Great shape learner!
This item was purchased for my daughter when she was one and she loved to make the music go, but did nothing for her educationally...until a few months later when we started going over and over her shaped and colors and now at 22 months she can pull out all the shapes and place them in the correct slots perfectly.She is really rough on toys and she has thrown this and dropped it and nothing has gone wrong.Defintely recommend!

Will become a favorite and STAY that way
I love this toy because it has stayed fun WAY longer than other toys he started playing with at the same time (at about 6 months). Those other toys are all now in the "Outgrown" box, but not this one! The shape sorter keeps getting MORE interesting - not less. It's been one of my son's favorites for over a year, if you can believe that! And, it has a switch to adjust the volume, a feature that most parents love. Here's why it stays fun for such a long time:
- At 6 months my son lovedmaking the music play by sticking his hand in the center hole. He also loved pushing the shapes through after we set them in their holes. (I have to agree with the other reviewers that the blue square is a bit hard to push through. It seems to have loosened up over the last year, though.)
- Soon, he figured out that pushing the button inside the shape gave him a "ta-da" sound. (Great fun!)
- At 12 months he got a big kick out of dropping the shapes in the center hole, then shaking them out.
- By 14 months, he was manipulating the simpler shapes (circle, star, etc.) into the right holes.
- At 20 months, he's now learning the colors, and has finally figured out how to rotate the toughest shape (the heart) just right to get it in.

All this out of a deceptively simple toy! It will keep your child HAPPY and learning for a long time. Totally worth your money.

Great shape sorter
I bought this toy when my daughter was 6 months old and she has learned over the past few months what this toy can do. We think this toy is great, she is now 8 months old and will sit and play with it for a long time.She loves, when I arrange the shapes in their slots, she then pushes them in one by one and looks to me for praise in between each one.I, too, however, must complain about the buttons inside hindering the pushing of the shapes in.The blue one in particular is hard to push, some of the time.This is a great learning toy for shapes, colors, music, lights, entertainment etc.This toy is worth every penny I paid for it.Great gift for a baby 6 months plus. ... BORING!!!!! Don't waste the money!
I really thought this gym would be cool when a friend got it for the baby, and it was for about 30 seconds. It only plays one song and the toys are unamusing and difficult for baby to access. My son liked it for a little bit but soon he was bored and irritated with the same playing over and over.Now that I have heard how breakable the toy is, it will be taking a trip to the dump.

good for the baby @ 3month old
my baby njoys this toy and dont cry when we keep him out of Lap. Tries to make hand and leg movements to catch and kick the hanging toys.

Don't buy this
It is so disappointing!! It only has ONE song and it's kind of like a music box type sounding song...it chimes. And the song is less than 10 seconds long and then it just repeats OVER and OVER. There are only 3 lights that flash and they are just little squares blinking. It's not entertaining to my baby and it was a waste of 30.00.. maybe for 15 it might be worth it but I'm not even sure of that.

And the "play mat" is not a mat at all... it's an extreamly sheer peice of fabric.

Excellent toy that grows w/ your child
I read a great review about this product in Parents so I had to check it out for myself. My daughter who was 4 months at the time I purchased this, absolutely loves this toy. It has 3 different levels of interaction: music, animal noises, and counting/alphabet. She will wake up in the middle of the night and start kicking away, and if it's turned off - she'll actually get mad that the music doesn't come on! I initially thought the price was a bit high for a "crib toy" but it's worth every penny!!

Too Loud!
This toy is cute and it has held up well but the music is so LOUD and very annoying.90% of our baby's toys play music and I usually love the cute music from my son's toys but this is almost unbearable...listen to it before you buy it! ... Read more

my son's favourite toy
We gave this to my son for his first birthday.It's his favourite toy.He has so many electronic toys we decided to go with the good old fashioned long lasting toys for his birthday.This one was his favourite.He carries it around baning the drum and blowing in both the whistles.He can't quite blow one end of the whistle, but that doesn't bother him at all.He loves the fact that he can do the other end of it.This was a good toy for him.As for educational, I think that there are many things to discover on it.For such a small toy it has a lot of intrinsic value.He can bang, shake, tilt, rattle, whistle, and wizz this one man band to his heart's content and it will always be interesting.even my four year old daughter likes to play with it.

Good in Theory, but...
the drum hardly makes any noise at all -- and the drumsticks (while safe) are attached, so my son had a hard time stretching them over to beat on the drum.The whistle is a little hard to blow, too.A great idea that kind of lost it when they made this product.

My ten-month old loves this toy!
My son was given this toy for Christmas.He loves to sit and play with it. It has many different parts that make different sounds.The whistle has two different ends with two different sounds.One end is more difficult to make noise with, but he loves to hear his mom or dad blow the whistle.The belly of the one man band is a drum.My son loves to bang on things and this drum makes just the right amount of noise so that he loves it but I don't get a headache. ... This is the worst toy ever!
I got this for my 6 month old son as a christmas gift.It's been 3 weeks and it already lost all tone.It sounds like a dying frog.I don't think my son has been any harder on it than any other toy, I just think this is an incredibly poorly made piano.

MY SON LOVED THIS TOY
I got this toy when my son was 3mths old and he adored this toy. He still plays with it, and he's now 12mnths old. He loves the music and the keys are big enough to push on his own.It had many melodies and they had a lot of familiar songs. This is a great toy for a child.

Didn't hold daughter's attention
We first saw this piano at a playdate. My daughter (7 months at the time) loved it, so I went out and bought it.However, after two times of playing with it at home, she is no longer interested in it.It is a cute piano, but seems overpriced, and seems to get old fast. Sweet melody!!!
My 3 1/2 year old and 5 year old will not let me put this toy away, despite they have outgrown it 4 times over. They love the lights and the music. Hopefully by the time they are 18 I can store it away. Very sweet and NOT AN OBNOXIOUS toy like some of the other ones out there. Would recommend highly!

A wonderful toy from birth to toddler-hood
My son has enjoyed this toy since he was about 2 months old. The lights and colors are wonderful. The songs are nice, and there's enough variety that it is enjoyable for adults. As a young infant he would watch it and listen. As he learned to hold himself up while on his belly he continued to enjoy watching it and got stronger. He could mouth the pieces and feel them with his hands as well. I think his favorite piece is the star on top, whenever he sees its smile, he smiles. Once he was able to sit, he enjoyed taking the stars off. When he began crawling, this is the ONLY toy he would crawl back to when his attention was brought to it, this toy helped to cut down chasing after him. Now he is 11 months old and enjoys putting the stars back on. He walks around carrying the pieces and sometimes the post. He throws them a lot and this toy has held up very well. For all the time we have used it, it is still on the same set of batteries. He does not yet know his colors or size order, but I'm sure this toy will help him learn those things as he grows. A great toy!

He Likes It...
My two month old likes this toy. He enjoys the lights and the music. I don't know how entertaining it will be when he is actually big enough to play with it, but I will keep it handy for now! ... Read more
