1-0 out of 5 stars This game is horrible!
This game was very difficult to play.Troop movements are near impossible because the soldiers are so small.Game play was very poor.It is basically the French version of Command and Conquer, but with very poor play characteristics.I would not recommend buying this game.

1-0 out of 5 stars STINKS
I first got this game for Christmas and thought it would be great but I was wrong.I first started playing and there were bad graphics, bad gameplay and it would take forever to complete one mission since your troops would have to go around this world finding bad guys. Purely...poor.I can see why Dreamcast is going down.

4-0 out of 5 stars More for less
For 20 dollars this is not a bad game.Sure it's all been done on the computer but as the first RTS game for the dc it's not a horrible game.Like many other RTS games it has the basic army and enemy action, auto fighting, a lot of missions, and multiple campaigns. It also adds the element of the media, you must portray the other team as the bad guys and you as the peacemakers. If you kill civilians in front of the media you will get a bad rep.But if your enemy bombs civilians and you defeat them you will become more respected. This aspect of the game makes it stand out from the rest. When I first got it I was surpised at how easy it was to adjust to the controller instead of a basic mouse and keyboard. After you turn down the map scroll speed things are a lot better. The graphics are nothing special, unless you zoom in a whole lot to really get in on the action. Then some lag comes into play. The sound on the game is basic.Overall if you do not have the computer version of this and would like to pick up one last NEW dreamcast game then this one is for you. ... Editorial Review

Ready for some serious speed? You might be ready to strap yourself intoTest Drive V-Rally, part of the time-tested series of ultrarealistic racegames. Slip behind the wheel of one of 16 fully licensed rally cars, or earn theuse of one of 10 bonus cars, and take to the rally track for a high-speed cruisearound the world.

V-Rally takes full advantage of the Dreamcast's speed, and it really doesappear that your car is screaming along at 130 miles per hour--the road windingbeneath your vehicle, and realistically rendered scenery blurring as you zoompast. Unfortunately, controlling your car also can make it feel like you'recruising at 130-plus miles per hour--rollovers are frequent whenever youinevitably leave the road.

Crashes like this do more than just delay you. Unlike the vehicles in someracing games, those in V-Rally are far from invulnerable, and show thevarious scratches, dents, and outright crunches that they suffer during races. Thus, in addition to saving money to purchase a new vehicle, the player alsomust pay to have damage repaired before the next race.

And the next race always seems to be coming, with V-Rally serving up morethan 80 tracks that are spread through 12 different countries. If these aren'tenough to keep your wheels spinning, try one of the game's strongest features, the track generator, which can be used to create radical tracks that can besaved to the VMU and traded with friends. --Benjamin Reese

Pros:

  • Track generator allows players to create custom courses
  • Over 80 tracks in 12 different countries
  • Incredibly fast-paced action
  • Real-time damage shown on vehicles
Cons:
  • Annoying soundtrack
  • Vehicles flip easily

2-0 out of 5 stars decent game, absence of fun
this is a good, well made game. but it just isnt fun for someone who wants to buy a racing game that'll be good fun for himself and friends.the soundtrack is so bad that you need to turn it off,and then you realize that the sounds of the chainsaw engines isnt any better. the steering is hard, pretty much every time you go off the road to roll your car .there is about 10 ft on either side of the road in which you can actually drive, and then its just invisable wall. my advise for someone who isn't real serious on simulation, is do not buy this game and save you money and pick up 4x4 Evolution. i know i wish i did.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun & addictive racing game
Graphics: 8.5/10

Sound: 8/10

Gameplay: 8.5/10

Controls: 9/10

Overall: 8.5/10

This is a great racer that racing and even non-racing fans will have a lot of fun with.

PROS...

*Pretty to look at

*Fast, fluid graphics

*Good car control and physics

*Very fast loading of game menus and races

*Lots of cars to choose from

*Variable skill levels

*Good selection of courses

CONS...

*Some "pop-up" of scenery graphics

*Cars flip over too easily

If the two negative aspects above had been addressed by the programmers, I would give this game five stars. These are relatively minor issues, however, and don't take away from my overall enjoyment of the game (and, in terms of the car flipping, it doesn't happen too much since I learned how to drive ;) ). All in all, Test Drive V-Rally is an excellent racing game, and one of the best available for the Dreamcast.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for Rally fans
Rally racing's lack of popularity in the USA continues to baffle me and this game only adds to that puzzlement.

Crisp graphics and detailed sounds are to be expected in any good game.In particular, the in-car view is second-to-none.You actually feel disoriented by the tossing that your car gets from the bumps in the track.

What really sets this game apart from other Rally games is the greateradherence to realism. In other Rally games, the road is widened considerably to make the game approachable. As any Rally fan will attest, in real Rallying, the road is two cars wide at best. This game captures this claustrophobia better than any other.

You will not find a better Rally game. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Just Like the Title Says...
The title of the game pretty much says it all, but not in the way I'd hoped.I bought this hoping for something stupidly funny, brought it home, popped it in, and found myself terribly shocked. The majority of the jokes are quite crude (one of the aliens is a transvestite and gets risque phone calls, there is a pipe-organ in one room in the house and a certain comment is made, etc.)I had to make sure my daughter was elsewhere while playing. The character designs and settings are in places very disturbing/creepy/depressing and the few jokes that actually were funny were too few and too far between to counter-balance this. The puzzles were not challenging, and having to very specifically place your pointer to do things and being unable to skip through certain scenes was incredibly frustrating.Overall I was very disappointed and the only reason I gave it a two is that I did actually finish the game before deciding I never wanted to see it again.I strongly suggest spending your money elsewhere.

4-0 out of 5 stars Magforce racing
Magforce racing has a wide variety of ships(about 30)!In 5 classes,primetime,class1,class2,class3,and class4. if you like hardcore fast action racing, you'll love this!

2-0 out of 5 stars The Low End of Mediocrity
This is a Wipeout-style racer featuring blazing-fast frame-rates, vibrant colors and violent loop-de-loops on many different futuristic tracks. But each of these good points is lost when combined into the resulting whole.

First, the presentation/interface is inspired by minimalist 2-color graphic design. It doesn't work. There is also no real "championship" or surrounding career modes.Just pick a mag-car and track, then pick another mag-car for that track to start clearing it.Finish the available tracks with available cars and the next "level" appears. That's it.

The racing itself is terribly simplistic, with easy to defeat AI, an OPTIONAL magnetic levitation move, and weak (WEAK) weaponry.I never thought a high-speed, high-framerate racing game could put me to sleep, but here it is!

Add in atrocious "car" models (made of maybe 3 polygons each?!) and lacking music.I actually played through most of Tier 2 just to see what new "3-polygon" models might come up.It wasn't worth the time.

3-0 out of 5 stars MagForce (Killer Loop?)
For those of you who liked Killer Loop for the Playstation, you should love this. That's because it IS Killer Loop under another title. Imagine aswift, smooth, floating pod-racer without the roar. Not much noise oraction, but plenty of speed. A bit untraditional in gameplay. One can'tsimply gun-it to win. One must use the offensive and defensive power-ups togain ground. This makes it a bit more challenging. Excellent lightingeffects. Music is typical techno style. ... Read more

Editorial Review

If you're a fan of motorcycle racing games, then you might want to booksome private time with your trusty game console. Acclaim's motorcycle racer hasplenty of good ideas going for it, but substandard follow-through and too-easyraces keep it trapped in the middle of the pack.

In addition to the standard Gran Turismo-esque races, licensing tests, and upgrades, Ducati World offers a number of innovative gameplayoptions. For example, the game's challenge mode allows players to choose theirbikes and put money on the line in a head-to-head race. It might be gambling, but at least it's cheaper than racing for real pink slips.

While the game has plenty of bikes to choose from, including several from yearsgone by, the racing is at times so easy that most seasoned gamers will soonstart looking around the room for other discs to spin. A collection of gameplaymodes will keep the attention of hard-core bike enthusiasts, but this game willseem to others as rushed as an impromptu game of chicken. Ducati World'sgraphics are dated, and its music is simply terrible. --Todd Mowatt

1-0 out of 5 stars *** THIS GAME STINKS ***
I totally agree with the other reviews. The physics in Puke-kati are lame.I'm surprised that Acclaim put their name on this one.Re-volt, another Acclaim game, is one of the best racing games I've played. Buy that one.

1-0 out of 5 stars Utter crap
How this game got released I don't know. The animation is slow and choppy, the graphics are cruddy, and the game itself just seems like a big joke. I played this for about 10 seconds before realizing what a horrible mistake I'd made purchasing it. It's sad, too, because I was really looking forward to a good motorcycle racing game on the Dreamcast. Buyer beware!

1-0 out of 5 stars do not waste your time or money please,
This game I thought would be cool because the fact that it involves ducati's. I was wrong the worst graphic cliping I have seen on dreamcast bad graphic's, bad frame rate, horrible physic's and bad sound effects as well as music. I took it back the next day and echanged it for the best racing game I have seen on dreamcast. That was Test Drive Le Mans it is great I highly recomend it I was happy that Ducati was so bad and I had to exchange it after the first five minutes of test drive le mans I was hooked, that's a five star game not to mention it is only $... so run out and get it. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great New Spin-Off From Classic Game
This is a great new adventure for fans of Q*Bert.Although some of the sound effects are awkward, all of the original characters are there, plus more of the ones that never appeared in the classic game.Game play is still adictive, and the layout changes with each board.
Definitly recomended to those who like classic games, and don't mind seeing new worlds and stories for classic characters.

5-0 out of 5 stars Never-ending Replay
Of the dozens of games I have for DC, often I just choose to play some Giga Wing 2 after work.True appreciation of the game is undoubtedly reserved for shooter fans, though. The 3D, high-res graphics can be very impressive even for casual gamers, but the impetus to play and replay for better scores is not something for everyone.

There are LOTS of things to unlock, from over 80 pieces of very nice artwork to two "Secret Options" which require a very high cumulative score (saved to VMU after each session) to open up.

Technically, it is also under-rated even by some shooter fans. For instance, the "Vulcanon" effect--in which a certain high number of bonus medals (released from expiring enemies) on screen at once transforms into even higher scoring medals--discourages "kill and cover" medal collection. You have to sit back and brave more enemy fire BEFORE starting collecting your hard-earned bonus medals, or you'll lose the "Vulcanon" effect.

As a shooter fan, this comes in second on Dreamcast only to the import-only Zero Gunner 2, and ties the excellent, less-flashy but more-technical Mars Matrix.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great, but too short!
I'm a big 2D shooter fan, and I have to say that this is one of the funnest shooters I've ever played. It's also very beautiful. The graphics are really wonderful to look at. Also, the rechargable shield system the player's ship uses makes the game that much more interesting. Now, the bad news: this game is really short, and because of the infinite continues you get it's really easy as well. When I say short I mean you can finish this game inside of 15 or 20 minutes. It's fun while it lasts, though, and has surprising replay value. The graphics, gameplay, and music keep me coming back. If this game had more levels I'd give it five stars easily. Still, short game or not, I'm glad to have Gigawing 2 in my collection.

3-0 out of 5 stars Unimpressed....
I really liked the graphic on the cover, but the game is pretty disappointing. It's a shooter game that largely misses.

You choose between various cool looking fighters. But the actual game play is lame, you fire relentlessly on countless enemies, and hit your reflect button constantly.

I've rented this game and played it for about 20 minutes.I think that about does it for me and this game. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great game for the Dreamcast
Who can say the Dreamcast is really dead when quality game after quality game comes out? Sports Jam is no exception. A port of the arcade game, Sports Jam is a button mashing fest of 12 events from various sports. Some of the events include a 3 point basketball shootout, a home-run derby, a soccer corner kick and penalty shootout game, a putting golf game, a football field kicking game and a football running game. Most of these events require you to mash the buttons as fast as you can just like their cousins, Decathelete and Winter Heat on the Sega Saturn. The graphics are excellent and the sound is great with an announcer and all. The most fun with Sports Jam is with 2 players; you'll end up playing this for hours with friends. The only problem is that the game will get repetitive after a while but for the amount of fun Sports Jam is, it's well worth buying it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A treasure in memory of ECW
THIS IS ONE HARDCORE GAME! As soon as you know how to play then the action begins and boy does ANARCH RULE! There are over 25 modes of play! You can create a charecter, ppv, and stable(group). The controls might be a little iffy at first but once you learn them, you'll be drawn straight into the game! The controls make suprise moves possible. You DON'T allways have to grab to do a move!I ordered this game a few days ago and just got it today. During the course of this time I was waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Everyday I listened for the sound of a doorbell. Today I was eating lunch and suddenly I heard a DINGDONG. I jumped up and ran to my door. I saw no one except one pagage waiting for me. I grabbed it and opened it to find ECW ANARCHY RULZ! I tried it at once and I am very, very pleased!! ECW ANARCHY RULZ is a great game and a great product in memory of ECW.

1-0 out of 5 stars THIS GAME DESERVES ZERO STARS!!!!
Without a doubt, this has to be the worst skateboarding game ever.I'm ashamed to admit that I own the thing. The graphics, physics, controls, and overall gameplay are HORRIBLE.

Andy McDonald should have stuck with his skating partner and appeared in Tony Hawk instead. How embarrassing!

Run from it!Run!

4-0 out of 5 stars A bit underrated....
If other skateboarding games weren't around, everyone may be liking this game more.THPS set the bar pretty high though, and most gamers seem immediately compelled to draw comparisons (myself included).I think it is best to look at this game on its own for what it's worth. It has some good points, and some nice tricks.I have also gotten some huge air.
Games like this one are pretty cheap these days so you could probably pick it up if you are a skateboarding fan. So why limit yourself to one franchise?Variety is good!

Editorial Review

Bomberman Online sends the Dreamcast out with a bang, bringing this classic multiplayer title to Sega's now-defunct consolefor the first and last time. For the unfortunate few who missed out onpast installments of Bomberman, the game puts players in a mazeof an arena, arming them with timed bombs used to blow up boxes andother players. Players can kick the bombs down the narrow corridors forlast-second surprises, and when several players all set explosive trapsat the same time, things get hectic in a hurry. It's the perfectcombination of action and strategy.

The single-player game is surprisingly strong, with many levels and newgameplay modes packed with always-challenging objectives. The classicsurvival mode is supplemented with fun variations such as the PanelPaint Rule, in which players use explosions to "paint" the floor of thearena, and victory goes to the player who paints the largest area. Thegame only gets better when one to three other players join in. There'salso an online mode for players with SegaNet accounts. Unfortunately,Sega now charges a monthly fee for its online service, andBomberman simply isn't worth the subscription fee if it's theonly Dreamcast game you plan to play online. If you can round up a fewfriends, however, this is one of the most explosive party gamesavailable for the system. --T. Byrl Baker

Pros:

  • 3-D graphics spice up the 2-D gameplay
  • Plenty of single-player and multiplayer modes to explore
Cons:
  • Online play requires a paid SegaNet account
  • Single-player modes get stale after a few weeks--this is a truemultiplayer game

4-0 out of 5 stars You dropped the bomb online, baby.
Bomberman Online manages to breathe new life into an old formula. I love the new rules and hope they show up elsewhere in the Bomberman series. The online games can be fun when there's no lag, but it feels like this is just too little too late in the life of the Dreamcast. Nonetheless, this is pretty good for one of the last DC games. What can I say? Bomberman Online is, in fact, the bomb. Er, da bomb.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's DA BOMB....well at least for a few weeks
I am a casual fan of Bomberman and this is the first Bomberman I own and I must say that the game is sweet fun...for a while. The gameplay does get repeative and although they added a variety of different game play objectives it still just boiled down to the same thing...bomb for me, bomb for you, bomb for everyone. The graphics are sweet and the Anime intro is MAD, just MAD, I could watch it over and over again. The gameplay as I said is standard and repeatitive although the Aqua fights rule!!!

If you are a Bomberman fanatic then by all means get it you won't be disappointed.

1-0 out of 5 stars Zero Appeal
That's not true, I did enjoy the manga-styled Bomberman movie scenes, but the game... EUH! It's the ancient style, offers very little, and NO variety. I enjoyed the N64 Bomberman for it's multi-player, here they left that out and it left a big gap. Trying to play is ridiculous, the computer loses about 7 percent of the time, and it's no fun attempting to beat them. You never feel responsibility for the loss. The game can change soo quickly that it might as well be set to one minute, to save us time. There's way too much going on in one screen, like 50 different things and it's like you're supposed to try to watch it all, and you don't... and you lose. Also, there isn't even an Adventure mode here! It's all bombing in a small space. You always start out in a cramped area, far away from opponents. It's so old, and dull, it's begging for a drastic gameplay overhaul, like the N64 version (not saying that was great, but it WAS a direction with genuine innovation). All of the elements exist for a fun game, but it doesn't ever come together. I kept wondering when I would get to the fun part. ... ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars breaks easily
When I bought this controller, I liked it so much I bought a second one. Within a month, both controllers analog thumb dial broke loose- just enough to make it impossible to push in the direction you wanted.
Don't buy this controller- they're defective and it'll catch up to you sooner or later.

4-0 out of 5 stars It could have been the greatest racing sim ever...
Some people think that videogames are just entertainment. Not me. Like some people (you know who you are), I've been searching for something more than just a good driving game. I've been searching for a driving simulation. And not just any driving simulation. I seek perfection. Gran Turismo was great, so was Gran Turismo 3. But they did have flaws. Unfortunately, the greatest strength of Ferrari F355 is the greatest weakness of Gran Turismo.

Let me start by saying that Ferrari F355 has great graphics, and nice controls. It's music is annoying, but you can turn it off. The major flaw in the game is that the sense of speed is wrong. You are going 200 miles per hour, and you feel like you're going 50. For this reason, it is nearly impossible to make the sharp turns without flying off the track (due to the incredibly realistic physics). And to make matters worse, the AI of other cars is COMPLETELY unforgiving. Screw up ONCE, and you WILL lose. Not exactly fun. But forget that. I know a lot of people just enjoyed driving around the track by their lonesome. But why?

This game features the greatest selection of tracks of any racing sim EVER. Laguna Seca, Long Beach, Nuremburgring (hope I spelled that right), and of course the almighty Monza. These tracks (and many more) are represented PERFECTLY. If only the game had a correct sense of speed and was a bit easier, it would be the greatest racing sim ever. And if only Gran Turismo 3 featured all the tracks in this game, it would no flaws at all. As it is, this is a great but flawed game, and Gran Turismo will never be THE driving simulation until it has the awesome real world track to back it up.

Oh well. Perhaps someday, someone will make a game with the graphics, the controls, AND the tracks I crave...

4-0 out of 5 stars More cars, courses, and variety needed.
Looking at my headline, you'd think I would give this game a 2. But the graphics are incredible and the ground is just like real. But it's not like Sega GT where you can pick from 130 different cars. All you can do to these cars are change the colors and all the confusing springs in the front and rear. It has also 6 available courses and 5 hidden courses which are all lifelike and all real. But this is more of a simulation game than an arcade game. And that was the most important part of my review.

3-0 out of 5 stars I still love Ferraris.
BEFORE I START, FOR ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE THIS GAME AND THINK IT [STINKS], OR EVEN IF YOU LIKE IT, .... DISCOVER A WAY TO UNLOCK 5 MORE COURSES!! Now that that's clear, because I just finished reading the reviews, this game is ok. They did a great job with the graphics, but I do agree that this game needs more cars, even if their unlockable. And they should be unlockable because the game's name is F355 Challenge. The 5 extra courses are fun and a change in graphics, and there is even a downhill in one of them. You know what I love to do in this game? I like to put the course on that circular one, turn around, and drive the reverse way in race mode and crash into the cars. That'll teach 'em to stop winning! Cones are fun to hit in this game. I wish there was some sort of damage to your car if you kept crashing. The cars are not made of gold. And I hate it when the car goes into the grass bacause it's so hard to get out. It takes forever! So, for all you simulation experted, tasteless car racing fans out there, this game is for you. ... Editorial Review

A first-person shooter/strategy game based on a Japaneseanimation series, Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise from the Ashes isstrictly "fan fare." Set around the time of the original Mobile SuitGundam cartoons, the war-story plot here is from the grunt'sperspective, with players cast as the leader of a combat unit of MobileSuits (think giant robots). Gameplay is broken down into missions inwhich players command their own Mobile Suit as well as issue orders tocomrades.

Although recent Gundam converts may be less than thrilled withthe old-school looks (circa 1978) of the Mobile Suits in Gundam SideStory 0079, the 3-D graphics and animation of the Mobile Suits areincredibly faithful to the cartoons, as are the sound effects. On theother hand, the experience of piloting a Mobile Suit leaves much to bedesired, as it's not nearly as graceful as it looks in the cartoons, and feels more like you're piloting a tank. The controls here areoversimplified, and the first-person cockpit-view perspective is aboutas effective as a peephole in combat situations.

While Gundam Side Story 0079 is the first Gundam title tobe released in the United States, it comes from a line of officiallylicensed titles that have always had a spotty history, one which thistitle simply doesn't rise above. --Joe Hon

Pros:

  • Excellent Mobile Suit 3-D graphics and animation
  • Sound effects faithful to the cartoons
Cons:
  • Oversimplified controls; clunky combat
  • Short game length

4-0 out of 5 stars Gundam games at their best.
This a truly fun game. Short, but amazingly fun.

Graphics: 9/10
Great graphics add to the fun of this game. The mobile suits (giant robots) are very detailed and cool looking. The enviroment isn't the best but are better than your average game.

Gameplay: 9/10
FUN!! You have 4 Moblie souts to choose from. Each with it's weapons. Then you go duke it out with your foe! First gun! Then come in with the swords! The sword fighting makes you feel like your actually in the mobile suit!

Replay Value: 5/10
Too short.A great game and all but just to short. The first time you play is grand, but.... after that it's pretty much just a game in your library.Multiplayer and other modes would make it better.

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect game!
I am a big fan of Gundam and I think this game captures the cartoon into a great game. I think that the graphics are great. I love the sound and the game feels like you are in a real gundam. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was because the game is only 9 levels. If you are a fan of Gundam you will LOVE this game!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible
What can I say? This is simply one of the best games ever released for any system, (yes, I'm including PS2 and X-Box) it doesn't quite hit Sonic Adventures' gameplay, it is still superb.Controls will have you a little frantic when you first try them out, but you'll soon be manipulating them like a pro.Your standard mission would be dropping out of an aircraft, locating an enemy mobile suit, boosting over to him and firing your main machine-gun.When you close in, your beam saber pops up and it becomes a furious hand-to-hand battle.Swords probably do the most damage. But during the sword fights, is where the game really shines. After blowing up the enemy (and i mean BLOW.They are really BIG explosions) you have won.Oh yeah, this game isn't half as easy as it sounds. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars This game...
If you think you will like this game because someone told you it was good, then your wrong.I have a lot of games and this one is the worst. It is impossible to get a minute into the game without dieing.I hate it.It isn't fun and has bad graphocs.Don't waste your money or time.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not very refined, but OK if you can forgive its shortcomings
This game is nowhere near the level of polish seen in HOTD2 or Confidential Mission. The story makes no sense, the graphics are decidely first-generation DC, many of the sound affects are downright laughable, and the localization is horrible. However, since light gun games aren't exactly epic tapestries of plot, this game is pretty fun if you can ignore its faults. There are several different kinds of enemies, some average, some actually pretty cool.At six stages, it's about twice as long as CM, and much more challenging, since enemies usually require more than one hit to die.You definetly need a gun to play this game right, because control on the controller is far from refined. So if your itching to use you light gun on something new, check this out.But whatever you do, just don't pay full price for it! ...
