4-0 out of 5 stars Future American Idol!
My kids adore this machine! Not only does it go through all the ABC's, shapes, and favorite songs, but it gives them a chance to sing to the music too. They love the microphone effect.Make sure you stock up on batteries! My kids run them out because they use it all the time.I would definately invest in some earplugs if you don't like listening to all that music.I find it very cute when my kids go around singing those songs, though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Leapfrog does it again.....
We bought this toy for my daughter's 2nd birthday and she loves it.I have had no problems with this toy at all. This has a volume feature and my daughter loves singing into the microphone. The songs this plays are great too!All in all, leapfrog has done it again with another great toy.

1-0 out of 5 stars My daughter couldn't hear herself sing.
The volume for the microphone is so low that it is hard to hear the child singing. Also the microphone cord when moved causes static and if the mic is too close to the speaker it will cause high pitch noices. Lastly the voice comes out sounding muttled and that is not when I was using the voice effect. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The boy who has everything!
Our 3 year old has so much that sometimes it seems like nothing keeps his interest for long. This little tin drum keeps him busy and feeling like he is in his own marching band!Cute as anything, we love watching him walk around holding this tiny tin drum around his neck and going to town on it.Great gift!It was a little smaller than I anticipated, would of liked the strap to be a little longer to go around his neck, but not a big deal, he doesn't seem to mind?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great drum for your little drummer boy....
We bought this drum for our (now) 3 1/2 year old son about a year ago. He LOVED it!!! He played it every day, but after awhile, the drum head got a lot of little dents in it and it eventually just caved in. But, a year's worth of fun and music is well worth (...)

5-0 out of 5 stars Super cute, super fun!
We bought this for our 2 1/2 year old Thomas fan. It's really cute and rather reasonably priced. My son loves to bang on his drum, and dance around the living room. He plays it quite often and we've had it for about 6 months, so far we've had absolutely NO problems with the drum falling apart or getting dented up like some of the other reviews have mentioned. Bottom line: great toy for any music/Thomas fan. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Degree in electrical wiring not required but it helps!
This toy, cute though it might look, was clearly designed by a deaf engineer who has nothing but a deep-rooted disdain for parents. Without a doubt, it is the loudest toy I have ever seen. The lack of a volume control is bewildering. I would much rather they save money by doing away with the Play/Demo switch and install a volume control instead.

All is not lost, however. This wasn't the first toy that was gifted to us (curse you, evil mother-in-law!) and I have gotten quite adept at installing a small volume control. You can get them at your local Radio Shack. Well worth the time it takes to learn how to do it. I've "fixed" several toys this way.

All in all, I cannot recommend this toy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really Worth It
We just bought this for my daughter's fourth birthday. The sound quality on ours is very clear, it's easy for her to use, and she is addicted to it. I do wish it had come with a volume control as it is on the loud side. It can be used as a microphone without the disney princesses singing by holding down the stop/applause button while she sings. The cost is reasonable and it made my little girl tremendously happy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Daugter LOVES it!
The only thing I don't like about this toy is the lack of volume control. I think it is too loud for young children. On the other hand, my daughter just LOVES this thing. Several different songs to sing (all disney or princess related). As anyone reading this that has a 3-4 yr old daughter knows, they ARE Cindarella at that age. She just BEAMS whils she sings and dances. She doesn't get bored of this toy like allot of the others. Wanna see your daughter on cloud 9? Buy her this toy. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Dora the explorer learn through music
My daughter recently turned two and recieved this for her Birthday. At first it was very cute, but hearing that song over and over again can get quite annoying. My daughter loves it though. It is somewhat educational.

5-0 out of 5 stars 10 gold stars
My daughter loves Dora this toy is a little loud but it keeps her entertained. I would recommend it to anyone. I even bought one for my cousins 1st birthday. It's his favorite toy. It might be a little loud but I can put up with it for the enjoyment my daughter gets out of it.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a great toy, not nearly as bad as said here
After reading the reviews I was really apprehensive about buying this toy for my 2 year old daughter, but either FP worked on the bugs or some people are just really sensitive. (and I tend to be a quiet-loving person) There are two volumes, one of which is actually quite normal.(The other, though, is obnoxiously loud.)As for my daughter, she loves the toy and quite often has to fight her big brother for it.I think it's a good toy for the money. ... Invite musical expression into your child's world with this delightful tambourine and maraca combination. Made of thick, durable plastic, the doughnut-shaped tambourine houses five sets of mini cymbals for plenty of shake and shimmer. Its easy grip handle makes for comfortable play, even for small hands. The two plastic maracas are crafted of equally tough but comfy plastic. Four wooden beads spin and rattle inside each 8-inch maraca, creating a relatively soft cha-cha-cha. To add to your youngster's musical set, check out the Little RhythmMaker Drum. --Liane Thomas ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lasted about 5 minutes
Santa bought this set for my son for Christmas.I still can not figure out how it happened but he dropped one of the maracas on the tile floor and the clear plastic shattered.Needless to say we took the other one away and threw it in the garbage. I was very disappointed, but he loved it for about 5 minutes!

3-0 out of 5 stars Very Durable Toys for your little musician...
Because my daughter is such a fan of music I bought these toys despite the age recommendation.I'm disappointed to say that she hasn't taken nearly as much interest in them as *I* did.In fact, they rarely get taken out of the toy box.

I have found that she is most interested in them when Mommy plays with her.If I grab the tamborine and start dancing around she will follow suit but will not initiate play with these toys.

I do think these items are very durable. They have taken a beating and are still in tact.

We got the beat! Little drummer girls and boys of all musical abilities will want to thump on this dandy Little RhythmMaker Drum. Colorful dent- and chew-resistant plastic forms its 8-inch wide cylinder. The two sturdy mallets included won't get lost; they're smartly attached to the drum with medium-weight braided cord. The lack of a neck strap means your budding Ringo will be a stationary musician on this instrument. Spice up the playbill by adding the Little RhythmMaker Rhythm Set. --Liane Thomas ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun to beat on, even more fun to sit on!
We bought this drum for our youngest son when he turned 1.He has always played with it, although he struggles sometimes because the strings are too short.I understand that they can't be too long because kids could get them wrapped around their necks, but I really wish they could have made each string at least an inch longer.Otherwise, he enjoys it -- he loves to sit on it most of all, it's just the right height for a sturdy seat! :o)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Instrument!
I got this for my son when he turned 1.He loved to keep the beat with the music, and it was very sturdy when he sat on it.Now he will be 3 in a few weeks and still loves it, as does my 8 month old!

5-0 out of 5 stars The toy my son never gets tired of!
I bought this for my son when he was 1 yr old.He is now almost 4 and still plays with this drum every day. This drum must be unbreakable. He has beat on it, sat on it, and stood ont it for almost three years.
Now my daughter, who is one, carries it around to sit on and bang on.
I am sure this drum will last another three years.
I did have to cut the sticks off of the drum. When they are attatched, my son could not bang as hard as he wanted.
Great toy, great fun, great quality. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Classic and sturdy, this black, solid wood grand piano is an adorableaccessory for your child's playroom or bedroom. Toddlers will love feigningMozart alongside real pianists, or simply getting their fingers prepared forthose afterschool lessons. That said, this piano is not a real piano; the keysare arranged like the real thing, but it doesn't use tunable strings. And whileit gives the proper notes, the instrument sounds more like the toy that it is,rather than a tiny Steinway, as the elegant exterior implies.

The piano hasonly 15.5 inches of legroom underneath, and the matching bench is about 12 by8.5 inches, so kids older than 4 or perhaps 5 years would hardly be able to playcomfortably at it. To get your mini maestro started, a page of letter-codedsheet music featuring short familiar songs, such as "London Bridge" and "JingleBells," is included. A detachable sheet music stand rests conveniently on top ofthe piano. --Diane Beall ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good piano but the stool breaks easily
I bought this last Christmas for my three year old and five year old.Thesound of the piano is a little off, but all in all the piano is nice for the price. The leg of the stool breaks very easily.Don't buy unless you can fix.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good product for the price!
My wife and I knew we wanted to get a toy piano for our little girl, and struggled somewhat with what brand and price range to stick with.I'm glad to have come across this little jewel! Our girl, though only one year old now, plays with it frequently, and likes to hear other people play it.When she's hiding somewhere or getting into mischief, I'll just hit a few keys and she'll come crawling out of wherever she was hiding to join me.

Keep in mind this is a *TOY* piano--don't expect a grand piano sound out of a toy. This utilizes small metal rods of varying lengths in the interior of the instrument to produce the sound, which is a clear, pleasant tinkling; much like a windchime. One note was a bit sour, but I solved this by removing the top cover (4 screws), and adjusting the appropriate metal rod. These slide back and forth with gentle pressure, so it is possible to tune the instrument perfectly. The legs of the piano and stool can loosen over time, but you can easily solve this with a couple drops of loc-tite solution.

There are more well-known name brands and better workmanship out there, but I'm glad not to have spent more than was necessary for a decent quality instrument.

3-0 out of 5 stars Sound is not very good
My 2 year old son got this for Christmas last year and was initially very excited because he loves music. However the piano has a very tinny sound and doesn't even come close to a real piano sound. Also the stool and piano legs have to be tightened often and can come off quite easily. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars These are a hit at infant daycare
They have these puppies at my daughter's infant daycare, and they are a huge hit with the 6-9 month old babies.Just like the other reviewer said, the babies try to stuff the bone-shaped mallet (which is attached so it can't get lost) into their mouths.Because the other babies like this toy so much, I went ahead and ordered it for my baby.

5-0 out of 5 stars Puppy Piano! Weiner Wurlitzer! Hound Harpischord!
This is a fun little dog. My daughter is only 10 months old but she loves to listen to me play it, and also to bang on the keys herself. Of course she eats the mallet more than she uses it to hit the xylophone part, but that is to be expected. I'm not sure why it says 3-5 years. I guess that's how old you have to be to play actual songs, but even my little one loves the instant gratification of poking the keys and getting a sound. It is nice to be able to watch her pick one sound and notice that it is different than the sound made by the next key. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice toy
MUST READ BEFORE YOU BUY IT.
This piano is perfect for what it's designed for - attract kids interest in early age (6m - 3y). THIS IS NOT A REAL PIANO - it's a toy - so don't expected it to do what it is not supposed to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Based on experience
I have purchased several Schoenhut Baby Grands for kids and grandkids in my family, also for friends, and have been 100% satisfied with the quality and tone. This piano is always a BIG HIT, not only with the little ones who started on My First Piano and "graduated" to a larger size, but for first time players, young and old alike. There are cheap imitations, but I opted for a company that has been in business for over a century. Schoenhut, you've got my vote ... and my business .... again and again and again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Grandchildren and Schoenhut
I have a black baby grand that I have had for the past 3 years.I got it for my first granddaughter, which she played every time she came to my house.I thought as she got older she would loose interest but she still plays every time she comes over.Since then I have two more grandchildren and the piano is still in excellent shape, the sound is perfect and my youngest grand child loves to play. The music book is great for teaching them the popluar childrens songs. It has been quite a good teaching tool since the older children have gone on to electronic keyboards.I am very satisfied the the quality and performance of this purchase. 5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome.. is all I can say!
This piano is beautiful. My son has been playing with it for two years now and I am amazed that he actually can play some of the songs from the songbook. He is now 5 years old and I am planning on purchsing the real thing and getting him lessons.Keep in mind though, that it is a toy piano and as the description states, sounds like a toy piano.Schoenhut rocks!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money.
The kids don't seem to mind that the piano is seriously out of tune.I don't think this toy is worth the money. We have a $10 little tykes piano that is easier to pick out songs on.

1-0 out of 5 stars SERIOUS Quality Issues!
The only thing I can say is - BEWARE!There are some serious quality control issues with Schoenhut.I finally received this piano after waiting over a month, and even though it was packaged well and the box was not damaged, the piano was damaged beyond belief! The keys were defective, some were stuck, legs were scratched, and there was a dent on the top that someone obviously tried to cover up with paint. For the price tag on this thing, this is unacceptable!

Do yourself a favor... just buy a cheaper brand at your local Toys-r-Us.Schoenhut has no pride in their workmanship. ... Read more

Young drummers need something sturdy to sit on, but traditional(adult) drum seats are simply too big. This folding adjustable drumstool is designed especially for kids 4 to 12 years old. Simply attachthe screw to any one of five positions, which range in height from 14 to19.5 inches from the ground. The foldout tripod base has rubber feetand a wide stance, so that it's stable when opened completely. At 9.5inches in diameter, the black vinyl seat is nicely cushioned andreinforced with wood. If space is a concern, the whole thing can bedisassembled into three 9.5-to-10-inch-long pieces in a matter ofseconds. Editorial Review

This durable little unit packs in a lot of functions, all of them eminently kid-friendly. Most basically, it’s a tape player that can be easily operated with big, colorful buttons, but it’s also a kind of karaoke machine, letting kids use the included microphone to sing along with the music, or sing a cappella. As if that wasn’t enough, there are multiple settings to warp your voice to sound like a monster, robot, bunny, or Martian. You might have to use your imagination to hear how some of the settings sound like what they’re supposed to (and what does a bunny sound like anyway?), but once you start experimenting with Voice Warp, it’s addictive fun even if you’re a big person. Don’t worry though, you can turn the filter off to hear your normal voice. --David Stoesz ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars very durable
I have the older version of this player. My daughter got it for Christmas when she was 3 and she still plays with it. (she is now 10) Her brother has also used it and now my Granddaughter has started to play with it. It has been bounced up and down stairs and even banged against the wall a time or two. It still plays and sounds good. My kids have enjoyed it so much that my Granddaughter is getting one of her own for her birthday this month.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Voice Machine!
We bought this recorder for our son when he turned 3. I wanted him to have freedom to play his own tapes and also the fun of doing the cool voices. I didn't realize just how much he would actually like this. Not only does he carry it around and talk on it constantly- so does his 1 yr. sister (and his parents, too!). We have laughed so much playing with this as a family. I was hesitant about purchasing this at first but now I am so glad I did!

2-0 out of 5 stars Playback broke very quickly
As at least one other person noted, there is sometimes too much feedback when singing in to the mike. The unit seams built very strongly and is very heavy (too heavy to be carried and played with at the same time), but after very little use, the play button has stopped functioning on the tape player. ... This is in reply to the most recent reviewer who claims the product is unstable for their 9 month old. The manufacturer states that this is for 18 months plus. So why would you rate it for a 9 month old that is going to pull everything down on themselves? Rate this again when your child is the appropriate age and be careful of age limitations and appropriateness especial for the sake of the child's safety.

My 18 month old loves this toy and is way past the stage of trying to hold on to anything for balance.
