4-0 out of 5 stars Future American Idol!
My kids adore this machine! Not only does it go through all the ABC's, shapes, and favorite songs, but it gives them a chance to sing to the music too. They love the microphone effect.Make sure you stock up on batteries! My kids run them out because they use it all the time.I would definately invest in some earplugs if you don't like listening to all that music.I find it very cute when my kids go around singing those songs, though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Leapfrog does it again.....
We bought this toy for my daughter's 2nd birthday and she loves it.I have had no problems with this toy at all. This has a volume feature and my daughter loves singing into the microphone. The songs this plays are great too!All in all, leapfrog has done it again with another great toy.

1-0 out of 5 stars My daughter couldn't hear herself sing.
The volume for the microphone is so low that it is hard to hear the child singing. Also the microphone cord when moved causes static and if the mic is too close to the speaker it will cause high pitch noices. Lastly the voice comes out sounding muttled and that is not when I was using the voice effect. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Worked for me, and now for him
I have a 9 year old son. I got this for him last Christmas. I only bought it because I remembered when I had something similar to it a long time ago. I remembered how much I learned from it about electricity, and how it got me into it. The look on my boy after a few hours playing with it was just the same as I had years ago. This toy is very enjoyable and educational at the same time. I have another boy (5years old), and he doesn't know how to play with it, but he has an intrest of the sounds it makes, and some of the projects you can have your voice broadcasted through a weak AM channel. My son took it to school to show and tell, and the teacher asked him if he can bring it again so they can work on some of the projects it has in it. All in all it is FUN 4 ALL ;)

5-0 out of 5 stars It is awsome to see educational toys such as these.
Educational toys such as these are going to give the kids of today an interest in technology so that they can become the scientists and engineers of tomorrow.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beep Beep Vaarrrrommmm rat-tat-tat-tat
Those are the noises my nephew, with some help from his father, was making with this kit after just a few minutes. We gave it to him for his 7th birthday and, though a bit young to go it alone at first, he is learning a lot and it is a great activity for him to enjoy with his parents, grandparents, etc.
It's a great toy AND educational tool.
He is at a stage where he wants to really figure out how things work and LOVES the kit and the oportunities for experimenting it offers.
While I was driving home from his birthday party he called my cell phone to let me listen as he talked into it and his voice came out on the radio.
It's a hit. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The iQuest handheld provides a customized learning experience that revolutionizes the way students study for tests and quizzes--by making the process fun, fast, and effective. iQuest is the hip handheld that prepares students for tests in math, science, and social studies with study questions based on their textbooks. Small enough to fit in the front of a backpack, the iQuest also keeps students organized with a scheduler, address book, dictionary, and calculator. Use the Mind Station connector (sold separately) to download textbook chapter outlines and audio quiz questions onto a cartridge. Then insert that cartridge into the iQuest to learn chapter materials through two game modes: Pop Quiz, the fun beat-the-clock mode, and Chapter Challenge, a thorough review of textbook material. iQuest comes with instructions, a 4 MB reusable cartridge with 1,000 questions, and a snap-on cover/faceplate. Four AA batteries are required but not included. ... Read more

This is good for study time/study hall because if you have a big test, this would be very helpful

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for both studying and cheating
I love the iquest!!! The only thing is a girl in my class brought hers to school than she would use the calculater to cheat. It's a nice toy but don't let your child cheat with it!

3-0 out of 5 stars I was excited about this game but my kid doesn't like it.
My first grade son loves his Leapster and every other cartridge that he owns but he just doesn't like this one.I was hoping that Math Baseball would be a fun way for him to practice his beginning math skills but it hasn't turned out that way.The way the rules are re-explained is annoying for both him and me and even when you answer a problem correctly it doesn't insure that you won't hit a pop up that is caught or pitch a ball that gets hit.I guess thats the way the real world works but my son found it disillusioning and it only further contributed to his lack of interest in this game.My kid loves to learn. He loves to read.He loves to draw.We make up math games at home.I am always looking for a way to keep him stimulated but also encourage him to have a little fun. This game just didn't do it for him.

5-0 out of 5 stars much more fun than using flashcards!
Overview (from the parent guide): Math Baseball supports number-fact drills through 12 in each of the following operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.Players select the correct answer to flash card-like equations that appear on the screen.By choosing the right answer from two answer choices as quickly as they can, players advance the game.If they click on an incorrect answer, however, their team loses the play. It's a fast-paced game that increases in speed and difficulty as players answer questions correctly and slows down with easier problems if they answer incorrectly to allow more time for mental computation. The faster they solve equations, the faster and farther the ball travels. If players answer too slowly, the opposing team might catch their ball - but if they answer quickly, players can hit a single, double, triple, or even a home run!
--
I hesitated in purchasing this game for my 4 year old daughter because it seemed to be geared more toward elementary grades.Much of it is too difficult for her, but there is one area where she has fun.The T-ball section doesn't operate on a timer so she can take as long as she needs to count baseballs or figure out easy addition or subtraction problems.

I had my 11 year old son try this cartridge to see if he thought the rest of the game was fun (even if it was too easy for him).He had fun for a little while, but after a few innings and a score of 40-0 he became bored. It also didn't take him long to realize that there are only 2 choices for answers and he has a 50/50 chance of getting the right answer without even looking at the math question.

The only real negative item that I saw with this program for children in the recommended age range is that it only saves one team and one game created by the user.If you have more than one child using this cartridge, they will be overwriting each other's saved games and teams.

Overall, I think this cartridge is a fun way for children to memorize their math tables.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game for getting fast at basic math.
This game is pretty brilliant. It has addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. You first choose if you want a combination or just one. Then you can choose practice or a real game. It works with kids just learning and really challenges those who want to get faster. If your up to bat the faster you answer the question determines how good you hit the ball. You answer really fast you might just hit a home run, and it you miss, then of course you strick out. When your playing out field, you determine how fast you get the other team out by how fast you answer the questions. It's very fun, and easy to learn.I didn't like how they reexplained things every time you change from out field to infield or started a new game, but then we found that if you hit I think it's the home key then you can pass that up, and your fun doesn't get interupted.I think it should also be known that this game is plenty of fun for kids from ages 6-11, and even longer if your kid just needs to strengthen their speed of their math, which coming from a High school math teacher is very important in Junior High and High School math. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Cannibals!
Our ladybug larvae seemed to prefer to eat each other rather than the food which came with our shipment of ladybugs. It was rather gruesome to watch, so we let the larvae loose outside. The company representative we spoke with had no explanation for the phenomenon, but was willing to ship us another package of ladybugs free of charge.I don't think we can handle watching a repeat of the cannibalism.

5-0 out of 5 stars My daughter loved it!
I gave this to my 2nd grader for Christmas. It took a while for the larvae to arrive due to "unexpected need" -- how does that happen when the same company sells the land and ships the ladybugs? But once the tube of larvae arrived the land did exactly what it promised. My kids loved watching as the larvae became pupae attached to the dome, then hatched as ladybugs. We kept them in the dome for a couple of weeks (until after the last frost) then released them on our rose bushes.Ten minutes later the kids were begging to order more larvae!

5-0 out of 5 stars Teacher and Parent
I bought this for my son's third birthday. He's already an avid entomologist. The larvae arrived just as expected already shedding its skin, which each one did multiple times. It was fascinating for my husband and me as well. The three of us found ourselves glued together watching these amazing creatures as the larvae shed it's final skin and entered the pupa stage.Several days after the fully-formed ladybugs emerged (they were yellow at first), we set them free into our back yard. They have a distinct appearance which is slightly different than the ladybugs we're accustomed to seeing around here. Therefore we have been able to easily identify them when we come across them in our yard.

We received about 14 or 15 ladybug larvae and all survived to become ladybugs except for one, which I consider to be pretty impressive. The container was especially effective because my son was not able (or tempted) to manhandle to ladybugs, yet it was easy to keep the water filled with the specially designed lid and water tube.We had an excellent view of all the events taking place inside.I would recommend purchasing books to go along with this.We had four different simple books relying upon excellent photographs and easy-to-understand descriptions. This heightened my son's (and our) anticipation and helped us to better understand what was happening.

I can honestly say that this has been well-worth the price we paid for it.Soon we're going to get a refill kit of ladybug larvae and begin anew. ... Read more

My 6 and 9 year old boys both love this toy. They usually take showers now because they're big boys but the first day we had the flutes they both spent about 2 hours in the tub. Editorial Review

The Barbie Shop With Me Cash Register proves once again that Barbie is the coolest.Madedurably and in Barb's trademark colors (pink, hot pink, purple, white, etc.), this is a sleek number that canbe operated on the floor, bed, or tabletop. It features four realistic ways to buy noodles, yogurt, and toiletpaper. Option 1: A "clerk"--either a child or Barbie--scans the bar codes of included price tags. Option 2:You can manually input the price of items. Option 3: Items may be scrolled down the register. Option 4,which is, by the way, your humble writer's favorite: Make up your own prices! Get "Barbie Discounts"when you use your savings debit card. The Barbie register comes with a slew of accessories, including 18scannable price tags, play money, play credit/debit cards, a keypad, built-in microphone, and a 120-itemshopping catalogue offering everything from Barbie-brand jeans to junk food. The machine features ahigh-tech hand-held scanner and LCD on the register, which shows a customer's subtotal, item number, unitprice, and total. You get everything but a receipt. Hmmm.

A built-in microphone allows your child to make store announcements and call for price checks and itemvoids. This heightens the interaction this toy was built for, since Barbie's voice simulates the real shoppingexperience enough already. "Cash or charge?" she asks in a perky tone. Tip: If you don't pay up at oncewith your Barbie greenbacks or American Express-like credit card, you'll be harassed. We writers foundourselves fumbling through our own wallets, trolling for coupons. Barbie prompts the shopper throughoutthe entire process ("Seventeen dollars and twelve cents... No... seventeen dollars and TWELVE cents.").And parents--there's no volume control. If you just happen to sneak a play while your kid's eating lunch,well... everybody in the house will hear if your card is over the limit. Just kidding. But it's best to useBarbie's credit cards anyway. This kind of hectic shopping experience makes adults really appreciate theonline shopping experience, but kids will love it so much they'll forget it's just a pretend play toy. Registercomes with all accessories, manufacturer's warranty, a real grocery store coupon for a kid's treat, and thefour required AA batteries. --Diane Beall ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Educational and Fun!!!
This toy is very educational and fun. Like going shopping in your own home. It is very high tech and advanced. If I had to recommend a toy for a child this would be my number one choice.
It is educational because it has a built in calculator. Also when you have to give change you have to count out the right amount of money to give back to the customer.I am 11 years old and I stil play with mine. It is the best toy I have ever had. Very amazing!!!!!!! Kids are learning some math skills and are having fun doing it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very nice!
I have had this toy for such a long time and even though I'm 10 I Istill play with it!It even teaches little kids math skills!I don't like what the lady said about her kid not being able to read it because I had it when I was five and I still had fun with it. Still a great toy!

3-0 out of 5 stars Microphone will drive you crazy
I bought this register used at Goodwill for my 3 year old niece. She was with me when I bought it and loved it right away, even when the batteries weren't put in. We brought it home and her 15 month old sister adored it too. The only problem about this toy is the microphone. It absolutely drove their parents crazy! That's pretty much the only part of the register the girls played with and she figured out that if she put the microphone in her mouth and blew on it, a VERY loud feedback sound would occur! I didn't think the microphone was real when I bought it or that it would cause such problems. So, it is a good toy, but the microphone can be annoying, which is probably why I found the toy at Goodwill in the first place. :) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 12" Raised Relief Explorer Globe
It's amazing how much a child learns by having access. We are an American family living in Germany and felt my 5 year old would have a greater understanding of where we live and where our extended family lives.

5-0 out of 5 stars There should be one in every house!
What a great, inexpensive globe. It's fascinating to watch a child spin a globe - even if they don't seem like they are learning anything, at least they are getting a general idea of the immense size of our world!Since getting this globe, my 5 year old son has learned about the continents and the oceans, found Australia on his own and pointed out that Antarctica is bigger than the USA.It seems that the globe gets loose from it's stand somewhat easily, but it is easily tightened. All in all, a great buy with terrific educational value.

3-0 out of 5 stars poorly designed stand
The globe itself is ok and has a lot of educational value for kids starting out in geography, but the stand is so poorly designed that when you rotate the globe on its axis, the stand easily detaches from the globe. The whole point is to be able to rotate it, so in effect it's not very usable if you have to keep fixing the stand again and again.A heavier stand that would not move when rotating the globe would probably work better. The attaching mechanism needs redesign too -- right now it's just a screw in the base. ... We bought this V-Tech Tablet Notebook for our son (age eight) for Xmas. The thing never turned on!Put in fresh batteries, read the manual, called VTech, nothing.Amazon gladly exchanged it for another. Now, this one turns on but the screen freezes after 30 seconds of play time and then we can't get it to turn on again for hours.Very frustrating.I can say, however, that our son thought it was cool for the two minutes he got to play with it.What's wrong with this thing and why have the other "reviewers" not had this problem?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game, but too simple for a real first grader
I bought this cartridge for my 4YO son. He loves it. The games are fun and very educational. His favorite is the "LetterPiller" game, where the child guides a little caterpillar to letters in order to form words. There is a cute show when the word is complete and the game is very forgiving of mistakes. This has really helped my son learn to keep trying. Before he got his leapster, he would get upset after making a mistake, now he doesn't care at all. There is also a bumper car math game which is a little advanced for him, but would probably be good for a 5YO. There is a "log ride" game which teaches grammer. My son really likes that one too.

While I think this is way to easy for a real first grader, it is perfect for a 4-6YO child. My 4YO absolutely adores it. So I think the game deserves 5 stars even though they got the ages wrong.

4-0 out of 5 stars IT'S AN ANT FARM
What the heck is the Amozon featured reviewer talking about. IT'S AN ANT FARM!We better keep an eye on her students.Anyway, it is a drag that there is no queen. My grandson was pretty disappointed. It is probably better to not order the ants at all, left up a rock in sandy loam and grap as many workers and eggs that you can.Chances are that you will not get a queen but if you get young enough eggs the workers will grow a new one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ants exemplify lifeskills!
I had this ant farm as a child and LOVED it. It was very educational and entertaining. The ants created their own little community, along with connecting "highways" (tunnels), a graveyard (they carried the dead ants to one little area of the farm and buried them), and even a food "cellar" (they stored all their extra food in one little area at the bottom of the farm). My ants lived for several months and only died when my mother was cleaning house and tried to move it. The tunnels all collapsed and the ants were killed. I am currently a 4th grade teacher and purchasing this for my classroom. I am going to use it to teach habitats and communitites, but most importantly lifeskills. Ants exemplify so many lifeskills...patience, cooperation, perseverance, endurance, caring, effort, problem solving, etc. WOW!! So much we can learn from one tiny creature.

This toy is a waste of money. I bought it for my 7 year old. The voice is with an english accent and you can't understand half of what she says. When we finnally managed to get the password to accept, after closing the journal we couldn't get back in because it didn't recognize the password. We are from South Carolina so it couldn't understand what we were telling it to do. Very frustrating! Forget about setting the time and date. What a rip off!

5-0 out of 5 stars Older brother can't open it
I bought the journal for my seven year old grand daughter. She loves it.She found that using her name as the password, saying it very firmly worked best, it only opens to her voice. My daughter will be buying this journal to give as gifts. How about a boy's version? ... Read more

Editorial Review

Dinosaur devotees will be roaring over this radio-controlledTyrannosaurus Rex as he growls and roars, moves his head, thrashes histail, and even blinks his beady yellow eyes. He can also turnrealistically and walk forward a few steps on a hard surface, growlingand roaring at the same time, if you choose. T-Rex is 11 inches tall and21 inches from nose to tail, with textured, flexible brown rubber skinthat bends and moves. The controller is shaped like a stone with twobone-shaped joysticks to control the dinosaur's walking and turning.Buttons on the side of the controller make T-Rex move his head and frontfeet, snap his jaws, roar, and blink his eyes. The controller slidesopen in the middle for use, and you have to be careful not to pinch yourfingers when you snap it shut. T-Rex requires a total of six AAbatteries, two for the controller and four inside the dinosaur, and thebattery compartment inside the T-Rex is rather difficult to access.Despite these small drawbacks, this dino is one cool dude that willthrill any kid in the midst of the inevitable dinosaur phase. -- Marcie Bovetz ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed on Christmas
The only toy our 5 year old wanted was a t-rex with batteries. How disappointing when we turned it on and nothing happened. We sent "Roarie" back to the "North Pole" aka amazon, for replacement. when the new one arrived, Joy was immediately replaced by tears when the new one stopped functioning after less than 2 minutes! This toy is fragile to say the most.

1-0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE TOY!!!
CONSUMER BEWARE!My five-year old son received this for Christmas. It was great while it worked, a whole two days! What a huge upset!I didn't see any educational value to it, except the education of disappointment from a fragile toy. We didn't have any trouble putting batteries in.Although the feel and look of the dinosaur is real and unique, a stuffed animal would have been more educational and less disappointing!I guess it will become a figurine on a shelf!I'm late in writing this review, because I just wouldn't give up hope, until now!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantasticasaurus!
This was a Christmas gift for my just about 4yo son who is very much intrigued with dinosaurs, his favorite being T-Rex!I was very impressed, as was he, at it's "realness".Very life like when it gets "ROARING" and stomping around!Great gift for a dino lover..just keep batteries handy. There is a switch on the dinosaur that you must turn "off" and you must close up the hand held remote as well....try explaining that to a 4yo! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My nephews love these!
I bought these for my nephews and they totally love them!

My sister says they won't go in the bath without them. They tap on the drums and then tap on the tub, wall, and spout to get all kinds of cool sounds and rhythms going. They also use them to dump water on their head to rinse shampoo and as a view scope to see the bottom of the tub through the bubble bath.

Good clean fun. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Every kid should have these
My kids have both kinds of magnets, these and the plastic letters with the little magnets in them. They love to play with all of them, but they get frustrated when the plastic ones just slide down the fridge, or when the magnets fall off. The plastic ones end up under the fridge; their thicker profile and poor magnets are a bad combination. This kind is MUCH better; they'relightweight and completely covered with magnetic material on the back. They don't fall apart and they stay put! Less frustration for the kids, less hassle for me: It's all good!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best set of ABC magnets out there!
Like a lot of people, I grew up with those plastic alphabet letters on my fridge. So when my son was around 2 years old, I figured it was about time to get a set for our home. We were fortunate enough to get this set as a gift. I was truly impressed! This set is by far superior to any others I've seen on the market. They're large and colorful, and the entire back of the letter is a magnet. Not just one little square. They really stay put on the fridge! I also like that they're wood. Sure, bite marks would probably show up more on the wood than on plastic. But overall, I think the wood is far more sturdy and durable. All the letters come in a nice wood box with a sliding clear lid, making it easy to keep everything together. You really couldn't ask for more!

3-0 out of 5 stars not pleased
My son got these when he was about 2.Right out of the box, some letters were de-magnatized.He enjoyed playing with them on the fridge for a while, but some of the affected letters were in his name - the first things kids usually spell. He has learned some of his letters, but I wish we had the old fashioned plastic letters. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Kids Guitar
This guitar seems to be a well built guitar for kids who are interested in learning, but who are too young to go out and spend a $100 or more on a guitar.I received the guitar today and played with the tuners. They seem to be tunning.I need to get it fully tuned to see how long it stays in tune. From what I understand it takes a while before the strings get worn in so that you don't have to tune it as much.I plan on tunning it several times before Christmas. My 6 year old son should like this guitar, and hopefully learn a few things from it too! This guitar has the feel of a grownup guitar without the grownup guitar price. My only negative so far is the guitar pick guard was alittle scratched, but it's probably going to get alot worst off when the kid get it!All in all, for the price.I feel this was a good purchase!

4-0 out of 5 stars Review of Hohner Acoustic Guitar with Songbook
The Hohner Acoustic Guitar seems to be well crafted. The hardware seems to be of good quality and the sound is good for a "toy" guitar. The songbook, well......it has a lot to be desired. So don't buy it for the book.It has three songs in the "U.S.A." section and the directions for using the book and the 'dots' are too vague for me and my child to understand. Therefore, playing the three songs in the book is virtually impossible. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent "intelligent" game for all ages !!
Games has a simple objective -- get the Red car out of traffice. And boy! it is difficult and changelling at higher level. Set up the *cars* as described in cards and figure out a way to get the Red Car out.The best thing is complexity raange from very easy to very hard. So it captures kids interests and provides the extra incentive to move to the next level !!

Simple rules -- once you have placed the cars on the Grid, you can only move them forward or backward.

A great addition to this game is "Rush Hour 2, 3 and 4 Gift Pack" for less than $12/-. Each set has 40 cards or in total 120 different combinations are possible. The highest level is really really difficult. Meant for the "Pros" only !!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Challenging and fun
This game is a real attention-grabber for my 5 year old. Keeps him busy and quiet--great for me, too! :)

Editorial Review

This talking book comes with an interactive "magic pen" that works like a hand-held computer mouse pointer. Children can opt to turn the paper pages and listen to the story read with different voices for each character. Or they can interrupt the read-aloud session to play with the magic pen (permanently attached with a wire). They can point the pen tip to any word on a page and hear it pronounced, or touch a picture and hear a sound effect (such as "Strike one!" for the baseball bat). Very similar to the popular Living Books computer games, this 10-by-11-inch book is more portable than a home computer. Stories in this set include Lil's Loose Tooth, Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever, and Winnie the Pooh in A Sweet Good Morning. The set also includes a paper piano keyboard and map and human anatomy games.--Gail Hudson ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I would pick this over the writer's Leappad
I have both a LeapPad+Writing and regular LeapPad like this one, and I can honestly say that the extra writing feature is not worth the extra money.Stick with the LeapPad regular and get a lot of LeapPad readers.Make sure that you don't buy this if you have babies that tear things up, though. My son has all the LeapPad books, but half of them are unsalvageable because of my toddler that likes to chew on EVERYTHING.The LeapFrog customer service is awesome, though... they have replaced my books for $10 each so I don't have to go out to buy new ones!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Toy I have ever bought
I bought a pink and purple LeapPad for my daughter when she was three for Christmas. She is five now and still plays with it every single day. Everytime a birthday or Christmas rolls around she asks for more LeapPad books. This toy has been a godsend during car and plane trips, hotel and restaurant entertainment, and any other situation when children need to sit still.

She has learned the alphabet, numbers, spelling, and reading from countless hours on this pad. She owns several books and each get used all the time. I think this is honestly the best toy invented in a long time. She has been able to figure it out because it is well thought out for the young user. They can hit the stop button with the pen to stop it, or hit the Go button to continue each story. Each book also has games and other activities, so they are well worth the money. It is impossible for my daughter to get bored with it because each book is countless hours of reading, games, music, and excitement.

I encourage all parents of young children to buy this LeapPad. It is well worth the money. It is a toy that they will not grow out of in a short amount of time because the books range in ages.It is not only educational but very durable. Our LeapPad has been dropped countless times and is still intact. The only complaint I do have is that it tends to consume batteries quickly and you need a screw driver to take off the cover to put new ones in. Other than that, that is the only negative I have to say about the LeapPad.

2-0 out of 5 stars Toooo sloooowww for my boy

Editorial Review

This LeapPad book and cartridge brings to life the heroic adventures of The Incredibles. An interactive reading experience that allows second-grade readers to practice reading comprehension, spelling, vocabulary, synonyms and antonyms, and compound words, all to a musical accompaniment, The Incredibles (the booklet) fits into most LeapPad portable units. Youngsters use the "magic pen" to point to words and pictures to make them come to life, or to initiate games and activities. Kids will have so much fun, they won’t even realize they’re learning a thing or two! --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars handle with care
I love Leap Pad, but there is a catch. We've bought 3 pads (the first one broke almost immediately), and we've owned about 10 different books.Of those 10, only 3 still work. One got wet.Several were placed in toy boxes or kicked under beds.Once these books have been dropped a few times, or buried under toys, they cease to work correctly (if at all). They ARE only cardboard, after all.

The children who will get the most benefit and fun from these toys are young - say kindergarten through 3rd grade.Older kids are going to be less satisfied with the format, and will probably be happier working on an actual computer.Leap pad is particularly great for long car trips, but make sure the little game cartridges don't go missing. Also, the wire connecting the stylus to the pad can become caught when the pad is shut - and once that wire is ruined the pad is ruined too.

As I said, I think leap pad items are great. They can help a child with reading, spelling, basic math - all in a fun and stress-free venue. But these books are easily ruined by little ones.Your best bet may be to keep the leap pad books and pad out of reach of the kids when you can't be there to supervise, so that you can oversee the care and handling of the books and pad.

Leap pad is a good value, but only if you can make it last a while. ... Read more
