1-0 out of 5 stars BORING!
Being a Disney fan I thought this game would be cute.I was wrong. If I wanted to jump around a game board with no reward I would play an actual board game. You are lucky to win one mini game every 15 turns. You also have to be linked to another gameboy to even get the mini games. This game needs to advertise that you need 2 gameboys and 2 players or more to have the least bit of fun.Otherwise you are pointlessly jumping around a game board.I can't believe its a $30 game.I have way more fun with my $10 Ninja Turtle game.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not what it appears to be
Beware the false advertising on this game's box!I bought it because it looked like a portable, Disney version of Mario Party.Based on the box, it LOOKS like you play on a game board with a few other players, and then frequently stop to play minigames. That would be great, wouldn't it?Unfortunately, that's not what this game is.

There is a game board, and you do play against a few other computer players. But get this--there are NO MINIGAMES in that game mode.It is one of the worst, most boring games I have ever played, no exaggeration.Instead of playing minigames, in the board game mode, you are trying to reach the next "attraction," which is a very bare-bones, low-quality side-scrolling platforming game level! And, in the cruddy bare-bones platforming levels, you're not competing against any of the other characters--you are throwing bombs (which somehow float behind you--that's how you carry them) at a handful of pathetic enemies and trying to collect a few stars. These poor excuses for levels, or minigames, or whatever they are intended to be are also ridiculously short.AND, instead of playing one of these levels every turn, you will be lucky if you get to play ONE during a whole game.If you can get to the "attraction" before the computer, within the ridiculously short period of time that you have to get there, you can play the level. What happens more often is that you move around pointlessly on the game board for the whole game, while the computer does way better than you (and has all the fun).Isn't this game supposed to be for kids?I guess the developer thinks that kids like to lose.

The only way to play minigames in this game is to link to another Gameboy and play against a live person head-to-head.But then, there are very few minigames available, and to GET them, you have to beat the normal mode of the game (with the stupid game board and the "attractions") over and over.It just isn't worth the time.

So, obviously this game wouldn't appeal to adults--but don't buy it for your kids, either. It is simply a badly-made game, and apparently no one stops to consider that, since it is a "kids'" title. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars this game is not as simple as it looks
this game is just alittle hard the game play is to short for meit is a waste of money to pay for this game there are only six levels graphics arent that great average price for this game is$ 30.00dont waste your money on just 6 levelsthis game is not worth that amount

5-0 out of 5 stars Mickey and Minnie are Roy and Strider Hiryu!
Magical versions of Roy and a feminine Hiryu (Strider by CAPCOM),
VENTURE into the world of this wonderful remake! 4 costumes, Fire, Magical, and 2 others, make this one ultra fun game! I'd rather control Minnie than Mickey, (SHE DON'T GET ENOUGH ATTENTION) besides, poor Minnie has a weak football team, so she makes up for it in the long run by being Mickey's partner in this game! YEAH!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun and hard
Its is fun I got it for Xmas and at first its easy. Pete may sound easy but he's not. You get 4 different thing for your caracter. Their regular self, magican, firefighter, and climber. You should buy it if you like Diney. ... Read more

Editorial Review

One of two new Zelda games for the Game Boy Color, TheLegend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons is the more action-focused titleof the duo. The Triforce has alerted Link to trouble in the land ofHolodrum, where the General of Darkness has kidnapped Din, the Oracleof Seasons. The villain hopes to transform Holodrum into a wasteland bychanging the order of seasons. It's up to you to help Link saveHolodrum by rescuing Din.

The game features more combat and fewer puzzles than its sister, makingit better suited for younger gamers. Its mechanics and menus aresimilar to those found inLink'sAwakening, also for the Game Boy. This is classic overheadrole-playing at its best. The key item in this game is the rod ofseasons, which allows Link to change seasons at will. For example, animpassable lake becomes a quick stroll by using the rod to changeseasons from summer to winter.

Although this game is extremely enjoyable on its own, you'll want touse it in conjunction with its sister title:Oracle of Ages. After you complete one game you'll be given a password that lets youbegin with all your items, statistics, and progress intact in theother. Certain characters will appear only by playing both games. Byusing a link cable, players can trade items. Game Boy Advance userswill find a store that's exclusive to them.

While this is one of the best Game Boy titles ever, a truly sublimeexperience can be had playing it with its companion title. --RaymondM. Padilla

Pros:

  • Hours of outstanding gameplay
  • Great as a standalone; outstanding in conjunction with its sistergame
  • Nice bonuses for Game Boy Advance owners
Cons:
  • Lots of reused sound effects from previous Zelda games
  • Longtime gamers might find the story and level design contrived
  • Your thumbs will get sore from all the battles

5-0 out of 5 stars A Truly Amazing Game
I own both Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Zelda Oracle Of Ages. Both of these games Are truly amazing. I found Seasons to be a bit more challenging than Ages. If you are a first time Zelda player I would reccommend getting Ages and if you like it then get Seasons. I am on the final boss of Ages and it only took me 5 days to get to that point. But take into consideration that once I get a new game (especially a Zelda game) I play it non stop. So if you are looking for a more complicated, battle packed Zelda game then this one is for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars I'd rather save Nayru, Oracle of Ages
I played Oracle of Ages first, and it was a better game, although both are worth playing.

When they say that Oracle of Seasons is more focused on the combat, they're not kidding! There were very few puzzles and, in my opinion, a lot of meaningless sword-swinging.Most of the bosses need to be hit by the sword many times and then they are defeated. In Ages, you actually had to use the item that you just got.Up to the boss, Onox, it is really easy.Getting from level to level was a little hard for me, but that's because I always overlook the obvious.Other than that, it went so much faster than Ages.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to defeat Onox yet.I can't even get past the second stage!I don't understand how a sword can't cut through him but if you use hero's skill it can! He's a chunk of rock! So the boss is HARD!

The Maku Tree isn't as loveable as in Ages.He just sleeps!Doesn't even hit on you...

As in all Zelda games, it's much more enjoyable if you take it slow (although it's hard in this one) and talk to all of the people in it.They have funny things to say!One of my favorite parts is Subrosia with the Like-Likes!They're so cute!So instead of traveling through times, you change the seasons and go through portals to Subrosia.Dancing there is great! It's a little easier than the Goron dancing, though they are both difficult.

About the seasons...it gives the game a lot more flexibility in how the levels can be arranged.Instead of having 2 ages, you get 4 seasons, each with different "hidden" parts.I really like how you can bounce on the flowers in the spring! And the people say different things at different times! It is fun!

You get to see many of the same characters as in Ages, the important ones as well as the town folk. And there are some different items.I especially liked the Magnetic Gloves and Roc's Cape. The level design is pretty straightforward and the dungeons are rather easy.

Overall, it's a good game to play, but you should definitely try it's companion too.I can't use the codes to link them yet until I beat this one, so I'll try!

Great music, as always!

Get this game and Ages, so that you can further your Zelda gaming skills!

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have.
I am fairly new to games, and have only been playing them for about a year now. I heard a lot of good things about TLOZ series, and decided to give this game a try. Well, It sort of took a little while to grow on me, but I ended up loving this game. It is just good in every aspect. It can be very challenging, has a pretty good storyline, and is also quite lengthy. This is the first game I every played that took me longer than just 4-5 days to beat. In fact, I played it for at least a month before I beat it.

In this game you play as Link, the hero of Hyrule who was sent to the land of Holodrum to rescue a goddess named Din, who has been captured by the dark lord Onox. Din is the oracle of Seasons, and Onox plans to use her to his advantage; casting the seasons of Holodrum into chaos. You have to find eight essences of nature, by traveling through eight dungeons. These dungeons are filled with all sorts of challenges, and will require some thought. I was never stuck too long in a dungeon. However, getting to the dungeons can be a problem. Your "guide," the Maku tree, will give you a vague hint as to where the next dungeons lies. However, he will give absolutely no inclination as to the three or four things you must do to get there, which could include finding a rusty bell in a strange place, and then giving it to a pirate.

The dungeons themselves are great, although they all follow a certain pattern. Link must basically find his way through the dungeon, find a new item, fight a mini-boss, and then fight a big boss. Every single dungeon is designed that way, but its just a small thing. Don't worry, you'll be challenged by every single one.

The graphics are pretty good for a GBC game. The view is from the top-down, and you can see every character clearly, right down to there facial expressions.

The hardest part to this game is actually the bosses. It took me a week to beat the final boss of a game, and I never beat any boss in less than three tries. I have never played a game with such hard bosses.

The oracle of seasons is a great game. I loved it, and I bet you will too. ... Read more

Based on the Nickelodeon movie of the same name, Jimmy Neutron: BoyGenius follows the adventures of a whiz kid and his robot dog, Goddard. Theparents of Retroville have been kidnapped, and it's up to Jimmy to save themwhile defeating the vile Yokians and the evil King Goobot. Before Jimmy can dothat, however, he must find all the parts of a spaceship so he can embark on hisquest. At his disposal are a wide variety of gadgets, including lasers, googuns, jetpacks, rockets, and grappling guns. The game features 24 levels thattake place in locations such as Retroville, a meteor field, and the YokianEmpire. Perhaps the strongest part of the game is its multiplayer mode, whichsupports up to four players via link cable. In this mode, players compete tocollect the most coins while slowing the opposition with goo darts.

The single-player game incorporates basic platform elements. Players spend mostof the time running, jumping, and collecting objects. It's hardly innovative, but it works for a younger audience. The four racing levels also add somevariety. Extremely young gamers may need an adult handy to deal with the game'sheavy text and poor save system; the latter uses long passwords to track aplayer's progress. All in all, this is a good game for fans of the series. Itfeatures strong graphics and plenty of the film's flavor. Adept players willbreeze through the single-player game, although the multiplayer mode provides afair amount of replay value. --Raymond M. Padilla

Pros:

  • Sharp graphics
  • Awesome gadgetry
  • Great multiplayer gameplay
Cons:
  • Single-player game is very basic
  • No in-game saves
  • Lots of text may provide too frustrating a challenge for younger kids

5-0 out of 5 stars Tetris...What makes it so addictive?
I found "TETRIS" in the middle of nowhere and found it a brilliant addition to my very primative collection of games (i live for the old stuff). It is easy to catch onto the simple rules and very addictive. You can never WIN, but beating your own personal best is really good when it happens. I think that is also educational for that buff they call spacial awareness.

However, I would not buy it unless you can get a good price for it. You can get HandHeld games with original And Variations of the origianl "TETRIS".

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Tetris Game!
I have both this game AND Tetris Worlds for Game Boy Advance, And I love them both as much as the other. Tetris worlds my not have a Battery Back-up, but it more than makes up for that with the extremely fun game variations and the classic tetris Music.
Tetris DX DOES Have a battery, but it's just basic tetris. I'm able to score at least 400,000 points regularly, so every time I top out I have to put up with that annoying rocket launch sequence, wheras with Tetris Worlds, when you top out, you can start the next game right away without having to put up with annoying rocket sequences. the bottom line: went I want to play Classic Tetris, I play Tetris DX. when I want Enhanced graphics and effects and Nostalgic Music, I play Tetris Worlds

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Tetris Dx
Tetris DX is a very fun game! You will be addicted to it in no time! There are many different things you can do to change the game settings. For example, you can change the music. You can also change the level you are on yourself, although I wouldn't recommend doing it until after you have become a very good player. There also many game modes you can play in, like 40 Lines, on which you have to get 40 lines without your blocks hitting the top, Marathon, on which you just keep going and going and going until your blocks hit the top, or Ultra, where you see how good you can do, except you only have 3 minutes to do so. The computer also keeps track of your best records and displays them when you are choosing your level. Tetris DX is an absolutely terrific game! I would recommend it to anybody! You'll have a lot of fun playing it. Thank you for reading my review. I hope it helped. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome!!!
due like totly awsome game system at a low price that i can buy it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wow...
Game Gear is nice. It's so old, and yet, the first portable system that could challenge it in gaming and display is the very recent Nintendo DS. Nintendo just released it's first system with a backlight (Game Boy Advance SP had a front light) and this thing, about the same size as a folded DS, came out years ago. It's sad really. Sega made much better stuff than Nintendo, and now it's stopped making consoles. Some people out there are going to say "Nintendo sucks NERD!" but they're wrong. They're right that I'm a nerd, but wrong that Nintendo sucks. Nintendo is not loved by as many people anymore, but it definitely has the best consoles out now. I can safely say that if Sega hadn't stopped making consoles, they would be releasing amazing systems. Anyway, back to the Game Gear. Everyone's said this, but Game Gear is to batteries as an H2 is to gasoline. Maybe worse. It takes 6 of your precious overpriced AA's and doesn't last as long as the Nintendo portables. Of course, this is an old system, so you should allow it your forgiveness.
Bottom line: Cheap, good(amazing when you consider it's age), but bad with your batteries.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Game System

5-0 out of 5 stars Madden 2002 ROCKS!!!!!!!
Madden 2002 is a cool game! Yesterday, the New York Jets made the highest score in an NFL game, winning 67-0 over the 2002 and 2004 Super Bowl champion, New England Patriots!!! Martin made NINE TOUCHDOWNS FOR THE BIG APPLE!!!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Pros and Cons
Before i start i want to say that if you want a game that you can play for a year and not beat this is the game.

Madden 2002 has many good and bad things about it, Great A.I. and it is also very realistic, maybe too realistic.

I say too realistic because you can get fidgity when the Refs pullout the chain or the teams switch sides. It shows all of this so it can really be time consuming.

Also, a good QB can complete at least 65%of their passes. EA dosen't agree with me though 'cause in Madden 2002 even if your guy is open there is still a good chance that the ball will go through their head or their hands.

Quick, name a RB who can rush 12 yards a carry. What, no one does, well go tell that to EA cause on the hardest diffulculty I can rush for 12 yards a carry with Browns running back Rhite.

Bottom Line: Rent it, or pick it up at a yard sale cheap.

1-0 out of 5 stars keyword

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Game Boy game ever; second best Zelda game ever
With The Minish Cap coming out soon, and looking to be another disappointment (I will reserve final judgment until I actually play it, but it has a definite Wind Waker vibe), the handheld gamer would do well to revisit this classic. The gameplay is incredible and compelling and the story is perhaps the best in the series; the only two faults with this game are minor for any true gamer. The graphics aren't very good; the sprites are simply poorer-quality A Link to the Past sprites oftentimes, but the game is so good one will hardly notice. The sound effects are pretty poor, but, thankfully, there's always the music to compensate for that...and what good music.

It feels like ALttP, looks like it, plays like it, and is second only to that excellent SNES game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unstoppable!!!
I borrowed this game from a friend and I couldn't put it down! YOU HEAR ME?! I was playing for three hours straight until I had to give it back.I was at the end of Face Shrine.GET THIS GAME.It's worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars fun but frusterating game
I think that this is a really fun game and all, but it is really frusterating trying to get past that seventh level. If anyone has some advice for me it would be really appreciated. The reason I rate this game with four stars overall is because of the thought they put into making it but it would have been five stars if it had anything to do with the fabled princess Zelda from the other games. But this game is ultimatley fun and anyone who hasn't tried it should try it.Another game or two people should try is The Legand of Zelda a Link to the Past, The Legand of Zelda Ocarina of Time, and The Legand of Zelda Majora's Mask.Personally I've beaten all the games listed there. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great game!
I recently reviewed Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc GameCube on the 29th. Now this. PC review pending. :P It seems a mixture of R1, R2, and R3. R1: A nice graphical side-scroller. R2: Most of the stuff comes from R2. But now you can see the hunchman again; even with powers! R3: Though the hoodlums are only seen in one level, that's why UBISoft(the company with the best games) simply named it Rayman 3. It isn't a Hoodlum Havoc if they're only seen in one level.
A tip: If you can't get past Rocky in Magmacosm, keep your lives together and be ready...Walk over to him so that if he was on the ground you'd be beside him. Let him fry you and as you go into the air*, punch his head, then avoid his attack.
Like I said reviewing the GameCube version, you can link up! It's fun! Get minigames for the GameCube and depending on lums, the GameBoy Advance version has minilevels. This is funner than it sounds!

Editorial Review

Scooby Doo! Classic Creep Capers is a single-player game in whichthe goal is to solve three mysteries (two of them based on classic episodes; the other is allnew). You play the game as Shaggy while Scooby-Doo tags along, nipping at your heelsas you move around the game's various levels. The graphics are completely cartoon-style,and the game is played from a third-person perspective.

Nobody actually dies in this game, which is good. So, instead of the life meter commonto most adventure games, Classic Creep Capers has a courage meter, which letsyou know how much more fright Shag and Scoob can stand without bolting out of thelevel and having to start anew. Each time something scares them--which happens prettyfrequently--they lose some of their courage, and the game pauses to feature a shakeanimation.

The gameplay is very straightforward--sometimes inanely so. What you're asked to do ismove Shaggy through each level, picking up clues and various other items that can beused to trap the villainous level bosses. You can't proceed from one level to the next untilyou've picked up everything.

While unraveling these mysteries, players use the A button for practically everything. The player presses it to search for things, pick up items, and to talk to people. The onlyother button used is the R button, which opens up the game's menu screen. It's just amatter of tapping the A button to activate a particular item and use it or give it to the gangto help solve the mystery. It's all very simple, which turns out to be one of the game'sstrengths.

Although the idea of unmasking fake ghosts will no doubt appeal to theSaturday-morning nostalgia of older gamers, this game is aimed squarely at the younger set in bothits content and gameplay. --Todd Mowatt

Pros:

  • Graphic style is true to the source material
  • Simple, straightforward controls
Cons:
  • Voice-overs are lacking, with too much emphasis placed on Scooby's own skeletalsound bytes
  • Experienced gamers will find this game unchallenging

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic Creep Capers
This Scooby-Doo game is fun, but Shaggy gets scared way too much, and by almost everything! He even got scared by some fake moving waves and palm trees in the third level. Also, it is hard to control Shaggy when he is skiing in the second level. All in all, it is a great game, staying true to the classic Scooby characters. It is fun because it challenges your mind, and is full of twists and detective work. If you are a true blue of Scoob and the gang I'm sure you'll love this game!

This is a great game to play with children under 6.Although it is a one player game, my daughter loves to watch me play it, and I enjoy it as well.It is very different from most other video games that she and my son play; it has a narrative plot and the operator is charged with successfully solving 4 mysteries at 4 different locations:Museum, Ski Lodge, Tropical Island, Castle.Several of the reviews I read stated that there were 3 mysteries.Keep trying!

I got this game for my birthday and I liked it a lot. The reason is I like things to do with Scooby Doo. 4-0 out of 5 stars Good but not great
This is probably one of the best DBZ games... not! I'm a DBZ fan and even I did not think this was all that great. For one it's too easy and you don't even get to face the Sayain thingys (green dudes that are planted in the ground). I give this a 4.15 out of 5 and a 8.30 out of 10.

1-0 out of 5 stars LAME GAME!
LEGACY OF GOKU IS A DRY AND DULL ACTION RPG FOR THE GBA AND THE SPRITES ARE CHEESY LOOKING TOO! PLUS THERE'S STUPID SIDE QUESTS THAT WEREN'T ORIGINALLY THERE IN THE TV SHOW AND IT WOULD SEEM LIKE A WASTE OF TIME FOR GOKU TO GO FINDING A STUPID KID'S TOY BOAT WHILE HIS SON GOHAN HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED BY RADITZ! I GUESS GOKU IS JUST A PLAIN IDIOT WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT!

3-0 out of 5 stars too easy! a kids review
This game is kinda fun but too easy! Once i fought jeice and beat him in 2 hits! Vegeta and nappa are both even harder then freiza! Even raditz is harder than freiza! And its stupid because king kai teaches him the kamehameha move when it was master roshi that taught him that. And you have to do stupid side quests like save a little boys cruddy toy boat and find some crappy flowers. And you face your biggest challenge ever: a wolf! If you get too close to them youget your butt kicked! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars ah pure motor bike bliss!
remember how cool the original nintendo exite bike was?its all here in its original form.but thats not the cool part.the cool part is theres a whole new way better version too.you can learn all your skills in a tutorial mode.you can build your own tracks from like hundreds[maybe] of different hills, ramps, dips and spins.you can even go to modes where you can play games with your bike like soccer.its easy to get lost for days in these games but the real idea i guess is to beat it on championship mode.its pretty straight forward there.theres a side game where you must scale a very steep and rocky mountainside.one[yes i mean one]mistake and youll see some of the most hideous wrecks in exite bike history!its great fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Go Excite.
This game may have some flaws but who cares? It's fun and thats why they made it. I don't exspect perfect from Nintendo.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Game With Some Minor Flaws
I think this is a great remake of a once well known classic super nintendo game made in 1984, however despite that this game has a few minor flaws which i may discuss later in my review.

The graphics are great, one of n64's best graphics yet, especially for a motocross game, but annoying little graphics glitches sometimes appear which is a shame, otherwise the graphics are smooth and nice on the eyes. Just the little graphic glitches which decrease its score to 4.5/5.

The sound is pretty good, the music through out the game is easy enough to cope with. As for the sound effects, they are what you would expect from an extreme game. You hear yells when you ride off a cliff, you can hear the irrating motorbike noise as you race, you can hear thumps when you hit the ground hard. The only complaint about the sound is that the comentator's speech is a little repetitive, but otherwise you can get rid of the comentator. 4/5

The controls are not very good at times your bike just goes any random direction. The reason why the game is hard is due to the control. Otherwise its pretty easy to pull of tricks, however there could have been a better job on the control. 3.5/5

The fun factor is pretty good, you can race your friends on which ever tracks you have completed, and you can verse them on most of the special tracks which you can get by winning certain stages. The special features include the "desert" where you just race to a fire and then race to the next fire, no multiplayer for this. "stunt course" is a course where you can challenge your friends or yourself in performing as many stunts to get as many points. "original excitebike" is a feature you get by completing the tutorial. Its just the super nintendo version of excitebike. "soccer" is a feature were you verse your friends in soccer on a bike. "hill climb" is were you verse your friends or yourself up a steep hill. "excite 3d" is a really good fun race course. The main fun factor in this game is the create a track mode. While there may be many features, this game doesn't have many great features. 4/5

The replay value is great, and probably the most effective thing about the game. You will want to keep racing on those very nice outdoor/indoor tracks. 5/5

The main things which bother me about this game is that it could improve 1. Contain more stunts i mean 15 stunts isn't much for a motocross game. 2. Make it that you can control the time limit for the stunt course, i mean 2 minutes, c'mon. 3. Make the controls easier.

The main highlights of the game is the create a trak mode which allows you to create a track, the high replay value and the very interesting outdoor tracks. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars from a 5-year-old power ranger fan
My son and his friend just love this game when they first got it. To a mom like me,the game is just too easy and not worthy for 30 bucks. After my son beat the master org (easy level), he seldom play it.Not very interesting by just punching and fighting. For a BIG fan of power ranger like my 5-year-old,anything with power rangers, he loves it.

5-0 out of 5 stars This ROCKS!!
The smartest decision ever!! Who would have knew that Gameboy Advance used all the intelligence in the world to bring to you the most revered and most incredible RPG ever created!! Phantasy Star 1 was the reason sega kicked butt over the wimpy Ninetendo!!
I remember back in the 80's laughing at all the losers who bought a ninetendo. Sega master was the leader, until Sony brought out their Playstation! Remember the 3-D glasses!! Well, those days are over with, but Phantasy Star in all its glory is back with a vengenance!! This game is the reason Ninetendo will always be the loser!!! lol I even endorse the Advance, and give the kudos it deserves!!! Keep up the good work!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is great.
This game is a great game for fantasy and sci-fi lovers. It puts
gaming to the test. It has good graphics, handling, and character design. Just play the game, you'll see!

3-0 out of 5 stars Great for nostalgia, but compared to today's games ....
I couldn't echo the direct praise of many others even though I did grow up on these games. The simple fact is that unless you played these games on the Genesis you just aren't going to appreciate the GBA remakes.

The "problem" with this remake is that no improvements were made to any of the games. They are faithful and EXACT representations of their Genesis counterparts. Now, I grew up on these games back in the early 90's and I loved them, so of course I loved the nostaglic appeal PS Collection had.

But if I were talking to a new gamer ... someone who hadn't played the originals, then there's no way I would be able to recommend this compared to the titles avaliable today. By today's standards, these are really boring dungeon crawlers ... no side quests, no item custimzation, drab and now-cliched storylines ... it lacks the punch some of the current games have.

These games were from a much different gaming era, and they show it. Without any kind of improvement, they just can't hold their own with some of today's titles. I can only recommend this product to people who played at least one of the originals, know what is coming and are looking for nostalic appeal, because that's really their one and only draw. ... Editorial Review

Welcome to the world of Pokémon, one filled with wild Pokémon and the people who attempt to tame them. You are Ash Ketchum, a boy on a quest to become the best Pokémon trainer in the world. Professor Oak, the leading authority on Pokémon, has given you your choice of three tame Pokémon in exchange for your helping him catalog and document every Pokémon in the world.

But to catalog a Pokémon, you have to capture it, by first beating it up with one of your trained Pokémon, and then hitting it with an empty Poké Ball. As your tame Pokémon gain experience in battle, their abilities improve and they earn access to new attacks. Sometimes they even evolve into more advanced Pokémon.

Aside from capturing wild Pokémon and evolving your own, you can catalog new Pokémon--the only way to gather some Pokémon--by trading with another Pokémon player using either a link cable or the Game Boy Color's infrared system. Pokémon gained through trades learn and evolve faster, and trading is the only way to capture all 151 Pokémon, since each Pokémon game (Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, andPokémon Yellow) has certain Pokémon missing. So if you own Red and want to have a complete set of Pokémon, you must find a friendly Blue or Yellow owner and arrange a trade.

Pokémon Red is packed with interesting characters, an ingenious story hook, intriguing strategy, and of course plenty of cute Pokemon, and it's easy to see how it started the Pokémania that is sweeping the world. --Michael Fehlauer

Pros:

  • Gameplay and strategy that are fun for all ages
  • Fantastic replay value
  • Brilliant game design encourages players to meet and trade
Cons:
  • Hours of looking at the Game Boy's little screen may hurt neck
  • Only 1 saved game per cartridge--2 people can't share a single game

  • Play as Ash Ketchum, a boy on a quest to become the best Pokemon trainer in the world

4-0 out of 5 stars Great concept, but............
Pokemon was a great concept game that should've appealed to all ages, but really, the Pokemon culture and TV show and all that B/S completely wrecked it.Just look at some of the reviews here. Some of them include cliche stuff from the show such as the Rocket Team horse and "Go Pokemon."It's really sad to see a great concept game like this go down the tubes now with the new releases that tie into the crap pop culture stuff.

Anyway, it's a great game, but don't play it in public, hide in your room and never tell anyone.

4-0 out of 5 stars CHARIZARD GO!
This is a great classic game. You begin as a new Pokemon trainer, and soon select your first Pokemon. The choices are Charmander, a fire type;squirtle, a water type;or bulbasaur, a fire type.Interestingly, three Pokemon you choose from are like rock/paper/scissors, charmander beats bulbasaur, squirtle beats charmander, and bulbasaur beats squirtle.Soon, you rival chooses his Pokemon(annoyingly, its always the one that has the type advantage, like if you choose squirtle he will choose charmander. You are then given the task of completing a complete guide of Pokemon by catching all of them.In order to beat the game, you only need the first 150 Pokemon, however, there is also a legendary number 151 Mew.You catch Pokemon by using one you already have to weaken it, then catching it with a Pokeball.Once you catch a Pokemon, you may use it to fight others, but you can only have up to 6 Pokemon at a time.Along the way, you will encounter other trainers you may battle. There are regular trainers, which you battle only for money, fun, and experience. However, there are also gym leaders, which are specialized trainers with stronger Pokemon than regular trainers in their area have. There are 8 in all, and once you beat them, you may then battle the elite four, who are much tougher than gym leaders and you have to fight all of them in succession. You also encounter your rival throughout the game. And he becomes Pokemon League Champion, however, once you defeat him, you become Pokemon League Champion. There are also troublemaking team rocket members that you can and sometimes have to battle as well.Their boss is also the leader of gym 8.I have found the gym leaders and team rocket members are actually exceedingly easy if you know what you're doing, however, the elite 4 is very tough, especially since you have to face them all toghether. There are also legendary Pokemon, which are considered to be part of the 151 total, and they are very rewarding but challenging to catch. Also, one cool thing is there is a lot of moves(although some are kind of stupid) and certain Pokemon have strengths over others. For example, fire takes out grass easily. However, you can beat the game just by having stronger Pokemon, however, this is actually harder than using strategy.Because it takes a great length of time to level up, while a skilled player can quickly catch a Pokemon with a type advantage. And to the guy who said he beat this game in a hour....if you think this game is easy, than you should quit playing videogames altoghether, because you obviously are such a great master of everything. Also, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT THE GAME IN A HOUR!AT MINIMUM, YOU HAVE TO PLAY IT FOR AT LEAST LIKE 20 HOURS FOR YOUR POKEMON TO BE HIGH ENOUGH LEVEL TOO!Oh, wait, you must have used a gameshark.Wow, no wonder you are so good at videogames. But if anyone tells you they beat the game in a hour, they either cheated, found a big glitch, or both.Or else their exaggerating. But the only way the game could really beat that easy is if you had a strategy guide."Oh this game is so easy, I only had to read 50 books on it to beat it on the first try."GET REAL!IF THIS ISN'T A CHALLENGE, NOTHING IS!Overall, its a great game, but there are some annoying things.First off, to get all 151, you must trade with freinds, as neither red nor blue has every Pokemon, but they do combined. Most Pokemon are in both versions, but some are exclusive to either red or blue. Also, as you level up your Pokemon, they evolve(which is really more accurately described as metamorphises), and some only evolve by trading them with the same Pokemon with another player.Another thing is there is only one save slot. Finally, in the Japenese version, by getting the first 150, you get number 151,but in the US version you can only get them through Nintendo's promotions or by cheating.Hmm, giving Americans a raw deal, aye Nintendo? You know we buy into your promotions instead of demanding that you make stuff available in the games. In Japan, gamers would be outraged, but you know you can take advantage of us Americans?Okay, go ahead. But despite the fact that it isn't as good as the Japenese version or a perfect game, Pokemon Red is still one of my favorites.

4-0 out of 5 stars From the Golden Days of Ninja Interactive Video Sporting
Let us be honest with ourselves. This is an old game. And yet it rocks most hard, say thankee. It's also highly addictive.

The point of Pokemon is simple: catch cute, little, animated talking monsters with magic, plastic balls, and use them to kick the living daylights out of the cute talking monsters of your enemies. So in truth, it's a lot like real life.

Plus, said monsters are fully changeable. You can give them a name, teach them special fighting skills, and even control how much they grow. This makes them much better than hamsters as pets go.

Plus, its got ninjas! I'm not only talking about a ninja master who uses Pokemon to duel you (I guess he never learned how to use shuriken or swords or stuff), I also mean you can name you Pokemon things like: Mifune or Hayabusa or Zatoichi or Swordsman with an Umbrella (that probably won't fit). Of course, you can also name it Winky-dinky-do, if it do please ya. But I digress.

Yes, Pokemon shows its age among modern video games. But so does Pong. And Pong is still mildly amusing. But without Pong, there'd be no Pokemom. And without Pokemon, there'd be no modern video gamage. And without video games, I'd have to actually face my family, friends and problems, and learn actual skills! So play Pokemon! It's better than Pong, and many other video games. Trust me. I've been there. ... Read more

Dodge ball, the schoolyard sport in which kids bean each other withrubber balls thrown at welt-raising velocity, really is the sport of bullies.Thankfully, Super Dodge Ball Advance presents an experience in which thewelts aren't included, while lots of fun and laughs are.

The game features two teams of squat, cartoonish, big-headed kids. Some are onthe playing field and some reside in the back zone ready to scoot up a lob andnail an opponent in the back or from the side. The animations, particularly whena kid gets squashed, are amusing, and, after all, are also the point of thegame. Amass points and win the match, then move on to the next horde ofbig-headed kids.

There are several kinds of throws you can make to surprise your opponents, including a cool corkscrew throw and a straight-up overhanded bean ball. As youknock teams out (no pun intended), you advance toward the world competition(shades of South Park here), where you represent your favorite nation. You can also link up with an opponent for a little head-to-head action, which isthe best way to dish out some virtual pain onto local bullies who lack your madvideo gaming skills. --Andrew S. Bub

Pros:

  • It's virtual dodge ball! What's not to like?
  • It's one of the first sports games for the GBA
  • The graphics are perfect and the action is fast

  • The sound is a little grating

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Game
Super Dodge Ball Advanced is a great game.In my opinion, its got lots of replay value.Sure, you can beat it in a half hour or less, but its a sports game, so you can keep playing. The graphics are average, but how good graphics do you need to play a dodge ball game anyway. The music is alright, but a little repetitive. The game can be either really hard or really easy and anything in between with the five difficulty settings and other settings too such as, how tough it is to throw a super throw. You can link up, but I never have so I couldn't tell you how fun that is.To sum it up here is a list of pros and cons.
PROS-
1. Good replay value
2. Multiple diffuclty settings
3. Average graphics
4. Appropriate for all ages, but then again, what isn't
5. Its dodgeball
6. Game Link compatible
7. You can name characters and teams even not your own
CONS-
1. Repetative music
2. Unlike the NES game, there isn't a bean ball mode(mode that pits you individually against your teammates on a field)
3. Also unlike the classic, there aren't any River City Ransom Graphics, instead people don't even have noses. If you never played River City Ransom, the old dodgeball game or World Cup just forget that con
4. There is no team creator, which really, really sucks. That also ruins the whole point of versus mode too because you both have the same premade teams with just possible name differences.
5. Too short of a game, needs more teams or something.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun but shallow
This game is a blast but I must say its extremly shawdow.Fans of the old dodge ball game from an older nintendo system will probly love this game, I did but then I unlocked everything in a hour or so, sure there is more matches to play but its just a bunch of the same, I wore this game out in a day or two which is a shame because its a great game...just not enough substance.Get it if you pay $$$ or less definatly, think about it strongly otherwise.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun at first, gets old
This Game has a lot of the same characteristics of the original for the Super NES, which will make older gamers happy. But the game play doesn't change enough for my taste.Even the indroduction of new, more powerful teams didn't peak my excitement. In my view, it's worth renting, but because a good gamer could beat it in a half hour, it's not worth buying. ... The weirdest ears in gaming come to the Game Boy Advance in Klonoa:Empire of Dreams. Klonoa, the supercute critter with limblike ears, musthelp Emperor Jillius, who has been struck with a strange illness that robs himof the ability to dream. It's up to Klonoa to defeat the monsters that areterrorizing the empire and solve the mystery behind the emperor's ailment.

Featuring 40 levels spanning five worlds, this title mixes up gameplay nicely.Action stages are traditional 2-D platform levels, similar to classicMario and Sonic games. In these levels, Klonoa runs or rides ahover board through obstacle-filled lands. Boss stages pit Klonoa against alarge creature with a hidden weak point. The most engaging levels are the puzzlestages, which require Klonoa to gather three keys to unlock the exit. Thesestages are very well designed, requiring thought and imagination on the player'spart. In order to reach some keys, Klonoa will need to grab certain objects, monsters, or a combination thereof to reach his goal. Because each monsterproduces a different effect when thrown, and various surfaces react differentlywhen hit, lots of trial and error is required.

Although the game's graphics are very bright, they aren't as detailed as inother GBA games. The sound is excellent, but the cute music andeffects--particularly the gibberish language spoken by the characters--might be annoyingto older gamers. Those with an aversion to cuteness should just hit the mutebutton, sit back, and enjoy one of the best platform games for the GBA.--Raymond M. Padilla

Pros:

  • Excellent level design
  • Good use of the GBA's sound capabilities
  • Classic gameplay that's perfect for fans of 16-bit platform games
Cons:
  • Sound might be too cute for mature gamers
  • Graphics lack detail
  • Can be finished in fewer than 10 hours

5-0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good
I had never played the other Klonoa games when I fired this up.It looked like another kiddy platformer, but I decided to give it a chance; Namco usually puts out good stuff.

But then Klonoa really surprised me; it wasn't just a platformer. It made me think about what I was doing instead of just running through a level bopping enemies. The levels are cleverly designed and usually are just as much vertical as they are horizontal. The difficulty curve for the puzzles is well done.It starts out easy and gets progressively tougher until the end, when you're likely to be stumped by a couple of puzzles. Some fun snowboarding levels add variety.

Overall, Klonoa should be owned by anybody with a Game Boy Advance.A bit of a warning though: it's kind of short.

1-0 out of 5 stars The WORST game EVER!!!!!! (Truly) DO NOT BUY!!!!
This is the worst game in the history of earth. Do not borrow it from a friend. Do not rent it. Do not buy it. Do not play it at someone's house. DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PROS:
.Challenging puzzles and bosses
.Good graphics
.Exellent sound and music

CONS:
.Too short
.Too horrible
.Can be finished in less than 10 hours
.No storyline

.Repetitive music and sound
.Horrible cutscenes

Don't laugh. Nothing's funny in this game. Play this game for 5 seconds, laugh at how bad it is, and never speak of it again. That's all I can say. If you're looking for something exellent, try Klonoa for Sony Playstation and/or Klonoa 2 for Sony Playstation 2!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best!
This was my second game for the GBA, and I loved it! I was merely only eight years old, but the game was absolutly wonderful! I am now a huge fan of the Klonoa series. They are the best games I have ever played in my life! I am using this review also as a compliment to the wonderful creators of this game, Namco. Please Namco do keep making more Klonoa games. Platform game buffs all over our United Nation are counting on you, and the rest of your great company. ... Read more
