It looks like a Jedi light saber (and surely more than one Star Wars fanwill play with it as such), but this unique and colorful toy is actually a snappy way tomaster multiplication. Create multiplication problems by turning and spinning the dials. Then, with a click of a button, an LCD display screen lets you see and hear the correctanswer. Catchy music makes learning fun, and a friendly, cartoonish voice repeats theanswer, then encourages and congratulates with each success. Included are simpleinstructions that make learning and using easy. This cool tool can be used to build mathequations, self-test, learn multiplication tables in sequence, or be tested with randomequations. Made of hard plastic, this item is extremely portable and has automatic shut- off. It is somewhat loud, however, so it's not appropriate for quieter environments.--Tom Keogh ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great learning toy
This toy helped my third grader be one of the top in his class with the multiplication facts. I would have him bring it in the car all the time ...he had a ball. He especially enjoys the race against the clock.

4-0 out of 5 stars Super product
I bought this for my son who was having a lot of trouble remembering his multiplication facts. He is typically a good student. When he was in fifth grade he was getting poor marks in math due to not knowing his facts. We tried flash cards, games, nothing helped. When he first got this he would want to play with it on his own, which was great. After he got bored with it I would encourage him use it, which he did. After just a few months he learned his facts by heart! What a painless and fun way to learn something so dull, yet vital. I think this is a great learning toy.

Horse-lovers will enjoy painting three wooden horses, which can be used as refrigerator magnets, hanging sculptures, window decorations, and toy figurines. The kit includes three 5-inch handcarved horses, nontoxic acrylic paints in five colors, shiny varnish, and a paintbrush. Each horse comes with a press-on magnet, hanging accessories, a suction cup (for window use), and a small gift tag. An easy-to-follow instruction sheet includes compelling facts about the history and nature of horses. Colorful photos on the box show horses in their habitats, serving as the artist's guide to authentic renditions. Children may want to give these items as gifts, use them to decorate their rooms, or simply use them in creative play. --Joan DeClaire ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money!
I bought this horse kit for my 10 year old daughter for Christmas. The kit was much smaller than I thought it would beand one of the horses in the package was broken. It appears to be made of a cheap wood/material.I would not recommend this toy to anyone!I am very surprised that this toy won an award for "Best Toy".What a disappointment!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars The Legless Horse
Taking into consideration the reviews of others that the horses may arrive in pieces, I purchased this item for my niece because she loves horses. It arrived today and -- as warned -- one of the horse legs was broken off.It appears that it can be glued back on without much effort and I will do so before gifting it to my niece, however, this review will add to the fair warnings that your horses too may arrive legless or headless and to be prepared.I expect the product to be well received, but I have given this product an average rating because the consumer should not be responsible for pre-use repairs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun model painting kit
I bought this kit for my 9 year old sister-in-law and she enjoyed painting the wooden models. There was plenty of paint and she mixed some of the colors (the instructions give good recommendations). She also painted the cards with the names of the horses she decided on.I was impressed with the instructions, horse facts, and helpful tips that came with the kit; the little wooden figurines are even hand carved. One of the horses she painted became a Christmas ornament (the string and magnets were a nice touch). Overall, it's a great kit. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Cheap, Cheap Plastic Not much fun
This looks like such a great toy, and the packaging is really impressive, but don't be fooled like we were. I assumed that by paying close to 25 dollars it would be somewhat durable-just reasonable durability-I don't expect much from plastic toys...but this is really really bad. You might also think that paying that much would give you things like closable doors...you know, 99 cent matchbox cars' doors stay closed, but the space shuttle's doors don't-which limit it's "fun" factor. The "movable arm" is just a free floating plastic stick that simply is stuck into a hole..It doesn't even stay in. The "launch pad" and the fuel tank/boosters are down right horrible. They don't connect to the shuttle, which was disapointed all of us, especially my son. And it is so cheaply made, I really can't believe that it wasn't bought from the dollar store. My son was so excited for this set. But after playing with it for just a few minutes he hasn't gotten it out again. I would definately NOT recommend this

5-0 out of 5 stars Lauch time!!
We have been searching for a shuttle for a year now and are glad to have found this one.The shuttle itself is durable, yet safe enough for my one year old to play with as well as my older two. They love to fly around, dropping off the rocket boosters and the re-landing on the launch pad.The space vehicle and astonauts are an added bonus, even though they do not fit together. As a first shuttle toy, you can't beat it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome !
I added this toy to my son's xmas list. With much luck he did get it; and we are pleased ! I would not say that it's a "fun to play with" toy but the entertainment value still exists. The planets are large enough without being overbearing up on the ceiling. They glow at night..which is the best part !! At 36 years old I can't wait fornighttime to hang in my sons room to check out theplanets! The stars the set comes with are perfect. They are NOT the bulky plastic ones that can be seen day or night. They are paper stickers that disappear during the day (on the celing they do anyway) The planets come with name stickers which adds educational value. My son is five and LOVES, LOVES, LOVES these planets. I say get 'em !!

4-0 out of 5 stars good toy
I bought this set for my 10 year old daughter and she loves it. The planets are easy to snap together and there is plenty of paint. My favorite feature is the glow in the dark paint. It can be painted on after the regular paint dries, or you can mix it with the colored paint for a different effect. It didn't glow as bright as I'd hoped, but that wasn't a big deal. The paint dried surprisingly fast, we were able to apply two coats of colored paint and the glow in the dark stuff in under two hours. I would recommend using a smaller paintbrush than the one included. We used a q-tip for the details. The sun and Saturn come with plastic rings, and there is even aposter of the solar system. The mobile was pretty easy to put together, and the instructions are very clear, my daughter did most of it by herself. We have it hanging on the ceiling in my daughter's room, so no one can touch it. When we were hanging it up, I accidentally scratched Pluto and some of the paint came off. Overall this is a great toy. I would recommend this toyfor older children. I can't see a five year old painting details on the little planets and putting together the mobile.

People have been fascinated by rockets since the first ones were launched in China almost a thousand years ago. Now your kids can observe the principles at work behind rocketry with the Meteor Rocket Kit from Scientific Explorer. The kit contains everything rocketeers need to build a rocket and send it shooting to heights of 100 feet. Rather than using gunpowder or liquid fuel, the Meteor is powered by baking soda and vinegar, so it's safe and can be launched again and again. A specially designed fueling module lets kids experiment to find just the right vinegar and soda mixture. The informative guide gives detailed instructions as well as information on rockets, chemistry, and suggestions for experiments. This Scientific Explorer kit is a 1999 Parents' Choice recommended toy. --Lisa Whipple ... Read more

the rockets i usually launch go about 1500-3000 feet inthe air so this to wasn't as good ,but then the rockets i like have fire come out of the bottom and are more fun yet the get lost to easy you have to go a big place to luanch them and the engines are sold separtly. Editorial Review

The Dino Math Tracks game (winner of several prestigious awards, including an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal) is a race around therainbow with a pack of pintsize, prehistoric pals. An unusual spin on atypical roll-the-dice-and-move game, it spotlights the mathematicalconcept of place value and gives kids reinforcement in what makesour base-10 number system tick. Each player is allotted one dinosaur foreach of the four tracks (the tracks are labeled 1s, 10s, 100s, and 1000s).To play, a player rolls four dice to create a 4-digit number andthen moves his or her prehistoric posse to the appropriate 1s, 10s,100s, and 1000s places. Problem-solving strategies are honed as playersscurry to get all four miniature mammoths or tiny triceratops into thedino haven, ahead of the other players' thundering herds. But look out!In the race to dino utopia, it's easy to get bumped by a babybrachiosaurus!

The Dino Math Tracks game provides multiple levels of play for a varietyof ages. At the simplest level (perfect for a first-grader who knowsArabic numerals and one-to-one correspondence), kids use only the placetrack for the 1s. Later, cards with simple problems are introduced("Stuck in a tar pit! Move your 10s dino back two spaces!"). At the mostadvanced level, players might encounter a question like this: "Your 10sdinosaur forgot its pants, so it went back 15 to get them. Then ithurried forward 25. How far did it get? Move that many." Young playerswill find the 2-inch, spunky vinyl dinosaur playing pieces irresistible. The game offers plenty of opportunities for friendly competition andbrain bending--not to mention lots of nonthreatening practice ataddition and subtraction. --Julie Ubben ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A real winner!
This game is great! The tiny dinos spark my 5 year-old son's imagination and enable him to have so much fun that he does not realize he is learning.Furthermore, he does not want to stop!!!He learned place value up to the thousands during our first game. After each roll of the dice the player uses all four dice to make a number and then s/he reads the number aloud (i.e. ifyou roll 6666 you say six thousand six hundred and sixty six).As we move our dinos around the board T.R. looks forward to our pieces landing on the same track so that we can have a "Showdown".In a "Showdown" you simply have to roll a dice and the person who gets the larger number wins. However, we move our dinos to the middle of the board and have a miniature battle. The player who rolled the larger number wins the battle. The loser is sent back home and the winner gets to move ahead. After playing the game a couple of times without using the cards - which is the simplest level of play with this game - my son asked to use the cards. So on Day 2 we began using the cards.Again he uses his imagination and does a great deal of role play as he carries out the instructions. It fills my heart with delight to see his excitement and to see that he has truly learned how to read numbers up to the thousands. (T.R. learned to read when he was 4 so he independently reads the dice and reads the cards.)

As a parent I highly recommend Dino Math Tracks because kids quickly learn a lot while having loads of fun. This game can be played at three levels, so it grows with your child.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun!Colorful!Math skills to boot!
My child loves this game! Each person has a single type of dinosaur in four different colors. Each color represents one of the placement values; Ones, Tens, Hundreds, Thousands. The dinosaurs, as determined by roll of four dice, have to walk their color-coordinated path from start to finish. But look out! If an opponent lands on the same space, a die-rolling duel ensues, with the high-roller prevailing. This basic game is a lot of fun for young children. Then there are two decks of cards, one more advanced than the other, which enable the parameters of the game to expand with the child's developing math skills. My child and I can play on even ground - a rare trait in today's games. This comes highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars My kids love this game
I was not too excited when my kids got an educational board game as a gift, but my kids took right to it and still ask to play it on a regular basis a year later. They have learned a lot, and I am buying this game as a gift for our school friends this year.My only gripe is that the numbers wore off the dice, since the kids played the game so much! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Pets In The World!!!
I love my sea monkeys so much! They are so cute! But they are very, very tiny. Do not be sad if you do not see them right away. They are still there even though you can't see them. I began to see them on the second day and you will too! The million bubble air pump is very important because they will die
without air. This set comes with everything you need! I'm going to feed them for the first time tomorrow and I can't wait!I hope you have fun too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Almost the best set!
i am happy that this awesome set comes with all you need to start a great family of awesome sea monkeys, considering i have some of my own. these are the best!!!!!! you can actually revive your sea monkeys if they are dead!!!!!! HERES HOW: IF YOUR SEA MONKEYS DIE, DO NOT DISPAIR!!!!! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LET YOUR SEA MONKEY WATER EVAPORATE. THEN, YOU WILL SEE TINY SALT CRYSTALS(OLD WATER PURIFIER), ALSO TINY BROWN EGGS, AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR TANK. THEN FILL YOUR TANK WITH BOTTLED WATER, PUT IT NEAR A WARM, SUNNY WINDOW.... AND PRESTO!!!! YOU GOT YOURSELF A NEW BATCH OF HAPPY SEA MONKEYS!!!!!(AGAIN!!!) HAVE GREAT FUN WITH IT!!!!! P.S. THANKS FOR READING MY REVIW!!!! I HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL, CAUSE THEN, MY TYPING WON'T BE WASTED!!! BYE-BYE!!!!!-L.M.

5-0 out of 5 stars FUN FOR KIDS AND ADULTS!
I bought this set for my son's 7th birthday as he has recently become obsessed with sea creatures. He was so excited to have his own little "shrimp" to raise. We hatched them on a Sunday morning and he was disappointed because we couldn't see anything. But by the next day, they were visible with the magnifying glass (you had to look hard, though). On the 2nd day, they were visible without the magnifying glass. Today is the 3rd day since we have hatched them and they are the cutest little things! The look like tiny little white tadpoles almost - fluttering through the water doing flips and swimming in circles. I think I love them even more than my kids! We have 3 dogs and 3 cats, but there is just something endearing about these teeny creatures. I would highly recommend them to anyone who loves animals! This is a great set because it comes with the cleaning tool, the million bubble pump and the aqua leash - it's a perfect starter kit! I'm looking forward to getting some more different sets for around the house! The Sea Monkeys website has a lot of other neat things for your new little pets, too! ... Read more

"Dear Pen Pal, Konnichi wa! We've been to see Mt. Fuji. Name my country! Sayonara, Michiko." Challenge your group with this fast-paced geography game, created in 1992 by Educational Insights, Inc. Everyone begins at the post office. Players twirl a finely printed spinner (built into the game board itself) to select one of 60 countries. If the player can correctly identify the country's location on the board's numbered map, he or she may advance along the path to the finish. Bonus moves are won by landing on "postcard" spaces, listening to the clues on one of the 40 postcards, and correctly identifying the pen pal's country. (The sample postcard above came from Japan.) A more challenging game can be achieved by requiring players to name the country's capital; answers are provided. --Liane Thomas ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Game - BEWARE SHIPPING
This is a great educational family game.
However, please be aware that Amazon ships this game wrapped in a plastic bag with no padding.Another game of the same order was received was crushed and torn on one corner.Amazon promptly arranged a pickup and replacement. This game arrive with crushed edges, but I decided to keep it rather than deal with another return.I figured it could have been worse; imagine a small unprotected board game competing with other shipments in a UPS truck.Amazon used to pack items in a box with packing material. This is no longer the case.Beware.

3-0 out of 5 stars Better for younger children, but needs improvements
Great idea for a board game with lots of learning potential for younger children, however children 10+ years may soon find this formula a little unchallenging. Several improvements could make this a better product; notably, heavier paper for the frequently handled question cards, and a much larger map on the game board. Some of the countries appear too small for grandparents and children with poor eyesight. Also, the spinner is labeled with text that should be larger. With just a few design changes and the opportunity to purchase additional question card packs, perhaps geared towards different age groups, we could recommend this game more enthusiastically.

The ongoing love story of a big green ogre named Shrek and a princess/ogre named Fiona has won the hearts of moviegoers from 5 to 105. Now the story of what happens after the "happily ever after" of the first movie comes to life again in LeapPad's book and cartridge adaptation of Shrek 2. This interactive reading experience allows second-grade readers to practice reading comprehension, spelling, vocabulary, synonyms and antonyms, and compound words, all to a musical accompaniment. Shrek 2 (the booklet) fits into most LeapPad portable units. Youngsters use the "magic pen" to point to words and pictures to make them come to life, or to initiate games and activities. I bought each of my kids one of these last year-to this day they still play with this book the most-we all are a Sponge Bob Square Pants family-we watch all the shows on Nick. It is hysterical listening to the little sound effects in his usual Spongie voice. Some of the theme Leap Pad books do not come with the original voices of the characters, but this one does it is the voice of Spongebob. Nothing like having a yellow porous Sponge help your kids learn to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sponge Bob Reading & Learning Fun!
Highly recommending this Leap Pad Book...we bought it on Tuesday and my son has already enjoyed countless hours of reading, math and matching games. He even brought it with us in the car yesterday. Lots of play and learning value!

5-0 out of 5 stars Had the whole family engaged
My twin six year old boys have had their Leap Pad for two years and this is hands down the best book we have ever had for it.They will even pass up video games and TV to play the educational games in this story. They are the kind of boys who love their characters and this is the first educational book for older children that I have found that teaches through the familiar characters that they love. The whole family enjoys playing the games in this one.It has brought new life to our Leap Pad! ... This soft-sided black nylon case for a student guitar includesmany nifty features. Designed to hold a 30-inch instrument, it hassturdy blue carrying handles. 5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific
We just bought this case for my son's new FirstAct Discovery series guitar. It was so inexpensive that we were sure it would be cheap and cheesy. We wrong! It's durable, attractive, has two convenient handles, and a pocket up front for extra strings and music. This is a must if you own a Discovery series guitar.

1-0 out of 5 stars Please read to avoid any problemsFirst Act guitar case $9.99
I cannot really rate this item because I never had the chance to actually use the item, due to a lack of information in the description of the guitar case. The description did not contain any information regarding what size guitar this case would hold. Hopefully, people wanting to purchase this will read my description so they do not have the same problem.
This guitar case will only hold a 30 inch guitar.I feel it is important information that should be in the advertisement.I couln't send this without rating the fun, educational value and durability so I just gave it the lowest ratings since I really never had the chance to use the guitar case with our 36" guitar. So this may very well be a great guitar case, we just never had the opportunity to find out. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Count me among the disappointed
A few days ago I had the audacity to write a review before I ordered this planetarium, because my reading of the reviews of this and one other toy planetarium suggested that two "disappointed" dads were confused. I said I would write another review once the planetarium arrived.

Well, I just received the planetarium, and I now count myself among the disappointed.

So, I'm writing this review to correct the earlier one, written when I had only ordered the Space Theatre, but before it had arrived. Due to rules governing this site, I could not post this corrected review til I removed the first.

The "sky" offered is a very narrow part of the sky, maybe 20 degrees of arc, just what might be seen straight above, with no peripheral view. There is no attempt to reproduce stars closer to the horizon or even those as you gaze upwards 45 degrees.

And the "stars" as projected on my ceiling, just eight feet (2.44 meters) above the floor, and about 2 meters (6 or 7 ft) above the table on which the planetarium sat, are each much too big, not pinpoint stars at all. Each star is about a centimeter or two in diameter, as if every star in the upper sky were suddenly enlarged, blown up, with not enough dark sky between them. Instead of a dark night sky, with little starlights, we have instead a polka dot sky, with hundreds of flat circles of light, like so many large buttons thrown onto the ceiling.

Only when the planetarium was held up high, only a foot from the ceiling, did the stars have an appropriate small size, bright intenstity and tight resolution. But then of course, with the light source and theater so close to the ceiling, the reproduced "sky" was only about a meter across.

I did not open the CD or any of the other materials, because it is clear that I will need to return this.

It is strange, the planetarium that I had as a child, nearly fifty years ago, when plastic toys were all brand new, was a full nearly 360 degree black sphere, with very tiny poinpoint holes, which projected stars throughout the entire room, ceiling and four walls, no doubt distorted a bit by the walls, but not limited as this one, to just such a tiny midportion of the night sky. We could see the morning sky, the evening sky, and how the sky might look from other distant parts of the world, in different times and seasons. None of that is possible with this tiny section of sky.

I apologize for questioning our "disappointed dads". [...]

I returned this item.It is sturdy and useful as indoor entertainment, but I wanted my grandchild to be able to identify the constellations outside and the dots just didn't seem to translate to the actual sky.

3-0 out of 5 stars Looks good
I suggest if you're looking for a home plantarium get this one..it's the best you can get.
Like above mentioned this displays a white light until other trashy projectors i.e Star Theatre II = a total waste of time and $35US and they display in shadowy dull and doesn't even fill the entire room...a total waste.
Get this one,you won't regret it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mommy toy shopper for 2 toddler boys (3 and 2).
My boys love this toy.I'm a stay at home mom always searching for fun, safe, educational toys for my boys.I always review the toys first before I allow the boys to play with them. This toy is so cute that I played with it for 15 minutes. I called the boys to show them their new toy and it was a big hit the minute they saw it. My boys are having fun and learning their letters too. This is one of the best alphabet learning toys I've bought so far.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Toy for Preschoolers!
My daughter is 3 1/2 and she just loves this toy.We pretend like she is in school and the teacher is talking to her too.She understands how class is and how different every child is and she finds it very interesting.I think it will help ease her mind before she starts going to school. It has alot of games on it too that keeps her interested in it.I would buy this toy over and over again. It also has a volume button which is great since most toys are very very loud.I would recommend this toy to anyone!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for preschoolers
I bought this two months ago for my four year old.She plays with it sporadically which at first made me think that she didn't really like it that much. But, in playing word games with her orally, she will say "/G/ /G/ /G/...Greg.It's the letter G"Sometimes she has to run over to the game to check to see where the kid with the /i/ sound is, for example. Then she comes running back to tell me the letter that makes that sound. As she gets older, I think she will enjoy playing all of the games available with this toy, but for now, even the small amount of time she spends playing with it has made a big difference in her early phonics learning. ... great globe its nice for learning the cotatants i love it thanx
itis great

3-0 out of 5 stars A little small for the money...
We just got this a few days ago. I had a globe as a kid, so perhaps my criticism is based on my comparisson to it. Note: the globe itself is not 12 inches. It's 12 inches from its base to the very top. I just think it could've been bigger. Had the globe itself been 12", I'd probably be more happy with it. I'd still recommend it, however, as I assume it's not posssible to get anything bgetter in this price range whitch is plenty for a globe. ... Read more
