4-0 out of 5 stars Cute Toy
My 2 year old son received this toy for Christmas, and although it is not the most educational toy on the planet, he seems to like it alot.It sings, and counts, and says the letters of the alphabet. The shapes features is a bunch of lighted dots trying to form squares and circles, and doesn't do a very good job.Overall, it is a very durable toy, and fun too.And it has TWO volume levels...even at the highest volume level it doesn't annoy anyone in my family.

3-0 out of 5 stars Skip Toby and go for Kasey.
Toby is cute but I wished I would have waited a year and just went for Kasey the Kinderbot.Toby is very basic in his teaching. My 2 year old didn't learn anything new from Toby except the 3 songs.Toby only teaches numbers 1-10.When the ABC button is pressed, Toby will say a letter and display it.If you don't keep pressing the button, he says 2 more letters and then will say "bye-bye".I wish when you pressed the button that Toby would go through the whole alphabet without having to keep pushing the button over and over again. It's like that with the numbers and shapes too.My toddler's Toby happened to break something inside the head.I can hear it rattle around inside.I'm not quite sure what happened to it.Toby still moves, but he doesn't have full motion in his head anymore- just partial.I just wish I would have waited a year and went for Kasey who has so much more to offer.

4-0 out of 5 stars My 20th month old likes this one.
When I first got this for my daughter (at about 13 months old) she was too young and it didn't keep her attention. But not at 20 months old, she loves it and loves especially to sing the alphabet song and view the shapes. This is a good one for the right age! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Occupying
I bought this for my sone when he was 10 months old.He used to just pull on the legs and try to push the buttons. Now, he is 14 months old and still playing with it.He touches the letters on top and is putting the legs in the slots. He has pigured out to just push the tabs in to make it talk though. It keeps in occupied as well as teaches him his colors, shapes, bugs, some alphabets. It can get a bit annoying though.I figured out why! When the batteries get low, it turns on all by itself and talks by itself without any touching it.That's when I know to change them. "Wiggle Wiggle, play with my legs to learn colors and shapes" is one of the sayings. In my opinion, it somewhat encourages your child to paly with it too!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great all-around toy
I purchased this toy as a gift for my 13-month old niece.I was pleased with every aspect of this toy:the size is big and chunky for easily handling; the colors are bright and fun; the lights and sounds are good; the wheels have a funny weeble-wobble effect when you pull the toy; you can easily keep the toy clean by wiping it; the pull-cord is actually long enough to use!.... need I go on?It's great.
I disagree with the reviewer who thinks that the shapes are hard to get into the proper spots because the legs are too short.I didn't think this was a problem at all.
As an added bonus, our 83-year-old great-grandma also had a ball playing with this toy... and yes, she has full use of her faculties. She just found the toy to be clever and fun.
I recommend this for yourself or a gift.

5-0 out of 5 stars Introduced by our son's occupational therapist
My son who is now 17 months old was first exposed to this toy 3 months ago by his occupational therapist. He immediately loved it and soon mastered putting the shapes in their slots. Although he is not yet walking, (due to being in the hospital for six months) he loves to sit and pull this toy towards himself. Now that his therapy is over I am purchasing this toy for Christmas. It's already a proven winner. ... Read more

Editorial Review

This is a happy, noisy toy that should amuse most toddlers. Everything that can be touched reacts in some way, from a trombone-playing frog to a book that sings the alphabet. Our favorite is the colored keyboard that sings each color you press. The tabletop can be placed on the floor for those still in the crawling phase, or can sit on the included legs for a sturdy surface and leaning spot for little ones who are new to walking. If there is any fault with the Learning Table, it may be that it has too many features: each element of the table reacts in two different ways, depending on whether it's in Learn Mode or Music Mode. (Modes are switched by flipping the page of the book mounted in the center of the table.) Though this means more fun stuff for kids to hear, the mode concept is not one that they can be expected to understand, and the effect of the toy's inconsistent reactions is likely to be confusion. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Good for pulling up!!!
My son has loved this toy from the day he got it. He is now 8 months old and learning to pull up and when he sees this across the room he takes off for it to pull up to and play with. He loves it!! A must have!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars omitted letters
I haven't used the spanish version of this toy...but are the omitted letters "ch" and "ll"?These letters have been officially ommitted from the Spanish alphabet within the past few years, at least in dictionaries and new textbooks.Just fyi.

5-0 out of 5 stars very cute
I bought this toy for my six week old baby. She's too little to really care about toys, but she loves to look at the colorful blinking lights and seems to enjoy the music. She lays on her tummy and spends good 10-15 minutes being entertained with this toy. I think that it's quite a miracle that anything can hold her attention that long. Pretty soon, she'll start enjoying the mirror too. I like that this toy uses normal batteries, as I found out that lots of toys use of this type use non-replacable batteries. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Buy it for other reasons
I agree that the toy doesn't not hold together very well, and the sounds the dolphins make are kind of strange. That being said, we love this toy.We use it for counting and colors and it's wonderful. Our 2 1/2 YO girl loves playing with it; it's her favorite tub toy.So, know that it's not a magical, musical tub toy, but it is a lot of fun.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun Toy
I disagree with many of the other reviews here.We just picked up this toy used, at a Thrift Store for a dollar, and it was well-spent.The dolphins, do indeed make sounds (whistles of differents tones) when you lightly tap their heads. The only time they don't make sounds is when they get too full of water and you just have to empty them out.As for the rings staying together, we are missing one, so I didn't know that the were supposed to form a big ring, but we build chains with them, and have had no trouble at all with them coming apart. My son is 6 months old and he just loves his dolphins. He hated baths until we brought these home! Now he squeals with excitement when we run the bath water and can't wait to get in the tub!

1-0 out of 5 stars disappointed with toy
I bought this toy for my kids thinking that the music would be great but this toy does not make music at all.One would really have to strech the definition of "music".I was disappointed because the box makes it looks like it would be a great toy.My son got very irritated at the rings not staying connected.I returned the toy. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Our 4 month olds LOVEY
WE think all babies and children should have "loviys", my 20 month old twins have the "my firt puppy"s and my new 4 month old has this! He kinda picked it out, well out of all of his stuffed animals he likes this one the best. He really cant hold him, but if you hold him with him, he goes crazy, he babbles and chomps on his ears. We have dubed him "tux" because he is wearing black and white like a tuxedo (and its easy to pronounce!). He does have a little rattle in him, and my son just loves that. I even feel comfortable leaving tux in his crib, he is easily washable and we will definatly be getting more!

4-0 out of 5 stars Soft & Cuddly
This cow is the softest stuffed animal.I bought this for a friend's baby for Christmas. When I opened up the package and felt how soft and cuddly he was, I said I wanted to keep him for myself!!I think any baby or child will enjoy having this stuffed animal. There isn't anything "exciting" about the cow, he will just keep someone company and provide a good snuggle!

5-0 out of 5 stars Moo Cow is the BEST!
Our little guy is almost 11 months old and this has been his favorite snuggle and teething buddy since he was about 4 months old. We named him Moo Cow and have made up all kinds of silly songs that rhyme with MOO (can you just imagine?). Moo Cow is a must at bedtime, washes beautifully, and is by far the best. Moo Cow even rides on the back of a remote control car to the delight of my son (who of course isn't controlling the car, my husband is!)Baby also talks and signs to Moo Cow, has shredded Moo Cow's tag and one of Moo Cow's ears isn't quite the same as new. We're ordering a couple more to rotate while in the laundry. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toys
We really like these toys and we like to take them with us when we travel. My daughter also has the Drum/ Music Set by Parents Magazine which she actually likes better. But these are great to use and encourage musical skills with your children. They are easy to listen to and are very durable.

5-0 out of 5 stars great toy!
My eight-month-old daughter really loves these instruments! We bought them when she was about four months old, but when she picked them up she'd often clunk her head with them when she tried to wave them around.I brought them back out when she was six months old and had a lot more arm control. Now she really goes wild with them, especially the bells!

5-0 out of 5 stars brings lots of smiles
My daughter plays with this toy at Grandma's house. Theses "instruments" are usually the first toys she pulls out to play with. The bright colors and different noises definitely interest her. She loves to shake them and make noise. They are great little toys to throw in the diaper bag when you're on the go! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars keeps her busy
I got this for my 5 month old.. Its helped her reach and hold herself up while sitting.

4-0 out of 5 stars We liked it.
I think this product is pretty good.My daughter loves music and lights, so this had both. The drawback was that it doesn't work on plush carpeting.Great on hardwood and tile floors though.

5-0 out of 5 stars We love this toy!
We received the crawl & move ball for Christmas from a friend. My 6 month old son immediately took to the lights and sounds and reaches for the ball whenever he sees it.The circular motion brings it back to him so we don't have to get up & do it ourselves, letting him play by himself while we make dinner, clean house, etc.I haven't had any problems with over-sensitive buttons or with the ball making noises for no reason. It does occasionally pipe up with a "where's the cow?" kind of question to encourage baby to play, but otherwise it's quiet and "goes to sleep" after a period of rest which saves the batteries.I will be recommending this toy to all my friends! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars decent driving toy
I bought my son this driver when he was about 7 months old.At first he loved it.It makes all sorts of entertaining sounds for a baby. His favorites were the shifting sounds which he could easily activate (by moving the gear shift). He also loved the radio button especially when it played "Are you driving" (it is the brother john tune). While my son loved the noises this thing makes, I find that they can get very annoying, especially since the low volume is very loud.

After a few months, my son lost interest in this toy.He still plays with it occasionally, but it is no longer a favorite. At almost a year, he still never actually "drove" the toy.Perhaps once he learns to do this, he will regain interest in it.When the wheel is turned, the rollers spin. When they stop, the toy says one of three phrases about the pictures that show up.For example, "green square", "two bees" or "b is for bee" is said when the roller shows a picture with two bees and a green square. This could be educational once my son gets a little older.

One thing my son did learn to do pretty quickly was turn the toy on and off.The switch is sort of like a key in the ignition. It is very securely attatched though.I like that it is easy to turn so that my son can work it by himself. Most toys I have to start for him.Overall, I think I got my moneys worth.$15 dollars is a decent price for a few months of daily entertainment, even if my son never takes to it again. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of stuff to learn!
I like the whole left brain/right brain approach to this line of toys, so I bought this one for the left, and the Music Maker for the right. This one can teach colors, shapes, and numbers all in one toy.Plus, it's a book, so it encourages reading. The only flaws I see so far are that the light-up sun gets covered more with each page turn, and that the "narration" doesn't go in page order. However, this might actually be a good thing, since it would test the child on focusing on the shapes themselves, rather than just memorizing the sequence. Also, if you are going to read the actual printed text to your baby, turn the sound off -- otherwise it will "talk" over your reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fun educational toy for all babies

Editorial Review

This 5-inch-square musical jack-in-the-box--in bright blue, red, yellow, and green--packs a lot of surprises. Hold the easy-grip handle, wind the crank (the round knob makes it easy for little fingers to grab), and it plays "This Old Man." A smiling clown pops up at unpredictable intervals and can be pushed back down easily. As if that weren't entertainment enough, there's a yellow button on one side of the box that squeaks when you push it and a yellow star on the other side that clicks when you turn it. Turn the whole toy upside down so your little tyke can find her own smiling face in the safety mirror. Made of plastic; easy to clean. --Elisabeth Fredrickson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Still havin' fun!
I bought this toy USED for my son when he was one year old; it was in perfect working condition. He loved the surprise of the clown popping out of the box!He also peeked at himself in the mirror, "beeped" the horn, and spun the clicking star. The handle made it easy for him to pick up and bring to us when he wanted to see the clown pop out. Now, he is two, and it is still a big hit because he is finally able to operate the entire toy by himself. It has been over a year since we bought it (second hand!), and it is still in perfect working condition.I would recommend this to any mom who is looking for a first jack in the box for her baby or toddler--the most ideal time to teach cause and effect.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor mechanics
We have owned this Jack in the box for about a month and a half. The music has already stopped working and we didn't even play with it on a daily basis, much less on a weekly basis.I wouldn't recommend this toy.

1-0 out of 5 stars VERY DANGEROUS TOY!!!!!!!!My daughter got hurt!
We were given this toy as a gift, and at first I was very excited about all the different things it is able to do...until my daughter got hurt! The pig on this toy sits on a swing and swings back and forth. My daughter was playing with it and started to cry!Her fingers got stuck where the pig swings.I honestly figured it was just a fluke, but decided to hold off on letting her play with it until she was a bit older. At 13 months I brought the toy back out and let her play with it again.A few days later her hand got so stuck where the pig swings and I couldn't get it out!!!She was hysterical, and it took quite a bit of wiggling to get her little hand free. Her fingers where very red and she cried and cried!I am so lucky it wasn't a serious injury.PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS TOY!It is now in the trash, where it belongs!

2-0 out of 5 stars ANNOYING AND UNSAFE, IN MY OPINION
My 11 and 23 month old kept getting thier fingers stuck under the swinging pig door. The space is large enough to fit a small finger under and it's not easy to get out! I let it slide the first time it happened to my 11 month old, but when it happened to my 23 month old and continued happening, I put it away. Each of them would panic and scream bloody murder because they couldn't remove their fingers! How much fun is that??Also, the person who sings is REALLY annoying and off key.Not a very good design.

4-0 out of 5 stars High Quality toy for young infants
Yes, I agree with the other reviews saying that the guy who sings "old mcdonald" is off-key, but it really doesn't bother me too much, as there are many other songs to "choose" from. The sound quality of the music is quite good (doesn't sound "tin-y") and the flashing light on the sun is attention grabbing. The buttons are smooth and easy to press. It's a great toy for both babies who are learning to roll to their side, and those who are sitting up. It's a great audio-visual stimulating toy, however there's not much of a fine motor challenge beyond pressing buttons and flipping some switches (ie. there's no knob turning, or lever sliding, or shape-sorting, etc..). I would definitely buy this toy again. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun toy!!!!
My son is eight months old & has been enjoying this toy for some time now.He loves to push the balls through the holes & loves the sounds & music it makes.I am not thrilled with the plastic hammer, as he can bop himself in the head.Great toy though, worth getting!

3-0 out of 5 stars 24 months is a bit of a stretch
I thought this would be a great toy to have my daughter mimick the Wack-a-Mole game. It is cute, but it really is for younger ages, not the 24 months of the upper end of their recommended age range. Had I bought this a bit earlier on, I think I would have been happier with it, but my daughter had outgrown it before she even got it. She does take the hammer and pound on everything else, though. It has the same balls and similar sounds to the Stand Up Ball Blast. I love that product and would definitely recommend that over this one. Actually, get a small plastic hammer for the Ball Blast, and you kinda of have the same thing only much more fun cause the balls have further to travel.

2-0 out of 5 stars BOOOOOORING
This toy is not only hazaderous, but it is a hunk of junk. The balls always end up in the mouth-although they might not be able to be swallowed-they do get stuck in their mouths. The hammer gets lost to easily. It is rather annoying and the kids loose interest in it too quickly for the price. Not recommended-make better use of your money. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 1-year-old is constantly playing with this ball
I bought this set for my son when he was about 5 months old and I have been thrilled at how he has enjoyed it as he has passed from stage to stage.

At first, with limited mobility, he liked holding it or looking at the bright colors. Once he was crawling, he started batting it across the room with his hand, then chasing it excitedly. Now that he is starting to throw things, I am glad that this soft, plush ball is a favorite toy, because it can safely be thrown without hurting anything (or anyone).

The ball is soft and light, making it easy to grab and lift with one hand. It has a quiet bell inside which is fun for him but not annoying to me.

Admittedly, he has largely ignored the cube, but this set was well worth the very affordable price for the ball alone. It has given our son hours upon hours of enjoyment. When he comes into his playroom, it's often the first thing he looks for. It's nice knowing that anytime he's getting cranky, I can just pull out the ball and he'll be smiling and playing.

Sometimes the simple toys are the ones they love best. That's certainly been the case for our boy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Loves to chase it around
My baby who is now 8 months has always loved this set, especially the ball! When he was younger he would grasp it between his legs! Now that he is older and crawling, he LOVES to chase it all around the house! He plays with this toy more than any of the others! I like how it is soft and rolls so easily.

3-0 out of 5 stars Stimulating color for small babies - playful for toddlers!
As a new mother, I thought this ball and cube set was adorable. The recommended age was 3mos+, so I imagined it being perfect for my 3 month old daughter and expected her to actually *play* with it.Consequently, I was very dissapointed when all she did was clutch the toys and took no interest when I rolled the ball and cube towards her.At around 6 mos, I gave up on her liking them and I packed them away for the next baby only to pull them out a few weeks ago. Now, at 18 Months of age, she is nuts about them!Throwing them into the air and bouncing the soft colorful ball across the floor to me.I was amazed at her interest and came back here to check on the review I had written months ago... when I discovered the age span was 3mos - 2 years.I wish I had known that last year!To sum up, if I had known then what I know now, I would buy this set again - only I wouldn't expect to see her actually playing with the ball and cube til she was older.I guess the only advice I can pass along is, the recommended age seems to be set very young and don't worry if your baby is really not interested... because someday, he or she will be. :) ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Toy
We got this toy a week ago for my daughter who is just over 5 months and she loves it.She is lunging forward to get it when it moves away from her and she is able to activate it herself by spinning the middle of the toy (she has even hit the buttons herself).

5-0 out of 5 stars My baby LOVES this!!
Our TRU only just started carrying the whole brainy baby series... and this was a must have... I wish I could have gotten it for her sooner, because she chases it around for a full hour... it is so interesting to her, with the sounds and lights and rolling around... she loves it.If she rolls it to a wall or hard object, it will even roll back to her.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mimi
I am the grandmother of 3-5 month olds (plus 4 older ones.) This about the Left Brain toy. Caroline the oldest, by 3 weeks, loves this toy.It is her favorite. She is teething and the "joy stick" is soft for her to chew on and easily grabbed. The lessons are also easily learned.Any direction turned, it plays letters, shapes, & phonics for them. After 5 seconds it turns off by itself. The music is soft and gentle, too. The twins, Aidan and Avery, like it because it is easily handled and the colorful lights. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Designed for very young children, this is a charming piano withfour large, easy-to-depress square keys in green, blue, red, and orange. When the keys are played, the metal xylophone-style strips on top of thepiano produce sweet chiming sounds. This little piano will enchant yourchild, teach basic colors, and demonstrate a few fundamentals of music.Surprisingly, the notes are delightful even when played all at once--aunique quality in a toy piano. --Sandy Hirsch ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Its fun..
Shes loves it and still plays with it at 2 - she sings along

5-0 out of 5 stars favorite toy!
This was our daughter's favorite toy ever since she was about 3-4 months old. She is now 9 months and still enjoys it. She bangs on it all day long. Her entire little body would start to jump up and down when she would see it on the floor!

5-0 out of 5 stars Musical fun, builds motor skills
My kids really enjoy music, and both can play with this toy. Older babies and toddlers can sing along while Mom or Dad play songs that kids will recognize, and babies can bang away to their hearts' content. We often have music time in our house, and we now have two pianos so each of my daughters can play. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best!!!
This is the best toy for any little one...shop around we bought it much cheaper than listed.Great education/motor skills...ours has been dropped numerous times and still works like new. Great gift...you will be pleased you bought it!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars A must for bedtime
My 17-month-old must have his lantern, his Pooh bear and a glass of water to go down quietly. He will lie down and push the button until he gets sleepy. It seems a bit loud to me, but it doesn't seem to bother him.During the day he likes to set it in the middle of the floor and "dance" to the music. He liked it back when I had to push the buttons for him, and he likes it even more now that he can do it himself.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great sing along and latern all in one
My daughter loves this she is three and loves to sing so this item was right up her alley. She pulls it out and has a great time entertaining herself. She has dropped it, banged it and everything else and it is still going.Batteries since Dec 03 and have not changed them yet.Awesome. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Dangerous
Within 3 days of purchase my 12 month daughter was able to pull of one of the bears very easily, which exposed a sharp metal screw.

2-0 out of 5 stars The loudst toy in the house
We recieved this toy for christmas for our 1 1/2 year old. She likes it but it is so LOUD that I usually turn it off as soon as she walks away and then put it in the toy box. No volume switch. Mind you toys don't usually bother me. she has lots of things that play music. But I don't like this one very much.

3-0 out of 5 stars LOUD!!
Overall this is a good toy.My one year old got it for her birthday. She loves to push the keys and watch the bears dance. The biggest drawback is that is is LOUD!There is not a volume switch. ... Read more
