There is a game board, and you do play against a few other computer players. But get this--there are NO MINIGAMES in that game mode.It is one of the worst, most boring games I have ever played, no exaggeration.Instead of playing minigames, in the board game mode, you are trying to reach the next "attraction," which is a very bare-bones, low-quality side-scrolling platforming game level! And, in the cruddy bare-bones platforming levels, you're not competing against any of the other characters--you are throwing bombs (which somehow float behind you--that's how you carry them) at a handful of pathetic enemies and trying to collect a few stars. These poor excuses for levels, or minigames, or whatever they are intended to be are also ridiculously short.AND, instead of playing one of these levels every turn, you will be lucky if you get to play ONE during a whole game.If you can get to the "attraction" before the computer, within the ridiculously short period of time that you have to get there, you can play the level. What happens more often is that you move around pointlessly on the game board for the whole game, while the computer does way better than you (and has all the fun).Isn't this game supposed to be for kids?I guess the developer thinks that kids like to lose. The only way to play minigames in this game is to link to another Gameboy and play against a live person head-to-head.But then, there are very few minigames available, and to GET them, you have to beat the normal mode of the game (with the stupid game board and the "attractions") over and over.It just isn't worth the time. So, obviously this game wouldn't appeal to adults--but don't buy it for your kids, either. It is simply a badly-made game, and apparently no one stops to consider that, since it is a "kids'" title. ... Editorial Review One of two new Zelda games for the Game Boy Color, TheLegend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons is the more action-focused titleof the duo. The Triforce has alerted Link to trouble in the land ofHolodrum, where the General of Darkness has kidnapped Din, the Oracleof Seasons. The villain hopes to transform Holodrum into a wasteland bychanging the order of seasons. It's up to you to help Link saveHolodrum by rescuing Din. The game features more combat and fewer puzzles than its sister, makingit better suited for younger gamers. Its mechanics and menus aresimilar to those found inLink'sAwakening, also for the Game Boy. This is classic overheadrole-playing at its best. The key item in this game is the rod ofseasons, which allows Link to change seasons at will. For example, animpassable lake becomes a quick stroll by using the rod to changeseasons from summer to winter. Although this game is extremely enjoyable on its own, you'll want touse it in conjunction with its sister title:Oracle of Ages. After you complete one game you'll be given a password that lets youbegin with all your items, statistics, and progress intact in theother. Certain characters will appear only by playing both games. Byusing a link cable, players can trade items. Game Boy Advance userswill find a store that's exclusive to them. While this is one of the best Game Boy titles ever, a truly sublimeexperience can be had playing it with its companion title. --RaymondM. Padilla Pros:

When they say that Oracle of Seasons is more focused on the combat, they're not kidding! There were very few puzzles and, in my opinion, a lot of meaningless sword-swinging.Most of the bosses need to be hit by the sword many times and then they are defeated. In Ages, you actually had to use the item that you just got.Up to the boss, Onox, it is really easy.Getting from level to level was a little hard for me, but that's because I always overlook the obvious.Other than that, it went so much faster than Ages. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to defeat Onox yet.I can't even get past the second stage! The Maku Tree isn't as loveable as in Ages.He just sleeps!Doesn't even hit on you... As in all Zelda games, it's much more enjoyable if you take it slow (although it's hard in this one) and talk to all of the people in it.They have funny things to say!One of my favorite parts is Subrosia with the Like-Likes!They're so cute!So instead of traveling through times, you change the seasons and go through portals to Subrosia.Dancing there is great! It's a little easier than the Goron dancing, though they are both difficult. About the seasons...it gives the game a lot more flexibility in how the levels can be arranged.Instead of having 2 ages, you get 4 seasons, each with different "hidden" parts.I really like how you can bounce on the flowers in the spring! And the people say different things at different times! It is fun! You get to see many of the same characters as in Ages, the important ones as well as the town folk. And there are some different items.I especially liked the Magnetic Gloves and Roc's Cape. The level design is pretty straightforward and the dungeons are rather easy. Overall, it's a good game to play, but you should definitely try it's companion too.I can't use the codes to link them yet until I beat this one, so I'll try! Great music, as always! Get this game and Ages, so that you can further your Zelda gaming skills!
In this game you play as Link, the hero of Hyrule who was sent to the land of Holodrum to rescue a goddess named Din, who has been captured by the dark lord Onox. Din is the oracle of Seasons, and Onox plans to use her to his advantage; casting the seasons of Holodrum into chaos. You have to find eight essences of nature, by traveling through eight dungeons. These dungeons are filled with all sorts of challenges, and will require some thought. I was never stuck too long in a dungeon. However, getting to the dungeons can be a problem. Your "guide," the Maku tree, will give you a vague hint as to where the next dungeons lies. However, he will give absolutely no inclination as to the three or four things you must do to get there, which could include finding a rusty bell in a strange place, and then giving it to a pirate. The dungeons themselves are great, although they all follow a certain pattern. Link must basically find his way through the dungeon, find a new item, fight a mini-boss, and then fight a big boss. Every single dungeon is designed that way, but its just a small thing. Don't worry, you'll be challenged by every single one. The graphics are pretty good for a GBC game. The view is from the top-down, and you can see every character clearly, right down to there facial expressions. The hardest part to this game is actually the bosses. It took me a week to beat the final boss of a game, and I never beat any boss in less than three tries. I have never played a game with such hard bosses. The oracle of seasons is a great game. I loved it, and I bet you will too.

Editorial Review Based on the Nickelodeon movie of the same name, Jimmy Neutron: BoyGenius follows the adventures of a whiz kid and his robot dog, Goddard. Theparents of Retroville have been kidnapped, and it's up to Jimmy to save themwhile defeating the vile Yokians and the evil King Goobot. Before Jimmy can dothat, however, he must find all the parts of a spaceship so he can embark on hisquest. At his disposal are a wide variety of gadgets, including lasers, googuns, jetpacks, rockets, and grappling guns. The game features 24 levels thattake place in locations such as Retroville, a meteor field, and the YokianEmpire. Perhaps the strongest part of the game is its multiplayer mode, whichsupports up to four players via link cable. In this mode, players compete tocollect the most coins while slowing the opposition with goo darts. The single-player game incorporates basic platform elements. Players spend mostof the time running, jumping, and collecting objects. It's hardly innovative, but it works for a younger audience. The four racing levels also add somevariety. Extremely young gamers may need an adult handy to deal with the game'sheavy text and poor save system; the latter uses long passwords to track aplayer's progress. All in all, this is a good game for fans of the series. Itfeatures strong graphics and plenty of the film's flavor. Adept players willbreeze through the single-player game, although the multiplayer mode provides afair amount of replay value. --Raymond M. Padilla Pros:

Editorial Review Madden NFL 2002 delivers old-fashioned Madden gameplay with a classic mode that lets you relive the golden days of Madden NFL 93. You can also learn the X's and O's from the master himself, John Madden, with the all-new training mode. Develop your game-playing skills in defensive mode and head-to-head play in the two-minute drill, or perfect your playbook by repeating any play with the new Mulligan feature. The Madden Meter lets you track players' intensity levels, and a new kick meter will drill you on your kicking skills. You can play with one to four players. And, if that's not enough, this release's new Madden cards now feature cheerleaders. ... Read more Reviews (16)
Madden 2002 has many good and bad things about it, Great A.I. and it is also very realistic, maybe too realistic. I say too realistic because you can get fidgity when the Refs pullout the chain or the teams switch sides. It shows all of this so it can really be time consuming. Also, a good QB can complete at least 65%of their passes. EA dosen't agree with me though 'cause in Madden 2002 even if your guy is open there is still a good chance that the ball will go through their head or their hands. Quick, name a RB who can rush 12 yards a carry. What, no one does, well go tell that to EA cause on the hardest diffulculty I can rush for 12 yards a carry with Browns running back Rhite. Bottom Line: Rent it, or pick it up at a yard sale cheap.

Editorial Review In SpongeBob SquarePants: SuperSponge, players take the role of SpongeBob on a quest to secure the autographs of his heroes, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. This is no simple task--SpongeBob must complete silly errands such as retrieving beauty products from the bottom of the world and fetching Kelp Kandy Bars. SpongeBob even has to borrow a time machine to travel to prehistoric Bikini Bottom for a shell bra outfit made of rare clams. But whether he's searching for the ultimate spatula to perfect his Krabby Patty-flipping technique at the Krusty Krab, or just hanging out with his best friend Patrick (an amiable starfish), SpongeBob's good intentions and overzealous nature usually create chaos in his underwater world. ... Editorial Review Scooby Doo! Classic Creep Capers is a single-player game in whichthe goal is to solve three mysteries (two of them based on classic episodes; the other is allnew). You play the game as Shaggy while Scooby-Doo tags along, nipping at your heelsas you move around the game's various levels. The graphics are completely cartoon-style,and the game is played from a third-person perspective. Nobody actually dies in this game, which is good. So, instead of the life meter commonto most adventure games, Classic Creep Capers has a courage meter, which letsyou know how much more fright Shag and Scoob can stand without bolting out of thelevel and having to start anew. Each time something scares them--which happens prettyfrequently--they lose some of their courage, and the game pauses to feature a shakeanimation. The gameplay is very straightforward--sometimes inanely so. What you're asked to do ismove Shaggy through each level, picking up clues and various other items that can beused to trap the villainous level bosses. You can't proceed from one level to the next untilyou've picked up everything. While unraveling these mysteries, players use the A button for practically everything. The player presses it to search for things, pick up items, and to talk to people. The onlyother button used is the R button, which opens up the game's menu screen. It's just amatter of tapping the A button to activate a particular item and use it or give it to the gangto help solve the mystery. It's all very simple, which turns out to be one of the game'sstrengths. Although the idea of unmasking fake ghosts will no doubt appeal to theSaturday-morning nostalgia of older gamers, this game is aimed squarely at the younger set in bothits content and gameplay. --Todd Mowatt Pros:

The graphics are great, one of n64's best graphics yet, especially for a motocross game, but annoying little graphics glitches sometimes appear which is a shame, otherwise the graphics are smooth and nice on the eyes. Just the little graphic glitches which decrease its score to 4.5/5. The sound is pretty good, the music through out the game is easy enough to cope with. As for the sound effects, they are what you would expect from an extreme game. You hear yells when you ride off a cliff, you can hear the irrating motorbike noise as you race, you can hear thumps when you hit the ground hard. The only complaint about the sound is that the comentator's speech is a little repetitive, but otherwise you can get rid of the comentator. 4/5 The controls are not very good at times your bike just goes any random direction. The reason why the game is hard is due to the control. Otherwise its pretty easy to pull of tricks, however there could have been a better job on the control. 3.5/5 The fun factor is pretty good, you can race your friends on which ever tracks you have completed, and you can verse them on most of the special tracks which you can get by winning certain stages. The special features include the "desert" where you just race to a fire and then race to the next fire, no multiplayer for this. "stunt course" is a course where you can challenge your friends or yourself in performing as many stunts to get as many points. "original excitebike" is a feature you get by completing the tutorial. Its just the super nintendo version of excitebike. "soccer" is a feature were you verse your friends in soccer on a bike. "hill climb" is were you verse your friends or yourself up a steep hill. "excite 3d" is a really good fun race course. The main fun factor in this game is the create a track mode. While there may be many features, this game doesn't have many great features. 4/5 The replay value is great, and probably the most effective thing about the game. You will want to keep racing on those very nice outdoor/indoor tracks. 5/5 The main things which bother me about this game is that it could improve 1. Contain more stunts i mean 15 stunts isn't much for a motocross game. 2. Make it that you can control the time limit for the stunt course, i mean 2 minutes, c'mon. 3. Make the controls easier. The main highlights of the game is the create a trak mode which allows you to create a track, the high replay value and the very interesting outdoor tracks. ... Read more Subjects: 1. Video Games

The "problem" with this remake is that no improvements were made to any of the games. They are faithful and EXACT representations of their Genesis counterparts. Now, I grew up on these games back in the early 90's and I loved them, so of course I loved the nostaglic appeal PS Collection had. But if I were talking to a new gamer ... someone who hadn't played the originals, then there's no way I would be able to recommend this compared to the titles avaliable today. By today's standards, these are really boring dungeon crawlers ... no side quests, no item custimzation, drab and now-cliched storylines ... it lacks the punch some of the current games have. These games were from a much different gaming era, and they show it. Without any kind of improvement, they just can't hold their own with some of today's titles. I can only recommend this product to people who played at least one of the originals, know what is coming and are looking for nostalic appeal, because that's really their one and only draw. ... Editorial Review Welcome to the world of Pokémon, one filled with wild Pokémon and the people who attempt to tame them. You are Ash Ketchum, a boy on a quest to become the best Pokémon trainer in the world. Professor Oak, the leading authority on Pokémon, has given you your choice of three tame Pokémon in exchange for your helping him catalog and document every Pokémon in the world. But to catalog a Pokémon, you have to capture it, by first beating it up with one of your trained Pokémon, and then hitting it with an empty Poké Ball. As your tame Pokémon gain experience in battle, their abilities improve and they earn access to new attacks. Sometimes they even evolve into more advanced Pokémon. Aside from capturing wild Pokémon and evolving your own, you can catalog new Pokémon--the only way to gather some Pokémon--by trading with another Pokémon player using either a link cable or the Game Boy Color's infrared system. Pokémon gained through trades learn and evolve faster, and trading is the only way to capture all 151 Pokémon, since each Pokémon game (Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, andPokémon Yellow) has certain Pokémon missing. So if you own Red and want to have a complete set of Pokémon, you must find a friendly Blue or Yellow owner and arrange a trade. Pokémon Red is packed with interesting characters, an ingenious story hook, intriguing strategy, and of course plenty of cute Pokemon, and it's easy to see how it started the Pokémania that is sweeping the world. --Michael Fehlauer Pros:

Editorial Review Dodge ball, the schoolyard sport in which kids bean each other withrubber balls thrown at welt-raising velocity, really is the sport of bullies.Thankfully, Super Dodge Ball Advance presents an experience in which thewelts aren't included, while lots of fun and laughs are. The game features two teams of squat, cartoonish, big-headed kids. Some are onthe playing field and some reside in the back zone ready to scoot up a lob andnail an opponent in the back or from the side. The animations, particularly whena kid gets squashed, are amusing, and, after all, are also the point of thegame. Amass points and win the match, then move on to the next horde ofbig-headed kids. There are several kinds of throws you can make to surprise your opponents, including a cool corkscrew throw and a straight-up overhanded bean ball. As youknock teams out (no pun intended), you advance toward the world competition(shades of South Park here), where you represent your favorite nation. You can also link up with an opponent for a little head-to-head action, which isthe best way to dish out some virtual pain onto local bullies who lack your madvideo gaming skills. --Andrew S. Editorial Review The weirdest ears in gaming come to the Game Boy Advance in Klonoa:Empire of Dreams. Klonoa, the supercute critter with limblike ears, musthelp Emperor Jillius, who has been struck with a strange illness that robs himof the ability to dream. It's up to Klonoa to defeat the monsters that areterrorizing the empire and solve the mystery behind the emperor's ailment. Featuring 40 levels spanning five worlds, this title mixes up gameplay nicely.Action stages are traditional 2-D platform levels, similar to classicMario and Sonic games. In these levels, Klonoa runs or rides ahover board through obstacle-filled lands. Boss stages pit Klonoa against alarge creature with a hidden weak point. The most engaging levels are the puzzlestages, which require Klonoa to gather three keys to unlock the exit. Thesestages are very well designed, requiring thought and imagination on the player'spart. In order to reach some keys, Klonoa will need to grab certain objects, monsters, or a combination thereof to reach his goal. Because each monsterproduces a different effect when thrown, and various surfaces react differentlywhen hit, lots of trial and error is required. Although the game's graphics are very bright, they aren't as detailed as inother GBA games. The sound is excellent, but the cute music andeffects--particularly the gibberish language spoken by the characters--might be annoyingto older gamers. Those with an aversion to cuteness should just hit the mutebutton, sit back, and enjoy one of the best platform games for the GBA.--Raymond M. Padilla Pros:

But then Klonoa really surprised me; it wasn't just a platformer. It made me think about what I was doing instead of just running through a level bopping enemies. The levels are cleverly designed and usually are just as much vertical as they are horizontal. The difficulty curve for the puzzles is well done.It starts out easy and gets progressively tougher until the end, when you're likely to be stumped by a couple of puzzles. Some fun snowboarding levels add variety. Overall, Klonoa should be owned by anybody with a Game Boy Advance.A bit of a warning though: it's kind of short.
PROS: CONS: .Repetitive music and sound Don't laugh. Nothing's funny in this game. Play this game for 5 seconds, laugh at how bad it is, and never speak of it again. That's all I can say. If you're looking for something exellent, try Klonoa for Sony Playstation and/or Klonoa 2 for Sony Playstation 2!
