3-0 out of 5 stars Not Sonic, Not Crash Bandicoot
This game is nothing like a Sonic or Crash game. For one Sonic is face past, this Kangaroo walks slower than you can believe, thats where I just couldn't take it, I was doing all I can to make Kao go faster but he can't, it just gets downright annoying. The graphics are pretty much average, bonk a couple of enemies, collect coins, the creators of this probably thought that this would be the next thing to Mario, but in fact it was the last. Scoot this over to your little brother or sister, but I would not say this is something I wan't to play for any period of time!

4-0 out of 5 stars Kao the Kangaroo is a neat and funny game
Kao the kangaroo is a really neat game, but it has good and bad points.the bad things are that the levels are WAY to short. it only usuallly takes a few minutes to get past one, until you get into world 3.there are 25 levels and eventually, they get hard.a big problem is the third boss, Zeus.there's a really bad strategy to beat him.you will work forever on that unless you search the web for the answer. It's funny because there are little eskimos chasing you and snowmen whacking you, etc....Some good things are that you get to ride space scooters, ride snowboards, ride a boat, use a hang glider, and play with other fun vehicles.I give this game a 97% for very fun gameplay, cool use of vehicles, and cute graphics, but way too short levels.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and addictive
This game is quite underrated. It is very fun, with 30 levels set across many different landscapes. The 3D graphics are excellent and you may enjoy it if you like Crash Bandicoot, Sonic...etc. It's not identical to these games but the gameplay is similar as you are control of a character who you take on a journey through 3D worlds.
There is a wide range of characters and levels, and it's not just the usual "run around killing enemies" scenario. You also get to go in a speed boat, go snowboarding and a space ship too. The landscapes are very detailed and the levels are set in a variety of areas. Overall, a great game well worth checking out. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I kinda want to repudiate the first Star Review...
I respect the opinion of my fellow player and reviewer. However, he has made, what I feel, is a major mistake in opinion. He points out in the lower cons section that the characters are one dimensional and cliched.I need to say...WELL YAH!!!!

Tech Romancer is for that poor sad fool in us all that can't get enough giant robots crushing everything that moves and beating the stuffing out of each other. And while I am not totally litterate in the whole Giant Robot fighting game genre, I know a good fighting game from another.Tech Romancer is a good fighting game.

With twelve robots to choose from, including hidden mecha, Tech Romancer promises to have something for every one. Each mech is a un-embarrased rip off of some mech Anime, from Evangelion to Battletech. Each is also fully fleshed out, with the Macross esque robot having three forms and the Evangelion Angel boss having cross topped attacks. The weapons each brings to bear are also wonderfully stolen, like the Gundam flying drones. Its brutally fun to use the "mech" from your favorite anime to smash everything.

There is a lot to say about the fighting style and various modes but the Editor Review manages to cover most of it.I just really want to speak about the Story mode which my fellow reviewer found so poor.Yah...its campy. And yah, the cliches are so thick, you could cut them with a knife. But that is the point. The Macross style story line has the awesome pilot falling in love with the enemy, remenicent of Max and Miriya in the Series. And the Gundam style storyline is just as recognizable. The game producers were not trying to make some new world of anime, they were using everyone elses.Thats what makes it great. You get to play the stories. They ain't perfect, but its pretty fun in and of itself.

4-0 out of 5 stars An underrated title...
Tech Romancer is one of those games that doesn't break any new ground, but expands upon ground already broken by other mecha games. First, come expecting a fighting game. That's what you're gonna get, and that in spades.

Now, onto the actual review. What makes Tech Romancer so fun is the way it integrates elements from classic japanese mecha series with it's intriguing anime style and 3-D fights. From the transforming fighter jet to the overly cute, simplistic little girl mecha design, everything in this is classic.

Now I'll ist some of the Pros and Cons on a technical level:

Pros:

* The battle scenes take place in 3-D environments, giving them a new level on intensity. Also, attacks are creative.

* The Robot designs are unique and well-designed.

* There is a myriad of different extras to be unlocked by collecting points from the game.

* This game has a great replay value if you enjoy this type of stuff.

Cons:

* As I said, this is a pure fighting game. The backstories of the characters are poorly-written and were created only to advance the battle sequences.

* Characters are 1-D and contain cliche personalities, with no minds of their own.

* The soundtrack contains only typical action anime/game music, giving it no real edge.

If you like fighting games with lots of extras, I highly recommend this. ^^ If you're looking for a compelling game, then forget about it.

4-0 out of 5 stars More than solid Capcom fighter worth checking out
Tech Romancer is one of the most forgotten games for the Dreamcast, but it still holds up well, and for a game with giant mechs, it sure beats that other mech game for the DC: Virtual On.The fighting system is ultimately complex yet it is so simple to get into and pull off a bevy of moves on your opponent. However, while that is a good point, the controls themselves are so simply put together you can just button mash your way through the game most of the time. The graphics are lackluster for the most part, they look like pixelated PS1 graphics and really don't push the Dreamcast to it's limits, but all that aside Tech Romancer is still a very fun fighter that is easy to get into and doesn't require as much thought as Soul Calibur or Dead or Alive 2. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best on Dreamcast
If it wasn't for this game, I would have sold my Dreamcast years ago.

5-0 out of 5 stars All Hail the Worms
Newcomers and fans of Worms alike will enjoy this game.Worms World Party offers everything a gamer wants. The point of the game is to destroy enemy worms, or collect certain objects, or a combination of both.It might sound simple, but there is a great deal of strategy involved. The one player mode offers a large variety of play, and will keep even the best gamers busy for quite a while. Also, Worms World Party is one of the best multiplayer games out there. It only takes 49 blocks on your VMU, and it's Jump Pack compatible.Selling for around 20 dollars, there's absolutely no reason not to pick up this game.If you're a Worms fan, Worms World Party won't dissapoint you.If you've never played a Worms game, you don't know what you're missing out on.Buy Worms World Party. You won't regret it.

5-0 out of 5 stars hu?
this game looked cool when i got it but it didnt work

5 stars estimate for a working one

4-0 out of 5 stars it's not as bad as everyone says it is---...
i've read at least 10 reviews of [Industrial Spy], and every single one of those authors did NOT enjoy this game at all. This fact made me very reluctant to play the game, but since I'd already bought it - i thought i might as well try it.

It would be an understatement to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this game!! ^^ It was very mind-challenging (although sometime a bit too tedious) and had excellent character designs. Unlike many other games I've played, this one actually made me think. hard. ^0^~ Gameplay is easy and quickly understood, and it is quite interactive. :)

the cons of this game are the poor sound/background effects. Although the character designs are gorgeous, the same thing cannot be said for the 3-dimensional figures: they really could have added more detail and been more careful with the body shapes.
Sometimes, it is hard to control the characters; for instance - if 2 characters collided into eachother, and they would continue "running" into each other, as in LITERALLY running..`` ^^`. You would have to waste a few precious minutes (each game has time limits), trying to get them back on target. (did this example make sense...``??)

overall, i think the plot and style of the game really outshone everything else. I probably won't ever want to play the game again, but it was a LOT of fun while it lasted. ^^

1-0 out of 5 stars This game is SO BAD!
This game can be described in one word: CRUD. Its a totalWASTE of good graphics. The storyline is bad. The game play is bad. You have no direct control of ANY characters. Some characters are little kids with NO fighting skill and if they get caught they die in like, 2 seconds. And ineverything else: the game is STILL BAD! The game is notworth a buy, its not even worth the 1 star that I gave it but thats the lowest I could rate it.... ... Read more

Editorial Review

NBA Hoopz is strictly for the basketball fan who thinks the sport is all about spectacular dunks, lots of shoving, and little or no strategy. With the goofy gameplay and hyper-exaggerated NBA player renderings, b-ball purists probably will (and should) dismiss this as the dumbest of arcade games.

Hoopz is basically the latest generation of basketball games in the ultra-arcadey NBA Showtime or NBA Jam vein and has little in common with the more accurate NBA simulations out there. In most respects it plays slightly better than the older arcade-style titles, if only because Hoopz is a three-on-three game.

Most gamers will immediately notice the enlarged heads and huge biceps on even the lankiest of NBA players. Also, the fast-paced action basically centers on hurling the ball around the court as quickly as possible without any regard for complicated play calling. In fact, most ballers can easily jump 25 feet above the rim for ridiculous, death-defying dunks that, of course, deliver the ultimate in sports fantasy.

Unlike most of the 2001 season of "real" basketball games for the system, Hoopz stretches gameplay with a few mini games. Included are variants on 21, Around the World, Three-Point Contest, and even the old-school 2Ball that features two-on-two team play. There are also unlockable courts for you to find. You can also easily create your own players and cause havoc throughout the NBA with wild league trades and customizations.

While the courts and backgrounds are decently drawn, the player models are disappointingly blocky and fail to capitalize on the system's power. Hoopz gives players a backward walk and the give-and-go, among other moves, but the game's emphasis on shoving, steals, and strategy-defying action confounds these nuances. --Mark Brooks--This text refers to the PlayStation2 version of the game.

Pros:

  • Very easy to play
  • Mini games and unlockable courts
  • Strictly for basketball neophytes

Cons:

  • Cartoony player graphics are uninspired
  • Little to no strategy required, which kills off longevity
  • Possibly too silly for its own good

1-0 out of 5 stars Why is there no minus feature to rate games like this
NBA Hoopz was the first game I played as I purchased my Dreamcast and I must say the excitement I felt for playing this game vanished after a few days. I am a MEGA HUGE NBA JAM FAN and I thought that this incarnitation on the series would be the bomb but it just bombed!! When Shaq or Karl Malone become 3 point threats late in the fourth then you know that the game is crap and DOES NOT FOLLOW STATS. Why put stats in the game if EVERYBODY can dunk and run up court dribbling the ball behind their back. NBA Hoopz is rediculious. This game has the poorest graphics of all incarnitarions to date even the SNES versions seem better than this crap! Players look terrible in game and worse in replay! The game is also missing the magic and fun of any other NBA Jam games, Midway has no excuse for producing this mess. The 3 on 3 was anice idea but POOORLY implemented as the 3rd player just becomes a useless object on the court. This game could have included some strategy to take advantage of the 3rd man but it does not! The sound and commentary are poor as the anouncer incorrectly calls a LOT of plays, he hails a block when it has obviously scored etc. If this is better than NBA Showtime then I am affraid to even look at that because I never thought that any NBA game could be this BAD. I MEAN BAD!!!!

Stick to NBA 2K2 which is MAD and leave this as a distant memory!

2-0 out of 5 stars Almost as bad as NBA on NBC...
...which happens to have only 2on2 games and no mini games. But the gameplay of Hoopz is okay, being too easy to score. Plus, the graphics stink. The only fun things from the minigames is the 21 (rough house) and the 3 point shootout. In the gameplay, unrealistic dunk after dunk happens and makes the game boring. Plus they have customize an already playing plaer, which is just plain stupid. So don't get this or NBA on NBC. Get NBA 2k1 instead and enjoy REAL basketball!

2-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but poor in quality
I usually don't participate in these things, but I felt so strongly in voicing my opinion.

I was excited when I was on my way home after I purchased NBA Hoopz for my Sega Dreamcast.I was a big fan of NBA Jam during my high school and college years, but I was quite disappointed once I began to play Hoopz.

Although Hoopz continues the Midway Sports tradition of no rules-parody sports, I was disappointed that they included foul limits (five per quarter) in this version. One of the best features of NBA Jam or NFL Blitz is that you can do anything to your opponent (shove, clothesline, drop-kick) and get away with it.

The audio for Hoopz often causes me to scratch my head. Why do I, as the home team, get booed from the home croud whenever I start getting a hot streak or if I foul an opposing player? I often find my home fans cheering for the other team. The announcers often yell 'rejected' or 'get that shot out of here' even though the ball goes in. I can't help but to laugh when I hear the announcers butcher Peja Stojakovic's last name or when he calls a play wrong.

The best thing about this game however, is the fact that it is the closest thing to a modern day NBA Jam.It's a faster paced game than the 'reality based' basketball games which keep me from getting bored. If the minor glitches can get fixed by the time NBA Hoopz 2K2 comes out, I'll be the first one in line to get it. ... Read more

166. King of Fighters Dream Match '99

Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Editorial Review

King of Fighters Dream Match 1999 arrives on the Dreamcast packed with lots of cool features and is complemented by engaging play. Right from the start of the game you have access to 38 playable characters. This total goes up to a whopping 51 when you include all of the different costume variations. And since the KOF DM99 roster consists of characters from all over the SNK universe, each combatant has a unique fighting style and appearance.

The fighting system is based around "special" and "super special" moves. In a nutshell, you execute a preset number of special moves in order to unleash the fierce power of super specials. This intelligible combination system adds a level of strategy; for a fighting game, KOF DM99 has plenty of gameplay depth. Complementing the rich fighting system are several play modes including one-on-one fight, two-player versus mode, team battle, survival, and a standard practice mode. As 3-D fighters invade video gaming, 2-D brawlers are becoming passé, but most old-school fighting fans will want to give King of Fighters Dream Match 1999 a close look. --Sajed Ahmed

Pros:

  • Brilliantly designed fighters, with a realistic, yet unique, look
  • Can connect with a NEOGEO Console also running KOF DM99
  • Electrifying opening sequence
  • Abundance of special moves and combinations gives the gameplay a high learning curve
Cons:
  • Soundtrack is mostly bland, with only a few memorable tunes
  • Despite being polygonal, the game's backgrounds look dated

5-0 out of 5 stars My Fav. Fighter to date
this was the first game I bought after I got a DC for Xmas and from the moment I plugged in to the day I sold my DC, KOF DM'99 will remain the top fighting game to me.This game was complex and deep yet so easy and so fun to play. This game is best enjoyed if you have the original DC arcade stick.May not be as flashy as capcom but the gameplay and strategy elements most definately make up for it.I only hope that SNK revives or keeps the KOF series alive on the current and future generation consoles

4-0 out of 5 stars Could've been better
Five yrs ago, the toughest SNK superstars faced off in tag-team action in the excellent arcade game KOF 94. Now the series is back, but it hasn't learned anything new. The KOF:DM99(man that's a long title!)chugs away withtired fighting mechanics and subpar graphics. King features characters from Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting. The fights are fun, but you still can't change characters during a match. Technically King's loaded with deficencies, most notably choppy, slowdown-filled 2D sprite graphics. For a part of an essentially 16 bit game to a 128 bit system, these flaws are inexcuseable and baffling. It's nice that the DC isn't limiting itself to polygon-only 3D fighting titles. But compared to Marvel vs. Capcom, Dream is a nightmare.

5-0 out of 5 stars It is worth your money
This game rules although is only a 16-bit game. The best way to play this game is by using the arcade stick. Using the regular DC controller can be very difficult, especially when doing the special moves. If you are a SNK freak then this is a must have for your collection, but if you are not an SNK fan then give it a try. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars AWSOME GAME
this game is just downright FUN! You will never get bored blasting things over, and over again!

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent Psikyo game with Camcom characters
This game is obviously from famous shooter developer, PSIKYO, with Capcom characters. I always liked Psikyo games, especially 1945 series, with its challenging game play with Psikyo trade mark game formula along with vibrant graphic.

The most absurd thing about any shooter game, if I have to point out, is infinite continues. What's the point of playing a well made game in one seating? However, this game does offer controlled infinite continues. From level 5, you will have to start from the start of the level you died from, not from the spot you died at. However, it can be manipulated if you are playing with a friend, and as long as one is on the screen, the other player can continue (now,,that's a cheating). Graphic seems decent throughout the game, but it seems somewhat outdated with cartoonish characters.

The only complain I have is that certain enemy attacks are not there to test your reflex but rather too overwhelming. Yes, it's possible to finish the game with one continue, but it's REALLY hard to pull that off (and knowing what 'spot' at when becomes crucial). I would prefer limited continue system over controlled continue system like this game. However, owning this arcade perfect shooter and another Psikyo game with this admission is well worth your money. Where shooters are being way under-rated, this game does hold its own place with good qualities. Give it a try =)

2-0 out of 5 stars Boring
I love old style 2D shooters but this one is just dull. The graphics are nice (2D) and for about 5 minutes I -almost- had fun, but then I didn't want to play it anymore. I can't quite put my finger on why this game fails but suffice it to say that it's nothing memorable. Reccommended only for people who are absolutely starving for 2D shoot-em-up action. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Railroad tycoonist review
Rail Road Tycoon is an excellent game. The graphics were very good and also the game is very realistic. In the game you build ,trains,Hotels and etc to occumponey you different Stations you also deal with the stock marcket the more stocks you buy of course the more it's worth. There are many cities to connect with and you have to haul cargo that is in demanded. I give this game a 5 because it has good graphics excellent game play, Holds your intrest for a very long time and and I believe follows history perfectly

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Concept but, falls short.
I was excited about getting this game when I 1st heard
it was coming to the Dreamcast, I loved the demo from
the now defunct Official Dreamcast magazine, The demo
did lock up and when you had over 24 trains running at
once it would be unbearable to play, it would slow
down to a snails pace and the cursor would become slow
, I thought this was just happening in the demo version
and they would fix this when the full game was released
The did not... Another complaint is that I wanted to
see more detail in the trains and all the buildings also
I hate it when a train breaks down when its not at a
it takes months for the train to get off the track and
disappear, This game can be information overload at
Connecting Farms, dairy Farms Coal Mines, Iron Mines
with bakery's milk processing plants, Whenever you
start a new game the coal mines and iron mines are never
in the same place, they are frequently very far away from
the steel plant. Thats another reason why this game
isn't that good, you can still win without that stuff
, I was hoping for the game to be reflective of the current
events in World History, Like during World War 1&2
I wanted to see the railroads get bombed. But that didn't happen. Oh Well, if the game didn't have terrible slowdown
when you have to many trains and stations this game
would have been better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent game
This is on of the best games avalible on the Dreamcast. What it lacks in graphics it more than makes up for in gameplay and replay ability. If it were possible though I would only give this game four and half stars as online play was pulled at the last second. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It can be best described as Tomb Raider...with fun and style
Prince of Persia: Arabian Nights is a great game for the Dreamcast! The game reminds me of Tomb Raider (which sucked) but has a lot more to offer...a lot more.

The game is a game designed for "the thinking gamer." Thats right, if you're one of those that get headaches from thinking while playing games then pass this one up. The game is loaded with action but you'll have to use your brain to discover what to do. I can't tell you how much fun and challenging this is.

The only downfall is that when you discover what to do it will no longer be challenging after you beat the game.

The graphics are decent and you do get the Arabian atmosphere when you play. This is a game for the gamer that wants a true challenge. If you're not into thinking then you can pass this one up.

1-0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE-BORING!
prince of persia has some of the worst graphics ive seen on DC. Every room in the game is almost exactly the same thing. there is no action. you walk around and try to get to the next room. Try buying Skies of Arcadia(best game ever), sonic or anything other than this.

5-0 out of 5 stars WAY FUN!
If you've played any of the PofP games, this one is outstanding, the best!Be prepared to use thinking and obversation skills, this is not just a game of sword fighting.Oh yes, there is sword fighting, but I consider that secondary to the main game which is to navigate through the levels avoiding the endless booby-traps and trying to figure out how to get from one place to the other and using the objects you find.Music is very good, matched perfectly with the events in progress.I crave this game and hope more are on the way. But, not everything is perfect, you can only save at save points and the sword fighting is a bit clumsy although you can get used to it. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful for non-action gamers
I really enjoy this game, but I'm one that doesn't like constant fighting and blowing things up.The people are really weird looking (hardly any lips and they all look gaunt and ill from the beginning), but the scenery is breath-taking and storyline is fun.The game should be listed as errand-runner, not fighting/adventure, but it does take some intelligence to find what you need....I recommend this game if you want a relaxing, fun adventure. It does have some fighting and it takes a little bit to master it, but it is minimal compared to the dialogue and exploring. ... Editorial Review

What do you get when you move the over-the-top gameplay of thewater-based racer Hydro Thunder to gritty land-basedenvironments? 4 Wheel Thunder, of course. This pseudosequel is anice-looking game that manages to entertain despite its simplisticgameplay.

4 Wheel Thunder lets players race a variety of big-wheeled off-roadmonster cars and trucks across 24 tracks. The wide tracks arebrimming with shortcuts, so exploration is encouraged. We had topractice for hours to find the proper racing line, as the computeropponents are incredibly difficult to beat until you've won a few racesand upgraded your ride.

The graphics impressed us, as 4 Wheel Thunder has detailedvehicles that bounce through several well-rendered environments. Bestof all, the frame rate is absolutely smooth regardless of how manyobjects are onscreen. The only thing lacking is deep gameplay. All ofour time was spent picking up the speed-boost power-ups scatteredaround the track, which give a nice burst of speed for a few seconds.Unfortunately there are no other power-ups, weapons, or anything elseto spice up the racing, making the game more monotonous than it shouldbe. 4 Wheel Thunder is nowhere near as over the top as HydroThunder, but it's still a lot of fun as a pure racing game. --T.Byrl Baker

Pros:

  • Clean, detailed graphics that run at a smooth frame rate
  • Challenging gameplay
Cons:
  • Few power-ups mean the racing can get dull at times
  • Cheap computer opponents are frustrating until you can upgrade yourvehicle

4-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding fun, but too challenging?
I am looking forward to beating the second series in this game so I can get on to the third and have some more fun. This game is such an extreme fun arcade game. Be warned though that the simulation of any of the dirt cars/trucks are extremely tricky. The best part of the courses are to find shrtcuts, in which there are many of. And the courses are pretty long, too, except for the indoor courses, which [ are absolutely not good]. Jumping ramps, riding through water, passing others in a race, hitting a booster, and speein down a hill are just a few great sectacles during a race. Unfortnately, there are no codes to unlock all the courses, as I have checked for online. At first, you will not even come close to winning, but guaranteed, it'll be a fun race all the way.

2-0 out of 5 stars cool game
This game is for the hardcore extreme gamers. Unfortunently I am not one of them. This game is an arcade based with time limits, you also pretty much get first every time in order to move on. I dont know maybe some people like time limits but all my friends know, I DONT. Once I got bored with my other games I began to play it. I would of rated it better anyway if it wasent for one thing. It is very buggy. I would play and just about every race It seemed like the ground just dissappered to leave my truck/buggy to fall of the world to its doom. It some times freezes up in the begining where it says 3-2-1 and no GO.

4-0 out of 5 stars My kids love it.
You can race in lots of diffent ways.2 players too.

1-0 out of 5 stars WHY?????????
Why did they make this game?I got it because I thought the concept of racing in old cars would be cool, and it would, but not it this game.It takes three years to load, and the controls are horrible. It's also really boring because you're always way up front ahead of everyone.I regret buying this even though i only spent 10 dollars for it.I wouldn't even take it for free now.

1-0 out of 5 stars oh my god
This game shouldn't have been made it shows no sign of greatness on the speedometer says 214mph it feels like 35 mph. Going to school is more fun than this game.It shows no sign of speed and when you hit the wall back in those days there was fire when you hit the wall in this game you bounce off and nothing happens. Only fun factor is it's too easy you can win every time.other than that this game is just awful.

4-0 out of 5 stars A really fun game......once you get the hang of it!
Let me tell you that first off this is not a fast paced game like 4 Wheel Thunder. This is a game that is meant to simulate 1930's racing cars. The graphics are very realistic. You can have 5 or 6 different views when you are driving. The old time music is really unique, away from all that rock & roll of other games. You are able to go on 8 tracks, 12 different cars, chose diffuculty, and chose practice, quick race, championship, or time trials.

<<<<>>>>

The steering is pretty bad once you start, but once you play it for about a week you get the feel for it. There is also no brake button! You just have to let up on the gas. I don't know why it is like that. It also take a century to load! It does only take up 2 blocks of space.

<<<<>>>>

If you are thinking of buying it, ! This game is probably not a game you want to even spend $20 on. In my opinion, this is a fun rental game, but a "not-worth-it" type of game to buy. ... Read more

Similar to Syphon Filter for the PlayStation, FightingForce 2 puts players in the role of a cyber-enhanced cop of thefuture that is trained to infiltrate evil research and developmentfacilities, destroy their work, and clear out any and all opposition.

Fighting Force 2 has some of the biggest levels around, givingmain character Hawk Manson the opportunity to explore multiple floors, smash through walls, and break almost anything in search of keys to newareas. Levels are filled with enemies whom Hawk can defeat with one of20 weapons including rifles, knives, and sledgehammers. Weapons can beattained through the destruction of cabinets, soda machines, and crates.

Originally a PlayStation game, the transition to the Dreamcast hasn'texactly been a smooth one. Frankly, Fighting Force 2 has beentransformed from a good game into an average one due to this version'spoor player controls. Improved graphics are welcome, but now it's harderto position Hawk for a fight. The PlayStation version is definitely themore desirable of the two. --Robb Guido

  • Improved graphics over the PlayStation version

  • Mucky controls take away from what was a good game

2-0 out of 5 stars Good Idea, Very Flawed Game
To start off, I'll say the first Fighting Force is a decent beat 'em up game for PS and N64 and it was a fun game with a friend. But this FF is a different story.Eidos/Core tried to change FF into a more story oriented game and kind of mimic other games a bit with a mastermind one man army.So they threw away the idea of a team of a "Fighting Force" and along with it the fun co-op gameplay.

Fighting Force 2 has very good ideas, decent graphics on the DC version and an OK plot, but it suffers really bad on just about everything from bad controls, horrid sound, frustration, repetitiveness, unclear objectives and etc. These bad things will really tick you off and you may wanna smash your controller on the ground.

The concepts are cool though. You can use lots of cool weapons like in the original and you can smash everything, which is always a good thing in my book. But it gets repetitive and you'll grow tired halfway through the levels.

All in all. This game can be fun, but you may grow tired after ten minutes of playing it and it will tick you off quite a bit.If you like Eidos/Core stuff, you may enjoy this...a little bit.I did(a little bit).

Editorial Review

The official video game of the 2000 Olympics, Sydney 2000 borrowsheavily from the gameplay of the 1983 arcade classic Track and Field.Players "power" their virtual athletes by hammering on two buttons in analternating sequence as fast as possible, with the manipulation of a thirdbutton required at certain times to perform a particular action. Unfortunately, the novelty here wears off pretty darn quick, especially when using theDreamcast's standard controller, which is just barely adequate for such frenziedbutton mashing; you really need an arcade stick for this one.

While not all of Sydney 2000's 12 events use this tedious control system, the few that don't feature similarly shallow-as-a-puddle gameplay. What's worse,in order to make it to the Games in Olympic mode, players must "train" theirteam in a series of tiresome Virtual Gym exercises, which involve--you guessedit--lots and lots of button mashing. Thankfully, Sydney 2000's Arcade andCoaching modes allow players to jump right into any event. You won't get toexperience the game's Olympic fanfare, but you'll probably save yourself from arepetitive-stress injury. --Joe Hon

Pros:

  • Makes for an easy-to-pick-up multiplayer game
  • TV-style coverage includes replays shown from multiple camera angles
Cons:
  • Shallow gameplay involves little more than mindless button mashing
  • Arcade stick more of a requirement than an option
  • Not much fun as a single-player gaming experience

OK if you like pushing buttons rapidly

1-0 out of 5 stars Simply horrible.
Not many video games are there that make my stomach ache over buying. But this one crossed that thin dividing line. The playability is so unbelievably disgusting that I can't even explain it. If your looking for some anthritis or want a couple of numb fingers, then go ahead and waste your hard earned money on this graphical disaster. But if you would rather get your money's worth, I would reccommend, almost anything!

1-0 out of 5 stars What do you think my Dreamcast controller is, a drum??!!
This game really [is not good] due to the fact that in every single solitary event you have to repeatedly press A and X. I'm not gonna break my fingers and my controller over that. The only game that's a little fun in it is kayaking, in which I was able to win. But everything else, including kayaking, was frustraing me and my hand. I couldn't even know what was going on with the cycling. The fitness excersices also [were not good] because they really didn't help you. I returned this game to the store the very next hour. ... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
This game is good for the Wrestling fanatic like me that will play any wrestling game relased.Once you learn how to play this game it gets cool.

3-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A WRESTLING GAME!
This game is one of the most complete WWFgames out their today! It has lots of match modes like triple threat, one on one,tag team, cage, etc. Including a career match. Its kind of like a season were you pick one good wrestler to fight for you for a series of months. You have diffrent match types during that strech. As you win your ranking gets higher on diffrent levels. The more you win the matches get higher and higher. If you win all your mathes you get speacial attributes like cloths, wrestlers ,etc.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not enough in this day and age.
Even though the graphics for this version were far smoother than the N64 and PS1 versions of Attitude, a simple graphic upgrade just doesn't cut it. After playing the COMPLETE disappointment that was Royal Rumble, I was hoping that Attitude would be at least a semi-decent improvement over the original Attitudes. But regardless, after playing Smackdown! and WWF Wrestlemania 2000, games that represented wrestling to its fullest on the consoles, Attitude shows that the era of the slow, clunky, overly complicated wrestling game is thankfully over (unless you have the misfortune of playing Acclaim's ECW games.) The controls are slightly less awkward than flying a space shuttle. The graphics, though smooth, are very flat, and with a system like the Dreamcast, there's just no excuse for that. The sound is nice, although the speech is somewhat annoying, and most of the theme songs are two years old (though I still like the Rock's old theme.) Not only that, but half of these guys either aren't around anymore, but have changed so much in two years that it's comical to see them represented here. Acclaim isn't as guilty of putting out garbage as THQ, since Acclaim lost their WWF contract and had to stop making WWF games after Attitude, but Attitude is nothing more than an attempt to sell a wrestling game to people who bought Dreamcast and can't find any good ones (the best, Fire Pro, is only available in Japan. Grr.) I would only recommend this as a option for the wrestling fanatic who has nothnig but a Dreamcast. Otherwise, any of THQ's PS1 and N64 WWF games utterly destroy this one. But of course, they're much newer, so it's not COMPLETELY Acclaim's fault. But for my money, that doesn't matter. Rent once and forget. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A solid Tetris Incarnation
I can't say that my experience with the "Next Tetris" has been afflicted with any of the flaws witnessed by my peers -- it hasn't. It has, in fact, been the single most satisfying Tetris experience that I have ever had the joy of... experiencing.

With a wide variety of play-modes, a compelling soundtrack and online play, even a Tetris novice can fritter away hours in a single sitting.

What else can I say? It's Tetris.

1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid It
Although it has a few good ideas (3d gameboard rotation and breakable pieces), this is one of the worst Tetris incarnations I have witnessed. Here are it's problems:

1) There just isn't much to it - nothing to unlock, no special features, etc.It has almost no replay value, especially for a single player. After an hour or two, it's useless.

2) It is slow and buggy. There is often noticable lag between controller input and onscreen action.I have witnessed at least 3 separate bugs during the 4 times I have played it (and it wasn't worth playing more than 4 times).

3) It is limited to 2 players. Also, the Classic Tetris that it provides is only single-player.

4) The speed and difficulty advance far too quickly.Plus, since it saves each player's level, you are forced to play at the level at which you left off.Essentially, you hit a wall after a few games and cannot proceed. This "feature" does do a good job of allowing players of different skills to compete, but it was taken too far.

5) It has lame music and lackluster graphics.

For a great version of Tetris, see "The New Tetris" for the Nintendo64 - it's absolutely wonderful.

1-0 out of 5 stars This game is a buggy mess
Do not buy this game!!Here is why:

1)Neither Sega nor Crave have any mention of the game on their respective web sites and neither does ...the site mentioned in the instruction manual. They aren't too proud of this one.

2)I have found several bugs in the game including:

a)random changing of names on the players list to blank spaces or a single square box

b)on 2 seperate occasions a falling piece has fallen through one block to rest on a block immediately below where it should be

c)while playing a 2 player game, the player 1 controller started to control both games being played (happened 2 times in a row)

d)sometimes at the beginning of a round an extra second ticks of the clock before pieces are allowed to move

e)when playing somebody with lower rank, the lower rank player can move their blocks a fraction of a second sooner than the higher rank player.

3)I have rarely found other people online to actually play against

4)There are much cheaper (and probably less buggy) versions of this game available for playstation and PC. ... Read more

This is a special package of three popular Sega Sports titles for one price: NFL 2K1, World Series Baseball 2K1, and NBA 2K1:

  • NFL 2K1 is a realistic football simulation with updated pro leagues, players, and stadiums and enhanced artificial intelligence for stronger defense. It features more than 1,700 motion-captured animations for realistic gameplay, allows you to manage your favorite team in franchise mode, and lets you play against up to eight other Dreamcast owners via the Internet (requires a paid SegaNet account).
  • World Series Baseball 2K1 features 2000 MLB rosters and stats for all National League and American League teams; all the parks that opened in 2000, including San Francisco's Pacific Bell Park and Seattle's Safeco Field; and all the management functionality needed to replace a tired pitcher or send in a left-handed pinch hitter.
  • NBA 2K1, the sequel to the popular Dreamcast NBA 2K, allows you to play online against up to eight other Dreamcast owners (requires a paid SegaNet account), and also features authentic 3-D arenas, smooth motion-capture animation, and new commentary. Ok, Here goes:
I cannot praise this deal enough. You get NBA 2k1, NFL 2k1, and World Series 2k1 all for 5 dollers! NBA, and NFL are great hits, however World Series is horrible. Break out your nunchaku and don your black belt: Ryu, Chun Li,and Ken are back, and they've brought with them 16 friends and a ton of newspecial moves to vie for the coveted championship belt in Street Fighter III:3rd Strike.

This latest version of the celebrated Street Fighter series is perhapsthe most attractive yet, with its highly detailed backgrounds and characteranimations that take full advantage of the Dreamcast's power.

Like many 2-D fighting games, there are two methods to playing Street FighterIII: 3rd Strike--learn to finesse the joystick and perform impressivespecial moves, or simply mash the buttons randomly. As such, those who arewilling to devote the time to learning the game's myriad secret special moveswill be able to earn Street Fighter black belts and enjoy the game to itsfullest, while casual gamers who prefer the button-mashing route might find morereplayability in a less complicated game.

For those who have ninja fingers, Capcom has added to this new version a gradingsystem that judges the player's performance after each match and comments on hisor her skills.

The game's value doesn't end when you've mastered the intricate maneuvers, either, thanks to the extreme level of customization that can be made to thefighting, which virtually allows the player to reconstruct the game's rules.--Benjamin Reese

Pros:

  • Incredible graphics and sound
  • New leap attack
  • Highly modifiable fighting system
  • 4 brand-new characters; 19 total
Cons:
  • Game can be played simply by mashing buttons
  • High learning curve

4-0 out of 5 stars great game takes skill
beautiful graphics and gameplay is good.but this game takes more skill then most street fighter games. example parrying is hard but if practiced excessively can be a great tool in your arsnel.overall the game is alot of fun i just miss some of the old time characters thats all.but its a fun game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good
Hot on the heels of Capcom's double whammy of Street Fighter III action, Double Impact, comes 3rd Strike, the third game in the Street Fighter III series. While the two releases are roughly the same, 3rd Strike delivers new characters and enough new options to make it a worthwhile product, even if you already own Double Impact. The main attraction that 3rd Strike adds over Second Impact and the original SFIII is the addition of more characters. The most notable addition is the return of Chun-Li, who has been done up in true Street Fighter III style, and she now possesses more frames of animation than she knows what to do with. Other new characters include Twelve, the alien creature; Q, the robot guy in a trench coat; and Remy, who looks like he escaped from a King of Fighters game. Aside from a few minor gameplay tweaks, it's business as usual, with selectable super arts, parrying, and Gill, the game's ultracheap boss. What really makes 3rd Strike special is the system-direction option screen. This separate screen gives you ten pages of choices that alter the gameplay, allowing you to cancel super arts into super arts, enable air blocking, turn on chain combos, and lots more. Suffice it to say that if there's something about 3rd Strike that you don't like, odds are you can alter it with the system-direction settings. Graphically, the game is smooth. The new characters are as frame-laden as the older characters, and they fit into the world rather nicely. The backgrounds occasionally look a bit flat, but they still look decent. The game's sound has been given a pretty major overhaul since Second Impact, with the addition of a new announcer, a few altered voices, and a couple of Street Fighter raps that play over the select screen. If you bought Double Impact, that may very well be all the Street Fighter III action you need. But if you skipped out on Double Impact - or if you're fanatical about your SFIII - 3rd Strike is a good, refined 2D fighter that won't disappoint.

5-0 out of 5 stars streetfighter3rd strike is great
This is the best fighting game I ever played. The game features great graphics excellent game play and excellent game characters.
This game has a number amount of moves and good combo attackes. The game has some awsome special moves.
