Very simply, this is a fairly impressive-looking PC-based graphics demo in which you simply fly around, auto-targeting and killing enemy ships with minimal skill. That's it.There is a badly read mission background before starting, which uses the in-game graphics to show the ships you'll momentarily defeat. The graphics are in general nice as stated, but even this gloss disappears quickly. For instance, it becomes quickly evident that the background which dominates your view appears to be a 256-color bitmap, with easily discernible banding. This game represents everything that can go wrong with emphasizing graphics over gameplay.

Editorial Review 102 Dalmatians: Puppies to the Rescue is a 3-D adventure in which you play as either Oddball or Domino and rescue puppies from Cruella De Vil. Other characters from Disney's 102 Dalmatians movie include Dipstick, Dottie, LePelt, Waddlesworth, and Fluffy. There are 20 levels and six minigames that are set in environments like Big Ben, Regent's Park, Piccadilly Circus, the Ice Festival, and De Vil Manor. Players will solve puzzles, perform tricks, and lure Cruella's henchmen--Horace and Jasper--into secret traps. The game stars Frankie Muniz as the voice of Domino. ... Read more Reviews (4)
Now that I'm mentioning ages, my wife (age 38) also loves the game, and she's downstairs playing the game now that the kids are asleep. So there is some substance here for older players as well. The game's theme is to rescue dalmation puppies from Crella DeVille. You move the puppy with either the joystick or rocker-switch over about a dozen scenes rescuing trapped puppies. You can switch between 2 puppies, but there is no real difference between the puppies. The puppy can also dig, jump, bark, and sniff, which help it complete it's task. As you finish levels, additional "mini-games" become available -- mini-golf, etc -- and stickers become available for printing. The levels come in groups of 4 it seems. On one of the levels in each group the puppy has an opponent that must be avoided. And every 4 levels there is a special "Cruella" game. So the game is simple and appealing enough for kids from 4 to 40....thus the 5 stars.
Probably a good buy if your kids are into Disney. ... Read more Subjects: 1. Video Games

c- ya! buy it!plus, there are a lot of cheats for it! c-ya again!
I didn't get very far before feeling like the controls were impossible to get down. For instance, there is this stage where you hit these bags of flour. Some are raised above the floor, while other sit on the floor.Trying to jump and hit the bags was difficult. There didn't seem to be a rhythm with which to jump and punch.running, jumping and punching was even more difficult.Sometimes I got it, most times I didn't.I put the game down after an hour of that (c'mon, how hard should it really be just to jump and punch a bag?). Seeing the high ratings of others puts the idea of playing back in my head.Perhaps, I'll get back to it. I gave it three stars because of the aforementioned reasons but the game did show some promise.Maybe I just stink at video games in my old age. =)

Editorial Review Sega's Virtua Striker was supposed to be the Dreamcast'sfirst great soccer game, but as it turns out, Striker Pro 2000outplays the opposition with lively on-field action and a wealth ofoptions to boot. Striker Pro will wow soccer fans with 130 teams from the bestEuropean leagues as well as from all over the world. There are threelevels of competition from national to international cup play, whichcan be unlocked once players prove in their worth in training mode. Striker Pro scores early with its options, letting playersadjust weather conditions, injury time, and penalty settings as well astoggle between the analog and digital control pads. Speed anddifficulty can also be bumped up to taste. On the field, teams play up,back, or somewhere in the middle, with the score often determining ateam's formation. Animations and graphics are Dreamcast quality, andthe control is intuitive. In fact, we'll go so far as to say thatStriker Pro 2000 is the most perfect soccer video game thatwe've played thus far. --Robb Guido Pros:

Once I got the game I was amazed by the realistic gameplay, graphics and the little things that make soccer so much fun. When you first get this game there are about 25 or so European teams you can choose from including Manchester, Muchen, Monaco and many others. There are also 72 international teams including Brazil, USA, Germany, France, and Argentina that you have to ulock by completing all of five of the challenging practice stages. You can also create up to eight teams and create players to up-date the teams. There are a few things that are flawed in this game. The announcers are good but their intro to the game is always the same and they aren't very interesting. Also the goalies are very dumb and you can easily score 3 or 4 goals each game. Overall this is by far the best soccer game on the Dreamcast. I highly recommend this game for soccer fans around the world. ... Read more Subjects: 1. Video Games

Editorial Review Bust-A-Move 4 proves that Dreamcast games don't necessarily needflashy graphics to be fun. This puzzle game has been around in one form oranother for years, and still offers enough charm and gameplay to deserve a spoton the shelf of any fan of the genre. This incarnation adds a mixed bag of newfeatures and enough play modes to keep you busy for a few weeks. Gameplay is simple. The play area contains balls of various colors, and playerscontrol a cannon at the bottom of the screen that shoots one colored ball at atime. The cannon is immobile, but can be aimed left or right, and launched ballsstick to those that are already on the playing field. If three or more balls ofthe same color are touching, they are cleared from the board. These simple rulesoffer more strategic possibilities than you'd think, and the fact that perfectaim is required to place the cannon shots where they're needed adds to thefrantic action that ensues each time a game is started. Bust-A-Move 4 incorporates a new combo system that makes spectacularboard-clearing shots possible, but also decreases the difficulty of the gamesignificantly because the combos happen far too often. The game is still fun intwo-player mode, but the developers oddly left out the superior four-playerabilities for which this game is famous. Still, with hundreds of puzzles tosolve, arcade-perfect graphics (which isn't saying much), and a decenttwo-player mode, Bust-A-Move 4 serves up plenty of entertainment value.--T. Byrl Baker Pros:

Editorial Review Sega has had great success with its previous sports titles for theDreamcast, so everyone was waiting for them to hit one out of the park with therelease of World Series Baseball 2K1. In many ways they have, but thegame suffers from enough bugs and has so few options that true baseball fanswill be crying foul. Stadiums and players are rendered in glorious high-resolution detail, to thepoint where it's easy to recognize a player by looking at his face. Similarly, most of the animations look terrific--especially diving catches and quickacross-the-body throws. We also enjoyed the pitching and batting interface, which is more complex than that found in most baseball games but becomes a lotof fun after a little practice. Unfortunately, the game is all downhill from there. Once a ball is hit, playersare forced to sit and watch the computer field it. The lack of control isabsolutely infuriating, especially since Sega hyped this game's realism from thebeginning of its development. The crowd sounds are anemic and there is no colorcommentary, which is just as well considering how terrible the play-by-playannouncer is. If you really love baseball, you'll really hate World SeriesBaseball 2K1. For casual fans who prefer flashy graphics and a funpitching/batting contest to thorough stat tracking and the ability to field theball, this game is a home run. --T. Byrl Baker Pros:

At the end of the game, it tells you the winner, the loser, if there was a save & the homeruns.NO BOXSCORE!!!???I don't know about the majority but I like to base my players starting status on two things.1. Reality (the correct rosters) 2. Game to game statistics. If a player is slacking you have no way of knowing. You can't check in the middle of the game to see what the player is batting on the game. And if you want to change pitchers, you must also call it blind, as they provide no information as to what your players' ERAs might be.Usually games will tell you when a player steps up to bat, how they have faired in that particular game, along with season stats. Here they only provide season stats.I would like a 1-1 today, 2 for 3, etc. This game is not fun.I gave it 2 stars because it looks good.Don't bother buying this game.It will only frustrate you, unless you care nothing for real game play. ... Editorial Review Re-Volt is a remote-control car "simulator" that combinesa convincing physics model with arcade elements to create one of thebetter racing games for the Dreamcast. Control with the analog pad is a little touchy, so we usually ended upsteering with the digital pad. Re-Volt takes full advantage ofthe Dreamcast's analog triggers, allowing for fine control over forwardand reverse speeds. The cars react to the tracks just like theirreal-life remote control counterparts do: flipping off curbs, absorbingsuspension-jarring jumps, and bouncing off competing cars. The tracksare also realistic, letting players race through grocery stores, museums, neighborhoods, and the like. Acclaim even threw in a trackeditor so intrepid racers can design their own courses. Don't think that you can outrace the competition by simply droningaround the track. Winning requires a combination of driving skill and amastery of the game's myriad weapons, including oil slicks, bombs, bottle rockets, and water balloons. The weapon effects do much toenhance the game's graphical appeal, which is immense to begin with.--T. Byrl Baker Pros:

The 3-D perspective was poorly handled by the game engine. It is virtually impossible to walk a straight line regardless of the camera style you pick. Just about every jump has to be this ridiculous double wing jump.Precise moves are crucial to complete the tedious missions that even level 1 presented, and as an adult veteran of Tombraider and Spiderman, the controls for this game just made me mad. You spend all your time trying get the right position and failing to land in the right spot. How they could make a game obviously targeted a younger gamers so bloody hard to navigate is a mystery. Envision your child controlling Buzz on a ceiling beam, trying desparately to make him walk a simple straight line, and slumping in frustration when he falls for the umpteenth time. My son loved Spiderman on the Dreamcast, and I was trying to find something similar but less mature. Toy Story 2 was horrible by comparison.Never bought a more frustrating Dreamcast game )except for maybe Qbert). Very disapointing.DO NOT BUY THIS GAME even for 5 bucks.

Gameplay: Simple controlling Press X to drill and use the D-pad to move....thats all. ***** Freedom: There's not that much freedom in this game at all, but there are many modes of play to make up for that. *** Modes: There are many modes of play like: Arcade, time attack and survival and more! ***** Music: The music of this game is pretty good, The are good tunes that remind you of the days when gaming was non violant and fun. ***** Graphics: Not the best of looks they're preetty damb good! Rich and colorful! It really makes the what it is! ***** Overall: Simple, packed full of modes, full of pretty tunes and good colorful graphics is what this game is. Very addictive too! A must have for most people for don't mind a break from action and violance for a bit of action-filled puzzles. My Rating: 10/10
My wife, who hates video games (but was a huge fan of Dig Dug and Tetris), watched me play one round and said "let me try that." Three games later, *I* finally got the controller back ;-), and after I dialed down the difficulty settings for us newbies, we were *both* hooked. The game is simple (watching someone play one round is all you need to do to learn how to play the game), yet it is somehow not tedious. The only downside is that it is a one-player game only -- you can't play head-to-head.

Editorial Review Fans of the old arcade hit Smash TV will most likely enjoy Expendable. The rest of us may want to look elsewhere. While the game boasts impressive graphics and really shows off the lighting and color abilities of the Dreamcast, repetitive single-player gameplay quickly leads to boredom. You control an expendable clone soldier from a third-person perspective. The game is divided into missions, each mission having roughly the same goal: blow everything up and run to the end as fast as possible. Along the way, you fight hordes of mindless aliens, rescue hostages, and play with your choice of 18 powerful weapons. If you have an additional controller, a friend can join in the mayhem. The game saves your progress with the optional Visual Memory Unit and also makes use of the optional Jump Pack, which vibrates to indicate hits and explosions. While Expendable won't win any awards for creativity, depth, or longevity, sometimes you just want to team up with a buddy and kick alien butt. For those times, Expendable does just fine. --Michael Fehlauer Pros:

Editorial Review Battle a group of terrorist robots as one of seven characters from popular Capcom games, like Mega Man and Cammy. Other familiar characters include Charlie from Street Fighter, Arthur from Ghosts 'n' Goblins, and B.B. Hood from the DarkStalkers series. New characters include Shiva, an ex-snowboarding champion, and Simone, a fencing champion. The action-shooter gameplay contains both shooting and hand-to-hand combat, and features an isometric view. The arenas are very small, and there are only about 8 stages. AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO SKILL INVOLVED. It's kind of fun to blow up buildings when you miss, which might happen a lot unless you're using weapons that lock onto their targets. The graphics are nice, including having your armor fall off as you take damage. Sound isn't too annoying. The stages are sort of short (3 screens of underlings prior to the boss), and I've found the controls to be more difficult to handle than the enemies. One of the selectable characters does not have lock-on weapons, and I've not yet used him since my accuracy rate is low still. This might be more fun with a second player; I'll find out this weekend. Definitely worth playing once or twice, so rent it first if possible. ... Read more Subjects: 1. Video Games

One of them complains that "the game would be better if the fights lasted longer than thirty seconds..." For anyone who watches UFC they would know that a lot of fights do last only thirty seconds...just yesterday I watched a bout where [this guy] took a guy to the ground and elbowed him in the head six or seven times. That bout was over in about 15 seconds. UFC isn't trying to be Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. It's focus is on realism, and if you drop someone on their head ten seconds into the fight it will knock them out. Besides, if you practice a lot and fight someone of equal skill it won't be over in thirty seconds...not by a long shot. Anyway, the graphics are spectacular and I liked how Crave didn't skimp on the details. For example, the referee actually stays in the ring and is just as detailed as the fighters. The control scheme is simple to memorize and the moves aren't impossible to pull off like in many other fighting games. Their are counters and moves aplenty. I enjoyed the carreer mode as well. It features fighters with tons of fighting styles that you can train and put up against your friends or the Computer. Crave made so that if you want good fighter you have to train train train, and it doesn't happen in a day. Infact, I spent about two months leveling up my best fighter and now I dominate the Octagon. This is also realistic, UFC fighters go through a lot of training and conditioning in order to fight just one time. This is a spectacular game... There is nothing more satisfying, for example, than beating Tito Ortiz for the gold title with a character that you created and trained...wow.

Evolution adds a few new characters and for the most part, they're not lame. The new characters are yet another welcome relief from the same old characters you're used to seeing year after year. However, one of the most important things they seemed to have fixed is the controls. Evolution feels far more responsive than Dream Match '99 and moves are easier to pull off. While Evolution doesn't move like Street Fighter III: Third Strike, it's a vast improvement over the stiff as a board control of DM '99. Overall, a good game that might mark the end of another SNK franchise.
Very much worth it, in fact. The PSX version has a couple of non-gameplay extras, such as a nice art/sketches section that DC does not.But the game itself is far better on DC.Get this, the backgrounds on the DC are FULL 3D and often quite arresting. The PSX version uses static backgrounds based on those 3D backgrounds.BIG difference! Also, sound samples and music are crystal clear here, muffled on PSX.Control is better. Then there are many Extra support characters to "buy" in this version, and two nice Survival/Time Trial modes. And I don't have enough time to extrapolate on the great fighting system, numerous endings (ranging from humourous to somewhat serious). Fighting fans really shouldn't pass this up, and must pass on the bargain PSX version. The difference is surprising. ... Read more Subjects: 1. Video Games
