Editorial Review

With a little help from a bigger friend (parent, guardian…), young children can launch into the world of learning via interactive books. Little Touch LeapPad is designed for tots 6 to 36 months, with three distinct levels of activities and stories: musical rhythms and sounds; short descriptive phrases; and rhymes and early learning. Stories or activity cards snap into the book frame, along with a story cartridge. Grownups will need to help little ones activate the book pages by touching the "Go" button every time a page is turned, as well as showing young "readers" how to touch pictures to make them come to life with developmentally appropriate narration and learning activities. A comfy cushion is attached to the LeapPad platform for cozy shared reading time. Four AA batteries required (not included). --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Too young of a rating
This item has the potential to be a great learning tool, but when my daughter received this for her first birthday the age rating was 6-36 months, being 12 months the person giving this gift to her thought it was perfect, the book asked her to point out the house.....a6-12 month old cant do this, the gift is practially useless until shes older.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Toy, Durable, my Daughter loves it!
My daughter got this for Christmas when she was 6 months old.Of course it is meant to be a toy where the parents sit and play together with the baby.My daughter really fell in love with this toy around the same time that she actively started loving her regular books. My daughter is now 21 months old and can activate the touch pad by pushing it herself. But she was not able to push and activate it until she was maybe 18 months...somewhere around in there...I can't remember exactly when...but around that time frame. But she has always loved this toy because it was something that we did together. She loves the animal World book, Let's get busy Baby, and she especially loves the A to Z adventure book.I think these are the best for the smaller babies and toddlers..they hold there interest more.A to Z is probably better once they start learning there letters.(I bought the Leap Frog Letter Factory movie for my daughter at 18 months and she knows ALL of her letter soounds.Seriously...she loves that moive and now she loves any toy with the A,B,C's)

My daughter will always go run and grab this toy and bring it to me to help her with and we read it together. If you have a child that loves to read books, they will love this.Books were meant to be something that you do together with your small child anyway..I just view it as another book to share with my child. But it is more fun because it is more interactive!

If you are the type of parent that activly plays with your children through the day then you and your kids will love this toy.If you want your kids to play alone without your help then I would wait and get this toy when the child is 2-3 years old when they will be better able play by themselves. But by then they can get the My First Leap pad and it has the pen which the kids love!I'm getting the My First Leap pad for my daughter at age 2-2.5 either birthday or Christmas.I may wait until Christmas when she will be 2.5 because I have so many other Outside play things that I want to get her this summer.

Oh..the pages are very durable. The little ones can not tare them. They can crinkle them up a little bit, but they alwasy lay back flat. The pages look thin and they look like regular paper, but they are not!The kids can't rip the pages!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not great
It doesn't hold my childs attention. Not to mention the buttons are hard to push.If the pages are lying perfectly flat (they are kind of a waxy paper), they don't push the right button. Also, the button that changes the level is right in the book, it should be on the back or side of the machine, baby pushes the button and its changes level. We are constantly changing it back.We have gone through two children with it, and found it to be the same with both. We have many other LeapPad products, including the My First, and the original LeapPad...the others are great. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Save your $$$$
My daughter received this as a gift for her 1st birthday. She did enjoy the music as most do at her age however as stated in an earlier review the toy is not suitable for young children. My daughter could not operate it on her own at all and even I had trouble with it several times.Unfortunatley I eventually just threw it away instead of passing it on to a friend or good will as I do with most other toys. Not recommended.

1-0 out of 5 stars Injury Potential
I bought this for my 15 mos. old for Christmas. You have to wind up the music by a knob on the bottom. The white button you push to make the bear pop up is not easy for tiny hands or fingers. The lid requires strong hands to push it closed. Two days ago, while the music was playing and the bear was spinning around, she tried to push the bear down, without using the lid. I heard her cry out and saw she had pushed with her index finger at the base of the bear and her finger had become stuck between the round base and the area where the bear slides down into. Since the lid was open, the mechanics of the toy was forcing the bear to stay up and try to spin, and since her finger was caught, she could not and did not know to push the bear down again to remove her finger. Her fingertip was pretty red for a couple of hours, even though it was only caught for a second. This toy should be removed from the market since the potential for such a painful and possible serious injury exists. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very sturdy and lovely toy
This is a lovely toy. It is sturdy and has been in the crib of all three of my children. The batteries last a long time. It has been on road trips with us and has worked well. It plays calming music and has lovely 'show' on the ceiling.

Well worth the money.
Enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for road trips!
We attached this toy to the headrest right behind my 2 month old son's carseat so we could travel at night. He loved watching it! There are 2 adjustable straps on the back so the toy will hang securely back there. Luckily I have an older son to wind it back up for him.

5-0 out of 5 stars Keeps son happy at bed time
My son loves this toy!We got it when he was 2 months old and he loved it then, and he still loves it two months later. He gets two light shows every night, and he is almost always asleep by the end of the second light show.I would buy this again, and give it as a gift. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet melody!!!
My 3 1/2 year old and 5 year old will not let me put this toy away, despite they have outgrown it 4 times over. They love the lights and the music. Hopefully by the time they are 18 I can store it away. Very sweet and NOT AN OBNOXIOUS toy like some of the other ones out there. Would recommend highly!

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful toy from birth to toddler-hood
My son has enjoyed this toy since he was about 2 months old. The lights and colors are wonderful. The songs are nice, and there's enough variety that it is enjoyable for adults. As a young infant he would watch it and listen. As he learned to hold himself up while on his belly he continued to enjoy watching it and got stronger. He could mouth the pieces and feel them with his hands as well. I think his favorite piece is the star on top, whenever he sees its smile, he smiles. Once he was able to sit, he enjoyed taking the stars off. When he began crawling, this is the ONLY toy he would crawl back to when his attention was brought to it, this toy helped to cut down chasing after him. Now he is 11 months old and enjoys putting the stars back on. He walks around carrying the pieces and sometimes the post. He throws them a lot and this toy has held up very well. For all the time we have used it, it is still on the same set of batteries. He does not yet know his colors or size order, but I'm sure this toy will help him learn those things as he grows. A great toy!

4-0 out of 5 stars He Likes It...
My two month old likes this toy. He enjoys the lights and the music. I don't know how entertaining it will be when he is actually big enough to play with it, but I will keep it handy for now! ... Read more

Editorial Review

Parents who responded to piano lessons by kicking the instrument mayappreciate this toy as much as a baby will. Two ties hang it from the side ofthe crib, five "keys" on the soft cover conceal five buttons, and colored shapesabove each "key" light up when they are hit or kicked. In one mode, the five"keys" play individually, like piano keys; in another, they play a medley of 10tunes; in a third, they sound out animal names, numbers, and other concepts thatare keyed to the pattern on the cover. The Kick 'n' Learn Piano includes anon/off switch, auto off, and high/low volume control. Requires three AAbatteries. --Richard Farr ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good
I think that this is a great toy because it gives babies a chance to have fun, hear interesting sounds, and learn piano!!!:)

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent toy that grows w/ your child
I read a great review about this product in Parents so I had to check it out for myself. My daughter who was 4 months at the time I purchased this, absolutely loves this toy. It has 3 different levels of interaction: music, animal noises, and counting/alphabet. She will wake up in the middle of the night and start kicking away, and if it's turned off - she'll actually get mad that the music doesn't come on! I initially thought the price was a bit high for a "crib toy" but it's worth every penny!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Too Loud!
This toy is cute and it has held up well but the music is so LOUD and very annoying.90% of our baby's toys play music and I usually love the cute music from my son's toys but this is almost unbearable...listen to it before you buy it! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars It put my daughter to sleep
I got this as a gift when my daughter was born. at first only the sound put her to sleep. then as she gets older the light start to get her attention. I love that it has a sound volume. and a 5, 15 and 20 timer on it. not a must have but it does put my little one to sleep

3-0 out of 5 stars Daughter loves to fall asleep to the music
We received this toy along with a gloworm, when our daughter was 4 months old.She is now 18 months old and can turn the music on and off by herself. If she wakes in the night, I can hear the music playing from her crib and she goes back to sleep. My main issue was that the pages don't light up anymore(we even got a replacement bulb from the manufacturer, but it only worked for 1 day) but now I'm glad they don't work because they were pretty bright. The glow from the face is just enough light in her crib and the music is very soothing for her.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best toy ever
I bought this for my daugter the minute I found out she was on her way.It is very inexpensive, and it is something she now cannot live without. She loves going to bed because she looks forward to listening to the music and watching the lights.Everytime I lie her in her crib, she looks up at the slumbertime glowworm and she gets so excited. The music soothes her and makes her fall asleep.I love the fact that you can program it to go for 5, 12, and 20 minutes. This has helped us with getting her to sleep through the night. My daughter is 8 months old, and when we travel, we take it with us along with the glow worm.We cannot leave home without it.Thank you for this great toy!!!! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money
I don't even know where to begin. Eeyore has a creepy voice that scared both of my kids. (1 1/2 and 6 months old) Instead of getting my daughter to crawl with him, she would cover her face and cry! He would go off all by himself, which was really creepy in the middle of the night. And he broke after a couple of months. Now his voice is distorted and we are going to yard sale him to get him out of the house. He's defantly not worth the money

4-0 out of 5 stars nice idea
i saw this toy on tv and i thought the whole idea of it was so cute.On Tv the baby was playing with it on the carpet but when i got it home it did not move as well.Even with that, my daughter still enjoy playing with it.

3-0 out of 5 stars In the bottom of the toy box
We were just not impressed at all with this toy.We were trying to motivate our son to crawl.I think this scared him away more than it encouraged him to follow. It was a bit difficult to start and did not move on the carpet. It wasn't helpful to try to get our son to crawl on the ceramic tile.Oh well, he is walking now, so all is fine anyway. ... Editorial Review

A soothing alternative to a wind-up nighttime musical toy, this softplush sleeping Pooh, accompanied by his best friend Piglet, can be placed in acorner of the crib and controlled by remote. Playing the music from a distancemeans no more sneaking in to rewind a toy and possibly disturb the baby. Pooh isdressed in a blue nightcap and snuggles on a small pillow, which is a plasticmusic unit covered with cotton. It has a soft flashing light inside and there isan on/off switch underneath. When pressed, Pooh's familiar voice sings alullaby. The blue plastic remote activates one of three choices--soft, tinklingclassical music, a Pooh song, or chirping birds and nature sounds. Parents willneed to decide if the hard plastic pillow unit is a safe choice for their child. The unit comes with three AA batteries, but three more are required for theremote. --Marianne Painter ... 4-0 out of 5 stars My 14 month old still enjoys it...
We bought this before our son was born and use it almost every day still, even at 14 months old.The remote doesn't work very well for us and sometimes it takes a while to manually turn the music off but overall, this is a great product. We even bring it with us when we travel as a family. We love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toy and soother
We bought this for our daughter when she was 3 months old.She is 22 months, still loves Pooh, and it still helps her go to sleep.During this time, I have memorized "Pooh's Lullabee", which is featured in "The Tigger Movie".When I started singing this song to her the other night, she started looking for Pooh.Shortly after getting it I had to remove the music box because she was swinging Pooh around and I didn't want her to hurt herself, actually when I tried to put the box back in Pooh she cried. She loves to hold the music box and will not let it go any farther than the instrumental version of "Pooh's Lullabee".She pushes the button herself and when I hear the nature sounds I know she is asleep.I put this as educational because I let her play with the remote and she is starting to learn that Pooh causes him to sing, the bird is the nature sounds, and the music note is the other songs. She also has figured out that if she puts her hand over the speaker the volume decreases. She still cuddles up with Pooh and Piglet while listening to the music, and having the music box separate allows me to take it out of her crib without removing Pooh so she can't accidentally start him in her sleep. As far as the durability, I am very impressed and extremely pleased because she is not easy on toys.My biggest complaint would be my TV remote sets Pooh off only because when she hears him she has to have him.I am sad that Fisher-Price no longer manufactures this.

1-0 out of 5 stars No Longer Made

This toy is so cute. I love all the pooh products. I did my first baby's in room in pooh so I had to get this when my son started to crawl. It really helped him to crawl.

3-0 out of 5 stars A little too loud
I bought this product based on all the positive reviews. However, I feel that the "Pooh" voice and music is too loud.It makes me a little nervous to have some of the "electronic/musical" toys so close to my baby's ears.I wish it had a volume control.Aside from the loudness though, it is a cute toy and looks like it is fun to play with.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful toy!!!
We love this toy. We got it for our daughters 1st birthday and she loves it more everyday! She is almost 2 now and just enjoys it more the older she gets. It is a great toy and her friends all love it too. I am back buying a few more for her friends upcoming birthday gifts! With all the fancy and more expensive toys out there ( and we have plenty ) this is by far one of her fave and is very inexpensive and well made! Another great product from Little Tikes!
Thanks!

5-0 out of 5 stars loved by all ages
I manage a children's portrait studio and have had the Buzz Mailbox in the lobby for little ones to play with for 3 years.Hundreds of kids have played with it ranging in age from 6-7 months up to 5-6 years. It's bright and interactive for little ones and plays to the imagination in the older kids. The included letters and stacking boxes disappeared ages ago, but kids are always pretending to find mail in it and finding things to put in the slots.I bought two of them for my neices for Christmas 2 years ago and they love them and I just purchased one for my baby who is due next week. This has been the best toy we have had in the studio in regards to durability and playability! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Cute Toy
My 2 year old son received this toy for Christmas, and although it is not the most educational toy on the planet, he seems to like it alot.It sings, and counts, and says the letters of the alphabet. The shapes features is a bunch of lighted dots trying to form squares and circles, and doesn't do a very good job.Overall, it is a very durable toy, and fun too.And it has TWO volume levels...even at the highest volume level it doesn't annoy anyone in my family.

3-0 out of 5 stars Skip Toby and go for Kasey.
Toby is cute but I wished I would have waited a year and just went for Kasey the Kinderbot.Toby is very basic in his teaching. My 2 year old didn't learn anything new from Toby except the 3 songs.Toby only teaches numbers 1-10.When the ABC button is pressed, Toby will say a letter and display it.If you don't keep pressing the button, he says 2 more letters and then will say "bye-bye".I wish when you pressed the button that Toby would go through the whole alphabet without having to keep pushing the button over and over again. It's like that with the numbers and shapes too.My toddler's Toby happened to break something inside the head.I can hear it rattle around inside.I'm not quite sure what happened to it.Toby still moves, but he doesn't have full motion in his head anymore- just partial.I just wish I would have waited a year and went for Kasey who has so much more to offer.

When I first got this for my daughter (at about 13 months old) she was too young and it didn't keep her attention. But not at 20 months old, she loves it and loves especially to sing the alphabet song and view the shapes. This is a good one for the right age! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Broke within 1 week
I bought this toy for my son.The toy broke within 1 week. The pond sticks and keeps saying the same thing over and over again, the blocks, when put into place, sing the same song, one short verse, over and over again.Unfortunately, the little birds get stuck saying the same things as well.It wasn't worth the money for us.My son does like the shapes though.Hope this is helpful as a lot of reviews have been for me.Thanks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another toy my baby loves
My daughter received this when she was 7 and a half months old, and still plays with it every day at over a year old. She lves the bee that circles around- I hear "bzzzzzzz...bzzzzzz...bzzzzzzz" quite often! She also loves to "splash" and hear the numbers (you press the "water" and the toy counts up to ten, one number at a time, each time you press it)....she also loves pressing the birds and hearing the baby and mommy bird talk to each other- they each say 3 phrases. You can also switch from learning mode to music mode.

My baby plays with this toy a lot and the batteries seem to last a long time for all that she plays with it, I'm not replacing batteries all that often. She likes this toy better than some other ones that are bigger and do more amazing things.

It seems like at over a year old, she is going to continue to play with this toy for awhile, so that gets the Seal of Approval from me, like I always say, read my other reviews, I have a Big Thing about getting my money's worth out of toys, and skipping over toys that will lose baby's interest in a short period of time. I like that my baby has played with this toy every day for 5 months and still loving it. For example, she played with her Dancing Bandstand for about a week before she got bored with it, and never goes to it any more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Toy with lasting value!
I got this toy when my baby could sit up and boy, did she love it! She smacked that water so many times, she couldn't get enough it. She liked to pull out the "flowers" and bite them, bang them together, throw them, you name it.

She then learned to walk shortly after buying it and I thought the toy would get no more use. But now she has learned to put the shapes back into the holes and loves to dance to the music.

It is also so sturdy, she sometimes picks it up and walks with it. And we've only changed the batteries once in 5 months. LOVE IT! ...

My daughter is 8 months old, and when we travel, we take it with us along with the glow worm.We cannot leave home without it.Thank you for this great toy!!!! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars nothing special
My daughter is a year old now, and has had this toy in her crib basically from the beginning. She's never really shown much interest in it at all, which is weird, because she loves most other toys that have music and lights and buttons to push. But this she barely plays with, even when I try to get her interested in it.

I think part of the problem might be that the keys are tough for a baby to distinguish (the whole thing just looks like one big piece of cloth), so it's hard for her to tell where she's supposed to push, or even that her pushing causes the sound and lights.Actually, now that she's old enough to understand the concept of a "button," she keeps trying to push on the lights themselves, because they look more like buttons than the keys do.

Also, the music's a little annoying. If you get this as a gift, it might be worth keeping, but I wouldn't run out and buy one.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice but not spectacular
I really liked the idea of having a toy that my daughter could use from a very young age, and this piano seemed to fit the bill.I received one at my baby shower and immediately attached it to the foot of her cradle. My daughter is a big kicker, so she started using this piano when she was only a few weeks old.

I've never had a problem with the Kick n Play, and while I'm not sure my baby yet realizes that she's making it work by kicking it, she does kick it quite a bit when it's within reach. My big complaint is that the selection of music and other sounds that the piano makes aren't very good.On one setting, it plays several children's songs (instrumental only) - the sound quality is OK, but nothing special...certainly not as good as the sound on the Imaginarium mobiles. On another setting, it says an animal name when a key is kicked ("dog") and provides the sound of the animal (again, the sound quality of the animal sounds is pretty poor in my opinion).Another kick and a number is said, then a few bars of a song.Lights flash.Really, nothing too exciting. The songs are the same on every setting; the main difference is how much of each song is played and how many are played in a row.I find the one-word animal and number identification just plain boring.I think much more could have been done with the audio part of this toy, which is why I'm only giving it 3 stars.

3-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't hold interest
My son is 9 months old and is still not interested in this toy (he's has it since 3 months old). He'll play with it for a few minutes, but quickly looses interest.Maybe he will like it better when he's a little older... ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars not practical
The nice part about this toy is that it doesn't take much movement to activate the music, however the toy bar isn't very stable and seemed to hit my child in the face a lot. We ended up taking the toys off the toy bar and letting my son play with them seperately. He has no interest in the stuffed tigger at all.

2-0 out of 5 stars cuter than it is practical
We received this item as a gift for our son. I have to agree with 2 other reviews: Tigger's tail doesn't stay up as it should, (falls backward, as though the toys make it too heavy). Also,I find my child to be annoyed by how 'confining' the toy seems to be while lying underneath, without much room to move at either side. The musical turtle is a bit loud, and goes off at the slightest movement.
While there's no doubt it's cute, it doesn't seem to perform so well.

2-0 out of 5 stars cute, but don't waste your money
This is a really cute toy with even cuter toys, but the turtle sings every time I walk past it so I had to take the batteries out of it and the tail...it's too close to my daughter's face and it won't stay up half the time. It's a great idea, but not worth the money ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars No Longer Made
When i saw this item online i was very excited at the idea of being able to play the music from afar..The bad news is i just got off the phone with Fisher Price and as of 2002 this item is no longer being made. I only rated it so low because im not one of the lucky ones who own it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars MY SON ENJOYS TOY- EXCEPT WHEN IT HITS HIM IN THE FACE
THIS DRUM IS A GREAT TOY IF YOUR BABY LIKES LIGHTS AND MUSIC- THE SOUND S ARE NICE. BUT, WHEN MY SON PLAYS WITH AND LEANS ON DRUM, THE TOP PART HITS HIM IN THE FACE- UNFORTUNATELY I TRY NOT TO LET HIM PLAY WITH ANYMORE.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Son Loves This Toy!
My son received this toy when he was 6 months old.He is now 11 months old and still loves it.He loves just hitting it and watching the lights and hearing the music. It is a very durable toy, my son is very rough with it and it still works great. Also, the batteries have a very long life...we have not had to change them yet.I think this toy is well worth the money.

3-0 out of 5 stars Another toy that wont be played with
