Editorial Review This neon green and grape roller coaster is impressive in both size andscope. When fully built the coaster stretches 6 feet long and stands 3 feethigh. The directions are detailed and clear, and we had no trouble putting ittogether. It did take us a bit over five hours, though, and it's likely that anychild under 12 will need parental assistance. But assembling it is half the fun. When finished, the track careens so hazardously, it's hard to believe the carswill stay on, but they do! The plastic chain hauls the three cars up slowly, just like a real roller coaster, and the sound effects box re-creates the noiseso perfectly you'll squirm with anticipation. After reaching the top and passingthrough the serpent's mouth, the cars begin their dizzying descent past thesound effects box, which has now switched to emitting enthusiastic and terrifiedscreaming. Gravity and centrifugal force whip the little cars along the rest ofthe track until at last it reaches the beginning of the ride, only to be towedup for another round. If you don't have 6 feet of space, there are instructionsfor a smaller version, and you can turn the sound effects off if you prefer toplay quietly. Entirely worth the time and effort, this is ideal as a familyendeavor. --M. Sullivan ... Read more Reviews (125)

Editorial Review Leave it to LEGO to come up with another great toy that will keep kids occupied for hours, if not days. This 233-piece kit contains everything needed to build a spy robot. The first thing to do is plug the CD-ROM into your computer and download the special features, training exercises, instructions on how to build the blue Gigamesh G60, and 10 global missions for it to complete once ready. A programmable controller allows you to customize the Gigamesh with special features before starting on a mission, so you're as prepared as possible for what lies ahead. The Gigameshs best attribute is its strength, being low to the ground and a bit wide, but it also offers some speed and agility. Its signature features are the six cog wheels that allow it to move in a spiderlike fashion over difficult terrain, and the grinding attachment up front that clears a path. Having two robots work against each other on a mission is possible if you have multiple LEGO Spybotics, or a friend with one. A computer and three each of both AA and AAA batteries are required, none of which are included. --Pam Lauer ... Read more Reviews (9)

Editorial Review It's not quite a model, and it's not quite a toy--it's a ZOID. This snarling Liger Zero X seems like a model because you need to snap it together out of the plastic pieces provided. But it's also a toy, because once you've assembled the well-armed beast, it can move around around and snap its jaws with motorized, battery-operated action. Younger kids might be intimidated by all the construction involved, but the Liger Zero X's step-by-step instructions (and the fact that you don't need any glue or special tools) help a lot. --Paul Hughes ... Editorial Review This small and very simple birdhouse makes a satisfyingwoodworking project, and requires just a hammer and a Phillips-headscrewdriver to complete. Seven precut and predrilled pieces of wood areincluded, as are all the screws and nails you'll need. No decoratingsupplies are included, but suggestions for painting, staining, orvarnishing are included with the assembly instructions. --RichardFarr ... Read more Reviews (5)
That was three years ago and we have had birds nest in it each spring since! This year we plan to buy the kits so the kids can assemble and paint them as gifts for grandparents.
The only time she ran into problems was when she didn't follow the directions. Other than 30 seconds of guidance from me, she *really* did do it all by herself. And don't think THAT fact was lost on her. It was so easy to do (and so low-risk, Mom!) that we would not hesitate to recommend this to any other parent, nor will we fail to buy her the other kits in this series, as long as they match the quality of this bird feeder. All in all, this is one of the all-too-rare toys on the market - it works as advertised, is a blast for the kids, and gives value way beyond its very reasonable price. ... Read more Subjects: 1. Editorial Review Precut wood, a plastic window, screws, nails, and easy-to-follow instructions let you breeze through construction and knock yourself out on décor with this bird feeder kit from Home Depot. All you need is a hammer and a Phillips head screwdriver to get started. The feeder fills from the top and spills food to the ledge as needed. The window allows you a view of the feeder's contents. Paint it, varnish it, sticker it, or do whatever you think says "Eat here!"to the birds of your locale. --Ava Natov ... Read more Reviews (9)

The Wing Zero Custom model is a fun build and looks very impressive with only the stickers.Balancing the thing is a little hard and I definitely recommend gluing the backpack on, otherwise it will fall out.Other than that there really aren't any problems. This is a model, after all, so it's much better for display than it is for playing with.If you really want a toy, buy the arch enemies series of the Wing Zero or the regular figure of it. On another note, I actually have two of these. One I used paint markers to do all the detailing so I wouldn't need any stickers and it looks fantastic sitting on a shelf with the wings spread. The other I painted jet black with silver trim and have it in a fighting pose. That's what the Wing Zero custom is all about, after all; it's eye-candy. In short, it's a great model and if you didn't have a chance to get one when they were first released, now is a great time to do so.Whether you detail it and put it on display, or you play with it until all the joints are floppy and lose; the Wing Zero Custom is a great model and real joy to have.

Once this model is built, it'll look like a cheap light blue crappier version to the model on the box. But one of the ideas in building, is painting. After you painted this (I did mine in black and white) you see that it looks cooler then the model up front. I think it's well worth the cash, and well worth the time once you see what you built.
the first thing youll notice is....ICK its not colered right X_X i dont really care though as it still looks kool but certain modelers will wish to paint it...the whole thing -_- . But the beauty is the WEAPONS!u get 2 shot guns2 bazookas 2 panzer faust missles and a chainmines whip however this is also the reason i gave it 4 durability... the weapons do...fall off of the backpack but dont for the love of god super glue them...as u wouldbt have access to thebazookas but meh. anyway yes its a good kit for anyone...... Editorial Review The last remnant of a 15-million-year-old species, the creaturefrom the black lagoon was neither fish nor human, but a hideouscombination of both. Scales, gills, long webbed claws, and a pulsatingslash for a mouth gave the creature a ghastly quality that catapultedthe movie to instant cult-classic status in 1954. Here, he's forevercaptured in all his heartbreaking grotesqueness: arms raised, heemerges from the primeval swamp with vengeance in his haunted eyes. Hisreptilian companions--a hissing lizard and a venomous-lookingsnake--flank him; in the foreground are the bony remains of a hand. The 29-piece kit's sturdy styrene pieces are more substantial than you'll findin most kits these days; the finished model is about 9 inches tall. It's not complicated, but you'll need care and patience when putting ittogether (and maybe some light sandpaper or an emery board). Paint andcement aren't included, but the instruction sheet indicates colors foreach piece. And if you don't feel like painting the gill-man, he lookspretty convincing in his moss-green unpainted state. --JulieUbben ... Read more Features | |
