times
When I was little, I had the old metal jack in the box... I remember pinching my fingers when trying to get the clown back down in the box and the lid closed.I still enjoyed it though.

We bought this particular jack n the box from Toys R Us in October of 2003 for our then 4 month old son.Since he couldn't have candy for halloween, we thought it a perfect time to give him his first jack n the box. And, it has been played with a LOT!It's worked perfectly from day one... music plays great and the clown pops up every time just when he's supposed to.The box is plastic and the clown is easy to put back in.Much safer than my old one from YEARS ago.The handle turns easily and the whole thing is light weight with a handle for easy carrying.

We have really enjoyed watching his expression while playing with this toy. It's one of his favorites. ... Read more
