4-0 out of 5 stars I have a question, hope someone can answer.
I like the look of this toy on the site, it looks durable, and my child loves to play in the tub. My question is this, do these letters stick to the walls of a tub enclosure, or are ceramic tiles the required finish for them to adhere to?
Hope to get an answer soon and thanks

1-0 out of 5 stars Love them!!
Only problem I have noticed is they are very small and that they don't have all the letters. My kids names have R's in them and they are upset that there isn't even 1 r in the whole tub. They stick to the wall great and even my husband and I have enjoyed leaving messages with them. Two thumbs up!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Learning Toy!
My kids have this toy. They love making their names or words out of the letters.

I find it totally unexceptable for someone to attack someone else. This is for REVIEWS, not to attack people. Who cares if shes not who she says she is? She wrote a good review. She didn't use "their" instead of "there" anyway, and two exclamations is a common mistake. She was probably in a hurry.

Grow up and get a life. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars creative use of this technology
I agree with all who say this is the best Leap Pad book. My kids spend more time with it than with all the rest combined (and we have about half a dozen different books). This book is truly fun, and truly teaches children about music -- not just facts about composers, but also about parts of the orchestra, different styles and periods of classical music, and how music conveys ideas and feelings. I'd like to see the Leap Pad manufacturers apply the creativity of "Hit It Maestro" to the visual arts, sciences, history, etc.

3-0 out of 5 stars great entry to learning music

This Star Explosion kit allows children to create a universe intheir own bedrooms. With over 500 glow-in-the-dark adhesive pieces tochoose from (including stars of all sizes, comets, asteroids, and spiralgalaxies), junior astronomers can create star displays, black-holeeffects, and, with the aid of the included star map, actualconstellations. There are 364 small (.25-inch to 1.5-inch) star stickersand about 200 larger (1.5-inch to 5.5-inch) plastic shapes that adhereto walls and ceilings with the putty that comes with the set (it's safeto use on most surfaces). The stickers and plastic shapes are made ofGlominite, a safety-tested product that stores light. Each time theGlominite shapes are exposed to light, they recharge--so that theglowing keeps on going. --Kathryn Gustafson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars WE TURNED THE BEDROOM INTO A GALAXY
I had a lot of fun with my granchildren transforming their bedroom into a glowing galaxy. There was more than enough stars to make a bunch of constellations on their ceiling. These are easy to use and weren't messy at all.The kids love staring at the stars and pointing out the names of constellation before they go to bed at night.I was surprised when they started pointing out the real ones once we were outside one evening.
The experience really turned them on to learning about the constellations. We even ended up buying a real telescope and book about stars. What a fun way to learn for all of us. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun & Colorful Counting
This abacus has been loads of fun for my two year old who is just learning the counting basics. She loves to just sit and play with the beads or to count with the help of mom and dad.The wood and metal construction is very safe and durable like all Melissa and Doug toys. This will be a useful and fun learning tool for years to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun math toy
The colors are bright and the frame is thick and durable. It is a nice way to add a little fun to math.Plus since it is so well made, when my 10 month old wants to play with it I don't worry about her or the toy.

5-0 out of 5 stars leap pad phonics program
My children are just learning to read. This program is great! It really holds their attention.I found a complete set of book from #1 to # 10 packaged together. After we do one book they look forward to doing the next.It has fun games and music for them,it really makes learning fun.I would also like to recommend the Leap frog Fridge Phonics, it has some of the same catchy songs in it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book
This book is great. My daugher is finally learning what *sounds* the letter make! And she gets this book out on her own to play with it so it oviously is fun for her which is a huge + in my book!!

I would recomend this book to any child just learning to read, no matter what the age (my daughter is 5), it really helps to add additional practice to any other reading program (whether in school, homeschool, tutor, etc) and it is fun.

Also my almost 2 year old is starting to learn the sounds the letters make from watching her big sister use this!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for Pre Readers
This is a great book for people with the Leap pad and are looking for a book that is for younger kids. My daughter is 3 and she is able to follow alot of the concepts with this book. Each page is dedicated to one letter and there are lots of pictures to touch with the pen that make music and stories. I recommend this book for younger kids who are learning the alphebet. 5-0 out of 5 stars Parents- get ready to find out how little you know!!
My 7 year old daughter is a geography buff, and her skills definately improved after playing this game! It improved mine too! I found out how little I remember about differnt states! She learned North, South, East and West, can name all the states and the capitols! She is leaps and bounds ahead of her classmates in this area, I attribute that to the fun learning she experienced playing this game! I plan to purchase one for all my nieces and nephews when they are 7.

5-0 out of 5 stars Learning FUN!
I highly recommend this game!Very fun while still being extremely educational. The best way to learn is while your having a good time doing it.My son (4 years) has this game and we have given the Jr. version as a gift. The Jr. version is appropriate for pre-readers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for all ages
My son started playing this when he was 3.At 4, he can name all the states, abbreviations, capitals and most of the state birds. He can tell you where the major points of interest are without looking at the map. It helps to teach the concept of distance, such as "which state is closest to Maine". It also teaches the concept of compass direction, such as "which state is north of Texas".The game can be played with or without a board for portability. All in all a great educational game for children as well as adults. ... Read more

Story Reader interactive books are a terrific way for children to begin learning to read. The simple design allows even the youngest Disney fan to "read" The Lion King. Just place the 24-page illustrated book inside the portable plastic Story Reader, insert the cartridge, and open the cover. A narrator will begin reading at any page the book is opened to. Children can follow along, seeing the words they hear and begin making sense of the printed word. The animated voice of the narrator, along with engaging sound effects and music, will draw the child into the exciting world of Simba and his treacherous uncle, Scar--or any of the other Disney Story Reader titles (other books not included). A handle and the lightweight design of the Story Reader makes it a snap to carry everywhere, from play groups to road trips to Grandma's house. There's even a headphone jack for more private readings! (Four "AAA" batteries required--not included.) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great entertainer
I wouldn't call this educational, but my 3 kids love them.I have5 and 3 year old boys and a 20 month old girl.We bought 2 of these to take on the airplane. The kids enjoyed them so much they would even listen to them in the car.Now my kids look forward to quiet time with their books. My complaint is that the sets of 3 books are all on 1 disc so the kids have to take turns with all the books on 1 disc. It's also good though because there is less to loose.Overall, I am very pleased.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Toy!
My son just turned 4 and recieved this toy for his birthday. He LOVES it! He loves books, so this was a perfect item for him. He thinks it is very cool to have his own way to "read" his own books. His reader came with 4 books and I plan to purchase more!

He has used this toy a lot and the batteries have not given out on us yet. I would definately reccomend this toy to others and I will keep it in mind for future gifts!

What's really, really cute? A kid that doesn't know the meaning of some words yet, but really, really wants to. LeapPad's multisensory, experiential interface makes kids want a big vocabulary--in a bad way. With Richard Scarry's Things to Know, kids see, hear, say, and touch throughout the story, enhancing oral, vocabulary, and phonics lessons given throughout the book. At the same time, Scarry's characters help to identify and pronounce new words and pronounce old words correctly.

It's simple to use (just insert the cartridge and book into a LeapPad, and use the attached stylus to hear information), but this system is an innovative technology that provides entertaining, effective learning, designed by a Stanford-trained reading expert. The system also has been credited with the TMA's Educational Toy of the Year and People's Choice awards.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must own!
Another must own of the leap pad series of books. This book encourages colors, shap recognition and counting while teaching kids about their seasons, musical instruments and more.On the seasons pages, they learn extra tunes including a little bit of "The Entertainer".They also learn their opposites and the importance of being polite. The best bonus is that your child's vocabulary and self-esteem get a boost. ... "Rut-roh!" There's nothing more frightening to Scooby-Doo than losing his munchies. Kids can help him and his human companions figure out a culinary mystery using LeapPad's multisensory, experiential learning interface. 5-0 out of 5 stars love that leap pad
Alex got this for his birthday and it was the ONLY thing he wanted to pay with for the rest of the day!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun..
My 2 kids love just about every LeapFrog book that we've purchased. This particular Scooby Doo story is a lot of fun and the games that are included in the book keep the kids attention.

I give 3 stars for durability, as I will for all Leap Books, only because the book does not provide storage for the cartridge. It sure would be nice if the books had small plastic sleeves for the related cartridge. We have a number of books and keeping the books and cartridges together are a little tough. The chances of losing the small cartridges will keep my durability rating lower than 5.

Also, the 3 stars for durability is related to a design "flaw". The wire from the pen and the bottom of the book are constant fighting for space. To turn the page, without possibly bending the page, requires you to hold the wire down so it doesn't interfere with the page. Easy enough for an adult to do, however my 5 year old doesn't remember to hold the wire down all the time. 50% of all of our pages have creases in the bottom of the pages...all in the same spot!

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad product, yet turned out good...
I agree with all the reviews here - the good AND the bad.The set is cheap, chintzy, and NOT worth the money for the materials. The magnifying glass is...well, I wouldn't even call it cheap plastic.Just impossible to see anything through it.The droppers are cheap and I am sure will not hold up to repeated use.The plastic cups are the kind they use to give you 2 pills in the hospital - disposable plastic.

The entire kit is based solely on color mixing using Crayola tub tints!I almost had a fit - I have a jar of 50 of them in the bathroom!Color mixing is all you get here.

That being said - my 4 1/2 year old loved it.Felt like a real scientist with her dropper and what-not.So, was it worth the twenty dollars? Not from a materials stand point. But for watching my daughter learn and discover and become jazzed about experiments even more than she was (if that's possible), then yes, it was worth it.

It was definitely worth Mom learning a lesson on buying good quality materials and borrowing experiment idea books from the library!

1-0 out of 5 stars You don't need this to do the science
I cannot believe that other reviewers gave this cheesy so-called science kit 5 stars.I gave it to my almost 5 yr. old grandson for Christmas. His mom & I decided that one does not need the junky things included in this set to do these experiments. For instance the little plastic food coloring bottles available at the grocery store are perfectly suited for mixing colors either on paper towels or in custurd cups. The chrystal making stuff is what is used in baby diapers and for $.26 (the cost of one diaper) you can make chrystals easily. The magnifying glass is so chintzy--very small and hard to see through the murky plastic.
Get your child an inexpensive real magnifying glass. No more packaged so-called science kits for us.Most kids really interested in science would find little inspiration in this kit.

5-0 out of 5 stars My 2 Sons Love it!!!
This is a great way to kill an afternoon with actual learning!!!!My boys loved mixing colors and watching their crystals grow!!I just wish for the money, there were more of the color tabs so the experiments can be repeated. But maybe I can find them at a craft store.......... Overall, a great product for kids! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great item
Sea Monkeys are the best! They are so easy to raise! It only takes about a day to prepare the tank! Speaking of tank, the tank is so cool! It has a flip light, and lots and lots of magnifiers.

Sea monkeys are great for kids who are allergic to fur. Be careful to not spill the tank! And remember to feed your fine little friends!

4-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and Fun
Before I begin, please note that this is from an eleven year old's point of view.
Sea Monkeys are really great! They are perfect for kids who aren't allowed to have furry animals.
Sea Monkeys Ocean of Light comes with exactly the following-no more, no less:

-aquarium with flip light
-instructions in a variety of languages
-water purifier pouch
-instant egg pouch
-growth food pouch
-plasma III pouch
-food and egg spoon

The kit is great for starters who don't wan't to get too fancy-just using what you need. The tank is really great, with the light and built in magnifiers, but beware that the lid is EXTREMELY loose. For those who don't know, Plasam III is some powder that will make your sea-monkey babies grow faster.
The instruction booklet has its ups and downs. It's packed with advice and science facts are crammed in, making it fun. However, the box clearly states that it has a 32 page booklet, in full color, but I did not find any.
I took one star away because the kit was simply not enough for a serious beginner trainer. For instance, an Aqua-Leash will let you transport your critters from one place to another, and the Million Bubble Air Pump is a handy device in which it pumps air. I was slightly dissapointed when I did not find either in the kit. But, I went onto the official sea-monkey website, www.sea-monkeys.com, where they sell the leash and the pump, plus other great stuff. Go on there to buy and to get valuable customer care information.
All in all, the Ocean of Light is really a pretty good kit, and sea-monkeys are the BEST and easiest to raise!

5-0 out of 5 stars "IDidn't really get it but i had some thing like it"

It was really cool waching the sea monkey's swiming in the water it wasn't much of a problem feeding them either it was a fun thing to look at and past the time.I think my parent's will buy this for me again.I think this gift would be a scientific experiece for any child.Tip:keep younger kids away if they arent smart they'll think its a glass of water and drink it.

Editorial Review

Kids love to emulate adults around them--give them the pleasureof learning to use their very own phone with the Pretend & PlayTeaching Telephone. The bright red and yellow plastic unit measures 7inches across and has large buttons for easy use. Program in a number(your home, for example) and record a message for the kids to hear whenthey get it right. There's also an emergency message associated with911 to teach them what to do when trouble strikes. Other fun featuresinclude speed dial and an 11-digit display. --Rob Lightner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Special Toy For A Special Boy!
My son has autism, so I am constantly on the lookout for toys that will help him in everyday task. The phone is FANTASTIC! In only two day, he got the hang of the phone and learned his home phone number! The kicker was for praise, he heard mommy's voice saying, he got it right! No mechanical, strange voices! Good Job! Great Product!

5-0 out of 5 stars Gets loads of play! Kids of all ages love this.
This toy can be used by babies and toddlers and up. Younger kids can use it simply as a pretend phone. When certain buttons are pressed there is a dial tone sound, a ringing sound, and a "busy signal" sound. My youngest was one year old when he began playing with this, randomly pressing buttons, listening, and really pretending to talk.

Older kids (5 or maybe 4) can use this as a teaching tool, with the parent. As described by the manufacturer (above) this has the capability to program in numbers, record your voice, and practice calling 911 or practice calling other important phone numbers.

So far we've only used the toy to play with during imaginative play. My kids have played with it so much that it is worth the cost. Kids who visit for playdates also gravitate to this toy and love to play with it. I highly recommend this as a great toy for pretend play.

Also great from this manufacturer is the pretend cash register. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Super item -- flawed packaging
Precious, precious item.My 9 year old daughter just loves it.It might seem young for a girl this age, but she loves to play school, and she loves having all the "tricky" things right there together in one package.A sweet toy.One problem:Seller did not include the markers in the package!List of items included clearly says "markers," but the markers did not make it into the package.Oh well. These are easy enough to replace. We were unable to get this package before Christmas as item was out of stock.Even when we ordered it after Christmas, our ship date was listed as some time in March.Surprise!Product arrived before January 1!Grandparents, for a young girl this would be a wonderful, fun gift. (Although stay under the age of 8 to be on the safe side--my daughter is young for her age.) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a new book for leap at last
my 3 year old son is a great fan of wiggles was delighted to see this had been added to leap library as they have so few first leappad books that toddlers can relate to. the voices are realistic and the songs are mainly new ones which is a nice surprise the activities as expected by wiggles and leappad standards are great well worth the buy. just wish that leap would do more books like this. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Loads of fun!
My three kids (7, 6, 5) and I have had a great time with this toy, safely capturing and identifying all kinds of bugs, then letting them go. The magnifying glass feature lets everyone get a really great view of the insect and all its detail, which makes it easy to identify with a field guide handy. I even use it regularly to get bugs out of the house. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Enchanting learning toy!
Our daughter received this puzzle for her 3rd birthday. She's a puzzle nut! This became an instant favorite and had to be left together for all to see.The picture sheet in it labels all the sea creatures and it becomes a great way to discuss the different levels of life in the ocean. The coloring is beautiful - Mom and Dad enjoy it as well.It is extrememly well built, sturdy and can really be wiped off with a damp cloth.

The only negative, as another viewer pointed out, is the darker bottom pictures.Harder for young ones to distinguish designs and not as visually appealing.

5-0 out of 5 stars good team project
My two girls (aged 4.5 and 3) love puzzles. They have different likes and dislikes so we have in our house "my puzzles" and "your puzzles." But this one is the first "our puzzle." It is challenging enough that both girls have to work together -- one on the tropical fish and the other on the dolphins, for example -- and what a joy when the patches would come together. The different areas on the puzzle would take on a different hue of blue (as the ocean goes deeper the color darkens, of course), so that the girls can sort out the pieces and start different "foci" on the floor. Therefore this puzzle really helps them learn multi-tasking, organization, and team work. It is definitely a step forward from the 24-piece or 50-piece sets, while still remaining manageable for preschoolers. My only minor, minor complaint is that one stretch of the puzzle (the sperm whale area) is dark, a bit simplistic in design, and somehow not preferred by either of the girls -- so I would always be assigned to complete that portion; just a little warning that you may find yourself putting together a giant sperm whale a couple of times a day. The bonus -- a chart that teaches the children names of all the sea creatures on the puzzle! ... Read more
