Editorial Review After several years in video game retirement, Sonic the Hedgehog returns as the star of a graphically stunning 3-D adventure game that blows away every other game in the genre. Sonic is joined by five of his friends in a massive quest that spans over 50 game levels filled with remarkable visuals and a pulsating soundtrack. Taking full advantage of the unprecedented processing power of the Dreamcast, Sega's development crew, Sonic Team, has designed several gravity-defying game levels that will keep gamers hooked. Our favorite level is Windy Valley, which requires you to survive the stormy perils of a tremendous tornado. This tyrant of nature chases you relentlessly before ultimately sucking you into the air and up through its eye. During the chase, the tornado manages to tear up just about everything on the screen. This dizzying visual spectacle moves so fast that you will literally hold on to the game controller for dear life. Assuming you survive the tornado, there are several more challenging areas to conquer, including a level that requires you to snowboard directly in the path of a fast-approaching avalanche. During the Emerald Coast level, you will race across a precarious dock as a killer whale attacks from below, destroying the wood planks underneath your feet while you attempt to outrun the crazed creature. We also liked the numerous mini-games scattered throughout this title. When you least expect it, Sonic Adventure tosses in some old-fashioned arcade action, such as pinball or bumper car racing. In between, you can raise virtual pets, known in the game as "Chao." These characters, which are saved using the optional Visual Memory Unit (VMU), can be combined with other Chao characters exchanged between friends or downloaded via the Internet. Gamers looking to show off the strong processing power of the 128-bit Dreamcast will definitely want to pick up this title. Simply put, Sonic Adventure's graphics surpass those of any other game currently available on any home video game system. Let the Sonic assault begin. --Brett Atwood Pros:

Good Points- You can play any team, and can either go with the traditional way of controlling whoever has the ball or controlling just one player per play.Either way is fun for me.The teams are updated, and almost all roster changes have been made. You can create a player in any position, and you can trade players from one team to another.I have created a kind of "ultimate" team composed of several super-stars. Bad Points- Graphics not as good as with a big system, but that's to be expected. The team logos aren't in the middle of the field, just the NFL logo, but their names are in the end zone.It can get a little easy once you get the hang of it, but I have yet to try the higher difficulty level, which should change that. Overall, this is a good game.I would recommend it to anyone who likes football games. ... Read more Subjects: 1. Video Games

Nintendo 64 has pretty much become obsolete today with X-Box and Gamecube. However, if you are not into the videogames that are around today, and are longing to play games from the 80's, then you should definately buy this game. A solid 5 stars...

Editorial Review A 3-D action-adventure game starring everyone's favorite webhead,Spider-Man is quite a rarity--a superhero video game that's worth playing.Featuring an original story jam-packed with characters and locations from thecomics, and, more importantly, gameplay that does our hero justice, this is onetitle that won't disappoint Spidey fans. While Spider-Man's story line (told via a slide show of comic book panels)is linear, there's great freedom of movement within the game's 3-D indoor andoutdoor environments. True to comic book form, you can climb walls and travelabout webswinging, although the former can be disorientating in terms ofpoint-of-view, and the latter is often a leap of faith, as the game's shoddygraphics (even with the optional Expansion Pak) create a restricted field ofvision. In addition to being able to do all sorts of nifty things with yourwebspinners, Spidey's superstrength, superagility, and spider-sense (for whichyou'll want a Rumble Pak to feel the patented tingle) are also accounted for. Asfor his superhuman reflexes, well, that one's really up to you. --JoeHon Pros:

This game has below average graphics for the N64's power. 1 1/2 Star. The Plot Line is great and includes other marvel characters like Human Torch, Captain America, and the Punisher. 4 Stars The Fact that I beat it 6 times in 5 days makes it run out of webs in the middle of a 100-foot off the ground web sling. 0 Stars. Average: 2 stars I recommend Spider-Man: The movie which is out for GCN, PS2, and The X-Box.
What I next noticed was just how of an all-around solid game it was. I was completely enamored for the first three or four levels before I began to notice the occasional flaws and inconsistencies. The first level, just a really simple swing from building to building, is a testament to not only the beauty of the graphics, but how smooth the game runs, and just how fun it is. Even the voices of the characters were done beautifully, and original Spider Man creator Stan Lee's commentaries at the beginning of each level ('Looks like everyone's favourite wallcrawler is in a bit of trouble') was just a real cool touch. From there though, I began to discover little things about the game that just bothered me a bit. First was the occasional glitch in the game. Although their occurences were few and far between, they did ruin the mood of the game. Most of these glitches occured while using the dome of webbing to protect Spidey. Oftentimes the webbing would just randomly float in mid-air, just sitting there. But, no biggie, no games are perfect. Second was the weak storyline. I found it a little hard to understand what was going on throughout the game. The story just seemed to jump at random from being attacked by Rhino to fighting off symbiotes with the help of Venom. I was pretty confused at a couple points in the game, even after playing through a second and third time. Thirdly is how easy the game was. I had the game set on easy, so I can't make any conjectures on how the medium and hard settings are, but I was finished with the game in less then a day. I rented it Wednesday morning at noon, and had it beat after only about 5 or 6 hours of playing. However, even though it was pretty easy to beat, some replay value is given in attempting to go back through the levels and collecting classic issues of 'Spider Man' comic books in hidden spots. And finally, my last and biggest complaint is the cut scenes. Since I had seen the ending for the PSX version of the game while hanging around in 'Electronic Boutique' (some guy had no life and just had to go through and beat it all - surprisingly it only took him a half hour, because other people had already reached the point he started at), I was expecting the same thing from the Nintendo version. What was a brilliantly funny cut scene from PSX suddenly became a poorly directed slide show of the same scene with captions below the photos. And it wasn't just the ending either, every scene between levels was in the same form of a slide show with captions below the photos. Despite my complaints, I thought that this game was actually extremely fun to play and I'd still mantain that it's a solid game - if only somewhat more solid for PSX. I still do recommend Spider Man, because if nothing else, it's just a fun game that doesn't have too hard of a learning curve, and will pass the time exceptionally well. ... Read more Subjects: 1. Editorial Review When Stu gets the call to come repair the Reptar robot at EuroReptarland, an impromptu trip to Paris becomes the setting for Chuckie's search for a new mommy. Based on the feature film of the same name, Rugrats in Paris: The Movie features the characters from the TV show, including Tommy, Phil, Angelica, Kimi, and more. Your job is to explore 16 levels and try to make Chuckie's wish come true. Be on the lookout for several bonus levels along the way and minigames, such as Chuckie Chan Dojo and Reptar vs. Robosnail. ... Read more Reviews (13)

Graphics= 4.5/5 Very well done. Gives out a 3D feel, but Interest= 3/5 This was a definate weak-spot of Iridion Reccomend = 3.7/5 I don't think this is the best game I've Overall, this game was pretty good. But, like I said, it gets boring after awhile. It's not your average StarFox game (which are great), but it's not you're average Barney game!
The gameplay, while fantastic, wasn't the main selling point for me.Although very well-adjusted in terms of difficulty, the music and sound were beyong top-notch.Veteran GBA composer Manfred Linzner (who, if I read the credits right, did a fair share of programming too) turns out another beautiful soundtrack, with an 80's-techno feel that just plain works with this game. The ever popular track "Cloudy Stairway" has returned from the original (easily my favorite track from I3D), and the music is just perfect for the ambience Shin'en wanted to create with this little number. The sound effects are also very well intergrated, and don't break the music (fans of NES shooters should know exactly what I'm talking about) or halt certain tracks to any noticible degree. Finally, the challenge. It's challenging!Even on Starter Pilot (TURN AUTO-UPGRADE OFF!) the first level will probably take a life or two.The learning curve is pretty steep, with the second set of galaxies boasting a formidable challenge and the levels only picking up from there. The bosses are pretty easy, with the occaisional 3 or 4 who will get you a few times. All in all, it's a great game with another, albeit different from the original, well-crafted faux-3D engine. The GBA continues to show us new and better ways to duplicate arcade experience, and if Iridion 2 is evident of a perminant "raising of the bar", I say bring on 3, and bring it soon!

Editorial Review Warioland 4 stars Wario, the same money-mad rascal seen in many other classic handheld games. This time he's heard tales of a golden pyramid--which is enough to send the big blowhard scurrying off to the nearest jungle. He finds the place, but before he can collect his treasure he'll have to undergo a brain- and body-bending series of challenges. Four guardians stand jealously over the four sections of the pyramid. Wario will either have to defeat each guardian or activate a switch and escape before time runs out. No longer invincible, Wario will have to replenish his health meter by gathering pieces of heart. While exploring the pyramid, Wario gets flat and heavy, and undergoes other transformations. Minigames provide more diversions on the way to the final showdown with the pyramid boss. ... Editorial Review Anyone who has grown up without coming in contact with the Winnie thePooh stories likely suffers as a result a severe whimsy deficit. Whether throughthe original A.A. Milne novelsand stories, or the Walt Disneyfilm adaptations, themisadventures of Pooh, Christopher Robin, Tigger, and Piglet provide acompletely entertaining diversion from ordinary storytelling. The story in Tigger's Honey Hunt starts with Pooh, who is planning agrand party. But he can't begin to plan the bash without knowing that he hassufficient honey for his guests to enjoy. Bouncing along in his own inimitableway, Tigger pledges to help Pooh locate enough honey pots to get the party offthe ground. Crisp backgrounds, colorful worlds, and superb animation make this a fun rompthrough the Hundred Acre Woods. Gameplay mechanics are straightforward and aimedat the right demographic. For anyone but kids, however, this game plays too short and doesn't have enoughindividual play modes (little kids love to play the same game over and over, soa short game doesn't matter much to the under-8 crowd). The title misses PaulWinchell's deft voice-over talent, but there's only so much data that you canfit on a Nintendo 64 cartridge. Tigger's Honey Hunt really knows what it wants to be: a kids' game. Assuch, it succeeds in providing a darned good--if short--time. --ToddMowatt Pros:

Editorial Review Football is a violent sport to begin with, but what would it be likewithout rules? The answer is Blitz 2001, a wild, arcade-stylefootball free-for-all. While the core concepts of Blitz are essentiallythe same as real football--throw and run to score touchdowns while trying toprevent your opponent from doing the same--the play here tends to get a bitdirty without details like penalties and good sportsmanship. In Blitz, the key to stopping the pass is tackling receivers before theyever get into their routes. After a great play, celebration is over the top, with players doing cartwheels, pretending to ride horses, and shouting at thetop of their lungs. But the victimized party doesn't have to sit back and justtake it. They can pick up the celebrating player and throw him to the turf--andthen jump on top of him. Because this is the Nintendo 64, the graphics are clear and the movement isfast, which is crucial to the success of a game like this and the main reasonwhy the Blitz series on the technically inferior PlayStation has neverquite cut it. Of course, four can play at once, which is where Blitzreally shines, and new to the game this year are some entertaining minigames.Adding to the cartoonish fun of this game, a player can literally catch onfire--like some mythological football demigod--after reeling in three balls in a rowor making three consecutive sacks. It's funny and kind of scary to see severalflaming linebackers accelerating toward the quarterback. The one small catch to all this is that players who bought Blitz 2000will notice very few differences besides updated rosters, leaving it a dubiouspurchase for those familiar with the franchise. Those new to it, however, aresure to discover reserves of testosterone that they never thought they had.--Robb Guido Pros:

With Crus'n World, released in late 1998, it contains a start of 12 cars battaling through 14 outrageous courses, from England, all the way to Hawaii. That is not all, there is even more at stake when it comes to these rolls. There is also championship mode, where you can try to earn points for faster speed in the automobiles, a very special Speed Demon, and custom packaging with color designs. But it doesn't stop there. There is as usual Crus'n mode, where you can access some of the greatest courses ever, including a special course that sets you on the Moon. There is also the unbelieveable, practice mode, where you can try maxing out the time of the certain time, and gain access to hidden automobiles, 12 of them. Unfortunately, a lot of people aren;t interested in Crus'n World anytime right now, largely because of the Gamecube and Xbox and Playstation 2 games out there. Nevertheless, if you really want the rubber to burn, give this game a try. ... Read more Subjects: 1. Video Games
