fun and creative

Enjoyed
I got this for my three-year-old neice for Christmas and she had the best time with this.She loved it- the "crowns" are really small...so they didn't really fit (which was a little frustrating for her), but she has found more joy in just simply carrying her many "knick-knacks" around the house in the little suitcase...which she loves.

Cute but thought there would be more
My daughter liked this but I really thought it would be better quality. The tiara's they have in there are quite small and you have to put certain stickers in certain spots. Everything I just thought could have been made easier for a little girl to just go and have fun creating and you really need to be there walking them through it, which isn't bad. We had a good time spending time together doing the projects. I just would have liked to see better quality and tiara's that fit.
Overall though for a princess fan she will still love it cause she isn't going to be picky like the parents:) ... Read more

Good quality for price
Good quality supplies made for heavy duty use.Nice big "brushy" brushes - heavy duty nylon bristles resist "flopping" and are easy to clean.Sponge applicators are easy to use and fun shapes - they don't fall apart and they wash clean. Paint is in worthwhile size containers - just need an inch or so in the cup at a time, bottle will last a long time. Lidded cups keep paint from drying out and have large brush wells. Crayons and chalk are standard issue - would be better if they were thicker, "pre-school" size.All in all - a very good basic supply.My grandson wants to "do painting" every time he visits.

not a (real) kid!
i am an artist; i make a lot of greeting cards.i have found blo-pens to be a lot of fun and i have been very creative with them.i found that i do better when i use my own stencils, and i have experimented a lot with the pens.my frustration is not being able to find just the pens, except for the "bold" colors, which i do not need.and i don't like the color change pens (the colors are blah, as far as i'm concerned).would love to know how to find an assortment of pens.

12" Raised Relief Explorer Globe
It's amazing how much a child learns by having access.We are an American family living in Germany and felt my 5 year old would have a greater understanding of where we live and where our extended family lives.

There should be one in every house!
What a great, inexpensive globe.It's fascinating to watch a child spin a globe - even if they don't seem like they are learning anything, at least they are getting a general idea of the immense size of our world!Since getting this globe, my 5 year old son has learned about the continents and the oceans, found Australia on his own and pointed out that Antarctica is bigger than the USA.It seems that the globe gets loose from it's stand somewhat easily, but it is easily tightened.All in all, a great buy with terrific educational value.

poorly designed stand
The globe itself is ok and has a lot of educational value for kids starting out in geography, but the stand is so poorly designed that when you rotate the globe on its axis, the stand easily detaches from the globe.The whole point is to be able to rotate it, so in effect it's not very usable if you have to keep fixing the stand again and again.A heavier stand that would not move when rotating the globe would probably work better.The attaching mechanism needs redesign too -- right now it's just a screw in the base. ... The coolest lunchbox around!
My son loves everything Thomas.This was especially a big hit because of it's durability and style.I love the fact that it comes with everything!The sandwich container has a double decker compartment, and is perfect for a sandwich (or chicken nuggets, etc.), and the other compartment, which is like an extra plate inside the container is perfect for sides of veggies.The pop-up canteen is spillproof, and my son does love to drink out of it.And unlike other pop-up straws, this straw is short and hard, so it won't hamper speech development (otherwise they will just be sucking on it like a pacifier).It is also roomy enough to include other essentials like napkins, and cutlery, or a small toy.The only drawback is that the artwork in the canteen is falling apart, but I thought that was because it has been handwashed several times with a harsh detergent when we went to India for a month.Now I use the dishwasher and it has stopped the deterioration of the artwork.And also, my three-year old tends to fumble when opening or closing the hatch.On the other hand, he will be developing his fine-motor skills!With or without lunch, he loves toting it around and storing his toys on it.Plus, we get a lot of praise whenever other kids or moms see it, and they always asks us where we bought it!

straw cup comments
One reviewer mentionedthe straw cup being a major pain to clean.It doesn't have to be that way. I bought pipe cleaners, and when I clean it, I use those for the straw -- no need to disassemble.Also, if I really want to be careful, I'll run it through the microwave in a sterilizer with my baby bottles when I do those.Never have to worry.the cup is the main reason I love this product.I have a two year old, and the cup is great for travel, never spills, and she drinks a lot of water when she uses it.

You do have to replace the water fairly frequently because it takes on a plastic taste (indicates chemicals leaching from the plastic that you DO NOT want your child to inject) over the course of the day.

Not Dishwasher Safe
I purchased both this lunch box, and a similar one offered by the same company, (apparently no longer available,) at the same time, and put both into use on the same day.

We put the sandwich cases and bottles in the dishwasher at least 3 to 4 times a week.As of November 1st, the art on both Thomas products (bottle and sandwich case) is badly scarred and faded, with many areas showing no paint at all. (The white areas were the first to go.)The markings (ballet slippers) on the other lunch box set are unmarred and unchanged. This was disappointing, to say the least.However, it may be our fault, though I do not recall any warnings that these were not dishwasher safe.

However, the lunch box as a whole is rugged and works well. Our children enjoy using them.Just be aware: should you purchase this item, I suggest it be hand-washed only to preserve the art. ... Read more

Excellent Combination of Supplies for Creating Art for Kids
This is an excellent collection of easy-to-use art supplies for children. It includes the drawing "tools" my daughters like to use most. This collection empowers children to be creative.

I suggest you buy this Crayola set, a case of cheap paper, a couple rolls of invisible tape, a pencil sharpener, a bottle of Elmer's school glue, and a stapler (for sure). Then give your child frequent access to the supplies to draw pictures and design things. Your child's creativity will emerge on its own.

Great backpack!
I got this backpack to use with the My First Leappad I got for my daycare.I am able to store the Leappad and six books and cartridges neatly.It's easy for the 2 & 3 year olds to carry around and use and keeps everything from getting broken or lost.This is a must-have!

Fisher Price Reader Backpack
I have not seen this backpack but all the reviews mention the fact that it only holds three books and cartridges.We (my wife) found a backpack for the Fisher Price Reader that holds twelve books and cartridges.This backpack easily holds the books, cartridges, and the leap pad in one convenient place.

Very nice, but there are way better options out there!
My four year old has this backpack (...)My kiddo barely uses this backpack.On her small frame (fits size 5 now), it's very akward for her to walk with it on, because the book ends up being wider than her body.This causes her to get stuck in doors and tight spaces.I usually just end up holding the thing for her, don't know about your kid but mine hates wearing backpacks for long anyway!

The design is hard on their bodies because the book is so flat, and with extra books in the backpack it's very hard against the back.

The backpack doesn't hold many of the books, I can fit maybe 2 in there. (...) Don't buy this, it'll just sit on the shelf!

a must for the leappad
This is a big help in storing the leappad, books and cartridges. It keeps everything organized and is great for travel. You can get the pink one to match the pink leappad or the blue/green one for the blue system. I only wish there were more mesh slots for the cartridges but you can fit 2 in each slot (store 8 cartridges). Well worth it.

Needs a bit more padding to be perfect.
My 5yr old got the LeapPad writing system for Xmas, and we also needed a way for him to be responsible for his own "laptop computer".Pockets are large and wuite roomy to carry extra books & cartridges, and the two color options (boy vs. girl) is a nice touch.

The nylon fabric seems quite durable, similar to soft-sided suitcases. Will probably clean off easily too. The nylon seems strong enough to be able to hold its shape under "little boy" use for a while.

I wish it had some padding so that when my son wears it, he doesn't have such a hard object banging him on the back. He tends to run a lot. I'm sure he won't even notice all that stuff flopping around behind him, but it's something that wouldn't have been that difficult to incorporate into the design (I believe the Backpack I had some padding).

This is a must have for the Leap Pad!
We got this backpack along with the leap pad and 6 other books and gave it to our son as an early Christmas gift.He loves it and the backpack is perfect!He can get everything out and play with his leap pad books and then he puts them all back up in the backpack and when we go somewhere he packs it with him to the car.I never have to worry about him losing his cartridges as they are stored safetly in the backpack pockets and everything is light weight and easy for our 3 1/2 year old to carry by him self.

Leap to Order
For the price this is a great accessory for your LeapPad!My son gets twice the number of cartridges and books it it with plenty of room to spare.We even have some ziplocks with extras that can fit in no problem.The padded straps are easy on the shoulders and everything is neat and safely transported from grams house to friends to the doctor's office and everywhere in between.If you travel with your little one and their pad this is a great help.

Oh and big deal about the color difference.IF that's such a concern that it warrants a trip back to the store you have WAY too much time on your hands. My advice: use that extra time to read with your child!Life is too short and childhood too precious.

over priced
I bought this for my GrandSon, and was very disappointed at how very little was in it for $39.95. I could have bought the contents separately for a total of $10.00; and the case was cheaply made too. I buy many products through ToysRUs ,and this was the 1st disappointment.

Just wonderful!
This has to be one of the best possible art case available for the budding artist.The supplies and the case are of extremely high quality (no cheap vinyl here -- but that's why the price is, unfortunately, nearly forty dollars).The case is also very roomy and versatile. There's enough space to slip an additional book or two (or other small toys) inside at the last minute, so the contents always seem "fresh".We take this case with us everywhere (without the paints, of course), and it keeps our four-year-old daughter very contented while waiting in restaurants, airports, etc.

One problem, however, is the lack of a pencil sharpener to accompany the colored pencils.Granted, this is a minor fault, but, since Alex Toys has a reputation for creating excellent products, this omission seems somewhat inexplicable. ... Read more

It's cool, but doesn't last long.
I am 9.My mom got me this lunch box and I like it alot.The kids in my class liked it too.I could open it fine but the latch broke after 3 months.My dad glued it but it didn't last, so we had to throw it away.That's my review.

Clever in concept - frustrating in application
This looks like a fun lunchbox, no doubt - but my little boy couldn't even open it without assistance.That's not any fun! The thermos doesn't have any kind of latch inside the lunchbox to keep it from rolling around, so sandwiches were constanly getting squished.Furthermore, this thing is BIG and bulky!It did not fit comfortably into a regular-sized backpack to take to school.

Ours is now a storage unit for small toys.

Only Good for the Looks

Cute backpack
I ordered this backpack for my 4 yr old going off to Pre-K.I didn't think to read the reviews until after I had ordered it.I was a bit nervous by all the people who hadn't gotten the backpack they ordered.I am glad to say that we are very happy...the backpack pictured was what we received and the size is perfect for her.

I got a different backpack than this one also
I ordered this backpack for my daughter in September.It isn't the backpack shown in the picture but my 7 year old still liked it for her 7th birthday.She isn't gentle at all on her backpacks and this one has held up through it all.I am glad she can enjoy the things I enjoyed when I was her age.

I, like the other reviewers, ordered this backpack thinking I would get what is pictured.So did my 5-year old.I received the "Berry Sweet" one with Strawberry Shortcake on a swing too.I emailed customer service and they quickly shipped a replacement, but it was the same bag they sent the first time.Fortunately, my daughter liked the other one as much and took it proudly to kindergarten.I'll be wary in the future though of placing orders here. ... The whole idea was fun. The kit is definitely well designed and beading with it was not too complex for a kid. I especially love the case that came with this. Not a bad buy -- depending on the price
My son is 3 1/2 and love blues clues.My daughter is just beginning to like them.

I have every notebook, 2 of Steves, 4 of Joes and also the soft pillow one.

I have just a few complaints:

I have NO idea where to find extra crayons. (...)My son used his up in less than a day.

Also, the spiral part keeps coming out.My son also got frustrated because the crayon won't stay in the spiral.

I think $12.00 is a little expensive, especially being it only comes with 1 crayon and if your child likes blues clues as much as mine do, they try to copy everything, including the crayon.

Overpriced, there IS a better option!
We have both this notebook and Joe's Notebook (ASIN B00006JZ93)and there is no comparison, Joe's notebook is ten times better!My 2 1/2 yr old son can't understand why the crayon won't stay in the spiral like Steve's and gets very frustrated.The plastic spiral also is always working it's way out one end and has to be fixed.Some pages ripped out on us, and my son is not hard on toys.It is not worth the money!Buy Joe's Notebook instead, it costs less, includes three rubber stamps, and is so much more fun!!

Absolutely love this!
My 3yr old son loves this.Says..'It's soft like a pillow and it's a notebook".It come w/ 3 paw parints that stick to just about anything...so you can play Blues Clues w/ real pawprints. The first few pages have pretyped Bed-Time info on them - but that OK, the kids just write over it AND there are plenty of blank pages at the end.
If you're child loves Blue as much as mine. You will both have a lot of fun with this toy.PS.. The little decals it also comes with are worthless- they don't stick and will be lost in the first day.Save yourself a big headache and just toss them. ... Read more

Markers dry out very quickly!
The case these markers come in is great!However, the markers themselves are of very poor quality, they dried out within a couple of weeks, and my daughters kept the caps on them.

Sanity-saver for busy family
We have had a set like this since my 6 year old was 2. We take it everywhere: restaurants, in the car, waiting in line, whatever. Look at the picture of how small it is when it folds up. It is about the size of a small girl's purse. My two girls fight over who gets to carry it. No, the crayons are not as "good" as Crayola, but I don't use this as my main crayon source. These are our movable crayons. We've used it and refilled it. Great gift!

Crayola Crayons are not worth a penny. I paid 100 dollars for a bulk set of crayons of ONE color, and they didnt even send it! I ordered this about 2 weeks ago, and they didnt even have crayons in it. What a rip-off. My child was disappointed with this product.

"Chunky Crayons" aren't chunky...
Although not in the item description, the Editorial review states: "Crayons to Go is a satisfyingly chunky home for 100 chunky crayons."
